HANDBALL—Men’s

It's no Games for the —Men’s Team, placing third narrowly missing out by a 4 point GD to San José Guayabal . The team was disgruntled when they tied with Estogium 29-29. As if they had taken the lead they would have moved up to 2nd place in their pool.

HOCKEY—Men’s

The dream is over for the Murmaids dubbed the Sea Cows. Placing 5th in the pool. Uzekia beat them 9–8 in the last game. A win would not even had enable them to qualify.

Indoor Volleyball, Men's

The dream of attending the Games has ended for this team as they placed last in their pool.

Devlin Carter: "And qualifiers are now over. Overall West Phoenicia has a good success rate. We have progressed through a lot of the sports to reach the Games. Post Olympics the West Phoenicia Olympic Commission will be looking more closely at sports such as Football, Volleyball-Both Beach and Indoor, Water Polo, Rugby and Handball. While we had some teams progress the nation will look at how we can make these sports stronger."

Richard Home: "They will need to look over our Athletics department. As results for our runners and sprinters was average. They may need to wait to see how their Field Counterparts do. But the Athletics department needs more funding to giving athletes better training."

Women's Water Polo Team In More Embarrassment

PROVINSK - The most anticipated match for Ndaku's water polo journey in the Olympic qualifiers finally arrived as Vekaiyu, the home team was to face the women's water polo team of Ndaku Monday night.

Image
Mr. Clément Atta-ur-Rahman Tuesday Morning

According to Provinsk authorities, much of Vekaiyun supporters booed and hissed after the Ndakene anthem played loud and proud. The Ndakenes took to the lead with 5 goals to nil, literally silencing the Vekaiyun stadium of +25,000 people. The Ndakene portion of the stadium was filled with Revolutionary flags flying, lots of green and yellow, and lots of blow horns playing. It was like a miniature international football match, as described by the Ndakene women's water polo coach Rida Mehani.

By the third quarter, the Vekaiyun team took a radical and mind-blowing shift in the match. They began scoring goals, goals out of nowhere. Starting from 1, to 2, to 3, all the way up to 9 goals. What a turnaround! The Ndakene team was left in shock, some were extremely angered; so angered that much of Ndaku's camp left. Those who remained either could not move due to the level of astonishment, or the level of embarrassment was too much to bear. Clearly, the Ndakene team as well as the Ndakene supporters could not handle the atmosphere and the level of opposition being confronted there.

The match concluded at 5-9, an embarrassing Ndakene loss. Not only was the loss embarrassing, but the behavior of some Ndakene supporters as well as Vekaiyun supporters. According to Provinsk law enforcement authorities, during the third quarter, a few Vekaiyun supporters who were placed near by Ndakene supporters began trash talking and ran some inter-species slurs and insults in English. Mrs. Rasheeda Atta-ur-Rahman, along with her son and husband Clément Atta-ur-Rahman were apparently the nearest to these group of hooligans, and Mr. Atta-ur-Rahman responded with hostility, according to Provinsk authorities, allegedly saying "Dévissez avec vos c*nneries nonhumain et cesser de parler comme ça à ma famille et mon peuple! Allez-vous faire f*utre avec votre meude!" (Screw off with your nonhuman bullsh*t and quit talking to my family and my people like that! F*ck off with your wolf packs!)

Unfortunately, the Vekaiyuns who understood the hostile French being spoken by Mr. Atta-ur-Rahman, only added gas to the burning fire by continuing with the hurtful and offensive slurs. Already triggered from the progression of the match, other Ndakenes took charge to give the trash talkers and consequentially other innocent Vekaiyun supporters. Much of this action resulted in fist fights and wrestling in the stands until local authorities were to suppress the violence and hand out the necessary consequences accordingly - by locking all who were involved in the fight in jail for the rest of the night.

After being released from nonhuman solitary confinement, T.I.G initiated a quick interview with Mr. Atta-ur-Rahman and his overall thoughts on what was supposed to be a nice and decent vacation in Vekaiyu with his family. [Translated to English] "I am truly appalled and disgusted with what I heard and what I saw last night from those pesky heathens. Instead, I go to jail for returning the favor I was given. Although this nation is very strange, intriguing, and filled with unusually kind nonhumans, there are still those who I would easily label as Beastkin scum."

Even though Ndaku did not do relatively well in this game, as its anticipation was very high, Team Ndaku still has a lot of qualified athletes able to fly the Revolutionary flag across Aeropag during the Games. Well done, Team!

'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Athletics Qualifiers Wrap-Up

Team in "Good Shape" Ahead of Games

Ferkian Sports Bulletin

(Olympic Tower Stadium, Aeropag) As the last athletics qualifiers wrap-up here in Aeropag the Ferkian team seems well positioned for the start of the Olympics proper, with key athletes advancing in major events.

In the 1500m finals Ken Figueroa and James-Paul Peterson put on a textbook show of teamwork and solid racing tactics. The pair stuck together in the main pack throughout the race before moving up with a well timed surge in the last three hundred meters to finish 3rd and 4th respectively. Separated by only one one-hundredth of a second Figueroa and Peterson easily secured places in the Olympics and finished less than a second away from 2nd place. Advancement from this round was all but a certainty - in the twelve athlete field there were eleven advancing spots. This evident unbalance led many to question the wisdom of running a race to eliminate a sole competitor, the unfortunate Gregory Lindst (VTR).

Figeuroa commented afterwards that "It seems a bit rough, doesn't it? A whole race just to tell one guy he can't go on? Why not push the limit to twelve and advance the whole final, or tighten the limit and make the eliminations mean something to more than just one guy. Just an odd set-up to me."

Adrian Erickson may agree with Figeuroa's idea of expanding the qualifiers to everyone who made the final, as he was the only Ferkian male not to advance in the 5000m. Sadly Erickson's time of 13:26.39 was only good for fifteenth of fifteen in a race where he struggled over the second half. Erickson came through the 3000m mark around eighth place before dropping off the pace over the remaining two kilometers, with each lap getting progressively slower. He revealed post-race that he was suffering from severe side stitches and was simply unable to run any faster. The progressively worsening look of anguish on his face drove home the pain that he was struggling through.

It was a happier race for Quinton Cassidy and Garth Murray, another 3rd and 4th place set of finishes for Ferkian teamwork. The duo ran side by side the whole race, running 13:07.27 and 13:07.99 respectively. While Anatoliy Vassilev (ARO) and Matthias Zeeuw (TLI) were several seconds ahead by the finish, it was clear that the Ferkian duo would easily advance.

Cassidy commented post-race, saying "Our goal was to work as a team and get through together. It sucks that Adrian didn't have it today, but thankfully Garth and I could keep it together. It's just a lot easier running with someone you know and having that mental support there, especially for a race like this. Sure, if there were medals on the line it would be different, but our goal today was just to get through and try to get all of us the shot at the Olympics."

Although the mens 4x100m of D’Ashawn Briggs, Cory Rogers, Orlando Fletcher, and George McBride failed to finish the final they easily advanced to the Olympics after winning their semifinal heat. In the semifinal the team put up a solid 38.29. Unfortunately in the final a botched hand-off between Rogers and Fletcher between the second and third legs resulted in a dropped baton outside of bounds. Post-race the team expressed confidence in their ability to turn things around at the Olympics, with the time in-between to work on refining their exchanges and test out some alternative orderings.

Tyler Gloverfield, Fredie Mendoza, Oliver Haynes, and Dominic Matthews had no such problems in the mens 4x400m. A strong second place semifinal moved them on to the finals, where they cranked a 2:58.27 to finish third. The quartet looks to continue their success as they move ahead to the Olympics.

Having already qualified for the Olympics, the pressure was a bit lower in the final of the womens 800m. Lois Michel excelled regardless, running 1:54.68 to win, besting Ayesha Usaami (ABJ) by almost a full second. Michel came through the bell in third but made a big move coming onto the backstretch and continued powering ahead, quickly opening up a gap. Kristina Harris-Marx ran 1:56.50 meanwhile to finish a comfortable 4th, while Kelley Malone (1:58.56) struggled a little over the last two hundred meters, finish in eighth, about a second back.

In the womens 5000m Ferkas will be represented by Helen Parker-Smith and Judy Clark, who grabbed the 3rd and 9th place spots respectively. Parker-Smith ran an impressive 15:00.91, passing three athletes in a strong last lap. Clark meanwhile coasted in her last lap, comfortably ahead of tenth place and safe from not qualifying. Jennifer Martinez wasn't as lucky. Her 15:44.74 was only good enough for 13th place.

The womens relays were a mixed result. In the 4x100m Laverne King, Genevieve O’Brien, Jody Horton, and May Schwartz put together a 4th place finish with their time of 42.79. Minutes later the 4x400m quartet of Jacuelyn Ruiz, Carolyn Soto, Joanne Gyuan, and Rochelle McCarthy-Pierce were disqualified from the semifinals after a botched hand-off saw the baton change hands outside of the exchange zone. The hand-off may come back to haunt womens relay coach Georgina Martins, who has seen as a questionable choice after her University of Ferkas - Tillsburg Heights coached relay teams struggled with similar issues this year. Most notable was the dropped baton exchange in the final of the Western Conference Championship, which saw the nations leading collegiate relay fail to advance to the national championship. Pressure is likely to grow for the FNAA to reconsider her current team position.

With those results the athletics qualifiers have concluded here in Aeropag and those athletes lucky enough to have advanced will begin to prepare for the upcoming Olympics. While there were some unfortunate surprises for the Ferkian team the events have been seen as largely successful. FNAA president Timothy McCleary commented this morning that "We've seen some excellent performances from our athletes, and for the most part have advanced key members of our team to the next rounds. While we do wish that everyone could move ahead we have to realize that it isn't logistically possible. Also, while it may be easy to complain about our athletes who didn't get through it is important to remember that all teams were effected equally here. The reduced number of competitors should help our advancing athletes as well, reducing the potential for surprises and upsets and narrowing the field to those who performed best."

BASKETBALL—Men’s
Olympic heart: The Golden Boys are in Aeropag

The Olympic Tower, which was shouting against them ended admiring those sporting gladiators. Twelve players who jumped, sang and embraced by an achievement that long ago seemed unlikely, but they reached giving more than expected, showing that they had more than expected. The weight of the scenario, the desire of defend the bronze medal, the uncertainty about what they were able, the obligation of not lose their banner of compromise and sacrifice. All this pressed. And they endured everything. They showed they are really good, that the shirt is not too much for them, that the future is a reality. They learned to love and defend with tooth and nail those colours, to honor the history of the Fluviquean basketball, recent and in the distant history. That celebration with tears belong entirely to them, but glad to hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of compatriots.

The national side excited again. In their most important battle of the tournament, the last matchday, showed their best, prevailed and overcame Taeshan and the roaring fans cheering for them, signed a demolishing 73–56 and qualified for Aeropag 2016, the second Olympic Games for the tricolors. This match will live in the memory of fans who saw it, who suffered and enjoyed and were moved for a new milestone of this representative, one of the most admired and succesful of the last years, in the country of football

On the parquet, fighting as little kids, Victor Lebeau (18 points and 10 rebounds) and Daniel Villa (10 points and 13 rebounds). From the bench, the rest of the squad was cheering. In the distance, but accompanied with messages on social networks, those players who recently retired from the national side were also sending their support. The old generation did not leave the boys alone. They did not gloried in the selfishness of exalting their conquests with subsequent contrasting aridity. They commited to the cause of the national team. They taught to the posterity that, beyond being favored or prejudiced by chance of genetics, there is a way of doing things to maximize the chances of success and minimize defeat. Commitment, responsibility, respect, dedication, collectivism. All for one and one for all.

And the Golden Boys looked, listened, understood, assimilated and acted. On the court and off it, they began to look like experienced players. To give all when the ball is in play and to be responsible when it comes to training, resting, eating, talk to the press. Each with its own style, without be robots. They can have fun with their YouTube channel of Severin Kerr and Simon Van Alst. They can tease each other like Luke Bram, Elwyn Stojan, Leon Vincen, Carl Sevent. Thet can be like Elis Colbert, Vin Gayelord, Daniel Villa, Victor Lebeau, Vin Gayelord, Michel Nedjel. With that mix, toghether, they reached the great goal: be Olympians. Be Olympian the national side, rather than themselves.

They came to Aeropag for this and is already on their hands. Their retias, photos and videos will keep for them that eternal moment of euphoria, won with pure basketball and courageously. There was no podium, no anthem or flag high. That will be the dream for the Olympics. And they have everything to turn those dreams into reality

BASKETBALL—Women’s
More Giants than ever

The day came, the dream was fulfilled. The women's team defeated Judea forcefully by 82–67 and won the coveted ticket to Aeropag. It's amazing to be writing these lines when after the game with Kriegiersien the chagrin flooded us, it seemed that in that match were gone all those hours, those liters of sweat and all the sacrifice that the team and the coaching staff had done, but the game against Vettrera gave us a greatest joy. That victory turn again the pumpkin into a carriage and the trip to the Olympics was more real than ever.

The match against Judea, the only undefeated in the group, was almost a formality, with the only big question was if the team was able to dominate the nerves at such time and from the first minutes it was clear the answer: yes. With the effectiveness of Blythe Dorine and Sonia Solveig and the big soul of Madison Miranda, winning every rebound and fighting in the paint as a lion. In the first half, The Giants made clear that they would not let the Olympic train.

The match was very clear in favor of Fluvique, in defence and attack, they defended every attack with agressivenes and they were more aggresive in the other basket. The more experienced players were the base of a team with a lot of young girls dreaming to be part of the future. And that is very valuable: this team and this coaching staff work for the long term, clearly the aim was Aeropag, but lay the groundwork for return to an Olympic Games in the future is no longer a pipe dream.

Judea tried, but Fluvique was more and the team perfectly took advantage of the open spaces and the gap increased until a difference of fifteen points. In the last five minutes, the match was all set and all we wanted the end of the match to celebrate.

Interestingly the best part came after this, the girls celebrated all together, as the real team they are, and so together, as they were, without going through the locker room, they walked to the outside of the stadium, to celebrate with their relatives and with a handful of Fluviqueans. What humility of the Fluviquean girls to not even get a dry shirt and that sweated white, red and yellow shirt will remain forever tattooed in their bodies. When the girls thanked the teammates who did not travel and to their clubs, we stand and applaud standing. How much dignity, how clearly, without act like stars.

This team changed forever the history of women's basketball, nothing will be the same. The Giants got thousands of fans which, even after a defeat, gave messages of encouragement and appreciation, because the team was able to convey the humility and the ability to work they have to be the trademark of this squad. The story in the Olympics will be different. it will be another feat for this girls. We don't know nothing about the future, but what is sure is that this team wil leave it all, because after all the most important is that white and red shirt sweated forever.

Exclusive Interview With Zitran Star Lewis Gïll

AEROPAG, PARIPANA — From the domestic treble to international glory with both club and country, Lewis Gïll has had one of the greatest seasons of his career. Along with his team titles, the striker scooped the National Soccer League’s Player of the Year Award and three Golden Boot awards. The 24 year old will now represent both his country and Astyria at this year’s Olympics in Aeropag along with a few other familiar Zitran names, and the youngster kindly gave up some of his training time to meet with Adrian Vaïssen and give an exclusive interview for Der Sportsman.

ADRIAN: Let’s jump straight into it, Lewis. You’re well into your pre-season training back at home with Raedburg after a fantastic season, winning the domestic treble as well as the Champions League. How does that feel?

LEWIS: It’s a great feeling! All the boys back at Raedburg trained hard and played their best all season and it’s really payed off. Our main goal before the season started was to get the club’s name on the league Champions League trophies for the second year in a row. To be totally honest, a lot of us weren’t looking to win everything, but Redfield wouldn’t let us put our guard down at all.

ADRIAN: You also won the Regional Cup with Zitru. Was that an unexpected surprise or had you aimed to win that as well?

LEWIS: Winning the Regional Cup was definitely not unexpected. The whole team were outstanding during the tournament and, to tell the truth, I think we deserved to win it.

ADRIAN: The team were given praise for their performance and didn’t lose a game in the tournament. How do you feel about that?

LEWIS: I’m very proud and I think that every player deserves the praise from the media and the fans. There wasn’t one player who didn’t put in 110 percent every game, and a lot of the guys did more than they were asked to which helped us even more. Going unbeaten was an added triumph!

ADRIAN: You also won 3 back to back titles with club and country. What’s the feeling among the players?

LEWIS: Everyone’s buzzing! We’re all extremely pleased that we won everything we wanted to, but it’s even better to know that we won them back to back. A lot of the boys have been having a laugh in the dressing room, chanting about how we’re going to get 3 in a row this season, especially Reuben [Pazhkelazo]!

ADRIAN: You’ve obviously had a fantastic season then, Lewis! Let’s talk about pre-season. Obviously you’ve won the International Football Cup this year, but a lot of fans and some of the media claim that it’s too easy a competition for a club of Raedburg’s size. Is this true?

LEWIS: Pre-season’s going well, and our triumph in the International Football Cup was great considering a lot of the boys are tired and some have picked up little injuries after the Regional Cup. I’ve heard a lot of people saying that the IFC is a poor standard of football, but we see it as a chance for us to test ourselves against some decent opposition. It’s only pre-season and a lot of teams understandably don’t want to risk their star players getting injured before the competitive season begins, but for us it’s just another chance to work on our fitness and play some soccer.

ADRIAN: Let’s move onto the Olympics. You’ve been chosen to represent all of Astyria in a unified team at the games this year in Aeropag, and some people have called the decision to send a unified team “unpatriotic”. What are your views?

LEWIS: I’m really looking forward to taking part in the Olympics this year. I’ve always wanted to represent my country on the international stage and I’m honored to have been chosen. I think an Astyrian unified team is a great idea! It’ll give the players in the team a chance to develop with the help of other players from around Astyria, and I know I can learn a thing or two from some of the guys that have been chosen with me. I don’t know a lot of players on the team but it will be good to compete alongside guys I’ve never played with before!

ADRIAN: Well, good luck to you Lewis, and thanks for your time!

LEWIS: Thank you!

“Goodmorning Serretes! As always, I’m Cedric of Yarmouth here to bring you the latest in Serreten national news. The agenda for today’s program is as follows: First up, Romberg verse the EATA and her sanctions, followed by a bit about how it will affect our joint Olympic team, after that we’ll talk Olympic chances for our athletes, and we’ll wrap things up with some news from around the nation. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Just recently, the king issued one of his first televised statements of his reign. In attendance, there was a handful of journalists from around the region and a few Serreten journalists. Uhtred quickly stated that the Rombergian expansion would not be tolerated under any circumstance.

<Insert sound clips>

“He fielded a few questions, in which he essentially rephrased parts of his statement to answer the question. He did state that Serretes would not, under any circumstance, back down from her sanctions even if her EATA allies did.

The Serreten Olympic Delegation sent nearly a score of athletes to join in the Astyrian Athletic Union’s Olympic Committee. Surprisingly, even with the recent sanctions, relationships between team members are civil. I would have never expected that, especially with such outspoken and fierce men such as Anders of Brandean and Ragnar of Lundholm captaining the team.

Now, what we’ve all been waiting for...Olympic news! That’s right. Nothing much has happened on that front. All of the athletes are on site and geared up into competition mode. We’re working on lining up Ragnar of Lundholm for an interview in the coming weeks so stay tuned. The Men’s Crew team is looking strong in their first season as a team. If you haven’t heard, the entire team was taken from a single whaling ship from the island village of Brandholm. The coxswain was also found in that village. As far as already trained athletes go, there is no one better. The men are naturals, that much is for sure. In other exciting news, the first Serreten female athletes have qualified for a games. They’ll be participating in women’s badminton doubles. I’m excited to say the least...

...That’s all for now, tune back in after the commercial break for more.”

Beograd Journal Letter To Editor
The Heat of the Moment

I never thought that I'd be responsible for an Olympiad sensation's rise to fame. I am just a police officer for a rough section of New Beograd. But here I am witnessing the rise of an athlete who may have never been found if it wasn't for him passing by my radar gun looking for speeders. It's kind of an amazing how small things can lead to unintended consequences, but this is what I am witnessing before my very eyes. Go Helio! I'm your biggest supporter.

Officer Predrag Dusic

The Serbian Sporting News
Helio de Cunha Sets National Record

Helio ran like the wind, and only within 0.02 of the world record. His blistering 9.69 second 100m time has turned him into a favorite for the Olympiad Gold despite his obscurity entering this time a week ago. Nobody knows if the numbers will translate in Aeropag or not, but his story has captivated a nation. Helio now believes that he can reach an even 9.60 second 100m run as he didn't even feel like he was putting in full effort. If that is the case, we might have a gold medalist in the making. It's hard to think he was effectively a refugee from a distant land not even two years ago who was discovered by a police radar gun. Now he's become the pride of two nations, but runs for the Serbian Empire.

Kozel Qualifies for Olympiad

Lara Kozel is another one of the Gold Token winners and Olympiad qualifiers. A Slovene from the far western part of the Empire in the town of Piran. The town is more famous for being the first city to elect a black mayor within the Serbian Empire in Peter Bossman. However, Kozel due to her 4:00.01 time has probably surpassed the physician turned mayor from Ghana in fame. However, both will always be in the record books for their vital aspects to history for the municipality of 17,000 people.

The Olympic Blog of Fr. Vasily the Heavily Accented

Hello fellow monastic sporting fans. It is being time for another Olympics, and I am here to be telling you of all important news, where greatest anti-Orthodox conspiracies are taking place, and - when is appropriate - what IS OUTRAGE.

But first of all, you are thinking that Olympics have not started yet - and it is here that you are being wrong. This Olympics there is something called 'qualification' that has already been taking place.

How to describe 'qualification'?

On one level it is glorious opportunity to display monastic humility by elimination from games before they even begin. I am sure you are agreeing that this is greatest development in history of international sport. Risk of winning medals and bringing undue attention on monk who is inexplicably trying to do best is suddenly removed!

Let us look at some of monastic athletes that have been taking advantage of this glorious opportunity to fail before games even begin:

Fr. Macarius of the Middle Distance was first athlete eliminated in this way, finishing commendable 5 seconds out of qualifying spots in 1500 metres running event. Later he is also eliminated from 800 metres running, becoming first monastic athlete eliminated from two separate events.

He is soon being joined by Fr. Jacob the Willing, finishing second from last in heat of 10000 metres running event.

Then Fr. Hermippus the Other Hurdler is managing to finish outside qualifiers in heat event where more than half of runners in 400 metre hurdles are going through! This is glorious moment for monastic sport.

Fr. Hilarion the Kind almost is breaking proud record in normal 400 metre running, but last minute stumble sees him eliminated by just two tenths of second; that is producing a 'phew' from many.

Next Fr. Hermolaus the Hurdler is doing of us proud by finishing total last in 110 metres hurdling heat. Truly he has cast aside vainglory of normal world.

But not all qualifiers are ending in elimination. What is best way to describe these events? They are like steps on Ladder of Saint John Climacus, where each successful step is bringing monk closer to highest state of monastic perfection and union with God - or in this case participation in Olympics proper. I am thinking this is not quite same thing, and that analogy is being slightly blasphemous, but I am hoping that it will help explain these steps to confused monk who is not knowing qualification.

Take, for example, 3000 metre steeplechase - traditional Archregimancy strength, with Olympic record still held by famous monastic athlete Fr. Athanasius the Leaper. Here Fr. Sava the Silent, Fr. Moses the Sturdy, and Fr. Hermocrates the Strong are all in first two of initial heats. All three then go through in semi-finals. But then in final qualifier, Fr. Sava is falling at final hurdle. No, this is not joke; this is being literally true. He is soon picking himself up to complete course, like brave monk he is, but he is not joining Fr. Moses and Fr. Hermocrates in Olympics proper. So he has failed to achieve final step of ladder of qualification.

Is this making sense now?

But is not all straightforward. Fr. Polycarp the Sprinter is third in first 100m heat, and in top 10 of qualifiers. Then he is finishing fourth in semi-final, and is eliminated. But no! Is something called 'fastest loser', and is still making it through to Olympics proper; this qualification is confusing - you can lose and still go through. Is this perhaps first sign of anti-Orthodox conspiracy?

Then he is winning his first 200m heat, again finishing in event top 10. Sense is restored when he is well and truly eliminated in semi-final; this time there is being no confusing losing but still going through, which is relief. He is completely eliminated. I am not understanding this 'fastest loser', but in 100 metres he is 'fastest loser' and in 200 metres he is not 'fastest loser' so he climbs ladder of qualification in one event and not other.

And there is also handball event. I am finding handball confusing. It is like indoor version of football, but with hands. I am not sure how this is working. First they are beating Swibia. Then they are beating Amnarei-asud, nation that I have never, ever been hearing of before. Then they are losing to Ethane. Then there is draw against table toppers Mattijana. Despite winning record, they are not going through to Olympics due to points difference. Hey-ho, this is much like football after all; no doubt members of former Archregimancy football team could be offering handball monks sympathy.

Long and short of it is that nine of monastic entries are eliminated from competition before Olympics even begin. Whatever the confusing thing with 'fastest loser' is being, I am sure we are agreeing that - unlike theological innovation - this is innovation that is being good thing.

OLYMPIANS SET UP FOR NAKED DISASTER

The failure of the Kelssek Olympic Committee (KOC) and other so-called 'experts' to announce an official uniform could result in Kelssek's athletes marching out naked during the opening ceremonies in Aeropag, warn several people playing some kind of monster-catching game outside the University of Kirkenes chemical engineering department.

Many countries have held attractive fashion shows with scantily-clad models to promote their athlete uniforms. There has already been concern that Dunnes's jackets could induce seizures among the television audience, and North Eurasia getting rave reviews for their "dudebro chic" designs and eco-friendly recycling of unwanted bedsheets, even as West Pheonicia's female athletes provoked security concerns that their footwear could be used as part of a plot to murder competitors at the opening ceremony.

However, the notable silence from Kelssek suggests that there will in fact be no uniform at all, leaving our fittest and most attractive young people to trot out nude in front of a global audience.

"That would be a bold statement of our cultural values," said one expert, who is not to be trusted because they can't even get the weather right and are engaged in economic scare tactics, associated with their dark cabal of elites out of touch with the common working man who has been left behind by globalization.

Many are exploring emergency measures to ensure that this situation will not come to pass, however. Possible solutions include burqas, a traditional garment that covers the entire body and is often available in pleasing shades of blue and/or red. Area resident Jim Jones however warns that this could lead to religious law being implemented in our schools and a dark cover-up by pedophile priests.

Jones continued by asserting that "the liberal uncontrolled mass immigration agenda" is to blame for this potential disaster and that the KOC should have its funding cut for this debacle. "We send millions to the Kelssek Olympic Committee every week. Let's spend it on nuclear weapons instead."

"It's two in the fucking morning you goddamn imbecile," said a spokesperson from the Kelssek Olympic Committee when asked for comment.

A balding old man was sitting at a news desk in the RSFBC Studio. Across the desk read "The Gates Factor" and at the bottom of the screen the RSFBC news ticker rolled as usual, but this was not any usual episode of The Gates Factor.

Seth Gates - Hello and thank you for watching us tonight. Welcome to The Gates Factor. I am Seth Gates and here are your Daily Talking Points.

A Daily Talking Points logo flashed on the screen as Seth Gates launched into his daily tirade.

Seth Gates - Today, the Aeropag Olympic Organizing Committee issued a threat to disqualify our teams because, they say, our rosters are too big. This is absolutely preposterous. I should point out that these roster restrictions have not been in place at previous editions of the Olympic Games, including the Greatest Edition of the Winter Olympics which was held in Baseton. Furthermore, the organizers of the Olympics accepted our Federation's entries knowing full well that we intended to send a large delegation befitting of a nation as Great as ours. These restrictions appear to have been put in place solely to hamper the performance of nations that have a deep talent pool and therefore we at the Factor deem them to be socialistic in nature and utterly unacceptable. As you know, there are no roster limits at other international sporting events nor have there been limits on team sizes at any recent edition of the Olympics. Therefore, we urge Consul O'Reilly to refuse to honor this absurd demand and to respond with military force should any of our athletes be disqualified for this or any other dubious reason. This has been your Daily Talking Points. Now, I want to introduce our guest for tonight, Consul O'Reilly!

Consul O'Reilly entered the studio as giant golden letters lit up in the background spelling out "O'Reilly" and quickly took his seat next to Mr. Gates.

Seth Gates - Your Consulship, thank you for joining us tonight. I wish we could discuss how the Free Republics is freer, more prosperous, and Greater than ever before now that all of the illegal aliens that were raping our women and murdering our children have been expelled and you've got all of the trains running on time, but unfortunately there's this little problem with the Olympics. What are you going to do about that?

Consul Kaleb O'Reilly - Seth, the Paripanans are jealous of our Greatness. I mean, just look at how much Greater we have become since I was elected your Consul 3 short years ago. We're the envy of the multiverse and we only let the best people into our Federation. We don't have to tolerate foreign scum any longer and I've expelled all of the inferior races who were corrupting our Republican Master Race. Believe me. I'm Making the Free Republics Great Again and I'm doing that by Making the Free Republics White Again, by Making Republican Men Men Again and by Making Republican Women Women Again. The Olympics are run by very incompetent people. Believe me. But I'm not going to take it out on them.

Seth Gates - Why not?

Consul Kaleb O'Reilly - Well, you see, I never said I was going to let them get away with pushing us around or threatening to be unfair toward our glorious athletes, all of whom have now "qualified" for the Olympics despite outrageously being denied automatic qualification. Believe me. We're going to win every single gold medal at this Olympics because our athletes are Great and Great athletes win gold medals. Believe me. And our entire team will participate in the Olympics. Believe Me.

Seth Gates - That's exactly what the Republican People wanted to hear.

Consul Kaleb O'Reilly - Don't I always tell the Republican People what they want to hear? That's why Republica is so Great these days. Believe me. The goofy Paripanas say that we can't enter as many athletes as we want on our teams. Sad. But if they try to enforce that, I'm going to launch a few nuclear missiles their way and wipe a bunch of foreign scum off the face of the multiverse. Believe me.

Seth Gates - What do you say to those who argue that you can't just launch a nuclear first strike?

Consul Kaleb O'Reilly - If we have the weapons, why shouldn't we use them when appropriate? And if there's ever a time when its appropriate, its when we can wipe out a large number of inferiors all at once. Believe me. All of the best foreign policy experts recommend this course of action, so that's exactly what I'm going to do if the Paripanans cross me.

Seth Gates - Well, I can't say that they wouldn't deserve it...

The interview continued, but increasingly moved toward boring domestic topics...

To: Derek Wright, Chairman, Paripana Sporting Council
From: Kaleb O'Reilly, Consul, Free Republics
Subject: Important Matters Regarding the Games of the XI Olympiad
Encryption: Highest

Mr. Wright,

I wish to inform you that any threats that I may have made on my domestic television networks are completely false. Please see my amended rosters, wherein quite a few of my athletes have been re-classified as potential replacements in case of injury so as to bring my teams under your idiotic quotas. However, I insist that all of my athletes, including those that were eliminated during qualifying and those that are registered as injury replacements be permitted to march in the opening ceremony. Should you attempt to interfere with the participation of any of my athletes in the Opening Ceremony or object to my choice of attire for my athletes, then I will regard that as reneging on our deal and will respond by withdrawing all of my athletes from the Olympic Games immediately. Believe me.

Sincerely,

Consul O'Reilly

OUR BEST CHANCES FOR GOLD

A break down of the medal contenders

Men’s 1500m Run

Dunnes’ maquee event. Fielding quite possibly the best distance team in the games, the men’s 1500m squad is stacked. Orean Bronze Medalist over 800m, Will Drinkwater leads the charge after winning the qualifying event in Neverend. He is joined by 7x University Champion Bennett Gagnon, and 5000m Olympic Trials champion Robert Franklin.
At the Olympic Qualifier in Neverend, this trio went one-two-four, and looks to do something similar once in the Olympic Stadium in Aeropag.
“It’s nice to have guys around you who can compete.” Drinkwater said. “It brings your intensity up.”
The top three Dunian runners over the distance all time, the 1500m will provide fireworks on the track.
“It’s the perfect event.” remarked Olympic Head Coach Ray Appenheimer. “It’s long enough to have drama, short enough to keep peoples attention; Athletically its long enough to require endurance, short enough to require speed.”
“We will get a medal in the 15[00m].” said Neverend Grand Prix runner up Bennett Gagnon.
“That’s all you need to know.”

Women's Triathlon

Jocelyn Vides, the World Championships bronze medalist, and Emmy-Kate Dustin, the U23 World Champion, lead a team, who, like the men have had the podium in view all season.
“The U-23 win gave me confidence into Aeropag. I know I’ve got the skills to take home a medal.” said Dustin, of her dominating win in the U23 event in Mirola.
The veteran Vides, knows she has the experience to win in Aeropag as well. “I know we have the training, now it’s just putting it into practice.”
Hopefully she has been practicing medal wearing as well.

Men’s Water Polo

The Dunian men’s squad dominated qualifying, winning all three of their matches dominantly. Led by their captain and leading goal scorer through qualifying, Duncan Mactavish, the Green Marlins, as they’re affectionately known as, strive to be on the podium.
“It’s been our goal for quite some time now.” said coach Steve Granick. “We want to show ourselves against the world. We want to win.”
Duncan Mactavish sited the strength of the domestic league, as why he thinks Dunnes can put in a run into the tournament.
“We have such a great league. I think thats the difference now. We don't just compete against good competition when we leave Dunnes, we have it in our backyard now.” said the team captain.
Regardless of how they get there, the Dunnes Water Polo team should provide serious fans and casual surveyors of the sport with a healthy dose of excitement once the games begin.

Men’s Triathlon

After Mirola hosted the World Triathlon Championships last month, Dunnes has had faith that they will win the gold in Aeropag due to one man: Duncan Reid. The defending World Champion, Reid looks to be able to double up in the XI Games.
“I’m really looking forward to racing the Olympics. This has been the goal of mine for a while, and I’m looking forward to toeing the line.” said Reid.
The world champion beat out Zeke Uriz in the final kilometer of Worlds using a decisive final kick. He looks to use that extra burst of energy at these championships as well.
Reid will be joined by Zane Grenoble, an upstart racer who had a disappointing race in Mirola, and Alec Maineville, the bronze medalist at the junior championships in Mirola.

Men’s Marathlon

In the games’ marquee event, Dan Reid looks to put Dunnes on an even greater stage.
“The Olympics are the worlds biggest sporting event, and all of the days of competition all lead up to the marathon.” said Reid.
“All of my life, for as long as I can remember the Marathon has been my goal. Not just competing but winning.”
But for Reid, it’s not just a far fetched dream anymore, but a reasonable goal.
After finishing second at the Neverend Grand Prix 10000m he knows he has the late race speed.
“My training is telling me that I’ve got the endurance too.” Reid said.
Neverend was his first race since coming down from altitude in Alta, and it’s showed.
“He doesn't look like it pains him to run like it used to.” Head track coach, and Reid’s personal coach Ray Appenheimer said at a press conference in Neverend. “He’s gonna win.”

Women’s 800m Run

All of the Dunian track and field athletes knew it would be tough for them to get three athletes to the games proper with the new qualification system, but the women passed expectations with flying colors. The breakout star of the Neverend Grand Prix for the women’s side was Madison Babros, who set a new national record when she won the meet in the 800m.
“Big boost of confidence for me for sure.” said Babros.
However, all three athletes feel primed for Aeropag.
“We’ve all got a shot, and we’re realistically medal favorites.” said Madeja, the record holder before the final in Neverend.
That record most likely won’t last long in Aeropag.

Men’s Mountain Bike

Sean McElroy and Christian Husband have been the kings of Dunnes mountain biking for many years now, but will finally get a chance to debut in a major championship. McElroy will also be competing in the men’s BMX race, showing his versatility on the bike.
“I’ve been riding since I was two.” said McElroy. “It runs through my veins, especially on the mountain bike, where the riding is technical.”
While the duo share the title of the best mountain bike rider in Dunnes, their skill sets very exponentially.
“I love the hills and love the true mountain biking courses.” said Husband. “Just love the courses with none of the technical stuff.”
“I like the difficult courses, the races that really make you think.” remarked McElroy.
The country will find out which will triumph on the last day of the games in Aeropag when the Men’s Mountain Bike competition takes place.

Men’s Golf

A new event for Aeropag, the Dunnes men’s golf team is glad to compete against some international competition.
“It’s nice to see some new faces.” says Nick Robinson, three times the winner of the Dunnes Tour.
The Dunian golfers are also excited that after the Olympics, the Dunnes Tour will open to foreigners. “It’s a big deal.” said Golding. “We’ve got some of the nicest, greatest golf courses, we ought to share them with some others.” said Golding.
They still have gold on their mind though. “The course really suits me.” said Robinson. Time will tell whether gold suits him as well.

Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay

One of the highlights of the Swimming program, the 4x200m relay may be Dunnes best bet for a swimming medal these games.
“We’ve got a strong squad, we’ve really meshed together well.” said Joe Rhodes.
It’s going to take more than mesh to see the flag fly above the medal stand however.
“We’re underdogs. I get that. But we’re gonna use that energy to come up on top these games.” said anchor Will Able. “I think it’s gonna take the race of our lives from each and everyone of us, but if thats ever gonna happen, it’s gonna be at the Olympic Games.

Women's Artistic Gymnastics

A program Dunnes has vamped up in recent years, the Dunnes Gymnasts, come in to Aeropag with a bit of pressure, and with some edginess.
“We had an interesting trials.” said Tatum Contes.
That’s to say the least.
After botched scoring, numerous changes in the selection criteria, the gymnasts of Dunnes should be on edge. “We’re gonna use that edge that we have right now.” said Contes.
And while medals might not be a sure thing for the gymnasts, drama should be.

Olympic Village, Aeropag :: Vilitan Union Footsport arrives in Aeropag, prepares for Olympic Competition

Image

The Vilitan Union got the ultimate support from its Senior Included Exempt players over two legs against Eastfield Lodge to leave the Rushmori nation on the outside looking in once again in major international footsport competition and ensure that the team comprised of representatives from Vilita, Turori and Tropicorp would itself be represented at the Olympic Football Tournament.

After squeezing by Swibia in the first round the Vilitan side left little to chance when they opened their Round 2 fixture against Eastfield Lodge with a bang. First half goals from prospect forward Sipke Tarala and exemption invluded midfielder Purapal Eskiiy put the Union ahead although Eastfield Lodge did claw one back by the half time break.

The second half was an even affair with both sides trading goals - the ageless Nili Ylimaiina in form for the Vilitan Union before young defensive midfielder Jurzen Devmiko put the icing on the cake for the Vilitans.

With a two-goal advantage heading into the second leg, the Vilitan Union was certainly content to play a slow game and defend their lead which they did for over an hour until Ylimaiina once again was on target. The former Arcticala Inlet trainee landed an exquisite volley 15 yards from goal to hand Eastfield Lodge their exit orders and punch the Vilitan Unions ticket to the Olympic Group phase. Turorian goalkeeper Wiyauw An'maude was in net for the Vilitan Union in both matches.

In addition to the men, the Vilitan Union women's side also survived with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Judea. The Women's reward for advancing will be a tough Group draw against the forever in-form Elves of Valanora and Vangaziland - with Ethane the only participant in Group D of the Women's Draw not representing a nation or entry starting with the letter 'V'. It is believed to be the first time that Three nations starting with the letter 'V' have been drawn together in a Women's Football competition Group Stage.

For the men, the task will be even more difficult as they will be tasked with the opening match of the Olympic Football Tournament at the Olympic Tower Stadium in Aeropag against the host nation and the Paripana Sporting Council. They will be joined by fellow Atlantian Oceania's Thatius as well as the unaffiliated entry of Abaja who took down Drawkland and Llanrhyddid en route to qualifying for the group stage.

Officially, Kasper Christensen, Filip Hedlund and Jordan Burke were registered as coaches for various Republican teams, but in actuality they were part of the Republican Intelligence Agency (RIA), awaiting orders. Many other Republican "athletes" and "coaches" were actually just agents of the RIA or their rivals the Federal Protection Agency (FPA) and the Unified Security Service (USS). Others were merely private employees of the O'Reilly Organization, either within the Greatness Corps or acting individually. But no matter which organization they were affiliated with, everybody affiliated with Republican law enforcement and Republican intelligence was heavily vetted for loyalty to the FFR and to Consul O'Reilly.

The Republicans had entered the Olympic Games for two reasons: first to showcase Republican Exceptionalism to their own people and secondly to enable their government to covertly carry out intelligence operations to strengthen the Republican position in the multiverse. The blatant hostility directed at them by the Olympic organizing committee had not been expected, but had already led to reconsideration of their decision to enter their new Greater Republica Soccer League into UICA, which was also run by Paripanans, a people who had now proven their willingness to pull bait and switch after bait and switch with the Olympics. Had Republican authorities known about their plans to introduce "qualifying" or their plans to introduce roster size limits for team sports, which no other tournament in the multiverse had ever, to their knowledge, used, they wouldn't have entered the Olympics. But they had entered and that was that.

The first order had come down a few days prior. The intelligence agents were to gather as much information as possible about Aeropag and the rest of Paripana just in case Consul O'Reilly ever decided to invade them. Unfortunately, that wasn't exactly practical at this moment as Atlantian Oceania was simply too far away from Greater Republica for an invasion to be feasible. Nuking them during the Olympics had been discussed as a possible contingency, but had been ruled out because the FFR lacked the capacity to wage war simultaneously against the hundred or so nations that had entered the Olympics and whatever other nations joined the war effort out of misguided outrage. Some of the nations involved were themselves nuclear powers and Consul O'Reilly's generals did not believe that the nation's missile defense could handle the massive onslaught of nukes that would be coming their way.

Instructions had come down to Republican athletes around the same time, requesting that they play as rough as possible and try to injure as much foreign scum as possible. They were assured that their actual finishing positions did not matter, as the footage broadcast on television would show them winning medals regardless. The one exception to the order to purposely play rough involved athletes from East Saintland, a vital Greater Republica Prosperity Sphere (GRPS) ally. However, the Republicans were on the lookout for other nations that were interested in aligning with them. (OOC: If you want your nation or elements within your nation to be aligned with the FFR, get ahold of me via TG or just start RPing your nation seeking out an alliance with mine and it'll happen.)

Certain elements within Vakolicci society had gotten in touch with Republican authorities requesting a mutually beneficial arrangement. They insisted upon meeting within the Haven, so Kasper Christensen, Filip Hedlund and Jordan Burke were dispatched to the meeting along with Georgius Catiotus, an aide to King Andreas of East Saintland (officially known as the Holy Kingdom of Saintland or HKS, not to be confused with the Kingdom of Saintland, better known as West Saintland). The three Republican representatives and the East Sanctii soccer player boarded a top-secret O'Reilly Airlines flight from Paripana to the Greater Vakolicci Haven for a secret meeting...

Meanwhile, King Petrus of West Saintland (officially the Kingdom of Saintland or KoS), received a request from a different Vakolicci group to meet in the Haven to discuss important matters of state. King Petrus was reluctant to authorize the meeting at first, but eventually he decided to send Andreas Fadius, Leva Fadius and Prince Ioannes to the GVH on his behalf. The King was busy tending to his wife, Queen Veronica, who was expecting to deliver their second child within the coming days. The King was currently too busy praying day and night for a son to secure the legitimate succession for his throne to worry about foreign policy at the moment. Prime Minister Andreas Tuccius and Deputy Prime Minister Censorina Polus quickly signed off on the meeting, but Censorina chose to attend herself as the fourth West Sanctii representative. The four of them boarded a Royal Air flight to Celeria to meet officials from the Celerian government and other Vakolicci dignitaries...

Farewell to the Olympic delegation at the White Castle.

More than 220 Fluviqueans athletes, which will participate in the upcoming Olympic Games in Aeropag, were guests at the White Castle, where Her Majesty, the Queen Eugenie, delivered the National flag to Eva Leilah, the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. The board of the Fluviquean Olympic Commitee, the Prime Minister of Fluvique and the Minister of Sport were also present.

The ceremony included a banquet in the Hall of Mirrors, with athletes, staff and personalities mixed and seated together. There, Kevin Arriola, Minister of Sport, gave his best wishes to all the athletes pointing out that "All of you should be proud, after years of work training and effort, have the opportunity to represent the Kingdom in the most important event in the multiverse. It's something unique and we will be together with you".

August Moine, the Prime Minister of Fluvique, also gave a brief speech, saying that "It's time to compete with all our energies. You should represent our nation with all the corresponding dose of joy. Sometimes you win, and sometimes not, but the most important is give all trying to achieve a dream" and later she added: "Enjoy every moment and understand where you are, in a privileged position of the sports' elite, a multiverse celebration. I wish the best to everybody"

Among those present at White Castle were members of the men's and women's basketball team, the Panthers, the Young Lions, boxers, tennis players, and the under-23 version of the White Foxes. After many hesitations, finally the football squad reached the necessary 18 players to compete in the qualifiers, after the resignations of Sam Gonza, Paul Di Angello and FEDE. Ricardo Carusso, interim, said that: "we are more underdogs than ever. The group is very hard, but these boys are glory hungry and they will fight properly". Other guest were from the Cabinet: the Minister of Education, Fredric Woods and Abel Géroux and Barbara Martínez, ministers of La Francophonie and La Hispanidad, respectively.

After the banquet, the Olympic delegation moved to the Throne Room, to participate in the oficial photoshot, with the Queen. The athletes and Her Majesty were holding a tricolor flag, widest than the entire room and which will be put in the balconies of the Olympic Village. The flag, on its white stripe, has the phrase: "Many teams. Many dreams. A country".

Eva Leiah, the flag bearer and captain of The Panthers, received the national emblem directly from the hands of the Queen. 'It was surreal' - said Eva after the event- 'She is the most important person in the country, but for his age she could be my little sister. We even took many selfies. Its hard to believe', says Eva with a giant smile. And, after the question if she can compare it with another milestone in her sporting history, she finds nothing to measure it: "There is no comparison, is different, is something else, is not a sporting achievement, although it is obviously driven by the sporting achievements I could have before, the Fluviquean flag is much more than field hockey" said one the best female playes in the history, in front of the Kingdom's throne.

It was not generally seen as a normal thing to aline yourself with the greater Vakolicci Haven. The vast superstate, stretching over 3 regions and containing over 14 billion people, was known for several things that many other states were not generally fond of. Things like slavery. The funding of terrorism. A casual disregard for the laws of fellow nations. Many people regarded the Haven as a state which was better left alone...unless it had something the other state really wanted.
Such things as money...oil...military power...slaves...ports where questions would not be asked. The Haven was a huge trading empire: though few would admit it, it had many friends.

Liam O'Clane was looking forward to this meeting. He knew two of the west Sanctii representatives, and he was pretty sure he could make an impact with the whole group. The deputy foreign minister, schkorpaller from the Western Islands, long-time advocate against slavery, and nephew of the President was a powerful man in the haven. He represented it's more liberal wings: ready to depart from tradditions and do what he called 'accepting reality.' This included believing things like that the Haven was not created by the Gods to be the masters of the world. Or that, in some forgotten part of history, they had lost the world and must somehow fight to reclaim it. This was not true...everyone knew that, but they'd still happily spout it.

The delegation that he led had decided to meet the west Sanctii representatives at the airport, and was built like most other delegations from the Haven ever were. A political leader in the middle...that was him. To his left strode the proud, slightly aging figure of Daniel Zucrini, a major-general representing the Havenic military. On his right-hand side was the cold and rather intimidating presence of Alyana Della Barecci, a woman who would probably claim superiority over Liam. She was young, only a year older than him, however she had her experience was well-known. The Havenic minister for trade already, she had developed a reputation for driving hard bargains and for smashing through little quaint foreign things like tax codes as if they didn't exist.

They met the delegation at the airport practically right off the plane, with Liam giving Andreas and Leva a nod of recognition.
"Good afternoon," he said, advancing from the delegation. "My name is Liam O'clane, deputy secretary of state for foreign relations," he told them before introducing the rest of the delegates. "If you'd like to follow me, a car is waiting."

Their were other parts of the Haven which were less readily spoken about, generally towards the east. These parts did not love free and fair elections quite as much as the rest of it...they did notteven believe that the right to protest was integral to a perfect society. They believed in things like getting the job done without needless arguments, the continuence of Havenic 'unification,' and generally attempting to make a few of them as wealthy as possible.

Sola Delbrathin was the leader of one such province; her title was currently disputed: she called herself the president, the Haven called her the governor. Whatever the tiitle though, she was currently sat in a flower garden with two similarly-chosen delegates awaiting visitors from Republica. On the contrary to her 'close allies and friends' in the rest of the Haven, however, she'd sent a car rather than going in person.

((OOC: sorry, not as good as it could be, I'm rushing.))

The Olympics can start, but the loses for Kriegiersien were the worst since the Zombiecalypse.

Qualification:
From all teams only Basketball (Woman), Handball (Men) and both Volleyball and Rugby teams qualified. The womens rugby team even won the tournament and confirmed their status as title defender and favorite.
But the Beach Volleyball teams completly missed the Olympics, as did the Football teams. Especially the Water Polo team around Star Anita Waterfall was disappointed. "Vekaiyu. Why had it be so far away? We are travelling around half the globe", sweared one of the younger players who had just ended school with an F in Geography a week before.

Atlanta Johnson had a great start in the 200 m with the second best time. But in the semifinals her plan to win the Neverand Grand Prix was crushed. Even worse, she even missed the qualification for the Olympics. Hit by a flue while stretching and later by a flu while waiting in the rain, she barely qualified for the 100 m later.
"I hope I am fit in Aeropag. At least I only have to concentrate on the 100 m now", she said, adding a mumbled "Damned Liventian .. weather."

The Rest:
Meanwhile the remaining remains of the Kriegiersien Olympians have arrived in Aeropag directly from Kriegiersien.

The IOC had rejected all Zombiebots because of "titles" or "Numbers", so that around half of all participants broke away. "Why are the numbertitled Slaves of Gregoryisgodistan are allowed? This is a fraud", grumbled Zombiespokesman Lord Hubert Halfrotten III. At the end nearly all Kriegiesien Monsters solidary resigned.

The weightlifters had to start in new weightclasses. In the end, no one wanted to gain or lose weight to fit the requirements and the whole association quit.
The Ponies, also no humans, are still competing in the Equestrian event.
"We want to show the world our friendly long face and have fun", said Daisy Sprinkles.
"And win gooold!", added Rough Hooves.
The table tennis team had to replace some players for the team event.
"We weren't able to bring proper replacements, so we had to forfeit all these places because of this racism", explained an angry Vladimir Doping, the new head of mission. "The new qualification events also gave us a hard time, as we couldn't prepare properly. And the costs to travel to the other nations. As Osiris champions in every sport, we should have gotten a direct spot. It's a shame what they did to us. Now the rest of the Athletes have to fight even harder."

The biggest name is three times Olympic Heavyweight Boxing Champion, title defender and unbeaten legend Brie von Zart, who has not been seen outside Kriegiersien since the last Olympics and has only one goal: Winning gold again.

Mattijana finally submits roster after admin nightmare

Mattijana has finally submitted its teamsheets for the main team sports at the Summer Olympics in Aeropag after a series of administrative errors left them nameless for the first two matchdays. Sports minister Julian Petrov, himself away from Petrovijanka watching the qualifying events, said that the mess was down to a "busy sporting schedule" and "organisation ranging from poor to non-existent."

In fact, it turns out that the mess was partly down to, well, mess. The paperwork for the Aeropag teamsheets was buried under mounds of less important paperwork and was forgotton about until after matchday one when it was realised that no-one knew who had done anything. The papers were found, hurriedly completed and submitted, but not in time for the matchday 2 cutoff time. The issue was finally resolved shortly after the second round of matches when a roster finally popped up in the official designated area.

Petrov admitted his secretarial team had had "a bit of a shocker", but said that things should return to normal and may even improve after the games, particularly with the introduction of more modern paper sorting machinery and an accessible database that will take place. He also said that Mattijanan athletes had not been affected by the delay unless you counted the fact that they missed out on the glory of scoring as no-one knew who they actually were.

Damage Limited in Qualification

It was soon discovered that some of those teamsheets will no longer be required. Both football teams will return home early, but at a conveniant time for the Campionata Esportiva also running now. Both basketball teams were also predictably (we actually predicted it) eliminated, although the women's team managed to worry us when they won their first match against the Serbian Empire.

However, most athletes expected to go through to compete in the games will go through. The only real shock was Nikita Menničella failing to qualify for the 5000 metres. This was more than made up for with the surprise victory (and practice) gold for Mattias Riesling in the men's 100 metres which bodes very well for the games.

Most importantly, both Hockey teams qualified comfortably for the games with the men winning all 3 group matches and the women overcoming a first round defeat to Wray with three straight wins to finish second in the group on head-to-head rankings.

Following, the slightly ropey start, Mattijana is now fully prepared for the games.
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.

West Phoenician National Anthem divides nation!

Controversy has struck the West Phoenician Olympic Team again. This time over the choice of National Anthem.
Since the birth of West Phoenicia in 1586 the song held dear was " West Phoenicia in our hearts forever.

In 2010 after a civil war within the Royal family, over line of succession rights Glenton Bush II Philometar, ascended to the throne after a peace treaty was declared with his two eldest half-sisters who had contested his chance of claiming the throne.

Upon his coronation a new national anthem was created Praise to our Leader a song that had great support by 3/4 of the Noble houses and 50.1% of the population.

Many traditionalists, socialists and older conservatives feel moving into our debut Olympic Games the original song should be restored as it brings about feelings of unity. Unity among rich and poor.

While Neo-conservatives, nationalists, the younger generation and monarchists feel the times have now changed and "Praise to our leader" should be the acceptable anthem.

We took to the streets to ask West Phoenicians what they think:

Agnes Goodwife: "I am 70 years old. Most of my life i have proudly sung West Phoenicia in our hearts forever. I feel we need to engage the sporting world with this song."

Mr Montgomery Green: It's 2016 not 1586 we need to get with the times. King Glenton Bush II unified our nation after years of civil wars. He is owed that respect. We need to show the world yes we support our athletes but they wouldn't be at the Olympics without funding supported by the King.

Anarchist Adam: National pride is a disgrace. I denounce the games. Burn our flag and we don't deserve a national anthem. Our nation has nothing to be proud of.. Slavery, Segregation for the poor, The Inquisition Tribunal for people of no faith...Death to West Phoenicia

Mollie: Oh...am i going to be on television. Let me fix my lipstick.

King Glenton Bush II weighed in on the debate. Stating the Olympics Games was a chance for everyone to come together to enjoy sports. A compromise is needed during the Opening and Closing Ceremony, West Phoenician athletes will march under "Praise to our Leader." If we win any medals athletes will stand proud as they accept their medal to "West Phoenicia in our hearts forever.
