IBC 21 Bid: Drawkland and Royal Kingdom of Québec

The Drawkland International Sporting Council and Basketball Québec, on behalf of Drawkland and Royal Kingdom of Québec are proud to submit the host bid for the 21st International Basketball Championships :

I. IBC Co-Hosts

After massive success in NSCAA 7 and a playoff appearance in IBC 20 (against Royal Kingdom of Québec itself of all teams), the Drawkland International Sporting Council (DISC) decided it was time to bid to host an edition of the IBC, with nationwide basketball hype at an all-time high. When hearing of Québec's intention to host an edition, the still-inexperienced DISC decided to go up for the challenge. [Some may consider this a mistake, faux pas, or even an unorthodox move, considering the massive, fun brawl that ensued between Drawk/Net Corps and Bubonic Plague fans at IBC 20 in Ceni, but after careful considering, it was decided that not only are both Québec and (especially) Drawkland both well-equipped to handle brawls and riots of similar sizes, but it was highly unlikely that the two teams would end up playing each other due to format, which would certainly reduce potential problems.]

As far as Drawkland itself goes, transportation to and from it will be provided free of charge for teams and staff and at a reduced rate for fans. This is due to the fact that the Interstellar Empire exists, predictably, among another star system, and thus is the only medium available to travel to and from Drawkland. The nation itself is massive and sprawling on the planet Sonnel, and in the proposed host cities, there are limitless methods to travel within the cities, many which would be novel and exciting to visitors. Considering Drawkland's storied and deep involvement with music, pep bands are not only allowed to play at games held in Drawkland, even during gametime, a Drawkian pep band will be provided when neither team provides one. This will certainly cause issues for teams who have problems with distractions, but DISC decided it was worth it, to show off Drawkian culture.

Located in cold, harsh lands of Northwestern AO, Royal Kingdom of Québec is a nation known for its environment, rich cultural diversity and claims one of its region's most educated and cultured population. Led by His Imperial Majesty the Jacques IX, the country is a semi-constitutional monarchy, with both the royalty and the democracy playing a huge role in Québécois politics. With a high HDI rating and affluent economy, Royal Kingdom of Québec is an advanced nation with long years of peace and stability within the nation, while still allowing for societal and economic progress over the course of its history. With a beautiful environment, advanced economy, state-of-art infrastructure and love of basketball, Royal Kingdom of Québec is your place to go for your once-in-a-lifetime voyage that welcomes every traveler with smile and cheer.

Though most famous for its flagship achievements in hockey and strong presence in association football, Royal Kingdom of Quebec has been one of the Multiverse's leading nations in basketball the last few editions. While the sport is not the most popular, coming third to hockey and handball while tying with volleyball for winter sports, it is very popular sports to play or watch. Thus, Basketball Québec (BQ) and The Bubonic Plague, well-celebrated and infamous supporters' group of the Québeéois National Teams, is looking for the hosting of IBC as a good chance to respond to the longstanding love and support given to the sport by the fans, as well as a safe, fun tournament for those of TBP to partake in.

II. Format

Both DISC and BQ considers that most ideal format involve those to the multiples of 6 or 8. Given the number of signups we've been gathering the last few IBCs, our optimal number for the format would be 48 teams.

So, if elected, the signups will most likely cut off after 48, though if the demand is much greater, both hosts are willing to make more flexible arrangements (56 and 64 being the most preferable numbers). The teams then, using the pots, will be divided by their pots into 8 groups of 6, 7 or 8 nations. It will be double round robin fixture for 48-team format and single for 56- or 64-team format. With the round robin fixture, the games will be played in either Royal Kingdom of Québec or Drawkland, regardless of the numbers and arrangements. After the group stage top 2 teams in the respective groups will advance to playoffs, who will then be seeded in a 16-team, best-of-three bracket, with the finals being 5-game series.

III. Scorination/RP Bonus

Like the last few cycles of IBC, Xkoranate's basketball function will be used for the scorination. While we prefer not to release our exact grading scale, RP bonus will be very generous and cumulative throughout the tournament. As co-hosts, we look to provide additional RP opportunities given throughout the competition to enhance your experience in the IBC 21.

IV. OOC Experience

The user behind Drawkland is a rising member of the NSSport community. While being evidently new to NS Sports compared to some of the older vets, Drawkland has hosted 2 International Cups of 7ball, and 4/5 currently finished Drum Corps events (both using modified scorinators). More recently and impressively, he's hosting the Flying Drawk Conference and Conference Seven Twelve in NSCAA 7, and co-hosted World Bowl XXIX alongside Frenline Delpha. With IBC 21 this will mark Drawkland's 3rd cycle in the IBC, and as noted above, its most participated tournament yet. Passionate fan of the sport, he will be looking forward to provide the participants fun and enjoyable IBC tournament.

The user behind the Royal Kingdom of Québec is an established NSSports community member with long history of successfully hosting tournaments. He hosted or co-hosted the World Cup 73, World Bowl XXIV and XXVIII, World Cup of Hockey XXV, XVI and XXX, Baptism of Fire LVII and 62, Cup of Harmony 64 and International Basketball Championships 17-18, as well as AOCAF XLVII and CR XXI. The user behind the nation had served as the President for the World Cup of Hockey Federation for 6 editions and a longtime member in many sporting committees, as well as formerly organising the NSCAA Ice Hockey Competitions. He also has hosted many seasons of domestic sports leagues, and has been working on to scorinate many pro and amateur leagues in Québécois sports newswire.
