2nd NS Archery Open Tour (OOC; NSAO2 BIDDING REOPENED)

Welcome to the second edition of the NationStates Archery Open! Since the successful NSAO1 in Mattijana, the competition has changed a bit.

Firstly, newbies interested in this may be asking, what is this archery tournament? Is it even an open? Well, if you have no clue what NSAO basically is, then listen closely. The NS Archery Open is (or in this case, was. *wink wink nudge nudge*) a tournament for, you guessed it, archery. The tournament is split into two categories, team and individual. The team event is something your nation automatically participates in when you sign up. The individuals event can be entered after signing up and posting the roster of the host's desired # of archers per nation. Those archers will also act as the roster of the national team.

Following committee discussions and the 1st NSAOC Conference, the format of NSAO2 will be shifted into a tour-like cycle, with 3-4 NSAO-sponsored tournaments leading up to the main event at the end of every cycle, the NSAO itself. Now, as the competition is relatively young right now, cycles will only last around 3-4 months each, then a break before restarting. This thread will act as the 1. The OOC thread for the entirety of the NSAO2 tour. 2. The sign-up thread for the first tournament of the NSAO2 tour and 3. The bid thread for the entire NSAO2 tour.

NSAO utilizes a sport unlike most sports in the NS Multiverse (where archery has bows and sharp arrows while the World Cup has footballs/soccer balls and nets). Hosting one of the smaller tournaments is a great way to start blossoming into a scorinating master, while the main tourney would be much more appropriate in a more scorinating-experienced nation. But don't let that stop you from bidding! The tour will start sometime in November (when the first host is ready) and will continue on until February or March, 2017. So the schedule should look hopefully something like this—

First Tournament- November 2016

Second Tournament- CANCELLED

Third Tournament- May-June 2017

Fourth Tournament- June 2017

2nd NS Archery Open Proper- August 2017

To sign-up for tourney 1 (which is what this thread is right now), simply say something like "I'm in!" or something weird like that along with your nation trigram. Trigrams are not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged, as it just makes things much easier for when we update the rankings (Kudos to committee member, House of Judah, for creating the NSAO rankings spreadsheet). Puppets may be limited to 1 (meaning 2 nations per user per tourney).

South Shellfort is a rainy, tropical archipelago set in the mid of the Atlantic Ocean and home to 81 million of people with little to no differences between winter and summer. Its capital is a commercial, glass and concrete city named Atlanticus. South Shellfort was colonized by four European nations through the history: England, France, Portugal and Spain, however, the only federally accepted language is English.

The Mondial Archery Tournament, Eastcourt 2016 is hosted in Eastcourt, a landlocked peaceful and liberal city home to 4 million of South Shellfortians which climate is warm like its inhabitants. Main means of transportation includes an extensive network of public funded buses, taxis, cycling lanes and cars. Eastcourt is the safest city in South Shellfort and has the third largest policemen battalion, only behind Atlanticus and Milkden. Education and social equality still priorities since the administration of Susan Rose, now democratically elected Queen of South Shellfort two months ago, so racism and sexism won't be a headache to anyone. It will be held at Downtown Convention Center (DCC), a covered area of 300 square meters just two streets away from the City Hall.

Eastcourt were until 1950 the judiciary capital of Shellfort, hence its name. The city has a strong tradition of theaters, sporting venues, and surprisingly healthy fast food. Colonial Revival is the predominant style of architecture for houses and local shops in Eastcourt while the recently built locals have an International tone. Eastcourt's economy is based on commerce and agriculture, with industries playing a small role of 5%.

Familiar with xkoranate and NSFS 3.0.1, two months ago my first So Been here since Summer 2015, I abandoned my older nation due to "lack of creativity". Created South Shellfort in early April 2016 and joined the forum on the same day (3rd April). It would be my first time in scorinating a tournament, nonetheless, it isn't my first RP.

•Format for both Team & Individuals

A ranking round for both individuals and teams; the last ranked will 'battle" with the first ranked, the second best ranked with the second worst ranked and so on (for teams and individuals). Not gender-specific tourney, the rest will happen like the NS Archery Open 1 in Mattijana

•Tiebreakers & RP Bonuses

Tiebreakers: Rematch between the two participants OR the one who scored more points in previous match wins.
RP Bonuses: 0,050 skill points with 10% of absolute effect.

RP bonuses will be rewarded on the quantity of detail and quality of writing. Abusive detailing will be received negatively. Grammar and spelling also count, but they aren't most important than a captivating story or news.

Royal Judean Archery Cup

Tourney 3 Bid

Hosting City: Yafo, Judea

The Royal Judean Archery Cup is the latest revival of the archery tournaments first held by King Yitzchak in 1008 CE. Organized by the Royal Society of Judean Archers, the federation which oversees competitive archery in Judea by royal charter, the Cup will become the centerpiece of Judean archery, hosting the finest archers in all the multiverse as they come together to compete in Judea.

The Society reviewed numerous locations for the Cup to be held and ultimately decided on the seaside metropolis of Yafo. The city is known for its beautiful beaches, friendly people and twenty-four hour nightlife. Restaurants feature cuisines from all over the world, ranging from hand-crafted sushi bars to beach hot dog shacks. Yafo is also a center for culture, holding the highest concentration of modern art museums in Judea as trailing only Yerushalayim herself for museums over all.

Archers attending the Cup will be hosted in the Crown Plaza Casino & Hotel in Yafo, a luxury resort on the beaches of the city. Within, guests will find a spa, casino floor, art museum and nine different restaurants, bars and dance clubs. Surfing, parasailing, scuba diving and other aquatic activities are all available with a short walk from the hotel onto the beach.

Each participating nation will be represented by a maximum of six (6) archers in the individual tournament and can also field a team of archers in the team tournament. The top sixteen (16) archers and eight (8) teams to enter the tournaments will bypass the qualifiers. All others will participate in a mass shoot for qualification. Exact format will depend on the number of entrants, but the individual tournament main draw is projected for sixty-four (64) participants while the team tournament is projected for thirty-two (32) participating teams. Archers will be ranked in the mass shoot by points, with tie breakers of most-bullseyes over leas-misses. All other ties will be settled by lots. The archers and teams that bypass the qualifiers will receive the top seeds for the main draw and qualifying archers and teams will be seeded by their ranking. The semifinalists who fail to advance to the finals will face each other in a match for third place.

OOC INFO:

I’ve ran two jousting tournaments (one on NS Sport and the other on my region’s forum) using a custom scorinator and guest scorinated matches for World Bowl XXX and AOpen II. The scorinator I will use is the xkoronate Men’s recurve individual/team for the individual/team tournament. The bonus used will be a combination of the log of the archer's or team's ranking points and RP bonus points. I’ve been participating in NS Sports since May of this year.

Petrovijanka Open

Tourney 2 Bid

Host City: Petrovijanka, Mattijana

The Petrovijanka open aims to capitalise on a huge surge in enthusiasm for the sport of archery after the successful hosting of the inaugural NSAO.

Mattijana is a huge, safe nation with a mildly socialist government and population of sports-lovers, aided by government funding which makes sports easily accessible for most of the population. The country's size means climate is varied, but it ranges from very chilly in the North to semi-desert in the far South. There are hills in the centre-north of the country and mountains in the centre which enjoy year-round snow in some areas.
The country has a love of field hockey, the official national sport, as well as Cricket, tennis and Winter Sports, particularly skeleton. Having said that, other sports are popular and there is an impressive Olympic track record in athletics, rugby and kayaking.

The competition will once again be held at the MattijanaTierŽentrar just outside the centre of Petrovijanka. It is an old facility, but has recently been given a revamp and refurbish to suit the needs of an Olympic-standard archery competition.
Since NSAO1 the planned roof has been fitted, offering spectators more shade from the occasionally warm-ish sun, the last step in a lengthy renovation process that has seen the facility transformed into a world-class venue for archery competitions.

Format:

The format will remain largely the same as in NSAO1 with the exception that the individual competition will be enlarged to 4 archers per nation, with a ranking round deciding the 16, 32 or 64 (depending on numbers of participants) to progress to a series of knockout rounds. The team competition will also consist of a ranking round followed by a series of knockout rounds in the same style. In both competitions, the best performer in the ranking round will play the worst, 2nd v 2nd bottom, etc...
Finals day will consist of a third place play off between losing semi-finalists and a final between the winning semi-finalists.
Once again, participating nations will automatically gain entry to the team competition, but will need to post the names of their individual archers in the IC thread.
Both competitions are not gender-specific.

Experience and OOC info:

Mattijana played host to the successful inaugural tournament and has been involved in NS Archery from its infancy. We also co-hosted the most recent edition of the Cricket World T20 alongside Liventia and have a large amount of Rping experience over about 2 and a half years on the forums.
The scorinator used will be the men's recurve individual/team on Xkorinate á la NSAO1. A small RP bonus per post is guaranteed with further bonus earned by a grading system with marks for detail, creativity and quality of writing.
