Qualification for the World Cup finals is difficult and it's not something that we can achieve success everyday. The group stage for the sixty-fifth Cup of Harmony will consist of eight groups of four teams playing in a single round robin, with each team playing their group members once over the course of three match days, the side scorinated by San José Guayabal (Groups E-H) will have a cutoff at 9:15 PM CST (03:15 GMT) while the side scorinated by Stvoto Latoli (Groups A-D) will have a cutoff at 11:00 PM CST (05:00 AM UTC) - Dates are subject to change with previous announcement by each host in case of RL issues.

Introduction

The Kingdom of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group, giving to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments and being politically speaking a stable nation working into the frame of a Constitutional Monarchy. The ancestral heritage given by Spanish colonizers and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported their culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, and yes, there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally an accompaniment to the main course, where people normally waits for all to start to eat at the same, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. In this section is presented the most relevant information of the cities hosting the Cup of Harmony in San Jose Guayabal, in order to facilitate reading, we divided the twelve host cities into four geographic regions: West, Central, East, Overseas. In each regional description will include: transportation, regional attractions, and brief descriptions of each city and places of accommodation, restaurants and other places of importance for tourists.

Eastern Region

In the last five hundred years, this region has hosted the headquarters of the national government, because of its ancient historical importance as ancient capital of the Eskimos, is now considered one of the most prosperous regions in Esportiva, keeping a high per capita income and a life expectancy quite broad. Yucuaiquín is a city located 420 kilometers north of San Salvador, inhabited by just over 500,000 people is a place characterized by its wide avenues and the Volcano "Fuego", which dominates the view and who generated the nickname city "La Tierra del Fuego" (The Land of Fire). In this city is normal to visit to the periphery in search of his other symbol, meat. It's considered the "capital of the meat" is a place where fine something cheap prices are offered meat, usually beef is accompanied with barbecue and salad with rice, and that's why Yucuaiquí is most well known for, for they cuisine and culinary arts.

The Heroic City: Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk is a moderately big city located 560 kilometers away from San Salvador, it's a well connected city, with an airport, several train stations and a maritime port located in the outskirts of the city, this city has a special place on Guayabalense city as it was one of those places where the uprising against the Communist government took place in a very special manner and also for their decisive role in the "Border War" against Gregoryisgodistan, where their citizens in collaboration with the Guayabalense and Chiatan army expelled the Gregoryisgodistani army and provoked a huge impact against them in terms of casualities on the enemy side, this basically put end to the war against both sides, the citizens of Khabarovsk decided to give a modern look to their city after the war, the reconstruction finished long time ago and now the city is with a new mood and it's ready to welcome the visitors in this World Cup. Now, Khabarovsk is well know for being the chemical hub of San José Guayabal due to their big chemical industry and also by their contributions to science in general.

Central Region

It is by far the largest and most populated region of the country, mainly composed of valleys and plains, and some other small desert terrain portion, is a vast place with fertile land primarily used for agricultural purposes or for industrial purposes such as generating energy through wind turbines and hydroelectric dams, a valley that has been widely used throughout history and now is home to large urban centers and also houses which once was the capital of the nation for a very short period time, Vladivostok.

Travel

Being outside of the country? there are two airports that may be useful to arrive on this region, the International Airport of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, located in the city of the same name, on the southwest coast is second in importance at the national level due to flow of tourists received annually, is also the Vladivostok International Airport, located in the south is a good place to arrive, because despite being the most populated city in the country but the airport in that city does not have much movement as airport in the city of Sakhalin, which is recommended Vladivostok.

It certainly is a region with great ease of travel due to its relatively flat terrain, despite being extensive, most foreigners often rent cars to visit various places in the region and discover landscapes of it, usually they take as advantageous the lack of speed restrictions on open roads, it is in this region where the bullet trains lose a good number of passengers, preferring to enjoy the scenery of the landscape that appears on the road but really a lot cheaper to take a bullet train to arrive faster to the destination, but in short, is a tourist option. Alternative transportation methods are present in the cities as the tram, also with the subway and taxis, the aforementioned "coasters" are banned in many cities in the region due to municipal ordinances regulating transport or environmental reasons.

The Angels' Fjord, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

It is one of the best preserved and most visited natural settings in the nation, located sixty kilometers outside of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, is a place where some people decide to practice paragliding from the level of the fjord or from the surrounding hills to a small portion beach is not required to make any payment to practice any extreme sport in the fjord.

The Horn Island, Vladivostok

It is an island with different attractions, from its pleasant climate in a city characterized by its heat to the various activities that can be done there, it is very typical to see people who frequent the zone of the waterfalls to take a bath without any restriction or people doing skating or doing any other activity, the beach is one of the most attractive places in the area due to the coral reef that forms, perfect for the amateur or professional diving, this barrier extends over 50 kilometers sea in and is normal to see people in small sailboats make diving to the farthest part of the coral reef.

The Gate to Space: Concepción Batres

Despite being a city that just reaches 747,063 inhabitants mostly middle or middle-upper class residents, Concepción Batres should not be underestimated in anything, why? because this city is the main hub for outer space studies and another scientific missions destinated to investigate beyond earth apart of being another important hub for energy research, specifically a nuclear research hub, one of the most important ones of its kind in San José Guayabal, being a city whose main industry is research and science doesn't limitates the cultural potential of the city, this city is the cradle of important musicians and the estimated place of birth of one of the most important musical instruments for one of the biggest minorities of San José Guayabal, the Russian balalaika. In sports, one of the biggest representatives of this city and of the entire region of Usulután is CD Luis Ángel Firpo, one of the most regular sides in San José Guayabal, despite of never winning a tournament, their fan base are one of the best nationwide, also, this city offers a lot of amusement and entertainment facilities.

Western Region

The western area is the most mountainous and forested region of the country, consists of three islands and a vast territory that is intact due to the work of environmental protection that are made to keep the place in an intact form from large peaks up small hills, this region offers a variety of reliefs. Also noteworthy is that this region has played an extremely important role in history, through culture and politics, being clearly progressive and liberal, having influence on many decisions that are made on the government.

Travel

There are two ways to get to this territory, it may be through ferries between neighboring nations to cities like Puntarenas (Ex Fasista Vigilante) and also or the airway through the International Airport of El Roblar International Airport and Ramirez, the two main airports in mainland, then you can move through domestic flights to different islands in the region, to places like Meléndez and Rodríguez and also Sibirskaya Gavan.

Relief setting of the region generates different ways to transport along the region, can be through bullet trains (that do not connect with any island) or by cars or taxis, those covering long distances. In some cities like El Roblar or Ramirez, trams are offered into the cities and the underground is only available in Ramírez, as in El Roblar, constant slopes and irregular relief impede the operation of one. Among the islands, there are domestic flights and ferry rides, which normally take three to four hours to cover the journey to the city of Meléndez.

Formerly called Communism, the peak of Santa Marta stands at 8,658 meters above sea level and is a place frequented by climbers, anyone can climb without permission, only a nominal fee of NS$ 30 (C$ 15 Coronas) although it is recommended climb expeditions led by experts. You can also access by car to the base camp, located 5,100 meters high, where there is also a lake. It can be accessed by taking the Secondary Road 29 and then a $ 10 fee is paid (C$ 5- Regardless of the number of people who go), you can also climb up a secondary peak 6,710 meters high without equipment through a path of moderately difficult of hiking, which is taken in the southeast point of the lake.

Three Brothers Pond, Meléndez

Island of Puntarenas, Puntarenas

Located in the mountains, has different attractions such as La Feria (Located on the edge of Lake San Pedro) or tourist viewpoints in the highest part of the city, at 4,200 meters or for its diverse cultural heritage, it is certainly a city which anyone will leave with a pleasant memory and wishes to return.

Meléndez is a city on the island of the same name, despite being a neighbor of another major city like Rodriguez, known for its dairy industry and its massive commercialization in the region of Esportiva, considered a tourist city primarily due the influx of foreigners seeking to spend holidays in the city due to the relatively low cost of accommodation and food everywhere around the city, also known for their large Amusement Parks near the beach and for the volcanoes between the villages of San Fernando and Ulúa.

The Western Pearl: Santa Ana

La Perla de Occidente (The Wesern Pearl) is a nickname that fits perfectly on this city, wide streets and lots of cultural hubs is what characterizes Santa Ana, apart of being a quite mild place in terms of climate, it's the third biggest city in San José Guayabal and never had a pretty good stadium until now, Trojana, a Québecois company acquired the rights to build a new stadium in Santa Ana in order to provide the local club CD FAS a good stadium at the height of their history and fan support through the time. Santa Ana is an industrial city but mostly dedicated to the research of renewable energy and sustainable development, the main industry in the city is wind energy, due to the privileged position of Santa Ana, at the top of the biggest mountain in a radii of 45 kilometers, that's why Santa Ana is also known as Ciudad de Los Vientos (Windy City)

Welcome to Stvoto Latoli!

On behalf of all of us here at the Tazi'shu Stvoto Latolisi Balomobi, including our hordes of unpaid interns doing most of the real work, welcome to the Maritime Empire! If you've been drawn into one of this tournaments last four groups (E, F, G, and H), you'll be playing right here in this great nation! Our customs are strange in some ways, and ordinary in others, but we'll do our very best to make your stay as pleasant as it can be! It's a shame, but there are thirty-two countries in the tournament, and thirty-one of them will return home without the ultimate prize they seek. That being the case, we hope you enjoy yourselves so much here that the sting of failure will be dulled before you hop on that flight back to wherever you're from.

Culture

Stvoto Latoli is a geographically and culturally diverse federation of countries cobbled together politically if not culturally. The Maritime Empire prides itself not only on the geographic breadth of its territory but on the numerous narratives embedded into its history. Read on!

The barbaric Stvoto Latolisi people are aggressive scavengers living at sea. Likely East Asian in terms of ethnic ancestry, they typically have straight, shiny black hair. Their faces are almost always concealed by traditional makeup patterns: men wear a pattern of diagonally alternating white and metallic gold, women wear a quartered pattern of navy and blue. (Footballers, incidentally, forego this makeup while playing the sport.) Their language is notoriously difficult to learn, while it only contains twenty-some basic sounds, all words are formed from abstract relative concepts explained in hieroglyphic form. Rather than letters representing vowels or consonants, letters represent words or phrases. For the purposes of intelligibility, dispatches released for the international public's consumption will adopt an Anglicization policy for Stvoto Latolisi words.

Stvoto Latoli's background is mired in murky prehistory. The legend goes that in an ancient land, a specific group of humans, united by some unknown faith, gradually became greatly feared for their brutality, greed, and mercilessness, until some political event occurred that resulted in the religious practitioners' expulsion out to sea. These people evidently could never find a new place to live, as word of their terrible nature had spread worldwide, and no other nation allowed them to land. So the early Stvoto Latolisis simply accepted their reality, and began to construct massive wooden rafts upon which they could build a large city in which to live. A less ambitious, less devout, less fervent people might have failed in this seemingly impossible task, but they succeeded, and the maritime city-state of Stvoto Latoli was born.

Since, the ruthless people descended from that original group have become less devout; in fact, the religion they followed has been completely forgotten. But their merciless nature has not changed. Once the economy and society of this new country stabilized, the Stvoto Latolisis united to make their floating raft city more flexible and mobile, and eventually it became possible to fragment districts of the city into separate "islands" and direct the superstructure across the oceans to whatever location they preferred. They then began the process of plundering as many vulnerable peoples as they could find. A famous legend explains that the Kagdaz witch Baba Yaga witnessed one of these such pillagings. According to the story, she visited Stvoto Latoli during a time when they were conquering and destroying a race of merpeople below the sea.

In recent years, however, the Stvoto Latolisis have changed approach. (No one is quite sure why.) They have continued to conquer other nations seen as susceptible, but rather than looting and destroying these countries, they instead have looked for ways to mostly preserve the culture of their conquered possessions, while maintaining strict political and military control. (They refer to these incorporated possessions as "vassal states.") In general, Stvoto Latolisi society has a substantive authoritarian streak that, while growing milder in the areas of some civil rights and economic freedoms, preserves a pure dictatorship and prohibits elections and free speech.

Various tightly controlled vassal states have been won and lost in the last century. At the current present, the attentions of the Stvoto Latolisi navy and air forces have been occupied by the large vassal states of Muzira'a Ba'aydah and the Pazhujeb Islands. Their relationship with the Muzira'a Ba'aydi is moderately good; the Arab and Irish country appears mostly happy to be able to preserve their culture and avoid the devastation suffered by other possessions. That mutual amicability is non-existent, however, between the Pazhujeb Islands and their overlords. The Pazhujebis have proven rebellious and troublesome, and prison camps are filled to nearly 250% capacity.

We shall briefly explain the cultures of these two complex vassal states.

Muzira'a Ba'aydah consists of two territories, typically referred to as the Northern Territory and the Southern Territory. The large Northern Territory lies in an environmentally tropical zone, and is mostly covered by jungle. No one is quite sure why, but a group of Irish settlers have lived in the area for thousands of years. The other territory, the much smaller Southern Territory, lies on the northeastern corner of a moderately-sized subarctic continent. From this state emerged the Arab people who eventually traveled to the Northern Territory, and began to peacefully settle alongside the native Irish. As these peoples united into one culture, the Irish began to emigrate the opposite direction, and by now there are more or less equal numbers of each ethnicity in each of the two territories. (Place names, incidentally, still follow the old origins: the Northern Territory is filled with towns with Irish names, and the Southern with Arab names.)

The Muzira'a Ba'aydis are quite conservative and religious. They have developed a unique religion which is organized around The Myth of the River, an old story. In this myth, a golden boat travels down a wide, wide river, but the further it travels, the wider the river becomes and eventually the members of the boat do not know if they are still in the river or at sea. This is a critical metaphor for the attainability of the afterlife - one cannot know when he or she has reached it.

Pazhujebis, on the other hand, are the largely the descendants of North Indian expellees of Rome. They settled the Pazhujeb Islands about two millenia ago. They have light to medium brown skin, dark hair, and brown eyes. All Pazhujebis, men and women, wear purple turbans, though like the face paint of the Stvoto Latolisis, these turbans are forgone during sporting events. There are multiple ethnic groups here. The Mahathan Pazhujebis are by a slight margin the largest group; they consider themselves to be descendants of wealthy entrepreneurs within the Roman Empire and as such feel a general sense of superiority. Following close behind in terms of number are the African Pazhujebis, who are full or partial descendants of Yoruba immigrants who have arrived over the course of the last millennium. Finally, the smaller group of the Zahuji Pazhujebis also consider themselves to be descendants of Indians expelled from the Roman Empire, however, they have rejected Roman social influences due to lingering resentment over the expulsion, and have tried to culturally return to their North Indian roots.

Geneticists have studied the sequences of Mahathans and Zahujis and concluded that there is no fundamental racial difference between the two clades, but that does not stop Pazhujebis from perceiving strong distinctions between the two, and the belief that Mahathans and Zahujis are ethnically separate remains heavily prevalent.

While football is incredibly popular in both Muzira'a Ba'aydah and the Pazhujeb Islands, it is a developing sport in Stvoto Latoli, where their partially-mechanized form of rowing has always been the country's most popular sport. That being the case, Stvoto Latoli is by far the most economically and culturally powerful country in the federation, and so clubs are able to train local players more effectively and purchase Muzira'a Ba'aydi or Pazhujebi players away from their home sources. This serves as an equalizing factor. Although the phenomenon has long resulted in the national team being demographically rather short on Stvoto Latolisis, this current squad is the most equitable ever. The usual plethora of Muzira'a Ba'aydis still form a plurality, but there are plenty of Pazhujebis and Stvoto Latolisis, too.

Demonyms are slightly complicated. In terms of citizenship, it is acceptable to refer to anyone in Muzira'a Ba'aydah, the Pazhujeb Islands, or the city-state of Stvoto Latoli as "Stvoto Latolisi," but in terms of describing ethnicity, referring to somebody as such implies that they are from the actual raft complex. (In the same way, "Stvoto Latoli" may refer to either the small raft city-state of Tobyumosyu, or it may refer to the broader empire as a whole.) It is not, however, typically considered offensive when foreigners refer to anybody from the Maritime Empire as Stvoto Latolisi, even if they are actually Muzira'a Ba'aydis or Pazhujebis.

An incredibly well-known Muzira'a Ba'aydi football blogger (and notorious supporter of Vortex, Brewers' absolutely loathed arch-nemesis) recently wrote of Green Lion Arena: "I've never been in a place so literally transparent and yet felt so unmistakably under surveillance." This is a controversial though valid take on the largest stadium in Muzira'a Ba'aydah. Home to the orange-and-chartreuse-clad powerhouse Brewers, easily the most successful club in the history of Stvoto Latolisi football, the venue is unparalleled in both its beauty and its austerity. Surrounded on all four sides of its rectangular shape by brilliantly clear walls of glass and illuminated spectacularly in its concourses by extravagant green and chartreuse light shows, the stadium oozes with the passion and intensity characteristic of Brewers as a team. And yet the brutalist inspirations for its overall design are impossible to ignore - with flat surfaces, square angles, and unadorned concrete walls everywhere, the Lion is a humorless temple for a humorless club. Brewers fans can hardly be called to task for insisting that their beloved home is one of the best (if not the best) stadiums in the Maritime Empire, but in very much the same way, Vortex fans can hardly be called to task for insisting that their hated enemies' stomping grounds are nothing less than an overt symbol of Stvoto Latoli's authoritarian government.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Often, when those unfamiliar with the park see Sunbirds' venerated home ground for the first time, they laugh, but after they've seen a match there, they're as gray-faced as can be. From the outside, Fahan Salmon Company Field appears to be a somewhat stupid-looking giant Styrofoam cube with a flat shingled roof, or perhaps a black-and-white-painted box that's been hit by some sort of illegal reverse shrink ray. But while it's true that the Field is constructed out of a lightweight polyurethane foam blend, the venue is no joke. The tar paper used on the exterior and interior of the fixed-roof park may appear to be a lazy attempt to keep the near-constant Fahan rain out, but its real function, along with the foam, is to deliberately keep the sound in. Sunbirds' frenzied hordes of fans can disturb anybody's eardrums with their chants and songs even if they're outside, so just imagine them inside an indoor stadium intentionally built as a sealed echo chamber. (Fahan Salmon Company had the stadium built according to the specifications set forth by their employees, most of whom are Reds supporters.) If your team is playing here, be forewarned: this is by far the loudest ground in Gu Zhahogowdoo and it will be by far the loudest ground at the Cup of Harmony. The capacity is small by relative standards, but it is always packed and players will have the feeling that FSC Field's thirty-five thousand spectators are screaming directly in their ears from a centimeter away.

The Therakham District of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu's capital has long had an inferiority complex when comparing themselves with their wealthy and arrogant neighbors from the Kuratmad district. (These hostilities are, incidentally, the focal point of the Old Mahathu Derby between Angels and Therakham, which plays out intermittently depending on whether the sides are in the same flight of Stvoto Latolisi football.) But this recently-renovated stadium, home to Therakham ZL, is justifiably the pride of the black and blue half of the city. Its steep, almost vertical stands give players on the pitch the feeling that they are at the bottom of a huge cauldron, and its exterior is painted black with hi-tech blue LED lighting. Despite the modernities, visitors will be reminded by locals that the Velodrama has existed in this area of the capital for well over a millenium. No one is quite sure what events used to be hosted in the arena before football was introduced to the Pazhujeb Islands, but one might reasonably assume that, at some point in history, chariot races were held there. Despite the currently rather ill fortunes of the Terrors (as Therakham are often referred to as), the venue remains an automatic go-to when, in situations such as the Cup of Harmony, the Pazhujeb Islands' largest city is handed hosting responsibilities.

Teach Iarann is a very poor city on the south coast of Muzira'a Ba'aydah's Northern Territory: its once-successful date-plum and lime orchards have taken severe damage from pests over the last quarter-century and its monsoon climate makes it unappealing to outside visitors for significant portions of the calendar year. Things have gotten so bad recently that the packs of stray dogs which roam the streets are becoming a severe risk to public health. As such, it is something of a minor miracle that local officials managed to persuade the TSLB to allow the city to host any Cup of Harmony matches at all. That being the case, the actual venue itself is a marvel; Brídget Kilkenny manages to very effectively conceal the fact that it is made of rather cheap materials (a combination of hard plastics and concrete) and its location, surrounded by jungle and built into a cliff wall overlooking the ocean, and within viewing distance of Muzira'a Ba'aydah's largest waterfall, makes it a visually spectacular place to watch football. Its stands (of which there are just two), one along the north sideline and one along the west endline, are triangular in shape, guaranteeing that most of the stadium's 31,000 seats are quite close to the pitch. Its club tenants, Cóiméid, are one of the country's better clubs, perennially competing for UICA places in Gu Zhahogowdoo.

A towering granite behemoth in the middle of Tobyumosyu (the formal name for Stvoto Latoli City, the floating raft city that constitutes the capital of the nation), the Setoydyuma'shu Lobyuseistvooshu existed a considerable time before the introduction of football to the Maritime Empire. A symbol of the Lobyuseistvooshu District's relative opulence, the structure was finished roughly 300 years ago (historians estimate it took about 100 years to build). Made of granite obviously taken from land (though nobody is quite sure where), the stadium's material was likely seized by Stvoto Latolisi raiders from a helpless, underdeveloped civilization. The design is circular and its stands are quite steep. There are four tiers inside the stadium - for a long time two of them were terraces and had no seats but that was altered when Stvoto Latoli began participating in international sport competitions. The most striking feature of the stadium, however, has lent it its unofficial nickname among Tobyumosyu residents: the Arch. Lengthwise across the middle of the stadium, a tremendous (and incredibly heavy) stone arch has been affixed to the circular monster. It remains a complete mystery how the early Stvoto Latolisis managed to properly suspend the thing; it surely weighs thousands and thousands of tons. In the modern era, lighting, heating, new interior amenities, an outer concourse, state-of-the-art seating, luxury boxes, concession areas, and dressing rooms have been added to the original structure of the ancient stadium. Its massive capacity makes it an ideal candidate to host Cup of Harmony matches.

By most accounts a tragic accident waiting to happen, Trogu How (which is Stvoto Latolisi for "Irish Lane") is a rickety superstructure in the heart of Tobyumosyu's dangerous but historic Thutrezhertrida District, home to a large Muzira'a Ba'aydi Irish immigrant population. Officially owned by the Thutrezhertrida Cultural Council and located upon the grounds of the Council-associated Irish Social Unity Center, the stadium is an infamous death trap. Constructed out of assorted timber, loose brush, tremendous sheets of fabric, and patched up with wattle and daub, Trogu How's massive Curva Sud (Italian is spoken nowhere in Stvoto Latoli, but the term has been appropriated here) stretches along the south side of the park's remarkably small pitch and seats the vast majority of the venue's capacity while the main administrative building on the ISUC campus (on the roof of which there is a steep stand where two thousand spectators can be held) lines the north side of the field. The grass of the pitch is Trogu How's major selling point - well-watered and fast, and kept in famously perfect condition, tenant club Gerthamasa Boyseh have punched far above their weight in the Stvoto Latolisi top division almost exclusively because they are able to use the stadium as a fortress, playing lightning-fast counterattacking football up and down the small pitch and felling numerous better clubs as rowdy fans watch on.

Though Urajbina’s stadium pales in comparison to the size of other venues in the Pazhujeb Islands, it is one of the most beloved in the entire country. Nestled into an ancient neighborhood, the stadium was once a Roman-style coliseum and is now home to club tenants Urajbina ZL. The home field of Zhevassi ZL (an old juggernaut recently promoted back into the top flight league, where they appear poised to return to power), this venue, the largest and most prestigious in the whole of the Maritime Empire, is nestled up in the misty hills east of the small town of Zhevassi in the Pazhujeb Islands. The structure is mostly from wood but meticulously decorated from pitch to stand to roof to entrance with soapstone sculptures, many of which are massive and built into the architecture. In Pazhujebi, the name of the stadium means "Stadium of the Planet," which tells a layman the sort of pride residents of the small Zahuj Peninsula village have in this grand park and in their club side. And that pride can hardly be questioned, as the stadium has played host to two Baptism of Fire finals, a Cup Winners' Cup final, and countless other prestigious events that have left the vicinity of the stadium incredibly well-developed despite the venue's relatively rural location in the forested hills of the Zahuj Peninsula - there are about a dozen pubs, as many restaurants, a nightclub, a golf course, and three large hotels right outside the stadium. Visitors will enjoy themselves, but should be warned: they will get wet... it rains a lot. Construction experts need not fear the combination of wood material and rainy conditions, as the Graha'ajat has repeatedly undergone water-resistance treatments administered by Stvoto Latolisi civil engineers.

Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the smelliest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

History

Associated Godlands has always harbored a passion for the game, but the most organized play that existed was churches playing against one another. However, the Associated Godlands government has recently decided to take a more vested interest in soccer, starting with entering the World Cup. In Associated Godlands's first ever international match in the Baptism of Fire, 50,000 followers made the long trip to Star United States to see them play out a 0-0 draw against Recuecn. Associated Godlands then scored their first goal and earned their first win in the next match against United RussoAsia, a 3-0 victory. They followed that up with a dominating 4-0 win over Helmon to finish first in the group and make the knockout stages. Unfortunately, they didn't last long, falling 5-1 to Port Christopher in the round of 16. But fans were still optimistic about Associated Godlands's chances in the upcoming World Cup. However, those hopes largely fell flat. Associated Godlands, despite their occasional shows of flair and the heroics of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, often looked lifeless, and only managed one win in 14 matches, along with four draws. The seven-point showing was disappointing, but the Obeyers were consolidated with an invitation to the Cup of Harmony. Unfortunately, they struggled once again, only gaining one point and finishing last in their group.

The Obeyers then entered their second World Cup campaign, confident of rebounding. It started well enough, as they won their first two games, and they continued to stay in contention. Unfortunately, the Obeyers didn't manage more than 16 points, and they failed to earn a playoff berth. They will now enter their second Cup of Harmony berth hoping to make the knockout stages.

Associated Godlands also has a rich history outside of soccer. The nation was established 2015 years ago when The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born and cast His glow over previously dark, barren lands. He made these lands, now called Associated Godlands, burst with life. Associated Godlands has been a paradise ever since.

This time around, the Lions are going to be a bit more aggressive, starting in the midfield. Alec Chapin of Nephara's Maximum Rovers replaces longtime starter Kyle Fleming in the center midfield. He'll roam forward in support of Emmanuel Moga while Cesar Martinez drifts back to cover up on defense. On the wing is Jake Rhodes, the speedster playing for Atlantea Hurricanes (he's their captain now, too!). Rhodes is an aggressive player with a nose for the goal and will almost function as an outside forward. His more attacking play means that Chris Parker will be putting his distributive skills to work more than his goal-scoring skills on the other wing. Backing up Rhodes will be Eli Barrett, who is well known as a strong fullback with good pace willing to challenge enemy attackers. Rhodes should be able to get back on D, given his speed and motor, but if he can't, then Barrett will be there to cut off any chances. Aaron Bowen, playing for Montreal Koreana, is now playing in his third World Cup and second as a starter. Thomas Barnett, the former U20 and Olympic keeper, will get his second starting role in a World Cup. Barnett is a good player, but he will definitely be relying on his defenders to help him out. Emmanuel Moga will provide a strong attack up front, but Jimmy Kelly replaces Chris Hodges as the striker up front. Kelly has been more productive domestically lately than Hodges anyway, and his late surge of good play in the World Cup and Cup of Harmony has earned the starting job. Casey Bowman anchors the middle of the back line, and Matt Wells will attack down the flanks, replacing the older Bradley Lancaster.

After putting up their best qualifying campaign to date, it would stand to reason that Omericans would be ecstatic, but alas. After going through ups and downs throughout qualifying, Omerica’s first XI have all refused to play in the Cup of Harmony, seeing it as a worthless consolation for the glory which was wrongfully stolen from Les Oiseaux in a blatantly rigged game against Osarius. With Omerica seething in bitter anger, Jean-Baptiste Archambault and the star eleven have hiked to Quebec in protest of Omerica’s elimination from the World Cup. As for the poor 22 players heading to Stvoto Latoli, a country that no Omerican has ever been happy to travel to, not even a piece of silverware may be able to soothe the souls of a nation simultaneously heartbroken and furious.

Omerica is a federation of twenty-six cantons in north-western Esportiva. Sharing a long and twisting land border with Varmelle to the west and maritime borders with Nephara and Soltsteed, Omerica has historically been the land of ʻeti Takiari, an Oceanic people famed among outsiders for the near impossibility of pronouncing their language. Quickly carved up into a smorgasbord of petty states upon the arrival of Indo-European peoples, a united geopolitical entity known as “Omerica” was unheard of until the 1820’s, when mounting threats of invasion lead to the ratification of the “Treaty of Friendship and Perpetual Union” by 25 states.

The treaty established a loose confederation to deal with matters of defence and foreign policy, but quickly became racked by indecision and stagnation. With the Confederation appearing easy to prey on, the constituent states made a move towards closer union in the 1890’s, establishing a full federation known as the Commonwealth in 1895, though the isle of Soltsteed notably refused to join and decried the Commonwealth as an illegal usurper regime, though this stance was quickly given up when Omerica and Soltsteed ratified the “Treaty of Free Association” in 1910.

Modern Omerica is run as a federal parliamentary republic, with sovereignty considered to rest in the hands of the people. The Prime Minister, commonly referred to by the Takiari title of Taiʻim Taha, is the de facto leader of the country, though the executive power of the office’s holder is constrained by a powerful upper house, a pluriform multi-party system, the bounds of almost-revered constitutional law and the peculiarities of Omerica’s multi-ethnic society and federal system. Although it has had a rocky history in the country, democracy has been considered the cornerstone of Omerican governance, with the country developing a strong democratic tradition since the ratification of the Basic Law and the establishment of the Commonwealth, commonly ranking as one of the most politically and socially free and open states in the multiverse, with high rates of economic, scientific and cultural development being a point of pride for Omericans.

Les Oiseaux historically relied on the assembly of a world class offensive line, though the exact success of that strategy is highly disputed. Despite poor showings under James-Alexandre Christopherson, Jean-Baptiste Archambault has kept the 4-2-1-3 formation used under Christopherson and has been unafraid of resorting to set pieces to claim the game.

With the farce of a game against Osarius enraging the country and Omerica’s best eleven especially, the Commonwealth’s star players will not be appearing in the World Cup, instead heading to Quebec to protest the Firebirds’ “qualification” for the World Cup. Thus, Omerica’s reserve players will make up the squad for a Cup of Harmony that no one wants to play in.

The former manager for United Philibiscostal, Archambault led the national team through its formative years in the international scene, but left by mutual consent after an underwhelming performance at the 12th Campionato Esportiva. After a short, but disappointing, return to club management at Royal Martecabras, the TAO rehired Archambault after firing James-Alexandre Christopherson for his failure to guide Omerica out of the Cup of Harmony group stage in KRYBEC. Archambault’s return was marked by an abandonment of the tempestuous nature the squad had developed, keeping many of the changes Christopherson made to the side in his tenure as Omerica manager, including Christopherson’s management team, though the controversy over the Osarius-Omerica game has called exactly how level-headed the side has become into question.

Assistant Manager: Ryan PRITCHARD
A long-time friend of former manager Christopherson and his assistant at La Corona, Pritchard is said to have the eye for talent that Christopherson and Archambault have been perceived to lack. Nicknamed “el Rey sin Trono” (“the King without a Throne”), rather lovingly by La Corona fans and disparagingly by others, for his management acumen and near-faultless loyalty to Christopherson, Pritchard suprised observers when he abandoned his long-time boss and agreed to stay with the Omerica team as assistant manager under a revived Archambault regime. Pritchard’s betrayal of his long-time friend and his relative lack of familiarity with Archambault were seen as signs that Pritchard may not be as influential in the team as he had once been, but his temporary rise to power as the Cup of Harmony manager has scuttled any suggestion of the sort.

The squad experienced an unprecedented stability since James-Alexandre Christopherson’s brutal sacking: all players from WC72 qualifying participated in the squad for Archambault’s return to the WCC stage. However, Jean-Baptiste Archambault and the normal Omerica starting XI have all opted to boycott the Cup of Harmony in protest of the Osarius v Omerica match which denied Omerica World Cup qualification. Consequently, players numbered 13-25 will be the usual starting squad and players numbered 26-35 will be available as substitutes. As a token of respect for the eleven boycotting players, Jean-Baptiste Archambault and Ryan Pritchard have opted not to assign the numbers 2-11 in the Cup of Harmony, but did name a cat to the team in order to fulfil rules requiring three named goalkeepers; the cat will take number 1 per the rules, but will not play in any matches. The Penguinish Football Federation (PFF), the governing body for football in the Arctic Union of Witty Penguins, is pleased to announce the official team roster for the upcoming 65th Cup of Harmony. After a successful recovery from a club injury, Lesley Dehart returns to the first eleven, with Pierre Fort moving to the substitution. Dehart also resumes his captaincy of the team. Allan Black has been moved to the substitution from the reserves, and Levi Cobb replaces Floyd Howard as defender. Howard moves to the reserve, along with Julian Thorpe. New addition Adrien Corbin replaces Thorpe as a substitute.

The team uniform for the Cup of Harmony will be the same uniform designed by Sphensci for the World Cup Qualifiers. Richard Peak and Jennifer Welton resume their positions as head coach and assistant coach (respectively). The Estelarian National Team
- also known as the Stargazers, nickname given after a poll with supporters -

Nation information:

Estelar is a small country, with a long seaside full of popular beaches. The capital city is Observatório, which is one of the few major urban areas of the country, and all matches in Estelar will be played at this city, in the Arena Galática (also called Arena do Observatório), with capacity for 40,000 people. As for attractions in the country, Estelar focuses on two main tourist activities: first, the country is very devoted to the environment, preserving vast forest reserves which are the habitat for rare animals which live in peace without much interference from humans or other sapient species. Therefore, Estelar ended becoming a top place for observing nature, animals, camping, trekking and radical sports involving the environment. There are several small cities that are filled with hotels which serve as headquarters for people who want to explore the forests later. On the north there is also a large dune area, which is also popular for sports. The other main tourism spot is on the seaside cities, close to the beaches which are as much preserved as the countryside. But then the characteristics of the cities and of the tourists change a lot. The hotels are more modern, the restaurants more elitist, and there are entire streets devoted to nightclubs and bars, and some are open 24 hours a day seven days per week. So, a paradise for partygoers and a place where you can meet a lot of people.

The country also has some specific characteristics which focus on the fact that Estelar was founded as a safe haven for women being oppressed and also as a place where nature would have a place to grow without interference. Cars are banned, and since most of the cities aren't really big, with Observatório being one of the few exceptions, people usually go to work or to parties by bicycle, and practically every citizen of Estelar has at least one bike. Also, nearly forty percent of the population is vegetarian, although you can find restaurants which serve meat on every corner. Estelar has dishes which focus a lot on rice, potatoes and beef for the non-vegetarians, although the most popular food in the country is the chocolate, considered to be one of the best in the multiverse, at least on our polls which involved only Estelarian citizens. Also, the majority of the population is composed of women, which hold the top positions in the government and the state companies. There are private companies, but they are restricted to very specific areas in which it isn't worth for the government to control. Laws against prejudice, especially racism, sexism and involving LGBT people are heavily punished: for foreigners it would be an extremely heavy fine, but for Estelarians it would involve going to jail. Once again we mention that the nation was founded by women fleeing hostile places, so there are several laws in order to protect them. For a long time Estelar was a country closed for men, but nowadays there aren't any limitations involving this. However, the country has its flaws: it is not a rich country, and ends being a very expensive country to live in for its citizens, due to the high inflation levels and the difficulties in importing goods: most people end living a humble life with few possessions. Also, healthcare problems have arisen, with a lack of medicines and hospitals, and a huge percentage of people addicted to drugs. Crime is rising due to the recent economic difficulties as well, with the most dangerous frequent crime being adulterated drinks and drugs being sold instead of their real counterparts.

About drugs, all of them are legal in Estelar, and can be sold in every shop. If there is one thing for the Estelarians which is as important as astrology for them, they are parties. Estelarians party a lot and for any reason: if the team wins they party, if they lose they party, if it is a draw they party, if someone lost her job they party, if there was an accident in the busiest street in the city they party, if the planets are aligned in a favourable option they party... well, I think you can get the idea. And in every party there is a lot, a lot, a loooottt of alcohol, with brandy being the top drink choice for most people in Estelar. Expect to see drunk people walking the streets every hour of the day, and loud music coming from office buildings even during commercial hours. Nightclubs and bars are very popular, as Estelar is probably the country with the highest ratio of lesbian clubs and bars per square mile: this is connected to the origins of the country and the liberal attitude which allow people to express themselves: most of the players playing for the Stargazers are lesbians, and love drinking and to party as well. Transgender people also receive full support funded by the country, the reason why many people travel to Estelar in order to transition.

Religion isn't a main issue in Estelar: most religions have official representatives in the country and several temples, but there is not an official one. However, there is one thing that Estelarians believe more than anything: astrology. Astrologers end being the most respected people in the entire country, and usually the president comes from a family of astrologers or is one herself. People usually make decisions considering the astral maps of themselves, of the people involved in the situation and interpreting how the position of the planets during that day would interfere with the decision. It is quite common to hear someone setting a specific day to sign a contract or to go out in a date because in this day the stars would be more favourable. More orthodox families even focus the studies of their children with relation to their zodiac signs, and sometimes people even break up relationships based on lack of astral map compatibility. The Stargazers also work in a similar way: depending on the position of the planets, the coach will change the strategy or even substitute a player who would be affected badly and could not perform well thanks to this astral effect. Predictions are extremely popular in the country and some astrologers are real pop stars, having their own shows and being able to fill stadiums in events in which they attempt to predict important things. Horoscopes also are an important thing in the daily life of the citizens: every person usually stops to read the horoscope before leaving home everyday, to go to work or just to go shopping: it is important to see what destiny is reserving for you, after all. There are days in which people ask to not work in the day due to a bad horoscope, and usually their bosses agree that it is a valid argument. In the subway or while riding their bikes with friends, people are always comparing and talking about the horoscope, and even make analysis of their love relationships based on signs. If someone thinks another person is attractive, the first thing she will ask is probably the sun sign of the love interest.

This leads to some division amongst the people due to their sun signs: Gemini people are considered to be false and not trustworthy, and due to this are the ones people most badmouth about. But it is also curious that it is also one of the most loved signs as well. This love or hate characteristic reflects on politics: Gemini politicians use to be the most popular ones, but they usually face an alliance of people of other signs who want to just stop a Gemini rising positions. Aries people have a bad reputation of confrontative people, who argue and want to be right everytime, and some people prefer to not have relationships with them in order to avoid too much stress. Cancer people also have several problems being considered too emotive, and are excellent for drama soap operas but horrible in other situations... well, practically every person is analyzed due to her astral map, and critics will always happen due to this. The current president is an Aquarius, Melina Carnaval. Talking about her, names and surnames of Estelarians sometimes have a relation with months, signs, commemorative dates, planets and stars. Talking more about the relationship between astral maps and the football team, there is always pressure on the coach that the team must be balanced, which means that it cannot have too many players of a single sign, and that every sign must be represented.

As for the climate, Estelar is a hot country in its entirety. During the winter the minimum temperature that can be reached is 0ºC, but even this is rare, and temperatures can reach 30ºC in the coldest months. During the summer don't expect temperatures less than 20ºC, but you can expect everyday temperatures around 35ºC, although they never reach 50ºC, don't you feel relieved? She is excellent at leaving the area and acting like a libero when needed, or at throwing herself on the feet of opponent players. However, she is very eccentric, loving to make plastic saves, high jumps and shouting at the opponents or the referee, which can create her problems. Outside the playing field, her love for brandy is well known, and when going out with her party-partner Vesta, both usually carry each other towards the taxi or the hotel. A bit childish, she hates daily responsibilities, so people always have to remember her of paying her bills or going to the doctor.

2- Sidonie Belini

More controlled than her team mate Ariana, Leona is the one who organizes the defensive sector of Estelar and commands it. She is one of the most experienced players, knowing how to give orders and organize people around her, and is a very balanced person who is trustworthy and hardly loses her temper, giving some pretty good speeches to motivate her team mates. Leona usually stays deep at the Estelarian defence, ready to be the last defender of the team before the opponents can reach Dani. Apart from her fame as a defender, Leona is also the president of the Players' Association of Estelar, and is also a politician, although currently on unpaid leave due to her responsibilities in football.

4- Ariana Pacheco

The brutal defender, Ariana is strong and doesn't forgive anyone. She seems to have a natural anger which she focuses on her opponents, and never gives up on trying to take the ball from an opponent attacker. Due to this she ends making too many fouls and receiving too many cards, but she is not violent... it is not that she wants to hurt the opponents, she just tries hard and attempts everything when defending. She came from a very poor neighbourhood in a foreign country, and she was able to find a better life in Estelar with foster parents, and even found in football a way to release her feelings and have something to enjoy and forget the difficulties, so Ariana's story is always a motivational one.

5- Éris Dezon

Seen as the biggest talent of Estelar in years, Éris is the true guardian of the defensive field of the team, ready to surprise an opponent with a precise tackling, which is her main ability. Very confident in her abilities, this sometimes makes her too arrogant, and she is often seen arguing with opponents, whom she loves to provoke into fights, or even her team mates when she thinks they made a mistake, but some people consider this to be just immaturity. However, her friends really like her and she seem to be someone people like to be together, when not playing football, of course. She also likes to discuss astrology, and loves to make jokes regarding signs.

6- Nicole Luna

Nicole seems to be an independent part of the team, who acts not strictly related to the team's strategies, and she really works better this way. Very honest, she always speaks her mind and never discusses with the referee or another authority figure, and admits when she has made a mistake or broke the car of her friend last night. In her daily life Nicole usually attempts to be off the spotlight, and not much is known of her personal habits.

7- Christine "Chrissie" Hacker

A defensive midfielder who usually plays more offensive than her position partner, Hacker is an important link in the team between defence and offence. A very popular player in the country, Vesta is always on the headlines: if not for a good performance in a match, then it is for a wild night out with Dani, her party-partner. Fond of beers, she always tries at least one new brand in every country she visits, until she is unable to remember her own name so perhaps it is best to stop for the day. Also very flirty, so usually she ends meeting new friends when going out at night. She is also a leader in movements defending transportation by bicycles.

9- Augusta Dreher

Ferocious on the field, we can consider Augusta to be really a player hungry for the ball. As a player she is the playmaker of the team, calculating which moves will work better against an specific team and being the spokesperson for the coach, even though Dani is the captain. By the way, her relationship with Dani is one of love and hate, as she is a very organized and emotive person, and it is usually difficult to deal with the childish, selfish and drunk attitude of her team mate, who is also her ex-girlfriend. Critics on her performance usually depress her, so she avoids reading the news during a competition.

11- Imogene Gallacher

Very determined, Imogene is a player who respects the tactics set by the coach, although she is not shy in taking risks.

She likes to show that she is now rich and confident, and attract a lot of people this way.

14- Carolina "Carol" Andromeda

She is considered by many to be the mother of the younger players, sometimes even scolding them after mistakes. And, by the way, she has returned recently from a pregnancy, so she didn't receive much playing time in the last months.

17- Ceres Vlindmann

Ceres is quite the opposite of Beatrix: the second is an intelligent and patient player, while the first is a strong and excellent dribbler. Gia is also very problematic, a heavy user of drugs which have put her on rehabilitation centres twice already. She easily argues and fights with anyone, and a misplaced comment suddenly gets under her skin and makes her an enemy, and she never forgets. Well, what would you expect with this mix of signs... Aries, Scorpio, Gemini...

19- Amber Gondelle

She knows she is just adding numbers in the squad, but remains happy and proud just to be part of the National Team. She is cute, a nice friend to have after all, I like her too.

24- Áquila Lacerda

Áquila is a versatile player. So, although she is listed here as a centre-back, she also plays really well as a defensive midfielder. So, thinking about this, it is natural to realize that as a defender Áquila plays more up front, challenging the opponent attackers and even attempting several times to go to the opposing area during an aerial move... well, she isn't that sucessful, but sometimes scores one goal or another. The oldest player of the squad, Áquila is one who can control the ball well and resists a lot of pressure, and will also shield more controversial characters with excuses to the press.

25- Zélia Hart

In her domestic club she is a leader of assists, and is considered to be an excellent team player. But she still hasn't done much physical training, and due to this tends to be easily tackled when facing stronger opponents. She is very emotional and tends to take more responsibility than she needs, so you usually see her trying to participate in all moves both in attack and defence.

Jupiter is very ambitious, and very demanding, so even though the team is still unexperienced she will expect a lot from them and complain to the players if things go wrong. She is a tactical coach, so will try to make the players behave in specific strategies and moves. But she has a softer side, of course: she always brings her daughter to the matches, and is a good Monopoly player, which means she is someone nice to have during team meetings! Has recently decided to leave the team after the Cup of Harmony and move to an isolated community in order to be more in contact with nature after receiving a message from an horoscope.

Joao Ferreira was a surprising name to lead the national team but has shown his capacities when it comes to leading a group and forming a firm tactical scheme. His firm decisions, amongst which giving the captain’s ribbon to the experienced Flavio Kanté and changing the starting line-up did pay off as the Banguelan national team was one of the positive surprises of the World Cup qualifiers. Taking seven victories in only twelve games was a seldom done performance by a Baptism of Fire squad, especially one that had faltered there in the quarterfinals. The top moment certainly was the double victory against Legalese, a great scalp to take home. As a consequence, Os Gnus were rewarded with a ticket for the Cup of Harmony. Manager Joao Ferreira holds on to his recipe, only bringing in one new face as a replacement for the injured Helder Barbosa. There is some pressure amongst the group, however. Several players are looking for a chance abroad and this tournament is the stage to find one, while others such as a Flavio Kanté and Carlos Neto are well aware this might be their last stand.

1. Joao Pinto - goalkeeper - Uniao Mpulo - 17 appearances

At the age of 31, Joao Pinto constitutes a capital element within the iron backbone of Uniao Mpulo, without hesitation considered as the strongest sides across the nation. The lanky Joao Pinto is notorious for the miraculous saves he shakes out of his gloves at times but makes a gaffe every once and a while as well. Still ’A Pantera’ is an almost undisputed number one for the nation and one of the faces of this national eleven. It is the result of guarding the nets for Uniao for nine seasons in a row, growing from a young kid with a big mouth into a more forethoughtful goalkeeper who can lead a back four and earns respect from fans and opponents alike. The vice-captain of the Banguelan side is a vital key player.

2. Ze Mata - right defender - Uniao Mpulo - 16 appearances – 1 goal

There are a few solid laws in football that are seldom broken and one of those is that you do not position guys who reach below a metre seventy as defender. Ze Mata defies that rule already 29 years with class and volume. ‘A Buldogue Negro’ will be the first one on and the last one off the training pitch and all those hours result in a very strong right back. When in defence, he has a proper tackle in his skillset along with a good insight and dedicated teamplay. Offensively, he often pops up at the wing both for a long pass or in a combination over the ground. It makes Ze Mata a polyvalent player who is beloved by fans and coaches for his positive attitude towards the group. A true key man for Uniao Mpulo, despite his size.

3. Jacinto Freite - central defender - Uniao Mpulo - 11 appearances

It is an enigma to several followers of the career of Jacinto Freite how he eventually ended up as a central defender. The young version of this tall bundle of muscles was used as a targetman by numerous coaches, until a series of unexpected injuries forced the Uniao Mpulo manager to position him as defending midfield. A season lower, Jacinto Freite was pushed even a row more back. The result? A sturdy back with an impressive header, tons of horse power and a remarkable rush forward every once and a while. When dominating, as Mpulo often does, this makes him a match decider quite often but if his team is not the superior side, the lack of experience of this 30-year as pure defender becomes a bit more visible.

4. Djalma Yaba - central defender - Brasília Suchitoto [SJG] - 17 appearances

The main back will be Djalma Yaba, who must be considered as the strongest defender in the nation. After receiving a thorough guidance at Academica Bassuto, he was transferred to Sporting Clube Bassuto at 21 where he formed an unbreakable duo with Bada. Currently 26 years old, Djalma Yaba can account on the whole package for the modern defender: a strong header and tackler, the impressive speed of a lanky player yet powerful enough to survive the duelling. The main criticism on this gifted defender stems from his tendency to give risky passes forward – root of either a brilliant opening or a dangerous situation – and his big mouth. His bright performance at the BoF earned him a lucrative transfer to San José Guayabal.

5. Luis Cangé - left defender - Atletico Ntangele - 14 appearances – 1 goal

‘A tad boring’ seldom is a compliment but Luis Cangé carries that predicate with pride. The calm and reliable left back has not got too much to offer when it is about offensive initiatives but the 27-year old forms someone with the tactical discipline and insight for the manager to build on. Domestically, he is feared by the countless quick-feeted wingers that terrorize our pitches for his well-timed and correct tackles. Another way in which Luis Cangé reminds one of a government bond is the lack of risk he constitutes: the Atletico Ntangele player hardly ever picks up a yellow card and picks certainty over anything in his passing. With an eye on the low experience the Banguelans have with this level, he is a valuable alternative to the starters.

6. Chingala - left winger - SC Bassuto - 15 appearances – 1 goal

It is not easy to give a specific position for Chingala, but we generally tend to categorize him as a left midfielder at 29. As a player for SC Bassuto, he usually manages to be left back and left wing at once, not afraid to make a rush into space nor go and keep an opposing attacker in control. It makes Chingala a vital player for SC and their mastermind Flavio Kanté as he is both a vacuum cleaner and an offensive option to get the ball to. His cross passes are not exceptional, but he makes up in volume for that. For someone who spends most of his time on the wing, he makes a decent winger and his control over a long pass is very strong. It all makes the calm Chingala a silent force both for SC Bassuto and the national side.

7. Figuerinho - defensive midfield - Luis Ángel Firpo [SJG] - 15 appearances – 1 goal

With Figuerinho, at 24 still a major prodigy, the manager adds a whole different type of defending midfield to his squad. A bit slim for the position, he makes up in raw power with impressive insight in the game and crucial positioning. This polite son from a former minister puts as little risk as possible in his game, but can dictate the pace and forms an unnoticed maestro with that. His impressive calm made him despite his age already captain for Vitoria, being overlooked due to his lesser stats. The Guayabalan side Luis Ángel Firpo understood that his other skills firmly compensate that and signed him for four seasons. His typical skills are very useful when time asks for it and it earned him a spot in the starting squad.

8. Edison Joao - central midfielder - Desportivo Mpulo - 13 appearances – 2 goals

While Edison Joao is often overlooked by the big masses, this powerful midfield from Desportivo Mpulo has gained a status as cult hero for Desportivo Mpulo despite his age of 26. The reason is his grinta, his willingness to go for every ball and capacity to cover a lot of ground for ninety minutes. Do not mistake him as a simple box-to-box runner, Edison Joao has a fine pass in his left foot and often stimulates the counterattack with his dangerous infiltrations. Something that hasn’t been missed by the national manager which earned him this selection, despite his lack of calmness eye-in-eye with the goalie. Not an undisputed starter initially, he punched his ticket to the starting eleven with his stamina and delivered a few assisting passes.

9. Ze Vidigal - right attacker - Uniao Mpulo - 16 appearances – 6 goals

It was not so easy to compare so far due to a lack of unified competition, but newspapers on the hand of Uniao Mpulo tend to proclaim Ze Vidigal as the most dangerous striker of the nation. Often operating from the right side off the pitch, defenders tremble over his infiltrations. Quick feet and the necessary firepower generally do the trick here. At 31, Ze Vidigal hangs on to the peak of his capacities and has grown from a scruffy type into a tabloid star with the yearly changing model by his side. High goals tally’s, nice technique, well, there has to be a downside? Ze Vidigal is not the hardest working lad in the business and many wonder how that will turn out when Banguela gets under pressure but that he’s starting seems out of the question.

10. Flavio Kanté - central midfielder - SC Bassuto - 16 appearances – 3 goals

Already for more than a decade, Flavio Kanté is probably the best-known face in Banguelan football. At 34, he can already look back at several glorious moments with Sporting Clube Bassuto, a team which is built around this two-footed midfielder. O Chefe combines tons of natural charisma and leadership with a pair of brilliant feet and a vision of similar quality. His main low is a rather moderate speed, which often puts him a bit back further down the pitch although he can be a danger in front of goal due to his excellent positioning. Flavio Kanté has earned the confidence from Joao Ferreira as the man behind the attackers and lived up that, delivering several decisive passes. He’s going towards the end of his career, but wants to go out with a bang.

11. Rui Mokanga - left attacker - Uniao Mpulo – 10 appearances – 7 goals

Without any doubt the sturdiest of our present strikers, the 22-year old Rui Mokanga is discovering how quick a take-off can go in football nation. Only two years ago, he was discussing quiting football, not making enough as left attacker from the minor Clube Tengala to support his family. But out of the blue, Uniao Mpulo picked him up and after a few months with the youth squad, he got promoted. Rui Mokanga impressed there with his lethal combination of natural strength and unexpected speed of execution. Despite being over a metre ninety, his handling of the leather is fluent and infiltrations to be feared, with a proper outcome in goals. Has grown mature and become a starter, a transfer abroad seems just a matter of days.

12. Guilhermo Marques - goalkeeper - Tshemanda Clube

It is not accidental that the 23-year old Guilhermo Marques earned himself the status of reserve goalie. Till a year ago, he used to be a noble unknown to anyone but the dedicated follower. Things changed, however, when the spot between the posts at Tshemanda Clube became wide open and the management picked up a sympathetic youngster from the province to fill that gap. The only one in the selection to reach the double metre, Guilhermo Marques is a force of nature on goal but still a lot quicker to the ground than you would expect. His moderate footwork and lack of experience at the highest level make sure that he will have to warm the bench but his dominance in the air shows promise for the future.

13. Mananga - central attacker - SC Bassuto - 5 appearances – 1 goal

We’re still not entirely sure whether his manager meant it as an insult or as a compliment but he once said about Mananga that he’s “the worst footballer to score so often”. A late bloomer, only five years at the highest level with Sporting Clube Bassuto but already 31, he never earned the respect he deserves. Admittedly, his skill level is low and fans used to snicker when another attempted dribble got smothered between his clumsy legs. A grin that quickly would disappear once he fired one behind his goalie. Mananga ain’t a technical ace but compensates this with a range of physical skills which make him a difficult fellow to defend and a state of mind which is necessary for a striker - confidence in that he’ll turn that one little chance into a decisive goal.

14. Amarinho - attacking midfielder – Gorfalle Town [FFD] - 7 appearances – 1 goal

Several descriptions are made, attempting to grasp him as so few defenders can. ‘The quicksilver legs’. ‘The twirling terror’. ‘The dribble of the Gods’. ‘The uncatchable one’. Uniao Mpulo fans generally just describe him as Amarinho, their beloved number ten. No Banguelan manages so well to tear apart a defence and decide a game with a clever pass, a witty back heel or a piercing shot. Hardly reaching a metre seventy-five, his reaction speed is exceptional as is his touch of the ball. Despite his rebellious image, it goes with a clever head that often thinks one step ahead. But his limited stamina did not result in glory in the national team so far and his relation with Joao Ferreira is moderate. Will his transfer abroad give him a new start at 25?

15. Nefala - defensive midfield - Uniao Mpulo – 4 appearances

The body of an adult wardrobe, shoulders that are twice the regular size and a typical neck, it’s no wonder that they tend to call the 28-year old Nefala ‘the Ox’. A true force of nature for Uniao Mpulo, Nefala will clean up after the attacking wizards that make the crowd explode with delight. This makes this gentle giant a very important paw in the scheme of his domestic coach as his tackling and shoulder charges, his simple passes and endless running ameliorate the whole team. His limited technique of this defensive midfield did not suffice at the international level so far and there is a little chance he’ll start a game with Figuerinho in shape. But when he joins the fight, players can be sure that Nefala won’t leave the scene until he has given all he’s got.

16. Joaquim Lebo - central defender - Tshemanda Clube – 3 appearances

While the majority had expected Helder Quinto, the defender from Sporting Clube Bassuto, or Nando Dias who partook in the Baptism of Fire, Joao Ferreira decided to add a central defender to the line-up. Only 20, Joaquim Lebo should be considered a long-term choice as this two-footed back has potential to go far. At Tshemanda Clube, he is already a starter for nearly two seasons, if that’s a testimony to his potential. Not afraid to face more physical opponents and not too slow either, he can handle any type of opponent. Even if he is already quite mature for his age, an occasional moment of lack of attention is not impossible. His debut on the national side was mixed, showing the very best but also difficult moments. Will he continue his rise?

17. Cristobal da Silva - central defender - SC Bassuto

In general, Joao Ferreira tends to add youngsters to the line-up but with the 26-year old Cristobal da Silva, he made an exception. With a good reason, however, as da Silva managed to salvage the gaping hole left in the SC Bassuto defence upon the departure of Djalma Yaba. Many question if he will have plenty of playing minutes as the starting three stand firm and Joaquim Lebo forms a raw diamond but when he will have to hit the pitch, da Silva should not disappoint. Not specially tall, but a good header, not specifically quick, but a good pace, not a natural leader, but good vision. If put in a combination with the right people, he can do his bit of the job. Especially interesting as he has a proper right foot, a surprisingly seldom skill in our CD compartment.

18. Lopes Valdo - right defender - Desportivo Mpulo – 1 appearance

The back-up for Ze Mata comes from the neighbours of Desportivo Mpulo with the 25-year old Lopes Valdo who demonstrates that talent eventually will hit the surface. At only 17, he suddenly popped up in the first team of Mpulo FC but three years later his dream was a nightmare and his contract disbanded after disciplinary issues. After a year working in construction, Desportivo gave him a second chance at glory and hasn’t regretted so far. Lopes Valdo combines three lungs with a fine cross pass into the box. Not afraid to join the attack, he is beloved by the audience but that doesn’t make this right wing defender neglect his defensive tasks. Could work on his timing and a proper header would be fine as well, but nonetheless his career is finally back on the rails.

19. Wilson Zuela - central midfielder - Randoil Purtaruca - 2 appearances – 1 goal

Central midfielder Wilson Zuela, a crafty fellow who earns his wage since this season for Randoil Purtaruca, the brand-new club founded for professional football by the nation’s biggest oil company, impressed during his sole game in the BoF. During the last few years, this 23-year old got some attention playing for Progresso Purtaruca and Zanda SC as a clearheaded number ten. The stat that might have attracted the attention is the one of his assisting passes, where Wilson Zuela shows his vision quite often. One should wonder if this doesn’t come to soon, lacking experience at the highest level so far. We will see whether his refined passing will convince the non-believers or whether his pace of execution is too slow to handle the kind of teams Banguela faces here.

20. Carlos Neto - left attacker - Associaçao Bassuto - 11 appearances – 1 goal

With 35, Carlos Neto is one of the more senior players in the selection, but the left-footed attacker still goes strong despite the kilometres on the counter. The Associaçao Bassuto forward is one of those players who excels in nothing particular but, as a consequence, is so versatile that he finds the weak spot of most defenders. Being it either in or out the box, one better keeps an eye on Carlos Neto before he makes the nets tremble again. Will he tear up a defence and score three? Probably not, but he does his bit of the work and has an eye open for a fellow teammate. A team player on and off the pitch and that gave him the spot in the selection over more technically skilled but lazier strikers. Carlos Neto, an appreciable lad but probably his last selection.

21. Fulco - right midfielder - Associaçao Bassuto – 3 appearances

The easiest way in which we can characterize Fulco is by explaining how this skilled right midfielder earned his name. Just to the south of Berange, his original home town where he played for the local side for nearly a decade before switching to Associaçao Bassuto two seasons ago, there lies a range of three volcanoes. Two of them have died out but the smallest one still rumbles and whirls every once and a while. Its name? Fulco. Limited posture gets made up with fire in his legs and heart. Fulco has interesting variety in his game, infiltrating to the centre from time to time but being capable of making a move over a wing attacker. A 25-year old who will always do his bit but that does include picking up a card every now and then.

22. Bogwa - right attacker - Uniao Lumpala

It seems to be a clear strategy from the new national team manager that new guys must lower the average age. With the 22-year old Bogwa, this target is certainly reached. Playing for arguably the weakest side of the Superliga, Bogwa has been getting accustomed to battling against strong opposition with little support. A pocket-size player, he has impressive technical skills and dares to shoot from unexpected corners, but not always with the same result. The Lumpala forward has earned some fame for his capacity to score penalties from which, according to the legend, never missed a single one. A guy with potential and he might form an interesting reserve player when battling against a firm double wall.

23. Landa Landa - goalkeeper - Azules de Feranda

As expected no Antonio Lupapa as third goalie as the Ntangele veteran has declared himself that he’s ‘too old for this stuff’. No Akongo either, the SC Bassuto who is generally considered a stronghold between the posts but not a solution for the future at 33. As a consequence, Landa Landa got an invitation to the national team in the mailbox along with his 23th birthday cards. Quite spectacular and not afraid of giving a little bit of drama to his saves and coaching but beyond the surface is a sturdy and reliable goalkeeper who has the capacity to build a nice career. An advantage is as well that he recognises that he is number three in the picking order and that he will just appreciate being on the bench along with all these big players.

The Polkopian Football Association is a relatively new organization which serves as the governing body for the Polkopian Premier League, as well as the Polkopian National Team itself. The National Team was formally under government control, where the Polkopian government had overseen all duties that were associated with creating and maintaining a National Team. Despite hard measures taken by the Polkopian government, the Polkopian National Team had very little success internationally, and thus, failing to ignite passion for the sport.

After the Polkopian Football Association, or PFA, was established, the team was completely restructured, though coaching and managerial staff remained the same. A domestic league was established in order for the Polkopian players to gain experience against players from other nations, as well as their own. Furthermore, new youth academies were set up in order to assure that the Polkopian youth could gain experience with the hope of one day representing their nation on an international stage.

Home Stadium:

The "Hanisov Stadiona", or Hanisov Stadium, is the home stadium for the Polkopian National Football Team. The stadium itself is relatively new, having only just been built five years ago, and seats a total of 78,000 spectators. The stadium had been originally constructed to field the club team, Peeto Gordost', but the PFA, or Polkopian Football Association, changed it last minute. ICELFA Roster for Cup of Harmony LXV

Demonym: Eastfielder

Eastfield Lodge is a pretty glorious nation, somewhat situated in Northern Rushmore - in reality, there's a very small island (acting as a transport hub) which hosts a portal linking the NSverse to a small bubble universe, wherein the rest of the Imperial Commonwealth is located (barring a couple of nations, but they’re linked up in other ways). The IC part describes the fact that there are several empires contained within one superstructure – divisions which are somewhat reflected in the convoluted league structure.

Those of you who know this nation well however will wonder what has happened to the Whoniverse (the universe of Doctor Who, the TV programme). Don’t worry, I will (hopefully) RP what went on. To those who don’t know, this nation used be in the NSverse, but due to the acts of a lone madman from The Holy Empire (mad, or pitiful, the legends are a bit shaky), Eastfield Lodge almost vanished from existence, leaving behind a small island (now in Rushmore), attached to a portal connecting here to the Whoniverse. Things happened, the portal became unstable, and we had to form a bubble universe, and as a result, the resulting temporal shockwave both wiped out all electronic records, and did some weird stuff to people’s ages (hence why some names in the team may seem recognisable).

Anyways, because of the initial portal, whilst humans are the overwhelming majority of the populace here, don't be surprised to find several other races and much advanced technology here. Some more historical information can be found here, in lieu of a factbook (NB: a lot of the information there is inaccurate though, TG me for clarification).

Back to the nation itself, Eastfield Lodge is probably the best place to live in the entirety of Rushmore, according to the WA at any rate. Amongst the accolades heaped upon are: Most Compassionate Citizens, Most Beautiful Environments, Happiest Citizens, Most Dedicated Public Healthcare, Healthiest Citizens, Least Corrupt Government, Longest Average Lifespan, Lowest Crime Rates, Nicest Citizens, Largest Public Transportation Department, Safest, Smartest Citizens, Most Popular Tourist Destinations, Best Weather and Largest Welfare Programs. Also of note is the fact that, in a region containing Saintland, Eastfield Lodge is the Most Devout nation, with Islam being the national religion, and that we have the Highest Police Ratios, so do not be alarmed by the sheer number of police officers.

Age: 52. Manager of Seaton Town, Brown is known in Eastfield Lodge for being one of the fairest and impartial managers in the top flight - if his team were lucky with a decision, he will not claim otherwise. Prior to being selected as National Team managed, he had managed on the international scene previously, being put in charge of both the men’s and women’s Olympic football teams, featuring most of the players selected for the qualifying campaign.
Coach: Shabeen Ahmad III
Age: 57. He went down in Eastfield Lodge history as having scored an absurd 201 goals in 215 appearances for the EL national team (records are still being compiled, but he looks likely to be the human player with the highest tally). Still an inspiration to everyone and even at this age his skill is noticeable, even if his agility has waned. He has been the main offensive coach for several World Cups now.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

#14 Isa Tangemen - Armeia's keeper situation is complicated, with Ander Jordyn dropping out of the squad to avoid getting injured before the start of the Women's Division 1 season. Dierk Tanzer is out also, to avoid suffering an offseason injury. This has led to two youth keepers and one veteran competing for the spot, and so far Sporting World Cup standout Isa Tangemen is the starter.

#4 Kenneth Berringer - R.C Lions wingback Kenneth Berringer is the starting left back, who can also fill in at CB. Good instincts and good at getting back after attacking.

#3 Bojan Fertig - Unsigned CB Bojan Fertig makes up the first of the centerback pairing. 21, Fertig captained third division side Redtown FC to a promotion before deciding to look for a new challenge. Expected to sign soon, maybe with Real Barrier or maybe with Kyang, at the season's end.

#29 Alek Sander - R.C Atlas wingback and centerback Alek Sander makes up the second part of the pairing. One of the best defenders in the league and at 25, he just wrapped up negotiations for a new four year deal to stay at Atlas.

#7 Boom Redman - Boom Redman did a lot for the U-21 team and showed everyone that they were wrong in saying he shouldn't have been picked for the Sporting World Cup. Incredible speed means he can play wingback or winger, and he has a skill in gaining assists. Plays for Sporting CC but likely to leave after their relegation.

MIDFIELDERS

#5 Alakare Abbey - A survivor of AirLoftus flight 414, Alakare Abbey is 20 years old and filling in for Soren Bayer, who isn't willing to accept a national team callup. Formerly a centerback, she's moving to a deep playmaker role, that Bayer made famous in Armeian squads. She was a bright spot in World Cup Qualifying, leading the team in assists.

#12 Tilo Abrammson - The Atlas central mid will look to run the show so to speak, setting up Milan Toure and the strikers for good chances as well as poaching when possible, like on set pieces. Signed for Atlas this summer.

#98 Zoran Michel - 20 year old Real Barrier prodigy Zoran Michel is going to be moving from the defensive midfield to the attacking midfield this season. He showed great promise, but missed the majority of last year with a bad ACL injury. His recovery is going okay, not great, but okay.

FORWARDS

#10 Milan Toure - He may be the most well known athlete in Armeia. The 24 year old ex-Atlas star had a meteoric rise, leading Atlas to their only title before signing a groundbreaking five year twenty one million dollars a year contract with Redtown side R.C Lions. Extremely dangerous near goal, an excellent poacher who's almost always in position.

#1 Christa Cruz - Famous for her ego and for her frequent clashes with her teammates at Northeastern, Christa Cruz is the biggest rising star in Armeian women's football. She won Armeia the Emperor's Cup and in doing so made herself a target for every team in the country. Extremely smart even though that's not apparent at first glance, she knows how to make space by using angles.

#17 Reina Toure - The other Toure on the squad, Reina is breaking into the first team as a starter for the first time. Incredibly shifty and good at one versus ones in enclosed spaces like near the corner flag. Coming out of a slump where personal problems involving her family caused her to play with bad form earlier.

The grizzled stalwart of Skoljard FC, Pietro Tomaselli has been a fixture between the sticks in the Echani Premier League since he was 17, and has spent all that time in peak form really. He has fantastic positioning; putting himself in a spot where he can easily catch the ball instead of having to make a diving save. He is highly admired among the Echani fans for his loyalty and professionalism between the posts, and was key in goal in the 2-1 Baptism of Fire 3PPO against Thaldor.

#2: RB (RWB/RM/RW): Francesco Di Nolfo (Club Ithinia) Available for international transfer
Age: 23 years old - Height: 5’11 - Weight: 153lbs
A quick player who is skilled on the ball, Francesco Di Nolfo started his career as a winger before being moved into defence. He loves to charge forward in attack, using his dribbling ability and speed to navigate the right side of the field. He’s still a project defensively, but his natural ability plus his youth means that Francesco might soon become one of the best defenders in the league.

#3: CB (CDM): Ian Khamauiop (Rosaria United) CAPTAIN

The Old Stone, Ian Khamauiop has been around in the heart of the Rosaria United defense for as long as anyone can remember. He has a fantastic sense of where to be to snuff out attacking movements, and is given the freedom to patrol the defense in much the same manner as Mulcair and Irlian Ceka are free to move around the offensive line to find spots to be most effective. Rumors are abound that he is hanging up his boots at the conclusion of the Cup of Harmony, but we will have to see. Scored a legendary last minute goal to secure an away draw against #7 Vilitia in the 73rd World Cup.

#5: CB (LB): Willian Luc Villaview (Monmartre)
Age: 22 years old - Height: 6’1 - Weight: 164lbs
An exciting young prospect, Luc Villaview has outstanding pace and agility, and dominates the defensive line. He put in a series of good performances at the Baptism of Fire, frequently stepping into the space behind Samper Markovic to grab loose balls or to quickly close down a forward/midfielder to freeze them, before retreating back down the field.

A pacey left back, Luke Albom likes to operate at the left midfield spot and pushes forward and holds there when in attack to shore up space left open as Antonio Mulcair cuts inside at goal. He’s comfortable on the ball, but prefers to pass it to one of the more creative midfielders before him. Albom is a very competent defender, pushing wingers out towards the touchline and herding them out of bounds.

He is one of the most exciting young Echani talents, and he is quickly becoming one of the top midfielders in the league.

Age: 31 years old - Height: 5’8 - Weight: 152lbs
A metronome in possession, Xavier plays short passes with the intent at recycling the ball. He is very creative, pinging the ball around the midfield as the team advances up the field. He’s been a permanent fixture in FC Rosaria’s midfield since bursting onto the scene looking more mature beyond his 19 years of age. He’ll play the same deep lying playmaker role for the national team that he does for his club, just precise, probing, patient passing.

An extremely creative, highly technical playmaking midfielder, Jean-Marie Bentacur is one of the top five Echani midfielders, and brings an instant offensive spark the moment he steps on the pitch. A quick and electric dribbler, Jean-Marie seeks to drive forward in attack and to make use of his dribbling, silky smooth touch, an eye for the killer pass, and a fantastic long shot. A key component of the national team, Jean-Marie Bentacur keeps the offensive game clicking.

The golden boy of Echani football, Marco van Ciavatinni nabbed the starting spot at the tail end of the 73rd World Cup thanks to an injury to LaHoya and hasn’t looked back yet. A brilliant attacking threat, van Ciavatinni is a real livewire with the ball at his feet, and might actually move faster when he’s dribbling. A beautifully simple player, Marco is a master of feints, stop and starts, simple moves to send his opponent one way while he goes the other. He has a sharp eye for the pass, and has already displayed a wide passing range. His shot is starting to come around; Marco van Ciavatinni prefers to place his shot in the next as he lacks major shooting power, but as his body develops expect that to change.

A striker very suitable for the probing possession based game Eshan plays, Irlian Ceka likes to roam from the striker position to find areas where he can help play build. Strong passing and dribbling skills lead to Ceka creating plenty of chances for his teammates. However, as an actual scoring striker, Irlian Ceka leaves a lot to be desired.

Starting formation: The Eshan National Team plays a 4-2-3-1, with two holding centre backs and 2 all-purpose wingbacks charging up and down the flanks.The right central midfielder (Samper Markovic) is a physical presence who is tasked with breaking up opposing play, winning the ball, and offering an unpredictable and dynamic creative outlet who is always looking to create chances for his teammates. Xavier plays as a deep-lying playmaker (LCM), while Jean-Marie Bentacur (CAM) enganche/advanced playmaker and dictates the offensive game,. The two wingers act as both inside-forwards, given the freedom to cut in and attack goal or look for the overlapping wingbacks. He frequently drops deep to make room for Mulcair cutting in and Ceka’s unpredictable off the ball movement. Antonio Mulcair is the team's primary goal scoring threat, and sits narrow on the left wing; waiting for the ball to make its way to him, while striker Irlian Ceka is given the freedom to get into the positions he thinks will get him a chance at goal. As the game progresses, it is not unusual to see the Echani team switch to different formations to counter certain threats, take advantage of mismatches, and to react to the game and try to influence it in a pro-Echani way.

Playstyle: The Echani team plays a patient attacking game, moving the ball around quickly with primarily short passes, searching for a weakness in the oppositions defensive play. When a weakness is identified, the team surges forward in attack, with quick interlocking play to bring to ball to the goal. Creative freedom is given to the strikers, wingers, and the advanced playmaking midfielder, as well as the directive to roam from their position in an attempt to find pockets of space where they may be more effective. The team closes down quickly, aiming to win back possession in five seconds or less. Failing that, the team drops deep into defensive positioning to shore up any vulnerabilities. Echani defenders stay on their feet rather than trying desperate slide tackles. When in attack, the defensive line pushes higher up to pitch to condense play.

History of San Llera
San Llera has a long and storied history and has always had a passion for the game (In fact, the native peoples of San Llera claim to have invented soccer, though their claim is rarely recognized or even acknowledged). However, San Llera has only participated in the World Cup. Just prior to that World Cup, San Llera participated in its first international tournament, a tournament for newcomers entitled the Baptism of Fire. The Baptism of Fire started very well for San Llera with a perfect 5-wins-in-5-games group stage, but the 1-seed San Llera was knocked out in the round of 16 by 16-seed Flardania. It was a disappointing end to their run, but it still left San Llera confident that they could do well in World Cup Qualifying. Unfortunately, they were often left at the mercy of more experienced nations, and San Llera disappointed their hopeful fanbase with a mere 11 points in 14 games, not even coming close to qualifying for the World Cup.

In San Llera's second attempt at qualifying for the World Cup, they hoped to do a bit better now that they had some experience, but they disappointed once again. With 14 points, a small improvement, they left qualifying in sixth place and without a ticket to either the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony. However, they did settle for an invite to the Runner Cup, where they found more success against weaker opponents, eventually being outed in the semifinals but finishing third in the tournament, the best finish for a San Lleran team at any sporting event to date. San Llera looked to ride that momentum into their first regional competition, the Copa Rushmori. But they didn't ride momentum. Instead, they lost three games out of three, none of which were particularly close. But after San Lleran teams found success in other sports, the soccer team hopes to replicate that in the third stab at qualification.

In that third stab, San Llera definitely showed improvement, by consistently beating weaker opponents like Mangetsujima, Shtiar Bakal, and Maretta. Unfortunately, they couldn't take the next step and beat the teams ranked ahead of them, so they finished a reasonable fourth, with 17 points from 12 matches. Luckily, they now have an invitation to their first Cup of Harmony, and they hope to advance past the group stages.

As for the history of the nation itself, here is an excerpt from the national factbook:
"San Llera came into existence as the natives rose up against their overseas captors in 1857. After a bloody coup which resulted in the beheadings of most foreign government officials, San Llera remained stagnant as the natives returned to their old ways. The first president of San Llera was Dorano Trecci, a member of the Homeland Party. Parties have since been outlawed in San Llera. Recently, with the "presidency" of Alejandro Llano, San Llera has experienced a boom in population and economy along with urbanization. However, the people maintain their old traditions today."

Travel Guide
Should you be traveling to San Llera, here are some tips and information:
-The only airport in San Llera is Llerana International Airport, which is nine hours away from the stadium. Should you be traveling to qualifiers, it is recommended that you fly to one of the airports in the surrounding countries and then take a boat to Port Cremando, a pleasant city that is within walking distance of the stadium.
-In terms of language, San Llerans mostly speak San Lleran, a close relative of Catalan. Catalan- and Spanish-speakers should be able to communicate rather easily, and many San Llerans know English, as linguistics is one of the most popular studies in the nation. In general, people will be very hospitable towards you if you make an attempt to learn their language. If you don't, San Llerans can be very bitter.
-The color red is no longer banned in San Llera, but it is still highly discouraged that you wear it, as it may lead to hostility from San Lleran fans. Any other visiting fans not wearing red will be treated with warmth.
-A common mistake visitors make is calling the people of San Llera "Llerans." Do not do this! A Lleran is a specific race in San Llera (races in the country are based on soccer team allegiance, not color of skin), and Llarens or Patrians will take great offense.

Camp a L'aigua ("Field on the Water") Capacity - Unknown

You may notice that this stadium has no stands. While San Llera has plenty of modern stadia (with stands) to choose from, the site of soccer for thousands of years is the national stadium. Located in the Cremando Mountains on the giant Lake Aigua, the lack of stands does not prevent fans from coming out to see their team play. Fans will crowd any land they can find. Some passionate fans go out on boats to find space, others tread water for two hours. One infamous match against rivals Telsta resulted in 120,000 people catching a glimpse of the match in whatever way they could. La Rock ("The Rock") is not pictured, but provides a beautiful view and is a symbol of San Lleran independence.

Great Leader Alejandro Llano - Doesn't actually do anything
Head Coach Marko Vujvic - After former head coach Jon Lleranerus sadly fell into a coma and died, his loyal assistant Marko Vujvic became the interim whilst San Llera looked for a replacement. That replacement ended up being Vujvic himself. Vujvic is not from San Llera, which garnered a lot of controversy when he was hired, but the people of San Llera have come to quite like the coach. He is outgoing yet calm and known for his tactical skill, making him the polar opposite of his predecessor.
Assistant Coach Pietro Madonna - No relation to singer, Madonna is very good at helping to develop young players. He is the only coach San Llera has who is adept at making players better.
Assistant Coach Pere Dissa - A very similar coach to the deceased Lleranerus, Dissa is passionate and very outspoken about his beliefs. Players coached by him tend to be very conditioned.

Cenial Liberty - Easily San Llera's most promising young goalkeeper, Thoda missed the Di Bradini Cup with an injury but is now healthy and better than ever. His insanely quick reflexes and success at Chell SC earned him a transfer to Ceni, where he will look to continue his success.
LB Jacque Olivier - 29 years old -

Llerana SC - San Llera's pool of left backs is remarkably shallow, and they will have to settle for Jacque Olivier to start this Cup of Harmony. It's Olivier's third appearance in this tournament, so he has plenty of experience, but he hasn't been particularly good. He is famous for being one of the most unspectacular players, and people in general, you will ever meet. Left back may be a weakness for the Swagfish this tournament.
CB Alexandre De Gonia - 29 years old -

Llerana SC - "The Soviet Swan" is the dirtiest player on the team, and will slide tackle anyone in sight. However, those who know him will tell you that he's a very kind, gentle, and romantic man. But if you see him on the pitch, you will start to doubt this.
CB Gerard Quella - 26 years old -

Scottopia City - Four World Cups ago, Quella was a shock selection who nobody had heard of. But solid World Cup play and his team's inclusion in the inaugural season of San League Soccer have made him an established player known for his clever passing. Now Quella has competed in three World Cups, and he has emerged as perhaps San Llera's best center back.

Granger Dragonites - Belles is a young speedster that loves to overlap with winger and put in crosses but often gets caught in possession. However, he recently has been better at getting back on defense and not acting his age. Impressive San League soccer performances lured him overseas to Granger Dragonites in the Northern Sunrise

LB Pau Milla - 31 years old -

Cremando Llera - Just a couple years ago, Milla was still playing street soccer in the tiny village he was brought up in. Since then, he has been discovered and given a spot on Cremando Llera, who he helped to a shocking 3rd place San League Soccer finish with his excellent awareness and flashy ball skills. Milla was called up for the last two World Cups but only has six career caps, and he will hope that he can get more if Olivier continues his mediocre performances.
CB Marc Abello - 33 years old -

Pantans - Once a prodigy, a horrific injury stopped his progress but he has worked his way back onto the national team. Then he came back and became one of the best defenders on the national team, with his great passing ability and acute awareness. Abello is thrust into a backup role this Cup not because of his decline but because of the emergence of other players at his position.
CB Robert Rivello - 22 years old -

Llara Llera - A Di Bradini Cup star, Rivello is now earning his first call-up to the national team. He is a very feisty defender, a bit dirty at times, but in a good way. Opposing strikers should fear him.
RB Amerigo - 21 years old -

AS Mantegapa - Another player from the fourth-place Di Bradini Cup team that earned a call up, Amerigo is seen as a somewhat experimental addition to the team, and he won't play too much barring an injury ahead of him. If he does play, Amerigo is an excellent crosser of the ball and a very hard-working player, but sometimes tries to run up and down the flank too much.
LW Martini Saragosa - 32 years old -

AS Mantegapa - Saragosa definitely breaks the mold for traditional wingers. While most at his position are fast and dynamic on the ball, Saragosa is slow and rarely dribbles very much. However, he is an incredibly good passer that manufactures many San Lleran attacks, and is the all-time assists leader for San Llera by a considerable margin.

Real Old Maiz - After breaking out as an 20-year-old in the 72nd World Cup, Bou is looking to play even better in this one. And his recent club play has indicated that he will be one of the best San Llera players in this World Cup, after starring in the San League and moving to Zenic with Real Old Maiz. Bou, while still a bit lanky, is well beyond his years in passing.
CM Hector Fonda - 27 years old -

Hasilpur Ox's - "The Sponge" is one of the most popular players on San Llera, and he backs that popularity up with his talent. Fonda is rough, tough, and a beast in the defensive midfield who is feared by attackers and makes the defenders' lives much easier. He has also recently developed very nice chemistry with Bou, his partner in central midfield.
RW Don Llorens (VC) - 33 years old -

Llerana SC - Llorens, still probably San Llera's best player, was widely criticized four years ago when he played horridly in the World Cup. But he rebounded, and showed his talent in World Cup 72. Now, Llorens is aging, but still might be the best player San Llera has to offer, with his wide array of skills in shooting, passing, dribbling, and pretty much anything imaginable.
LW Pelechamchas - 28 years old -

Chell SC - What Pelechamchas lacks in pure talent, he makes up for in pure speed. The 6'4" winger isn't the greatest natural soccer player in Rushmore or the world, but he is a beast in the air with his height and nearly impossible to keep up with for defenders. He is admittedly not great defensively, but the offensive threat he offers with his speed and excellent ability to whip in crosses, never mind use his six feet and four inches to latch on to crosses, earns him a place on the team.
CM Oscar Cardona - 24 years old -

Patria Poble - he star on San Llera's first Di Bradini Cup, Cardona has all the tools to be a great center-mid, with good vision, silky passing, and flashy dribbling. He is also, reportedly, a great locker room presence, unlike the player that he replaces in this roster.
CM Teodor Alemany - 23 years old -

Klyde - With Cardona, Marko Vujvic also put his U-21 partner in the midfield, Teodor Alemany. Alemany is a defensive midfielder of the San Lleran mold, being rough and not afraid of anybody. He is currently plying in trade in Cosumar with Klyde.
RW Guifre Gil - 31 years old -

Chell SC - Gil is an incredible dribbler and favorite of the fans, but stuck behind Don Llorens on the depth chart. He is also coming off of a bad injury, and needs to be eased back into form. And unfortunately for the eccentric winger, there won't be much time for him on the field to get back into form.
ST Carles Mestre - 27 years old -

Familia Llano - Mestre, at his best, is clearly the starting striker for San Llera and perhaps the best player on the team. However, Mestre at his worst doesn't deserve to be in consideration for the roster. Marko Vujvic will certainly hope he gets the good side of the 5'1" striker this Cup of Harmony.
ST Jan Capo - 26 years old -

Chell SC - Jan is talented but has attitude problems. At the age of 20, Capo was caught on camera killing a man outside of a nightclub, and he was promptly convicted of murder. Then, in a strange turn of events, he was pardoned by Great Leader Alejandro Llano. Capo is now a free man, but seems to be on a course back to jail based on his track record of fights and off-field incidents.
ST Bellemurillo - 22 years old - Unattached - Bellemurillo, currently a free agent, was the leading goalscorer in San Llera's last Di Bradini Cup, which earned him a call-up to the national team. He is incredibly speedy and smart with his speed (in terms of making clever runs) but not a fantastic finisher.
ST Oscar Potus - 28 years old -

1093 Club de Atlantea - "The President" was a breakout star in San League soccer with Llara Llera. Like Bellemurillo, he is especially good at making clever runs behind defenders, but is a better finisher.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the first time that Copper Cuprum will be participating in the Cup of Harmony. Copper Cuprum had been long isolated from the international community since it is a small island archipelago located deep in the middle of the Lazarus Ocean, far from any regular shipping lanes since man first sailed ships. The nation was only discovered by the Fleftic Navy in 1914, when they were searching for the daughter of President Rufus Wole Mensah, whose ship was wrecked in the general vicinity of the islands. Arriving in the capital of the islands, they discovered that Chief Zed had made the President's daughter his queen, generating a sudden alliance between the two countries. And Copper Cuprum was also rich in copper, so that was a good thing for Abanhfleft too...

Quite short for a keeper, but he does the job well enough to be the starting keeper for Athletic Wa Gon, the marquee team of the Copper Cuprum National League. But this doesn't mean much as the National League is considered as the least competitive of the leagues in the countries within Abanhfleft's sphere of influence.

RB: Tumoka Batuba 23 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End

Solid right back, but still quite raw for his age. Sometimes advances a little too far into the offense to the other backs' liking. Thinks of himself as a wingback, but simply doesn't have the speed or the feet to get quickly between offense and defense and can't make a cross to save his life. Still gets lucky sometimes, though.

RCB: Setobi Bonoyok 30 y/o, Vorpommern Nyqvist

Experienced center back but definitely lacks pace. Big man with a big leap that makes him more of an aerial threat than he should probably be. Unfortunately he's built like a tank and maneuvers like one, making it easy for a somewhat skilled player to get around him. (Think Per Mertesacker as a close equivalent in RL.)

LCB: Derek Chidagi 24 y/o, Miroz Old Boys

An immigrant to Abanhfleft that decided to play for his motherland after all. He's probably the only really good defender in this lot, and therefore bears the brunt of the defensive work for the team. He still has his problems, though, meaning that he will think nothing of tripping up any opposing players that are goalbound. Will probably concede a lot of penalties.

LB: Esteke Inanuk 28 y/o, Athletic Dorfdifving

Not really the best defender in Copper Cuprum, but certainly not the worst one either. Truth be told, though, he only looks good because many of his other teammates are shit. Placed in a world-class back line, he'd be the first player that disappears from notice. But when he performs well, he performs well and in a sublime manner.

RM: Boyote Toroto 25 y/o, Sporting Busov

Holds the midfield good enough, but still makes mistakes from time to time. Attacks from time to time but really hinders more than helps.

CM: Sutalen Desoka 32 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer

The most experienced player in the lineup aside from Bonoyok, Desoka is the proper holding midifielder that serves as the link between the defense and the offense. And that's about all there is to know about him. Signed for All-Inclusive Haranguer after a good Baptism of Fire campaign.

LM: Morefor Tofodo 27 y/o, Santos FC

Doesn't show up in big games, yet doesn't show up in minor games also. Surprising why he got included in the starting eleven at all. The fact that he's part of Prince Deg's retinue may have something to do with it, though.

RW: Opatop Lazarovski 24 y/o, Sheriff Tiraspol

Half Pridnestrovian and half Copperite, he almost played for his father's country before Prince Deg conferred upon him a peerage that convinced him to play for Copper Cuprum. He is a half-decent winger that nevertheless will not be able to get into the starting eleven of any other nation in the world.

CF: Prince Deg 26 y/o, unattached, captain
The Crown Prince of Copper Cuprum and heir apparent of Chief Gon. Prince Deg is also the head of the Copperite Football Federation, a position that he created by royal decree after creating the federation, also by royal decree. He bills himself as "the best center forward in the multiverse," but so far he hasn't done anything to back up that claim. At the moment, even Abanhfleft's Kareem Dagen plays better than Prince Deg.

LW: Tyrone Zudazet 27 y/o, Gyouza Young Lads

Another member of Prince Deg's retinue that nevertheless deserves his place in the starting eleven. A landed noble with a barony under his fief, Zudazet is half-Fleftic and plays for a club in the Democratic Republic while at the same time flying the Copperite flag proudly.

This kid has a future in midfield, what with his flashy playmaking style. He's only in defense because he's been put there by the Fleftics at Duhblakk.

Some of the players in the reserves are only there because there is a need by the World Cup Committee to have enough substitutes in every position. Sobodo is filling in for one of those emergency positions.

Well, that was terrible. In Sasha Bale's nineteenth match in charge of the national team, she lost for the first time. Evidently, she developed a taste for it, as what had been a run of thirteen straight wins (nine in qualifying) turned into two draws, three defeats, one goal scored and six conceded. And, as a result, what had been a three-point lead at the top of the qualifying group became crashing out of the playoffs to unfancied Abanhfleft.

It's fair to say that the Patriots are in crisis, and it's the first major setback of Bale's short but remarkably successful reign. The Cup of Harmony represents a chance to recuperate, regroup and maybe even get another piece of silverware for their trophy-starved country. They might just be able to take a silver lining from a truly spectacular choke.

First Team and Tactics

For all the good that a switch of formation to 4-2-3-1 did, it was a damage limitation strategy for a team that lacked a decisive defensive midfielder and had to be cautious. Now, in light of Lilith Paterson's emergence and a weaker field in Qualifying, a more traditional 4-3-3 is expected to see the light. Bale's side plays lightning-quick, cavalier football, constantly attacking at pace. It's an exceptionally quick but not especially technical side, and maximising opportunities ensures that a few will land in the net. 4-2-3-1 remains a more defensive option when Bale feels the need to put the stranglehold on the game.

National information.

Located within the West Pacific, Port Christopher is an unincorporated state of the Free Colony of Schottia. The nation is home to just over 1,000,000 people, the vast majority living in the City of Port Christopher. The small country is home to a diverse population of various ethnicities and backgrounds. Port Christopher has an extremely high population density especially around the coastal areas.

The colony was established as a trading post in 1879, when the then, United States of New Scotland, were looking for a way into the West Pacific market. The wealthy polyarchy of merchants swamped to Port Christopher in a bid to take advantage of this situation.

At the time the USNS government came under heavy criticism for their treatment of the native population. Many of whom it is believed had their homes destroyed and were either sold into slavery or died from disease and hunger as their fields were dug up for cash crops. General Lewis Home-Christopher, whom the colony is named after, is still a controversial figure in Schottia today for the methods he used in securing the area.

The Port Christopher merchants quickly became some of the richest in what were the beginnings of a New Scottish Empire, taking over from where the previous administrations had left off. The new colony flourished along with the USNS at this time and was another hub to new enlightenment and developments in science, education, literature and philosophy. The City of Port Christopher became the Empire's second city and one of the richest Tyranan ports.

Squad information.

Port Christopher's debut cycle will have to go down as a resounding success. The tiny state finished third in the Baptism of Fire, and reached the quarterfinals of the Runner Cup. They have pushed on again this year, fuelled by the continued improvements within their own small domestic league, and the quality of their young players coming through.

Jimmy Mitchel's side don't have the deepest pool of players, as one might expect, being a colony of just slightly more than one million people. However, should they manage to get through the qualifiers injury free, they should do well enough by their standards. Elisa Rivera, who as since gone on to join Marinos Thimpodopoulos Ladies was a key player for them in for her country in the Runner Cup, and is expected to sine once more with her vision and creativity. The Sea lions are also strong in attack, with highly rated Tony Uist and the experienced Franz Müller leading the line. On the bench they can also look to league winner Ross Jameson, and highly rated youngster Jacques to make an impact.

This is Port Christopher's first invitation to the Cup of Harmony following their arrival on the international football scene two cycles back. Despite some very good results, including a 3-3 draw with Legelase, they were unable to make much headway in their qualifying group, thus falling at the first hurdle. They will undoubtedly be one of the lowest ranked sides to play in this years tournament, but if they are able to find some form, they might spring a surprise somewhere along the way.

One of New Dundee Star's Wessel twins, he and his brother Moritz are a mainstay of their club. The sons of Schottic North Island migrants, they have lived and played in Port Christopher all their careers. Robert Wessel is a big goal threat coming forward for set-pieces.

A complete midfielder, Neil is one of the more exciting prospects in this Port Christopher squad. She impressed fans by turning down an offer to play for the Schottia U-21 ones just before DBC 32, opting to stick it out when rumours of a Christopheran national team were in the air. Her and Blue Coast teammate Tony Uist, are two of the most exciting players in this squad.

LM: Tim Maitfield, 24 Celtic Noviodunum

Height: 179cm Weight: 77kg
Maitfield is your typical right footed, left sided midfielder. He is most effective with his head down running at the defenders with pace. He scores regularly for his club, cutting in of the left and unleashing some ferocious strikes.

RM: Moritz Wessel, 27 New Dundee Star

Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg
The other half of the Wessel twins, Moritz is very different form his brother. Tall and lanky he lacks his Brother's power, but he is a potent player in his own right. Capable of playing anywhere across the midfield his best position is just behind the strikers.

A cultured striker who has been at the sharp end of football in Port Christopher for a decade, since joining from Schottic side FC Soessch. He is a player who combines traditional number 9 qualities with a broader skill-set.

The league's top goal-scorer, who simply could not be ignored in this first squad selection. Uist is a third generation Christopheran, a local lad and immensely popular in his country. Since making the switch from Tralend to Sarrburgh, the midfielder has proven himself at a higher level, and is very much deserved of this call up. He is a great passer of the ball and always among the goals, over the course of the qualifiers he will surely be called upon.

One of the more surprising names in the squad, but he has had a great season with his club the Kelsy Merchants. The central midfielder is a tall and athletic player, who is not afraid to shoot from distance.

Despite being capped for Schottia at U-21 level sixteen years ago, no one has been more instrumental in setting up the Port Christopher national team than Big Jim Reid. A powerful, no nonsense striker, he has been given the honorary title of squad captain.

Jameson is heading of to join New Dundee at the end of the tournament. The 23-year-old got everyone talking with his goals for Kirston Eagles, helping the semi-pro side to a respectable league finish.

SZAVODA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

Szavoda has come a long way from it's humble, alcohol-hazed beginnings. It is now backed by a shifty, multi-billion dollar company, eager to pump the sport full of cash. At the helm is a Euran ex-National team coach, whilst the co-founder, Dazdan Iubirdic, begrudgingly takes his place beside him as his deputy. Somewhere in the backroom is Moli Dolanovic, although her exact role is unknown. In the intervening months between the last Cup of Harmony, SzaTec have set up the Szavda Pro League, with 8 franchise sides with no history or connection - don't let the faux-communist names fool you. The Szavda team has progressed rather unexpectedly to 58th in the world, with an impressive Quarter Final showing at the most recent Cup of Harmony and a Round of 16 finish in the Copa Rushmori. They were within a hair's breadth of qualifying for the World Cup Play-offs, losing out by a single point to Polkopia, but will take solace in another Cup of Harmony Appearance.

Management:

Head Coach: Louis Watson

- Age: 56
The former Euran coaching staff-member and one-timed manager of the national comes into the vacant national team job under rather acrimonious circumstances (see the RP thread), as the backing body, SzaTec International, strong-armed the previous 'administration' into hiring him over their preferred candidate, Danielle Granger of Brenecia. Watson is a noted disciplinarian and man-manager, which could cause some grating in a dressing room of almost exclusively amateur, lazy student footballers, although the arrival of the Szavda Pro League has done something to increase footballing professionalism in the country.

Assistant Coach: Dazdan Iubirdic - Age: 46
The originator of the idea of football in Szavoda, Dazdan's life was at a low point when his wife left him, took most of his money, his child and all his skiing equipment. He'd just returned from a work posting in the icy wastelands of Svengarda and took up his dream with the mysterious Moli. Considers himself a tactical genius. Driven, passionate and perhaps going the way of crazy, Dazdan will do anything to see his dream succeed. He was offered the managership of the new Pro League franchise Vfana RKK, which he accepted, but remains as active as ever in the national set-up.

Physio: Dr. Janu Mazic - Age: 59
Hired specially to provide medical assistance and advice by the SFA a week before the BoF. An expert in muscle injuries, and a fan of money.

Defence Coach: Tristan Kuyter [NEPHARA] - Age: 44
Hired as a foreign expert to help coach the abysmally bad defence. A pretty thankless task, as the defence is more porous than a pile of sponges, but they're slowly working their way up. Doesn't quite get Moli, but hey, no one does. Credited with a significant improvement in the quality of the Szavda defence. Disappointed that Granger was not appointed to the manager's role, but satisfied enough with the suitcases of cash.

Goalkeepers:

Nemanja Petrovic - Age: 22 - Team: Willow Street Pirates [SCHOTTIA]
A tall, sturdy keeper with a background in handball, which gives him sharp reflexes and an eye for the ball, and one of the few players on the side who cares for football, even foregoing a handball scholarship to a different University to remain in Nevograd to play football. Prefers the 'sweeper keeper' role, although he is prone to errors when outside the box. Superb in the Baptism of Fire, keeping three clean sheets and establishing himself as the Number 1. Had to pick the ball out of the net a fair few times in the World Cup, but developed well. He was the 3rd Szavda player to earn a professional contract overseas, playing for the Willow Street Pirates in Schottia. During his spare time there, he and his girlfriend have opened up a Szavda deli.

Stjepan Lukic - Age: 19 - Team: Union Kadlec
Diminutive in stature, at only 5ft 7", and bouncing full of energy. No particular sports background, just likes to get out in the fresh air and throw himself around in the mud. Prone to making rash decisions and doing perhaps unnecessary things which risk goals, much to the displeasure of his defence. Always a talkative presence behind the defensive line, even if it isn't always about football. No relation to Tim in the defence.

Defenders:

Slavko Stefanovic - Age: 22 - Team: Vfana RKK
An apprentice plumber from Vfana, Slavko operates as a traditional full-back, prowling up and down either the left or right flank, although for the purposes of the Baptism of Fire he will play on the right. He has good pace and sharp footwork, capable of delivering swinging crosses and corners.

Radmilo Novak - Age: 19 - Team: Union Kreceva
Good at both ends of the pitch, strong and physical in defence - which can often lead to penalties against his name -, with a smart head on his shoulders, and a real threat from set pieces down the other end. He'll always be up in the opposition box for free kicks and corners, capable of good headers. Also possesses and handy turn of pace and tackling skills to match attacking threats.

Tim Lukic - Age: 22 - Team: Kreceva SK19
A grizzled (if you can be grizzled at 22 years of age) centre back who takes no nonsense. Strong and powerful with the jump of a salmon, Tim is a big threat during attacking corners, but loves nothing more than to put an opposition striker on his backside. Expect plenty of colourful cards and colourful language. Over the course of three World Cups, Lukic has become a real leader, acting as vice-captain. He has a ferocious, never-say-die attitude which has made him a favourite with what little fans exist and foreigners who encounter him. Plays his football around his National Service placement.

Vedran Milosevic - Age: 19 - Team: Dinamo Kreceva
A lively wing-back in the traditional mould, who can play on both flanks and switch the play very easily. Two footed and capable of sensational strikes from outside the area, Vedran is one of the teams most exciting talents, someone who, along with Branimir Milic, could actually make a career out of playing football. Grew up in a privileged household in Vfana, and was able to watch Euran football live on television, which attributes to his skill and flare.

Kuzman Jovanovic - Age: 25 -Team: Vfana RKK
Despite being a debutant in the squad, he is automatically one of the oldest players to have ever played for Szavoda. Jovanovic, a trainee lawyer, entered Szavda football through a series of public trials which were held after the most recent Cup of Harmony. He impressed the coaching staff and was signed up to the one of the franchises in the Pro League and put on a training regime. As a defender, Jovanovic brings his skills from playing full back in rugby to act as a vigilant sweeper, with decent speed and tackling ability. Boundless energy makes him a constant presence at the back.

Vlastimir Markovic - Age: 18 - Team: FK01 Nevograd
A centre back who can also play on the left or the right, or in midfield, Markovic plays with high levels of energy and has good dribbling skills, which means he often likes to play the ball out of defence as opposed to hoofing the ball up the pitch, which is the traditional tactic of the team.

Nenad Nikolic - Age: 23 - Team: WFKV
A natural leader at the back, with a good brain on his shoulders. He is good at reading match situations, and often has to lead the defence in set pieces and the like. Reluctant to get off his feet, Nenad relies more on non-contact methods to win the ball off of opponents and keep it from them.

Midfielders

Branimir Milic - Age: 23 - Team: Ulsa

The only actually decent player in the squad, and the captain of the squad. Blessed with immense speed and wonderful close ball control, Branimir loves nothing more than to pick up the ball in the midfield and drive into the opposition penalty area. Long range shooting and vision are two more important arrows in his quiver, but he does not shirk on his defensive responsibilities, despite being a rather diminutive 5ft 7", and comes back for corners and to defend free-kicks. Milic is the beating heart of the otherwise static Szavoda team - always moving and running, trying to find space for himself and for others, whilst both on and off the ball. Following the Baptism of Fire, he was picked up by Euran Third Division club Moors. Showing more and more that he is a top-quality operator, but has problems executing his skills without able support from his less talented team-mates. Before WC73, he was signed by Euran Gold League club Ulsa, somewhat of a coup considering his background, and will look to make waves on the biggest stage in Eura.

Pero Milovanovic - Age: 19 - Team: Severazlos Company
A static distributor of the ball, Milovanovic sits in front of the back four and passes the ball out from about a 10 yard box in which he operates. Defensively astute, standing at 6ft 4", he plays often as a fifth defender by slotting in between the two central defenders. A decent attacking threat from set-pieces, too.

Srecko Brekovic - Age: 22 - Team: WFKV
A central midfield play-maker previously unseen in Szavda colours. At 6ft 3", he is a formidable presence in the middle of the park, and has exceptional passing ability, both on the ground and over the top. He leads the counter-attacks with a notable turn of pace and good footwork, and as a result, he likes to get forward and create goals. He is being touted as the next Milic, despite only there being a year between the two, and he reflects the captain in many ways with his movement and creativity on the ball.

Nemanja Radic - Age: 20 - Team: Kreceva SK19
An apprentice electrician, although how much work or training he is doing is questionable. Another in the mould of the young, energetic player who doesn't have much of a clue of the technical side of the game. Plays a central midfielder, but tends to rove all over the pitch, mostly following the ball with hot-headed enthusiasm. Possesses decent pace as well.

Isijia Jovanovic - Age: 22 - Team: Vfana RKK
Varies between magic and ordinary, often serving up healthy portions of both during the span of a 90 minute game. He can get the ball at his feet and within seconds be running rings around opposition defenders, but then only minutes later he can slice a simple pass into no-man's land for an opposition player to run onto and score.

Domenic Marsejevic - Age: 23 - Team: Severazlos Company
Your no-nonsense, hard-hitting central midfielder who lacks the glamour and guile of players like Milic and Jovanovic, but has a canny knowledge of the game and can get himself in good positions both in attack and defence. Chips in with the odd assist and goal as well, which comes in handy. He has become a real midfield leader, although he has been hampered by injury in recent months.

Stefan Petrovic - Age: 21 - Team: FK01 Nevograd
Young and full of energy, he always wants to be on the ball and to unfurl his various tricks which he has learned off of Branimir Milic. Sometimes they come off, which looks nice, but most of the time he's left chasing after an opposition defender who's stolen the ball off of him, which has made him quite fast and strong.

Ljuban Zoric - Age: 25 - Team: Dinamo Kreceva
Lived overseas for the majority of his life, he experienced football first hand, even playing youth grade football until he upped sticks and returned to the Glorious Motherland. He is a rare breed of midfielder who strives to get forward and score goals, and specialises in the spectacular. His powering runs and cannon-like shooting are something to be watched out for.

Javor Ilic - Age: 19 - Team: Union Kadlec
A sprightly attacking midfielder with quick feet and and good eye for goal. Operates well behind the two front men as a good distributor of the ball, known for his cutting through balls which split the defence and allow Nikazic and co. to nip in behind. Takes free-kicks from around the box and corners on the left hand side. Second penalty taker after Milic.

Strikers

Mijo Nikazic - Age: 21 - Team: Union Kadlec
The pinpoint of Szavoda's counter-attacking philosophy, Nikazic is small and very, very fast. He can go from a standing start to full pace in a matter of seconds, which makes him absolutely lethal on the break. His size allows him to squeeze past defenders in the box and he has shot placement to match any international striker. A real talent in a side that lacks, well, talent.

Zar Mihailovic - Age: 26 - Team: Arsenal de Releinthi [ABANHFLEFT]
The living epitome of the word 'target-man' - he's big, strong and knows where the goal is. Outside the penalty area, he's about as effective as a chocolate tea-pot, but inside, he only needs a yard to beat the keeper. He acts as a good foil against the small Nikazic, and together two the make a decent strike partnership. Second Szavda player to player overseas, and has become better for it.

Graeme Stefanovic - Age: 32 - Team: Union Kreceva
His first name might give you an indication as to his roots. Graeme was born to a Szavda father and a Euran mother, and was raised in Bastion. He dabbled in semi-pro football in Eura, but stopped after he was hired by a mining company for a number of years in Szavoda, where he lived in Kreceva. He played recreationally amongst the Euran expat community, and entered the system during the public trials. He is a smart and able striker, able to extract space in the box and draw out defenders. His dream came true when at the Bastion Arena, he came on as a substitute and scored in front of the Euran fans for Szavoda.

Home Stadia: SzaTec Park, Vfana (21,000)
The World Cup Committee won't permit qualifiers to be played on what is effectively a field with some paint on it, so Szavoda have had to play their official home games at the rather soulless SzaTec park in Vfana Docks. It is originally a Rugby stadium, but several unmarked brown envelopes at the offices of the presiding club ensured that the ground will be free for all of Szavoda's home qualifiers.

Lot 37 (Official Capacity: 0)
Situated in a run-down industrial park on the outskirts of Vfana in southern Szavoda, Lot 37 is just a patch of scrubland with grass laid down in patches and white lines hastily painted on. There are no seats, so opposition fans, should they come, are advised to bring their own seating. A retractable stand seating 400 was ordered from Eura, but it never turned up. Whilst it is the spiritual home of Szavda football NO GAMES WILL BE PLAYED HERE.

After guiding Volcano FK to the title two seasons ago, amongst other good performances in his three-year tenure, the PFA decided to appoint Zhamaletdinov to the position of manager but have still kept interim manager Otto Omirov on as a first team coach. The duo were midfield partners in Volcano back in the day, and Zhamaletdinov has decided to appoint some of his former teammates to the coaching staff., with recently retired Frans Martinsson being one of the new coaches despite them never playing together. After retiring from playing aged 37, Zhamaletdinov was a first team coach and U21 manager simultaneously for two years before being promoted to assistant for one year. At the close of that season, then-manager Darijo Simak decieded to leave and Zhamaletdinov was appointed manager, where he guided them to one title and two cups, which is adequate enough for PFA President Mikhaelo Vrjak.

Assistant manager: Maries van Romker, 55
Zhamaletdinov’s assistant at Volcano, previously the manager of Dutch Semarland’s national team. Half Dutch Semar himself, when the gritty centre-back retired from playing aged 34, he moved back to Dutch Semarland where he managed Inter Zotanekko and FK Kemsterdam before the national team, but returned to Polaaskan when he was sacked from his national team job. Widely expected to the be the defensive coach by some, Zhamaletdinov decided to keep him as his assistant. Rather loud like his colleague, van Romker is someone on the touchline you shouldn’t mess with.
