Gaelic Football World Championships - OOC Thread

Welcome, all, to the signups for the Gaelic Football World Championships. If people actually want to participate in a Gaelic Football tournament, then this can provide an option.

To sign up, all you have to do is post your name.

Note #1: To host, you need to include the following details:
- Format of tournament
- RP grading/bonus
- Scorination
- Including past hosting experience is not mandatory but highly encouraged.

Note #2: Puppets are allowed. However, only one puppet per user is allowed, and you must declare the puppet at the time of sign-up. If you are found to be in violation of this rule, all your nations will be ejected from the tournament. Puppets will also be the first to go at the host's discretion if the host needs to cut teams to make signups work.

The tentative deadline for host bids is December 7th - two weeks from the time of this post.

- how many groups there will be and how big they will be
- How will the playoffs work?
- You need to provide RP bonus calculation and scorination in the bid.

I'm not signing up, but I would like to say that events like these are a great time for someone with little to no hosting experience to start building their portfolio. The first tournament I ever hosted was the 2nd World Korfball Classic. All of the hosts you see doing things like the World Cup started out by hosting small tournaments like this one. Once you get a few tournaments like these under your belt, you'll be hosting bigger tournaments in no time.

Thought I'd give a little host bid a go...


IC Information:

Ethane is a democratic nation. It believes in freedoms and civil rights for all. The majority of the economy in Ethane is government owned, with the private sector owning 25% of the industries. Transport around the nation will be free for all those who present tickets to the Gaelic Football World Championships, because the government is running an initiative to boost tourism to the area, as well as the fact that the government runs the transport services, so they are able to do this. The multicultural nature of Ethane brings with it many benefits, with a range of cuisines able for trying, as well as a popular market place, where you can buy many wares from many different nations.
For spending the night, we have plenty of hotels available, which will be booking rooms especially for this tournament. Most of the hotels in Ethane average around 3*, with 1 1* hotel and many 4 and 5 star hotels, which are available for anyone to stay in. However, it is advised that you book in advance to get the best rooms, as we are currently in a peak tourism time, running up to christmas, so many hotels will be busy with families. Make sure, while you're in Ethane, that you take a look around the towns there, which will provide you with much entertainment. From circuses and cinemas to historic monuments and museums, Ethane has a lot to offer to keep you busy when the matches are not on. These sites are all supplemented by the quality selection of food chains and restaurants available in Ethane.

OOC Information

Format
Based on the current number of signups, which is 12, there would be a group stage, with 2 groups of 6 teams. The winner of the group stage, and second place, would progress to a semi- finals, and the winner of these matches would then go onto the final. If we were to get a few more signups, then I would edit accordingly, as shown below.
14 signups: 2 groups of 7, top 2 progress
16 signups: 4 groups of 4, top 2 progress, quarter finals, semi- finals then finals.
20 signups: 4 groups of 5, top 2 progress, quarter finals, semi- finals then finals.

I will be using Xkoranate 0.3.3 edition, using the NSFS2 formula.

RP Bonus
There will be a 5 point roster bonus for teams who have posted a roster, as well as 5 points extra available for roleplaying before the first match. The RP Grading will also be 5 points, granted daily, focusing on quality and not just quantity. The RPs will cumulative, and will build up throughout the tournament,so the more you Roleplay, the more likely you are to win. On days off, the RP bonus will be granted for that day, so you will be able to gain double RP bonus for the next game. If you violate your opponents RP Permissions, then your RP bonus will reset to 0.

The doors are closed to host bidding. All nations that have signed up may vote for the host, except for Ethane. Cosumar may vote, and United Vietussia only gets one vote.

You have three options:

Accept Ethane's bid
Re-open bidding
Abstain

Please telegram your vote to Firebolt by December 10th. Votes sent to this nation, or posted in the thread, will be ignored.

Signups will still be accepted during this period of time.
