Keisler Cup 3: Everything Thread

Welcome to the 3rd Keisler Cup! This year’s installment will be based in Tarrentum and all games will be played in the host nation.

All U-21 home games will be played in beautiful MegOil Imperium Stadium in Napoliroma, Tarrentum, Allied States of Tarrentum.

All U-16 home games will be played at the glorious National Stadium on the campus of Napole National University in Napole, Napole, Allied States of Tarrentum. National Stadium seats 10,000 and has 15 luxury suites.

The Keisler Cup consists of a Group Stage and a Playoff Stage. The Group Stage for the U-21 will be 7 Matchdays long – with each team playing the others in their Group once. The Group Stage for U-16 and U-13 will be 10 Matchdays long – with each team playing the others in their Group twice. After the Group Stage is complete, there will be the Playoffs.

For the Under-21 teams, the Playoffs will consist of a First Round, Semi-Finals and a Championship Game. The Top 4 teams from each group advance to the Playoffs and will be seeded based on Overall Record, Run Difference, Overall Runs and finally a coin toss.

For the Under-16 and Under-13 teams, the Playoffs will consist of Semi-Finals and a Championship Game. The Top 2 teams from each group advance to the Playoffs and will be seeded based on Overall Record, Run Difference, Overall Runs and finally a coin toss.

RP is encouraged but not required for the Keisler Cup. Those who RP will be credited for each matchday. So, if you RP five times for Matchday 2, they will be looked at all together for one RP score, not individually.

Rules and Such
The Designated Hitter (DH) Rule will be used only if the home team uses the DH. If the home team does not use the DH, neither team will use the DH. If the home team has not specified (either on their roster thread or through a previous RP) the use of a DH in their stadium, then whomever RPs first will dictate whether or not a DH was used in the game.

STYLE: -5 to +5

*Style is a determinant of the chance of scoring runs. A team with a -5 Style plays a lot of small ball and looks for the 2-0 or 1-0 win. A team with a +5 Style looks for scoring opportunities at every turn and is more apt to hit the long ball and be aggressive no the base paths. So do you want to be Braves or the Yankees?

Scorination
Total Scores will be posted and they have to be used.

If your opponent RPs first and lays out when certain runs were scored, you should make every attempt to follow their RP. If the posts come along the exact same time (ie., two long posts submitted within a minute or two of each other) then a pass can be made on the conflicting RPs. An attempt to reconcile should occur though.

Scorination will take place using NSFS 3.0.1 – as stated in the Sign-Up/OOC Thread. Scorination will occur between 8:00-9:30pm EST (what I believe to be 1:00 - 2:30am UTC).

Tarrentum Falcons (U-21)


The Tarrentum Sports Committee, alongside the Tarrentum National Baseball Committee and the IBL Players Corporation, announces its Under-21 roster, starting lineups and pertinent information for the 3rd Keisler Cup.

Coaches
Manager: Galahad Asanti, 67 (89) – Asanti has seen many long years on the diamond. He was a star infielder in the Allied States Major League forty years ago. He still holds the record for most homeruns by a second baseman with 500. Asanti has coached with the Riori Cannons for 26 years where he serves as their Bench Coach. He has international coaching experience as the Third Base Coach for the national team during WBC 16.
Bench Coach: Alfonso Braddo, 46 (35) – Braddo has been the bench coach for the Allied Nations Minor League’s Lake Empress Orange Hats for 6 years. He was a career ANML player and found his way into the coaching ranks as a way to continue his love of the game.
First Base Coach: Fox Inneri, 48 (1) – Inneri has been in the First Base Coaches Box for 5 years with the IBL’s Garatia Warhounds.
Third Base Coach: Brenton Holleruf, 51 (90) – Holleruf is currently the General Manager for the Outremont Cotdelapomais of the IBL. He moved into the GM’s spot for the Cotdelapomais’ after scouting and coaching on the bench for 12 years with the team.

Pitchers
SP 1: Fironte Sareb, 19, R/L (77) – Sareb was the number 1 pitcher for the Lower Marentian Rams last year in the IBL going 15-5 with a 2.66 ERA. He sets a quick pace on the mound with his cut fastball and fastball pitches. Sareb appeared in WBC 16 as a starter posting a 1.67 ERA with 2 wins and 34 K over 21.6 innings.
SP 2: Candi Destani, 18, L/L (16) – Destani, more widely known as a Pop Music star in Tarrentum, always had a love of baseball. She followed up last year’s number one single “Take Me in the Ballpark” with this year’s “Touch All the Bases (On Me)” which spurred outraged parents to take to protesting each Apolln City University of the Arts home game. Destani’s collegiate career was not affected by the hype or the paparazzi as she won the State Colleges and Universities Conference’s Outstanding Pitcher Award. Destani went 10-0 in 12 starts with a 2.92 ERA.
SP 3: Bernardo DiVittorio, 20, L/L (35) – DiVittorio led the NTCC in ERA last year (2.16) and was in the Top 5 in Wins (7) while a victim of National Imperium College’s inability to produce enough Run Support for his starts. DiVittorio is an impressive collegiate player but may be a low-level minor leaguer at best.
SP 4: Biagio Fioroli, 20, R/R (17) – Fioroli finished second in ERA (2.18) and second in Wins (8) last year. The Augustus Italiana Academy cadet has an amazing repertoire of pitches in his wheelhouse. Whether he’s knocking opposing batters off-balance with his Sinker or Forkball, Fioroli can deploy his Slider and Curveball to great effect and he is steadily progressing with his Changeup and Circe Change pitches.
SP 5: Peppino Tibaldi, 21, R/R (48) – Tibaldi led the Cubists from Modi-Cube One Design College with 8 Wins and a 3.80 ERA. He has a four-pitch repertoire: Fastball, Cutter, Curveball and Changeup.
Long Reliever: Zarriana Sareb, 18, L/L (76) – The younger sister of Fironte Sareb, Zarriana pitches for Yui State College in the NTCC and is a Sophomore studying International Business. Sareb stayed in college to improve her stamina on the mound (ahem) and reached a 7 – 2 record in 9 starts this season. She should be a mid-round pick next year in the IBL Draft.
Mid Reliever: Gaspare Scacceri, 21, R/R (4) – Scacceri stood out among Keisler-eligible relievers with a 1.59 ERA and 2 Wins in his 16 Game Appearances. While he is prone to walk a lot of batters, those who do make contact are hitting a low .222 against Scacceri.
Mid Reliever: J.D. Foster, 20, R/R (34) – Known as “one hell of a guy”, Foster was the 21st Overall Pick in this year’s draft and is currently playing with the Glendale Bisons (Single-A affiliate of the Yui Grizzlies). Foster, a starter in college, is transitioning into the reliever role for the higher levels and his managers saw this as a perfect learning opportunity.
Mid Reliever: Tommy Girard, 19, L/L (34) – With his contract dispute over, Girard has impressed his Beachian owners and the Dragons organization. While he played the first half of the year in Single-A, Girard is currently playing in Rouen once again.
Setup: Sisto Visdomini, 18, R/R (18) – Visdomini was the Number 1 draft pick last year in the IBL and was selected by the Trumboi Archers. Currently he is in Single-A Middleport. His movement on his breaking pitches is amazing – the control just isn’t there yet.
Closer: Samantha Azzri, 18, R/R (98) – Azzri is the daughter of Bolonza Atomics Closer Francisco Azzri and she inherited all of her father’s pitching skill. While her saves dropped from 23 to 11 this past year in the NTCC, Azzri was the victim of a very improved NIC team; resulting in less Save Opportunities. Her Fastball, Cutter and Sinker are still the best at the collegiate level.

Catchers
Enrique Caballero, 21, R/R (21) – The 2-time IBL All-Star catcher for the Tarrentum Storm was given an opportunity to play for the national team and he jumped at it. Though his statistics may suffer, the Storm believe it in their best interest to let Caballero compete on the international level. Caballero is hitting .333 so far this season with 22 doubles and 6 home runs.
Peppino Ciasca, 21, R/R (26) – Ciasca has split time between Triple-A Garatia Hounddogs and Double-A Lucca Spiders this year. With Lucca (his currently club) he has hit .304 with 11 doubles, 16 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Infielders
Harry Young, 20, L/L (43) – Young was a star first basemen this season in the NTCC. He led almost every major statistical category while playing for South Pezza University but could not lift them into the playoffs. Young hit .437 with 13 home runs at the plate and maintaining a .992 PCT for the Golden Barons.
Alonso Ramos, 18, S/R (24) – Ramos hit .375 for Dale College last year and netted himself a Clover League Institutions Glove Wizard Award for his play at second base. While not a strong hitter, Ramos is an expert at the sacrifice bunt and has the speed to match. The freshmen is definitely on a lot of IBL organizational watchlists.
Ignacio Rea, 19, R/R (2) – Rea hit .378 for the Concordes of Augustus Italiana Academy. The cadet also smacked in 50 batters and hit 9 homeruns. While he possesses a great arm, he had only a .951 Fielding Percentage at third base.
Vitto ‘The Phantom’ Perfetti, 19, S/R (23) – Perfetti has been a huge success in the minors. He currently plays for the Cote-Nord Cidermakers (ANML) under the Montreal Royales organization. Perfetti is still looking for his big call-up to the IBL. Career batting average of .269 with 77 doubles and 16 triples; he is hitting .388 in Cote-Nord this season.
Gemma Itala, 17, R/R (68) – The youngest player ever drafted by an IBL organization. The young starlet Gemma Itala was selected 16th Overall out of high school in this year’s draft by Florentine Diamond Kings. With her mother as her manager, the elder Ms. Itala has demanded an exorbitant signing bonus for her daughter – which the D-Kings are understandably hesitant to pay. But that isn’t to say Itala isn’t a diamond in the rough, she hit .556 in High School last year and had a Slugging Percentage of .957.
Robert Marinelli, 19, R/R (5) – Marinelli was the top hitting shortstop in the NTCC last year. He hit .341 for the Tesesta College Blue Hens and drove in 22 runners. Scouts have noted that Marinelli “plays all out” and this helps compensate for his somewhat lack of skills at shortstop. He will mainly be used as a defensive replacement for the U21 team.

Outfielders
Jude Roberti, 19, R/R (61) – Roberti, a Junior studying Biology, plays Right Field for South Pezza University and has answered every question as to why he was the Number 1 baseball prospect two years ago. His strong arm in the outfield has been a boon to the Golden Barons. He holds a career NTCC batting average of .328 with a career NTCC fielding percentage of .972.
Caldaron Sepelli, 19, R/R (17) – Sepelli has been a great long ball hitter for the Napole National University Griffons but is prone to hitting droughts at the plate. Most famously he carried a 35 game hit streak into the NTCC Championship Series last year then struck out during 10 consecutive at bats. This year he hit for 28 consecutive games. He holds a career NTC batting average of .401 with 30 homeruns.
Guibert Pessotto, 20, L/L (32) – Pressotto is the top ranked Right Fielder at the collegiate level. He is currently a Senior with the Greystone University Radicals. He should be a tremendous player in the minor league level next year after the draft.
Mario Ionian, 19, L/L (59) – Ionian is the eldest son of IBL star Norian Ionian’s first marriage. Mario is currently a Junior at Florentine University where he studies Military Science and Technology. Career NTCC batting average of .408
Pietro DeGiovanni, 21, R/R (19) – DeGiovanni, a Senior at Borgia Precentius University, belted .455 this year in the NTCC and accumulated 27 doubles. He was also selected to the NTCC All-Star roster for the Clove League and will be primarily used as a pinch hitter in this tournament.

Other factoids: The IBL and associated Tarrentum-based minor leagues do not have a DH for any team. However, the NTCC does use a DH in some conferences. While this is a useless factoid, it may be interesting to know that not all Tarrentian players grew up without the DH. All games played in MegOil Imperium Stadium will not have a DH in the lineup. If a game is decided by one or two runs either way then my starting pitcher was taken out and a reliever was put in. This means that for a 3-2 Tarrentum victory, either my Setup or Closer got the save.

Coaches
Manager: Vincent Saloni, 45 (29) – Saloni has been the manager for the Krozuy Falcons for 5 years and has helped them rise from mid-level team to one of the best in the International Baseball League. He has international coaching experience as the Bench Coach for the National Team during WBC 15.
Bench Coach: Vito Brodga, 50 (36) – Brodga has been the bench coach for the Allied Nations Minor League (AAA) Apolln Spikes for 6 years.
First Base Coach: Caz Tumuo, 51 (3) – Tumuo has been in the First Base Coaches Box for 2 years with the ANML’s Casslaha Governors.
Third Base Coach: Luca Salazo, 48 (87) – Salazo is currently the Hitting Coach for the Ventili Royals of the ANML. His inclusion on the U-16 staff is seen as a “dry run” to future coaching jobs within the IBL.

Pitchers
SP 1: Broccimi, 16, R/R (45) – Broccimi, a high school junior, is one of Tarrentum’s top college prospects for 2013 and is expected to attend Augustus Italiana Academy.
SP 2: Dolorada Albina, 15, R/R (11) – Albina, a high school sophomore, was the first freshmen to appear on the Tarrentum High School All-Tarrentian list last year. During her high school career, she has pitched 9 complete games and maintained a 3.61 GPA.
SP 3: Mauro Tobbole, 16, L/L (15) – Tobbole has a strong arm and is expected to continue to help out his team during their run in the Tarrentum State Playoffs. Tobbole features a developed screwball pitch along with the usual repertoire of fastball, curveball and changeup.
SP 4: Tomas Presario, 15, L/L (44) – Presario, a high school sophomore, has shown remarkable improvement in his command of his fastball and changeup. Though only fielding two pitches, Presario is an expert at hitting his spots.
SP 5: Ilario Constante, 14, R/R (99) – Ilario, a high school freshmen, is the youngest student on the U-16 roster. Constante has played for numerous traveling teams in the state of Apolln and has widely been considered a “can’t miss” by IBL scouts when he becomes draft eligible in 5 years.
Mid Reliever: Restaro Gomez, 16, R/R (28) – Gomez, a high school junior, has been a starter throughout his two years playing varsity high school baseball. He throws a slurve, a mean curveball and a changeup.
Mid Reliever: Sabina Ottavio, 16, L/L (65) – Ottavio, daughter of Secretary of War Antonio Ottavio, has a bruising fastball and a quick temper. She has been suspended from playing high school ball after she made an opponent literally eat dirt. Medical tests later found that Sabina suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder and she has enjoyed success playing on top-level traveling teams in the state of Tarrentum.
Mid Reliever: Tacino Severino, 16, R/R (12) – Tacino, a high school junior, has led his team to the Krozile State Playoffs based on his strong arm and fast pace on the mound.
Setup: Ponzio Turano, 16, R/R (6) – Turano, is the little brother to Napole National University Griffons star Diggs Turano. Ponzio is a high school junior who has already said that he will follow Diggs to NNU. He features a cut fastball and slider.
Closer: Jason Fernandez, 15, R/R (79) – Fernandez, a high school sophomore, was on the Tarrentum High School All-Tarrentian roster. Fernandez is a strong pitcher who has a high variety of pitches to choose from: fastball, slurve, curveball, slider and changeup.

Leo Rustico, 16, R/R (24) – Rustico, a high school sophomore, led his team to the Krozile State Playoffs.
Salvatore Usso, 15, L/L (14) – Usso is a great catcher and have been pegged by many in the High School reporting sphere as being the next Valerio Utteroni.

Infielders
Serafina Kollia, 16, R/R (21) – Kollia, a high school junior, has captained her team for the past two years and is also a star field hockey player. Kollia appeared on the High School All-Tarrentian list last year for her work at third base.
Benedetta Grazia, 16, L/L (9) – Grazia, a high school sophomore, has been featured on TSPNN’s “Young Star of the Week” five times last season for her amazing feat of turning two unassisted Triple Plays, one unassisted double play and her 524 ft home run – all in one high school season.
Lucrezia Novella, 15, R/R (5) – Novella, a high school sophomore, was the first girl to start for her high school’s baseball team in Trumboi, Napole. The move was a good one as Novella lead her team in RBIs with 34.
Jarreth Frese, 14, R/R (1) – Frese is a good utility infielder and won plaudits for his work in a three game home stand where, due to injuries, he played all 8 infield positions (including Pitcher).
Tiziana Vincenza, 16, S/R (31) – Vincenza, a high school junior, has been a terrific player for her high school in the state of Krozile. Her aptitude at fielding is matched only by her grace off the field, where she runs a government-sponsored not for profit organization which gives homes to stray kittens and ferrets.
Silvio Tiberano, 16, R/R (19) – Tiberano, a high school junior, is the son of controversial painter Grippa Tiberano (whose “Poo on a Shoe” exhibit at Yui State College was closed two days after opening). Tiberano shares none of his father’s laid back, pacifist attitudes however. Tiberano recently helped lead his Apolln City high school reach the State Playoffs through his powerful hitting and baserunning.
Prima ‘Mr. Movie’ Sempronio, 15, L/L (29) - Sempronio, a high school sophomore, impressed last year in Keisler Cup 2. He rode his story (winning a contest to appear last year) into a book deal and a made-for-TV movie. Mr. Movie has let some of the fame go to his head but is still a decent ball player at second of first.

Outfielders
Stefano Abertini, 16, R/R (51) – Abertini, a high school junior, holds his high school record for longest home run hit at 455 feet. He’s also a pretty good fielder and quick on his feet.
Michelle Garra, 16, R/R (23) – Garra, a high school junior, has a strong arm in right field and was ejected in a game for punching out a visiting team’s mascot for saying that she “played ball like a girl.”

Other factoids: The NTCC uses a DH in some conferences and all high school baseball teams use the DH. All games played in National Stadium will have a DH in the lineup. Western Cuban Reds U-21 Roster

Pitchers

Fredek Fenyak #18- Fredek's true position in Pitching in High School was a Closer but he is attempting to go as a Starter in the Keisler Cup. His best pitch is a 2 Seam Fastball.

Pavel Svoboda #32- Pavel didn't starting playing Baseball till his Junior Year but already his skills are great, hr has a 11-1 all time record. With a ERA of .81. He is a true gem. His best pitch is a Slider.

Patrik Horáček #99- One of the best Western Cuban Pitchers to play the game in High School. He has great expectations. Has a life time record of 55-1. A ERA of 1.23 his only lose came in the Province Finals during his Freshman Year when he let Four Home Runs off him. However that was just a rookie mistake and he is now the best pitcher in Western Cuba under 21. He throws a great knuckle.

Relievers

Radek Kriz #69- Radek was lucky to be selected on the U-21 National Team, in a haunting event the person selected in him developed a bad case of the Swine Flu and was unable to attend the Keisler Cup. His life record is 8-2. 2.43 ERA. Likes to throw the Curve.

Stepan Nemecek #43- A Religious kid, Stepan plays for the best Catholic School baseball Team in the Country. His lifetime record is 23-4 and he has thrown Two No Hitters one of them being a perfect game. He has a lifetime average of 1.53 ERA and likes to throw the Change Up.

Josef Slavik #54- Never has played baseball in his life, scouts found him on the streets of Vladgrad chucking a ball at 90 mph, things should get interesting when he plays.

Coaches

Ivan Kaspar- Coaches the Vladgrad City Stars, an Expansion Team in the International Baseball League. His decided to coach the U-21 Baseball Team as many of the players go to the IBL

Bruno Broz- Coached the National High School Champions in Western Cuba, joined the U-21 Team as there assistant. Knows a few players on the team like Patrik Horáček.

Infield

C Ziven Balev #1- Voted Best Prospect in the IBl, he looks to have a good future on the Tarrentum Storm, been playing baseball since he was 4.

1B Fred Cech #2- The Teams Power Hitter Fred hit a home run in every single game in his high school career however though he was in the Top Five in the Country for Strikeouts.

2B Erik Bures #3- Probably the Best All Around Player on the Team. He can run, he can slide, he can hit, he can field, however though he can't get out of trouble.

SS Fabi Levanda #4- Known as the Kid he is the youngest player on the U-21 Team being at age 16. However though his skills make up for his age.

3B Arman Pletenetsky #5- Great Prospect, played High School Baseball at Portland High School in Western Cuba, holds the record for most consecutive games with a hit in High School in Western Cuba with 54. Drafted in the IBL by the Plymouth Bears of the IBL.

Outfield

LF Brody Ukhtomskii #6- The Only Colored Player on the U-21 Team, he has African and Russian Heritage, is a great fielder, however though he is widely mistreated as of his skin color, and if the Home Crowd makes fun of him with racist jokes he will struggle.

CF Yuri Kalandarishvili #7- Like one of there relievers Yuri has never played a game of baseball in his life, however though his arm is amazing and he can easily throw a ball from the Warning Track to Home Plate, his debut should be interesting to.

RF Vladmiri Poderni #8- Making his Debut as a Right Fielder, Vladmiri used to play 2B but since the position was already taken he has been transfered to right field things should get interesting

Hossaim Youngsters prepare for Tournament

U-21's
Hossaim's U-21 roster has been drawn into McSquiggie’s Group in the Keisler Cup. They will face Churchma In Matchday 1. Star players Billy Flash, Ryan Lerrit, and Christopher Westman have been under huge media pressure to preform. GM Paul Fresmo has been quoted saying " it is very important for us to get off to a good start if we want to make the playoffs." The game is set for MegOil Imperium Stadium, on October 18th. This game will be available on HSN (Hossaim Sports Network) and BTV1.

U-16's
In the U-16's, Hossaim have been drawn into the Modi-Cube One Group. Hossaim's U-16's key players will be Jason Smith, Xazi, and Nicolas Cerry. This may be Hossaim's best chance for U-16 glory as Jason Smith and Nicolas Cerry will be advancing to the U-21 team. As they prepare for the Matchday 1 game vs Bergnovinaia, they remain hopeful that they can get a good start to the tournament. Bergnovinaia vs Hossaim can be seen on BTV2

U-13's
As for our Little Leaguers, they are in the Pony Group. A hopeful and talented team will be the one that takes the field against Western cuba in Matchday 1. Little is know about the team, GM Quinton Hebberloa has been keeping things private. The game can be seen on BTV3.

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS KEISLER CUP 3 U-21 ROSTER


In honor of the greatest pitcher the World has ever seen, (Stacey Keisler of course) Newmanistan is returning to the tournament that bears her illustrious name. All three teams will take this competition extremely seriously. First, because it honors Stacey, and second, since they play for the world’s greatest baseball power, they have a big reputation to live up too.

Our U-21 Team is as follows:

Head Coach: Allyson Payne (North Charlotte)- Serves as the hitting coach on the WBC teams.

Starting Pitchers:
1A) Tara Skirvin (LHP)- At 20, Tara returns to Keisler Cup play. She relied on her fastball a little too much last time, and has since become a more well-rounded pitcher. She will still bring the heat, but along with it comes a curve, slider, and oh yeah, a very nasty splitter.

1B) Kristen Dailey (RHP)- The 17-year old idolizes Stacey Keisler in every way. Including the trash talk. Promoted from the U-16 team last time.

1C) Emily Price (RHP)- Emily, 17, is also developing a wide variety of pitches. She is mainly a fastball/changeup artist now, but that cutter, when it’s on, its unhittable. Also a U-16 graduate.

1D) Rachel Bohanek (LHP)- Rachel, 18, makes her Keisler Cup debut. She was a slow developer originally, and because of her smaller size, she had early confidence issues. With that out of the way, she lets her curveball do the talking. She has also developed a wind-up making her release point very difficult to pick up.

1E) Tara Mullins (RHP) A fearless 19 year old hard thrower who went to the same high school as Jessica Brasfield, a superstar on our senior team. She makes her Keisler Cup debut.

Bullpen:
Erica Barrett (RHP)- CLOSER- Early in her career, Barrett has been lights out with the Bulls with her heat and wicked cutter and split finger fastball. The 21- year old also closed for the U-21 team last time.

Katie Schaefer (RHP- Putnam Lake)- SET UP. Katie, 18, is the sister of WBC starter Sara Schaefer, who was one of the Rockets biggest unsung heroes. Was also the set up reliever for the U-16 team last time.

Samantha Hancock (LHP- Centralia)- The 21-year old will be used in long relief.

Shelby Russo (RHP)- Very motivated youngster (17), who lost her parents in a car accident when she was 8-months old. Has lived with her brother and aunt all her life. Long reliever. Played for the U-16 team last time.

Megan Sutherland (RHP- Southport)- Megan will be used in short relief, as the 18-year old has always struggled to be the type to pitch long stretches. But for an inning, she can be as good as anyone.

Brittany Smitton (LHP- Olympia) The 19-year old international rookie is the left handed version of Sutherland.

Batting Order:
1) Kelly McPherson- CF (R/R- Pocono City)- The 19-year old appeared on the bench of the last U-21 team, and is now ready to showcase her blazing speed in the same way Erica Rice did last time. Newmanistanians, as you should know by now, are very aggressive base stealers, and this is seen as much as a coveted spot in a lineup as the cleanup spot.

2) Brooke McMichael- 2B (R/S- Olympia)- Brooke simply gets on base. She will hit around .340, and while she doesn’t have power, she doesn’t really need too. The 21-year old starts for the second time.

3) Lauren Hedstrom- 1B (L/L- South Charlotte)- When you last saw Lauren, now 20, we mentioned she could hit the ball a mile but was prone to the strike out. Well, in the last two years, she has worked on that, and strikes out much, much less now.

4) Jessica Larkin- 3B (L/L- Putnam Lake)- Jessica, 20, may be a young Sarah Boland. She has all of the power, as other Rockets greats at the hot corner. She hit in this spot last time, and is ready to do so again.

5) Michelle Reilly- LF (R/R)- With her speed, she could lead off, but with her bat there is no better place for the 17-year old prospect to hit then right here. She was the clean up batter for the U-16 team in the last Cup.

6) Kimmy DeCarlo- RF (L/L)- Highly touted but still often distracted. Once taken out of a high school game for sneaking her cell phone out on the field and answering a text message during a pitching change. She’s 17 now, so hopefully she is maturing a bit.

7) Katherine Pelmann- SS (L/S- Olympia)- The 20-year old will overpower no one, but what she can do is find holes in the infield and the outfield to place hits. Expect her to pick up many RBI’s while in this spot. She’s also very good with the glove.

8) Amanda Partidge- C (L/L)- Amanda, 17, is the quiet type, and never goes out with the team. Fortunately, she at least uses that time to study opponents and pass the information on to the pitchers. On the team more for that ability then for her hitting, but she’s no easy out.

9) Pitcher.

Bench: (Bigger because we have a smaller bullpen then most).

Our U-16 Team is as follows:
NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS KEISLER CUP 3 U-16 ROSTER


Coach- Tara Cuyler (Daytopia)- Starting SS for WBC 7-12 teams.

Starting Rotation:
1A) Meghan Stewart (LHP)- Second generation player. The 16-year old is the daughter of WBC Hall of Famer Tara Stewart, and will be the one that tries to get the rest of the young team to focus on the task at hand. She was in this spot last time, too.

1B) Nikki Yates (LHP) - 16-year old who sometimes will struggle with control, but the arc of her curve is very impressive for someone her age.

1C) Marissa Martell (RHP)- The 15-year old can sometimes seem disinterested, and sometimes needs to be encourage to throw the next pitch as she looks in the stands for boys.

1D) Michelle Green (LHP)- 14-year old rookie. Fastball/Change artist

1E) Ashley Tarallo (RHP) Another 14-year old rookie. Fastball, curve, slider are her best.


Bullpen:

Ashley Blanchard (LHP)- CLOSER. 16-year old was in this spot as well. She has behavorial issues towards people not affiliated with the team, but gets along great with teammates.

Allyson Blanchard (LHP)- SET UP. Is used to doing things for her big sister. Now, the 14-year old will do some set up relief for her.

Erica Travis- (RHP) Long reliever. 13 years old and an international rookie. Already throws in the 90's.

Jennifer DiFazio (LHP) Long reliever. 16 years old and an international rookie. Curveball is well beyond her years. She’s also very appearance-conscious, and will make sure she looks good on the mound at all times. Once ejected in a game by an umpire who thought she was scuffing the ball with lipstick.

Brittany McCabe- (RHP) Short reliever. 15 years old and an international rookie.

Emily Ricci(LHP)- Short reliever. 14 years old and an international rookie.



Batting Order:

1) Caitlin Leffler- CF (R/R)- Caitlin, 16, is yet another leadoff hitting star in Newmanistan inspired by Brittany Wright. Started here last time too.

2) Courtney Hollister- SS (R/R)- Courtney, 16, is very talented with the glove, and she will let the opponents know when she’s made a great play. She also runs well and hits for average. Started here last time too.

3) Jennifer Durham- 1B (L/L)- The 16-year old looks to have great power potential, but she can also run the bases well. Probably will become a national team player at some point. Started here last time too.

4) Brianna Asbury- 3B (R/S)- The only player in this lineup that can switch hit, the 16-year old is credited for her high work ethic, and will be one of the off the field leaders. Started here last time too.

5) Kaylee Picard- LF (L/L) Served as a backup in the last Keisler Cup, this 15-year old as progressed a lot in the last two years, especially in the power department.

6) Kristen Snider- C (R/R)- An international rookie, the 14-year old can call a good game behind the plate, but she also hits for a great BA. She should get a lot of RBI’s.

7) Rachel Southwood- RF (R/R) 16-year old was on the bench last time. A contact hitter.

8) Amanda Day- 2B (L/L)- Great with the glove, the 15-year old was suggested by Courtney Hollister to Tara Cuyler, who agreed on her talents.

9) Pitcher.

KEISLER EXCITED ABOUT TEAMS


Tarrentum- The third edition of the Keisler Cup, the baseball tournament intended for youngsters that was founded by Newmanistan, is set to begin in Tarrentum. While it might be a downer to some that this tournament is not in Newmanistan again, there have been a handful of factors which have seen the need for it to be played elsewhere. The aspiring nation of Tarrentum, which could be championship material one day if they are in a Classic that we, Cassadaigua, Tocrowkia, and Zwangzug are not a part of, wanted to take on the tournament, and they received the blessing of Emperor Michael IV as long as the name remained the same. When he found out that Tarrentum had no intention of changing the name in the first place, the decision became much easier. Originally, we were not sure if Newmanistan would participate in this, but we are glad to see that they are. I, Shannon Spencer, am here with the great Keisler herself and we will talk about the tournament that will certainly be of much greater interest to us then that tournament where way too many nations attempt to qualify for way too small a field, by kicking a ball around. Oh, and there is a lot less red tape, too.

SS: Good morning, everyone. It is me, Shannon, here with Stacey.

SK: Hello Newmanistan!

SS: So, what’s going through your mind now that we get set to play another edition of the Cup named for you.

SK: I am very happy to see it. Without a doubt, it is the premier sports tournament about to take place. Yeah, the rest of the world might be more interested in something else, but screw that. Anything called the Keisler Cup deserves the greatest treatment, and this will be a great tournament.

SS: Will it be though? There has been some criticism of the quality of the field. There are not many established powers participating.

SK: We’re participating. Cassadaigua’s participating. That’s five World Baseball Classic championships in the last six Classics. Tarrentum’s definitely on the upswing. Do we really need anyone else?

SS: Well, that’s a good way to look at it, but a few more established nations would have been good.

SK: Not at all. We don’t need them. Who do we need to make this better? Tocrowkia? Zwangzug? Who cares. The best two nations in the world are here, along with the hosts, who will be very good. No one else is needed. And you know what else?

SS: What?

SK: It’s their loss. Maybe other nations will realize that teams that have used the Keisler Cup to develop youngsters are winning WBC Championships. It’s not a coincidence, this is a very valuable tournament. They can all focus on kicking a ball around. We’re here for glory.

SS: Well Tocrowkia and Zwangzug don’t do that, either.

SK: And all the better for it.

SS: You’re not much of a football (interrupted)

SK: Soccer.

SS: Ok, soccer. You’re not much of a soccer fan, are you? Whatever happened to your dating Jeremy McAllister, Jr?

SK: It’s off. Junior couldn’t handle me. Just like he couldn’t handle all of his other dating attempts.

SS: Some might say that is why you are purposely slamming the World Cup right now, though.

SK: People will think what they will. I hear people in Tarrentum are talking about national rival Meddicia winning the Baptism of Iron by a touchdown, 7-0, though.

SS: That was actually the Baptism of Fire. Soccer. I know it looks like a gridiron (interrupted)

SK: Football!

SS: Sorry, football. I know it looks like a football score, but it was really a soccer score.

SK: Goes to show how unimportant those sports are.

SS: Not following the World Bowl either?

SK: No, not really. Nor the World Cup of Hockey. Baseball is where its at. While other nations focus there, we’re gonna kick ass here.

SS: How so?

SK: Press releases, probably. A nation can only put out so many, so while Dagans are blogging about cruising through World Cup qualification, we’re winning here.

SS: Ahh, I see.

SK: So anyway, my daughter is ready to pitch in the U-13's, and become the second greatest pitcher ever.

SS: Second?

SK: Yeah, that’s what I told her. Just that she can’t have her expectations unrealistically high and think she’ll better then I was, but second is a good goal for her.

SS: So is Cassadaigua the main concern? And the hosts? What about these other nations, there’s a few good nations here. Delaclava. Western Cuba.

SK: Delaclava hasn’t proven much in baseball, sorry. They don’t concern me? Western Cuba? Not at all, they’re ok, but not concerning a team like us yet. It’s mainly Cassadaigua and Tarrentum, yes. Next thing you’re gonna tell me is that Churchma should concern me.

SS: Well they are coming along.

SK: Like Western Cuba, yes. They are coming along. We’re already there and have been there. The Dagans are too. The Falcons aren’t here yet, but they are close, and on home turf, they will be tough, for sure. But in the end, look for a bunch of sky blue going home with a trophy.

Churchma U-21 Roster
Churchma Sports Inc.

This team is comprised of young college stars and high school stars from around the Republic. The Churchma squad will be managed by Mario Browder. Browder is a young, fiery coach that isn't afraid to get in the umpires face and back up his players. (OOC: Feel free to eject him frequently in your RP's, but if he was ejected in the prior game, odds are he won't be ejected in the next game) Browder has that kind of glare that will make it feel like he is burning a hole through your body- but at the same time, the players' know he has their back at any given time.

Churchma doesn't have an easy group- as it will have to face off against powerhouses Newmanistan, Western Cuba, and Tarrentum before a chance at making the playoffs. In order to make it to the playoffs, Churchma will have to finish in the top four in the McSquiggie Group. CSI's prediction for teams making it out of group play include the three teams previously mentioned, and the Republic.

Churchma U-13 Roster

In the inaugural edition of what many know as "The Little League World Series" Churchma will come into the tournament with everyone on a level playing field. Because this is the first edition of the tournament, little is known about other teams in the "Cub Group". Of the other four teams in our group, all are familiar names except for Octinstine. It's assumed that because Newmanistan is such a power at higher levels of baseball, that their younger teams will be just as good on the international stage. The same story goes for Delaclava and Tarrentum.

The Churchma U-13 squad will be managed by Craig Napper. Napper's full-time job is being a firefighter in the Moorhatch-suburb of Lake Merry. Napper is described as "the perfect coach to develop our boys into fine young men". Napper isn't looking for much of a battle with umpires, as he's normally just spending his time teaching his team the fundamentals.

The first game for the U-13 squad is against Tarrentum.

Stacey Keisler and daughter Courtney have a heart-to-heart conversation prior to her debut:

If you thought that Courtney Keisler would get special, preferential treatment from her mother, who is also the head coach of the U-13 team, then you would be correct. Stacey doesn’t hide the fact that her top priority is the unveiling of her 11-year old daughter to the world in Tarrentum, and she is also not very modest about Courtney’s ability. But would you expect anything less from Stacey? Courtney makes her international debut against the nation of Hossaim after the youngest Rockets had a day off in the opener.

“Mom, what’s with the ties?” Courtney asked.

Stacey at first, didn’t know what her daughter was talking about, and assumed that she was looking over World Cup of Hockey or World Cup 53 scores.

“Focus, sweetheart. No one cares about hockey or soccer here. Don’t worry about the games that have ended in ties,” she said, which led to her daughter pointing out a website where there were baseball games that ended in ties, with extra innings apparently not played. She sighed loudly, “What the hell is this shit?! Ties, in baseball? I’ll get to the bottom of this. Hopefully these are just misprinted scores. Other then that, how you feeling?”

“Like kicking some Hossaim ass! Hey you see this, they have boys on their team! How stupid is that!?” Courtney exclaimed.

Stacey chuckled and smiled, “Love that attitude! I see they have boys on their team. A lot of teams do. You would think that the fact that a male has not won a World Baseball Classic championship since number 13 would make teams realize that females are better at baseball. I think you should do well, a shut out would be great, but don’t put that much pressure on yourself. It’s your first game, and you don’t have to be the second greatest pitcher ever in the world yet.”

“Yeah I’m not really nervous. They are boys so they are probably kinda stupid, which means they will probably bite on my curveball way too much. (Laughs). I hope the rest of the team will be as good as I am. My roommate Ericka (Larson, the 1B pitcher) seems to be nervous. I try to calm her down but I don’t know if it really works.”

“Well just remember that Ericka was not born into greatness, so she probably is. Ericka has a lot of talent if she develops it. I am doing what I can with her and hope that she will also become a great pitcher, but my main focus on this team is unveiling you to the World, and letting them see what the next great pitcher looks like.”

“Yeah, and that’s pretty exciting. You know I was watching the game tape of the Hossaim game against Western Cuba, and they like won big time. So that probably means they have a dud waiting for them. They might even think they have an upper hand against us because they won that game like that cuz they’re boys and probably real stupid. Look at the way this Harry boy is choking up on his bat in the second inning. I mean really you can just see how nervous he is, its funny. The only reason they won like that is cuz Western Cuba probably sucks worse then Lurikastan. Hahaha! (Historical reference: Stacey Keisler tossed a perfect game against Lurikastan in World Baseball Classic 10 play).”

“Yeah, I don’t know if anyone can be as bad as Lurikastan was, though. I know some people think I am going overboard making 11 year olds study game tape, but you’re not here on a vacation, it’s a business trip.” (Historical background: “It’s not a vacation, it’s a business trip is a phrase used often by Rockets WBC coach Christina Sanders, especially in our earlier days).

“That’s right. That’s why we’re gonna win. It’s all I care about. Tomorrow the world is introduced to my curveball and I remind them that I am only 11. If you think it’s good now then you better fear how good its gonna be when I am on the senior team. These Hossaim boys are gonna look so stupid!”

A close and even game. It was Hossaim scoring first with Andrew Ackman getting the RBI. In the third Churchma getting on the board and scoring twice in the second, in with Hossaim also scored through Mark Elinborugh. After a scoreless 5th inning, both teams scored in the 6th. At the top of the 8th Billy Flash hit a home run scoring 2 sending Mario Browder in a violent rampage causing him to be ejected. Later in the same inning Barry Lyle tied it up with a single home run. Both pitchers (Christopher Westman and Marcus Townaski) pitched flawless 9th innings to end the game level.

A great defensive display from Hossaim. Over the first 3 Innings, its either a Nicolas Cerry strikeout or a defensive catch (often from Xazi). They recorded 3 hits in first 3 innings. Hossaim were first to score in the 4th but later Xazi took a minor injury and left the game for 2 innings. During those 2 innings Bergovinia scored twice to give them a lead. But in the 7th Hossaim took it back with Xazi and Stewart getting RBI's. In the 9th Gregory Millens put it away with a Home run.

Complete domination. Two words that best described this match. Jack Debon hits a home run on the first pitch to start things off. Then in the third its Manny Vert who gets an RBI. Then came a double scoring 4th( Jack Debon and Harry Helberson), and a Eryn Webesto triple home run. And after all this, Arron Merrow has a no hitter going! WE scored 1 in each of the next 3 innings( Debon, Leppers, and Gangoro). In the Bottom of the 9th Merrow still has a no hitter running. With 2 outs, the pop fly is easily caught by Joey Nemoric to give Merrow the no-hitter.
