Ugh...

The problem with having someone else doing your signup is you forget that you've forgotten to change an entry.

SWI Swibia 263 10935 41.58 0.198 5 393 42.27
VLT Vilitan Union 417 20802 49.88 0.200 0 0 49.88

NOTES
  • Swibia: Although this delegation should be rejected on the grounds that the corrections were never properly submitted in a new post (rather than editing the rejected submission after the fact), I have decided to accept it. Canoe Sprint—Women’s K-4 1000 m is not an event that is being contested at these Games; these entries have been placed in Canoe Sprint—Women’s K-4 500 m instead.

All entries are now final, except that Ethane may still submit a correction to their athletes’ names.

May I submit a correction to my athletes names? I forgot to send it to Saintland.

Apologies. I genuinely thought I had created a new post - when clicking on the edit button to copy and paste the old roster, I must have continued editing the old post rather than creating a new post with the changes added in. Hopefully this is the final instance of annoyance that I cause in this competition.

It was explicitly said by CH to TG the interest, so only a post would not cut it.

On top of it all, do you have the necessary experience to earn his trust over scorinating the qualifiers?

Pretty sure I did tg him. Also rather sure we were told the qualifiers were some sort of fantastic new way of getting less experienced people involved in hosting.

Less experienced does not necessarily mean those who have barely any experience in hosting.

Less experienced does not necessarily mean those who have barely any experience in hosting, if I can help you on the matter.

It does seem that everyone who has a qualifier already has a lot of experience, however. Perhaps it might do, once in a while, to trust that the same few people might not be the only people in the world who are capable of doing anything, and to expand the pool somewhat further. Especially since it is now extremely difficult for anyone to gain experience.

So host a lesser event and slowly work your way up. Host the Runner Cup or something. Oh wait, you're a special snowflake who believes "realism" trumps fun and can't tolerate anything with sapient ponies or fog things even though it's fun and therefore you have to only compete in the Olympics, which requires the most experience of anything to host, then whine when we won't let you host it.

The Olympics are not the place to do this. There are plenty of places that are; the World Bowl and International Basketball Championships, for instance, are good seeding grounds, as is the Baptism of Fire - though a co-host would be the way to go for this last one.

Alternatively, try hosting a small "friendly" tournament in a chosen sport - though do make sure you make it clear in the OP how you intend to scorinate (not doing this is the biggest rookie mistake going).

Remember, all expreienced hosts were once newbie hosts - we impart and instruct because we have been there.

(BTW, the best people to get advice for hosting are probably myself, CH, and Valanora, who have hosted a ridiculous number of events between us.)

Taking posts out of context is sooooooooooo fun, isn't it?
My comments in respect to realism were only as far as it would make no sense if their was a sporting event hosted in a realist region (such as Atlas, where Coraspia, note not the haven, is located.) Before accusing me of hating unrealistic entries, please read my entries in the Olympics. They feature two cyborgs, a King, a 10-year old tennis champion, and a thing called 'daisy the devourer' which you'll learn about later on (it's cute, and evil, and slightly...ever so slightly fluffy.) I don't take part in many events on ns sport because I am studying for a law degree, work full time and am writing a book, while also having a boyfriend, a social life, musical commitments, and membership in other rps as well as gameplay. Note how I did enter more events a few years ago (world cup, tennis, nscf, world bowl.)

Can I just ask, why the roster limits? Especially the 45 for American football?

Cutting down my World Bowl roster from 61 to 45 is quite the challenge :P

The draws for qualifying events are going to be several hours later than planned (I’d intended to have everything done by 00:00 UTC).

Without knowing what you want to correct, I can’t tell you if I’ll accept it.

It was primarily aimed at people who have significant prior experience in hosting other competitions and are interested in hosting the Olympic Games in the future—i.e., Quebec. I also chose a couple of less-experienced hosts for smaller events, but I had to choose a limited number so that, even if they somehow did something catastrophically wrong, it wouldn’t have a significant effect on the Olympic Games overall.

In real life, team rosters at the Olympic Games are limited so that the total number of athletes is manageable and to limit the number of unused substitutes who can receive medals (although that’s not a factor for a demonstration sport). For instance, association football rosters are limited to 18 at the Olympic Games even though competitions such as the World Cup and continental championships typically allow squads of 23.

I chose the number 45 specifically because it’s the roster limit at the IFAF World Championship, and was also the limit used when American football was played as an invitational sport at the Duisburg 2005 World Games.

Now that the draws are up, would it be too late to request a minor change of the names for one of my women's beach volleyball entry Alisia De Santigo/Alisia De Santigo to Alisia De Santigo/Sissie Abujamal? I mistakenly copied and pasted Alisia De Santigo's name twice for the team.
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

Maybe if people are keen to gather experience someone helpful and experienced can give them some training so they can put their hand up to help that way new people can learn.
He offered his assistance and instead people have been snarky and told him to go host a small event.

Maybe he wants to assist with the Olympics and unless something dodgy is going on where they only want certain qualifiers so they in turn can ensure their mates win spots in all the qualifiers.

Cant someone simply say sure. You can help me with some of the basic stuff.

There is clearly alot of work going into this. Little reward. Little thanks and time taken out of your schedule to create something fun.

Maybe he wants to assist with the Olympics and unless something dodgy is going on where they only want certain qualifiers so they in turn can ensure their mates win spots in all the qualifiers.

The reason why you cannot simply do that is because of how much work these events can demand. It is expected that you be on top of handling the scorinator and make sure that you are not going to make mistakes, or if you do....fix them accordingly. This is to ensure that even if things might go catastrophically on an event, it would not screw up great parts of the Olympic Games overall.

In order to ensure, that you need to have such scorination experience well in advance. Scorination and hosting experiences, especially to the point where you'll be able to reach that level of expectations successfully, don't come so handily in such a short matter of time.

I'd suggest TGing CH the details. Don't forget to tell him the event Sian/Maria is entered into; such a minor change should be OK (though I can't speak for CH, obviously), but at this point in time the host has a lot of data-related admin to do, so full details would make things that much quicker for both of you.

The Olympics is literally the biggest event on here, and is the one where someone with zero previous hosting experience is most unlikely to be asked to help in any way. Nothing "dodgy" at all.

There is clearly alot of work going into this. Little reward. Little thanks and time taken out of your schedule to create something fun.

That much you've got right. And exactly why Olympics hosts don't have the time to help someone with no previous hosting ability along. There's just too much to be done.
