Fan Support: Small
Expectations: Mid-table.
Prediction: 7th
Style: Defensive
Sponsor: Wizard Cleaning
Nickname(s): Citizens, Tigers
Team Info: The smaller of the two teams in the capital, mostly because they are situated in the northern enclave of the city. However, the stadium is surrounded by fans and not supporting them and living in northern Alvdal is seen as treason.
Star Player: Lisov (ST)
Starting Team: Adarkidai (GK), Jarchigudai (LB), Sain (CB), Hermansen (CB), Vuèko (RB), Gyldenlove (LM), Sanchir (CM), Nyhus (CM), Bakken (RM), Ogele (ST), Lisov (ST)

Fan Support: Large
Expectations: Title Chasers
Prediction: 2nd
Style: Attacking
Sponsor: Fly Savalen
Nickname(s): Hawks, Mountains
Team Info: The larger team, mostly due to the fact they were founded earlier. However, this is the first season of the championship, so anything could happen.

Prediction: 1st

Star Player: Temuge (CAM)
Starting Team: Kallevig (GK), Borjigidai (LB), Tungge (CB), Malmin (CB), Jakhelln (RB), Aarnes (DM), S.Elstad (LM), Chanai (RM), Temuge (CAM), Kallevig (ST), Kildahl (ST)

Colors: Black
Fan Support: Medium
Expectations: Top Half
Prediction: 4th

Sponsor: Miner's Meals
Nickname(s): Miners, Moles

Star Player: Selberg (GK)
Starting Team: Selberg (GK), Sukh (LB), Gudmundson (CB), Bergland (CB), Sorbo (RB), Rogstad (DM), Norheim (CM), Orduoronartai (CM), Bolkhadar (RAM), Eldgrímursson (LAM), Gur(ST)

Fan Support: Small
Expectations: Relegation
Prediction: 12th
Style: Balanced
Sponsor: Necropluto
Nickname(s): Villagers, Fishermen
Team Info: Located on the Fjord, as the name suggests, they are the smallest team in the league. However, they always seem to escape relegation by the skin of their teeth, with Sangra leading the line. Can they do the same in the reformed league?
Star Player: Sagra (CM)
Starting Team: Midthun (GK), Rafael (LB), Khongkhortai (CB), Torgaljin (CB), Beito (RB), Huitfeldt (LM), Sagra (CM), Kleve (CM), Walstad (RM), Ness (ST), Bugurul (ST)

Team Info: Represent the whole South-West of the country. Are the cup team of the past decade, but they never do well in the league. It might be that squishy defence, but can the incoming manager change that?
Star Player: Frederiksen (LM)
Starting Team: Castberg (GK), Ajai (CB), Khuril (CB), Lauritzen (CB), Frederiksen (LM), Ashigh (CM), Geugi (CM), Hovet (CM), Choban (RM), Khalja (ST), Dalantai (ST)

Nickname(s): Survivors, Predators
Team Info: Probably the feel-good story of the last few years. Despite being one day away from bankruptcy just 2 years ago, 3 promotions on the trot meant they were invited into the new league, but can they stay up? The stadium doubles as a hiking centre, as some of the best hiking trails lead from here.
Star Player: Tobsakha (DM)
Starting Team: Meling (GK), Hutagt (LB), Bilig (CB), Koss (CB), Nore (RB), Tobsakha (DM), Alghu (CM), Midthun (CM), Mellem (CM), Nachin(ST), Haukland (ST)

Team Info: Located on the other side of the Tronfjell mountain chain, Tynset has one of the better clubs in the country. However, their new manager has failed to live up to expectations. Can the Tynset legend, Svitak, lead them back to glory?
Star Player: Sühk (ST)
Starting Team: Overbay (GK), Norum (LB), Ibsen (CB), Amasandji (CB), Taragai (RB), Fevold (LM), Baidar (CM), Tabur (CM), Eikeli (RM), Sühk (ST), Blix (ST)

A very open start to the season saw Molde FC set the pace early on closely followed by Trondfjell Albion, who are still unbeaten. Fans of both teams are hoping that their respective tems can continue this form at least until the winter break, but there have been rumblings of an argument between coach and players at Molde after their loss to Trondfjell Albion. Since then, there has been no mention of a disagreement, but if they lose, will the same happen. Over at Trondheim Vikings, things haven't exactly gone to plan. The "Northern capital" only has one team and this absence of rivals may be damaging as the bookies favourite find themselves down in ninth, above the relegation play-offs on goal difference.

Innfjorden set a record for goals conceded by conceding eight. Not to be outdone by their relegation rivals, Otta Overs decided to conced seven in their next game against Tynset City. As such, odds on their managers, Alex Ross and David De Luca respectively, have had their odds on being the first manager to be sacked slashed, Alex Ross' going down to 2/1. Bet now before you have to give money when you win your bet!

Why are they so low you ask? Alex Ross' team are the only ones yet to win, picking up a solitary point against Harrenhall. Talking of early favourites to go down, Rondane Rovers have taken a massive leap to safety, taking a giant seven points in their first six games, placing them seventh and on course for the 25 points predicted to be enough for survival at the start of the season. Hats off to Gunnar Svitak for uncovering the hidden gem that is Tobsakha and creating one of the league's best defensive midfielders, helping the team to a load of draws, the most in the league at four. If only they had a clinical attack...

The top scoring team, Røros with 22, include the two of the three top scoring players so far, mostly because they scored four apiece against Innfjorden. This bodes well for the future of Savalen - Gur is just 18.Narrowly ahead of them is Sühk, who scored all seven against Otta Overs and was the first (and only so far) to hit double digits. Sadly, he sprained his knee during the next match after giving Tynset an early lead against Røros Rovers and Tynset haven't scored since. He is hoping to come back for matchday 9 and see himself near to the top of the scoring charts.

I can't really talk about anything else without mentioning the only unbeaten team in the championship. They haven't lost a single match since the opening day and broke the record for biggest win and most goals scored in a single match. It's the second placed Hawks of course. Second you ask? The league's top striker and second? The best defence in the league? Well, they drew their first two matches, which could potentially harm their chances of winning the division.

Who is in front? Well, early pace-setters have extended their lead at the top to three points and are playing a style which relies on all of the team defending first and attacking second. Building on this solid foundation, they have created an attacking style of play that is expansive and clinical, which means they are second in terms of goals scored. Can they keep up the pace?

At the other end, things have changed a little, but not much. Trondheim Vikings have discovered a bit of form winning four of their five matches, losing only to Molde FC. Bottom-placed Innfjorden have had little respite from what has been an awful start, but they managed to scrape a win at Tynset City, easing pressure a little from Alex Ross' shoulders, but in the end, he was sacked on matchday 10. The youth manager has taken over, but with very few candidates for an ailing club, their prospects aren't looking good. Can they find a manager who can lead them to safety in time?

Everything that goes up must come down. In the case of Savalenian football, if something else goes up, you go down. Well that's the case in Vik. The poor souls were the losers from Tronheim's run upwards, going from fifth to ninth in five matches picking up the least points, bar Innfjorden (3 points) and Harrenhall (1 point). On the subject of Harrenhall, the only foreign manager in the league has been given an ultimatum - win at least two of the next six, or you're out. Oh and Otta Overs lost 7-1 again.

In terms of the scoring charts, Trondheim's Folden has been on fire, scoring 10 of his team's 22 overall over five matchs, giving him a little breathing space at the top of the charts.

Coming into the final quarter of the season, the cup looks set to travel to the western coast of Savalen. To Molde specifically. The fans that regularly will be absolutely ecsatic that they have opened an eight point lead at the top of the table. It would be incredible if they lost it! Driving their charge up the table, Qorisubechi has drawn level with Folden in the scoring charts, but the most impressive thing has been that they have been able to not just score goals, but score them across the board. Eight different players have been able to chip in and every single player who has played has been involoved with at least one goal.

But Molde didn't do anything amazing. They just kept on plugging away, just like they have been all season. The failure of the rival teams to offer a challenge has been the problem. The Hawks have failed to grasp results by the *ahem* beak and fly off with them. Sorry, bad joke. This may be down to the fact that the northerners have failed to capitalise on a load of draws where they have looked like they are going to win, but just lack the cutting edge. Will they buy a new striker in the summer?

At the other end, Innfjorden, on 6 points, are pretty much down and the chance that Otta or Harrenhall will somehow be able to escape the relegation play-offs looks further and further away as each matchday passes by. Otta overs did however show some fight as they beat Vik 4-1, but the gulf in goal difference leaves them with a mountain the size of Everest to climb, but don't write them off - it is still very much mathematically possible to not be relegated.

As for the International ckub competition qualifiers - Molde are pretty much assured a Champions Cup spot after the win at Harrenhall confirmed they would at least be in the Globe Cup. Joining them should be Trondfjell Albion, who have a 9 point lead over fifth placed Aker, who seem to be falling one place every 5 matches or so. Can they come back and confirm their place in the Globe Cup? Their rivals are Røros (one point ahead) and the Vikings (2 points ahead). Or will Tynset City steal a place from under the noses of their rivals?

Derby days are always fun at the start. You go to the stadium full of apprehension, full of hope that maybe you can pull off a shock against your richer, foreign-invested rival that has a bigger, but quieter crowd. Maybe you could even wreck havoc in their during their titlepartyy. That's the case of Aker, who are just hoping that they can beat Molde on Matchday 22. The matchday also provides us with the Capitøl derby - Alvdal FC vs Trondfjell Albion, where Alvdal will be looking to put a little bit of happiness into what has been a disappointing season.

In the Globe Cup places, we have our teams - Røros just fell away at the vital moment, gaining just 4 points at the final hurdle. The qualifiers are Trondfjell, Aker and Trondheim.

I wonder why we decided to do a special Matchday 22 preview - everything has been pretty much decided. Yes a few teams can swap places and yes, those pendantic ones of you will say that Otta can still make it out of the relegation playoffs, but seriously a 13 goal swing? For a team which has only just managed that over 32 goals and let in 7 goals in a game twice?! Delusional. Even the stats are unlikely to change - Qorisubechi has this thing wrapped up. On the subject of Qorisubechi, he was born in a different country, but has got a Savalen passport. Can he convince Vetkesen he deserves a call up? Even when the team were so impressive in the BoF and NW Cup?

Down at the bottom, Innfjorden, still managerless and the most likely candidates for relegation from day one, haven't even got to double digits, but they could with a draw at Vik, who are safe for another year. Rondane Rovers have joined the 7-1 club, but they are safe, but our congratulations go to Vik - they put seven without reply past Harrenhall - an amazing achievement for a sad season down in the lower reaches of the table.

Goals

17 - Folden (Trondfjell)

The Molde derby turned out to be... ah... feisty. Two reds each and another 15 yellows shared between them, it certainly wasn't the most beautiful game. But Molde have been champions by getting results in scrappy games and they did it again here. Incredible to think that it ended 5-3 and was so stop-start. The Alvdal was a bore 0-0 draw. I won't say more than that.

Other than that, we can now officially say bye - bye to Innfjorden and congratulate our first ever Globe Cuo entrants - Trondfjell, Trondheim and Aker. But out biggest cheer has to go to Molde FC - Division 1 Champions!

All that's left to say is that the relegation play-offs and Division 2 results coming up next and congrats to the individual winners. See you next season.

Division 2

Postby Savalen » Mon May 30, 2016 5:17 am

Preview

Keeping this paragraph short (mostly because nobody cares about the mid-table sides in Division 1, let alone Division 2), we are looking ahead to the new season and, of course, the nervy affair that is the relegation and promotion play-offs.

I'll start off with Dale. A team that could be challenging for the globe cup places in D1, they were surprisingly left out of the D1 when the league system was restructured. Propelled by AM Smeck, who is left to roam all around the attacking third, he is likely to chip in a similar number of goals to their main striker, Nordik, but also provide a mass of assists. If they don't win the league it will be an upset.

The only thing going to the two most likely teams to provide an upset, (in order) Loen and Oppdal, is the fact that Dale are extremely attacking, so a dip in goals could give one of the two teams a chance. Overall though, these two teams are predicted to get the promotion play-off places and not provide a serious chance of actually battling for top spot. Lower down in division 2, the next few teams are very close, so there could be a four or five way dogfight for 3rd place, which plays into the hands of Dale.

Play-offs in Savalen are strange - the 10th and 11th placed teams in D1 play-off for the last survival place, whilst the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in D2 play-off for the second promotion place. Overall, it's two up and two down. There is no relegation from division 2, as below the teams are purely amateur. There have been whispers of a third division, but it won't happen before world cup 78, along with rumours (a stronger word) that a cup competition will be unveiled within the next couple of years.

Well, things went as planned - Dale won the title quite comfortably in the end, even though as late as matchday 16, they were behind Kvinke, who came second. Dale were equal with both Kvinke and Oppdal at the halfway point, but their experience showed at the end of the season, not letting Kvinke's failure to win 5 matches in row go unpunished.

Kvinke's form over three-quarters of the season allowed them to stutter into second place, but the drama was definately to be found in the battle for third place. Surprisingly Oppdal were in with a shout, mathematically still being able to clinch third, as they needed both teams to fall at the last hurdle and win themselves. They did have the bonus of having the better goal difference, but it still was very unlikely that everything would fall into place, but morale and fan's hopes were high though. Bismo entered the final day on point behind Loen, our other favourite for promotion play-offs, but Leon had to travel away to winners Dale, a tough task, whilst Bismo were fighting it out at bottom placed Meraker, who with a win, could rise from last placed.

There were a few matches that finished 6-0 or 6-1, but the match you have to watch is Oppdal vs Dale: 13 goals scored between them. Isn't that incredible? Go watch the highlights right now whilst they are available on the website!

Play-offs

Well it's Harrenhall vs Otta. The two teams have been battling it out all season, Otta actually winning the game between them on matchday 22. Can they repeat their two wins against Harrenhall, or will Harrenhall spring a surprise and clinch survival, despite being seven points behind in the regular season.

For promotion, it's Kvinke, who are have hit a patch of bad form losing them the title, vs Bismo, who clinched third place on the last day in a threeway battle with Loen and Oppdal.

Kvinke 1-2 Bismo
Harrenhall FC 1-2 Otta Overs

Surprise, surprise, it will be Harrenhall who will be joining Otta in being relegated into division 2 after they were beaten 2-1 by Otta. Otta upkept their 100% record against the Royals. For Kvinke, their bad run of form continued. They managed to score, but it wasn't enough as the match ready Bismo were quick out of the blocks, taking a 2-0 lead within 30 minutes.
