So...why Cosumar? Why Ethane? Why together?
Though Cosumar and Ethane are in different regions (Atlantian Oceania & Esportiva), Cosumar is located in the far northeast of AO, just a short straight-line flight across the sea from the far northwest of Esportiva, where Ethane is located. Cosumar and Ethane are trading partners and international allies, share similar liberal-democratic systems of government and similar cultural values (prioritizing education and the environment). A Cup of Harmony co-hosted by these likeminded nations is sure to be harmonious indeed. In terms of sport, soccer/football is the favorite sport of both Cosumar and Ethane, swelling in popularity and success over recent decades. While Ethanian football infrastructure is not quite as developed as that in Cosumar, both are well-developed and share a continued rapid growth. Here’s a little more about each country:
The Fiefdom of Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy just east of Audioslavia. The primary landmass is called Cosumarus, with the smaller Klyde Isle to the east and some scattered archipelagos to the west. The geography is quite diverse, from the sunny southwest to the barren central steppes to the enchanting forests of the north (home of the famous Cosumarite Azure Dragon). The largest population centers (especially Kaldukosic and capital Ramusok) are on the moderate east coast. All of these lands are divided into 21 historical “fiefs”. Cosumar also has numerous extraterrestrial colonies and is a leader in space transportation & exploration. The current year of the Cosumarite calendar is 1010, marking the number of years since the “First 5800” (hopelessly lost migrants of unknown origin and diverse ethnicity) crashed upon the northern shores of Klyde Isle. That’s where it all started. Today, the population exceeds 900 million. Cosumarites are now famous for their welcoming nature, belief in complete civil freedoms and harmonic balance between nature and technology. Many of our innovations help when hosting international events. For example, most Cosumarites have implanted chips to understand most of the world’s major languages, and our TransCosumar Hyperloop monorail system connects the entire country at speeds exceeding 700 mph.
Ethane has a population of around 15 million. It is known for its technological sector, which drives forward innovation in the country and around the world, especially in green energy and computing. However, many other sectors, such as the book publishing sector, are strengthening. Ethane is a beautiful country, full of amazing landscapes and far-reaching city skylines. From the mountains and lakes of the Isle of Lowe to the farmlands of Tyrielie, with the large cities dotted around the country, the nation has a diverse range of landscapes and natural beauty to witness. Ethane also has a very variable climate, with stark differences between days. One day, it can be really warm and sunny, the perfect day to go to the beach, and the next day a storm is rolling up the coast from McKleigh, making for interesting weather dynamics in the nation, with the mountains of Whiltshire and Lowes receiving snow half the year.
SELECTION & FORMAT
Instead of shoehorning nations in or squeezing others out to fit a predetermined format or number of participants, we are flexible and willing to work with a few different set-ups depending on how many RPers meet the participation baseline we have agreed upon privately.
Our most ideal formats are listed below (all single round-robin), though we also have contingency plans to work with larger or smaller pools as needed.
32 nations, 8 groups of 4, top two in each advance to Ro16 (A1-B2, etc.)
35 nations, 7 groups of 5, top two in each advance + top two third-placers (seeded by place in group first and then tiebreakers)
40 nations, 8 groups of 5, top two in each advance
As stated above, we have agreed upon a minimum level of World Cup participation we are looking for in invitees. We are looking for competency/quality, consistency and, most of all, effort. Rest assured, no favoritism will come into play when handing out invites. If you made meaningful contributions to World Cup 77, you will very likely receive an invitation.

SCORINATION & RP BONUS
We intend to use Xkoranate, using the SGIS formula, developed by San Jose Guayabal, to score the tournament. We believe this formula to be superior to the SQIS and SLIS, as it is not too easy on the lower-ranked nations like SQIS nor too easy on the higher-ranked nations like SLIS. It therefore acts as a meet-in-the-middle formula, which balances the advantage of the higher-ranked team with the need to give the lower-ranked team a realistic chance, ideally giving neither more chance than they should have to win. The formula worked successfully in the previous Campionato Esportiva (hosted by San Jose Guayabal and Ethane).

Both Cosumar and Ethane see the Cup of Harmony as an opportunity for committed players to enjoy a competitive end to their cycle. Cosumar in particular has benefited from this tournament, RPing to three CoH medals (and one title) which propelled him to KPB top ten status, and so has Ethane - on track to qualify for the first time after three prior CoH entries. Both of us are eager to pay it forward and continue that tradition. Therefore, we will use an RP Bonus system that aims to reward those who truly want to build upon their World Cup performance and achieve higher through quality roleplay. We will therefore provide a generous bonus as to encourage committed RP, and provide those who do with a chance to succeed.
Cosumar and Ethane also plan to provide additional RP opportunities for idea fodder. They will be completely optional, but could provide extra inspiration for people to participate, think outside the box and interact with each other and their host nations.
EXPERIENCE
The user behind Cosumar has been an active member of NS Sports since the summer of 2010. Over the last seven years, particularly in the last four, he has proven himself as an active RPer and reliable contributor to the community who can handle increased responsibilities. Cosumar's hosting portfolio to date includes Baptism of Fire 62, World Bowl XXVII, World Lacrosse Championships XX, Beach Cup II & V (as Sarrbia) and a solo tennis tournament. He has also scored conferences in countless editions of NSCAA and NSCF. He has served as Commissioner of NSCF for the last three editions, proving his organized nature and attention to detail, and is also the President of the World Lacrosse Federation. All events overseen by Cosumar have been successfully hosted to completion with no issues. He also maintains an extensively RPed five-tier soccer pyramid entering its 22nd season and NS Sports' most detailed domestic gridiron league. ICly, Cosumar has also hosted the Finals of all three UICA tournaments and the AOCL.
The user behind Ethane is no stranger to hosting large events either. The nation started off its hosting career through holding the first Gaelic Football World Championships in Ethane. The nation has also been host to the Aurorealis Football League, 11th World Junior Hockey Championships, the Handball World Cup XVI, two tennis tournaments for the NSTT (one as a stand-in) and the most recent Campionato Esportiva. However, the most prestigious events Ethane has hosted so far are World Bowl and the International Basketball Championship. Naturally, not all these events ran perfectly, with logistical errors and errors of judgement in a few cases, but the mistakes have been deeply learnt from and will not be repeated. While the user behind Ethane may not be the most experienced member of the board, he has established himself in the forum and displayed his hosting capabilities through the many events he has hosted. Furthermore, the user behind this nation has shown his ability to handle a position of responsibility as Vice President of the International Basketball Organization.
