Imperial Cup, Eastern Group

Ross United 6-0 Lusila SC

Underfell FC 1-2 Hunsen Loggers

Before the Campionato Esportiva, Isa Tangemen made her Ross United debut in the Imperial Cup, and made four saves to keep a clean sheet against a weaker Lusila side. Milan Toure also made his debut and played deep behind Lily Cress at center fielder, with Kat Bonner and Diasakos playing as inside forwards. Draga Schraeder, who has reportedly fell out of favor with Thane Hull because of her inability to play as a true striker, played next to Toure but kept herself deep for most of the match. Toure opened scoring with a free kick goal, and put the second goal of the game into the net off of a deflection, inside of the first twenty minutes. Lily Cress then scored her first Ross United goal when she received a through ball from Schraeder and ran around the keeper to tap it in. The last three goals were provided by Bonner(67 and 72), and by young subsitute midfielder Kyle Jankovic(92), who made his senior debut at the age of eighteen and scored with a curling shot from the top of the box.

In Underfell, the home team was shocked by the new Valerian champions, despite Zahara Santana scoring a first half chip goal on her debut with the club. Hunsen lacked a true center forward, but started Audra Jaakola in that position and focused on controlling the midfield. New signing Reina Toure, the younger sister of Milan, filled in for the injured Alysha Hakala on the wing and put in two shots from close to the net, beating her former Hawks teammate Destiny Bergran by her near post twice in the fiftieth and seventy fourth minutes. Underfell had bad morale from the end of last season, and Hunsen made them pay for it.

Now, Lily Cress will face her former team, and Milan Toure will face his sister, in the final of the eastern group, to decide who advances to the final to face the winner of the west.

Ross United 1-0 Hunsen Loggers

On a cold and rainy night in the city of Ross, the defending Superleague champions proved to everyone that they're the best. They very nearly opened by conceding to Reina Toure, who made a counter attacking run past both center backs and cut inside, but Isa Tangemen turned the shot off of the post and allowed her defense to recover it. She was forced into another save in the tenth minute, when Bisera Haralampieva took a long shot when she was too far out, forcing her to run back and tip the ball over the bar. Tangemen was furious at the defense, and had to be calmed down by Milan Toure when she yelled at them during the next stoppage.

Both defenses would settle into the match more, but the breakthrough came in the second half, the eightieth minute in particular. Lily Cress unnerved the Hunsen center back, Shae Victoria, by saying something to her during a corner kick, and then jumped over her back to head the ball towards goal and allow Kyle Jankovic to tap the ball past Jesse Kantore. Victoria collapsed in tears after allowing the goal, and then was pulled out of the match by her manager.

Cress, who has been a hit so far with United fans, refused to comment on what she said to her former teammate with Hunsen and AC Piranha. "I did what I had to do to win," she said in the postmatch press conference. "If Hunsen fans think I was dirty... Oh well."

Real Barriga 4-0 Ferraria United

Sporting Club Escane 2-1 Xera Bay United

United Riego 0-1 Athletic Juataba

AC Valpalma 3-6 AC Piranha

The Western group of the Imperial Cup started, and most of the wins happened just about as expected. Real Barriga had home advantage against the smaller of the two Ferraria teams, and quickly put them to the sword when Celso De Soto made two powerful runs through the defense and slotted in quick shots in the 12th and 36th minutes, and they removed all doubt in the second half when Che Aguerez curved in a free kick and Xenon Borrero tapped in a rebound from a De Soto shot. The match was never in doubt, and the goal for Barriga is definitely to make it to the final.

Sporting Club Escane is going through trouble related to the Sami Haawk scandal, as their striker Joanna Danicic(Haawk's girlfriend) and their star attacker Mila Blazic were sold after the season to avoid having to pay their contracts if they are prosecuted. However, they managed to recover and get a tough comeback win against Xera Bay United. Eighteen year old Xera Bay starlet Maura Vera opened scoring in the 49th minute after passing the ball away to her winger and making a run, and then receiving the ball inside with her back to the net and turning to place a shot past the inexperienced keeper Andres Markovic. Escane wouldn't stay down for long, because they scored in the 55th minute after Karlene Sitz headed in a corner kick, and they took the lead in the 78th when Aleixo Delgado, Danicic's replacement striker and a twenty four year old two million mark signing from San Vincent CF, put in a direct free kick from twenty five yards out.

United Riego's scoring didn't show up, and all it took was one good moment for their opponents to defeat them. In the 32nd minute, Maurico Jaco made a save but couldn't control the ball, and the ball was walked right into the back of the net by Jauataba's winger. Tyler Inciarte tried to equalize in extra time, but the ball went just wide of the net when he had a wide open angle after barely managing control of a through ball. Ortega led the team with four shots on goal, but three of them went directly into the hands of the keeper.

Real Barriga 3-0 Sporting Club Escane

Athletic Juataba 0-5 AC Piranha

The semifinals of the Western Group provided no surprises, as the stronger teams on paper came out with dominant wins. Real Barriga had a Celso De Soto brace with goals in the 20th and 25th minutes, and then capped off the scoring in the 49th minute when Lana Campilla knocked in a loose ball after a corner kick. Escane was low on morale with the scandal surrounding Joanna Danicic and Mila Blazic, and without their best players, they quickly folded and showed that they didn't have the mental strength to win this huge match on the road.

AC Piranha was the lower seed, but most experts ranked them higher because of their numerous young talents and free flowing attacking play. Piranha relies on playing samba football with no true formation, and their midfield dominated as Juataba's players couldn't figure out who they were supposed to be marking. Twenty four year old defensive midfielder Jesus Cubilla sent passes all over the pitch and stretched the defenders with his many runs throughout the match, and finished with three assists. Cubilla is rumored to be a transfer target for Territory Nine's Monarch Rozada, and won his second MOTM in the Imperial Cup.

Real Barriga 1-1 AC Piranha (1-2 AET)

Samba football carried Atletic Club de Piranha to the final of the west, and now it led to them shocking the world in extra time by upsetting the giants from the Territory Nine capital. Piranha's formationless football was considered a gimmick by many, that wouldn't work against the biggest clubs in the Empire, but most detractors now look silly after they dominated possession against Barriga while playing an updated version of the 2-3-5. Two center halves started in defense, while Jesus Cabilla played above them as a half-back, and two wide 'fly-halves' started next to him. Above them was a ferocious front line led by skillful winger Juninha Rivero, starting in the match at only nineteen years old, and playmaking twenty six year old central forward Alvin Escelara. Escelara scored the equalizer in the 80th minute after Real Barriga's Xenon Borrero scored on a deflected cross, and the winner came in the 102nd minute and was put in by Juninha after a run through all four Barriga defenders.

Now, the upstarts will go against the capital, and the samba football of the west will face the structured, highly tactical schemes of the east. Ross United looks to do the double in the league and Imperial Cup for the first time, while AC Piranha is searching for their first title in many years.

IMPERIAL CUP: GRAND FINAL

Ross United 2-1 AC Piranha

The run of the Samba Fish is over, as the clash of styles ended with Ross United doing the double. They took home their second Imperial Cup on a freezing night in uptown Ross, where the weather shocked the opposition and led them to a very slow start. Ross United drew first blood when Kyle Jankovic, who has become a major player in the Imperial Cup run, played a long ball to Andros Diasakos and allowed him to cross over a Piranha center back for an open look on goal. Andros shot an scored with a powerful blast to the corner, and only eighteen minutes in, United had the lead. Piranha fought hard to stay in the match, but their attack wasn't as potent as previously, and the Ross defense kept their front five from controlling possession in the Ross third.

The equalizer didn't come until the 65th minute. Isa Tamgemen had been playing a great game so far, saving five shots(three from set pieces) and making long passes downfield to set up the counter attacks, but she rushed out to stop an attack and lost a one on one battle with Juninha, who kept control of the ball and went around her for an easy tap in.

Ross United nearly blew the game in the late minutes, allowing Escelara to take a long shot from thirty yards out that Isa deflected towards the corner, but then, magic happened. Jankovic cleared the ball deep to Milan Toure, who cut inside and held the ball before playing it to the wing for Katarina Dana Bonner, who got stuck at the corner flag but nutmegged her defender and crossed the ball inside, where Diasakos was waiting inside the box. Andros headed the ball down and calmly and smoothly finished in the second minute of extra time, causing the stadium to erupt.

Juninha made one more great run towards the end, but she placed her shot wide and it rolled harmlessly out of bounds, and the final whistle blew shortly afterwards, completing the historic season for Ross United and seeing them finish as champions of the Empire in the league and the cup.

"This was a great win for us and a great way to cap off a dominant season," said Thane Hull afterwards. "We switched tactical styles and showed a bit of what we're doing next season, and the team adapted seamlessly. I'm very proud of them, because they showed their adaptability and they showed that they can beat any style of opponent. Piranha had a good run, but now everyone knows that we truly are the best team in the Empire, and we're going to be the one to beat again next season."

IMPERIAL SUPERLEAGUE SEASON TEN PREVIEW PART ONE: THE CONTENDERS

The Imperial Superleague revolutionized football in the Empire by creating a league truly representative of Greater Anglatia, that includes teams from multiple continents, spread across two divisions of the best of the best. The ninth season of the Superleague saw Ross United defend their title after a near complete rebuild, and saw Thane Hull recognized as one of the best managers in the league once again, and also saw Bathgate City fall from grace completely. Underfell also had a disappointing season, though their strong offseason should prevent that from happening again. In the second division, South Valeria still has a strong roster despite being in the middle of a warzone, and Athletic Club City is joining as a protest club against the Muerig Group's ownership over Bathgate. There's plenty of narratives in the tenth season, and all of them will help with making this special season more exciting than any in the past.

ROSS UNITED
Manager: Thane Hull(41)
City: Ross, Anglatia
Colors: Royal blue and black
Nicknames: The Blues, The Knights, The Ross Circus(used by detractors, or used sarcastically by fans), Moneybags FC(by detractors)
Notable Players: FW Andros Diasakos(27), FW Milan Toure(28), GK Isa Tangemen(22), CAM Draga Schraeder(20), RW Katarina Dana Bonner(22), ST Lily Cress(19), CM Viktor Tomasson(28), CB Lukas Aukland(24), ST/W Jenna Santana(19)

Ross United is just as much of a powerhouse as the city it represents, and Ross supporters should have a fun time this season. After letting Bianka Schraeder walk and making a good profit on Carlito Traoe, the Blues signed Calovice star midfielder Viktor Tomasson for eight million marks and Real Mezana center back Lukas Aukland for two million. Eli Shan walked after his contract was up, and his replacement is the ten million mark signing, Isa Tangemen. Surprisingly, she's not the most expensive one. Lily Cress signed from the Valerian champion Hunsen Loggers for twelve million, and has a four year deal with the club. Both Tangemen and Cress are extremely talented players with personality issues, but Hull managed to keep egos under control last season when a number of star forwards were competing with each other for spots.

It's looking like the attack will line up differently this year, with Diasakos playing left wing, Bonner opposite to him, Milan Toure playing deep behind Lily Cress, and Draga Schraeder playing as a roaming center fielder. Schraeder has went through a falling out with Hull, and is unsettled, but United won't let her go because no offers have come in that equal her value according to them. Lukas Aukland is going to be heavily relied upon in an inexperienced defense, and the Real Mezana prospect was chosen because of his lethal combination of size and speed. Tactically, Ross will return to their high pressing style that minimizes opponent time on the ball and takes the attention away from their shaky defense. The defending league and Imperial Cup champions are 3-1 favorites to go for their third straight title.

UNDERFELL FC
Manager: Stefan Johanneson(33)
City: Underfell, Valeria
Colors: Black and red
Nicknames: Rodsvart, The Mountaineers, The Westsiders, Underfail(by rivals)
Notable Players: ST Aysu Teke(21) LW Zahara Santana(20), FB Ake Gustafsson(21), CM Kjell Sigfrid(20), CB Amy Abramsen(27), CAM Gunnar Staffard(19), CB Bozidar Pavlovic(19), FB Arcadius Matkovic(21), Jakub Simic(20)

One of the youngest but best teams is Underfell. Their striker, Aysu Teke, had a monster season and finished second in scoring. Their winger, Zahara Santana, was bought for a record fee of twenty six million marks and is believed to be the future of the national team because of her skill on and off the ball as well as her playmaking. Even after that massive fee, Underfell wasn't done spending. They bought Bozidar Pavlovic out of his one year waiting period after leaving Evolucion, for six million marks. To strengthen the fullback position, they also signed Arcadius Matovic of the Imperial Amateurs for free, and the young back should start soon after learning from more tactically experienced players.

Underfell's big transfer window also means large expectations, and not just from the fans. Jan Oliversson, the team owner and the oil lord that owns Underfell Bank, expects them to finish in the top two and win the Imperial Cup after last season's embarrassing loss in it. While Oliversson spends big, he still takes care of his academy players. The fulcrum of the midfield, Kjell Sigfrid, is returning to the team from loan with one of the farm teams, and now he starts in the center of the formation, with fellow academy prospect Gunnar Staffard next to him. There's no true weak spot to this team, except for goal, and that's why they're so dangerous. Underfell's fanbase should also have several notable clashes with other fans this season, for political reasons. Underfell is the home of the far right movements in Valeria(and has many fans who are straight up white supremacists), while their rivals from Calovice are from the home of the Valerian Socialist Party.

BATHGATE CITY
Manager: Fabrico Holguin(73)
City: Bathgate, Anglatia
Colors: Claret and cyan
Nicknames: City, The Slag, The Steamers
Notable Players: RW Cristobal Vallejo(23), LW Juninha(19), ST Maura Vera(18), FB/W Joao Francis Inciarte(26), ST Celso De Soto(27), DM Jesus Cubilla(24), GK Steph LaCroix(20), DM/CM Jahni Fernandez(18), CB Emeric Bastien(28)

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and that means that Finn Muerig sacked Brandon Tjaeder after a single season before rebuilding the roster to look more like a Portuguese outpost. Much of this roster is new in an attempt to build a contender again, and many players had high fees such as Vallejo(18m), Juninha(13m), Vera(15m), JFI(25m), and Cubilla(6m). Bathgate spent 77 million marks in total on this window, not including the four million spent on the release clause of their coach's contract. Their lineup this time around should be based around the wings, where they excel compared to most other teams, and the new strikers will be under immense pressure. The talent drain that cost them Marco Saint Paul should stop here, and Jahni Fernandez and Emeric Bastien join from the farm system. Muerig has said that he expects to win the Imperial Cup, but with the main fan group, the Iron City Army, having left because of his leadership, that's going to be a bigger challenge than expected. And that's not mentioning the Sami Haawk murder trial that's forcing them to get rid of their leading scorer last year.

OOC: Just as a note, I messed up some things in the Superleague and in some RPs. Xera Bay United is meant to be Xera Bay Sporting, Xera Bay United is a lower league side. Also, Athletic Piranha is meant to be Piranha Athletic, to differentiate it from the Serie One's AC Piranha. The names will be fixed this season.
PART TWO: THE MID TABLE

CALOVICE SPORTING
Manager: Rakel Teixiera(40)
Colors: White and blue
Nicknames: The Snowflakes, The Lilywhites
Notable Players: CAM Zoran Michel(26), CM Tilo Abramsson(29), CM Conall O'Hara(24), RB Reka Bacsik(30)

The team that finished second last season lost their second best midfielder and failed to complete several transfers. Bianka Schraeder declared her intent to sign there, before promptly being lured back to Kawajiri, while Viktor Tomasson was drawn to the chance of playing for a winner. Even without Tomasson, the midfield is still strong, and Michel is expected to move up to fill his former teammate's role as central playmaker.

Zoran Michel is something of an enigma. The tall and athletic midfielder has all the talent in the world, and has a world class understanding of space, but has never had major success in his career. This is the year is contract expires, and if it expires without him winning a title, he's likely to take his talents to Real Barriga to return to a Spanish speaking team and contend for a rare trophy. Michel is also a great friend of Milan Toure and could possibly join Ross United to play with Toure. Some outlandish theories from social media have also linked him to Ludogorets Markovsky, because of his former girlfriend playing there. Playing next to him will be national team member Conall O'Hara, who doesn't have amazing speed or good size, but has a good sense of space and a major talent for pinpoint passing. Behind both of them will be Reka Bacsik, who finally showed up in Calovice after allegedly being involved with the fire that burnt down the stadium of the Hunsen Loggers. Bacsik was released from her contract and has denied all wrongdoing, despite some of her former teammates saying otherwise.

In recent years, the team has embraced the liberal reputation of the city(even signing several South Valerian players), which has reignited their rivalry with Underfell. Now, the meetings between the two teams are known as the Kusten(coast) Derby, because of each city's location on the opposite coasts of Valeria, and the matches regularly get heated.

VALERIA IK
Manager: Cyril Adamczak(40)
Colors: Navy blue and gold
Nicknames: The Eastsiders, The Nomads, The Jacks
Notable Players: Quinn Votto(20), Alakare Abbey(24), Ryoto Taguchi(21), Samuel Ruiz(19), Ethan Mariane(31)

The East Underfell based side is potentially the most hated team in the area, because of their dodgy move to Underfell for TV money. VIK was originally Hunsen IK, but about eight years ago, they realized that the league wanted another team in Underfell, and they sold their stadium and left the Valerian First Tier. However, they've done pretty bad against the higher level of competition. In their eight years, they've been relegated twice, adding to their reputation as a yo-yo club and furthering the nation's dislike for them.

But this year, they might actually be good. They've added winger Ryoto Taguchi from their nemesis, the Hunsen Loggers, and Samuel Ruiz from Evolucion B. Ethan Mariane also joins from Montanes to add some depth to their midfield, and Mariane and Ruiz are expected to play in a pivot in a 4-2-4 led by Votto and Taguchi on the wings. With two fast wingers who are clinical finishers, they'll have a nice counter attack and should easily finish higher than last season, maybe even in Imperial Cup places.

ATHLETIC SUNGRI
Manager: Ekana Bohra
Colors: Forest green
Nicknames: Big Green, The Serpents
Notable Players: GK Eli Shan(32), CB Bakul Chandara(20), LB Felixe Madeiros(29), DM Chakor Chakyar(23), ST Datta Emani(26)

Nobody has more to gain or lose this season than Sungri. Located in one of the largest cities in the Empire, Athletic Sungri always has high demands as the sole representative in the Imperial Leagues of the Baratstani people. In fact, because of this high demand, they're moving this season into the new SungriCom Stadium, which has room for 101,000 fans and has a terrace that can hold 15,000 at one time. But with this support comes expectations, and they definitely failed their expectations by not competing for the title and getting put to the sword by the other top teams. Manager Ekana Bohra hit the panic button after last season and decided to bench his promising young keeper in favor of bringing in a former club legend for a second stint. Yes, Athletic Sungri youth product Eli Shan has come out of retirement to play for his hometown team again after Ross United let him walk after his contract was up last season.

While Shan is a good edition, the back line that will be in front of him leaves much to be desired. Felixe Madeiros has one foot out the door, and Sungri sold dominant defender Hector Grier to Real Azuris and has opted to replace him with youth product Bakul Chandara, who is largely unproven and only played fifteen matches as Grier's partner in the back last season. Chakor Chakyar is a pretty good defensive mid, who can also fill in at center back if needed, but Sungri isn't exactly an attractive destination and therefore he's likely to get poached soon, like most of Sungri's biggest historical stars. Datta Emani is by no means a top striker, but the signing from the lower league team Middle Valeria United should keep Sungri from being toothless in the attack like they were last season.

This is rushed, but here's the rest of the league. The results from the first matchday should be up before the UICA cycle begins.
PART THREE: THE REST

XERA BAY SPORTING: Soren Bayer has retired this season, but Xera Bay may be able to stay up through young talent. Central defender slash defensive midfielder Chicodinho leads the team, and at twenty four years of age, he's a late blooming prospect who only was noticed last season. Behind him will be one of the top goalkeeping prospects in the Empire, Costin Anghelescu, a twenty one year old from Middle Valeria who signed on a free transfer last season from Ross United's academy. Anghelescu underperformed for his entire career, so it will be interesting to see if he bounces back well and performs to his potential with the Rainbow Fish.

PIRANHA ATHLETIC: The least successful club in their town is the relegation favorite, partly because of talent and partly because their neighbors in the Serie One take most of their potential talent away. They will welcome in Anglatian free agents Duro Zoric and Basila Villalobos, however, who both played in Chromatika before all the foreign players were expelled from that country. Both wingers should add a scoring threat that might just keep PAFC from taking the drop this season.

LANE UNITED ATHLETIC CLUB: This is an unusual promotion, because the Spartans were last sighted as a middling side in the National division, below the Superleague. The story of one of Anglatia's most storied clubs is quite interesting, really. They were founded as Lane United, won domestic titles before the Superleague era, won the first Imperial Cup, and then folded from existence not too long afterwards when their owner was arrested as a scam artist and their fans couldn't get enough money together to keep their players. Fast forward many years, and they were represented in the Imperial Leagues by a new club, Lanefield FC, but that one never found success. Now, backed by investors from Monarch Sports, LUAC was formed and claims the history of the original club, which is now folding and adopting the identity of the new club which will be directly promoted to the Superleague to take up the spot left by the old Lane United. Dinamo Jugoskania's folding has provided room, and instead of the Hunsen Loggers joining the league like everyone expected, the league officials opted for a more familiar face from a large market. It's a complete unknown how they'll finish, but the red and white half of Western Anglatia will certainly be happy that Ross United now has new competition in the region.

MJASA CITY: The promoted team is the Mjasa City Tribe, who staged a second half comeback last season to win the second division by five points and clinch promotion. They'll have immense pressure on them as the only Kisotan team in the Superleague, and are led by thirty five year old veteran attacking midfielder Abaze Watts, who returned to Kisote last season after a five year run with Calovice Sporting. Watts seems to get better with age, and it will be up to him to help out this young team in finding their way against much better competition, although they're already expected to stay up with no problems.

(IMPORTANT NOTE)

Hello guys. It's Emperor Colden. I'm breaking the fourth wall here to announce shockingly that the Superleague will be going through some structural changes this season. You can disregard the last preview's rankings of the teams, because the system will be changing to better represent the Empire and all one billion of its people, and not just the wealthier regions. For the very special tenth season, you'll see a new structure that includes:
-Five clubs from Anglatia
-Five clubs from Valeria
-Five clubs from Jugoskania
-Five clubs from the Northern Free State
-Five clubs from Kisote
-Five clubs from Baratstan
-Two clubs from South Valeria
-Two clubs from Patierre(Territory Ten)
-Two affiliate clubs from Jinhai

Because of this new system, the Imperial Second Division will be merged with various lower leagues, and the schedule will change so that every team plays every other team once. The new Superleague will look like this.
Anglatian Clubs
Ross United
Bathgate City
Lane United Athletic Club
Eastport City

With the Dominion of Patierre being integrated into the Empire as a royal colony again, under the rule of Jorg of House Kaine, the Patierre Football League has signed a contract to have GASN broadcast matches. The league isn't especially high quality, and doesn't get high attendances, but some good players may be discovered among the talents that call this league home. Of course, the fact that the country rebelled against Anglatia forty years ago, won, and then was recently invaded again and subjugated means that political tension will keep things interesting for Patierre players in the Superleague. Two Patierre teams are in the new Superleague, the others play their seasons out in the PFL.

OGC Syhaux had a great season and defeated the title favorites AirPatierre United to capture their fourth championship. Most Imperial fans will be watching for their young players, namely their twenty year old midfield starlet Etienne Jordan, and their eighteen year old goalkeeper, Prosper Comtois. Despite a bad defense, Comtois showed that he can work under pressure, and because of his performances, has attracted interest from Imperial scouts. Erienne Jordan was by far the best young central midfielder in the league, and finished with seven goals and nineteen assists after playing in twenty five of his team's twenty eight matches. Another prospect turning heads is Melanie Moulin, the brave twenty six year old center back of AirPatierre. She's not big, but she is fast, which has made many Imperial scouts attend her games. Most Patierre players, however, won't agree to contracts with Imperial teams until the exact specifics of colonial integration are sorted out.

Opening weekend in the Imperial Superleague saw all thirty six teams take the field, and there were some shocking results already. Ross United opened the season, as defending champs, but they managed to go down 1-0 on the road in Choni, where a raucous Jinhaian crowd had created a hostile atmosphere and sold out the small 12,000 seat stadium that the club called home. A bad defensive mistake from new signing Lukas Aukland caused the Dragons to win the ball in the open field in the sixtieth minute, and their captain and star striker, Hyun-Joo Yeong, made a run on goal and slotted the ball past the keeper easily. Ross United's expensive signing Isa Tangemen wasn't playing, reportedly due to personal issues, and the Blues instead used another new signing in goal, Demi Simonides. Simonides is from Ross, and the twenty year old joined the team on the day of the match after being cut from the Eastport Academy. The twenty three year old journeywoman put on a decent performance, making five saves and limiting her mistakes. It was near the end of the game that Andros Diasakos saved Ross United with a well placed shot into the right corner, from the left edge of the box.

Elsewhere, Zahara Santana got her Underfell career off to a flying start by defeating old enemies Calovice Sporting with a scissor kick goal after a corner kick. The young provocateur celebrated by running to the Calovice end behind the goal, and showing both middle fingers to the home crowd. Calovice nearly equalized at the death, but Ake Gustafsson slid in front of a low shot by Zoran Michel to end the match, and the Rodsvart escaped with a win behind their good second half defending.

Possibly the most exciting match was the Hunsen Loggers versus Lane United. Three goals from Lane striker Jeremy Mac-Mailin put them up 3-0 before the 50th minute, but then the Loggers stormed all the way back behind a brace from new signing Reina Toure and captain and star center back Indah Nystrom. After Indah's header in the 86th minute, the Loggers went all out attacking and Stella Makelainen got the game winning assist when she laid the ball off to Toure on a two on one chance versus the keeper. Notably, the match was played at the new Loggers Park after the original stadium was burnt down in the offseason in what is widely believed to be arson.

The table doesn't look as expected, but we're only one matchday in, and the top teams aren't used to playing in many of these cities. We'll see later who the real contenders and imposters are.

MD2: Ross United shocked everyone with another bad draw, this time to lowly East Sungri at their home opener. They went down 2-0 inside the first half hour because of goalkeeping errors by Demi Simonides, including an own goal where she punched a cross backwards while trying to clear it, but the Blues stormed back to a 2-2 draw when Andros Diasakos provided a long range effort from 30 yards out in the second half. Viktor Tomasson got his first United goal and tied up the match later, after putting a defender on skates and sending the keeper diving early with slick skill moves. East Sungri would soon go ahead again, but the stoppage time tying goal by Ross United was scored by out of favor winger Katarina Dana Bonner, who beat the fullback on the wing and had an open run on net.

MD3: The JFI era began in Bathgate as City managed to pull out a 3-1 win. Despite all their attacking talent, the goals came from Joao Francis Inciarte, who scored a hat trick in fifty minutes, after moving to wing midway through the first half. Juninha also had two assists, proving the young winger's skill for passing in addition to scoring. The struggles of the newly formed Imperial Saint Rainier continued, as the Patierre side lost to Lane United at home. The most interesting thing that happened all game was a Patierre nationalist invading the pitch and lighting himself on fire, causing a fifteen minute break before play resumed.

MD4: New Torsjo IK is a club that plays out of a rapidly growing city to the east of the wreck that Torsjo is after the city was destroyed by the Imperial military. That club proved that it was serious about being a threat in the Superleague, as they visited the Loggers and kept the crowd from getting into the match after a third minute goal. Their striker, Kai Hoxha, has been impressive over four weeks, and could be one of the breakout players of the year at the age of twenty four. He scored the game's only goal, making a run between both center backs.

MD5: Union South Bay, from the small farming city of South Bay, is shaping up to be a real title contender as they dispatched Choni 3-0 on the road. Analysts say they aren't for real, but they've been wrong a lot this season so far. Calovice Sporting also drew 4-4 with Xera Bay Sporting, thanks to a Zoran Michel hat trick and one goal from Reka Bacsik. Costin Anghelescu had a pretty bad game, and broke down near the end and had to be held back as he screamed at his back line for their errors.

MD6: In a battle of best friends, Ross United topped Hunsen to continue their new good form. Lily Cress had to face her old team again, and she put the ball into the back of the net for the opening goal of the game in the twenty seventh minute, and then turned to the corner and saluted the traveling Hunsen fans, who applauded her goal. The equalizer came from Reina Toure, who made Demi Simonides look like an amateur by sending a chip shot over her, but then the winner was scored by Reina's older brother, Milan. Milan got his first Superleague goal after tracking down the ball after a turnover and cutting inside to score. Ross United is now fourth in the league, while Underfell leads after four goals from Zahara Santana led them to a demolition of Eastport.

The Imperial Youth Superleague was created alongside the Superleague to provide a high quality youth competition, and is a combination of school teams and affiliate clubs of professional teams. Every season, many players from this league are inducted into the Superleague after being noticed, and there's a star system used by the media to rate youth players. This is the overview of the top players from the tenth season, where the Lane Jets from the Lane Imperial Academy captured their third overall championship.

SIX STAR PLAYERS

Six star players are the highest rated players, rated so highly that in many years, there are no six star players at all. Former players to have this rank include Andros Diasakos, Zahara Santana, Carlito Traoe, and Marco Saint Paul. This time around, there were two six star players.

Allie Vacek: The Lane Jets star played in every game and scored thirty one goals and finished with eighteen assists playing as a roaming attacking midfielder. In the future, Vacek could be a central striker, but her diminutive size at 5'7 has led to her being pushed deeper to allow taller players to start up front. Despite her poor size for an Anglatian, Vacek has all the makings of a legendary player because of her agility, incredible acceleration, great control of the ball, and her pinpoint accuracy with passes and shots. Rumors from around the Imperial Academy say that she has a bad attitude and that her teammates fear her more than they trust her, and critics say that her lack of physicality will cause her to be a bust in the professional leagues, but her all time statline of one hundred and nineteen goals and sixty eight assists over four seasons is the best in Youth Superleague history. She's being recruited by every team in the senior league, but especially by Lane United, Sporting Otavice, the Hunsen Loggers, Underfell FC, and the Wolfe Nomads as well as several foreign teams. She's expected to make her decision after making her international debut with the national beach football team.

Hakki Ojala: The one other six star is Hakki Ojala, from Rastaka. He played four seasons for his hometown team, and this season he scored twenty nine goals and had twenty one assists as a winger. Hakki single handedly carried his team to second place, and was arguably more dominant than Vacek because his team had less good teammates on it. He's large but doesn't lose too much speed to lose his effectiveness. He fits the mold of a classic Valerian winger, that can shoot or pass and can use a variety of skill moves on the wing. He's also highly wanted by Ross United and Sporting Escane because of his excellent combination of skills. Surprisingly, his one weakness is shooting, as he's not a good finisher from range. However he's been said to be a real locker room leader unlike Vacek, and some clubs want him even more than her because he's a much better physical prospect at 6'4, and he's not a threat to make a locker room atmosphere turn toxic. He's expected to make his team decision during the next Sporting World Cup, which he is expected to represent the Explorers in.

More IYSL player updates will come when players sign with Superleague teams...

WEEK 7: Ross United somehow got blanked in Alery this week, as the goalkeeper situation looks worse and worse. Isa Tangemen hasn't played since the Imperial Cup last season, but traveled with the team and stayed on the sideline as they took a trip to Patierre and came back with no points. Demi Simonides had an own goal, and Andros Diasakos looked uninspired as he failed to get a shot on target. Elsewhere, FC Rastaka fans were happy as they saw their team take down Underfell in front of a hostile home crowd. Rastaka's newest signing, former Hunsen Loggers forward Audra Jaakola, redeemed herself in the eyes of Rastaka fans when she marked joining her old team's rivals by scoring a brace for them and kissing the badge on her new shirt. Jaakola, twenty, was released from the Loggers in the offseason by her own request after reportedly struggling with personal problems and having disagreements with management over not being included in the starting eleven often enough.

WEEK 8: Union South Bay brought in 26 year old Abajan winger Dedana Ese from East Han to help them keep their good momentum going, and he managed to save them from a loss when he equalized in the 86th minute against Rastaka to curb the latter's good momentum. He wasn't the only Abajan whose club was selling, Ugochi Kekule was also signed for 660k marks by Bathgate City, and he made his debut in week eight as a substitute during a 5-2 win over Adamari, where Joao-Francis Inciarte bagged a hat trick and Celso De Soto had his first goals with the club when he got a brace. Ross United also got slightly back on track when Simonides got a clean sheet against Saint Rainier.

WEEK 9: The match that everyone was waiting for in Valeria finally happened. Hunsen and Underfell took each other on, and the heavy favorites dropped all three points. Stella Makelainen opened scoring when she put a long range effort into the back of the net in the fourth minute, and Bisera Haralampieva doubled the lead before halftime with a tap in off of Alysha Hakala's cross in the latter's return from injury. Underfell struck back when a struggling Aysu Teke headed in a Kjell Sigfrid volley, but it was too little too late for Rodsvart. Tempers flared afterwards, when Zahara Santana and Makelainen got into a scuffle over something that was said between the two, and manager Erik Hanokssen hinted that Hunsen-Underfell could become a major rivalry now that the two play regularly. Also that week, Kyle Jankovic came back into the Ross United lineup and had one goal and assisted Lily Cress twice as the Blues went on the road to take on Jiru, in one of the more hostile environments in the league.

WEEK 10: Underfell got back on track when Kjell Sigfrid won them the match against Alery with a spectacular free kick from thirty five yards out. By their standards, however, the team is still struggling, as Ross United continues to improve and solidify their number one spot.

WEEK 11: Alery is proving to become the most pesky team in the league as they tripped up Union South Bay to keep the visitors in second place. Dedana Ese had another goal, this time on a counter attack, but South Bay lacks killer instinct and the ability to finish matches. They're expected to get Jenna Santana on loan, after her very public disagreements with Ross United manager Thane Hull over her role. Santana said: "I think I've earned a starting spot and I don't feel appreciated in Ross. The fans love me, but the staff doesn't, and I'm going to look for a loan before the end of the season. I don't know where I'll end up. South Bay is a possibility. Valeria IK is also a possibility because I would be close to my sister". Ross United is also expected to cut Demi Simonides after this matchday, to replace her with Academia FK keeper Darren Bracey. Simonides has split the fanbase into two camps, those who believe that she should have more of a chance, and those who believe that she isn't up to the standard of a Ross goalkeeper. The one who was supposed to start ahead of her, Isa Tangemen, is viewed as an 'expensive bust' by many parts of the fanbase now, after arriving in Ross for ten million marks and playing a grand total of three matches so far while being paid eighty thousand marks a week. The rumor mill says that Thane Hull is planning to make another transfer bid for Tangemen's friend from Rosenpfelblatz City, Karen Villegas, but reports from inside the team say that the thirty million mark bid that would also include Jenna Santana and Kyle Jankovic was blocked by the team's board, who allegedly told Hull to make due with what he has right now or to find another job.
