NationStates College Football Season 14

Image

The World Bowl is over, and that means it is time to transition back to college football! The fourteenth edition of NationStates College Football is upon us. Here you will post your team's roster and all in-character roleplay posts. Any out-of-character questions should be directed towards the discussion thread, this nation, or your conference scorinator.

With numbers from NSCF 13 remaining static at thirty teams, the same format will be used. New and returning players alike are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the NSCF procedure here. Each of the five conferences conference has six teams. The regular season will be double round-robin, for a total of 10 games. Games will be scorinated three times a week: on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Scores will be posted in this thread at a time determined by each conference's designated scorinator.

After all ten conference games, there will be a "Non-Conference Week", with each team playing up to three games against opposition from other conferences. These games will not count toward conference championships, but WILL affect playoff seedings. All Non-Conference games must be arranged by the teams playing them and confirmed in the discussion thread.

The playoff format this season includes eight teams for a three-round, single-elimination tournament. All 5 conference champions, the next best team by OSPI, and two selected at-large by the NSCF committee. Seeds for the playoffs will be determined purely by OSPI, and the higher seeds will have home advantage until the Final, which will take place at a neutral venue (host bids can be posted in this thread) to be voted on by the NSCF Committee.

In addition to the playoffs, there will be the possibility for a few one-off "bowl games" prior to the playoffs for teams not reaching the postseason. Proposed bowl games will be listed below, and organizing nations will be responsible for sending out invites to eligible teams closer to the time and confirming that the game will take place. There is no obligation to take part in a bowl game. The Pioneer Bowl is a traditional game for the two best performing newcomer teams not in the playoffs, and the NSCF will not recognize any bowl game involving a team with an OSPI below 0.450.

The Cosumarite Courier PIONEER BOWL

89 WR Jake Firela returns Punts and Kicks

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes.
Choose Scoring Events: Yes.
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes.
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes.
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Anything not career-ending is fine, even without TG.
Godmod Other Events: Yes.

Honestly, just don't destroy my organization. Have fun making a funny or quirky game occur. I will certainly enjoy anything you throw my way.

Style Modifier: +4

In the leagues of Drawkian College Football, the Drawk Corps is the most renowned and perhaps feared organization in the country. Perhaps their most interesting feature is their frequency of blitzing, attempting at least 2 per drive on average, more if they're successful. They typically play 4-4-3, and on brief occasion, 4-2-5.

Due to the doctrine of the Drawk Corps organization, the Quarterback calls plays unless they're doing absolutely terribly, for which the Offensive Coordinator or Head Coach will step in to stop the suckage. For the most part, the Drawk Corps opts for 1 WR, 3 RB, and a TE. The Passing game is decent, but considering Drawkland's avid running culture, the Running game is top-notch. They usually use both at whatever discretion, but favor running, sometimes jumping over the pile on the line of scrimmage to gain yards.

The Special Teams is the highest quality in Drawkland's college football. Their accuracy is nearly pinpoint in good weather, but has a steep curve when the weather worsens. The length has a little to be desired, however. The Drawk Corps is notorious for using fake kicks, and usually fake punts.

Kicks returned usually by #89 WR Jake Firela.

Rather self-explanatory, Drawk Corps University is the University owned and operated by the Drawk Corp organization of Drawkland. It's a self-sustaining organization, with many branches. It's almost an independent country living on Drawkland's grounds. It owns many companies, and employs many workers, but most importantly and visibly, they operate sports teams, on the professional, minor professional, collegiate, and even high school level. They have teams in every major league Drawkian sport, and in even some less-than-major sports.
Football and Marching Band are their strong points for sure, and the Drawk Corps University Football is definitely the pride of both the Corps and Drawk City.
The Drawk Corps University's teams are all called "Drawk Corps University Drawk Corps," so it's usually abbreviated as simply "Drawk Corps" since everyone knows who you're talking about in context, or as the locals or avid fans/members call it, simply "The Corps" or "Corps."

{OOC: There is a stadium for the Drawk Corps, but I have a very specific design for it so I can't exactly attach an image here. I might be able to model it or draw it well a few seasons from now.}

As it can be determined from the roster, most Drawkian players are about a foot taller and a couple dozen pounds heavier than the average players of other teams. This is due to the evolution of the species, in the haunted times, required to grow taller to seek potential threats and to have longer legs to run faster. So, the team isn't made of 7 foot freaks, that's just how the average Drawkian looks. It will obviously still be a disadvantage to teams the Drawkians face, but most Drawkains are also less stocky-built, so the effects even out.

Also, see this dispatch.

Ramusok Capital University (RCU) Dragons

Image

Location: Ramusok, Ramusok Fief, Cosumar

School Size: 54,000 undergraduates

NSCF Championships: 1 (NSCF 10), Conference Titles: 3 (NSCF 2, 3, 11)

Team History: RCU was one of the original NSCF 1 schools and has participated in all thirteen editions of the event, making it one of the most storied programs in NSCF history. Ramusok Capital won its first NSCF Championship three years ago against Utica, the culmination of a long rebuilding process that began in NSCF 6. After winning the Horizon Conference in NSCF 11, they were dethroned by domestic rivals Stoneshore College in NSCF 12 and again last year. Long the dominant program between the two, RCU have now started to take a slight backseat to Stoneshore after the Bruins made another Championship Game appearance last season. However, the fact that Snorri Andersen led RCU to the semifinals in his second season after missing the playoffs in his first suggests that RCU too are on an upward trajectory again. Until that famed NSCF 10 season, RCU's best finishes were runs to the semifinals in NSCF 1 and 2.

Head Coach: Snorri Andersen
Offensive Coordinator: Michael Cho
Defensive Coordinator: Jarpen Spoonemore
Special Teams Coordinator: Andrew Bockman

Location: Cape Dutch, Stoneshore, Cosumar

School Size: 28,000 undergraduates

Championships: 1 (NSCF 11), Conference Titles: 3 (NSCF 10, 12, 13)

Team History: Stoneshore have shed the role of "RCU's little brother" in recent seasons, stepping out from the shadows and becoming a powerhouse in their own right. The year RCU won Cosumar's first NSCF title (NSCF 10), Stoneshore actually had the better regular season at 9-1. And then in NSCF 11, the perpetual "little brother" finally had their revenge for years of misery at the hands of the Dragons', knocking their rival out of the Playoffs and then winning a NSCF championship of their own. With their NSCF 13 conference title, Stoneshore matched RCU's total with three - and went all the way to the Championship Game, where they lost by 3 to Utica. It will be fascinating to see which of these two Cosumarite titans will win the tussle this season! The balance of power has never been more precarious. The Bruins had a poor debut in NSCF 2, and had never even reached the postseason until NSCF 10. The turnaround in the last three years can be directly attributed to the arrival of legendary CFL coach Walter Hufnagel and his ambitious recruiting.

All positions are listed in order as the official depth chart from the South Seas University football program web page.
Players most likely to make big plays are noted with an asterisk (*)

Honu Offensive bullet points:
  • With the NSCF 12 Most Outstanding Player Ezra Talbot the biggest casualty of the Honu graduates, this season is going to be tough for the South Seas program to find the firepower that recently existed, especially in the extremely robust Horizon Conference, which legitimately fields six playoff contenders in NSCF 14. Even though Talbot nearly led the Honu to the NSCF promised land with a runner-up finish, he now headlines the mass exodus that has befallen the Honu gridiron program heading into the current season.
  • Offensively, the Honu run a zone read spread offense which takes advantage of creating space for speedy players to make plays. The question for this season will be whether or not the Honu have enough playmakers to do the job.
  • With Talbot’s graduation comes some amount of uncertainty at the QB position. While Talbot was an outright star, it remains to be seen whether or not there is an adequate replacement currently on the Honu roster. Junior Augustine Cobbler will get the first chance nearly out of default, but is certain to have a short leash with the talented but raw Cyril Peregrine pushing the depth chart.
  • Now that Ezra Talbot has made his departure, younger brother Jonas is primed for the spotlight as the only Talbot in town. Still, expectations should be tempered, as Coach Goose Carneghy has shown a propensity toward a RBBC approach. While previous seasons have proven plenty of touches for each involved, we’re not certain that the current talent depth will provide that same opportunity this season. Talbot and Ezekiel Pentecost project to share touches equally, both out of the backfield as well as in short passing routes. With the graduation of bruiser Sterling Sparrow, Brigham Cooke will take over sole duties of the ground-and-pound role. Cooke may be an under the radar bet for a large increase in touches as the Honu may need to change offensive schemes as a means to better clock management.
  • Another major casualty of the Honu graduates is exiting WR Satchel King, who should get more credit than he does for making a pedestrian group of receivers look better than they actually were. With King now out of the picture, it will be interesting to see whether this Honu team is able to make the same downfield plays as before. Estancio Abascal is pegged to take over the de facto #1 WR role, but Asa Tasman is probably the WR to watch as he undoubtedly will increase in playing time in a role akin to the departing King’s. The undersized track and field specialist Laird Prefontaine made the most of limited touches in NSCF 13, and will look to increase his presence with pure speed via short screens or flat out homeruns, with very little in between.
  • At the tight end position, the Honu have promoted the physical Phineas Clocktower to the top spot on the depth chart. While Clocktower entered his freshman year a bit raw, the Honu brass must be sufficiently confident of his skill progression to make such a designation in his sophomore year. Gifted with substantial measurables and athleticism, Clocktower is likely to fit the mold of Honu alum Levi Savage, who at times proved to be uncoverable. Clocktower’s development is of key importance to the future of the Honu football program.
  • It may be a long year for QB Cobbler if his offensive line does not gel early. With every single starter moving on since NSCF 13, Cobbler needs to hope that the South Seas recruiting was on par. The ability or inability of this relatively inexperienced group to mesh may mean the difference between a great or terrible NSCF 14 for the Honu.
  • The offense will undoubtedly seek to move the chains utilizing the zone read, with runs early and often. To keep the defense on their toes, the zone read will open up plays in the short screen game with wide receiver bubble screens, running back short passes, and tight end screens mixed in. Look out for the electric runningbacks though, because if you lose them in coverage they will swing out on a seam route and gash you for thirty yards. Just when the defense has settled in to the short game, quarterback Augustine Cobbler will go for the jugular with a long pass to any number of receivers.
  • Coach Carneghy has been known to be quite aggressive, routinely electing to go for fourth down plays over punting and even throwing in the occasional two point conversion after touchdowns.
  • Key losses: QB Ezra Talbot, RB Sterling Sparrow, WR Satchel King, WR Anselm Chancellor, WR, Barclay Beckett, TE Cairo Livingstone, LT Anu Kealoha, LG Holokai Kahili, C Blaine Cassius, RG Kaleo Kanoa, RT Kai Kanoa
  • Key additions: QB Reuben Pennyante, RB Rogelio Encarnacion, WR Felix Scribe, WR Simon Muir, WR Amos Whaler, TE Azusa Hobbes, LT Bartemeus Seasalter, LG Adriel Kana’i, C Gabriel Kalalau, RG Hurisko Cassiel, RT Oliver Sackcloth

Honu Defensive bullet points:
  • The Honu play a hybrid 3-5-3/3-3-5 defense, again focused on getting speedy players to the ball in a hurry. The hybrid nature of the defense means the Honu will substitute liberally on defense, adding to the confusion of the defensive schemes while keeping players fresh.
  • Defensive Coordinator Samson Fisafua will look to build on the defensive wrinkles introduced last year, and while the heart of this unit is the speedy, bend but don’t break philosophy, Fisafua has done his best to increase the size and physical strength of the unit as well. In addition to a bulked up line and backs, Fisafua will look to employ zone blitzes to cause confusion and get unblocked linebackers and defensive ends to the quarterback or ball carrier.
  • The Honu defense was not immune to key losses, losing big names DE Wolf Valentine, LB Gideon Ali’iloa, and shutdown corner Jovante James, among several others. It will be curious to see what reign Goose Carneghy gives to Fisafua and the revamped defense, as Fisafua has been an underrated talent in the Carneghy scheme. The makeup of the Honu team may force Carneghy’s hand to give this defense more playing time, which should make Honu fans nervous as other programs take note of the increased exposure for Fisafua. Many scouts believe Fisafua may be on a number of teams’ shortlist for potential head coach vacancies next season.
  • No doubt the heart of any Fisafua led defense is the unit at the front and center. Behemoth NT Laurent Delormier has made himself even more a force to be reckoned with, adding 45 pounds in the offseason to add bulk to what was otherwise a bit of a small frame. Fisafua will look to employ DEs Roosevelt Calderon and Adawale Jesumbo to create absolute havoc on opposing offenses. In the middle of the field, the linebacking corps is a particular strength, with a number of up and coming players muddying the waters of what otherwise could have been a very clear picture on a number of other teams. Again, Fisafua has shown his prowess in recruiting as most of these linebackers could start on other NSCF teams.
  • With the hybrid defensive scheme that the Honu are set to employ, there has been no official designation from the official website on players in the defensive backfield. Instead, defensive backs will be asked to play in a myriad of roles.
  • The loss of DB Jovante James will be a key storyline for the Honu defensive secondary, as James showed adeptness at removing half of the field from opposing QB vantages. Sophomore Lyman Orchards, who entered the South Seas program with a multitude of hype, will get plenty of chances to live up to his lofty recruitment. The lofty Elzavon Sandbar has proven time and again why, even with his size, he was not recruited instead as WR. It would not be too surprising if Sandbar leads the team in broken up passes without a single interception. Otherwise, as has been the traditional weakness of Fisafua led defenses, the defensive secondary lists a number of pedestrian talents, and the loss of other experienced DBs does not help the Honu case.
  • The entire defense is built on speed, and quick substitutions to all positions project to keep the defensive unit fresh in all levels. Defensive stops will hinge on each player proving to play smartly as the amount of substitutions will force each defensive player to play to their fullest cerebral potential.
  • Key losses: DE Wolf Valentine, LB Gideon Ali’iloa, LB Baruch Boniface, LB Evander Bautista, DB, Jovante James, DB, Eustace Wellington, DB Francisco de la Cruz
  • Key additions: DE Sylvester Beachaven, LB Titus Shackleton, LB Calvin Slatechrome, LB Sabian Ayers, DB Lucian Cobblestone, DB Sal Hurley, DB Jenkins Leroy

My opponent, if they roleplay first, has permission on the following items:
  • Turnovers and players that committed them: Yes
  • Scorers: Yes
  • Type of scores: Yes (I don't even care if you choose five safeties for a score of 10)
  • Injuries: Minor injuries only (defining minor as removing player from the game at hand but available for subsequent games
  • For your reference, players most likely to make big plays are noted with an asterisk (*), though feel free to utilize other players as needed or wanted.
  • Other: Yes. Feel free to RP missed kicks, going for two rather than an extra point, failed or converted fourth downs, odd play calls, penalties etc. The only thing I care about is things that would potentially remove players from subsequent games, such as injuries, sanctions, or disciplinary action.

THEREISNOGODISTAN COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
OFFICIAL TEAM SHEET

Thereisnogodistan County is a county in the Abanhfleft colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula. It was established on November 30, 2014 from the splitting of Haritzaga County, by Colonial Executive Order No. 190047. The southern part of the county retained the name and history of Haritzaga County, while the northern part was named Thereisnogodistan County. The county seat is Thereisnogodabad.

Thereisnogodistan County Community College is an American football team based in Thereisnogodabad, Fhulghamous Peninsula. Its home ground is Richard Dawkins Park, a 23,171-seater park named after the prominent atheist Richard Dawkins, which is also currently the home ground of Fleftic Premier League team Thereisnogodistan F.C. Even though it is a college team, Thereisnogodistan Community College has participated in the World Bowl many times and even came out runners-up in the last-ever edition of the Baptism of Iron, and World Bowl XXVIII.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of team:
Thereisnogodistan FC
Team colors: Yellow shirt, pants, socks, and helmet (home); white shirt, pants, socks, and helmet (away)
Style modifier: +3.5. Thereisnogodistan is inspired by Fleftic sporting philosophy in that the best defense is offense.
Manager: Francois-Michel Nkong'o (Abanhfleft, 42 years old)

HOME STADIUM
Image
Richard Dawkins Park will serve as Thereisnogodistan's home stadium for the entirety of NSCF 14. It currently seats 23,171 people.

NOTES: Since Thereisnogodistan County Community College is a small college, the team will not have as many reserves as they would like, and therefore injuries are very much not good for the team. An injury might force a safety to become a temporary quarterback, and such cross-position training is not very popular within Abanhfleft's sporting systems. Also, Kelly Profit will be the first female to ever play in Thereisnogodistan's American football program, and she will play as quarterback for the Atheists, replacing the graduating Harrison Aumann.

Scout’s Honor: Sizing up the Honu for NSCF 14
Story by Abraham Shepherd

Mosaic--Football is in the air once again as the South Seas University Honu prepare for the NSCF’s 14th season, the team’s fourth in such a division. A number of questions have made their way to the forefront of this season, headlined by the transition of superstars-- quarterback Ezra Talbot, wide receiver Satchel King, defensive back Jovante James, defensive end Wolf Valentine--as well as other key pieces to this gridiron unit.

With so many questions yet to be answered, it is with clarity in mind that we submit to our readers our staffs’ take on this year’s roster. For the first time, rather than offering a brief synopsis on key players, we would like to bring you a few notes about every single player (we know how Goose Carneghy likes to play around with schemes, so it makes sense).

The list below is sorted by alphabetic order so names can easily be located. It may be worthwhile to compare the list to the team’s official depth chart.

  • Abacus, Isodore-- LB: Among the nest of talent at the LB position, Abacus should find plenty of playing time in a scheme that puts plenty of emphasis at the position. We believe he will be one of the few players that the Honu defense counts on more often than not.
  • Abascal, Estancio-- WR: A pedestrian talent when he was recruited four years ago, he now sits atop the depth chart at WR after parlaying his experience into better skills. He'll make a number of plays each game by sheer virtue of familiarity with the system, but Asa Tasman will supplant him as the team's true #1 sooner rather than later.
  • Abbott, Mordecai-- DB: Abbott should see plenty of time as the primary slot defender in both the base 3-5-3 and the sub 3-3-5. He should be good enough for this unit to work and see regular snaps, but we wouldn't count on too many big plays from this defensive backfield outside of up and coming Lyman Orchards.
  • Anuenue, Koa-- DE: He's going to have a tough sled ahead getting playing time, but Anuenue, like so many other of the defensive front 8, will get his time to shine in this offense. Once the path in front of him is cleared, he is going to OWN this position and subsequently opposing offensive linemen.
  • Ayers, Sabian-- LB: A decent, middle of the road run stopper that should be able to help plug some of the gaps should opposing teams make it through the gauntlet up front composed of Delormier, Calderon, and Jesumbo.
  • Beachaven, Sylvester-- DE: He's likely going to have to sit a year to get any significant playing time, but his time will come. Like the outgoing Wolf Valentine that he will replace, he might be a monster in this speedy defensive scheme.
  • Bush, Jaelen-- RB: Fits the mold of those ahead of him on the depth chart--fast and good hands. We'd expect him to make an impact out in the open, whether as a change of pace runner or as a kick returner. Seems to be biding his time until he becomes a bigger part of the offensive scheme.
  • Cabins, Balder-- LG: We think he may be a bit big to play guard in Goose Carneghy's scheme since it often requires the guards to pull or shift. Still, that he finds himself at the critical left side of the interior line proves his above average athleticism.
  • Calderon, Roosevelt-- DE/NT: Originally recruited as the Honu havoc-wreaker at NT, he proved in NSCF 13 that he is flat athletic enough to make the transition to DE. He'll see plenty of snaps at both positions, and it may not make a difference in the stat category which one he is playing from.
  • Cassiel, Hurisko-- RG: With Senior Victor Reyes ahead of him on the depth chart, Hurisko is certain to get some playing time early as Clement Acacia seeks to teach Cassiel the system. The bigger question is how long it may take for Cassiel to completely supplant Reyes as the starter, which we think might happen before Reyes graduates.
  • Castille, Aruba-- DE: Testament to Samson Fisafua's recruitment and development prowess, here is yet another example of a player who would likely get many more minutes for another school. Even so, he's going to make a number of plays, and will get his chances particularly thanks to Roosevelt Calderon, who despite being ahead of Castille on the depth chart will also be used to spell Laurent Delormier in the middle.
  • Clocktower, Phineas-- TE: This kid is going to special. We have him as an outside favorite to be the biggest difference maker on the Honu offense this year, and is going to create problems for clunkier linemen, shorter linebackers, and less physical defensive backs. We have him pegged as Levi Savage 2.0.
  • Cobbler, Augustine-- QB: Perhaps the biggest question mark for the Honu offensive unit. A better pure pocket passer than the exiting Ezra Talbot, Cobbler will get the start early in the season. It remains to be seen if a change from the more athletic Talbot will fit the design of a Goose Carneghy offense. We'd expect a short leash if he struggles in the uber-competitive Horizon Conference, possibly ceding snaps to Cyril Peregrine, who appears to be a better fit for the high octane Honu.
  • Cobblestone, Lucian-- DB: Among the lackluster defensive backs on the Honu D, Cobblestone may be able to pave a way to playing time sooner rather than later.
  • Cooke, Brigham-- RB: The de facto bruiser of the ground and pound team. We see him as a sleeper pick to get more touches than many analysts are projecting, as the Honu may need to shift their offensive strategy in regards to clock management. Could be troublesome to opposing defenses late in the game as a thunder change of pace.
  • Corona, Bartolome-- RB: Bartolome might be the heir to the crown in this linebacking field, but like any good prince, he's got to wait his turn. A run stopper first and foremost, he should get plenty of opportunity early in the base 3-5-3.
  • Crenshaw, Mojave-- WR: Though just a sophomore, at 25 he is one of the eldest of this Honu team due to a late enrollment after spending a number of years honing his skills as a tiki carver. This woodworking utilization gives him very good hands, and coupled with precise route running, he can make some impact on the field. However, his lack of improvisation when a play breaks down limits his potential upside.
  • Delormier, Laurent-- NT: The highly recruited Quebecois is, simply put, a behemoth of a man to gameplan around. A towering 8'3", he is going to gobble up the interior of the line and make it near impossible for opposing teams to run or pass up the middle. Though when recruited Delormier had plenty of height, his bulk was a little lacking for such a large frame. Say no more, as this previous offseason the team trainers went to town designing a diet and fitness program for the Leviathan. He's put on 45 pounds of muscle since this time last year. If it were up to us, we'd change his name from Laurent to the more appropriate "Intimidation."
  • Eider, Camerynne-- K: With the exit of longtime kicker Ranger Cisterns, Eider doesn't need a scholarship--she's already got a full ride from the South Seas women's soccer team. Teams that underestimate her small frame or exhibit a gender bias will be sorry. She doesn't have the leg for long distances, but she is incredibly accurate from 40 yards or closer.
  • Encarnacion, Rogelio-- RB: He can cut on a dime and has good hands, but his awkward size makes him hard to project. A small build on a 6' frame means he likely can't hold up to inner pounding but is also too tall to be completely elusive in the open space. Will be interesting to see how the Honu deploy Encarnacion.
  • Everett, Saul-- DB: The longest tenured of the defensive backs currently on the roster, Everett gets his chance as a starter not because he is particularly great but because the rest of the field is particularly pedestrian. As great as Samson Fisafua has been in recruiting for the front 8, we'd recommend that the Honu really look at investing in an assistant coach who has the ability to recruit and develop more consistent talent in the defensive backfield. Still, Everett should get plenty of looks as the more talented Lyman Orchards deflects opposing offenses' attention from the other side of the field.
  • Halemaumau, Tua-- RT: He's a RT as the team has listed him on the depth chart, but as the most experienced and (in our opinion) most refined lineman currently on the Honu roster, we don't think it will be long before Clement Acacia switches him to LT. Two years ago we thought Halemaumau might get an earlier shot than he did, but he just couldn't supplant either of the superior but now graduated Kanoa twins.
  • Half Dollar, Hiram-- P: His self proclaimed "rugby style knuckleball" punts should be entertaining at the very least, and if it works as he has advertised, may be a secret special teams weapon.
  • Hekili, Manu-- LB: His name literally means "Thunder Bird", and there should be plenty of thunder happening when he is on the field. Equal parts run and pass stopper, he gets his power more from speed than sheer size when compared to other Honu linebackers. He can make plenty of plays, and is likely to get in a number of sacks as well before the season is done.
  • Hobart, Obadiah-- DB: He's quick, and that may be the best feature he brings to the field. In multiple receiver sets, Hobart will likely be charged with removing the deep threat from opposing offenses. He's got the quicks to go toe to toe, but we're not certain he's got the talent to ward off every big play.
  • Hobbes, Azusa-- TE: Think of him as a hybrid of the two guys ahead of him on the depth chart. Salvador Sandoval is a better blocker, and Phineas Clocktower is the big play maker. But we expect Hobbes to eventually find a spot in the offensive rhythm as the piece in between these other talents.
  • Holycross, Sisal-- LB: Depth is an incredible thing to have, and the Honu have it in bunches at the linebacking position. Holycross may only be limited by his realtive inexperience compared to others at the position. Even so, he'll be one of the starting five unit on most occasions, and will get plenty of reps as a substitute in the sub 3-3-5 package. A bigger 'backer, his run stopping prowess should give him plenty of opportunity to carve out a larger niche.
  • Hurley, Sal-- DB: Though he spent his younger years riding the professional surfing circuit, he may yet find a home on this offense. Don't let this bro fool you: he's got a great work ethic which belies his laid back undertones.
  • Jesumbo, Adawale-- DE: Literal heir to the throne out of Congo and Zambezi, Jesumbo is an incredibly gifted athlete despite very minimal playing time in a nation that does not really follow gridiron football. With the exit of Wolf Valentine, the sky is the limit this season.
  • Kalalau, Gabriel-- C: Towering like the na pali, his superior footwork and long arms should do well to bottle up opposing interior defensive linemen once he is in the game. With his arm length as such an asset, we expect Goose Carneghy to really spread the offense once Kalalau takes over at center. True story: he honed his skills wrestling wild pigs in the back of one of Costa Aluria's lushest valleys.
  • Kana’i, Adriel-- LG: He's listed at LG, but he could easily slide into any interior line position and could likely hold his own at tackle as well. His versatility means he is likely to see the field often as he spells the other big guys up front.
  • Lazarus, Clive-- LB: The incredible recruitment class of three years ago is alive and well in linebacker Lazarus. He will compete for snaps, and the Honu defense won't lose a single step when he is out on the field. Depending on the variant of the scheme, he'll either be one of the starting linebackers in the 3-5-3 or one of the first substitutions in the 3-3-5.
  • Leroy, Jenkins-- DB: It might go without noting, but when you sport a pink feather boa, blue snakeskin jacket, mirrored aviator sunglasses, and a green leopard print mohawk, you just might be a diva. He has the potential to be a superstar if he could just elevate his gameplay to half of his personality. It is rumored that he originally requested the number "X."
  • Muir, Simon-- WR: It may take some time, but Muir should carve out a niche in this offense. We expect Muir to make a pretty good career on the outside.
  • Obsidian, Rudyard-- LB: There might be a thousand definitions of what makes a manly man, but we're pretty sure a lush, full beard fits with every single one of them. Obsidian looks more the part of lumberjack than he does linebacker, and let's be clear that he looks the part of all linebacker. With Gideon Ali'iloa now out of the picture, Obsidian becomes the de facto top dog in a crowded field of linebackers. We expect him to slide in as a near exact replacement.
  • Orchards, Lyman-- DB: Highly recruited to be the Honu next great shutdown corner, he's got all the measurables to be great at this level and beyond. While in NSCF Orchards was still a bit raw, with the departure of Jovante James in NSCF 14, the fruit is ripe and ready.
  • Pennyante, Reuben-- QB: He's athletic and may eventually be able fill the notably large shoes left vacant by Ezra Talbot. We imagine he's going to have to sit through some mediocre play from Augustine Cobbler and a potential change to Cyril Peregrine before he really gets his chance, but if Clement Acacia can develop him, he may turn into something special that the Honu can turn to in a couple of years.
  • Pentecost, Ezekiel-- RB: Will probably enter the season in a timeshare with Jonas Talbot, but may push for a greater share of the load by the end of the season. Watch him if he slides into the slot, because he might burn you on the seams.
  • Peregrine, Cyril-- QB: Should Augustine Cobbler struggle to produce in Goose Carneghy's scheme, Peregrine will be chomping at the bit to get out on the field and take the helm. More in the mold of Ezra Talbot as a dual threat option.
  • Pope, Cecil-- LS: How do you scout a long snapper? He certainly wouldn't perform too well if pressed into regular offensive line play, but as the guy designated to accurately snap 12 yards back? He checks the box in that regard.
  • Prefontaine, Laird-- WR: Borrowed from the South Seas Track and Field team, what Prefontaine lacks in size will be more than made up in pure speed and quick cuts. His speedometer means he is a homerun threat from both the short screen game and from sheer cheetah long balls, but if he gets caught in the middle, he may not have enough packaging to avoid breaking some dishes.
  • Reyes, Victor-- RG: He gets the nominal start based on experience in the system, but projects more as another stopgap after every single starting offensive linemen turned over prior to this season. Both incoming Hurisko Cassiel and current center Red Walrus might be a better long term fit
  • Sackcloth, Oliver-- RT: Sackcloth will see some time as he has shown himself particularly adept at run blocking, and we know Goose Carneghy likes to feed his running backs. He'll get an opportunity to set the edge for some pretty good runners in the next four years.
  • Sandbar, Elzavon-- DB: At 6'7" tall, one might wonder why he wasn't recruited as a WR. But that is the sort of thing that happens when you can't catch. May very well lead the Honu in passes defended without notching a single interception.
  • Sandoval, Salvador-- TE: Will take a back seat to Clocktower this year, but may find some work as a better pure blocker than Clocktower. Not necessarily a play maker, but will likely make a few big plays over the course of the year based simply on losing defensive linemen in the shuffle.
  • Scribe, Felix-- WR: Should be a solid, good but not great contributor in the passing game. Projects as a chain-moving, inside receiver who is unafraid to take a hit from a linebacker. His tough as nails mentality could serve a weaker WR corps well.
  • Seasalter, Bartemeus-- LT: We'd be surprised if he doesn't push his way into the starting offensive line by the end of the season, and sooner or later he will play a large role in shoring up the O-Line wall for whomever may be calling the shots.
  • Shackleton, Titus-- LB: He's got the tangibles and could make a difference sooner rather than later. Really, we should talk more about defensive coordinator Samson Fisafua, who despite playing second fiddle to one of the most powerful offenses in the NSCF, still manages to recruit such quality players for the Honu D.
  • Slatechrome, Calvin-- LB: Big, strong, fast--he's definitely got the measurables to succeed in a Samson Fisafua defense. The question is whether or not he will be able to make an immediate impact in what appears to a rather robust crowd. Still, Slatechrom and Titus Shackleton could be the dynamic duo of the next few seasons.
  • Talbot, Jonas-- RB: For now, the only Talbot left in town remains the nominal starter. His pass catching ability and speed have allowed him to garner much of the spotlight; the question will be if this impact remains with the exit of older brother Ezra from QB. While both are versatile backs, we expect Goose Carneghy to shift touches from Talbot to Ezekiel Pentecost.
  • Talionis, Lex-- LT: He may be more of a stopgap after the hemorrhage of offensive lineman departures, but he should be moderately decent. A true student of the game, he studies tape like a quarterback with his "get what you deserve" practice mentality.
  • Tasman, Asa-- WR: Big, strong, fast, smart. Ticks every box in that category and has all the physical traits to be a rare talent. The question will be whether the depleted offense can surround him with enough weapons to make him extraordinarily unhuman.
  • Ullysses, Grant-- DB: Even though he has better ball skills than Elzavon Sandbar and some of the other incoming freshman DBs, his small frame limits his upside in any jump ball or tough yardage fight. Sandbar will probably wrest away more snaps on size alone.
  • Walrus, Red-- C: This kid is tall enough to take on opposing nose tackles and he is a true fish and poi local boy. We expect freshman Gabriel Kalalau to push for playing time at center, which may find Walrus shift to RG as we aren't certain that Victor Reyes can keep that spot.
  • Whaler, Amos-- WR: Another pedestrian recruit, Whaler is more of a developmental project that is likely to see limited playing time this season, but may have better prospects in a couple of years after other WRs depart the Honu program.

Retired numbers: #4 Pelias Patras. Set the national collegiate record for passing touchdowns in a career(95), and school record for passing yards in a career(9,977). Is the only quarterback in school history to start every single game for 4 years. Only quarterback in school history to beat archrivals Loyola University-Istria 3 times in a row(coinciding NSCF 1, 2,3). Went to three straight national championship games(coinciding NSCF 1, 2, and 3) and won two national championships(coinciding NSCF 1 & 3).

Rivals: Currently the biggest rival of Northern Moravica University is Loyala-University Istria, who the Cougars have played once a season the last 55 seasons. All-time, they have played 69 times, with Northern holding a 37-30-2 edge in the series over their archrivals. These two teams have long been seen as the top two college football teams in Banija, and indeed, their stranglehold over Banijan college sports has continued, with Northern and Loyola combining for the last 6 national championships. When it was discussed for which team should debut Banija on the world stage for college football, it ultimately came down to these two, and after heating exchanges of words between both Athletic Directors and School Presidents in public, and the Mayors of Istria & Herzegovina City, the Banijan College Sports Group(BCSG) decided on a 11-8 vote to send Northern.

The other recognized rival for Northern Moravica University is Vietussia Academy. Starting in NSCF 14, the two teams will play for the Golden Axe. Seen as the top two programs in the Celestia Conference, they originally battled it out for the conference championship in NSCF 13, where Vietussia Academy swept the season series but Northern Moravica took home the conference championship outright. If one team sweeps the season series, they will take the trophy, but if they split, the previous year's holders will get to keep the trophy. All-time, Northern Moravica is 0-2 against Vietussia Academy.

Entrance: There is a unique stadium entrance at home games for the Cougars football team. A starting senior on each side of the football stands outside the tunnel, each one holding the school flag. They stand opposite each other with the flags lowered, and then raise the flags and let the entire team run through. After the team and staff runs through, those two starters run to the middle of the field and each plant their flag on the logo, signifying that this is their home field, and that they will fight to defend home field.

Head Coach: Alastair Jobs is 58 years old, and in his 17th season coaching at Loyola. The offensive minded coach has a knack for developing quarterbacks and has a knack to throw, rather than run, the football.

Offensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach: George Hughes is in his 2nd season as the offensive coordinator. He brings a pass-happy attack to this team, where they will be throwing the ball early and often, spreading out receivers. With his quarterback having 1 year under the belt we will see if the team will have more success than last year.

Defensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach: Joseph Lukwago is in his 4th season as the defensive coordinator, running a 3-4 defense.

Special Teams Coordinator: Isaac Lutaboke is in his 2nd season as the special teams coordinator.

How would one of Vangaziland's top gridiron schools fair against international competition? The world would soon find out.

Gridiron football was not hugely popular in Vangaziland. More athletes turned to basketball or some of the other sports like lacrosse or futsal. The local league, the Vannish Gridiron League, is seen as amateurish compared to some other nations.

One thing is for sure. There is no shortage of big players in Vangaziland. On the Imperial Military Academy roster, many of the line and big defensive positions were manned by men around 6'3 and 300 lbs.

"You can't teach size", said Captain Javi Franklin. "Some of our cadets are big fellas. A few of them are hoping to be seen by international scouts."

It is becoming a trend in Vangaziland for top football talent to find a spot on an overseas team. These large offensive tackles, defensive ends and linebackers are coveted for their size. Of course, cadets here with the Imperial Military Academy would have a complicated process to transfer to a foreign team. The player or the team would have to get a waiver from the Vannish military and pay off their military time. There are only a limited number of such waivers every year, as the Vannish government is pretty stringent on who even gets such a waiver. The government and perhaps Vannish society would look down on those who are outright trying to buy their way out of mandatory military service.

However, some cases are accepted. Sports starts can get waivers easily enough if they make their case. But cadets at IMA aren't here for basic conscript service. This Academy trains officers that can go into the Vannish Army or Marine Corps as officers. Surprisingly, it's easier for one of these cadets to get a waiver, because their 4 years here can be counted for their 18 months of conscript service. It's less about policy and more about a deal between the chosen branch, school and athlete.

Expectations for the Vannish team are actually running quite low. Vangaziland is in a bit of a lull when it comes to extra talented football players. Some of the players have stats that are pretty good. Nobody is expected to hit the field and really wow everyone.

The team won the VCA Football Division One Championship, defeating Overglade University in the finals. It was that win that sent IMA to NSCF 14. Several IMA Rangers proved to be quite plucky. Quarterback Don Adebaygo finished that game with 2 touchdowns and 235 yards. They ran the ball well, with Taye Poconos running for 92 yards. In the end, it was defense that really came through for IMA. They won 14-3.

Adebaygo has become better at choosing different receivers. He tries to keep things spread evenly. Of course, Tony Toucant is a big target at 6'4. He's also got the leaping ability of a basketball player, since he was actually recruited from a high school basketball career. Keeping passes headed to other receivers keeps the defense on it's toes.

Miller Keynote has made a few impressive stops, playing strong safety for IMA. He's a player who's planning to stay in the military. He could easily make it to one of the pro teams in Vangaziland and earn more money. He became an internet meme when he told reporters "I don't wanna be a football player." Of course the line was taken out of context. He meant to say that he didn't want to be a pro. But of course, the internet ran with the line.

Utica are likely to lean heavily on the one-two runningback tandem of de Jeruselem and Myers, who combined to devastating effect on several occasions last season. The monster Quebecois is complemented perfectly by the much smaller, elusive Aquilliano, and both are capable receivers -- particularly Myers, who excels at moving the chains on third downs. The offensive line is not as strong as it was last season, but Kendrick Lloyd's mobility means that a collapsing pocket is less of a concern than it might have been twelve months ago.

Lead receiver Carmelo Zayas possesses superb hands and a great vertical leap, but while he is fast, he doesn't have elite speed to stretch for deep balls. Instead, Christopher Stevenson is likely to be the main target downfield, while Troy Barnett joins Zayas in attempting to keep the chains moving by catching Lloyd's short, bullet passes.

Defensively, Sophomore Mailk Lewis fills a gaping void at free safety, where Andrew Hawkins once stood. The second year player is highly rated by Utica's staff, and has the tools to play a crucial role for Utica this season, providing he can stay healthy. Behind him, there is consistency in Marwick, and potential in Rodgers. Neither possesses both the quality and consistency that he provides, however. Depth at cornerback, however, poses no such problem. Should either Latemari or Hernandez go down, there is much less of a drop off in quality behind them. Davies, Parker and Bennett all possess experience and can slot in without much problem.

The Utica pass rush will look noticeably weaker this year, but that doesn't mean Foster, Nalatoma and Harvey can be counted out. Enrique Santana is also a threat, but seems likely to drop down the depth chart this year, as Jamal Cole presses a claim for a starting berth. Similarly, Isaac Watson will seek to push Foster as the season progresses, and the two could combine later in the campaign to form a terrifyingly effective pair of edge rushers. In the middle of the line, Ramaku'li and O'Sullivan are capable if nothing else. Arriaga and Marshall are not to be sniffed at, either.

If there is a weakness to be exploited in the Utica team, it is Contreras. The Tigers' kicker struggles beyond forty yards, and if teams can keep the Tubrissians outside that range, we might see more ambitious play calling from Channa and Hardison, and with it, greater risks, and more errors.

NOTE: Players in red are seniors, players in green are freshmen.

Utica Tigers NSCF 14 Season Preview

Anthony Channa's program excelled in OCGL competition this year, rolling to a perfect record in the regular season, en route to a mind-boggling twenty-eighth division title. Entering the playoffs seeded first, with Lucas Bryant under center -- backed up very capably by freshman quarterback Calvin Bennett -- Utica steamrolled their first round opponents, Burningham Capital, torching their defence for over 500 yards and five touchdowns in a wholly one-sided 48-7 win. Channa had little to say to the media, seeming less pleased than the head coach of a program recently named the multiverse's champions at collegiate level. "It's what we're here for," Channa stated, when asked his thoughts about Utica's dominant first round result. "We're supposed to be the world champions, but we're not champions of our own country? Unacceptable. We're going all out this year. The guys know what I expect. I know what they expect." Three games later, after defeating Greeningham, Firewood Tech and Mora, Utica had claimed a fourteenth national title.

No notable changes have occurred within Utica's coaching staff, with all the pieces and players from the successful NSCF and OCGL campaigns remaining in place. Offensive co-ordinator Alex Hardison has revealed his intent to retire at the end of the NSCF season, however, and Channa is yet to line up a replacement. "It's something we'll be looking at after the season. No point letting it distract us before then." Channa said. It is thought that quarterbacks coach Henri Toulalan is the favoured candidate, with former Utica quarterback Luke Saint lined up to return to his alma mater as a coach. "It's all up in the air right now, we don't know what's going to happen." said Ryan LaTrane, who leads Utica's recruitment efforts and has recently had his role expanded to involve him in the screening processes for new coaching staff. "It would be nice to bring Luke back after ten years, but he might want to focus on trying to get his playing career back on track. He's still only thirty-three, after all." He added.

Utica will enter the NSCF season with high expectations, as the reigning champions. "Nobody has managed back to back titles before," said Channa. "Would be nice to set history." At the very least, the Tigers will be expected to reach the semi finals of the NSCF playoffs, and failing to retain their conference championship would likely be considered a critical failure -- despite the strength of conference rivals St Croix. With the departure of several key players from last season, though, some have questioned whether Utica might be wiser to temper expectation. "Lloyd is a great quarterback, we've seen his calibre in OCGL and we know what he can achieve as a dual threat, with his athleticism. But there's a heavy reliance on the run game at the moment, given that Utica have lost all of their top receivers from last season." Explained OSN analyst Marcus Karrel, who feels that despite the excellent running ability of LeDallas de Jeruselem, Antoine Myers and Kendrick Lloyd, Utica are in danger of becoming too one-dimensional to be a legitimate threat in NSCF. His colleague, Rudy Sinclair, disagrees, though. "We can talk about the passing game declining since last season, but it was enough to torch two of the best defenses in Osarius, and win a national title." He said. "Then we have to consider that Alexander Logan, no disrespect, wasn't exactly an elite passer. Yes he had some very talented weapons, but so does Lloyd. More versatile ones, I'd argue. Four outstanding freshmen in the receiving game this season, and they all contributed heavily to that OCGL run earlier this year. It would be silly to count them out, and sillier still to think the guys ahead of them in the depth chart can't get the job done."

Anthony Channa's approach to recruiting is markedly different to his predecessor, in the sense that he rarely targets high-profile, blue-chip talents. Instead, Channa and LaTrane have a system of targeting players to fill specific roles in Utica's system, meaning they tend to pick up guys who have gone under the radar for most other programs. For example, local quarterback Calvin Bennett was listed as a high end two star, possible three star talent by most agencies, but after seeing him perform as a freshman in OCGL, he has been re-evaluated to 'probable draft stock' when he graduates. Some notable names were acquired by the Tigers this year, however, likely in response to the loss of so many playmakers from last year's team. Most notably, Marshall Eisworth and Allen Hargreaves III -- both of whom featured in almost everyone's list of the top twenty Osarian recruits this year -- and to a lesser degree, receiver pair Jordan Kennedy and Daniel McArthur, who have been widely identified as raw athletes with high ceilings in the right coaching environment... and it's hard to imagine a better coach for these young men than Utica's Antoine Caulfield.

On the defensive side of the ball, Channa and LaTrane have recruited several seemingly undersized players with good mental attributes. Channa explains that this is deliberate, and addresses a fatal flaw in the approach of many programs. "You can always help a guy get bigger, or faster, or stronger. It's a lot harder to make him smarter, and you can't teach instinct." Channa stresses. "We look for the guys who have the mentals, the intangibles, things you can't measure in a gym. It's worked out alright for us so far, I think." He's not wrong. Utica's thirteen consecutive playoff appearances in NSCF is unmatched by any other program. As are their three titles and five championship game appearances. The less said about their dominance in Osarius, the better. Most likely defensive recruits to contribute who fall under this "undersized" category are probably Jonathan Rodgers and Myles King. It goes without saying that they are special talents to merit a place in Utica's highly rated secondary, but neither has the size you'd ideally want from a defensive back in the modern game.

10th ranked Vietussia Academy poised to win Celestia Conference: Special NSCF 14 Preview

Image
Vietussia prepare for the NSCF season in their recent spring game.

Welcome to Hankow, home of Vietussia Academy and the site of the university's game in the latest NSCF season. It will get underway tonight, Vietussia already on the road, heading for Banija to play Loyola University, a much heated rivalry in the previous NSCF season. A good start by Vietussia, as they have surely learned by now, is vital to such a short conference season.

Vietussia had just wrapped up play in the World Bowl against some professional teams, sending the Vulcans to the tournament as representatives. Time will tell if that experience will boost or hurt the team.

This season marks the start of a trophy game between Northern Moravica and Vietussia Academy after Vietussia took both games and will start with the coveted trophy, now being called the Golden Axe. One of the teams must win both games to get the trophy, otherwise the current holder will retain the trophy.

If we are to be honest, we are to likely see another 3-way race between the two Banijan teams and Vietussia Academy, but look for Leopord Capital University as the conference's dark horse for the year. It will be interesting to see if the team can make any lasting impact and footing in the Celestia Conference.

In non-conference play, Vietussia will open up against currently unranked Imperial Military Academy from the Zephyr Conference in Vangaziland. It will be an interesting road game that, with a win, could help improve Vietussia's SOS.

Next, Vietussia will play, at home, against #9 South Seas University, an interesting and seemingly even match with both teams separated by one rank. This game could decide an at-large bid if neither team gets a conference title.

Finally, Vietussia plays newcomers University of the West of Ethane at Papa Vulcan Arena. This will assuredly be a test for the newcomers, one that could definitely turn good or bad quickly. Vietussia has some history with Ethane, clashing in the NSTT and NSGFA, so this game may have a silent rivalry in the background, one that could influence either team.

Vietussia will definitely have a fun season ahead of them, one that will assuredly have many ups and downs, but in the end, Vietussia will have their eye on the prize in their second season in the NSCF.

Projected Record:11-2 (8-2)

UVTV can project Vietussia will win the conference title with an 8-2 record and receive a perfect non-conference record. It would be Vietussia's first playoff appearance since moving up from Division II football into the NSCF.

From Hankow, this is Jeb Ports. See you in Banija tonight for the first game of the season.

NSCF 14 Preview for Loyola-Istria and Northern Moravica

Image
Northern Moravica's quarterbacks at training camp

ISTRIA- Just after the conclusion of the World Bowl, where Banija shocked the world by not only winning its group, but riding its top ranked defense all the way to 4th place in the tournament, the excitement throughout the country is higher than ever for this season of college football. The Celestia Conference seems to get more and more competitive, as Vietussia Academy, the main challengers to Northern Moravica for the Celestia Conference title last season, got some great experience playing against professionals in the World Bowl. The two Banijan schools and Vietussia Academy are set to be challenged by Kanza University, a Devontan school, as well as Leopard Central University, a Frenline Delpha school. The conference is set to be more competitive than ever, and it will be a tough race for the conference championship and that coveted automatic playoff berth.

Northern Moravica

This will be Northern Moravica's 3rd season in the NSCF. The motto for this season, as Head Coach Horace Browning told reporters, is raising the bar. Northern Moravica, by any definition of the word of course, has been very successful in this competition. As soon as they entered the competition, they went out and hired Horace Browning, then the defensive coordinator of the defending NSCF champions, to be their head coach. They made him a very generous offer, to leave the NSCF champions and come to a new school, that is entering the NSCF for the first time, but Northern was able to convince him that they would be committed to winning.

His tenure, like we said, has been successful. In his first two seasons as Head Coach of this team, all he has done is lead them to a combined 18-10 record, and has beaten schools like Utica away from home and Stoneshore College at home. Not to mention, of course, that both of these past two seasons have ended in outright Celestia Conference championships. With Horace Browning at the helm, he has formed a very competitive defense. He even brought the NSCF 12 team to the 28th World Bowl and led them to a 5-2 record at that tournament, and he was the defensive coordinator for the World Bowl 29 team.

Because of that, he is a very popular man. But Northern Moravica fans have been wanting more. Northern Moravica, of course, has a very high standard for success, and Horace Browning has met that. But the only thing Horace Browning has not done here, is win a playoff game. Of course, in their first season, they went to the playoffs wide-eyed, and it showed, when Northern Moravica got shutout. Last season, of course, was very different. They played Stoneshore College on senior day in Week 13, and found a way to win that game, but then they went to Stoneshore College the following week for week 1 of the playoffs and Stoneshore exacted their revenge.

Raising the bar, of course, means that Northern Moravica cannot only settle for a conference championship. But that is the path to success for this squad, and they have a lot of work to do. Their quarterback Slawomir Kovach, who led this team for 2 years, has graduated, leaving a gap at the most important position on the field. There is an open competition at quarterback, but senior Davorko Siroky, the senior, seems to have the inside track to the job. They also have to replace stud defensive end Momir Litvinov, who has been a terror for opposing quarterbacks since the day he set foot on this campus. With all the players that need to be replaced, and the Celestia Conference looking better than ever, this will be Browning's most difficult coaching job yet. We'll see if he can meet the very high standards he set for this program the day he arrived from Cosumar.

University of Loyola @ Istria

Loyola is looking at a very different situation from their rivals to the North. The Mormon school's team is led by Head Coach Alastair Jobs, who is 58 years old and in his 17th season at Loyola. Of course, for him, the situation is different than Horace Browning. Horace Browning has delivered two conference championships in two seasons in the NSCF to his school, and last year, completed the season sweep over his school's archrivals. Alastair Jobs, though he has coached here for almost two decades, is on the hot seat.

Would he get fired after 17 years? Who knows. But what we do know, is that Loyola fans like winning, and above all, they hate losing to their archrivals. And that is exactly what they have done the last two years. They have been a step behind Northern Moravica since Northern Moravica first joined the NSCF. Loyola did not want to join the NSCF, but they followed their archrivals to the Celestia conference. Last season, Loyola was swept by their archrivals. Then, to rub salt in the wound, Loyola finished in 3rd place in the Celestia conference, and, on top of that, never really competed for a playoff berth. They won the Pioneer Bowl against Vietussia Academy, which was a good way to end the season, but in this game, rivalries are lifeblood of this sport, and they are well behind.

Of course, the season kicks off quickly for Loyola. Their first game of the season is a home game against Vietussia Academy, who finished ahead of them in the conference standings, though Loyola did go 2-1 against them last year and won the Pioneer Bowl against that team. Vietussia Academy, however, has some very talented players who played in the World Bowl, and got some valuable experience there. Commentators said that experience was key for Northern players last season, when they came back from the 28th World Bowl and went on to win their second consecutive conference title, so look for Vietussia Academy to be the primary title challengers to Northern this season.

That game will go a long way in determining where Loyola will be on the pecking order in this conference. If Loyola can find a way to beat the odds and actually defeat Vietussia Academy, then Loyola will be in good shape to be the primary challengers for the conference championship. It is the opening game of the season, of course, and they are returning key players all over the field, but especially at quarterback. If Zervos spreads the ball around, he has talented pass catchers, especially his tight end Christos Cosse, who is his favorite target. But if Vietussia Academy, as expected, can come to Istria and win this football game, then it will be clear that they are still a ways away from challenging for a conference championship, and the hot seat will only grow even hotter for Alastair Jobs as fans yearn to defeat their archrivals to the North.

Uniforms: http://imgur.com/vROmkn1
Note: As with most Allamunnic gridiron teams, there is no designated "Home" or "Away" jersey. In the event that a lighter-colored jersey is required, the first or third uniform set is used. In the event that a dark-colored jersey is required, the first or second uniform set is used. Or whichever is necessary to avoid matching the other team.

Overview: Colloquially known as "I-U", Innusburg University has a reputation within the Allamunnic States for producing a disproportionate number of Allamunnic Gridiron League-ready players despite its relatively-small size (which helps . The private university, nestled in the Bluwaald Mountains in the state of Staalmark, is also renowned for the top-notch quality of its faculty and facilities, and has produced a number of famous alumni. The only real knock on the university's girdiron program is its lack of championship success; since the beginning of the program in 1903, it has only won a single championship in any Allamunnic college or minor league.

It is worth note that within the last few years, IU has begun sharing its city with an Allamunnic Gridiron League franchise, the Innusburg Huskies, headed up by former National Team defensive coordinator Elias Mourner. The Huskies share the Innusburg Civic Stadium with IU.

Offense: The offensive system is a nominally-balanced pro-style one, but in function, the team leans heavily on an explosive, vertical passing attack to make up for a somewhat pedestrian running game. The offensive line is solid, if unremarkable, and so the team is reliant on the big arm of QB Theo Rikken and the pass-catching talents of TE Jordyn Waalturs and WR Mikel Theodur, two big-framed, play-making receivers. That said, the offense lacks a particularly-clear, exploitable weakness.

Defense: The Barons utilize a 4-3 defensive system, although 3-4 looks are not uncommon, and nickel and dime packages will see plenty of use. This is a defense that is built to win up-front, on the disruptive talents of DT Kaarl Lukas, pass-rushing DE Margus Gustafsunn, and jack-of-all-trades MLB Rikard Andriks. The defense is, top to bottom, probably the slightly weaker unit due to deficiencies at a few positions, despite having some of the best overall players on the team.

Staff:

Head Coach: Viktur Kroemwyll (Age: 65)

Offensive Coordinator: Anna Aldermunn (Age: 42)

Defensive Coordinator: Erik Ward (Age: 43)

Roster by Position
- All players have listed: Roster Number - Name - Age (Class Standing) - Height; Weight - Team Grade*
- Listed in depth-chart order
- Team grade is a rating of player ability relative to their teammates. 5/5 is an impact/star player, 4/5 is a good/competent starter, 3/5 is an average player (borderline between starting and rotating-caliber), 2/5 is a back-up player, 1/5 is a developmental player.

Quarterback (QB)
#17 - Jana Kroedur - Age: 20 (So.) - H: 6’1”; W: 164 lbs - 3/5
#11 - Ole Grimmur - Age: 17 (Fr.) - H: 6’3”; W: 205 lbs - 1/5
#04 - Theodur Rikken - Age: 22 (Sr.) - H: 6’4”; W: 221 lbs - 5/5 - OUT FOR SEASON

Rikken, the starter, has a big frame and big arm that allow him to stretch the field and effective in the Barons' preferred vertical passing attack. He has a longer release that makes good protection a necessity. Kroedur is more mobile and has a quick release, accurate on short throws in a quick-rhythm attack. Grimmur is built largely in Rikken's mold, but lacks the experience necessary to be anything more than an emergency stopgap at the moment.

Halfback (HB)
#33 - Junn Ragnrsunn - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6’1”; W: 217 lbs - 4/5
#05 - Kyla Arnulf - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 5’8”; W: 157 lbs - 3/5
#25 - Erik Hendriklunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5’10”; W: 223 lbs - 3/5
#31 - Derrik Junnsunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5’11”; W: 215 lbs - 2/5

Ragnrsunn is a strong runner, although he is still explosive; that versatility serves him well as the team's featured back. While he's nothing exceptional, he's still good enough to be an effective offensive weapon. Arnulf is a speedier, explosive tailback who gets a lot of looks out of shotgun and in the passing game. She's a big-play threat at basically any time, but she's not strong enough to break solid tackles. Hendriklunn is even more of a power-back than Ragnrsunn, but this is tempered by a lack of explosiveness that makes him more of a ground-and-pound option than a real leading rusher. Junnsunn should develop into a very capable running back moving forward (and he's very talented all-around, if still quite unpolished), but at the moment is suffering from some serious fumbling issues.

Fullback (FB)
#35 - Waldr Vykkurs - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6’2”; W: 237 lbs - 4/5
#31 - Fredrik Andrsunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5'11"; W: 240 lbs - 2/5

Vykkurs is a utility player, capable as a blocker, rusher, and pass-catcher, and he will be on the field in most formations for the Barons. Andrsunn is more blocker than anything else, although, if his development goes as expected, his rushing abilities and rudimentary receiving will improve.

Tight-End (TE)
#41 - Jordyn Waalturs - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6’4”; W: 245 lbs - 5/5
#32 - Stevan Joynur - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6’2”; W: 250 lbs - 3/5
#80 - Arden Haekus - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'3"; W: 247 lbs - 3/5
#46 - Izaak Rikardsunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6’6”; W: 237 lbs - 2/5

Waalturs is one of the most effective players on the team: big, athletic, strong, and with an uncanny ability to make catches in and out of traffic. A complete, explosive player, Waalturs has received a first-round draft grade from the AGL. Joynur has made his bread primarily as a blocker, and while he's a competent pass-catcher, he will usually come in on rushing downs. Haekus is more of a jack-of-all-trades, in Waalturs' mold but without the same fantastic talent. Rikardsunn is very much a pass-catching tight-end, and his blocking leaves a lot to be desired.

Split-End (SE)
#03 - Kyl Myntur - Age: 22 (Sr.) - H: 6’2”; W: 209 lbs - 3/5
#86 - Piotr Korlunn - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 211 lbs - 3/5
#84 - Alexander Taalburg - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'1"; 203 lbs - 1/5
#19 - Mikel Theodur - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6’5”; W: 220 lbs - 5/5 - OUT UNTIL PLAYOFFS

Theodur, the son of World Bowl receiver Willy Theodur, is another impact player, a big-framed, reliable receiver with the athleticism to make big plays before and after the catch. Myntur is a reliable, workmanlike wideout. Korlunn is well-rounded, and will likely see playing time in reasonably heavy rotation. Talburg is a developing young receiver who is deceptively strong and shows a knack for making catches in coverage.

Flanker (FL)
#82 - Reena Johansunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 5'11"; W: 162 lbs - 4/5
#88 - Willem Dunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'1"; W: 195 lbs - 4/5
#13 - Emily Doermur - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5'10"; W: 166 lbs - 3/5
#24 - Karla Braandur - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5'9"; W: 152 lbs - 1/5 - Return Specialist

Johansunn, although a little shorter, has a knack for getting open and then making plays after the catch. Dunn, son of World Bowl & Rikardsburg Ironmongers receiver Mikel Dunn, is very explosive, effective receiver, although sometimes he has issues with drops in traffic. Doermur is very much in Johansunn's mold, an effective receiver who is good at making plays after the catch, either as a flanker or in the slot. Braandur is an explosive player who suffers from issues making catches under pressure. Her primary job is as a return specialist.

Left Tackle (LT)
#52 - Erik Baerun - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'5"; W: 305 lbs - 5/5
#61 - Lorne Ulfsunn - Age: 20 (So.) - H: 6'6"; W: 295 lbs - 3/5
#54 - Gaarutt Vaalhulmsunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'5"; W: 294 lbs - 2/5

Baerun is a crucial player to the Barons' offense, anchoring a competent offensive line on the quarterback's blindside. The athletic, versatile tackle is key to ensuring the team's explosive passing attack remains effective. Ulfsunn is a competent fill-in with similar versatility, although not as talented as Baerun. Vaalhulmsunn has a lot of growing to do, but has some good potential.

Left Guard (LG)
#55 - Bryndyn Ulryk - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 303 lbs - 4/5
#73 - Ruger Kromur - Age: 22 (Sr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 315 lbs - 3/5
#74 - Niklas Vlakos - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 274 lbs - 2/5

Ulryk is an above-average guard, capable of generating a viable interior push. Kromur is a little more of a pass-protector than run-blocker, which is why he's behind the more versatile junior. Vlakos has a well-rounded skill-set, but still has some learning to go.

Center (C)
#71 - Hendrik Wyrth - Age: 20 (So.) - H: 6'3"; W: 296 lbs - 3/5
#65 - Junn Nurmburg - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 289 lbs - 2/5 - Long-Snapper
#78 - Kyl Tarrunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'4"; W: 302 lbs - 1/5

Wyrth is a competent center, but he's arguably the weak-point on the line. He should improve with age, and his physical play isn't bad, but he lacks some of the necessary competence when it comes to calibrating blocking schemes. Nurmburg can fill-in in a pinch, but his primary role is as a long-snapper. Tarrunn probably shouldn't be playing at all, but he has the physical talent to be a very good center down the line.

Right Guard (RG)
#66 - Rikard Hendrsunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'4"; W: 310 lbs - 4/5
#64 - Kaarl Jorvik - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'3"; W: 305 lbs - 3/5
#68 - Erik Mueller - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 284 lbs - 2/5

Hendrsunn is a mauling guard who can pass protect and run block in equal measure. Jorvik is also very good, and has the potential to be even better than Hendrsunn with another year of training. Mueller is a capable depth player who may well see a little bit of playing time.

Right Tackle (RT)
#51 - Andrik Kohler - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'4"; W: 324 lbs - 3/5
#69 - Junn Fluker - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'5"; W: 303 lbs - 2/5
#70 - Soryn Wynturs - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 313 lbs - 1/5

Kohler is a road-grading tackle who can play as a lead-blocker in the run game while giving competent pass protection, but he can find himself outmatched by really good defensive linemen. Fluker is a pass-protection specialist, but has the physical talent to get a lot better. The same can be said of Wynturs, although he has further to go.

Left End (LDE)
#92 - Vitimir Thursunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 276 lbs - 3/5
#90 - Junn Vollmur - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5'11"; W: 280 lbs - 2/5
#77 - Graagur Urbyn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'5"; W: 274 lbs - 2/5

Thursunn is a capable, if unremarkable defensive end who can play the run and the pass with about equal effectiveness. Vollmur is a strong player who specializes in stopping the run, but sometimes has some trouble rushing the passer and is not terribly fast. Urbyn is a talented, rangy end who can fulfill both primary duties of the defensive end, but who still needs some polish.

Defensive Tackle (DT)
#53 - Kaarl Lukas - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'4"; W: 298 lbs - 5/5
#62 - Joerg Wyllur - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 301 lbs 4/5
#93 - Erik Strong - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 309 lbs - 3/5
#98 - Harald Izaaksunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'2"; W: 289 lbs - 2/5
#79 - Junn Rikardsunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'2"; W: 297 lbs - 2/5
#91 - Aldryk Lukas - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 286 lbs - 2/5

Kaarl Lukas comes from an excellent gridiron pedigree, and is a disruptive player on the defensive interior. Lukas has the strength to command a double-team on most plays and the agility to cause headaches to linemen. Wyllur is a capable complement to Lukas, although he lacks Lukas' same significant level of talent. Strong is primarily a run-stopper who eats up space on the inside. Izaaksunn[b/] and [b]Rikardsunn are developing as an effective tandem that can tie up blockers, stuff the run, and generate inside pressure between the two of them. Aldryk Lukas is the younger brother of Kaarl, and has similar levels of talent to his brother, although with little of his brother's polish. That will hopefully change.

Right End (RDE)
#96 - Margus Gustafsunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6’4”; W: 268 lbs - 5/5
#95 - Izaak Ludz - Age: 21 (Jr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 258 lbs - 3/5
#99 - Erik Lang - Age: 17 (Fr.) - H: 6'0"; W: 264 lbs - 2/5

Gustafsunn is one of the best players on the team, a foul-tempered edge-setter and extremely explosive pass-rusher who essentially requires a double team on every play. He projects as a first-round pick in the AGL draft. Ludz is less spectacular, but is a capable jack-of-all-trades who can hold down the right end spot when Gustafsunn comes out. Lang is a competent freshman who should have a bright future ahead.

Strong-Side Linebacker (SLB)
#45 - Jasun Shandlur - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'4"; W: 259 lbs - 4/5
#48 - Kevan Rillian - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'1"; W: 254 lbs - 3/5
#57 - Hubert Junnsunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 251 lbs - 2/5

Shandlur is a strong edge-setter who enables the other linebackers and edge rushers to do their work courtesy of his workman-like play. Rillian is built in a similar mold, but can't quite hammer opposing blockers the way Shandlur can. Junnsunn isn't much different, but he's younger and less-experienced.

Middle Linebacker (MLB)
#07 - Rikard Andriks - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'3"; W: 243 lbs - 5/5
#44 - Erik Faallun - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 245 lbs - 4/5
#30 - Erik Copperhill - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5'11"; W: 226 lbs - 2/5

Andriks is arguably the most complete player on the team; the middle linebacker possesses an excellent gridiron IQ, athleticism, lateral and forward speed, and the strength and aggression needed to lay a hit on opposing backfielders. He is widely projected as a first-round prospect in the AGL draft. Faallun is not as fantastically talented as Andriks, but is still a very capable jack-of-all-trades player, and he frequently joins Andriks on the field as a second interior linebacker. Copperhill is a little undersized for a linebacker, and in this regard he is much like his great uncle, a famously-undersized linebacker for the Corvik Huskaarls for a full decade. Copperhill has the speed to make up for his size, and he plays larger than his size.

Weak-Side Linebacker (WLB)
#42 - Lukas Katz - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'2"; W: 247 lbs - 3/5
#50 - Daanyl Boenty - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'0"; W: 248 lbs - 3/5
#58 - Gaarutt Lindstrom - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'3"; W: 237 lbs - 2/5

Katz is a quick player in pursuit that can seal off the backside and is more than capable of making plays. Boenty has the potential to be even better than Katz, and as-is rotates freely. Lindstrom is rangier and quicker, and although he's not as strong, has the ability to be even more disruptive if he gets off of blocks.

Cornerback (CB)
#12 - Kaarl Kleiner - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 187 lbs - 4/5
#27 - Frans Daanyls - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 5'10"; W: 202 lbs - 3/5
#06 - Hailey Umber - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'0"; W: 161 lbs - 3/5 - Return Specialist
#15 - Junn Tornur - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 5'11"; W: 192 lbs - 3/5
#14 - Tomus Rodriksunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 6'0"; W: 195 lbs - 2/5
#09 - Sara Korden - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5'10"; W: 163 lbs - 2/5
#34 - Alayne Wikersunn - Age: 17 (Fr.) - H: 5'8"; W: 152 lbs - 1/5

Kleiner is a big, athletic corner with the instincts to be effective even at the next level. He will often find himself tasked with containing an opponent's best receiver. Daanyls is a strong corner, if not quite on Kleiner's level of talent. Umber is a capable cover-woman, but also has the speed to be a kick-returner. Tornur isn't as big as Kleiner, but is a better jammer, but isn't as strong in man coverage. Rodriksunn is still learning a little, but has prototypical size and athleticism to be a great cover man. Korden is fairly versatile, like a smaller version of Kleiner. Wikersunn is a speedy corner who has a lot to learn.

Strong Safety (SS)
#22 - Graagur Wyndhorst - Age: 20 (Jr.) - H: 6'1"; W: 211 lbs - 5/5
#26 - Mikel Doenur - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5'11"; W: 205 lbs - 3/5
#29 - David Izaaklunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 5'9"; W: 194 lbs - 2/5

Wyndhorst is a difference-making enforcer in the secondary, laying hard hits on pass-catchers and playing up against the run. He has very good instincts and a nose for the ball. Doenur is a little more of a box safety, although he's still competent in coverage. Izaaksunn is a new recruit who actually plays a little bit of both strong and free safety. He's a little small, but he's still good in coverage, even if he's not as strong against the run.

Free Safety (FS)
#16 - Kevan Eriksunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 5'10"; W: 176 lbs - 3/5
#01 - Maria Jurgenlunn - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5'7"; W: 153 lbs - 3/5

Eriksunn is a roving last line of defense who is capable of making some big plays on the ball. Jurgenlunn is a pure ball-hawk, who suffers from some tackling issues. Izaaksunn is a last-ditch back-up for the free safeties, as well.

Kickers (K/P)
#02 - Skoda Arnsunn - Age: 21 (Sr.) - H: 5'9"; W: 168 lbs - 3/5
#23 - Maark Gruber - Age: 19 (So.) - H: 5'10"; W: 194 lbs - 4/5
#18 - James Faarunn - Age: 18 (Fr.) - H: 6'0"; W: 176 lbs - 2/5

[b]Arnsunn is primarily a place-kicker. She's pretty accurate out to about 45 yards, but gets pretty spotty beyond that. Gruber is a punter, and a fairly good one who has a solid leg and good placement skills. Faarunn can fill in for either in a pinch, but is a little more of a place-kicker by inclination.

QB#04 - Theodur Rikken - Senior, Age: 22; Height: 6'4"; Weight: 221 lbs - Hometown: Junnsboro, RU - Rikken was recruited from his sophomore year of high school onward, before committing to Innusburg two games into his senior season. He popped out on tape due to his big arm and exceptional ball-placement, as well as a steady head under pressure. Rikken sat on the bench for two years at IU before taking over as full-time starter during his junior year, during which time he broke 3,000 yards passing. Rikken is expected to turn pro after graduation, and is projected as a second-round pick in the AGL draft.

TE#41 - Jordyn Waalturs - Senior, Age: 21; Height: 6'4"; Weight: 245 lbs - Hometown: Skarrsboro, US - Waalturs played offensive tackle in high school, where he stuck out due to his exceptional athleticism and ability to get down the field on blocks. A few trick plays showcased his natural hands, and he was recruited as a tight end. He bloomed as a freshman, and logged consecutive thousand-yard seasons his sophomore and junior years (and coming within 100 yards of the mark as a freshman), an unequaled feat for a tight-end in IU's history. Waalturs boasts a very good connection with his roommate, Theo Rikken, which arguably helps them trust one another. Waalturs is widely expected to turn pro, and is projected as a high first-round pick in the AGL draft.

WR#19 - Mikel Theodur- Junior, Age: 20; Height: 6'5"; Weight: 220 lbs - Hometown: Innusburg, SM - The son of former AGL tight-end and national team wideout Willy Theodur, Mikel Theodur early on exhibited his father's big frame and natural hands as a receiver. Combined with an athleticism greater than even his father's, Theodur was one of the most highly-sought-after recruits in the country, and was won over to Innusburg University after Coach Kroemwyll promised that he would not be moved to tight-end. Theodur has been a key weapon for the team over the last two years, standing out as a freshman and logging 1,954 yards over two campaigns. Theodur has already indicated his intention to finish his degree before moving on with his career, and will return next year, as well.

LT#52 - Erik Baerun - Senior, Age: 21 - Height: 6'5"; Weight: 305 lbs - Hometown: Kynyksburg, SP - Baerun grew up dreaming of playing for IU (with his last name, the fit could not be more natural), and he shone as an athletic tackle in high school that caught Coach Kroemwyll's eye. Baerun has been a three-year starter, and over that span has only allowed four sacks. He looks to continue that impressive streak into his fourth and final year. Baerun is expected to turn pro following graduation, and projects as a second-round pick in the AGL.

DT#53 - Kaarl Lukas - Senior, Age: 21 - Height: 6'4"; Weight: 298 lbs - Hometown: Hendriksburg, OW - Kaarl comes from a family of AGL defensive tackles, being the grandson of Hall of Fame defensive tackle Jaarl Lukas, the son of all-pro Mikel Lukas, and the nephew of current St. Mikel Crusaders tackle Ivan Lukas. Since high school, Kaarl has flashed a disruptiveness reminiscent of his famous grandfather, and he wasted no time as a freshman coming in and becoming a centerpiece of Innusburg's defense, logging 138 tackles and 18.5 sacks over his first three seasons. Lukas came in with two other defensive stars, and along with them is generally considered a near-certain high first-round pick in the AGL draft.

DE#96 - Margus Gustafsunn - Senior, Age: 21 - Height: 6’4”; Weight: 268 lbs - Hometown: Helter, FY - Maargus Gustafsunn is perhaps the most-hyped Allamunnic pass-rusher to come out of the college ranks since Honorius Waalturs (who went on to a singularly-dominating 17-year career with the national team). Gustafsunn was noted even in high school for his rather vicious temperament and high motor, and he has spent his entire college career terrorizing signal-callers in the Federation, logging 37 sacks over three seasons and being a general menace. Gustafsunn has enough talent to warrant consideration as the top overall pick in the AGL draft, but his attitude and temper have made several teams wary of picking him too high.

LB#07 - Rikard Andriks - Senior, Age: 21 - Height: 6'3"; Weight: 243 lbs - Hometown: Dunnmaar, BW - When asked what a defensive star is like, many Allamunnae would visualize Rikard Andriks: a well-built, good-looking, strong, athletic, and absurdly versatile linebacker. Andriks, along with Gustafsunn, is widely considered a viable candidate for the top overall pick in this year's AGL draft, but rather than being due to overwhelming ability in one area, it's because Andriks is very good at pretty much everything. Intelligent enough to be a defense's cerebral leader, he also has the speed, laterally and otherwise, to play in coverage and rush the passer alike, the strength and aggression to hammer the run, and the charisma to inspire his teammates. Andriks is the type of player that makes an entire defense play better.

SS#22 - Graagur Wyndhorst - Junior, Age: 20 - Height: 6'1"; Weight: 211 lbs - Hometown: Aldhuld, PK - A second-year starter, Wyndhorst has proven himself a capable backfield enforcer, laying punishment on receivers and ball-carriers alike, with the speed and athleticism to make plays all over the field, even contributing as a situational pass-rusher. Wyndhorst is well-liked by a lot of fans, and he manages to keep a good attitude off the field even while playing aggressive and kind of nasty on it. It is currently unclear if he will return for his senior season.

I can't post a roster at the moment(I'll try to get one up in the next few days) but here's my first RP.
In Our Kisotan Fields - Prologue

TO: Coach Jesse de Jaager(headcoach@mjtech.edu)
FROM: Director Obari Abisoye(adOA@mjtech.edu)
SUBJECT: The upcoming season

Hello Jesse,

The season may have already begun domestically, but things are just getting started internationally and I want to review things before we get started with competing in NSCF. The roster this season looks underwhelming compared to what we've had in the past, but the whole athletics department is confident that we can punch above our weight and make a surprising run this season.

That being said, our strongest players this season appear to be those redshirt freshmen from last season. Cal Laramie at outside linebacker and Vadim Danshov at quarterback. These two are the future of the team and I want you to make sure to give them maximum playing time! I know you may have concerns about Vadim and his ability, or lack thereof, to keep a cool head under pressure, but his arm strength says that he's ready to become the starter. If you have any concerns, please bring it up at the next meeting.

I'm also happy to announce something that I would have told you about earlier, if I knew about it earlier myself. We're going to be welcoming a former member of our national team to the coaching staff, Taesha Kendrick. I know she's only twenty six, but her knowledge of the position of defensive back is second to none and she's settling down here for now until she can return to her home island. Again, I would have informed you, but this came as a surprise to me and we were offered a take it or leave it offer that we couldn't pass up. Taesha will be joining us after the first practice before our international opener.

There's also something else that I want to talk about. The athletics department was contacted by a few blokes from the Kisote State Police. They said that they were investigating the Eastern Brotherhood and that there was likely someone on this team with connections with that organization. You wouldn't happen to know about this, would you? If you have any information about that, we can talk about it when we have the meeting after the next practice. It may be nothing, but if it turns out to be a big deal, we need to work this problem out immediately.

So to recap, here's the goals for this season.

1: We want a conference title challenge, whether it's the Super Ten or the Mineral Conference. A top three finish in the conference is what we're going for.
2: Cal and Vadim are the future of our team. Play them accordingly!
3: We've lost a lot of coaching talent to the rest of the Super Ten. I want you to bring in some new additions before the season starts.
4: Eight wins in the Super Ten is the magic number to get the new stadium plans approved. Make it happen!

This will be a great season if you can make the above goals happen, and I have faith that you can do that. Please mention any concerns at the meeting.

Signed, Athletic Director Obari Abisoye.

(Note: I don't actually know much about football, let alone college football. Please let me know if anything doesn't make sense.)

Great Valley State University Wolverines

At the far end of the Great Valley, wedged hard against a bend in that indomitable river, is the quiet town of Rullet's Station. It is unremarkable in most ways - a mostly white, protestant population engaged in farming and the service industry. But open this town up, and you'll find it bleeds red, white and green.

Great Valley State University is the heart of this town - 13,000 of the town's 76,000 are students at the college; they come from all around the country to this isolated patch of Western Halleconia, to study amongst the pines, and to represent the Wolverines. The Wolverines are an institution as revered and respected as any in the land - it's star players achieve a bizarre form of small-town celebrity status, whilst its coaches posses an air more akin to those of a beloved TV orator. It is established much like a professional club: it has a significant fan base, merchandise, and more importantly, very real and very significant sporting infrastructure: Springhome Field is a serious stadium - 72,000 capacity, with a serious history: GVSU has played there for over 70 years, witnessing 4 HFCA Division I titles, whilst their community outreach programme is an integral part of the town's close-knit atmosphere. The coaches and staff are all ex-pros (and ex-pro coaches, as is the case with the current incumbent HC, Lewis Adams) and the facilities are first rate. Great Valley State is more than a college, and the Wolverines are more than a college team.

Because of the lack of a professional franchise in the HFL anywhere in Great Valley - Fort Sterling is the closest franchise to them, at a considerable 360 miles away - the Wolverines are the main sporting outlet for Rullet's Station. There was a short-lived Pro Hockey League franchise, the Rullet Rhinos, between 1990 and 1994, but beyond that, there's been frustratingly little action for this sport-crazy outpost. Enter the Wolverines. Established in 1930 as an agricultural technical college, Rullet's Station Agricultural College, the football team followed in 1936 and initially struggled through isolation and lack of funding. The team, to take part in the Silverback Conference in HCFA Division II, had to travel four hours by train to Fort Sterling just to be able to get to any of their opponents. But as transport infrastructure developed - Rullet's Station airfield was opened in 1961, and an old military transport plane was converted into the college's connection to the footballing world.

The college was given a state grant in 1973, changing it's name to the more indomitable Great Valley State University, and from there there was no looking back. It's enrolment reached 5000 in 1980, and they entered the HCFA Division I the following year. They were led in that first season by none other than Sam Ibarra, the quarterback of the famous Timbervale Buffaloes side which won the 1987 Championship. It took just three seasons, with Ibarra still at the helm, to record their first Division I title, beating Eworia State in a tightly fought 12-7 victory.

Success came again in 1997, and in 2003. A fallow period followed, overshadowed by the bigger, more appealing central colleges, but GVSU was never far from competing at a serious level - they reached the final of the HCFA in 2010 and 2011, with the famous photo of an agonising JP Travis crouched on the floor after failing to find the endzone after a legendary 73-year last minute drive against Christian College of Halleconia well-documented around the town. A reminder about how much it hurts to fail, perhaps, and a spur to win for future teams. That's what they did this year - they were simply unstoppable. A 14-0 regular season record, followed by a Quarter-Final slaughter of Rechlia State and a semi-final master-class against Pellbrock State and a shut-down of the University of Clifton, with number one draft pick Leo Fitzroy at the helm, in the final.

This year is interesting: they've lost 9 starters, 8 of them earning HFL contracts (and one, linebacker Sherwin Ackes, a PBL contract with the Stellian Hawks). Amongst this batch was calculated passer Corey Brais, now of the Wilmington Sharks. Brais was not the best, everyone knew that, but he had great eyes and a decent arm, and was carried by a clutch offensive line and dynamite receivers. He's gone now, replaced by 2nd year Max Vanek, over whom there are equal questions. But coming into their final college year, wideouts Rab Tomlinson and Ivor Kidd are looking to enter that next level of production. The final year batch has some potential sleepers in it, ready to wake: D-End Tom Kirchner has disappointing numbers for such a powerful player - his edge-rushing capabilities are considerable, but he needs that extra bit of determination to really become a great lineman. Also interesting is the ex-track star Darian Morris, filling in as a new running-back. He's yet to play a league fixture, but the coaches down at GVSU say he's the real deal: pace, agility and great vision. The defence is a solid unit - particularly the linebacking corps, which is explosive and heavy on tackle production.

Valanora Times
Raiders Look To Defend Title

The start of another NSCF season is upon us and as usual at this point, both Mar Sara Tech and Raynor University have entered into the fray of the international competition. This will mark the fourth season that Vanorian schools will be participating and they have quickly made a small name for themselves inside the competition, despite rumors of them withdrawing after a very tumultuous twelfth edition of the tournament in which there was many poor officiating and organizational errors both within the NSCF and the VSC as well. Some believed that entering into this competition had been a mistake, given the obvious physical disadvantages that Vanorian gridiron athletes have compared to their human counterparts.

However all of that seemed to be forgotten after Mar Sara Tech rose to the occasion last edition, after the VSC to give the tournament one final chance to be worth their financial backing, and wound up winning their conference. It was the glimmer of hope to the Raiders fans and alumni, as well to all of Valanora, that they were capable of competing well in this tournament but also have success. Yet with the way that university level athletics work, that success can not be held over from one season to the next, with each player reduced to but four years of eligibility. Mar Sara Tech will have their work cut out for them as they lost half of the receiving corps and over three quarters of their defensive backs due to graduation. However a pair of Quebecois recruits look to be stars of the future, even if they are not starters in the pre season depth chart.

One would believe that the biggest challenge to Mar Sara Tech's attempt to retain their conference title will be none other than their fellow Vanorians in Raynor University who bring back their entire roster from last season. There will be no need for Raynor to find an adjustment period like there is with the Raiders, meaning that they may even have the early advantage and line to the conference title. With the air raid offense that they employ, few can keep up with the offensive power and fireworks of Raynor, however they often score so quickly that it does not give their defensive half enough time to rest. The coaching staff has tried to simulate the speed of play in the preseason to get the defensive unit ready for such a task but no one can truly simulate game speeds or situations, so only the games themselves will show whether this Raynor side is ready to truly contend with the Raiders for the conference title.

The conference seems to be filled up this season with several new schools to the competition, which does look like it will be our squads who will have to be the favorites to win the conference. However Mar Sara knows very well how a new squad can walk into this tournament and give the older, more established schools a run for their money, as they did just that back in NSCF 11, though Raynor was not quite as fortune in the following edition. That being said, while it is fine to be precautious and take each game as seriously as you would take a title game, there is currently no reason to believe that any of the other four schools will ultimately be able to upend our two schools over the course of the full ten conference game schedule.

Which leads us to the non conference schedule where both teams have stacked their non conference with three teams that will give them a true test to see how good they are heading to the post season, be it the Bowls or playoffs. With the likes of Stoneshore, Northern Moravica, and St. Croix on the docket, it will be a fully entertaining but tense three weeks for the sides, at least when you look at what we project all these schools to be this season. However it is very rare that a season goes completely to script according to analysts, so while right now everything is looking roses in the conference schedule and treacherous in the non conference, do not be surprised at all if at the end of the three months the script has been flipped. That's why we play the game however, to prove others wrong and to win games, and both Mar Sara and Raynor are looking to win it all.

A Brief Guide to the Species of Yesopalitha, Their Strengths and Their Weaknesses

Following the devastation that the Irkan City earthquake left behind, and under pressure from various civil rights activists, Yesopalithan Universities have decided to allow all species of the Unbidden Free Republic to participate in sports, not just humans. Following is a brief guide about all the different species various teams are to face, their strengths, their weaknesses, and their tendencies. Don't worry, all species that eat/drink things that aren't normal food won't eat/drink from your players; they are sapient, sentient and very much in control of their facilities. Intimidation, though, is not avoidable at times.

Vampire
A Yesopalithan vampire is an interesting one; they resemble those of a classic vampire of lore, except they have completely mastered the need of human blood, and can subsist of animal blood. In medical emergencies, however, their bodies do prefer humanoid blood; there are a dozen blood drives a year where species donate their blood to the "Vampire Emergency Cache". They still detest sunlight, and can be blinded by it, but know how to tolerate it when need be. They possess superhuman speed and quickness, but are not very strong when reached. Vampires are solitary creatures in Yesopalitha, rarely living in groups of more than three; they prefer to work alone and be beholden to no one. In sports, they are best deployed in positions where speed and finesse are of the essence. Average Height: 6 ft Average Weight: 180 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Speed, quickness, elusiveness, footwork
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Tackling or any strength that involves more than immediate contact, teamwork

Dark Elf
Dark Elves, otherwise known as Night Elves or Drow, are akin to their more finer cousins, the Wood/Sun/Moon elves of Mystria. Their skin is a bit of a darker shade, and their eyes are of a dull shade of yellow from not seeing the sun during their years of banishment from the lands under the sun. They are slim but muscular, nimble yet strong, and taut as a bowstring. The years of imprisonment have instilled in them an attitude of us vs. the world, and they can be a bit testy to work with. They also tend to side on the side of logic instead of relying on their instincts, but are not shy to lay down their life for their people or their country. In sports, they are best deployed in positions where they don't need to coordinate much with others and make decisions on the fly. Average Height: 5 ft 9 in Average Weight: 150 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Tackling, positions where making decisions are important
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Teamwork, predictability

Wraith
Wraiths, or shadows, are almost incorporeal beings that can phase in and out of existence. They resemble hooded figures in cloaks and float off the ground. They can be very hard to grab because of their shiftiness, but they can be grabbed by those with superior reflexes or perseverance. In sports, they've been known as almost cheaters with their phase shifts; not many know that no matter how much they phase shift, a part of them must remain in order to shift back, meaning it's still very possible to bring them down. They tend to be a little more open to teamwork, but don't talk much, and lack individuality. It's hard to tell one apart from the other because they look alike. Average Height: 6 ft Average Weight: 100 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Elusiveness, shiftiness, hard to distinguish/see
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Strength, ball grip, can be confused even by teammates

Orc
Yesopalithan Orcs are gargantuan in their size, averaging nine feet in height and over four hundred pounds in weight. They are feisty and love to fight, but are loyal and dependent soldiers. Although as a race they are not very smart, those who have been accepted to the University level academics are obviously very bright and capable students; otherwise, they wouldn't have been accepted, as there is no such thing as athletic scholarships in Yesopalitha. In gridiron, they are usually used as battering rams both in offense as running backs and fullbacks and occasionally as tight ends or linemen and on defense as any position that doesn't involve pure speed, like linebackers or linemen. Average Height: 9 ft Average Weight: 450 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Strength, endurance, hard-hitting
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Smarts, quickness

Ghoul
Ghouls look like hunched-over humans with a demented face and an odd smell to them. They are distinguishable from their cousins, wraiths, because they can't phrase shift and are a bit more tangible. They can be a little mindless and monotonous, but whatever they are trained in, they do very well. In sports, they usually participate in target sports because of their accuracy in vision and their love of training. Tasks other species note as strenuous or tenuous ghouls find fun and routine. Average Height: 5 ft 6 in Average Weight: 130 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Positions that are monotonous
Weakness in gridiron football: Size

Shadow Rider
Shadow riders are humanoid beings that are a little taller and completely shrouded in darkness. The only light you'll see from them is from their eyes, which are usually green or blue and have a twinkle to them. Shadow riders are silent, fast, and deadly - they were originally used by assassins in the Dark Ages where Unbidden were neglected by rest of the World. The Riders are also muscular and possess remarkable instincts. In sports, they can play whatever they want because they have the physique for it. They are also natural leaders. Average Height: 6 ft 6 in Average Weight: 260 lbs
Strengths in gridiron football: Can play any position; strength, size, quickness, instinct, almost anything.
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Basically nothing.

Skeleton
Skeletons are... well, just that. Interestingly, skeletons are not made of corpses of other species in Yesopalitha; they are instead created from a mystical source of energy that scholars cannot explain. They resemble whichever species they are supposed to represent. In sports they can be very hard hitters because they are... bones. However, they are a bit brittle and can break. Average Height: Depends on species Average Weight: Depends on species
Strengths in gridiron football: Very hard hitting. It's like hitting a freaking wall.
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Brittle, lacks quickness.

Werewolf
Yesopalithan werewolves are true werewolves, beings that can change in and out of their form at will instead of just under the influence of the full moon. They do not fear the moon for they have mastered it; they have no need to bite humans because their offspring are werewolves. They are hulking beasts in their wolf form, with the quickness and instinct to boot; in their humanoid species form, they are a bit taller and bigger than the normal humanoid species. In sports, they usually compete in their wolf form, and rely on their instincts; if they need to play in a more cerebral position, they stay in their human form. Average Height: 6 ft 3 in (humanoid), 7 ft 6 in (wolf) Average Weight: 250 lbs (humanoid), 325 lbs (wolf)
Strengths in gridiron football: Instinct, speed, size, strength
Weaknesses in gridiron football: Lacks strategy, relies on instinct too much.

Head Coach: Mneskyorhai, Male Wraith, 621
Offensive Coordinator: Lenai Isahan, Female Dark Elf, 241
Defensive Coordinator: Shtrlli, Male Human Skeleton, 1013
Special Teams Coordinator: Pinnai, Female Ghoul, 42
Quarterbacks Coach: Tu'lak, Female Werewolf, 38
Halfbacks Coach: Grhl, Male Orc, 39
Receivers Coach: Kiniski Isipini, Female Vampire, 279
Offensive Line Coach: Corollo Lian, Male Shadow Rider, 351
Defensive Line Coach: Picol Lian, Male Shadow Rider, 351
Linebacker Coach: Vin'ti Tirinnel, Female Vampire, 281
Secondary Coach: Hnektioan, Female Wraith, 713
Kicking Coach: Luthw, Male Ghoul, 45
Team Physician: Dr. Pierre Thompson, Male Human, 47

Mneskyorhai leads this new, multi-species staff that has seemingly jelled pretty well together in the months that FAU has had to try to get the team together. Of note are the only twin Shadow Riders alive, Corollo and Picol Lian, who will be taking care of the different lines respectively. Pierre Thompson has two doctorates - one in Yesopalithan physiology and another in Yesopalithan biology. He should be able to take care of all the players, regardless of species.

Starters are in Red
#2 Knikolai, Female Wraith, 19, Sophomore - 6 ft 2 in, 102 lbs
#7 Lanai Isan, Male Vampire, Junior - 5 ft 11 in, 172 lbs
#8 Pikre, Male Ghoul, Freshman - 5 ft 6 in, 130 lbs

Knikolai gets the starting nod ahead of Lanai because of her tendency of knowing exactly when to shift and for how long that makes her very elusive. She knows that the system the Flames run will rely mostly on the rushing attack; however, she's not afraid of airing it out from time to time. She has remarkable arm strength for a wraith, being able to throw it downfield for fifty or more yards with a simple windup. Lanai is more of a traditional quarterback who's very quick with decision making, while Pikre is a rarity among ghouls for choosing to play quarterback. He'll mostly be watching this season. Expect Knikolai to play most snaps, with Lanai subbing in on rare occasions.

#24 Brihl, Male Orc, Senior - 9 ft, 425 lbs
#26 Ni'lai, Female Werewolf, Senior - 7 ft 6 in, 315 lbs (plays in wolf form
#25 Thomas Nixon, Male Human, Junior - 6 ft 2 in, 190 lbs
#28 Hkrl, Female Orc, Freshman - 9 ft, 380 lbs

Brihl and Ni'lai form the twin hammer battering rams for the Flames, simply bowling their opponents over when they can. Brihl is literally a player who will run straight at the opponent, simply running them over, while Ni'lai uses her quickness to get a boost and then runs through tackles. Nixon is the lone human in the backfield, but he's very elusive and good; Hkrl is a Brihl waiting to grow. Both running backs should average fifteen carries a game.

#18 Blinski Cthan, Female Shadow Rider, Senior - 6 ft 9 in, 230 lbs
#81 Tsihiniski, Male Wraith, Junior - 6 ft 2 in, 125 lbs
#82 Kreil, Male Ghoul, Sophomore - 5 ft 8 in, 138 lbs

#17 Nimslli, Female Dark Elf Skeleton, Sophomore - 6 ft 2 in, 120 lbs
#86 Arlaina Darleothon, Female Dark Elf, Junior - 6 ft 1 in, 168 lbs
#19 Or'kal, Female Werewolf, Freshman - 7 ft 2 in, 300 lbs (plays in wolf form)

Blinski Cthan is an offensive captain, excellent route-runner, and sure-handed catcher, while Tsihiniski is someone who can find that open spot in the field. Kreil is more of the possession receiver. When the team needs speed, Or'kal will go in; Nimslli catches short passes and runs, while Arlaina is very well-rounded. The team knows that Knikolai isn't likely to pass often, and that the receivers likely won't get many balls; but they're okay with that, to do what they are supposed to do in the game.

#88 Mnosh, Male Orc, Junior - 8 ft 11 in, 400 lbs
#87 Tosh, Male Orc, Sophomore - 8 ft 10 in, 410 lbs

Orcish players make great tight ends due to their strength, knowing how to run the tough short routes, maintain possession, and also block. Monsh and Tosh are stereotypical tight ends. Mnosh is a bit better at blocking, Tosh a bit better at route running.

#71 Kilme, Male Orc, Senior - 9 ft 1 in, 440 lbs
#72 Liane, Male Orc, Senior - 9 ft 2 in, 421 lbs

#66 Lthkithkik, Male Orc Skeleton, Freshman - 9 ft 1 in, 210 lbs
#68 Handel Iman, Male Shadow Rider, Freshman - 6 ft 6 in, 300 lbs

Orcs make great linemen. They're big, quick, and have an endless motor. Kilme and Liane are both seniors making their first appearance, and a bit nervous - but have the ability to do a lot with their size. Lthkithkik is waiting for his turn to rough up some opposing defenses, while Handel Iman is a very different specimen as an O-line shadow rider, something not commonly heard of.

#73 Munok, Male Orc, Junior - 9 ft 2 in, 421 lbs
#74 Kinak, Male Orc, Junior - 9 ft 5 in, 460 lbs

#67 Aniki Isanian, Male Vampire, Junior - 6 ft 2 in, 315 lbs
#69 Nurok, Male Orc, Freshman - 9 ft 2 in, 412 lbs

Two more orcs on the line. Munok and Kinak are run specialists, which means that when it's time to throw, Nurok or Isanian will have to come in. That being said, the push they can generate is pretty massive off the snap.

#75 Tinhe, Male Orc, Senior - 9 ft 5 in, 480 lbs
#65 Mikke, Male Orc, Freshman - 9 ft 2 in, 412 lbs

Tinhe is a pass-protection center who also has the push that all orcs have. He's the leader of the line, he's knowledgeable and he's hard working.

#50 Marquis de Laurent, Male Shadow Rider, Senior - 6 ft 2 in, 260 lbs
#52 Victoria de Laurent, Female Shadow Rider, Sophomore - 6 ft, 180 lbs

#56 Chilly, Male Orc, Freshman - 9 ft, 402 lbs
#57 Luong Garret, Male Human, Sophomore - 6 ft 5 in

Surprise! It's not all Orcs in the defensive line, as siblings Marquis and Victoria de Laurent have proven that they deserve a place. They aren't the strongest, but they use the Shadow Rider speed and quickness to take over the opposing line in a heartbeat. Chilly is an interesting product waiting for next year to take the traditional role, while Luong is pretty good, too.

#61 Battering Ram, Male Orc, Freshman - 9 ft 9 in, 500 lbs
#62 Anvil, Male Orc, Freshman - 9 ft 2 in, 460 lbs

#63 Pillager, Male Shadow Rider Skeleton, Freshman - 6 ft 7 in, 180 lbs
#64 Ravager, Male Shadow Rider Skeleton, Freshman - 6 ft 8 in, 200 lbs

Very interestingly named, Battering Ram and Anvil lead a stacked freshman class that will rotate in the game. They are both edge crashers who will attempt to go for the tackle and the fumble at every turn. Pillager and Ravager are rare Shadow Rider skeletons that tend to be a bit more dense and weigh a bit more than the usual skeleton. Expect all four to see play often, and hit hard.

#47 Jhtylai, Male Wraith, Junior - 6 ft, 110 lbs
#54 Nthil, Male Orc, Sophomore - 9 ft 2 in, 460 lbs

#48 Orion Ilarion, Male Dark Elf, Junior - 5 ft 11 in, 175 lbs
#59 Ilarie Inova, Female Vampire, Sophomore - 6 ft 2 in, 187 lbs

A wraith playing linebacker is an interesting sight, but Jhtylai makes it work with his initial contact and his sense of being. A very good cover linebacker, he's a bit worse when it comes to one-on-one teackle situations. Nthil, on the other hand, is the polar opposite, loving to blitz and hit the opposing fullback, running back, quarterback, or whomever has the ball. Don't expect to see Ilarion or Inova very often - Nthil and Jhtylai are very durable.

#51 Linkthe, Male Orc, Junior - 9 ft 2 in, 443 lbs
#58 Gruul, Male Ghoul, Freshman - 5 ft 8 in, 150 lbs

Linkthe is not your average orc; he knows how to read the field and react, instead of just going to the ball. He's the general of the defense, calling out audibles and whatnot while being a key cog. Gruul is a very able fill-in, known as a tenacious tackler. He'll look to play in special teams.

#23 Stilktk, Female Orc Skeleton, Sophomore - 9 ft, 205 lbs
#41 Nithil Sian, Male Shadow Rider, Freshman - 6 ft 8 in, 220 lbs

Do you know what it's like to be hit by a nine foot tall skeletal frame of an orc? No, you don't. And no, you don't want to. Stilktk is a sure, hard tackler and a decent cover safety. Sian is learning form her, although understanding there is no way that he'll be able to hit the way she does. Just try hitting a wall of bone. Or being hit by one. Then you'll see.

#31 Pariah Hillston, Male Vampire, Junior - 6 ft 2 in, 187 lbs
#32 Ki'lai, Male Werewolf, Sophomore - 6 ft 3 in, 190 lbs (plays in human form)

Pariah Hillston is a no-nonsense type of guy who'll always make the best decision available to him. Don't try to trick him, just go fair and square and maybe you'll win. Ki'lai is a rarity among Werewolves because he prefers to play in human form to notice patters and not just rely on instinct. He is the first of his species to do so.

#27 Frilli Inihaian, Female Dark Elf, Senior - 5 ft 10 in, 165 lbs
#29 Naiae Elkeni, Female Dark Elf, Senior - 5 ft 10 in, 150 lbs

#42 Canti Isyaohauf, Male Vampire, Freshman - 6 ft 2 in, 200 lbs
#44 Marcus Potterham, Male Human, Freshman - 6 ft, 196 lbs

Two female dark elves will play corner for the Flames this season. Inihaian is a ball hawk, but a little aggressive in jumping routes; Elkeni plays it a bit more safe by playing close to the line and tackling when the catch is made. Isyaohauf is the nickel corner when needed. The Flames use more safeties if they need more than five in the secondary instead of deploying four defensive backs.

#1 Nukwt, Male Ghoul, Senior - 5 ft 8 in, 125 lbs

Is it any wonder that it's the ghouls taking care of the kicking positions? Not really. They're almost automatic. Nukwt even has the leg strength to go with that consistency, and he'll almost never miss.

#4 Tilwk, Male Ghoul, Freshman - 5 ft 7 in, 123 lbs

Is it any wonder that it's the ghouls taking care of the kicking positions? Not really. They're almost automatic. Tilwk has both the leg for strength and for position.

#19 Or'kal, Female Werewolf, Freshman - 7 ft 2 in, 300 lbs (plays in wolf form)

Or'kal will take all returning duties due to her insane speed. Enough said? Enough said.
