We're back, once again with our eyes on the prize. Host bid coming soon. not happening this time, I hate to disappoint but I want to concentrate more on actually, y'know, participating. Also looking to host more regional-level tournaments in my own "home" region.

So you'd be able to host the World Bowl and World Baseball Classic at the same time if elected host of both? That's a lot of work..... If I were you, I wouldn't dive into hosting two major tournaments simultaneously until I'd already hosted one and knew just how much work it was. And trust me - I've hosted the IBS and I've hosted the WBC. The WBC is a lot more work. You don't want to do it and have to host another major tournament at the same time.

While that is true, I highly doubt I'll win the WB vote. However, I can wait until the World Bowl voting finishes. I have a bid drawn up, but I will withhold it at this moment.

Since the deadline for submitting bids is pretty much here with no current bids, here's mine.

Nova Anglicana hostbid for WBC 35

Who are you?

Nova Anglicana is going on two and a half years on NS Sports, playing in every Classic since WBC 27 and every IBS since edition III. Nova Anglicana, despite some recent struggles, remains a top-10 baseball nation. Nova Anglicana has previously hosted WBC 31 with Imota, IBS IX, and two editions of the Londinium Rugby 7s tournament and has scorinated various domestic leagues for multiple seasons. Nova Anglicana is also the current WBC President.

What kind of nation are you?
The Sovereign State of Nova Anglicana is a nation located in North America. It is democratic, hospitable, Christian, and pretty darn invested in its sports teams. We’re at least on decent terms with the Gregoryisgodistanis, being former neighbors.

How will the Group Draw play out?
It will likely not be on IRC, since live draws seem to be out of style lately. More than likely, it will simply be announced as to the time and date and edited into the OP.

What will the format look like?
The group stage will be run similarly to the recent International Baseball Slam, with teams playing series of three games each, with each series to be scorinated in a single matchday in the interests of time. The playoffs would be a traditional best-of-3 series until the finals, with a best-of-5 finals and best-of-3 3PPO. Given that we currently have 35 signups, here are some of the formats I would consider.

• 36 teams: 6 groups of 6, 15 total games, top two advancing plus four best 3rd-place teams, Ro16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and 3PPO all best-of-three, finals best-of-five
• 40 teams: 8 groups of 5, 12 total games, top two advancing, Ro16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and 3PPO all best-of-three, finals best-of-five
• 42 teams: 6 groups of 7, 18 total games, top two advancing plus four best 3rd-place teams, Ro16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and 3PPO all best-of-three, finals best-of-five
• 48 teams: 8 groups of 6, 15 total games, top three advancing, Round of 24, Ro16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and 3PPO all best-of-three, finals best-of-five
• 54 teams: 9 groups of 6, 15 total games, top two advancing plus six best 3rd-place teams, Round of 24, Ro16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and 3PPO all best-of-three, finals best-of-five

What scorination method will you use? How will RPs be scored?
I will be using the most recent version of xkoranate, v0.3.3, with the Saintland-adjusted NSFS formula.

I will be offering a roster bonus to incentivize participation and help out opponents with their own RPs, but it will likely not be very large. RPs will be graded for quality over quantity, with a fixed scale to be determined. RP bonus will be cumulative, and will be halved at the end of the group stage.

How will ties be broken?
Tiebreakers are in order, as follows:
1. H2H Record
2. Tiebreaker Game(s) <- Should three or more-way ties occur, a single round-robin will be used (Should three teams end up with a record of 1-1 each in the tiebreak matches, then run differential will be used as the next tiebreaker. If two teams remain tied after run differential, then H2H record will be used. If three teams are tied after run differential, runs for will be used. This is to avoid putting extra wear and tear on teams instead of having them play additional tiebreak matches.)

I have a question, comment, or concern regarding your host bid!
Feel free to post it below.
