Hannah Miller had an international debut to remember, as she picked up an assist inside the first minute of the Suns' opening clash with 95X. 95X started with the ball, but Miller swooped on the second pass from Foureleven to Sunset, before feeding a lobbed ball over the top for Martin Bailey to head home. Bailey's goal was the fastest goal ever scored by a Barunian in international competition, and the second fastest by a Barunian ever, just behind Leon Reno's 30-second stunner in the 1st year of the X-League.

It was also the only goal of the match, with neither Collins-Holzknecht or Bailey able to capitalise on their chances, while a strong defensive effort kept the 95Xer's goalless in their first World Cup match in a long time. Not even the return of 95X legend Xi Foureleven from retirement could break through the wall that is Paul Bainbridge, with the veteran shot-stopper proving he still has what it takes, despite being in his late thirties.

While the single goal on the sheet might suggest a dull game, it was anything but; with excellent defensive performances on both sides the showcase. 95X players Bo Foureleven (Husband of Xi) and Wu Fivetwelve were outstanding, while teenager Sophie Riverforest made a good showing in her first game after coming off the bench. On the Barunian side, Daniel Kyrow was excellent at defensive midfield, while McClelland and Benitez impressed with their trademark aggressiveness.

Many Barunians might have been surprised to learn that the former World Champions are ranked below the Suns, but that is the case, with the Firebirds ranked 27th in the world. Barunia, on the other hand, have crept into the top 10, sitting in 10th place just ahead of Valanora. The ranking system counts the last three World Cups, and with three qualifications, plus two appearances beyond the group stage of the finals, Barunia have crept up into the exclusive club. Osarius failed to qualify for the last World Cup, and also missed out on the Cup of Harmony, which would have given them some extra ranking points.

With their rank, the Barunians made it into the first pot of the draw, while the Osarians were in the second. Thus, this game 2 matchup sees the top seeds fight it out. It was even money as far as the pundits were concerned, with predictions going either way. That is would be close was inevitable. That it would be a tie was acceptable, for many, including Barunian coach Joric Ruskin, who said that the team was happy with the one point. "The important thing is not to lose games against the better sides in this group. The plan for qualification is simple: get the job done against the small-fry and get the three points, and don't lose to Osarius or Boring Paradise. Do that, one of the top two spots is ours." Akio Sweet, who plays in Osarius for Firewood City, said that it was great experience playing against some familiar faces, including some of his club teammates - an experience that is also incredibly rare, giving the amount of nations, the randomness of world cup groups, and the fact that most Barunians play domestically. Sweet is just one of two players on the national team to play outside Barunia - the other is Kassandra Berry, who plays in Equestrian States.
The Barunians started with the lead after Collins-Holzknecht struck in the 13th minute, but Osarius responded with two of their own before half time. After the break, It was Kass Berry who got the equaliser, backing up after Bailey missed a cross from Cartwright on the opposing win.

Osarius then went back in front in the 76th minute, after a corner. Seconds earlier Liesel McClelland had made a brilliant sliding save after the Osarian striker got between Bainbridge and goal, her effort deflecting the ball across the baseline. Unfortunately, the resulting corner found the same striker at the far post, who got the header right on target.
It looked like the game might be going the way of the firebirds, but Collins-Holzknecht showed why her nickname is the pocket rocket, showing a good turn of speed as she threaded through the defence and nailed a shot into the bottom corner, to level the score at three-all. That's where it stayed, and the Suns and Firebirds shared the points.
The draw puts both teams at the top of the table in Group 16, with Osarius just ahead of the Suns on goal difference, having beaten Erathore 3-0 on day one. That nation has yet to record a win, having gone down to The New North African Republic today, while in the day's other game, Mercedini inflicted a humiliating 7-2 thumping on 95X, leaving that team on the bottom of the ladder.

Lex Talionis, Part Three

Otavice, Jugoskania, Anglatia

Audra turned to look at the door to Bisera’s room and saw that two more people had gone in, a man and a woman. The woman had shiny black hair framing her square face, and her eyes were the lightest shade of grey that Audra had ever seen, as light as a thinly clouded sky. But her most distinguishing feature was a large scar running from the corner of her mouth down her left cheek and up to her left earlobe, which gave her the appearance of having a slight serial killer smile. All in all, it made for a very startling combination in looks.

The two gunmen, Justin and Nicolai, grunted before they lowered their guns as they had been ordered to do. The scarred woman then turned to Bisera and nodded. Bisera turned to Audra and said, “This is your chance. Tell me exactly what the hell is going on, Audra. I don’t want to see you dead too, but these guys… they’re not so forgiving, if you know what I mean.”

Audra cleared her throat and gathered her thoughts. She didn’t know what had possessed her when she told Bisera that she was doing this all against her will when in fact, she was a willing member of the Crows. Now she understood why she had said that: the guys in the room looking at her and holding guns were all members of the Huesca Cartel, one of the Crows’ bigger rivals. The gunmen and the new arrivals all had the Catholic cross tattooed on their necks, the sign of full membership in the Huesca Cartel. Audra knew that the Huescas took no prisoners when it comes to the Crows, but they also had a soft spot for people in the gangs who were reluctant to join, and that was the image that Audra tried to cultivate of herself.

Audra said that she had a debt to the Crows that she had to repay by becoming part of the Crows, but she knew that that was a lie to save her skin. But the rest of her tale was true, or partially true. Erin and Britt had to be taken to Otavice so the Crows could “convince” them to drop their charges against the gang. But the pair had been reluctant to take the Crows’ deal (which involved both girls leaving Anglatia and not playing football anymore), so Audra had been told to take Bisera to Otavice to “help” in the negotiations. When it turned out that Bisera had followed Britt and Erin to Otavice, the Crows quickly made plans to visit her. Audra had asked Slobo, who was actually her boyfriend, not to hurt Bisera, but she hadn’t expected that it would go so far as rape.

“What?” the woman with the scarred face thundered. “Bisera, is that true? Did one of these fucking Crows try to rape you?”

“God, Amy, what do you think?” Bisera said. “That’s why I haven’t let you guys shoot Audra just yet. She’s still hiding something from me. I can feel it.”

“But that’s the truth, Bisera!” Audra shouted. “I risked my life just so the Crows wouldn’t smash your knees and end your career, but I really wasn’t expecting Slobo trying to rape you! I should have warned you, Bisera, but I’m always at Slobo’s side. I’m so sorry, Bisera.”

“Just get out of here, Audra,” Bisera said quietly. “I’m not sure I’m ready to accept your apology yet.”

“Bisera, I—”

“Get out!”

Audra opened her mouth to speak and quickly closed it again when she realized that she was at a loss for words. Instead, she just raised her hands and walked away from the scene under the watchful gaze of the gunmen named Justin and Nicolai, who kept tracking Audra until she disappeared from sight down the hallway.

“God, those Crows just want me to kill them all more and more each day,” Amelia Pena muttered once Audra had left. “First, they harass my uncle’s legitimate businesses, and then they all but declare war on me when they shot up the May 26 Stadium back in 2018, and now this! When I see this Slobo guy, I’ll make sure that he suffers before I have him killed very, very slowly.” She then sat down on the bed beside Bisera and asked, “Are you sure you’re all right, B?”

“Don’t worry about me, Amy,” Bisera replied. “Slobo didn’t get to finish before your guys got here. Thanks for that, I guess.”

“But are you really okay, though? You look a little too upbeat for someone who just got almost raped.”

Bisera didn’t answer Amy directly. Instead, Bisera glanced at the men in the room, and Amy nodded her head in understanding as she took the hint. “Matt, Justin, Nicolai, could you guys take care of the mess that we made outside?” Amy said.

“Sure thing, sis,” Mateo Rey Pena, Amy’s brother and fraternal twin, said, and he nodded at the two gunmen before the three men went out.

“Amy, can I tell you something that I’ve never told anyone before?” Bisera asked.

“Sure, B,” Amy replied. “But if you’re coming out to me right now, let me just say that I’m not available. I’m heterosexual.”

“No, it’s nothing like that, Amy,” Bisera said. “Besides, the world is already full of gay footballers. Miriam and Tonya, for one. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Amy, you wanna know why I’m not that freaked out by being almost raped? I’ve never told anyone else about this, but I’ve been raped before. Like, actually raped. I never said anything back then because the memories were still too painful, but tonight showed me that there are much worse things out there than rape. That’s why I look like I’m taking things in stride. Oh, don’t get me wrong, Amy; it sucks to have this thing almost happen to me a third time, but I’m just sitting here thinking that almost getting raped is somewhat worse than actually being raped. I’m weird that way.”

“Oh, Bisera, you definitely got that right,” Amy said. “The last part about being weird, I mean.” She shook her head. “Well, you definitely can’t stay here for the night. The police are going to be swarming over this place after that battle outside your room. They’re going to want to question you about what happened tonight. You don’t want that, do you?”

“I don’t think I understand everything that’s just happened that I’ll make sense to someone else even if I want to talk about it,” Bisera said.

“Well, you can stay with me for as long as you want. My place is probably much more better than this dump.”

“Thanks, Amy. Oh, and about that thing we talked about earlier, how’s it going?”

“We’re having difficulty with it, but hopefully we’ll get lucky with that sometime soon. I really hope that this plan of yours works, B.”

“I hope that Britt and Erin are still alive for the plan to even be worth it,” Bisera muttered.

Amy Pena’s words proved prophetic as police indeed swarmed over the motel where the latest chapter in the ongoing war between the Crows and the Huesca Cartel had played out. At least ten people from both groups had been found dead in the motel, along with hundreds of bullets and spent casings. There were unconfirmed rumors that Hunsen Loggers’ Bisera Haralampieva was staying at the motel when the battle erupted, but the police had found neither hide nor hair of Haralampieva, so there was nothing to back up the rumors.

But the rumors were true. Bisera Haralampieva was indeed at the motel when the gunfight took place. In fact, Bisera was the reason why the Crows and the Huescas had fought in the first place. The Crows had wanted to get to Bisera to convince her teammates at Hunsen, Erin Jensdottir and Britt Hanokssen, to drop their case against the gang, while the Huesca Cartel had been tasked with protecting Bisera by their leader, Amelia Pena.

Bisera was now staying with Amy Pena at the latter’s spacious penthouse suite in one of the hotels owned and operated by the legitimate arm of the Huesca Cartel. And while Bisera would have willingly gone with Amy anyway, the media storm around the rumor that she was at the motel where the gunfight took place just convinced her that she had made the right decision by going with Amy.

“Oh, Amy, how did a young girl like me get involved in shit like this?” Bisera asked as Amy walked into the room in the suite where Bisera had bedded down.

“You could ask the same thing about me, B,” Amy replied. “How did a girl like me end up losing my leg, becoming a decorated war hero, and then becoming basically one of the most notorious people in Abanhfleft, mentioned in the same breath as Leslie al-Dutrus, Andreas Markovich, In To Wat, and Fructuoso Arellano?”

“Arellano? Wasn’t he the guy who screwed your uncle over some gold bars?”

“Yeah, he was. Fucking Fruity Arellano. Did you know that he was on the same squad I was back in the Fhulghamous? I should’ve shoved him over the grenade. It would’ve saved us all a whole lot of misery.”

“And you’d have probably ended up dead,” Bisera said. “Things probably happened the way they happened for a reason. Don’t worry about what could have been. You’ll get your revenge on Fruity soon enough.”

“How’s it going, ladies?” Mateo Pena, Amy’s fraternal twin brother, said as he walked in. He couldn’t be any more different from his sister. Mateo, or Matt as his nickname was, had bright red hair, ludicrously pale skin which put his face freckles on very prominent display, and he was tall and stocky compared to the short and willowy Amy. But one look at his eyes was more than enough to prove that he and Amy were brother and sister. Matt’s eyes were the same shade of grey that Amy’s were, but there was a thin ring of green around his gray eyes that made him just that little bit different from Amy.

But just like Amy, Matt was very much involved in the dirty side of the Huesca Cartel.

“All quiet on this front, Matt,” Amy said. “We’re just waiting for someone else to make the next move.”

“Isn’t that a dumb move, sis?” Matt asked. “We’re basically reacting when we should have been acting. And what are we doing here anyway aside from protecting Bisera?”

“Bisera needs our help to help save her friends,” Amy replied. “We’d have taken them now already if only we knew where the Crows are holding them.”

“If the Crows are even holding them right now,” Matt muttered.

At that moment, a cellphone rang in the room. “That’s mine,” Bisera said. “I’m charging it, but you can unplug it and give it to me.”

“Here you go,” Matt said as he took Bisera’s phone from the outlet and handed it to her. “Who’s Audra?” he asked.

Bisera and Amy looked at one another. “She used to be a friend of mine,” Bisera said, “but give it to me anyway. I don’t think she got my message yet.” Bisera answered the call. “Audra, I already told you, this is only going to make things worse between the two of us,” she said.

But Audra appeared to not have heard what she just said. Audra said, “Bisera, it’s happening tonight.”

“What? What’s happening tonight?”

“Britt and Erin. The Crows are going to kill them tonight.”

“What! Why are you telling me this, Audra?” Bisera asked her.

“You know damned well why I’m telling you about this, Bisera,” Audra replied. “You’re rolling with the Huesca Cartel, B. I saw the tattoos on the guys with you last night. You’re a gangster, just like me.”

“I’m not a gangster, Audra. I’m not part of the Huesca Cartel. And why are you telling me this? You haven’t answered that.”

“I don’t even know, Bisera. I’m dead if Slobo finds out about this. But I do know this: Britt’s my friend, and I know that she’s close to you. I don’t want to have to kill her, but I’ve got no choice if she’s still with Erin by tonight.”

“All right, fine. Where are they?”

Audra gave Bisera the address of a hotel deep in Crow-controlled territory. “They’re staying in Room 1117,” she furnished. “You better do it quick, B. Leave Erin behind for me. It’s Britt I want you to save.”

“Audra, wait!” But Audra had already hung up. Amy and Matt were looking at Bisera, obviously waiting to hear what she had to say.

“Erin and Britt are about to die,” Bisera told them. “The Crows are going to kill them tonight unless we can do something about it.”

“Isn’t this why you called us down here in the first place, B?” Amy asked.

“Exactly,” Bisera said. “Are you ready for this, guys? Have we got the things we need for this?”

“Just in the nick of time, too,” Matt said. “Justin and Nicolai just told me that they received the two packages a few minutes ago. I was going to tell you that right now but then Bisera’s friend called and distracted all of us.”

“Get the boys ready, Matt,” Amy said. “We’ve got two girls to save.”

WORLD CUP 76 QUALIFIERS: VELDGOUWEN VS ABANHFLEFT

VELDGOUWEN - Abanhfleft were held to a goalless draw by Veldgouwen as the home side produced an effective defensive display that stymied the Lady Revolutionaries.

Abanhfleft held the upper hand since the start of the match but they were not able to make their dominance count in the most important aspect of the game: the score.

Abanhfleft's best chance came in the 15th minute when Chelsea Stuart and Allison Torres combined in a scintillating display of one-touch football only for Stuart to kick the ball straight into the crossbar. The crossbar would continue to frustrate both teams throughout the night.

On days and off days
Just a month ago, Abanhfleft's offense was firing on all cylinders as they placed three goals past Banija in the opening round of the World Cup 76 qualifiers, but tonight, the offense looked like a shadow of the side that beat the Lions at the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium.

Carlos Deferme and Sven Wittouck were solid at Veldgouwen's back tonight, frustrating every attempt by the Lady Revolutionaries to get through on goal by winning the aerial duels and putting in vital tackles.

But Abanhfleft were also at fault for being so wasteful with the chances that they did get in front of the Veldgouwer goal; what shots Stuart, Torres, Adelaide Singh, and Lillian Prescott were not sending right for the bar or the posts would fly right up to the stands.

Frustration resurfaces
At the face of such stubborn opposition, Abanhfleft became frustrated and lashed out at their opponents in various ways, earning them a total of five yellow cards, the most cards issued in a game in which Abanhfleft is playing since their last game against Ko-oren in the World Cup 72 qualifiers.

Stuart and Torres were both booked for rash challenges on Veldgouwer players, Lea Choi and Bella Maynard saw yellow after crashing into Gert Stalhof with deliberate intent according to the referee, and Amanda Warren tripped Piet Masschelin just outside the box to give Veldgouwen a free kick from which they nearly scored.

Abanhfleft women's team manager Holly Jonasson: "When the opponent plays the way that Veldgouwen did, it's almost impossible to play the way that we want. Packing the box with bodies is a good strategy for the league but not in international football. Both sides are deprived of opportunity to score and qualify as they deserve. Everyone gets disappointed in the end.

"We also have to work on keeping our tempers. When things are not going our way, the solution is not to lash out on our opponents. It only creates unnecessary bookings for all of us that could cause problems in the long run. But we must also train in ways to beat teams playing this style. That is how we're going to qualify out of this group."

Abanhfleft are second in Qualifying Group 3, tied with Veldgouwen on points but below on goal difference. Abanhfleft will face Taeshan at the Aeroflot Stadium in Rosenpfelblatz, Markovsky, Abanhfleft next.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Speech to the People

"Good afternoon, ladies, gentlemen, and slaves. I speak to you today with great news. The Foot Slaves have defeated the heathens from Eastfield Lodge by a score of 1-0. Enemy Crusher Fatty Footy headed in a corner kick in the 66th minute and the whole team then proceeded to burn flags of Eastfield Lodge to celebrate. Meanwhile, in the stands, our fans were the glorious awesome people they always are and threw prune juice and gruel on the Eastifeld Lodge fans. It was awesome. They will all get medals and millions of greggygodbucks for it. They will be treated as heroes. Good for them.

"But now, I must talk about other, more significant matters. It is looking likely, not certain, but likely, that we will be nuking Xylocarpstan within the next 24 hours, nuking this forbidden fruit xylocarps into oblivion. They will be smashed, they will be vaporized, and there will be a huge gaping hole where Xylocarpstan formerly was. Those fruits will be eliminated, obliterated, and destroyed. We will celebrate, rejoice and dance. The world will take notice as we nuke yet another country into oblivion, as we did to Associated Godlands, Asuraia, Hicana, and Vjaalsburg. Xylocarpstan will therefore become the fifth nation we will nuke into oblivion, and the sixth nation we will nuke. We nuked our enemy San Jose Guayabal a few times, but sadly, we did not destroy them. Someday we will. And I suppose we nuked Saintland as well in the EMP attack, but we were helping them fight the invading cBots, not attacking them, so that doesn't count.

"But yes, we will nuke the Xylocarps into oblivion, and not even nosy old Eura can stop us. They are too busy fighting Sameba, those heroes they are. And again, to Sameba, I reiterate my offer - anything you need to defeat dumb old Eura, we will give you. Do not hesitate to ask me for nukes, human blitzkrieg, or anything else you need. And together, we can work to destroy the Euran menace. They will be destroyed, and may very well become the sixth nation we nuke into oblivion, should Sameba ask us to. Yes, that would be awesome. Just say the word, Sameba, and it will be done. Oh yes, it will. And it will be so awesome. I am awesome, Eura is not awesome. Sameba is awesome, Eura is not awesome. I am God, Eura is not God. And neither is Jesus or Dumpy.

"But back on topic, it is looking increasing likely, increasingly likely indeed, that Xylocarpstan will be nuked into oblivion within 24 short hours. I will not announce the time yet, but when it happens, you will know. You will know because the telescreens that are in every room in all your homes, even the bathrooms, and are in every public area and every room of every public building, will turn on and broadcast the glorious news. And naturally it will air on conventional television as well, if you happen to be watching that at the time. Yes, this will be such an incredibly awesome moment, I can hardly contain my excitement! We will nuke the fruits, we will kill the fruits, and we shall prevail! Death to the fruits! Death to the fruits! Death to Eura! Death to Eura! Death to Dumpy! Death to Dumpy! Death to Dumbokuni! Death to Dumbokuni! You will all be nuked into oblivion someday, but we will start with the fruits. And it will start, tonight! Probably! But you'll just have to wait and see! I am so excited right now! Let's nuke them all! Let's nuke them all! Let's nuke every nation on the Enemy List! And someday, they will all be nuked! But one at a time folks, one at a time! WOOHOO! I AM SO EXCITED! YEAH, BABY! Are you ready, folks? I said, are you ready? It's time to nuke Xylocarpstan! Well, almost time. Just sit back and wait, and the moment will soon arrive. Oh yes, it will. Just you wait and see. Fruits, prepare to meet your deaths! Eura, you will be next probably! But first, the fruits! It's time for them to die! Well, almost time! Get ready, just wait, and you will soon see the Awesome Power of the Lord! Surrender now or prepare to fight! But you can't fight a nuke, so you will die anyway! I am the Lord your God! You know that, now accept me as Lord or prepare to die! It's too late for the fruits, but perhaps Eura will accept me as Lord and Master and obey my commands, and then we will not nuke them! I doubt it, but it's possible, I suppose. Die, die, die! Dumbokuni, Eura, fruits! You're all going to be gone someday, but we'll start with the fruits! Xylocarps, you will soon die! Very soon!

"Good bye for now, but see you soon for the nuke attack!"

From the ‘Sports’ section of ‘The Bear Necessities’; by Bark Brent (1):

Player Profiles: #1

Marra O TrustyHand

Clan = Sun
Home team = Sun Valley Smashers
Position = Goalkeeper
Experience = nine years
Age = twenty-five years (Year of birth = 4’317)
ForePawedness: left-pawed
Fur: dark blonde
Height: 6’7”

Marra was born at the stronghold of Lantern Keep (2), where her mother Larra O TrustyHand was the Head Engineer and her father Dorran LightChild was commanding officer of the Solar Guard (3) detachment assigned to help protect that fortress. She spent her first eight-plus-one years of childhood there, but then an upsurge in the level of ‘Chaos’ incursions locally persuaded her parents to send her — along with most of the garrison’s other youngsters — back west to ‘Westwards, Heigh!’ boarding school in Sun Valley (4) instead.

On the day before their planned departure, Marra and some classmates were playing football just a short distance outside of the stronghold’s defences when they were attacked by a mob of about a dozen Woozles (5): Marra, who had been playing in goal for the Sun Clan members’ team, uprooted one of the fence-posts that they had been using as goal-posts and used this as a cudgel with which she personally slew two of the attackers while her friends inflicted a further three fatalities in fighting off the remainder. None of the young Bears were killed in this struggle, although several were seriously injured: Marra herself was badly bitten, and the loss of blood from those wounds, which weakened her badly enough that when one of those bites turned out to have had delayed venomous effects she was bedridden for almost three months… and since then, although relatively strong for her size, she apparently have been unable to summon up the superlative level of strength which she displayed in that fight.

It was when playing for the highly successful school team at ‘Westwards, Heigh!’ that Marra came to the attention of the Smashers’ management. They offered her a place in the Smasher’s junior team the ‘Sun Valley Sunbeams’, on a part-time basis so that she could continue with her studies (which were aimed at an eventual degree in Engineering), and she promptly accepted this opportunity, starting on her dual career at an age of just under twoEights’ years. Continued demonstrations of goalkeeping prowess on her part led to a transfer into the Smashers themselves two years later, and she has played an important role — initially as a substitute goalkeeper, but during the last two years as the team’s first-choice goalie — in the team’s incredible successfulness during this period. Although relatively tall for an O TrustyHand she is barely of average height for a sheBear by the standards of her clan as a whole, but this does not hinder her ability to reach high shots and when she gets a hand close to the ball she certainly lives up to her bloodline’s name!

Marra is single and cub-less, and says that she considers herself currently much too busy to seriously consider finding a mate. She continues her Engineering studies on a part-time basis, and her other interests include chess, singlestick-fencing, jitterbugging, and old Human-made ‘film noir’ movies. Her favourite dinner is roast goose with all of the usual trimmings.

Oisinistan News

Oisinistan fall to defeat against hard-working Port Christopher

Oisinistan's undefeated haul of one game came to an end yesterday, as a very strong Port Christopher side humbled them to a 2-1 victory in Group 4. Port Christopher could and should have scored more, but some excellent acrobatic saves from Kane Morton stopped many of these.

This Port Christopher side were without the suspended Tomas Nazario-Silva, along with Elisa Rivera, Acacia García, and Chris Abaroa, all of whom having walked out after a heated exchange following their opening day defeat to Nuevo Caracas, but managed very well in this game.

Oisinistan made 3 changes to their squad, with Dennis Cook, Khalifa Cisse and Moki Smith making way for Inaki Sheridan, Liam Spithe and Seb Lewis.

The game got off to an excellent start for Oisinistan, because when Bryan Oliver was brought down by Robert Wessel near the penalty box, Inaki Sheridan stepped up to score a confident penalty in the 37th minute, as Oisinistan went into half time with a 1-0 lead.

However, the second half got off to a terrible start for Oisinistan, as Rachel Del Arro smashed one home in the 54th minute for this Port Christopher side.

Oisinistan nearly gifted Port Christopher another goal on 72 minutes, with Jake Innes nearly sending the ball into his own net during a corner, but Adam Spearing pulled off a fantastic block to stop this.

Oisinistan's luck went from bad to very bad in the 83rd minute, as Diego Bandos's cross met the head of Rachel Del Arro, sending the ball into the net as the Port Christopher fans went crazy.

So, after this disappointing defeat, we face Nuevo Caracas, who are in Pot 4. Oisinistani fans are hoping for a win, despite the pot disadvantage, and the fact that this triumphant Port Christopher side had been defeated 2-1 by Nuevo Caracas in the opening game.

Goals:
Oisinistan: Sheridan (37)
Port Christopher: Rachel Del Arro (54, 83)

Yellow Cards:
Oisinistan: Sallins
Port Christopher: Goncalves

Red Cards:

Lineups:
Oisinistan: Morton, Yussuf, Spearing (C), Innes (Jefferson 84), Sallins, Lewis, Cook (Wiltry 86), Sheridan, Pollock, Oliver, Spithe
Port Christopher: Laxium, Anderiz (Marshall 74), Goncalves, Wessel, Dixon, Bandos, Maitfield, Del Arro, Bronte (McAdam 84), Icacic, Uist

Postby Northern Sunrise Islands » Tue Oct 04, 2016 10:38 am

I finally arrived back home.
Another long day at the office, my eyes deep on numbers were now finally free.
I had struggled to stay awake after my family's interruption the night before.
That and Kitsunia giving him a lot of flak about me not forgiving them.
Even if I have a pretty valid reason.
Maybe she's just like that.
Forgiving.
Either that or she loved the whole bit of cheering me up.
So, at last, I figured I'd get some rest and I'm this close to my place.
Just need to twist the door's handle and-
"Sunrise!"
Oh, for Arceus' sake.
"I challenge you!"
Sunrise turned back, finding Dainer at a battle stance.
"..."
"..."
"I just arrived from work."
"I don't care! You bested me once, but you won't be able to repeat it!"
"...Are you bitter from losing to me on a Pokémon battle? I'm pretty good at that, y'know."
"No!"
"Then I got no clue of what you're up and all about."
"High School! Martial Arts class!"
"..."
"Did you forget!? How dare you to forget!?"
"Yeah, I have no recollection of it."
"You imbecile!"
"Whatever, man. I'll go take a bath."
Sunrise just entered his apartment and closed the door.
"Come back! I'm not done with you!"
He looked around, finding Kitsunia watching TV with Qasden on her lap. The two stared back.
"I guess you met Dainer, huh?"
"Yeah. Hi, by the way."
The two waved.
"So, what are you planning to do about him?"
"If I could remember what happened for him to get this pissed. Did Chrom call or something?"
"Just a letter. But I think you're trying to dodge the major situation."
"I fail to see where knowing what our resident weirdo isn't a major situation."
"And I fail to see where bringing that up isn't trying to hide from the fact you've got a big, strong guy out there looking for payback."
"I agree, mommy!"
"I love this girl."
"I'm neutral about her. I mean, she knows you're not her-"
"Stop trying to hide from your troubles! Surely you remember that fatidical day!"
"I remember attending Martial Arts class but I don't recall doing anything major on it."
"...You don't remember at all?"
"Yup."
"Well..."

----

"I still can't believe you signed up for Martial Arts, cousin Sunrise."
"I DIDN'T!"
"Oh, but it will be good for you, cousin..."
"Yeah! So when someone tries to steal our farm's chickens you can go and-"
"Yeah, not at all. I'm gonna talk with the teacher and request my exclusion from that class. I'm not an idiot."
"C'mon, cousin! You can't just quit..."
"Nah. I'm not an idiot."
Cousin rushed in the room, trying to discuss with the teacher.
Man, what a coward!
...
Kitsunia and Matthewsiania stared at the silent kid, standing on a karate stance.
"Uh... who's that?"
"That's Dainer, the weird kid from up the road."
"This makes no sense!"
Sunrise walked back to the two, sad.
"He said the only way I'm off the hook is if I beat his best student. What gives?"
"I'm guessing it's that guy."
He stared at the boy, who quickly faced him back.
Sunrise hesitantly walked on the padded floor.

"Oh, dear..."
"L-look... I-I just want to leave this class."
"I must defeat you."
"...Oh, dear Arceus."
Dainer tried to deliver a strong overhead kick, but somehow, Sunrise got hold of it.
What followed was... well.

"...Yikes."
Sunrise looked around, shrugging with a feet over the knocked down Dainer.
"...Am I free now?"

----

"Oh, wow."
"So... yeah."
"That kind of explains. But shouldn't he just go and get a life instead of following me around?"
"I think he never recovered from it."
"Well, then he can forget about it."

----

Finally a good night of rest.
Well, have to work.
The two were on their way out.
Sunrise opened the door only to find a sleeping Dainer by the door.

"..."
"Told you."
"I think I have an idea."

----

The sea wind blasted the upper deck.
There, a body bag shook itself open.
Dainer had finally awoke.
"...Where am I?"
"Well, 'ello, mate! Are you ready to scrub da floors?"
"Answer my question, woman!"
"CAPTAIN WESTERN SUNRISE! You're on my Frigideira and you got two options!"
"...Which are?"
"You either do your part on helping this ship or you're off to the sharks."
Dainer stared around.
The sea.
"...I hate you."
Western Sunrise took out a frying pan from nowhere, pointing it to him.
"Say it again and you're drowning with a frying pan to the head as well."

A St. Futurnian native, DAINER is a rather impressive martial artist. But in a world where Pokémon battling is the major happenings, he's not taken rather seriously. Harbors some sort of major rivalry with SUNRISE, but that feeling isn't exactly responded in any way.

Arkan rolls through Nouvel Acadie via a 2 to 1 score

A debut to remember for two time APSL Golden Boot winner Trafik Okolot, and a day to remember for the rest of the team, as the 1723's outplayed Nouvel Acadie to a final score of 2 to 1. After an early 22 minute goal slipped by Yelltin Abramov, the young Arkan City wonderkid struck gold on the top right corner in the 32 minute of play. The next goal would happen thirty-six minutes later, as Scarel Amtivo struck his first goal of the tournament onto the bottom left side of the net.

Three debuts happened this game. Trafik Okolot, Gariz Asmi, and Ilya Matast all three made their national team debut today, all three playing the entire game. Two players, Hanzea Maraznt and Arik Malaro have yet to debut, but it is guessed that Maraznt could potentially start next game against Vilita.

Rain.
The rain fell hard on Mardi that day.
Jean Marcus had been pondering heavily on his steps.
Of all people he could recall having in back during the Afternight Club days, he was the one doing the best.
Rich.
Great face as far as the public view thought of him.
He could write a book on his entire life, possibly make somewhat of an influx out of it.
But life was just too mundane.
And somehow, in all of this.
He didn't felt like there was any sort of legacy.
Jean's sister Sun was living her own, peaceful life leading a gym.
The Afternight Club had been sold to a playboy of Sarian descent who seemingly just want to keep the club alive.
His old beverage-scepter was stolen after a hard night out by some chick from out of town.
He could've gotten it back, but he didn't feel like it.

Needless to say, the city government's installations were starting to get to him.
Bland. Opaque. Boring.
Normally, by this point, he'd have whisked off to one of his parties.
And surely enough would be undertaking some questionable events with a party of hookers.
Instead, with the heavy rain, Jean was now waiting for four in the afternoon to arrive.
That was the time he'd be off.
Off to do anything.
Anything wouldn't come.
Anything wouldn't arrive.

Nobody left the Grand Office of City Renewal that afternoon.
Instead, the police arrived at about four-twenty.
No signs of anyone forcing the glass doors of the building.
No signs of the security that would normally keep that place as it was.
No signs of the trusty secretary Jean hired.
A beaut from Lynder, eyes of a shining lake, hair of a bright sun.
No signs of Jean Marcus, Quebécoise businessman.
What was inside, however, was much more clear.
Wrecked objects and black goo.

CHAPTER XXIII - RAIN

The clock rung.
1:00 PM.
Jean had finished eating his special cookies.
He'd rather have had lunch at that point, but the rain was just too much.
He had to make do.
Projects had literally flown ever since the announcement.
The City Renewal Project was Mardi's latest attempt at getting the world to see how things were back to the Northern Sunrise of yore.
Mardi, one of the biggest cities of Esportiva, had been on a downturn for a while following the Tarusev incident.
Jean Marcus didn't like it one bit.
While sure, he was born at Kingston, far away from Mardi; he considered himself a Mardinian by heart.
And nobody would call his hometown a bad place.

1:03 PM.
Serenity, Jean's secretary knocked in.
An ex-Miss Lynder, Jean Marcus didn't exactly hire her for the massive group of skills the girl had.
But rather her amazing looks.
If anything, it didn't help she seemed to be fine with the idea.
She pointed it out with giant, red letters on her resume after all.
Five projects had arrived.
But he did admit to Serenity he was bored.
She stated that the rain simply wouldn't pass away anytime soon.
But there were some magazines nearby, she could fetch them for her.

1:15 PM.
Jean is alone.
Serenity had left for at least ten minutes now.
Already somewhat of a mindful for a couple of mags.
Someone probably had been reading those already.
Jean had to be patient.
Or at least that's what he assumed.
For a second, he thought he heard a shot.
Probably just some kid playing a videogame on the other building.
That happens when your office is near an hotel.
Specially one that Jean frequented often.

1:25 PM.
He could hear noises.
A male, young voice.
A loud thump.
Alas, he couldn't figure out what was really going on.
Another voice yelling.
Seemed like "get away".
That didn't sound like Serenity.
Jean figured he'd stay at his room.
For safety.

1:31 PM.
A loud squeel could be heard.
There was no mistake.
That was Serenity's voice.
Jean couldn't tell what happened.
But he was aware that something terrible occurred.
He quickly hid under his desk.
Hopefully, it was just some bandit looking for cash.
They'd probably just check the building's safe, on the other side of the hallway and leave.
Jean could only hope.

2:46 PM.
He was sure he was hiding for at least an hour now.
But his hopes ended up far from true.
Whoever was there decided to make an enter on his office.
He couldn't see the figure on its' entirety, but he did manage to see his legs and feet.
Seemingly pale, covered on a black pair of pants. He could see some sort of cloak behind him and the point of what seemed like a staff.
A lot of black goo was near him for some reason.
He also noticed a body being dragged.
The silhouette, covered by the same black goo near the figure seemed very much like Serenity.

3:10 PM.
Jean looked around, at least as far as he could.
The figure had left his room.
Jean had managed to survive the attack unharmed?
Well, he had to get some composure.
Sure, he'd manage to flee but some safety measures had to be installed on the building as soon as he got to the police.
He'd also have to send a box of chocolates or something to ease the pain of Serenity's family.
Shame, he planned to invite her over for a very casual dinner.
Alas, these things happen, he thought.

3:12 PM.
The cloaked figure had a smile on his face.
His scythe had managed to slice the main target of that afternoon.
Jean tried to make a run out of the room, but for the figure's luck, he stumbled against the latest Nightling, one he formed out of the shot down warden he met when he first entered the building via the vents.
The Quebécoise failed to get past the wooden braces, falling head first.
It'd be a catastrophe.
Thankfully, he managed to slice his neck at the right moment.
He was happy.
Granted, it'd be a pain to stitch him back up, but his boss would probably have to do the same with the secretary anyways.
His boss would probably be even more happy that he managed to pull the job before they even managed to call the police.
Now it was time to go.

5:00 PM.
The Neon Genesis Brigade of the Special Forces had finally arrived.
With them, arrived a pair of odd-looking men, both having each a glowing arm.
Somehow, the one with the green arm managed to push off most of the goo but just getting his glowing limb closer to the element, causing it to fade off in smokes.
They managed to identify some of the blood marks and a couple of bits of people that worked there.
No info on Jean Marcus.
He'd be forever remembered by a group of at least twenty girlfriends of sort, his even many more friends, his sister Sun and whoever went to his clubs and parties, now to be sold to foreign investors.
The team left with records of the intact cameras, hoping to find out whatever happened.
See you later, Jean.
This is Matthewsiania, Northern Sunrise Islands strange flag-colored puppet.

Growing Up a Rebel (Part Six)

Apple wasn't awake long before she drifted back into sleep again, where she would remain. The doctor put her waking up again down to the increased amount of drugs in her system, that boosted her system a bit and gave her a few minutes, in which the final goodbyes were said. As soon as Apple had shut her eyes for the last time, Beef cried out in agony. It's always painful to lose someone you love, especially someone so close to you that you have been with for so much of your life. Apple was the one for Beef, and always had been, and to lose that heartfelt connection with someone because they die can ruin some people's lives.

What Beef felt wasn't pain and agony in so much as that he wanted to spend the rest of his life wallowing away in his house, never to see the light of day again, or to hang himself with rope on the wooden beams in his house. He felt pain alright at his lost - he felt like he was falling apart, but he was also overflowing with anger. Anger at the cruelty of the world. Anger at the people who did this to his wife. Angry at the government for enslaving them. Wanting to do something about it.

''Beef, please calm down. We need calm for the operation.'' Mr. Ham said, trying to relax Beef who had become visibly stressed and worked up, trying to coax him into a chair where he could sit and wait for the operation to finish. ''This is time-sensitive, and risky. We don't have long.'' Beef gave in to the doctor's commands, sitting himself down in the chair and waiting patiently, tears falling into his lap, his hands rubbing his eyes.

Across the other side of the room, the nurse had prepared all the equipment ready for the c-section. The monitors were showing the baby alive inside, just clinging on, sucking the last life out of its mother. It seemed to be healthy from the monitors, but they weren't sure how long it would stay that way, especially with the baby having effectively sat in a dying human incubator for 9 months as it developed. Mr. Ham rushed over, and began preparing, taking every possible hygienic precaution possible in this squalid, damp part of the hospital, which sat unused for many weeks. However, his preparations were cut short by the heart rate monitor, which started warning of the heart rate dying down. It wasn't near flat lining yet, but too much longer and it would be, and if the baby wasn't out within about a minute of it's mother flat-lining, the baby would probably be dead.

The light flickering above him. The room dimly lit. Squalid, damp walls and floors, with rats scurrying around by the feet of the doctor. Not the ideal place to complete a C-section to remove the baby from a dying woman, but there was no choice in the matter. Mr. Ham, assisted by the oh so loyal nurse, who helped him out even though it was breaking regulations and laws of The Pie Republic, began the operation to remove the baby.

Image

The pie heart had stopped working. Flat-lined. No more filling was being pumped around the body of the pie, through the pastry arterioles and pastry venules. The pastry around the pie body was being starved of filling that it needed to survive. Without filling for a minute and a half to a part of a body, that part of the body effectively dies. After 2 minutes, the pie brain, without a supply of filling, dies, and then the pie is dead.

As soon as Mr. Ham heard that distinct sound of the heart flat-lining, he knew that time was running out. They had two minutes to get this baby out of Apple. Almost practically impossible. Never had it been necessary for c-section to be done so quickly, but today was the day that changed that. Never had a doctor worked so quickly to remove a baby. If you were to watch Mr. Ham at work, you could have seen his pastry fingers rushing around, effectively ripping open Apple to get to the womb, where the baby was clinging on to life, with not much left in the mother left to take. Until the baby was separated from the mother, it was dependent on the mother, so when the mother dies, the baby would die too, which is what made this co time-sensitive.

Mr. Ham had stopped caring about the condition of Apple's body. He had to rip it open to do this in time, He was an expert at doing this kind of operation, so he did know where not to rip and cut, but the rest of the body was fair game.

With about 10 seconds before the brain in the mother died roughly, Mr. Ham was able to extract the baby from the stomach, to the relief of both himself and the nurse. ''Shit where are the scissors.'' Mr. Ham shouted, knowing they had yet to fully separate the mother and the baby, who were connected by a thin strip of pastry, which was what allowed the baby to stay alive in the womb. The nurse began to scramble through the items on the desk, but with no avail. ''They're here'' Beef shouted, before throwing them over - a risky move, but a necessary one in this situation. Luckily, Mr. Ham managed to grab the scissors and cut the pastry strip through the middle, with only about 2 seconds to spare until imminent death for the baby.

Beef walked over to the nurse and the doctor, who were holding the baby, which was crying in their arms. ''Here you go.'' Mr. Ham passed the baby pie over to Beef, who took it, arms outstretched wide to hold the baby, tears rolling down his cheeks in joy and sadness mixed. ''Thank you.'' he choked through tears. He just stood there and held him, in a separate world for just a moment.

There was a sudden loud metal creak. ''Shit.'' Mr. Ham cursed under his breath. ''I thought this place never got used anymore Tarta de Santiago.'' he whispered at the nurse. That caught Beef's attention. Something about that name. A man. A man wanting him to take her to the dark alleyway at the back of the hospital.

''Tarta, Beef, take the baby and head out the back door quietly, keeping low to the ground as to not get seen.'' Mr Ham. whispered quietly, as he saw a figures beginning to appear. They had been found, but the two of them had time to escape. ''Go.'' Beef and Tarta rushed off to the back door, slipping out into a large, barely lit corridor off the back of that room.

Meanwhile, back in the room where the surgery had taken place, and where Apple remained lying on the makeshift operation bed, with the machines either side of her, the insides of her body ripped apart to get the baby out, Mr. Ham cowered in the corner, trying to keep out of sight. There wasn't really anywhere to hide though in the room, which was unused, empty of almost anything, apart from the things he had smuggled in himself.

''Well, well, well.'' a pie wearing all black cackled, as he walked into a dim light beam, revealing the hideous smile plastered across his face. ''Hello Mr. Ham. I know everything about you.'' Mr. Ham remained silent, hoping that he hadn't been spotted, but he knew it was game over when a large, burly pie pulled him by the case from behind the bed. The pie who had just been talking spat on him. ''Scum.''

''I am not....'' Mr. Ham tried to retort, before being hit around the face, a large red mark left where he had been hit. ''SHUT UP. I DO THE TALKING HERE.'' the pie wearing black shouted. ''We had suspicions of you for a long time...'' he continued. ''But you hid well. Luckily, your 'friends' which helped you to smuggle these instruments in here to save the baby's life, as a symbol for your movement, as a hope, were not so silent when pressed...'' he made a gun-like symbol with his hands and put it to his own head. ''with death.''

A whimper erupted from Mr. Ham. ''Scared?'' the pie dressed in black cackled. ''You should be...'' Mr. Ham tried to put on a brave face, and looked at the pie dressed in black in the face. ''You'll never find them.'' he bravely claimed, although with hindsight, he would have realised this was a terrible mistake. The intruding pies didn't know about any others, and didn't think that the operation to save the baby had been successful, so this was new information to them. ''Thank you.'' the pie dressed in black laughed even louder, signalling for 4 men to head out the back door, which was the only escape they could have taken. ''They can't get far.''

''They're long gone.'' Mr. Ham said, his voice shaking. He spat in the pie's face. ''That was a big mistake. Do it.'' he said to the burly pie, who smashed Mr. Ham against the wall, filling spilling out from the side of his pie head, where a large gash about 5 centimetres deep had formed. He then proceeded to continue to stamp on Mr. Ham, who had filling squirting out from a load of cuts which had formed in his pastry, his body slowly and slowly getting more and more compact as he was crushed further and further, screaming out in pain. The pie in black stopped the large pie. ''We need him alive.'' he whispered to the burly pie, who proceeded to back off.

For Beef and Tarta, they thought they were safe, and had slowed down after an initial panic. However, as soon as they heard voices again, they ran, finding the nearest ventilation shaft which they could climb out of to take them to the back alleyway, their best route of escape (of which no route was good for their escape). Tarta hopped in. ''Take the baby.'' Beef said to her. I'll lead them off while you escape.''

A few tears fell from Tarta's eye. ''What's going to happen to you?'' she asked. ''I don't know. I'll find a way to get out.'' Tarta kissed Beef on the cheek, before climbing into the ventilation shaft, which was sealed with the grille immediately after her and the baby had got in. ''I'll see you soon'' Beef whispered through the metal grille, before taking off down the corridor, making sure that he got noticed by the pies, who were also dressed in black, so that they chased him, rather than looked for Tarta.

Tarta made her way through the ventilation shaft, the baby in her hand, feeling her way through the darkness. She had no idea where she was going through the shafts, but she knew her way around the hospital, including the dark, abandoned bits, from her adventures to get away from life. It was this knowledge, as well as her previous studying of hospital maps in case a scenario like this did occur, that helped her to escape. She emerged from a ventilation shaft into a large, dark room, which had a few crates in them. It appeared to be some kind of abandoned warehouse, which had been left and had fallen into disrepair. She knew the escape from here. Across the warehouse floor, a door on the left, two flights of stairs down, and then 100 metres on a corridor to the right, into the hall, and to the left of her, ten metres away from her, would be the door.

But as she started running across the warehouse floor, she heard shouting. Voices. They were near here. It was game over. She surely couldn't escape from the large warehouse, where the pies in black had every exit, every escape route that they knew about covered. That was when she got pulled behind a crate. A pie, one that she recognised. ''Hello Tarta.'' he said. A smug, almost evil playful grin played across his face.

Tarta sighed. ''Hello Steak...''

TAKE OUT - SPONSORED BY PUKKA PIES (Newspaper Edition)

What hopes do the pies have?

Match Day 1/8 - Dainer
The Great Pi had a successful start to their first World Cup Qualification, managing to pull off a surprise draw against a weak Dainer team. Dainer, who are ranked 82nd, over hundred places higher than The Great Pi in 187th, were expected to walk the match and succeed in an easy win against the pies. However, the pies were valiant, and were not willing to go away from the match without at least a point. Not a single goal was scored by either side - testament to the defence of both teams - and the pies will definitely be happier with that result than Dainer will, who would have hoped to start their World Cup Qualifying off in style. The fact this was an away game also instills hope in the return fixture, when Dainer visit The Great Pi-Lands, as it is commonly known that playing at home means you have the crowds behind you, and therefore have some advantage over the opposing team.
Prediction: 4 points for The Great Pi, drawing the first match away and winning the second match at home.

Match Day 2/9 - Bye Days

Match Day 3/10 - The Sarian
Hopes are high for some form of result against The Sarian, who are the third seed in the group which contains the world's highest ranked team. The Great Pi will face them on Match Day 3, at home, bringing even more importance to this match, as whatever is achieved at home will be more difficult to achieve away when the team visit The Sarian. Playing against the 60th ranked team is expected to be no easy feat though, and the team, and the home crowd, know that it's going to be a tough game for the pies on the pitch, at home and even more so away. The pies will be trying to gun for a draw against The Sarian when they play, more so at home than away, which they realise a result at will be even more difficult, but the team know that to push up the standings a bit and play a little higher than they should be, this is one of the teams that they do need to be trying to beat. The team know they can at least draw with other teams at this level, as they showed in a friendly against Ethane in the build up to the World Cup, and will be hoping to at least replicate that result when they face The Sarian at home.
Prediction: 1 point for The Great Pi, drawing the first match at home and losing the second match away.

Match Day 4/11 - Unified Sunrise Islands
When it comes to this game, the team are just going to go out and play football, and just ignore the scoreline. When you get drawn in a group with the top ranked team in the world, you know times are going to be tough for you when you face them, even more so away, and that is just what The Great Pi does on match day 4. Expectations are off for this match, as the predictions all point to a large margin loss in both games. This is one set of games which the pies know they aren't going to really be expected to pick up and points in, but this won't stop the players trying their best to get something out of the games, even if it is just experience for the future.
Prediction: 0 points for The Great Pi, losses both home and away.

Match Day 5/12 - San Llera
San Llera are the second seeded team in this group, ranked 25 in the world standings. They are going to be a relatively difficult team for the pies to play against, with their team at a much higher skill level than that of the pies. The Great Pi will be looking to try to pick up some points when they face them at home on the 5th match day of the qualifiers for The Great Pi, but even this is going to prove to be a difficult feat for a team which has only before competed in the Baptism of Fire, where they were knocked out by Tomikosan in the Round of 16. Predictions are all also pointing to a disappointing outcome for the pies, but then a win or even a draw in these games is a far stretch. However, if the pies do push hard enough, they may be able to pull off an upset draw or even win against San Llera.
Prediction: 0 points for The Great Pi, losses both home and away.

Match Day 6/13 - Cheongji
One of the closer teams to The Great Pi in the ranks, only about 40 places behind, which at the depth in the ranks both these teams are, is not that much of a margin, the games are expected to be close for the pies. However, the team will be hopeful that when they play them away on the 6th match day of this qualification campaign, they can get a result, either a draw or a win, which will then instill hope that they can do better when they face them at home on match day 13 of the campaign. The games are expected to be tightly thought, but the pies are confident they can secure the result they want and need to get anywhere apart from the bottom few in this group.
Prediction: 4 points for The Great Pi, a draw away and a win at home.

Match Day 7/14 - The Licentian Isles
This game is one that The Great Pi will be hoping they can win. The Licentian Isles are an unranked team, and are therefore not as good a team as The Great Pi. While there could be an upset on the cards, the team will be hoping they could avert a scenario such as this with strong performances both home and away in the matches against the Licentian team. The team know the games against the Licentians are ones that they should win, and so will be pushing for their best performance to get the result they want and need. Predictions are also optimistic for The Great Pi.
Prediction: 6 points for The Great Pi, wins both home and away.

World Cup MD2: Mercedini vs. 95X LIVE
@ Zoloroni Sports City Stadium - Zoloroni, Mercedini

Matchday 2 of the World Cup Qualification stage has arrived which means the first chance for Mercedini to set out their stall for a place in Electrum & Ceni. Plenty of spectacle today as all of the TV channels have been reporting on the action for today's match with a capacity crowd expected in the Zoloroni Sports City Stadium for Mercedini's opening match in Group 16. Today, Mercedini welcome the dork horses of the group, 95X. They reached the knockout stages of the Baptism of Fire in this cycle so plenty of pundits have fancied their team to spring a couple of surprises in the group, let's hope Mercedini won't experience one of those today.
An extremely high turnout for both sets of fans have occurred in the stadium today, with the Mercedinian sections completely jam-packed with waving flags and excited football fans. The 95X portion of the crowd is full of people as well with many of them singing their traditional 95X football chants and taking selfies as they soak up the sun here in the south of Mercedini. The Mercedinian Big Band is back, playing a plethora of Mercedinian and 95X songs to accommodate their guests here today, let's hope for a good match. The teams appear out of the tunnel to a deafening fanfare from both sets of fans. The stage is set for Mercedini to kick of their qualifying campaign here in = front of their home crowd. The World Cup Live is starting right now!

0' - Both sets of fans are ready for this encounter with the Mercedinian fand waving their flags and singing their hearts out. The 95X fans in their black and kits trying to frown out the Mercedinian fans with ther own football chants. 95X will be kicking off this first half in their signature black and yellow kits, mimicking their flag. While Mercedini are waiting patiently in their blue and black kits. It almost looks like a clash, but the referee has allowed play to continue and we're now set for the match to begin. Mercedini looking to start their campaign off with the best start possible, while 95X are hoping to register their first points after they narrowly lost out to top seed Barunia 1-0. Here we go!

6' - (MRC 0-0 95X) - A very quick start for Mercedini as they are trying to kill this game off early. An interesting tactic by David Bjarnasson, not wanting to wait for an error in the 95X defence so they are trying forge their own opportunities. It will be intriguing to see how this plays out. Mercedini are on top but it remains goalless just after the 5 minute mark.

12' - (MRC 0-0 95X) - GOAL!!! Mercedini have lift off for their qualification campaign and it's come from who else but Sgt. Sam Billic. Mercedini's star man conjures up a fantastic chance for himself. Streaking past two 95Xers before slotting the ball between the goalkeeper's legs to open up the scoring. It's a cheap goal to concede for 95X, something that we didn't see in their last match. The Sports City Stadium goes crazy as Billic embraces his teammates. After 12 minutes, it's 1-0.

18' - (MRC 1-0 95X) - Mercedini have been in complete control of this match for the opening 18 minutes. 95X have had hardly had any time on the ball thus far, and none in the Mercedinian half. The Mercedinian crowd are enjoying their day out so far, but it's early doors in this match and a lot can happen. Still 1-0 to Mercedini.

23' - (MRC 1-0 95X) - Mercedini coming forward with the ball, Jackic in possession as he crosses the half-way line. Players to his right and left but he plays a brilliant ball down the middle to Chillotov and he is through!! Ben Chillotov for Mercedini with a chance to make it 2-0!! And he's taken it! GOAL!! He has scooped the ball over the head of the approaching goalkeeper and the ball has trickled into the side netting. Chillotov faces the crowd and celebrates, the fans are going absolutely berserk, contrasting the misery on the faces of the 95X fans. Mercedini 2-0 up in the space of 23 minutes. Wow!

31' - (MRC 2-0 95X) - 95X are finally getting into this game for the first time, trying to claw back some dignity over what has been a dismal defensive display in the opening half an hour. Elyssa Scholls coming forward with a chance to attack and halve the defecit. Plays a pass towards Sam Seventyfifth but the ball deflects off Tranev. Columbine gets to the loose ball and lets out a fierce shot and... it's hit the crossbar!!! 95X very nearly finding their first goal of the campaign, but it remains 2-0 as we enter the final 15 minutes of the half.

38' - (MRC 2-0 95X) - Cross comes in from Crasic on the far side.. OH ITS A GOAL!!! Noah Park capitalising on some 95X miscommunication as he heads into the net completely unchallenged. His teammates pile on top of him as Bjarnasson applauds him from the touchline, he will be happy with what he has seen today. Mercedini 3 goals to the good and it isn't even half time! I'm shocked, David Bjarnasson is shocked and I think some of the fans are aswell. 3-0!

44' - (MRC 3-0 95X) - 95X controlling the passing play now, I think theyre trying not to concede another goal before the interval and their passing the ball between the defense and midf...OH, a loose pass from Sarai Thirteenth has sent Billic through with just the goalkeeper to beat! Is this a fourth? Well the goalkeeper has bundled over Billic, is it a penalty?! Of course it is! The referee points to the spot and Billic has the opportunity to get his second and Mercedini's fourth before half-time!

45+1' - (MRC 3-0 95X) - He steps up... and cooly slots the ball into the net, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. He raises his fist in delight and I'm that the game has been won already, I can't see 95X scoring 5 times in the second half but crazier things have happened. We're into stoppage time and Mercedini are 4-0 up.

45+3' - (MRC 4-0 95X) - Jacob Firdale gets the ball back into play after that offside from Chillotov and the referee blows his whistle for the end of the half. A chorus of boos ring out as the 95X fans demonstrate their displeasure at what has been a shocking 45 minutes of football for their team. Mercedini are as happy as a pig in shit. They walk into the tunnel with a four goal advantage over their opponents. The first came from a classic Billic move, then Chillotov scored after a brilliant through ball from Jackic in the midfield. Noah Park then grabbed his first goal for the national team with an easy header from a corner. Finally, Billic got a second via penalty which was earned from a 95X defensive lapse. At the interval it's Mercedini 4, 95X 0.

HALF TIME
Mercedini 4 - 0 95X

Billic 12', 45+1', Chillotov 23', Park 38'

So, the teams are back out for the second half with neither manager opting for a change at half-time. Mercedini will kick off this half in their 4-4-2 formation that has been so useful for them in the past. While 95X try to claw back some dignity after their embarrassing first half which saw them ship 4 goals in 45 minutes, they will also operate in a 4-4-2 formation, but with their midfield in an apparent zig-zag formation across the pitch. Mercedini looking to stop any chance of a 95X fightback, thay have kicked off, much to the delight of the home supporters and we are underway for the second half.

51' - (MRC 4-0 95X) - Mercedini have the ball once again but this time they are playing it very slowly between their players, not giving up ground to their opponents but not send it forward either. 95X look contempt in sitting this match out, I think they know this match is already lost. Still 4-0.

60' - (MRC 4-0 95X) - GOAL!! and it's a cracker for 95X they have got a goal back in this match with most likely the goal of the game. Elyssa Scholls was confronted with two Mercedinian defenders, they managed to swivel themselves around both f them and let out an absolute thunderbolt of a shot from 25-yard out, straight into the top corner of the net. the travelling 95X fans have something to celebrate and even some of the Mercedinians are applauding that amazing goal. I don't think it will affect the result too much though, it's now 4-1!

63' - (MRC 4-1 95X) - After that amazing goal, unfortunately the 95X defence have let themselves down by conceding a fifth, it's Chillotov once again but it's Billic who did much of the legwork, he kept the ball from rolling out for a throw in and managed to outfox the defensive winger, he ran to the by-line where 95X got all in a kerfuffle, Billic simply squared the ball to his striking partner and he rolled the ball into an empty net. Mercedini have scored 5 in their opening match. This is starting to get a bit ridiculous. 5-1!

70' - (MRC 5-1 95X) - Play beginning to slow once again as 95X try to facet an opening in the Mercedinian defence, much like their their first goal. The Fourelevens combining to trouble the Mercedinian defence, but the shot was pushed wide by Hosset and the subsequent corner was easily dealt by the full backs. Both team are playing for pride and their own record now, still 5-1, going into the last 20 minutes.

77' - (MRC 5-1 95X) - The goals are flowing again!!! Mercedini this time with their sixth goal of the game and it's a new face on the score sheet. Crp. Tim Crasic has got his name on their after a quite frankly terrible goal was allowed to stand. Mercedini were on the break after 95X left too many men forward for a corner. Crasic and Billic were the two men forward for Mercedini as they tried to outfox the two 95X defenders who had stayed to defend. Billic let out a long ball for Crasic to chase he got on the end of the ball but hesitated too long as both defender closed in on him. He let out a shot which deflected and hit the post. The ball then fell to Billic but his shot was saved by the keeper before Crasic took a second pop at it, which deflected into the net off the defender. There were calls of offside but the referee was having none of it. It's 6-1 which is bloody nuts.

83' - (MRC 6-1 95X) - The eighth goal of the came has come and frankly I'm fed up of commentating all of these goals. 95X have got their second of the game thanks to Scholls, the goal wasn't as good their first but it was pretty goof nonetheless. The cross came into the box from the far side and was simply headed into the net. Hosset got a hand on the ball but it wasn't enough and the ball ricocheted off the hand of Hosset and into the roof of the net. 95X with their first too goals of their qualification campign, too bad they've conceded sixth while doing so. Seven minutes left, it's 6-2 which is insane.

89' - (MRC 6-2 95X) - Oh my god, another goal to cap off a game where neither fan base would have any voice left after cheering and booing and singing and whatever. It's Pujanic with the goal coming off yet another break for Mercedini. He joined in the fun as he and Billic ran together against the 95X defenders. The finish was much simpler as Pujanic curled it past the goalkeeper into the far side netting of the goal. Pujanic celebrating, the Mercedinians let out a happy sigh when that goal went in, they're probably bored of celebrating for the next couple of years. I cant believe I'm saying this, as we head into stoppage time it's 7-2, mental!

90+2' - (MRC 7-2 95X) - That's it, it's over, it's finally over. Mercedini celebrate as they have emphatically won their opening match against what was supposed to be tough opposition. Too many defensive lapses cost 95X unfortunately, but you cant deny that it was a ruthless performance from the side who finished fifth in their qualification group last time round. Tougher opposition await for Mercedini, but you can only beat whoever is in front of you. They did, here in Zoloroni it's finished Mercedini 7, I repeat, seven. 95X 2. I'm off for a hot chocolate and the re-runs of the Great Mercedinian Bake Off.

FULL TIME
Mercedini 7 - 2 95X

Billic 12', 45+1', Chillotov 23', 63', Park 38', Crasic 77', Pujanic 89' | Scholls 60', 83'

After that 7-2 thumping of 95X, Mercedini now face stiffer opposition as they travel to Pot 2 side Osarius in what will be a very difficult tie for Mercedini. If they can come away with at least a point, then that will be a great achievement as they then know they can hang with the best of 'em. From here in Zoloroni, we bid you good night. If you think you are stoned, you are not, Mercedini did actually score 7 goals in a 9 goal match. Ridiculous, I know. Good night.

Bonjour et Ohayōgozaimasu Kirishima. Welcome ladies and gentleman back to another edition of the Kitsune Report, brought to you by the Nagatomo Sports Network (NSN) and sponsored by Air Pacifica, and Pocari Surge. Here at the Kitsune Report it's all about Kirishinan sports however there comes a time when international football becomes the main focus. It is that time of the year and with matchday 2 of qualifiers out of the way did the Kitsunes stay undefeated? It's time to get grooving to some world cup football yet again and find out!

Hydraic Empire 2-3 Kirishima Review:

Coming of of a 3-0 win against Tumbra in Heiwa, the Kitsunes manage to locate the Hydraic Empire on their G.P.S. Perhaps it was a simple malfunction. Never the less when they arrived their Liason officer spoke little before escorting them to the unknown venue. The situation got more bizarre when the opposition players names were not on their kits. After the Kirishinan national anthem the Hydraic Anthem played to the support of the opposition crowd. The match began slow as the Kitsunes seemed to favor caution against their unknown opponents. In the 27th minute, Ako Izumi scored a goal off of a free kick at the top of the box, which just barely cleared the goalkeeper's fingertips. The Empire would not stay down long before an unknown striker snuck in a goal from seemingly out of nowhere to tie the game at 1 goal a piece during the 35th minute.

The question at the half was whether the Kitsune can adapt to the opposition or would the mystery factor of the opposition be too much to handle. It seemed we got a heartbreaking response when the Hydraic Empire scored again in the 50th minute putting the opposing team up 2-1. It was at this moment that Hojo gave Seong Mi-Soo a sign of some sort. The meaning of said sign was clear as the next dead ball saw former Armeian turned Kirishinan, Ai Takagawa subbed in. Still down 2-1 the 70th minute saw Renée Guidice subbed in for Sayo Matsuoka.

Renée wanting to stand out to the staff in Hyuga made her impact in the 75th minute, after a multitude of passes in the midfield gave Yabuta the ball, who then proceeded to back heel kick the ball to an incoming Guidice who slotted the ball in the bottom right corner. With the game tied 2-2 with 15 minutes remaining, the Hydraic Empire gave their all on the pitch with the mysterious goal scorer trying to achieve a hat trick. Unfortunately for the Empire Takagawa seemed ready for all their tricks. Finally seeing an opportunity after the opposition over attacked, rolled the ball to Miyamoto who punted a though ball to an on-side Joseph Yabuta. Yabuta was too quick for the defense leaving a one on one situation on the field. A spin move and an open net later saw Yabuta put his team up 3-2 in the 83rd minute. The Kitsunes hung on till the whistle, thus achieving their second consecutive win during these qualifiers.

Kitsune manager Seong Mi-Soo had this to say after the match. "This was a difficult team to game plan for as we didn't have much data on them. They played in Kirishima and even then it was tough to see whatever it was that they were doing. During the half, I asked Hojo if she noticed anything about the first goal to which she said she couldn't. Ai stepped up and said she could. I sent Hojo back on the field and if she couldn't think of a counter let me know. She gave the sign and Takagawa got her chance. While on the bench Miyoko and I went over the opposition defense and felt matchup wise it was safe to give Guidice a shot. These are all National Team players so when the times come for them to perform a role, I'll give it to them. We started strong and barely avoided a bizarre draw or defeat during a matchday where other teams got caught. All we can do is try to play our game fundamentally sound so that Kamiya forbid things to go wrong, it won't affect our results."

Kirishima v Kalumba Preview:

Kirishima returns home for their next matchup in Kairaku against Kalumba. Kalumba sits right behind the Kitsunes in group fifteen after a 4-1 drubbing of BOF runner-up Tomikosan and a shocking 1-1 draw with the Grim Reapers of Quebec. The opposition will head into Kairaku with abnormally high momentum and confidence. To be fair anyone would have confidence with their run thus far. The opposition is certainly more offensive minded than us, therefore possession and counter attacking will be important. The fewer chances the opponents have with the ball the less of a barrage Hojo faces. The Balista if executed properly should be useful in keeping up the Kitsune's possession. With this team being offensive minded look to Yabuta to lead the counter pushes with Miyamoto having chances to go coast to coast. Until then Lets Go Kitsunes!

A knock at the door.

"Hello?" Alexio del Nieran got up from his hotel bed where he had been going over notes from the 4-1 victory against Dumoniia. He put his hands behind his back and leaned backwards, stretching out his back as the former star turned manager walked over to the door. He shot a look at the clock, 11:42pm; a late night, especially on the eve of a World Cup qualifier.

“Senoré Alexio, it’s Marco,” a quiet yet upbeat voice responded.

Marco van Ciavatinni. At 17, the biggest Echani talent ever, hyped beyond hyped, the great hope for Eshan football making his debut. At 18, a Seria-A champion and a third-placed medal from the Baptism of Fire. At 19, he defended his title and solidified his position as one of the best Echani players alive. At 20, he made it three in a row in the Seria-A and became one of the greatest ever. At 21, the world lay out in front of him, and World Cup the perfect stage to display his quiet mastery of the beautiful game.

Alexio del Nieran strode over to the door. He liked Marco, he was reminded of himself in many ways. Both players were identified as once in a generation talents from the moment they first touched a ball. Both made their professional and national debuts at 17. Both had phenomenal control of the ball, able to make the sphere do whatever they wanted. They had their differences, mainly in their playstyles. Marco van Ciavatinni was the master of simplicity. A head fake and a shift in weight and he was gone into thin air. Alexio del Nieran combined his ball control with natural Erathi flair, performing spectacular tricks and embarrassing defenders. Marco, a playmaker first and foremost, although an absolutely lethal finisher in his own right. Alexio, a goal scoring machine who looked to drive through the defense with unyielding determination.

As he reached out for the handle, he briefly wondered what this conversation would be about, Marco was a very reserved man, keeping his thoughts to himself and only rarely speaking, preferring to let his game speak for him. He turned the knob, the door swinging inwards.

Marco stood there, offering his hand. “Hey Alexio, I hope I’m not disturbing you.”

Alexio grasped it firmly, offering a smile down to the star 37 years his junior. “Of course not Marco, I always have time for the team, come on in!” Marco walked into the room and sat at a small round glass table in the corner of the suite. Alexio del Nieran followed, the door swinging shut behind him as he sat down opposite of the Sebio City player.

“What’s on your mind, Marco? It’s a late night my friend, we’ve a bit of a football date in case you’ve forgotten!” Marco smiled and nodded, bowing his head.

“Well…it’s a bit of a goofy request, I’m not going to lie. I’d like to hear about how you improved, how you drove yourself to succeed. I know your story, you're the most successful Erathi player ever. You won titles in some of the best leagues in the world, you played with Simeone Di Bradini. Simeone Di Bradini. That's incredible…I just want to be the best I can. I was wondering if you had any tips, words of wisdom that I could take advantage of." The 21 year old slouched in his chair a little as he spoke, his eyes flitting from Alexio's to different spots around the room.

Inwardly, Alexio del Nieran smiled to himself. Sheer determination right there. Sheer motivation and drive of will to be excellent. He loved it. He had the fire in his stomach, Alexio remembered it well from being a player. That all-consuming desire to improve to be better than the others, to be the best ever. He couldn't help but appreciate that, it made him like Marco van Ciavatinni even more than he already did.

"Of course, Marco! I'm honored that you would come to me with, it shows a great deal of desire and professionalism from you, I'm impressed. It's a little late in the night, and I've become a bit older, so I might not be able to go into full detail, but I certainly wouldn't mind sitting down with you again in the future to keep talking, maybe even show you a thing or two on the pitch!" Alexio laughed, more than happy to talk to young Marco.

"Well, to start out with, my career took me all over the world, and I think that was one of the best things I ever could have done. It gave me a great opportunity to see and learn so much, playing in the best league in the world in Cafundeu, playing with players from one of the best nations in sporting history in Polar Islandstates, it was brilliant. Never lose sense of that fire, that love of football. You know what I mean, the sheer joy you get from playing the game. That's what will drive you to the top."

"You have motivation, and a natural desire to become the best of the best, and those are better than talent any-day. Of course, it helps when you've got the skills players like you and me have, but the mental game is essential. We play a little different, you and I, you're a much better playmaker than I ever was, but you have a good nose for goal like me. One thing I noticed watching you play over the past few years is that sometimes you try to do too much for the team, try to create too much."

"Look, I'll be honest, you're magnificent. You have such a great control of the ball, the ability to glide past players is easier than breathing for you, you could easily make it to the goal without a problem. If I can be honest with you, sometimes maybe forget about the team. Take it into your hands, ignore the pass, go for goal. You can score, you can singlehandedly change the fate of the game in a way that doesn't involve passing and finding the open man. I'm not asking you to go solo mode and give the finger to the team, just sometimes put your head down, believe in the yourself and the ball, and you know you'll make it to goal."

"I'm sorry, I have to go to bed Marco, I'd like to continue this conversation at a later time. You're a good lad, an outstanding lad, and I want to see you do well, I hope I was able to help a little," Alexio del Nieran got up and started moving towards the door. Marco van Civatinni was slow to get up, pondering what the old Erathi legend, a remnant of a bygone era of sporting powers like Astograth, Mytannion, Erathore, and Polar Islandstates, had said.

"One last question boss, how was Di Bradini?" Alexio turned and smiled at the 21 year old as he passed through the doorway.

"I can't put into words how amazing it was to play with him for a season. He was magic, sheer Starblaydi magic, and he understood the game in a way very few men are capable of doing. He was brilliance. Goodnight Marco, I enjoyed our little chat, and look forward to speaking again soon."

"Likewise Alexio, thank you very much for taking the game. Goodnight boss, let's get a win tomorrow."

"Let's get a win." The door shut.

"Sometimes in football, or any sport really, you have to put a bad game behind you", said Coach Hausta in a post Match 2 interview. "Game 1 was a bad loss in a close game. Tonight we played another game that we were favored to win. The game could have went two ways. We could have sulked and let Game 1 hinder our confidence. Or we could put that behind us and come out fresh."

The first half of the game was scoreless. It was a close battle, where the battle of possession was similar. There were also a similar amount of shots on goal. New Gazi had several chances at goal in the first half.

New Gazi has shown a scoring prowess from the corner. Their first corner was on the 16th minute. This time Uffe Diya lined up to kick. His pass curved inward towards the goal. He was going for a goal Olympico and his pass was actually a shot. It threatened the goalkeeper, but the save was made.

The longshot drew cheers from the crowd. A reporter asked Diya about it after the game. "Plays like that are a part of Gazilian football. We're known for our flair. The keeper sniffed it out though. Maybe next time it'll connect.

It was the second flashy shot the Cannoneers had missed. In Game 1, Mosi Okoye sent up a spinning bicycle kick that bounced off the crossbar.

Coach Hausta defended Diya's shot from the corner. "Sometimes you have to try to surprise your opponent. That shot opened the field for every corner. It kept the keeper focused on more than intercepting a pass, and made him watch more than the closest players to him.

In the second half, New Gazi stepped up their play. They began to dominate the battle of possession, slowing the game down and moving the ball around the field. Now they were being tactical. After passing the ball in a wide circle, a cross was sent inwards to Contee who turned in and ran past his defender for it. The run was well timed and he found space just for a one touch shot that rocketed past the charging keeper.

Contee celebrated by putting his arms out and back in the classic airplane maneuver.

"It was a stalemate I was glad to break", Contee said about his goal.

New Gazi's second goal came at the 76th minute. The ball was moving up the right side after a clearance. Imari Lefisse sent a through ball up to Jelle Asari. Asari rocked his shoulders and hips with a juke straight out of American football. Then he kicked the ball slightly forward and cut to the left. The move took him past his defender. Another defender rushed from the left and slid inward towards him.

Asari quickly sent a shot forward and then jumped over the sliding defender in an acrobatic play. Asari landed on his backside just as his shot rolled off the back of the net. He made it.

The team ran to him in support and cheered. New Gazi was now up 2-Nil.

Defense played a major part in this game. Center Back Thao Yeboah helped shut down the middle of the field, leading New Gazi in tackles and clearances. He did draw a yellow card off a poorly timed sliding challenge. It was the only Gazilian card of the match.

"I need to watch out and not become a victim of the refs", Yeboah said. "They've always been unfair to me."

The Coach didn't seem to like Yeboah's statement. When asked how he felt, Coach Hausta responded, "Thao needs to accept what the refs hand down to him. He needs to time his challenges better. I know he's a tough guy, but he needs to watch himself sometimes."

Vangaziland dual citizen, Martin Starr played a few minutes for New Gazi. He took a shot at goal off a free kick, but it sailed over the goalpost on the 83rd minute.

"I saw good things tonight", said Coach Hausta. "I look forward to seeing how we fair against some of the group's tougher teams."

A disappointing start for Prusy Krolewskie

Revolutionary Nordskania (NEIP) - The Reprezentacja Pruski started off the qualifications with two losses and played terribly. Prusy Krolewskie lost 1–0 against Mattijana at home in Ueckermünde, Wojewodztwo Wschodniomeklemburgia in front of a sell out Stadion Heinemeyer. Prusy Krolewskie played well defensively during the 1st half but they didn't set up any offense. The best chance was at the 21st minute when Amelia Zalwowska made a header pass to Zbigniew Zajaczkowski who heads the ball but Matej Handanović made a fantastic save. However it was the only real chance by the Zielony i bialy in the 1st half. Zofia Kwietniewska had a terrific first half, stopping everything, she dove on her right to make a miraculous save against Andreas Weiss and then she prevented Edvard Craz from scoring. Prusy Krolewskie played bad in the 2nd half and Mattijana had a couple of good chances, their best chance was a wide left shot by Jessika Struna. Unfortunately, Mattijana scored at the 81st minute on agoal by Martin Hojbjerg from the penalty area. Jessika Struna made a decisive pass on this play.

Boxscore
81st minute - Martin Hojbjerg assisted by Jessika Struna

Yellow Cards
Prusy Krolewskie: Hartmann, Strzyzowski, Welzmüller
Mattijana: Illisevic, Adrianov

Prusy Krolewskie didn't play better on the road against Revolutionary Nordskania at Port of Turbayov Stadium and lost 3–1. The offense had slightly more chances than against Mattijana but the defense played badly and Kwietniewska didn't had a terrific game like against Mattijana. Revolutionary Nordskania opened the score at the 27th minute when Pyotor Afanasyev makes a cross to Damir Dragovic-Courtial and he scores in the top right corner of the net. At the 36th minute, Krzysztof Januszkiewicz trips Ces Yoshida in the penalty area. Luckily she's not injured and she takes the penalty herself. She shoots and scores, 2–0 Revolutionary Nordskania. Prusy Krolewskie finally scores at the 58th minute when Sarah Schroffenegger makes a cross to Pawel Wawrzynkiewicz. Pawel Wawrzynkiewicz then makes a header pass to Zbigniew Zajaczkowski who heads the ball into the net! But Revolutionary Nordskania scores again at the 88th minute on a counter attack. Amelia Zalwowska passes to Katarzyna Grzywinska but Christian Nadarevic knocks the ball away with a nice tackle, Vlad Bilous picks up the loose ball and runs and passes to Arkadi Zima who runs and passes to Ces Yoshida. Ces Yoshida shoots ans scores. 3–1 Revolutionary Nordskania. This is the final score.

Boxscore
27th minute - Damir Dragovic-Courtial assisted by Pyotor Afanasyev
36th minute - Ces Yoshida (penalty shot)
58th minute - Zbigniew Zajaczkowski assisted by Pawel Wawrzynkiewicz
88th minute - Ces Yoshida assisted by Arkadi Zima

Yellow Cards
Revolutionary Nordskania: Ante Sindler
Prusy Krolewskie: Przemyslaw Zawistowski, Krzysztof Januszkiewicz

Next matchday, Prusy Krolewskie will have a bye week, and on matchday 4, the Reprezentacja Pruski will receive Frenline Delpha at Stadion Narodowy w Ozorkowie in Ozorkow, Wojewodztwo Pomorskie

Sources for use of students to complete their Non-Examined Assessment (coursework).

Instructions: Write 3500 words answering the following question.
''The changes in the electoral system between 1860-1980 is the most important factor in improving the representation of the working class in government.''

Do you agree?

It is of my belief that our First Past the Post electoral system is fundamentally unfair, and unrepresentative of the votes of the public. Therefore, I propose that we move to a system which has been coined before as the 'Additional Member System', or AMS for short. This is a system by which a section of Parliament (usually over 50%) is elected using the traditional First Past the Post system, and the remaining proportion of the seats in Parliament are allocated proportionally to parties on a closed list basis. This system is advantageous in balancing the demands of the public for Parliament to be more representative of their actual votes, but also reducing the possibility of a coalition, therefore meaning that a government is more stable. I am filing for this electoral system to be used for all Ethanian General Elections from hereon in, and I hope that you will all join me in bringing this to pass.

A proposal to change the electoral system to the Additional Member System, 1968

Elections in Ethane are going to have an interesting twist in the future. Just yesterday, the government passes legislation to change the electoral system used in Ethanian general elections from First Past the Post to the Additional Member System. This is revolutionary for a major political party, to change an electoral system which was providing them with dividends every election, especially when they could be hit the hardest from the electoral system change. We all have to remember this government as the one that made elections fairer and more democratic, giving small parties every ability to get seats in parliament as big parties do.

An extract from an article in the Ethane Echo praising the government for the electoral reform, 1968

With recent changes to the election system, some of you are going to be confused as to how you vote. Well, here are some simple instructions to help you:
I. On the ballot paper, you need to tick 2 boxes.
IIa. On the left, you tick the representative you want in parliament for you.
IIb. This is the First Past the Post part, so whoever you choose will be your local constituency representative in parliament.
IIc. In this vote, the candidate with the highest number of votes wins. A majority is not needed.
IIIa. On the right hand side, you tick the party you wish to support.
IIIb. The party you tick on this list vote can be different from the party the local representative you ticked is from. This is called 'split-ticket voting.'
IIIc. In this vote, the seats are divided up amongst the amount of votes, and seats are awarded proportionally to each party.
IIId. A party needs at least 5% of the vote to get 1 seat, even if a seat is not worth 5% of the vote.
IV. You may tick 1 box on each side. If you tick more than one, your vote is not counted.
V. A simple cross in the box of the party you support in pencil will suffice. Pencils will be provided.
VI. You do not need to place a vote in both ballots. You can only vote for a local representative, or only vote for a party.

A government-issued document detailing to the public how to vote using the new electoral system, 1969

The recent elections have proven to be a disaster for the new electoral system. Issues with both ballot papers not being printed has led to many people not getting their 2 mandated votes, something not very democratic at all. Even with the government issued document explaining how to vote, many people were confused as to how they should vote, leading to 15% of all ballot papers being spoilt, leading to many people's votes not counting. The government has been accused of fixing the election, as apparently the instructions on how to vote were predominantly sent out in areas which support the incumbent government. The government has been slated for this, and is now facing calls to re-run the election, either with FPTP again, or with clearer instructions on how people should vote that everyone receives. This is a disgrace to Ethane, and this election is one of the most undemocratic shambles I have ever seen.

An article in the New Sarum Times slating the government over the undemocratic election that took place, 1970

I feel robbed. This wasn't an election. This was an undemocratic shambles. I was looking forward to the introduction of the new electoral system, which was billed as one of the most democratic moves done by a government ever, but this is the complete opposite of democracy. People were prevented from voting, people didn't have second ballots, people didn't know how to vote, and this all took place in areas which don't support the incumbent government. In all the areas that support the incumbent areas that support the government, the election ran smoothly. I feel disgraced by this move.

Monica's Thoughts, a blog which ran throughout the 1960's and 1970's on news in Ethane. This is an extract of a blog slating the undemocratic election in 1970.

This election has gone surprisingly smoothly. It was highly expected that undemocratic manouvres such as the ones pulled by the incumbent government at the last election would be pulled again at this re-run, but nothing of the sort happened. Everyone knew how to vote, as they had been told finally, everyone got second ballot papers, so no one was prevented from voting. This is what democracy is. This is a massive success for the new election system, and we can now expect it to stay in place.

An article in the New Sarum Times stating shock at the smoothness of the re-run of the election, 1971.

An Evening With Spleen

"Cue the tinkly music, go on the flashing lights! And roll camera."

Spleen "Hello you miserable reprobates and welcome to an evening with me, Mr Spleen your lovable reporter and the most knowledgeable man in Kalumba, on a few very select subjects. Such is the demand I am in I've been given a prime time talk show to keep you all entertained, but enough about me it's time to bring on tonight's guest.

Now this man is a proper legend up their in the pantheon of Kalumban sporting gods, and I must say he has been looking lonely since George Davies went to meet the big man in the sky, please welcome the one and only Almond Nofamela!"

AN "Hello to you my good sir, what do I call you?"

Spleen "You can call me Spleen sir, please take a seat. I must admit I am a little lost for words in your presence, but I shall try and introduce you. Not of course that you need it, but we have to pad out a whole hour of this.

Almond Nofamela, the name is on a road sign or prestigious office block in every city and town in Kalumba, and sits on the main stand of Kahali National Stadium. There is a whole village in Ba'Tsongaland named after this man, and why you ask? He is no statesman or soldier, he is just a player of the game.

False he is the player of the game in Kalumba, the first Afrosian native to represent Kalumba he remains the nations highest ever scorer and frankly is simply the best there has ever been. Almond hoe does it feel to be such a hero?"

AN "Well I think hero is perhaps to strong a word, all I did was score goals which others made and even that is nothing compared to the sacrifice of our soldiers who keep us safe from terror."

Spleen "You are too humble sir, but on the subject of our soldiers you began your career in the army playing for the Kalumban Afrosian Rifles team which with your goals won it's first ever army cup in 1962. How did it feel to beat your supposedly racially superior counter parts at their own game?"

AN "It was a strange feeling I think mainly because of the coverage it received from all sides of the argument. I saw myself then and now as a Kalumban, just like I see you as a Kalumban and everyone regardless of colour or creed as a Kalumban. So I was upset to be described as a brutish ape by one side of the press and as a liberation hero on the other. I wanted to be seen a symbol of reconciliation and hope. I fought for this country."

Spleen "You did indeed, and I suppose you did become that symbol when you were allowed into the national team. How did it feel to become the first Afrosian player to represent the Kudus?"

AN "Again Spleen it was a strange experience. I did not see myself as anything special and the attention I received was upsetting especially when people said I shouldn't play because I was native or because it only strengthened the slave masters arm. I just wanted to play the game and bring people together in their love for our shared country."

Spleen "And do you think you succeeded in that goal?"

AN "Well we are a single nation now, and you described me as a hero so perhaps I contributed."

Spleen "Haha, yet still so modest. Now onto your career, what would you say was your proudest moment?"

AN "Stepping out on the pitch in the green, white and blue for the first time. My soul was flying that day."

Spleen "Just the honour of representing Kalumba, or the hat trick you scored?"

AN "Ah yes, well perhaps that did help but really to play for your country is an incomparable feeling."

Spleen "Now your best goal, the 40 yard volley against Norvenia? Or the epic run and chipped finish against Lydenburg?"

AN "Both were good goals if I may be so bold, but for me it has to be my first. It was a terrible finish, it was even a finish really. I went to volley and missed the ball which cannoned off my standing leg to wrong foot the keeper and trickle in. It wasn't the finest but it got me going and all the pressure was gone. From that moment on I could play my game and just enjoy football."

Spleen "Your career sadly ended before any true international competition, do you regret never having played in a sanctioned tournament?"

AN "Of course, everyone dreams of wining the world cup but it can't happen for everyone so I'm just happy I got to play at all."

Spleen "How proud are you of your old team mate, George Davies, and all his achievements?"

AN "I cannot begin to express how much he has done for our team and our nation, I'm jsut so sorry that he has gone. God will have mercy on his soul."

Spleen "What do you see as the future for this team?"

AN "I think we are going to struggle in the next few tournaments but this is a great bunch of players and the confidence is high, so maybe in a few years we can compete to qualify."

Spleen "Almond it has been a true pleasure, thank you very much."

AN "The pleasure is all mine."

Roll end credits.

(OOC: Continued from here. viewtopic.php?p=29638598#p29638598 Please note, the attack on Eura is timed as halfway through the final tournament of WC75.)

Surviving a near death experience can be just as traumatic as it can be relieving. In a hardened bunker somewhere along the Euran-Sameban “Danger Zone”, their mutual border, three journalists found themselves caught in such a situation. Monty found himself covered in dust, having been saved at the last moment by a mystery hand grabbing him through an armoured hatch. The combined hits dealt by the first barrage of artillery fire from across the border hadn’t penetrated, but they had shaken loose years of built up grime. Indeed for just a few minutes the insides of the top level fortifications would look more pristine than they had for years. He was fascinated by this, ignorant of the chaos going on around him, in a trance like state induced by extreme stress and his near-death moments before. Sergeant Mace would save him again though. ‘Snap out of it and move you silly old fucker!’ The gruff Euran NCO shook Monty by his shoulders angrily which did finally prompt the reporter to move. Kat was nearby, having reacted with terror to the apparent nuclear attack further down the line not long ago. Now she struck a much calmer note as she instructed Rowan to help the soldiers by carrying equipment up some steep ladders.

Once he had come to his senses, Monty finally used his right instincts for the job. He snatched up his camera and retreated to the back of the compartment. Kat had seemingly read his mind, already setting up some audio equipment before running down the ladders to get some water and torches. All of this took place during a cacophony of noise from outside as thousands of munitions rained down on the Euran line. Soldiers were screaming instructions at each other deeper into the tunnels, which echoed back up in a rather haunting way despite all the din of the bombardment. It continued for five minutes. Then ten minutes. Then even longer. It simply didn’t seem to end. Mace, Bray, Green, Mack and Stein were being forced to wait out this gruelling ordeal in silence, interrupted only by the odd attempt to express confusion over the background noise. There was no outside communication either except for one of Brown’s runners to occasionally come in and check on them, before leaving again at a near sprint. It was a totally bizarre situation, but at least one they had trained for. Monty finally got a word in with Mace after taking a few photos of the squad’s body language in this situation. ‘Sarge, do we know anything about what’s going on outside of here?’
‘No, and let’s concentrate on here for now, yeah? I’m sure our guns further back and the air force are giving these bastards their own kind of hell.’ Mace might have talked the language of a defiant man, but his chilly demeanour and shaking grip of his Chemical/Biolgical/Nuclear protection kit suggested nerves were taking hold.

Minutes became hours quite quickly, though those hours felt like days. The bombardment ebbed and flowed at times but maintained a pretty intense pace constantly. By now they had moved down to the second level after what must have been a direct hit from a light, non-penetrating rocket had shattered fittings inside and given them all a “life flashed before my eyes” moment. At least down here they could get a clearer picture of what was going on, and their bones didn’t rattle quite so much as thousands of tonnes of explosions rained down on their positions. The radio picture was complex but the essential facts were that Sameba had launched a gargantuan artillery, rocket and aerial bombardment of the central tracts of the line, attempted a rapid breakthrough to the west in the wake of an apparent underground nuclear attack, and that it had used tunnels to clear gaps in the minefield straddling the DZ. Areas of the line were now being assaulted in numbers, though few details had come through of what sort of shape the ground attack was taking. This was bad territory for vehicles, including most tanks, but not so bad that they wouldn’t be used. The section clearly had this in mind as they nervously poured through their stock of anti-tank rounds.

Like the heavens clearing following a storm, this spell of oblivion subsided quite suddenly. It was equal parts relieving and ominous – the former because the imminent threat of a heavy round direct hit was over, the latter because of what logically must come next. The soldiers moved upstairs again, followed by Monty, Kat and Rowan with their cameras. Private Bray didn’t like this one bit, cutting off Kat as she tried to come up. ‘No can do love, two is enough.’
‘But I’m needed up there!’
‘You willing to point a rifle and shoot?’ She scowled rather than giving him an answer. ‘Yeah, exactly. Get under cover and wait for us to call for ammo.’ Kat retreated, as much as she didn’t want to, leaving Monty and Rowan alone. After a few minutes the gun port shielding was uncoupled, exposing the squad to the smell of the brimstone, choking air of industrial warfare. Fires burned nearby in the heath and the sound of not so distant heavy gunfire could be heard. The rumble of the long range guns continued too, but it seemed to be mainly outgoing rather than incoming now. They all waited with baited breath. Destiny awaited, but none of the section were eager to meet and greet it. Green had his eyes closed and he was staring at the floor. Stein was praying. Mace glanced at the picture of his kids on the back of his wristwatch. Bray and Mack even shook hands and exchanged a quick hug, such was the gravity of the situation. They were kitted out and ready to go with two GPMG’s, rifles, a grenade launcher and much more.

For a short time it felt like this might all be some big practical joke. Nothing and no-one came, even though they knew full and well other units were getting hit. The closest they had seen was some tracer fire streaking over the line about a mile to the west. Before they could get comfortable fate did arrive, eventually. The ground shook as artillery rounds splashed close by. Private Neerall, the section’s oddball, was snappily instructed by Mace to bring up their central field radio to communicate with the other sections in the platoon as well as the company. Monty took a quick peek out of the nearest gun port over Mack’s soldier to look for any sign of the enemy, but all he could see was smoke illuminated by fire and flares in the darkness. Nevertheless, one could hear the unmistakeable sound of engines, and they were close. Stein zeroed in with her machine gun, tucked neatly into the perfect firing position. ‘LT-14’s and infantry, boss. Coming in slowly. Christ, there’s a lot of them.’
‘I see an LPV-5. Shit, I know they’re old crap jeeps but has that thing got an SPG on it?’
‘Do we shoot? Sarge!’
‘Hold.’ Mace was determined not to blow this. They waited even longer, letting the advancing troops that Monty couldn’t see reach some sort of levelled out land out front. ‘They’re getting bloody close sir, less than a few hundred metres.’
‘Mack, Stein, remain zeroed on the infantry. Bray and Green, on my mark I want you to hit that front LT-14 right on its weak armour belt with the AT. I’ll pop the first shot. Got it?’ Everyone nodded. There was no need to speak. Mace pulled the trigger and a couple of hundred metres in front of them, a young man with his whole life ahead of him was cut down like wheat in a harvest. It had begun.

La Nación's editorial about the events of this week

“While diplomacy might be flourishing in Esportiva, the situation between Eura and Sameba has reached a non-return point after the attacks, how our nation should act in a world in constant change and dynamism? Which would be our role in this situations? Should we get involved and seek for peace? As a nation with a strong democratic tradition and respect for peace, we should be into that duty”.

In this week, there has been a chain of events that make contrast about the situation of diplomacy all around the three main sporting regions; in Esportiva, the situation is turning into a matter of unity, friendship and cooperation while in Rushmore, the situation is being chaotically and getting even more chaotically every day after the full-scale attack launched by Sameba against their enemies and superpower of the region, Eura, in an action that could be described as a suicide for a nation that has been ravaged by poverty and corruption during all its existence, considering the capacity for a counterattack that Eura has, the amount of personnel which is more or less seventeen million people and having a potential to conscript hundreds of millions, a formidable army which has the capacity to beat Sameba without major issues, if it weren’t by the fact that Sameba has nuclear arsenal and they have demonstrated that they are reckless and will not doubt to use it, if not, see what happened this Monday in cities like Falourr, massive shooting and the detonation of a nuclear weapon has caused a really high death toll, maybe hundreds of thousands dead. While in Esportiva, the efforts to do an union are being more closer to be real, the Marlborough summit has demonstrated to be a success and the nations have reached a series of agreements that paved the way for the Esportivan Union in a quasi-definitive mode.

Let’s focus first on what’s happening right now in Esportiva, especially in our nation, since it’s involved in the efforts for integration, specifically in the economic aspects such as the creation of a regional bank and a regional currency. Generally speaking, the idea of an Esportivan Bloc is to integrate the nations of Esportiva in different aspects such as economy, legislation, commerce and supranational institutions which ensure to make democracy bigger and stronger since it’s founded in the principles of human rights, democracy, equality and the law; a model that’s entirely compatible with our models and principles which are stablished since the foundation of the Third Republic and the appearance of the Monarchy for our nation, values that were difficult to achieve and included thousands of lives lost in that struggle for a better country for our sons, grandsons and their future generations. Being the entity responsible with Guayabalense principles, how it will benefit us? Not only the political class or big business such as Stat Oil, Aceros del Sur and others, I mean, how it will benefit us? The average citizen, the little entrepreneurs and everybody else? One of the controversial points of this agreement would be in that area but in the next paragraph, we will answer.

Don’t expect to have an easy beginning where we will start enjoying rights all from a sudden, we will enjoy those benefits but slowly and this moment of transition will be vital to us, as society, to keep an eye on every move that the Government might do in order to keep our institutions in the same standard as we do or if possible to improve them more, the agreement will be a golden opportunity to press for more changes into our system, although it’s a good system, there’s more opportunity to make it better for all of us, especially in areas as free speech, where people has been “shy” all over this years by fears and taboos generated since the age of Communism and “Seguridad del Estado” when they spied our calls and meetings in order to find dissent among people and punish them, this is our golden chance to guarantee those people who still believes in that taboo to change their mind and make them aware that in the Union, we will make our institutions stronger and become into the cradle of liberty for what we fought for, we are close to achieve it bout we need to give the last step. In economic issues, we can improve even more, we, as La Nación, have defended always an economy with less restriction and intervention of the State in our economy, though they have done a good job, it might be the time to loosen up the regulations a bit more and keep it for strategical areas into our economy, such as the oil industry, it’s time to privatize some services and allow a more dynamic economy, but not going all commercial and start abusing of people while doing it, let’s keep the same values but offer better services, let’s keep this into a fair business and not a dogfight.

Continuing with the economic aspects, it will be important to be aware that the position that our nation has been granted in that area, as a key part of it and the house of the Esportivan Central Bank (ECB), a position that the Social Democratic government MUST take advantage of it, since now we are becoming into an example for the region in that sense, not an explicit one, an implicit example, but the point still stands, it’s important to handle things well, to get anticipation to certain situations such as a crisis, let’s act fast and stop it, do mitigation actions to prevent situations that might make our reputation being damaged. Something that the Government MUST improve is their ability to communicate their ideas and proposals, it’s time to be clear and stop doing rodeos while talking, don’t go out of the tangent and get into what they have to do, since this government has been specialized on focusing in irrelevant things and forgetting things that are important. We as a society must ask for the government for answers, consistent and logical answers, not issues that are not relevant and it turns to be a maquillage of the reality, why they do that? Do they think that we are ignorant people? Doing that is for sure a suicide for this government that has been crumbling since some time ago, though we have to accept that the integration meetings have been working well, to the point of purposing the Corona as the currency for the Bloc, something that was accepted unanimously, at least they were able to reach consensus with the region in this key issue.

Now moving out to Rushmore, the situation has been tense for some years but the straw that broke the camel was the “suicidal” move that Sameba did against Eura, attacking them with nuclear weapons and suicide bombers in locations that turned to be decisive, to the point of attacking the city where the Prime Minister of Eura was giving a speech, Falourr, in a clear attempt to hit Eura where it hurts the most, and also attacking some strategical points such as military bases and other facilities where the Eurans keep their ultra-secret arsenal, hits that were planned beforehand by “spies who were into Euran territory” or Samebans residing in Eura, what many people might ask themselves is why Gartanzo decided to commit suicide? Since this is basically suicide, attacking a superpower, the biggest one in the three sporting regions, it was an exercise to demonstrate superiority to Eura? A bad move may I say, maybe the worst move that he could have done, the worst in the history of Sameba, a nation which is now condemned to be attacked brutally by the fault of their governors which have not controlled everything in their nation, turning it into a failed state and making their people get into a situation of poverty and uncertainty with their future.

On the lights of what happened with Eura, we, as La Nación say to the Eurans that they are into our prayers and thoughts, and surely into the thoughts of many Guayabalenses, since Eura has helped us back when we were into our darkest hours, they have been there and I must applaud what the Government did, sending humanitarian aid and oil for Eura in an undisclosed amount, and the Military doesn’t denies the fact that they would be able to send help as people able to fight against Sameba when needed and avoid the help of Sameban allies such as Gregoryisgodistan. It’s good to know that the multiverse is helping Eura when they are in their darkest hour, we, as free nations, whose main values are democracy, freedom, equality and justice, must fight against those nations who want to impose values that are against our main values which have been ours since hundreds of years and won with effort and thousands of lives lost, in this moment, it’s matter to get together and fight that enemy which is hungry to disturb our peace and damage our institutions, societies and our lifestyle, we must be aware that the enemy will fight hard but the prize for it will be bigger than anything. Let’s join and fight the enemy, with courage, with dedication and effort.

In conclusion: Our nation is in a key moment both multiversally and regionally, and it’s the moment to react and get into the train before it leaves us, it’s time to get a role in a dynamic and changing word in every aspect, from economy to democracy and peace, we, as a democratic and peaceful nation, must promote peace via dialogue or via force if the enemy doesn’t understands the message, fighting would not be a good option but there’s no way to go if they don’t open their eyes and accept the reality, our nation must get into this new world with an active role, not being silent, to promote ideas and innovate as we are known to do, we are a hard-working and innovative nation which respects differences, we can do the same in this new panorama and help those who need it, and doing it will be important since we will be able to get more experiences and enrich our system and improve everything that needs some overhauling.

White Suns Two, White Shirts One
By Rami Niblick in Blackfort, Hasznia

FIRST seeds the Dragons may be, but that is not an assurance that the road to Ceni and Electrum will be a smooth one. The men in white (and that still sounds wrong to a lot of fans) found a particuarly nasty pothole in Blackfort last night, as they were bested by a fired-up Hasznia side. There will be questions to be asked and problems to solve for Dario Navas and his team in the games to come after this slipshod performance.

Of course, to draw attention to Krytenia's failings would be rather unfair to their opponents. The White Suns - in dark blue - played some top-drawer football and will now be many people's tips for that automatic quaification spot that the Krytenians hold dear. The problem was that Hasznia should have been out of the game well before then. Krytenia, as is their trademark, started with early pressure, looking to exploit weaknesses in their opponents' defence. Valrauncion blazed over early, and when Marco Angelo fizzed a shot into the box, Rudy Summers' excellent save served only to push the ball into the path of Alex Sampson. A little unfair on the keeper, perhaps, but a poacher's goal is still a goal.

All credit to their opponents, though. Hasznia didn't put their heads down, and instead decided, with steely determination, to break down the Dragons' onslaught. Valrauncion, Sampson, and Armando Ortega were reduced to shooting from range; Hasznia, meanwhile, struggled to get the ball out of their own half. It was rather a surprise, then, that the second goal went the way it did.

Maybe there were a few lapses in concentration so close to half-time. Maybe it was just the home side going gung-ho for that final attack of the half. Either way, it produced an equaliser. Billy Diaz's ball could best be described as "hopeful"; it evaded a flat-footed Rob Adams, though, allowing Alex Hawkins to get behind the back four and slot the ball past Devon Williams. The visiting defence appealed for offside; unfortunately for them, Hawkins had timed his run to perfection and the White Suns went into the break on level terms.

A knock to the talismanic - but ineffective - Ortega saw him replaced with Mark Rankine early in the second half. Perhaps it was a stroke of luck for the home side, as the Krytenians continued to press; without their biggest threat, though, Hasznia held firm, largely thanks to a string of top-class saves from the increasingly confident Summers. Time after time, the Blackfort City stopper was there to prevent certain goal after certain goal. As the Krytenian attack became more frustrated, the mistakes crept in. Valrauncion dallied too long on the ball, Barrett Villa dispossessed him with a robust (but fair) challenge, and as the elf flopped to the floor like someone had stolen his lunch money, Hasznia stole the match. Carter Vick's big hoof upfield sucker-punched the Krytenians for the second time, and Jesse Clayton celebrated his first cap with a finish that their fans will be talking about for years.

All, of course, is not lost. There are ten more qualifiers to go; next up, it's the more familiar surroundings of the Southern Arena and a big six-pointer against Damukuni. Onward!

HASZNIA - 2
Hawkins 45+1
Clayton 75

The Rainbow Revolution Book II: The Flame Burns
Part II: Nefarious Schemes

Meagan Kelly always enjoyed the feel of hot cascading water on her shoulders after a long, grueling match. Today was no exception, especially after going through a match against the Phoenix, who ran a very odd composition of eight midfielders that made her job be insanely hard. There wasn't a single time that she touched the ball that she wasn't immediately swarmed by two or three opposing players. She had done her part, though, even assisting on the decisive goal from Ki Niro that gave the Anomalies-in-Exile the win over a Phoenix team that had been at an undefeated 2-0. Thorben & the defense had done absolutely fantastic as well, stymieing the opposing attack; the grim resolve with which the team was approaching every game whilst in exile was getting the job done for certain.

She had no idea when it would be that she would be returning home. Yes, Turori was another home to her as of late, and she had gotten very fond of Kionao, but Chromatika was still her homeland, the place of her birth, and where most of her friends resided. All they could do at this point was play the game and hope for the best in the results and decisions that were to come from the Rainbow Revolution. She had personally met with Marco Ni, Lisa Amos, and a lot of the other leaders; they seemed to be waiting for something to happen in the days to come, as if a signal would come from outside of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec.

Another game against the current group leaders loomed in the horizon, as it would be HUElavia this time, another team sitting at 2-0-0 before their match against the Anomalies. It was their first cycle as the first seed, but they knew the mindset with which other teams played. They were the ones with the proverbial target on their backs this time, and it would be up to them t prove that they deserved the jump in rankings that they had been bestowed after the last cycle.

Marco Ni sat in his bunker-like office somewhere in the streets of Montréal, Québec. It had been an year and a half since the relocation of the Rainbow Revolution to the foreign nation. He was not happy about the circumstances that brought them there, but he understood that it was a necessity. News from the homeland had become more and more scarce as the situation deteriorated further and further into borderline madness, but he still had a few cards up his sleeve, and he was reading a report from one of them.

Was it time already? Yes, he had talked with DQ - or Alina Krasnikova - about the possible abduction of the DG ever since she defected to the Rainbow Revolution a long time ago. She had known better than he that she would be a double agent who would be in the position to provide information to the very end - whichever end that was. They had talked about the best people for the job, herself included, and given code names to them of Alpha, Beta, and Omega. The three agents in mind had not bee informed about any of the plan until was necessary, but now was the time, it seemed.

He sent the customary reply of acknowledgement and picked up his phone. It was time to call them into his office.

Niadri el los-Hiros sat at his desk, brooding in thought. How was it that one of his best friends from his childhood through teenage years had become one of the most notorious despots in the world? It was a question that he asked of himself more times that he would like, perusing his memory for possible instances where he could have stopped Heidi from becoming the DG as she was now. Such a sweet, innocent person... Now the number one enemy.

His email chirped, and he looked to see a summons from M. He double read the message, and sighed. Something was brewing, all right...

He was the best sniper in the Chromatik Military Forces. Being called for a secret mission was nothing new, but something told him whom his target would be.

His old friend.

There was one thing that the Rainbow Revolution's leaders did not know, however. That they had dated once, him and Heidi. That he still loved her in a corner of his heart, that behind the broken, desperate, power-hungry woman there lay a young woman that he still had feelings for.

And if there was one thing he knew from his days in the military, it was that the only thing to trump one's desire to kill someone was one's desire to keep someone alive.

Nick Auze, Nick Auze and Nick Auze

As visitor, Fluvique lived an afternoon of celebration and defeated Vakolicci Haven and Celeria by 4-1, with a great performance of Nick Auze. The Mevosa FC's striker scored three goals -one by an overhead kick, other with a shot from 35 meters- and Ricky Bertens completed the score, in a match full of emotions in the first half hour.

With this victory, Fluvique has 7 points at the top of the table, one point above Semarland. Fluvique finished the match in the first half with a burst of goals which made capitulate the good intentions of Vakolicci Haven and Celeria, who tried to play in a similar style, but suffered the great performance of Aue and the runs of Bertens and Di Angello. Auze, who missed many opportunities in the previous match in Mevosa, started his glorious afternoon with a goal by an overhead kick, after a center of Calmwater. The ball was leaving the area, and there appeared Auze with the extraordinary movement to won over the entire defence and surprise the goalkeeper and everyone. He hit his chest while shouting, discharging some anger and pressure.

Carusso, from the bench, was shouting "calm, calm" and making gestures to be focused on the game. The team was sharp in attack, but in the first corner kick in the area of Paribas, the home team wounded the White Foxes. The team didn't had time to celebrate. Six minutes after, at 12', a long shot was threw from the midfield to the left of the attack, a midfielder grabbed the ball and passed it behind the Fluviquean defence and allowing a striker score with only Andy Paribas in front.

It was a bucket of cold water for the tricolor team. But Auze would be responsible for reheat the throats of the 100 Fluviqueans in the stadium. It was by a shot from 35 metres, when he noticed the local goalkeeper outside their own area. The shot from half distance got into the angle. Crazy goal. Amazing.

The confidence and self-steem was shown only a few minutes after. At 23, he received the ball backwards the goal in the right of the area and, with a backheel assisted Ricky Bertens, who did not hesitated in front of the goalkeeper. Touch to a side of him and 3-1 for Fluvique. That was not everything. Only 120 seconds after the third goal another one of Auze came. Di Angello avoided two players in the left and leave some of the in the turf, and threw a perfect center to Auze, who scored the 4-1 with a header to the second post. Four goals for Fluvique in 25 minutes.

Over the end of the first time, Bertens took the ball in the right and faced his defender with a sucession of feints bicycle-style over the ball. The home players thought that it was a mockery: violent foul, a kick when he was over the grass and a small fight between both squads. Despite some jostles, insults and shouts, the referee did not took any decision, calmed down the atmosphere and finished the first half.

In the second half, Fluvique was less intence and did't had another clear chance in the home goal. The last 45 minutes were boring and emotionless. Fluvique had the ball, but not the need of being dangerous with it, thus the control created a slow rhythm, without impetus and trying to not put the victory on danger. Vakolicci Haven and Celeria was not able to find a goal to creat some motivation to search the tie. In that context, everyone was asleep and the goal attemps were almost zero.

The first for the home team was at 58'. A header found Paribas in good position, who caught the ball without problems. The other for the locals was at 73', when a shot went over the crossbar after a bad move in defence, but the start was after a bad pass of Mhago. Vakolicci Haven and Celeria searched the epic comeback at home, but in contrast of Fluvique, they did not took advantage of every approach to the paysan goal.

For Fluvique, only three moves. The first at 65'. Tempted by the personal fourth, Auze ran near the rival area, touched with Gonza and shot with his left foot, but the home defence saved it. At 79', the hero of the day failed the most easy move of the match: alone, in front of the goalkeepeer, touched poorly with the peak of his boot and the ball went above the crossbar. A smile was on his face when he was lamenting the wasted opportunity. A minute after, Varelovsky shot outside the area and the ball hit the post.

End of the match and victory for Fluvique, the second in the qualifiers. Facing a rival who offered little resistance, the team had a good performance of its midfielders, specially of Bertens and Di Angello, plus the constributions of Fede and Mhago. Sam Gonza had a regular match, surrounded by many rivals who tried to control the best player of the multiverse. He was angry and upset, because the fierce defence and a sparse contact with the ball, his most beloved friend.

However, the focus on Gonza allowed other players to be free, unmarked and ready to exploit the free spaces. Fluvique has a variety of offensive options and its deployment is almost natural. The paysan strikers and offensive midfielders enjoy passing, do feints, avoid players and reach the goal with the ball under their feet. There are still some work to do in defence, but the starting eleven is more than clear (Lucas Topolsky did not play due to a headache). Carusso found the team? This is his style? Hard to know.

The hand of the manager is clear since the start and is getting stronger in every match. Maybe is not a beautiful style (it's on the other sidewalk of the tiki-taka) but everyone seems to be convinced of it. And, as Carusso also said: "To make it happen, we need to dream it. To dream it, we need to be convinced of our ideas. To be convinced of our ideas, we have to work everyday"

Qualifiers Report- MD1-3

-Welcome back to QADAN Live! It's been awhile since our last report from the qualifiers, and that's because Mr. Starks and Mr. Kleski had some buisness to take care of. They still do, so it's just me today. Anyways, the Qasden Vans have played their first 3 matches in the World Cup Qualifiers, 2 of which were played in Qasden. Let's see how these games turned out for the Blue-Reds.

New Gazi @ NQF

-Matchday 1 featured an epic game against the Cannoneers, and boy were they tough! For probably the majority of the game, New Gazi reigned superior against the Qads, but that quickly changed as Xandreas, Foster and Bostun helped the Vans top the Cannoneers, 3-2. The win enabled a victorious battle cry heard around the 'pality and maybe even in Geisenfried, as Qasden started the journey right. Coach Jon Merritt was satisfied, especially after some extreme practice prior to the match.

-"This just means we have the potential to survive Group 5, but New Gazi was just a start. Shoot, Turori and Schottia are gonna be much harder than the team we faced today, which means we need to practice harder, as hard as Margaret desires. We play in Handon, tomorrow, so the odds are quite against us. Let's prove them wrong.".

Schottia @ Handon (SCH)

-Day 2 featured an extremely difficult challenge as the Vans played the Schottians in Handon. In front of a see of green and white, the Qads fought a hard battle, not giving up for a second. 90 minutes flew by, and Qasden fell just short of a draw, losing to Schottia 1-0. The loss dropped any chance of a perfect campaign, and the Vans plopped down to fourth in the group. Merritt was disappointed, but not upset.

-"We lost. Not a common sight, but hey, we're fresh meat in a tiger pit. I'm proud that the team kept their defenses together. I thought this was gonna be a blowout. Tomorrow, we're in Taxson, a familiar sight for most of the players. Mazurska beat Turori, 2-0, which is scary. Practice makes perfect, and we need lots of practice. We won't die yet, not even if we're 1-13.".

Mazurska @ Merellin Park

-Matchday 3 arrived in Taxson, and the Qads were set to face the Eel-destroying Mazurskans. The match started, and the Qads played expecting a strong adversary. However, Mazurska surprisingly lacked a good defense, and the Qad attackers shot in 3 goals to take the game in Taxson, a pleasing sight for their fans. The win regenerated Qasden's strength in the group, moving them up to 3rd, just behind Schottia and Eshan in goal difference. The coach looked appeased, as if he were Margaret herself.

-"The team played well. 3-1 and the 2nd win at home. I just hope we can keep this up. Our next match isn't gonna be easy whatsoever, especially since it's an away game. Looks like training will need to be risen a couple notches.".

Up Next...

-After a strong performance against Mazurska, the Blue-Reds will be facing the dreaded Turori next. Despite their notorious Cup of Harmony performance, the Eels have been slacking, currently placed 5th out of the 7. A good performance is still needed very much, and a win could very well secure Qasden a good reputation. A draw is the minimal goal for this match, but a loss is possible. Afterwards, a break, and then we come back to Qasden to play Dumnunoiia.

-That's all for this report. Can the Vans stop the Eels like Mazurska did? Or will the region-mates do the completely-thinkable and obliterate the Blue and Red? Only one way to see it, so stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for our next report, straight from the World Cup Qualifiers!

-Am I done? Good. This football talk of us being good is ironic since we sucked in the World Bowl. Wait....is that thing still on?

-Whoops!

Elsa: Well, we need someone to cover my sister's wedding
Chloe: Oh, your sister Anna. I don't see her a lot.

Elsa: Oh, she lives in Quebec these days.
Chloe: You Princesses sure have your genes all over the place
Elsa: Well we're not a fussy lot
Chloe: Never been to a royal wedding
Elsa: Yes, it's first for everything
Chloe: I can't say no

Elsa: Great, it won't be boring.
Chloe: Dallas girls never have boring weddings
Elsa: We're not boring people, well there's always exceptions though
Chloe: You Princesses are far from boring
Elsa: How is one supposed to be infamous if you're gonna be boring
Chloe: I have to do today's show with your Dad

Elsa: Oh yes, him.
Chloe: He's a cheeky bugger
Elsa: You don't have to live with him at least
Chloe: So that's why you look forward to the World Cup
Elsa: Yep
Chloe: He's not completely stupid or dumb

Elsa: I never said he was, he's annoying
Chloe: Actually, so is that brother of yours
Elsa: Oh yes, he is too. But he's never at home so it's not a problem
Chloe: I guess he's just like his dad
Elsa: Like I need a reminder
Chloe: Yes

Elsa: Bit weird this group, we have two of favourites underperforming.
Chloe: Yeah, Cosumar and Bears Armed not doing that well, we're doing alright
Elsa: I guess it's good for us but we can't relax as those other teams are still a threat
Chloe: A lot of draws, competition must be close
Elsa: Yeah, a lot of draws. What's the go? We had one but that was with Cosumar which was a good result.
Chloe: Hopefully we can keep up this and not need to go into a playoff

Elsa: Yes, I really don't want to go into another set of playoffs this time
Chloe: Our playff success rate is a bit ... err
Elsa: Epic fail, well not quite but pretty much
Chloe: It's early days yet, hopefully we can qualify
Elsa: Yes
Chloe: Failure is always an option

Elsa: it's not the option I want.
