Let me echo the other sentiments presented already as far as signups go, potentially keeping signups open until host bidding potentially commences. I would also urge you to add a small section limiting puppet use to one to avoid any past problems occurring again. Also, as said earlier, the Beach Cup has used a variety of scorinators in the forms of Xkoranate and NSFS both using the baseball setup and I believe a custom formula somewhere along the line was also used.

All that said, Mangolana as the third ranked nation and one-time champion will return to the Beach Cup!

Eastfield Lodge's Bid for the Beach Cup XII

Who?

The Imperial Commonwealth of Eastfield Lodge is a large sprawling conglomeration of nations ruled collectively with a population of 17.6 billion, located in a bubble dimension separate to the main dimension in which most sporting nations are located - don't worry, there's a small island in northern Rushmore that is what remains of the original nation, and from which one can easily access the country. What the nation is most famous for is perhaps their international (association) football team, which currently boasts the highest number of failed attempts at qualifying for the World Cup - a grand total of 26 qualification failures in 27 attempts, including a 40 year stretch of 20 World Cup Qualifying cycles without success. However, Eastfield Lodge does have some Beach Cup pedigree - despite never winning the competition, the nation has participated in every Beach Cup barring the original, and are currently the World Number One's after a runner-up finish some years ago in Beach Cup XI, having been in the top 10 since the end of Beach Cup VI.

The nation itself is well suited to hosting such an event, with plenty of great beaches and good stadiums - despite there being no professional organised league in the sport in the Imperial Commonwealth, there are plenty of hotspots where amateur competitions are held, and temporary stadium structures have been used to great effect (locations and stadiums will be listed should I win). There is plenty to do and see in Eastfield Lodge outside of sport as well - by WA Census stats, the nation has consistently been ranked as having the Best Weather and the Most Beautiful Environment in Rushmore and is in the top 50 of the Most Popular Tourist Destinations in the entire multiverse, along with being its 12th Safest nation; the people will be glad to help you should you need assistance, being recognised by the WA for their compassion, nicety and cheerfulness. There is a very small economy, with most private enterprise having massive government stakes - it could be better, to be honest, although most people will only notice if they stay long-term; the tourism industry and related businesses are still booming.

Why?

After a long dearth without hosting any international sports, the Eastfield Lodge Ministry for Sports have decided that to take a bigger dip into the hosting scene, and they see this as an entry point into building up their hosting portfolio. They have previously hosted the 4th Market Cup, a one-off football tournament called the Imperial Commonwealth Soccer Cup and the 2nd Seniors Cup with Toiletdonia, along with providing emergency hosting during the latter stages of Beach Cup 7 after the original hosts Mangolana unexpectedly abandoned it (OOC: they CTE'd).

OOC: The user behind Eastfield Lodge has been participating in NS Sports since 2009, and alongside the above, has completed (nearly) 32 season of domestic football, and as Olastor (a puppet) successfully hosted the 8th International Firestorm Cup. This is very much a chance for me to start building my hosting credentials for the future, because I realised I haven't given this great NS community much back over the last 7 years.

How?

The tournament will be standard group stage followed by straight knockouts. Much of the detail will be up for debate and change if people really object to it however. As it stands we have 20 signups (including Islana Lunigo, Hasznia and Frenline Delpha). I'm willing to let sign-ups roll on until we have a good group number, say 24, 28 (4 groups of 6 or 7) or 32 (8 groups of 4). I would like there to be more than just three group stage games, so if we do have groups of 4, that would be a double round-robin, with the top two advancing; should we have 4 groups, it will be a single round-robin, and I propose that the top three of each group going through, with a bye to the group winners.

Tiebreaker: Points, H2H Pts, H2H GD, GD, Wins, H2H GF, GF

In addition, I propose a return of an old Beach Cup tradition, the return of friendly matches (IC'ly to be held in Eastfield Lodge, unless people object), with one friendly period in the middle of the group stages, and one before the knockouts. There will be a limit of two matches per nation per period, scorinated by myself - players can scorinate additional matches between themselves if they wish to.

Scorination will be done by xkoranate 0.3.3, using the formula used by Free Republics in the last Beach Cup. NSFS style mods will be used, with the full range of -5 (ultra defensive) to +5 (ultra attacking) applicable. RPs will be cumulative and graded with emphasis on quality as opposed to quantity (although a one-liner RP is unlikely to score high regardless) - grading will be awarded on (including, but not limited to): style, control, damage and aggression creativity, usage of the information provided (by either opponents or myself as host - includes a penalty for blatant disregard), entertaining to read, coherence and so on. There will be a separate Roster bonus, non-degrading and with the same max value as one RP. Because I count 11 nations that have currently signed up in the Rankings, I will use them here. However, in the interest of fairness, I will scale the ranks accordingly so that one max grade roster plus one max grade RP will be match the maximum rank (i.e. mine). The pots for the group stage will be determined by the ranks alone.
