The Chartistani Hot League

The Chartistani Hot League (CHL) is the domestic top flight of the nation of Chartistan. The 100 teams are decided by their position in the Chartistani Hot Chart (The best team on paper is usually the #1 song, and the worst is usually the #100 song). The league runs in the course of 1 Chartistani week, equivalent to around 200 days, to facilitate the massive 198 game schedule. On certain weeks the top teams on the charts are allocated to IFCF competition.

The Chartistani Hot 7s

The Chartistani Hot 7s (CH7s) is Chartistan's main 7ball league, and is the most popular sport in Chartistan due to the fixture congestion the Hot League causes. In order for a team (For example, Rockstar 7s) to qualify it must fulfil one of these requirements:

• Have its number be a multiple of 7
• Have its number have just one 7
• Have its number totally add or subtract to 7

The top 35 teams with this requirement are positioned into 5 groups of 7, and after 12 games (Once home, once away) all 7 of the Division 1 teams, the top 4 Division 2 teams, the top 3 Division 3 teams, the top 2 Division 4 teams and the winner of Division 5 go to the Hot 7s Championship; the runner-up of Division 4 and the winner of Division 5 will have to play each other to qualify for the main round. The winner of the H7S will be crowned Hot 7s champion.

Preliminary Round

The Hot 7s Division 4 runners-up, I Called Mama 7s, and the Division 5 winners, Pardon 7s, will play a match to decide who will take on the Division 1 winners, Dynamite 7s.

First Round

The winner of the Preliminary Round match, I Called Mama 7s, will join the other 15 autoqualifiers in the First Round. The teams will be seeded based on their position in the regular season, with the Division 1 winners, Dynamite 7s, as the 1 seed and the Preliminary Round winner, I Called Mama 7s, as the 16 seed. There will be no reseeding, the winner of 1v16 will face the winner of 8v9, etc.

Chartistani Hot League - The Reform Season

The start of Chart Year 63 brought upon the dawning of a new era for Chartistani football. With the Hot League causing way too much fixture congestion from when it started in Chart Year 1 to now, the Chartistani system will undergo a major overhaul starting with Chart Year 63.

The Hot League

The Hot League has been reduced from 100 teams down to 14, all of them qualifying via different competitions. These will include:

• The previous 3 Hot League winners (In this case Rockstar, Wep and Mood)
• The top 5 teams on the Billboard Hot League a week before the season began that aren't the previous Hot League champions (Positions, Forever After All, Laugh Now Cry Later, Blinding Lights and I Hope)
• The top 2 remaining teams from the Official City Top League from the week before the start of the season (Lemonade and Really Love)
• The top 2 Gaon Residential League teams from the week before the start of the season (Dynamite and Don't Touch Me)
• The top 2 remaining teams on the Aria City Football 50 League from the week before the start of the season (Head & Heart and Holy)

The Hot League will have 26 matchdays with this new format.

A new season began in Chartistan with the first Hot League of the chart year. Instead of 100 clubs mostly based in the capital of Billboard, 14 competed for Chartistan's ultimate prize, with a much less tenuous schedule but an even more difficult road for the smaller fringe teams that can't qualify via more than 1 competition. Most teams will have to play their Hot League season out before returning to city play, and others who are not likely to requalify via the city leagues will have to fight for the championship and 3 more seasons in the Hot League, the ultimate safety net.

It's safe to say that Rockstar earned their 1 season stay on the Hot League. It's almost like the Chartistani FA gave them nothing, but with this they hop out on the league and get to busting everyone's competition, their only loss coming against Cana district's own Laugh Now Cry Later, sitting 13th in the Hot League ahead of a horrendous Lemonade side, their necks dripping with pain and suffering as they were favorites for at least an IFCF Challengers Cup spot. Watch out for Really Love, Don't Touch Me and Head & Heart all challenging Wep and Rockstar's throne, the top 2 needing a league title to stay in the league for 2 more seasons with how bad their city results are going...

Brand new Lamborghini? It fucked the cop cars. All 13 of them. Rockstar have kept not only 3 more cycles in the Hot League, but locked up another trip to the IFCF Champions League. Wep could try all they want, but it wasn't enough macaroni in the pot to get them their title. I Hope snuck into 3rd place and a Challengers Cup spot going from 8th to 3rd, and will probably cheat their way to the loss just like what Chartistan did when they faced actual opposition. As for Dynamite? Well they lit up fellow Gaon team Don't Touch Me to get to the top of that final spot in the Challengers Cup, on the same points level as Really Love and Positions (Who switched their position from 11th to 7th in a comeback that fell just short of IFCF football. Aria representatives Head & Heart finished 8th, while Mood had a 9th place finish.

And Lemonade... Oh Lemonade. Last place in the first Hot League with this format. And that's on their government name.

AKA the other reform season.

Apparently a closed off league system with regionals just wasn't vibing with everyone, and so the plan of the 14 team Hot League was quickly scrapped in favor of a 64 team promotion-relegation system with 4 leagues - The Hot League will return as usual with 16 teams, 2 more being added in, while the Bubbling Leagues will be split into 2, each league (Bubbling League 1 and 2) having, you guessed it, 16 teams. Outside of the Hot League system (And the domestic cup competition) will be the Chartistan National League, or "Non-League" as all the cool kids call it - The teams involved are as wild as the style played in the league, with no "expulsion" seemingly in sight...

The domestic cup competition will have to wait. League results are coming in...

With Slow Dancing In A Parking Lot's expulsion from Chartistani football, the secretive 20 point rule was formally discussed. If a team in any season gets less than 20 points but isn't relegated or are in the National League, they either get relegated down to the lower division or, if a National League club, are expelled from the league and therefore Chartistani football. Everything else stays the same.

An absolute giant killing for I Can't Stop Me over eventual Hot League 5th place side Laugh Now Cry Later was the highlight of the Second Round, while Step And A Step proved to themselves that no, they cannot beat La Jeepeta away. 3 Headed Goat got past Mood on penalties while Tattoo did the same against Head & Heart. Heading into the Last 16, only I Can't Stop Me and La Jeepeta are the only Bubbling League 2 sides left, as over half of the field is made up by Hot League teams, including the Cup holders, but not the defending Hot League champions as they lost out to Mad At Disney in extra time.

Both 3rd tier sides went out at the Third Round, as I Can't Stop Me were flattered by the eventual Hot League champions while La Jeepeta rolled that Jeep into extra time against 3 Headed Goat, but lost out in the very end. Only 3 Bubbling League 1 sides made the Quarter-Finals, while Tattoo had the only upset of the round, beating top tier Dynamite at home. Joining them are the aforementioned 3 Headed Goat and Excitement!, who beat out last Cup's Semi-Finalist underdogs Vida de Rico to advance to the Quarter-Finals. Wep and Mad at Disney went to a penalty shootout, as the latter club won out in the end.

For the first time in Heatseeers Cup history 2 lower-league sides made the Semi-Finals, both of them earning upsets to make the last 4 of the competition. Excitement! were drawn up against dominant side Wep (Who had IFCF experience under their belt) but held out in the end to secure the W, while Tattoo traveled to Positions to play their tie and inked their way into the next round with a 2-1 win. Got What I Got defeated the defending champions Lemonade 2-0 away from home, while 3 Headed Goat was slaughtered against Don't Touch Me at their home field.

Tattoo became the first second-tier side to reach Billboard for the Heatseekers Cup Final after beating Got What I got 3-1, showcasing that they got what they wanted - A true underdog story to avenge Vida de Rico and get 1 step away from Chartistan's big prize. Excitement! nearly joined them for an all Bubbling League 1 final, but Don't Touch Me would get the better of them 1-0 to book the other spot. Don't Touch Me are looking for an historic domestic double while Tattoo are hoping to become the first 2nd tier side to win the trophy.

The underdogs had their chances to score throughout the game, but ultimately couldn't touch a red hot Don't Touch Me side as they won their first Heatseekers Cup, securing a domestic double in the process and etching their name in Chartistani history. The Cinderella run of Tattoo isn't to be underestimated, however, as they beat 4 straight Hot League sides (Head & Heart, Dynamite, Positions and Got What I Got) to make it to Old Town Park with a shot at lifting the trophy, the maximum streak a lower league side can achieve to reach the Final. In one of the shocks of the Heatseekers Cup, defending Hot League and Heatseekers Cup champions Don't Touch Me fell under the pressure of the Second Round against Birthplace on penalties, sending the team from Gaon (The same team that went to the Champions League playoff round) home incredibly early. A bigger shock than the defending double holders being packed up by a 2nd tier side? Wep getting knocked out at home to 3rd tier Young Life Crisis! This was the year they finished 8th in the league though... Previous Heatseekers Cup finalist Tattoo also got knocked out as well.

Upset kings Vida de Rico (Semi-Finalists in the first Heatseekers Cup) have made the Quarter-Finals once more after their Third Round exit to Excitement! last term. By no means was their win over Forever After All on penalties the biggest shock of the night - Bubbling League 2 are sending 2 teams to the Quarter-Finals, up from the 0 last time around and 1 (Sweet Melody) from the inaugural tournament. Young Life Crisis couldn't get past Dry Flower by Angst pulled off a miracle, beating Hot League team Got What I Got on penalties to secure their place in the Quarter-Finals! Half of the teams in the 3rd to last round will be from the Hot League, the other half... From the 2nd and 3rd tiers!

It was here where all the lower league cards fell down. Whoopty and Vida de Rico were fortunate enough to head to extra time, but fell to Holy and Positions respectively. Angst didn't get much better, losing to previous Heatseekers Cup champions Lemonade in normal time, while I Hope absolutely smashed Dry Flower 3-0 at home. From the Semis on out, it will be all Hot League teams fighting for the Cup...

Lemonade's bid to become the first ever 2 time Heatseekers Cup champions fell at the penultimate hurdle to Positions on penalties, as they made their first ever Final after losing to the same team 2 editions ago in the Quarter-Finals. They will be facing I Hope, who have been to the Final before, only to lose to Lemonade. Although they would like to get their sweet revenge in Billboard, a matchup against Positions will suffice.

Okay, so that "Merging all 4 Chartistani leagues and getting rid of the Heatseekers Cup" idea was true, but not everything about that statement about the future of Chartistani football was true. So here's a little rundown on everything:

• Die From A Broken Heart, Chemtrails Over The Country Club, Cat Girls Are Ruining My Life!, The Saint Of Lost Causes, Lockdown On Date Night Tuesday and Shut Up My Mom's Calling are team names that are over 20 characters long and wouldn't be compatible with the new IFCF name rules. Instead of giving their spots to abcdefu and Cold Heart, however, we just didn't bother and threw them out with no replacements.
• With 58 teams in the Hot League, each team will have a slate of 50 "First Half" games before the league splits into 2 groups of 29 for the "Second Half". Each team will play every other team in their group, but against the teams in their group for a total of 40 games. The top 4 teams in the Top Half go to the IFCF competitions, while the bottom 4 in the Bottom Half are thrown to the delves below and actually get replaced with abcdefu and Cold Heart.
• Yes, each team gets 78 games, but it's fine. We can deal with the backlash later.

For the first time since the 58 team era began in Chartistani football, all 4 newly introduced clubs finished in the Top Half, with Running Up That Hill's deal with God to revive it after a long hiatus paying dividends as it finished 3rd behind only the old and new guards - Rockstar and Don't Touch Me. Champagne Night, which ended the First Half last season on top of the lot and finishing 26th behind Enemy of all teams (Oh the misery), didn't receive an A nor a shot at the title, finishing 33rd. New Boot Goofin's pair of boots has seemed to only rust, placing the side 4th to last heading into the second half. Black Mamba, the previous team that finished 55th, ended up demoted in, well, 55th. Fake Woke is once again flirting with relegation, but everyone's least favorite club were in this position before - And finished 19th out of the bottom half ahead of the Goofin. Maybe lightning can strike twice.

Where were Laugh Now Cry Later at doing doing all this and all that? A surprising title race between the Cana boys and surprise contenders About Damn Time was put to rest on the 2nd to last day with Laugh Now Cry Later all but assured of their first Hot League title, but the challengers can rest easy - In their first season in the Hot League, they'll be coming out to the Challengers Cup as their first taste of IFCF football reckons, joined by regular IFCF qualifiers I Hope and Lemonade. Big Energy almost made it in, as the bad ballers ended up 7th, losing on the final day to Lemonade to deny Vida de Rico a chance to construct IFCF football for themselves. Even then, with an upper Bottom Half finish last season being converted to a 5th place finish this season, plenty are optimistic about the side. Running Up That Hill proceeded to fall to last once the standings reset, but Rockstar and Don't Touch Me, for the first time in DTM's case, faced the glock and were touched respectively, Rockstar finishing 27th and the once-elite club humbled to 17th. To be fair, they DID go far in the newfangled Association's Trophy. Positions had it even worse, finishing 48th.

Melody forgotten, tears not saved, young life crisis averted and note burned. Sweet Melody and Neko headed into the final day as the only 2 teams not knowing their fate, with the bottom 3 already demoted (La Nota getting a record that would make even No Diggity, Slow Dancing In A Parking Lot and Bezos I laugh from beyond the grave of irrelevance). The 2 of them were separated by a point going in Sweet Melody's favor, all they had to do was beat or at least match Neko's result and they were staying in the Hot League. This was not the case - Sweet Melody got hit by My Head (The only club name that features an emote) to a 1-1 draw as Dry Flower stayed level with Neko... Until it didn't. With a 1-0 win away from home, the cats were let out of the bag of shame and the sweet melody that went on and on finally ended.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, all 4 of the bottom 4 teams in the First Half survived the drop. We already know of Neko's heroics to book a spot for next season, but Fake Woke, the team that will never die, ended up 17th out of the bottom half clubs, one-upping last season's performance in down-but-not-outage. La Jeepeta, Chartistan's most memed club, finished in 23rd, behind MH: and ahead of Dry Flower, while New Boot Goofin stayed alive and kept the party going. Enemy, abcdefu and Positions finished in the top 3.

Defending champions Laugh Now Cry Later have seemingly once again found their rhythm heading into the second half of the campaign. A "Damn baby" look at the sheer fact that they got a bye to the 2nd qualifying round was enough to put them 3rd after the 50 game slog, only behind I Hope and First Half winners Big Energy. Big Energy were a team that last season were good enough for middle of the Top Half road then came alive in the 2nd Half and finished 7th. Vida de Rico also picked up where they left off and finished in 4th for the half, with U 2 Luv only getting stronger as they finish right behind the house builders. Last season's runners-up About Damn Time, 3 Headed Goat, A Got What I Got side rebounding from a 15th place 2nd half finish, Challengers Cup lovers Lemonade and Levitating rounded off the top 10 for the First Half.

The top team out of the 4 newcomers was Bad Habit, who finished 12th and comfortably made it into the Top Half with room to spare and a tongue to bite with 86 points. The nearest newcomer to them, Sunroof, also made it into the Top Half but in 20th and with worries on the back of their minds. The other 2 newcomers, the team to beat As It Was and the recipients of the "I'm Owned by That Guy who Was Once Popular 5 Years Ago" award I'm Good (Blue), finished in the Bottom Half 45th and 35th respectively. A far cry from all 4 newcomers last season finishing in the Top Half (And About Damn Time one thicc:30 away from the title), but this is nothing more than the mean.

abcdefu told Mad at Disney and Jimmy Cooks to screw their mothers after failing to respond in earnest to both teams getting 3 points on the final day, as 53rd ranked Jeans pulled them into hell with a 1-0 loss and another trip to the Bottom Half. Agua responded to their 14th place finish last term with concern, from none other than Level of Concern, as they also dropped into the Bottom Half with a 1-0 loss. Running Up That Hill, Driver's License, Excitement! and H or H all slipped from top 29 to bottom 29 as well, but of course, most worry came over to the Bottom 4.

As is a fixture in the Hot League, Fake Woke ended the First Half in the bottom 4 positions, which, according to the Scripture of the Hot League, automatically means they finish like 15th in the Bottom Half. Recariei hasn't been in this position before, but historically they have always turned things up in the 2nd Half and stay alive. Whoopty though? That's another story. Whoopty haven't been in this sort of scenario before, they finished 14th in the Bottom Half and now they were somehow bottom like blue cheese. My Head , however, isn't phased. You know what happens when teams with emojis in their name aren't phased, right?

An unexpected title race between the house builders and the game of love players came all the way down to the final day. With defending champs Laugh Now Cry Later all but confirmed for Challengers Cup football, both teams traveled away, with Mood meeting up with former kingpins DTM (Who could still make the IFCF Challengers Cup should results go the right way) and VDR facing a Tattoo team with nothing to do. Unless they drop points in Gaon, Mood would become champions of Chartistan. If otherwise, and especially with a loss, Vida de Rico would become champions.

Mood proceeded to give up the title with a 3-1 loss to Don't Touch Me. All Vida de Rico needed was a dos a cero against Tattoo to clinch the title, bragging rights, and qualification to the IFCF Champions League.

DTM didn't end up clinching IFCF football after all. The 2 teams above them, 3 Headed Goat and I Hope, both drew 1-1 at home to Big Energy and Ay, Dios Mio! respectively. 3 Headed Goat had one more point to their name and once again made the Challengers Cup, with I Hope once again proving to be a class outfit with a 5th place finish. While the once dominant DTM gained a bit of their glory days back in 6th, Hole In The Bottle, Ay, Dios Mio!, Got What I Got and Champagne Night rounded off the top 10. Rockstar's dominance more and more seems like a thing of the past. 27th place does that to you.

...What did I tell you about Fake Woke finishing 15th?

Before we get to the hell that was this year's relegation fight, let's talk about As It Was and I'm Good (Blue). IGB found life in the bottom half to be easy as they finished 12th, but As It Was had more trouble than expected. Newly added team, tons of promise to see DTM and Rockstar off, and, now they're stuck in perennial relegation contention. Even THEY know it's not the same, that's how bad it was. Come back when you finish in 7th like My Head did.

Okay, now let's talk about the relegation scrapheap. Heading into the final day, 6 teams were in the fight for survival, with only 2 of them being allowed to go up: Birthplace, Jeans, La Jeepeta, Love Not War, Recariei and New Boot Goofin. Recariei and NBG were 3 points behind Birthplace and Jeans for safety, so they had to move hell and high water to survive. Birthplace and Jeans were 3 points above Recariei and NBG so unless they screw up badly they were safe. Stuck in the middle were La Jeepeta and Love Not War, with Jeepeta 1 point below the drop and LNW 2 points behind, survival was doable but they had get everything right to do so. So, how did the final day go?

Of course La Jeepeta had to play Love Not War for survival. With a 3-0 loss at home, the most memed team in Chartistan and the "Team That Will Never Die" finally, mercifully, died. Despite beating Excitement!, however, goal difference wasn't enough to bring New Boot Goofin' on up. Hell, Birthplace lost to Recariei and guess what? Birthplace stayed up. Oh yeah and Love Not War survived as well. 6 teams separated by, what, 2 points at the end? That's the magic of the Chartistan Hot League.

• Jeans, Recariei, New Boot Goofin and La Jeepeta were demoted from the Hot League last season. They were replaced by Anti-Hero, Creepin', Rich Flex and Unholy.
• A new format was introduced for the Hot League. The teams were divided into 4 divisions, 2 of 15 and 2 of 14, each named after a previous Hot League champion team (DTM, aka Don't Touch Me, Blinding [Lights], Rockstar and Vida [de Rico]). Talk about an unholy start from the unholiest of teams! Being placed in the same division as Holy for rivalry reasons, one of the four new teams in Chartistan adjusted to the new division as well as meeting a new lady in the body shop. They almost got full on demoted too, only saved by an even worse off Jimmy Cooks team that, if it wasn't for Hole In The Bottle sipping on wine, would send Unholy to the shadow realm and back to their kids at home. In a division with some of the toughest teams, however, Challengers Cup teams Mood and LNCL made it to the final round, along side U 2 Luv on goal difference over Step And A Step. DTM, once the powerhouse of Chartistani football, finished 6th in their own division.

You know it is really not the same. With a worse record than fellow auto-demote Jimmy Cooks, As It Was went from debut to done in two seasons, a full 8 points behind playoff participants Birthplace as well as Positions, and 11 points behind newcomers Rich Flex and I'm Good (Blue). The team were no good alone indeed. Blinding Lights, who in the last season with Top and Bottom Halves finished 22nd overall, will finish at least 10 places higher as they comfortably made the final round, but not as comfortably as Lemonade, who finished a full 11 points ahead of 4th place Cold Heart (Who also finished 2 points behind Really Love, who clinched the final spot in the division) and won the Blinding title. Will there be enough ice to drip from their necks to win the Hot League?

With Angst already clinching a final round spot and the division title, the final day of the Rockstar Division campaign was a three headed battle for the final two spots that, funnily enough, included 3 Headed Goat. The Challengers Cup team actually headed into the final day two points behind a legacy team in Levitating, renegading in a team with such renegades as abcdefu, the playoff-bound Enemy (Oh the misery) and fellow final round challenger My Head . It only felt like a brick wall could stop them. Its name was Fake Woke. One goal, along with MH: getting a draw with Bloody Valentine, was enough to send Levitating packing and 3 Headed Goat and My Head through to the final round. Mad At Disney also prevailed in the battle of the social media angst darlings not named Angst 8 points ahead of that alphabet team. Newcomers Creepin' finished in 9th place, only behind division namesakes Rockstar on goal difference.

The only newly promoted team to make the final round was Anti-Hero who, in to be frank is the weakest out of the 4 divisions, slipped past former Challengers Cup regulars I Hope, which included a win over reigning Hot League champions Vida de Rico on the final day, despite the fact that they could have lost and I Hope still would have cheated away a final round spot purely because Agua got good at the right time. The top two, which was made up of Vida and Tattoo, ended up 9 points ahead of Anti-Hero and 13 ahead of I Hope, are looking like contenders for the Hot League title. On the other side of the table, the playoff battle between Dry Flower and Love Not War also ended on the final day, where Got What I Got produced perhaps one of the greatest games in the first year of the division era, peeking out a comeback against LNW to keep Dry Flower on dry ground.

Demotion Playoff

Nobody dared to drop the addy in daddy in leg 1 of the demotion playoff, although Unholy refused to back it up and spun up three goals away from home against Love Not War, with survival all but clinched for the new, naughty Official City boys. On the other side, however, Enemy rocked up to their home turf and told themselves that they were the greatest and got two in front of Birthplace. While three for Unholy made a great threesome, could two be enough for Enemy to spare sympathy and stay up?

Love Not War and Birthplace are demoted

...They both ended 3-1 in favor of Unholy and Enemy respectively. Even though Unholy did lose leg two, and if it was a purely points thing would lead into a third, decisive leg, Unholy's scene talking in leg 1 made them cruise back into the Hot League with only a slight bump. Enemy couldn't cruise against Birthplace and, only 2-1 up on aggregate, had less to lose. Even though Birthpace scored to tie the match on aggregate, Enemy actually became a saint and tied things up to absolutely cement their status in the Hot League. As a result, the Blinding Division will have two new teams next season, and the DTM and Rockstar Divisions will have absolutely no new teams next season.

Rules

• The Final Round of the Hot League pits the top 3 teams from each division against each other to decide the champions of Chartistan. Each team will play each other once for a total of 11 games. The team top of the table after the final set of games are crowned Hot League champions and earn spots in the IFCF Champions League and FFI League of Victors, as well as an Associations Trophy berth if they don't qualify for the Champions League or Challengers Cup groups. Second place will earn a place in the Challengers Cup and League of Victors, third and fourth place will enter only the IFCF Champions League, and the remaining 8 teams will participate in a Heatseekers Playoff to determine the FFI Confederations Trophy participants.

Although it was very early days for the Final Round, Mood and U 2 Luv were looking like early contenders for the Chartistani title. Both teams were the only ones remaining who hadn't even dropped a single point or even lost a game through the final stretch of the campaign. A sickenly bad Lemonade side really puts ice on the rest of the competition. Both only conceded twice so far, playing their games so effectively that there was no need for depression... Right?

Might as well wrap up the title race right here. Sure, 11 matchdays isn't a long format at all, but there's good teams that rise up to the top and bad ones who fall to the bottom pretty quickly. And then there was Mood and Lemonade. Mood have the title all but wrapped up with an infinitely superior goal differential to their name. A 13 goal, 9 point gap against U 2 Luv. Surely Mood would cruise to victory and let their foot off the gas, right?

Okay yeah, they're just preparing for the checkered flag close finish with Vida de Rico. Good old manufactured close finish, as they say. 8 wins was enough for them to win the league after all. There is zero chance that Vida de Rico swing the goal gap in their favor, though. Even if Mood get to lose their final game... It's a 7 goal gap. Seven. Information
Due to calls to the Chartistan Hot League Committee (CHLC) about the supposed unfair callup process to the Hot League, the Bubbling League was reinstated ahead of Season 2 of Chart Year 65. Unlike in the 4 tier system used in Chart Year 63, the Bubbling League involves local qualification from the 4 biggest cities in Chartistan - Billboard, Official City, Gaon and Aria, as well as teams demoted from the Hot League from the previous season. 2 teams each season will be promoted from the Bubbling League to the Hot League, and as a second tier competition, the top 3 teams will earn qualification to the IFCF Liga B Champions Trophy.

The Bubbling League is divided into 3 stages:

• City Qualifiers (10 matches) - The teams not already in the Hot League or Bubbling League and therefore are deemed as independents are put into qualifying tournaments to decide the spots not already filled up. For the first season, each city had 5 city qualifiers, but for future seasons, there will be only 2 city qualifiers. The formats of these qualifiers are usually single-legged knockout matches, although in Aria, due to the lack of independent teams, there was a group stage used.
• City Leagues (20 matches) - The city qualifiers are then placed into their own city leagues of 6 teams, joined by one of the 4 demoted teams from the previous Hot League season based roughly on geography or vibes. The teams in these leagues play each other 4 times for a total of 20 matches. The top 3 teams in each league qualify for the Bubbling League Finals.
• Bubbling League Finals (11 Matches) - Like the Hot League Final Round, each team will play each other once in this 12 team group. The top 2 teams are promoted to the Hot League, and will qualify to the Liga B Champions Trophy along with the 3rd place team.

The teams in the Bubbling League Finals automatically qualify for next season's Bubbling League, while the other teams will have to qualify via the city qualifiers. For teams promoted to the Hot League, the next best ranked team in the promoted team's league qualifies for the next Bubbling League in their place. This also stacks if 2 teams from the same league are promoted to the Hot League.

For a first timer playing their first season, CUFF IT were in the mood to have some damn good times indeed. Locked into an improbable division title race between themselves, DTM and reigning Hot League champions (And, yes, IFCF Challengers Cup group stagers) Mood, all 3 teams let off the gas as they already clinched runs to the Final Round. CUFF IT, however, gone where no other top tier team has been and, with their peers losing to the likes of Big Energy and Bad Habit, held a scoreless draw against Hole In The Bottle to win the DTM division. On the other side of the table, Unholy got insanely unlucky and, like As It Was last season, have gone straight down after 2 seasons in the Hot League. At least they get to see the kids they left at home...

At least Unholy wasn't Kill Bill. Yes, for the first time in the history of the Hot League, a team went from new kids on the block to immediately demoted in one of the most tense demotion battles you'd ever see in the Hot League. Heading into the final day, Kill Bill were in 12th, one of 5 teams who could go down, and had the honor to play against Rich Flex for their final fixture of the season. Legend has it that Kill Bill was so in control that they didn't need a therapist before the game, and it backfired horribly, losing 3-1 at home to the boys from the Cana district and, with other results not going their way, ended up killing their chances at a second Hot League season rather than their ex. Not. The best. Idea. IGB will have a shot at staying up in the demotion playoff, while division namesakes Blinding Lights, Really Love and Lemonade advance to the Final Round, all having advanced to the top of the pops last season.

It didn't help that the Rockstar Division didn't see any new teams come in to challenge 3HG, ANG and MH:, but those exact same 3 teams once again advanced to the Final Round, but this time it wasn't Angst lifting the Rockstar title, it was the only team in the known multiverse with a smilie as part of their team name: My Head . They didn't take a single bump on their way to lifting the division trophy, getting past Angst by 1 point. 3 Headed Goat, however, was challenged late on by Levitating when it came to a spot in the final 12, but ultimately took them for a ride towards, well, nowhere. Like last season, of course, Enemy (Oh the misery) will find itself fighting for its life in the demotion playoff.

What exactly is in the waters of Gaon that makes their teams this good?

Okay, here's the important bits - This is the first time that 2 newly promoted teams, in this case CUFF IT and Ditto, have made the Final Round. Anti-Hero was the first to do it in the 4 division era last season, but in a transitional phase it wasn't really a litmas test of the potential of the new teams. Welp, look what's happened now. Heading into the final day, unlike CUFF IT, Ditto were 6th in the table, but still 2 points below the cut line established by a Got What I Got side that finished up the campaign, with Ay, Dios Mio! and Vida de Rico having secured first and second respectively. They needed Agua and Anti-Hero, both with aspirations of title charges, to faulter. And that's what they all did - Agua drew with Vida de Rico, while Anti-Hero lost against Dry Flower. With a 2-1 win against Kaikai Titan, Gaon would have its second representative in the Final Round. And knowing the Scripture of the Hot League... It might be a title challenge for the hot upstarts.

Demotion Playoff

Leg 1

At this rate, the demotion playoffs would make nobody a saint. IGB and Neko played out to a tense 1-1 draw in Billboard, letting go of all assumptions that this match was actually going to mean something. What was more interesting, however, was Enemy v ADT. 2-1 up against About Damn Time, Enemy's haters actually began to turn up and turned joy into misery, making About Damn Time come out with 2 goals of their own to secure a one goal lead heading into the second leg. And with 3 away goals to their name, unless Enemy could win by a convincing margin, no sympathy will be spared.

There is something about away goals aggregate wins that feels more special than it really gives itself credit for. Either that or IGB proceeded to rock up to the cat's den and demonstrate that they actually do a little bit better away than at home. Either way, the insufferable radio-backed team were granted a lifeline to stay in the Hot League. Enemy, on the other hand, were mere moments away from setting up an unprecedented tiebreaker leg on neutral ground (Don't ask the Chartistan Hot League Committee why they did that instead of extra time in the second leg), before ADT realized something.

With a last second howler, no sympathy was spared. Enemy were heading down. At the very least they have the Bubbling League...

Rules

• The Final Round of the Hot League pits the top 3 teams from each division against each other to decide the champions of Chartistan. Each team will play each other once for a total of 11 games. The team top of the table after the final set of games are crowned Hot League champions and earn spots in the IFCF Champions League and FFI League of Victors, as well as an Associations Trophy berth if they don't qualify for the Champions League or Challengers Cup groups. Second place will earn a place in the Challengers Cup and League of Victors, third and fourth place will enter only the IFCF Champions League, and the remaining 8 teams will participate in a Heatseekers Playoff to determine the FFI Confederations Trophy participants.

Here lies the tale of the two Final Round rookies - On one side of the table, CUFF IT were taking flight after quite the rocky start, losing to Vida de Rico and My Head before whiffing off two wins of their own against sudden bottomfeeders Ay, Dios Mio! and Really Love to squeeze, at least for now, into the IFCF spots. Ditto, on the other hand, were struggling to even get wins and, true to their name, copied whatever scoreline the other team had in Matchday 2. Towards the top of the table, Mood are proving that, even with the surprise run to the Associations Trophy Quarter-Finals, they could still fight for sweet, sweet Chartistani silverware. The only problem, however, is that Angst were right on their heels.

That's the sound of your team, chosen probably because they're the new hip thing and perhaps even As It Was but good, being absolutely mid in the section of the season where you had to be great. With 3 matchdays left, they're the only team mathematically eliminated from the title. 4 draws, 4 losses, not even a single win. Crushed 5-1 by My Head. 10th place My Head. Meanwhile the other newly promoted team in the title hunt in CUFF IT looked like they were frontrunners for the title after going on a fantastic run for a club of their quality, before dropping points in a round where everyone was dropping points, having a leg down on the comptition with a goal difference among the title fighting teams that's only beaten by Ay, Dios Mio!. And yet somehow they were one point behind Vida de Rico for the title. With 8 teams all within arms reach, buckle up for a bumpy ride.

Congratulations Ditto! You SOMEHOW won a game in the Final Round and, along the way, actually completely destroyed CUFF IT's momentum in the only match against them all season. It was only a long time coming and in a match where the only thing that could possibly change is the points they had (And also goals scored and goal difference, but still), but at least it's a win! Now let's see this team get to 11th place! Oooooooooo!

In all seriousness though, this matchday knocked the wind off of many teams sails and left them without a realistic shot at the title. Lemonade and My Head joined Ditto in the mathematically eliminated collumn, with DTM 99.999% sure they won't lift the title. Mood, CUFF IT, 3 Headed Goat and Really Love all still have a shot at the title, but need hell and high water in order to reach the summit. At the very top, it appears to be a 4 horse race - Vida de Rico are leading after the turn with Angst not that far behind them, even if it's far enough to not be considered neck and neck, while Blinding Lights and Ay, Dios Mio! are close behind hoping to be the dark horses to spoil the frontrunners and their chances of being champions of Chartistan.

In what was perhaps the game of the season, and the biggest game in the history of Angst up to that point, they only gone and charged ahead of Vida de Rico. A brilliant display against Blinding Lights, as well as Ay, Dios Mio! becoming the 3rd and final challenger after upsetting Vida de Rico was all they needed in order to be the gatekeepers to the title. They were one point ahead of 2nd and 3rd. Nobody else could compete at this point, except for the one lone Challengers spot and seeding for the Heatseekers.

The winner of this tournament qualifies for the FFI Confederations Trophy. There are no reseedings, and the higher seeded team plays that specific fixture at home.
