Although it might be nowhere near the city of Samford, Cyclone Alexina had a part to play in Karl Marx Uni's victory over Chattahoochee State University at Hedley Tannock Field last night. Three touchdowns were scored during the match, but neither team were able to add the extra point, despite three PAT goal attempts. This is where Alexina comes in. Strong winds from the storm front that Alexina is riding blasted Samford last night, making it almost impossible to kick the distance. No team was able to capitalise on the tailwind in the other direction - all touchdowns were scored against the breeze.

The first came in the 1st quarter after an excellent piece of offensive work from Simon Korb, who opened up a route for Roger Taylor to charge through for a 22-yard rush into the end zone. The Reds scored again in the 2nd, after a fumble from CSU gave them the ball at the fifty yard line. With long passing against the wind proving impossible, KMU stuck mostly to rushes as they drove up the field. A short pass to receiver Marcus Schwedler proved fruitful after he ran to within ten of the goal. A few rushes put KMU within inches on fourth down, and Coach Mori called a time-out and decided not to take the field goal. Under the circumstances, we can hardly blame him. His decision was justified when quarterback Ryan Dunne carried it through himself, lending his weight to McCall's in the centre to bulldoze their way to the end zone.

Chattahoochee State halved the deficit in the third quarter with a 30-yard rush from their running back, raising more questions about the ability of first string safety Fred Vargas, who let that one past him. The standout for the defence was Jack Rafinha, who picked up 14 tackles and 2 sacks in the game. While the defensive line has not looked as strong as it has in the past, they did well to restrict CSU in some tough conditions, and they looked much bette than the squad that let 21 points past them in the previous game. The offence also did well, but will need to lift their game if they want to wipe off that 15 goal deficit in the goal differential column.

No Names Shut Out Palm View at Plumeria Garden
Story by Abraham Shepherd

Mosaic—The South Seas University Honu rebounded from their season opener loss against Ramusok Capital with an impressive 33-0 thumping of Palm View University. A sold out Plumeria Garden crowd watched as the Honu outpowered the Dolphins, in attempt to reassert themselves as a contender in the NSCF.

In a week of media circus following the Honu loss at Ramusok, a looming question for coach Goose Carneghy and his staff was how to address the apparent "me first and the gimme gimmes" attitude of his players. Carneghy had previously noted that with the perceived star power on the Honu team, it should be a near foregone conclusion that the team would compete at a high level. However, such high octane levels had gone unrealized as the team failed to compete as a whole unit.

Carneghy himself noted that things had to change, but at the press conference after the season opener, Carneghy was at a loss for ideas on how to increase team unity. While he joked that he might take the team to the ropes course within the Costa Alurian rain forest, it seemed clear that in fact there were no feasible plans in store. Since the Honu practices field had been closed to media activities leading up to the matchday two victory, it was anybody's guess how the efforts might play out in actual play.

The emerging storyline was the one that Honu fans inside the stadium noticed nearly immediately. In the NSCF world, the Honu found themselves on the cutting edge of football fashion in their first NSCF season with several jersey variations. The trend continued on Saturday, when another jersey iteration appeared in the Plumeria Garden.

The Honu clad in all blacks, the jersey quickly earned the moniker of the "Midnight" combination from television crews covering the game. Notable subtractions from the jerseys were the typical flashy color combinations that the university has previously used; instead each jersey received minimal accentation in the typical green, yellow, and gold.

However, it was one other missing piece that kept Plumeria Garden fans and television viewers on their heels throughout the game versus Palm View: the player's names had been removed from the jersey altogether, instead featuring only a player number on the back of the jersey. Carneghy commented on the switch after the game.

"It was a true shift we felt was important to building this team unity," Carneghy stated. "You know, it was really about the idea that all of the offseason hype was about the big name players on the Honu team. Everywhere in the media, it was about "look out for 'player x'" or '"player y' will be an impact player for a long time." But what we saw over and over that it wasn't translating to the team. So we really took a "move along, nothing to see here" approach, not only with the color scheme but also in removing much of individual player recognition from game. The only name that people need to read on our jerseys right now is 'Honu.'"

The question that Carneghy will need to answer is whether the jersey change meant the difference against Palm View University, and whether it is enough of a difference maker when the Honu travel to #6 Stoneshore College for matchday three. Carneghy notably mentioned that the jersey combination is just a start to other planned changes to team preparations. "We know it is just a beginning," Carneghy stated during the post-game press conference. "It is a long road we are on to change the team dynamics. I think the team really bought into what we did this week, but now the challenge is to keep that buy-in high. We've got some other things we are going to be working on."

Carneghy also noted that the way the team prepares has likewise taken a new approach. When asked about his preparations for Stoneshore, Carneghy stated simply, "I'm not worried about Stoneshore. They will do what they do. My focus is making our team function to its ability; if we take care of ourselves, the rest will fall into place."

The newly dubbed Honu no-names will have much to prove when they take the field in matchday three; defending NSCF champion Stoneshore College has made a name for themselves as one of the elite teams at this level. Will the Honu prove themselves as having a midnight party, or will they have the look of a team that stayed up past its bedtime?

World Famous Great Success Pawnshop
Releinthi, Abanhfleft

"Hello?" the female voice at the other end of the line that Alexandra had called up said. "Hello? Who's this? If you don't have anything to say then I'm hanging up."

And Alexandra surprised herself even further when she suddenly recognized the owner of the voice. "Yelena?" she asked.

"Who's this?" the woman asked again. "How do you know my name?"

"Yelena, it's Alexandra!" Alexandra said. "Remember me? We served together in Haritzaga and the Fhulghamous!"

There was silence from the other end for a few moments, and then Yelena Izambutova, the woman whom both Alexandra and Fructouso Arellano had apparently called, got back on and said, "Oh, Alexandra! I think I remember now! Listen, did you know that some guy called me from that number before? That's why I was so hostile earlier. Sorry about that, girl."

"Yeah, don't worry about it, Yelena," Alexandra replied. "I got my phone back now. It's my phone, you know? Well, actually it's more like I got my phone back from wherever he left it after he'd used it. Hey, what did he call you for, anyway? Unless you don't want to talk about it."

"No, no, it's all right," Yelena replied. "Are you in Releinthi tonight? I think I want to talk about this in person. D you know the Ebelgorze District?"

"Yeah," Alexandra said. "Isn't that the place where all the rich people in Releinthi live?"

"You got that right. Actually, I live in a house just three blocks away from that. It's at 7750 Cobalt Street. Did you get that?"

"7750 Cobalt Street," Alexandra repeated. "Yeah, I got it."

"I'll be waiting, Alex," Yelena said, and then she ended the call.

Alexandra lowered her cellphone from her ear and turned to face Destiny and Allison. "I think we just got yet another lead on Fruity," she told them.

"Wait a minute," Allison interrupted. "Are you telling me that Fruity called Yelena Izambutova before dumping your van?"

"Well, I don't know if he called her just now or a few hours ago, but he definitely called her," Alexandra replied. "And whatever Fruity told her must have spooked her or creeped her out because she wants me to go over to her house."

"Or maybe Fruity's there right now, and he's holding her hostage, and he'll kill her unless we stop chasing him," Destiny said.

"There is that," Alexandra said. "But then again you've got a very active imagination, Destiny."

"You don't know, Alex," Destiny retorted. "Maybe I'm right."

"And maybe you're wrong," Allison said. "And we won't find out what's really going on until we go there. Did you say her place was on Cobalt Street?" When Alexandra nodded, she continued, "I think I know the place. I've been there before."

"You say you've been there before," Destiny said. "But what you actually mean is that you've passed by that street on your way to mingle with the people of Ebelgorze District."

"Shut up, Destiny," Allison scoffed.

"Girls, get in the Maserati, please?" Alexandra said. "I'll just park the van in front of Azamat's pawnshop and ask him if he can watch it for me as a favor."

"Don't take too long," Allison called out to Alexandra's retreating form.

Once Alexandra had gotten Azamat to watch over her minivan while they went off on Fruity's trail, she got into the Maserati with Allison and Destiny and drove off to Releinthi's Ebelgorze District, or at least a place near it. Allison directed Alexandra through the maze that was the streets of Releinthi, and then she finally led them to the right address, 7750 Cobalt Street. As Alexandra parked the Maserati in front of the house bearing the address that Yelena had mentioned, Destiny said, "D'you think that Fruity could be in there holding Yelena hostage?"

"I thought we'd already talked about this before," Allison said. "There's no way that Fruity could be holding her hostage. I mean, she told us her address in the clear! If you were being held hostage, wouldn't you try to not make it too obvious to your kidnapper that you were trying to tell the cops or whoever's there to help where you're being held."

"You seem to have a lot of knowledge about this particular part of kidnapping," Destiny quipped.

"No, I have not been kidnapped ever in my entire life," Allison replied a bit hotly. "And the time that you two kidnapped me doesn't count!"

"Let's just get this over with," Alexandra said as she got out of the Maserati. Destiny and Allison followed her out, with Allison being obviously quite reluctant to do so. Alexandra walked up to the door and rang the doorbell, and they waited for Yelena--at least they hoped that it would be Yelena who answered the door.

They need not have worried. Yelena Izambutova, a brown-skinned woman of twenty-four years, opened the door to her house. The last time that Alexandra had seen her, Yelena had had black hair, but now it was obvious that she had gone for a dye job in the years since, and now Yelena's hair was a burnt brick red. "Oh, Alex, thank God you're here!" she said as she came out and embraced Alexandra. And then she noticed the two other women standing behind Alexandra, and she added, "Oh, Destiny and Allison are here too."

"Yeah, we went on a road trip through Abanhfleft," Alexandra replied. "We met up one day, and it sort of just happened. Can we come in?"

"Of course, of course," Yelena said, standing aside so the three women could enter her house. It was just like any other house in Abanhfleft: two floors, with a wooden flight of stairs leading up to the upper floor. There was a small but comfortable living room on the ground floor with enough room for all four of them. The three girls sat down as Yelena offered them drinks.

"We're not here to stay, Yelena," Alexandra said. "We're here because we're trying to follow up on a friend of ours. Do you remember Fruity Arellano?"

"I think so," Yelena replied. "Wasn't he the short fat guy who was only in the Army because his family wanted him to?"

"One and the same," Alexandra said. "Well, I think that he was the guy who stole my phone and freaked you out when he called you."

"Listen, I think we should get one thing cleared up," Yelena said. "When that guy called me from your cellphone, he didn't really freak me out. It's just that the things he told me were very, very strange. Also, I shouldn't be telling you this, but I'm now an agent for the RBI."

"The RBI?" Destiny, Alexandra and Allison asked at the same time. "You mean the Republican Bureau of Investigation?" Alexandra added.

"One and the same," Yelena said. "I'm actually running a prostitution sting op right now in the Sharpton Hotel in the Aguavida District. And, this may come as a shock to you right now, but Fruity Arellano is now a wanted drug cartel leader."

"No way!" Destiny and Allison said with a hint of feigned disbelief. "Fruity Arellano? A drug dealer?" Destiny continued. "It doesn't fit him, does it, Yelena?"

"Exactly, which is how and why he's been managing to slip under our radar for quite a while now," Yelena replied. "But now I've got him picking up some of my girls in the Sharpton, and I'm about to request that the Bureau move in on him while he's busy, so to speak. Shit, girls, I really shouldn't be telling you this, but I've got a feeling that you three deserve to know the truth."

"No worries, Yelena," Alexandra said. "Wait a minute, though. So you're saying that Fruity's in the Sharpton Hotel right now?"

Yelena nodded her head. "Wait," she then said. "You're not planning on going after him, are you?" When the three girls didn't reply, Yelena continued, "For the love of God, girls, don't. Fruity Arellano is a dangerous man now. You wouldn't want to go after him unless you're an RBI agent with lots of backup."

"But he's in the Sharpton, right?"

Yelena finally nodded her head in resignation. "Yes," she replied. "Alex, Allie, Destiny, before you go, promise me that you won't go after Fruity. He's the RBI's responsibility now."

Alexandra felt bad about lying to Yelena in her face. She wasn't really a close friend, but she was still a friend, but Guillermo Huesca's threats far outweighed that right now. "If it helps, Yelena, we won't go after Fruity," she said. "He's in the hands of you blues now."

"Thank you," Yelena said. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Hogan's talent a black and white issue as Utica make it two-for-two

Through their two opening games of their twelfth season of NSCF, Utica are yet to allow a touchdown, and sit atop the Woodlands conference with an away win over the reigning conference champions. The influences of new head coach Anthony Channa are clear as day, as the team's defensive efficiency is much improved from last season.

This has come at the cost of offensive point yield, but Channa disputes this. "A win is a win," he says. He's not wrong. Ten wins will see Utica reclaim the conference championship and go to the playoffs -- likely as one of the top seeds, depending on non-conference results -- regardless of how narrowly they get them.

Following his impressive display against St Croix, LeDallas de Jeruselem was under scrutiny as Utica lined up against Corksville. If he could run for almost a hundred yards against a team with the quality of the Bleu et Blanc, what could he do against a lesser program? About as much, it turns out. The freshman runningback totalled 105 yards from his 23 carries, but is yet to score a touchdown in The Pit. "Yeah, I was disappointed not to have a real chance to get into the endzone, but the coaching staff made the right calls. We won the game." de Jeruselem admitted post-game. "It will come, I'm sure. I just have to keep working at it." What is certain about the monster Quebecois, however, is that he has the required talent to succeed for Utica. "Anyone who says otherwise isn't reading the same script, frankly." Said Utica runningbacks coach, Ishmael Johnson. "The stats are there, it's in black and white. This kid is averaging a hundred yards a game as a freshman. That's talent."

Utica's lone touchdown came from a huge play in the fourth quarter -- "they were prepared for us," said Brendon Hogan, "had counters for a lot of what we tried to do" -- when De'roy Hardison collected a short pass and blazed almost eighty yards after the catch for an 85 yard touchdown. "He found space, so I hit him." Utica's starting quarterback, Brendon Hogan revealed. "If I'm honest, I didn't think he would get a touchdown from there. I saw a gap, but considering how well Corksville were defending, I never thought he'd pull it off. It was an amazing run."

De'roy Hardison himself admits he was surprised at how open the field was. "I figured I could beat the first man, probably the second, but then I'd have to go out of bounds." He explained. "I'd been having trouble getting the better of their free safety all game, he read my movements well whenever I got the ball."

Hardison finished the game with 138 yards -- a career best -- off just five receptions, and the 85 yard touchdown reception was a personal best for him. "That's my longest catch, and longest touchdown. I'm feeling pretty awesome right now." He laughed.

On the other side of the ball, Hilario Marquez repeatedly got the better of the Corksville offensive line, producing two sacks, and four quarterback hits. "Hilario was a big factor out there today. Femi eats up a bit of space, and Hilario makes the most of it with his first step. Gets there real quick." Utica defensive co-ordinator Lu'bo Rinaso'lu said. "I think that pressure was a big factor in keeping them off the board as long as we did."

Palæontological-Centered Research are next up for Utica, who are on the road again. The school, from Natanians and Nosts, are debutants in NSCF, but Channa is wary. "We took a rookie program perhaps a little lightly once... They made the championship game, if I remember right." When the reply -- "Didn't Utica win the championship that year?" -- came back, Channa laughed. "Yeah, but they still beat us in that first game. We don't want that next week. That's the pressing concern. The Championship is four months away, why worry about that now?"

South Seas University Honu
Football Program
Image
Letter of Recruitment for Laurent Delormier

From the desk of Samson Fisafua, Defensive Coordinator, South Seas University Football Program

Delivery to: Mr. Laurent Delormier
CC: Goose Carneghy

Mr. Delormier:

I would like to congratulate you on the important step in solidifying your education as you move toward graduation from secondary school. Education is such an important step to opening doors in your future, and I commend your commitment to excellence as you look to further your educational background.

I hope we can speak candidly regarding that subject of doors for a brief moment. Doorways have always intrigued me, personally. One can never quite know what is on the other side of the doorway until that moment when one chooses to embrace the unknown and step through it. Sure, we all enjoy being familiar with a certain scenario—perhaps our favorite park, or that bistro down the street that serves the best Porterhouse steak on the planet. But remember how you found that park? You went to it. Remember how before you chose that restaurant, you were uncertain whether you should try it or just settle for the same old #3 taco meal from Ring-a-Ling Taco Fling? (By the way, good choice on going for the steak. That #3 is the gift that keeps on giving...)

Yeah, it is nice to step through a new doorway and see what it might offer. It helps us escape what we in the South Seas Islands like to call the "tyranny of the familiar." And that, Mr. Delormier, is what brings us together today.

You see, the South Seas Islands are a place of the unfamiliar, where we do things a bit differently than everybody else. As the defensive coordinator for the South Seas University Honu, I have tried to infuse such a philosophy into my defensive schemes, disguising attacks and bringing in that element of the unknown. It is really a philosophy our entire team has utilized. Perhaps you have seen the unconventional strategies our head coach has used on offense.

We've heard you are a bit unfamiliar as well (in a good way, of course!). We have not missed your impressive measurables and fine football career in your home nation of Quebec. We have been keenly aware of your progressing football acumen. And we know we are competing against some very fine football institutions who may also be recruiting you.

It is true, of course, that the Quebecois colleges have a proven track record of not only taking some of the best athletes in the world, but also in refining their abilities to be even greater. And certainly, that win column speaks for itself and is hard to argue against.

This, of course, is where it gets interesting. The South Seas University football program has yet to become a perennial powerhouse in the NSCF, and we will be the first to admit we have a long way to go and a lot of things to shore up. And we think you are one of the key pieces to doing both. Simply put, we believe a man of your size and football prowess could be a long term anchor for our defensive line, muddying up the waters for opposing run games by overpowering offensive linemen and stymieing opposing passing attacks cold with your towering size.

Should you choose South Seas University, you will have access to a wonderful education in a number of fields, from liberal arts to hard sciences, and everything in between. And you will have access to one the most beautiful natural environments in all of NationStates. There is a reason Costa Aluria ranks within the top 1% of the top 1% in global tourist destinations. Let's be honest for a moment; when Captain Cook found a beautiful land, coupled with bountiful soil, and (let's face it) strikingly gorgeous people—well, it was no wonder that so many of his men did not wish to leave. Those who live Costa Aluria love Costa Aluria, and we are living a dream.

Please, allow me to be clear through my ramblings. South Seas University is interested in retrieving your commitment to attend at our university. We beleive you are a difference maker at your position, one who could help the Honu take a gargantuan leap in the NSCF. Should you commit, of course, there are things that all involved will need to do—it will be work. But like all things which require work, it will be an investment that pays dividends in the future. It will be an investment in your education, first and foremost. It will be an investment in the Costa Alurian football scene. It will be an investment at potential next levels as scouts see your ability to be a difference maker. It will be an investment in joining an unconventional team in an unconventional place. And, truth be told, it will likely be an investment in a regimented training plan which might include bulking up on muscle mass (our trainers believe you to be a bit undersized, ironically, for a man of your stature). But it will be an investment that pays dividends for all involved.

As you near the end of your secondary school progress, there are but a few doors ahead of you, and you must choose one. One leads to a familiar school in a familiar city in a familiar nation, playing familiar plays in a familiar style with other players who are all too familiar. And it leads to the #3 combo meal, the gift that keeps on giving. And one, one leads somewhere a bit different, and a bit exciting. Choose the steak.

We can't wait for you to walk through the door.

Respectfully,

OOC: Obviously anybody can go after any of these recruits

The All-Banija Sports Magazine
The only nationwide publication that is all sports, all the time!

Inside Look: Recruiting in Banija

Image
HB Justice Greenspan, wearing #5, running the football for River Rouge High School. He is our pick as Banija's top high school prospect.

HERZEGOVINA CITY- With Northern Moravica moving to 3-0 in Celestia Conference play, after a third straight shutout victory, this time 20-0 at home to Kanza University, the eyes of the college football world are turning to this upstart Northern Moravica team. Coming in as a newcomer to this league and this conference, the fact that they have gone 3 weeks without conceding a single point has allowed them to attract the attention of a lot of outsiders, and will inevitably set coaches into Banija on the recruiting path. Northern has proven that the talent is there in Banija, and because of that, we will preview the top 5 recruits in all of Banija.

HB Justice Greenspan, River Rouge High School in in River Rouge, Kaapstad, Banija

The #1 high school prospect in Banija, Justice Greenspan has the smallest chance of actually attending school in Banija. He is the only foreigner on this list, with he immigrating to Banija at the age of 7 with his family from neighboring Huda. He has made it known that he wants to attend school abroad, and Northern Moravica is expected to chase after him, though many experts say that there is very little chance Northern will land Greenspan. He is looking at another NSCF schools, and this talented back should have some suitors. Greenspan runs a 4.38 40 yard dash, and though he is small at 5 ft 10 inches and weighing only 202 pounds, his agility and speed means that this guy would not only be a great special teams returner, but that he would be dangerous in space.

TE/WR Gregos Banis, Fenton High School in Fenton, Moravica, Banija.

Our #2 high school prospect in Banija is Gregos Banis. He is Banijan through and through, and the chances that he stays in Banija are about 50/50. He is said to be weighing the best offer that would give him the ability to play professionally, either at home or abroad, and Banis is going to grow to be a big receiver. He is currently 6 ft 5 inches and weighs 235 pounds, and his big frame will allow him to be a red zone threat. He has the size of a tight end, but he is a relatively weak blocker for a tight end, which is why sometimes his high school coaches will play him on the outside.

QB Dennis Zervos, Pazar Christian Academy in Pazar, Kaapstad, Banija. - Committed to the Loyola University @ Istria.

The first of two quarterbacks making our list is Dennis Zervos, of Pazar Christian Academy. He is a quarterback with a big arm that is fairly accurate, though as with many young quarterbacks, he is a very aggressive quarterback, and he is known as an avid risktaker. He is the only one of the top 5 recruits on this list who is committed, as he is going to Northern's archrival Loyola University. As discussions open at Loyola on how they are going to compete with Northern on the recruiting trail now that Northern is playing in the NSCF rather than at home, this lifelong Loyola fan, the son of two Loyola alumni and the nephew of Loyola great Patrick Zervos, he will be one of the main reasons that Loyola can still keep up with Northern.

QB Bastiaan Rodo, Aaron W. Bell High School, Kurgan, Moravica, Banija.

This quarterback is definitely the most likely of the top 5 recruits to go to Northern Moravica. Bastiaan Rodo is similar to Dennis Zervos, and they have competed side by side at camps across the country during the offseason. He has the regional high school record for most touchdown passes in a game with 6 touchdowns in the Division II championship game last season, and he is coming back for his senior year more ready than ever. He is ranked under Zervos due to his accuracy, which is not as good as Dennis Zervos' accuracy. He is a top target of Head Coach Horace Browning, though he might go somewhere where he has a better chance of playing right away.

MLB Phaedon Glaros, Aaron W. Bell High School, Kurgan, Moravica, Banija.

Bastiaan Rodo's teammate at Middle Linebacker Phaedon Glaros is our #5 recruit in all of Banija. He is known as the a 'student of the game', as he matches his athletic skill with a 3.8 GPA and is usually the smartest person on the field. He can learn new schemes quickly and adapt, and he was the first linebacker ever to led Moravica in interceptions, with 8 in his junior season. He is a sideline to sideline player all over the field, and while he is a target of Northern Moravica, people say that he is keeping his options open and ready & willing to play abroad if it gives him a chance to start right away.

Review of Northern's Scheduling: What Happened?

When you take a look at Northern Moravica's schedule, even though they started the season with 3 straight shutout victory, it is undisputed that the three teams they have beaten were the three worst teams on Northern's schedule. By luck of the draw, they started out with those 3 schools which has to help with confidence building, but they have to run the gauntlet at the end. Including the return games against those 3, 7 of the 10 schools that Northern has left to play, including the last 5 games, are against top 10 schools(as of Week 2).

Week 9 is at home vs. #5 University of St.Augustinus, followed by road games @ #1 Army Academy and defending champions #6 Stoneshore College, and then finishing the season at home to #9 Karl Marx University and senior night #4 Cenesis Naval Academy. That is 5 top 10 teams in a row to finish the season, as Northern will have to run the gauntlet to try and make the playoffs. The Athletic Director is correct is saying that you have to beat the best in order to be the best, but this schedule will wear out the team before the playoffs, if they can make it with that kind of schedule at the end of the season. We here, at the All-Banija Sports Magazine, are critical of the scheduling philosophy from Northern's Athletic Director.

It was well in morning when LJ Sumarah entered the parking lot. The Strathcona Memorial Stadium parking lot was seldom parked and he easily cruised around the basement floor, before picking the very spot he had found few weeks earlier. Slot 204- central, wide and smooth - was certainly an upgrade to what he's been used to.

His previous pre-game slots had included a sidewalk by the arena that he had to ditch due to police ticketing him every single opportunity; a Vietnamese restaurant 4 blocks away that later was vandalised by campers; a levee that had him scramble for few kilometres one rainy night when a minor rainstorm caused his Kiwa Rainier to be relocated few kilometres southwest; and the parking lot at an unfamiliar bar where his car, after a basketball game one day, was found burning on a voodoo priests' bonfire the very next morning.

The culprits were found and arrested for their crimes but it nonetheless gave him a good warning, the one typical of a Reluctantly he looked for any other spot, wondering for some time before finding a consolation in a place he normally would've avoided due to high prices: arena's parking lot. He wanted somewhere he could find a spot safe from all the dangers on the way and though the spot may not be the most optimal of all, he reluctantly settled for it after a while.

If I only could have my home over here, he thought as he looked into his car's window and picked up his season pass. Breaking up from Kylie has yet to really leave any specific gap on what's already a long-ignored chapter of his life. He remembered how they, as a couple, used to fight. The way she recorded everything, from the quantity of cannabis on her joint to her requirements over finances, had left him more or less frustrated and constantly rebellious.

He remembered how he, despite knowing what could happen without her, had gladly signed the divorce papers. Imprisonment of his Bohemian spirit had finally taken its toll, and he just wanted to get out of it. Since then he's been living a life he once had, but lost it due to marriage: Spending nights deviating strategies in bar with his fellow coaching staff, going for weeks-long travel for recruiting, and smoking cannabis all over his bed came back in vogue. Sure it may be little bit more chaotic than in past, but he seldom cared. He lived the life he wanted to live, and that's all it mattered to him.

(OOC: Of course, if you're interested in any of these guys, drop me a TG or whatever. It depends on whether they'll accept the offer or not though, so here's that. Part 2 and maybe 3 will be up hopefully soon).

QIS.com- Top Quebecois Recruits for the 2020 Class (2)

Hello, everybody. Let's what we have with some of our stellar high school footballers, without any specific standings, in what looks to be another of excellent recruiting class. This year, the talent's lot more spread across the company and with the size and physicality playing great emphasis, it reflects on how bigger they've gotten compared to the others. Enjoy!

6. TE Ike Willis :: 6'3, 215 lb
Heungnam High School :: Heungnam, Abitibi-Temiscamingue
Eldest of a family whose family's been longtime lumberjacks, Willis is a player whose dynamics make him an attractive player. He's not only big enough to give his team extra time, he also has a heavily-underrated blitzing and receiving skills that allow most to use him in various situations. He came close to setting a couple of district records, but a man game lost due to his grandmother's funeral has instead left the others wondering about 'What could've', as the Heroes were defeated in that first round playoff match to their rivals.

Willis is also a great leader whose ability to lead by example has been no less impressive, with unanimously positive comments about his leadership skills from his teammates. He's been recruited by many institutions, but has stated earlier that he'd rather stick in his home province of Abitibi, so a huge offer would need to be made to keep him outta that 650km radius.
Potential Destinations: Universite d'Abitibi, Abitibi Tech University, University of Ottawa, Farrer University, overseas NSCF institutions

7. WR Joseph van Kovergrade :: 6'0, 190 lb
Carlislehurst College :: New Carlisle, Gaspecie
Named to all-Gaspecie, all-District teams as a sophomore and junior. Set 4 all-time receiving records on his district and school. Led his team to 2 division titles and a trip to provincial finals. This was some of what the Gaspecian had achieved before his injury before the 2019 season. This made him miss all the regular season, and even though he managed to come back in time for the Caravelles, the stock fell quite a bit by the time he brought his team to provincial semifinals.

Though he's no longer considered the #1 prospect he once was a year earlier, van Kovergrade nonetheless is still the prospect and was heavily recruited after by universities. He's received 7 offers in key institutions, the same number Etienne (QHL player currently playing for Sherbrooke Phoenix) got few years earlier, but unlike his brother who went away to Montreal, has decided to stay close to home. He, also superstar singer-songwriter Jane Withers' cousin, will be entering the university as a science student, and will be looking to major in marine biology.
Offered by: Universite de Gaspe, Universite de Montreal, Mount Ester University, University of Halifax, University of Attawapiskat, Universite du Saguenay, Queen's University
Committed to: Universite de Gaspe

8. CB Francois Veronneau :: 6'4, 218 lb
Durant College :: Levis, Capitale-Nationale
A talented player whose jumping and blocking abilities also made him one of the top volleyball high school graduates of this graduating class, he could easily cover the zone and spike the football out of the way. His catching abilities also make him a legitimate interceptor, something that he's done 7 times in 9 regular season games with the Capital Region prep school's provincial championship squad. Should he improve on his speed, for his just above-average speed made him limited to his zones the past 3 seasons, he'd also be able to develop as a player who can stop the opponents' running game, a lot better, as well.
A studious lad, Veronneau is looking to major in political sciences with law school in mind, so a school with impressive humanities program will be where he's headed to.
Potential Destinations: Universite St.Croix, Universite du Saguenay, Mount Ester University, Ramusok Capital University

9. SS Anton Haas :: 6'3, 219 lb
Montclair Collegiate Institute :: Montreal, Montreal
Just one of the many that came out of Montclair's historic program, Haas might be one of their brightest when it comes to potential. Serving as the last line of defence for the Knights, he was close to undefeatable when it came to long pass coverage this season with 14 interceptions and 5 interceptions in 7 games he played as the legitimate starter. He needs to work on his speed, something that he's yet to do well when it comes to Running Backs, but with improvements in his training regimen and on-field psyche, he could be the kryptonite for opponent offence in college level as well.
Potential Destinations: Universite de Montreal, Universite de Moncton, University of Saskatchewan, Western University

10. QB George Rimpel :: 5'10, 185 lb
Frontenac Secondary School :: Cornwall, Frontenac
Brother of Gaels Defensive Tackle Guy Rimpel, George is a make-or-break Quarterback who has started the last two seasons with the Falcons. Was named the All-Frontenac and All-Cornwall all-star the both seasons he played, and led his Falcons to 2 consecutive OFSAA finals run and the OFSAA Championship last October (fall between NSCF 11 and 12), with 3,480 yards and 27 Touchdowns thrown in 13 games during his senior season. In terms of plahying style, Rimpel's a power QB whose arm's simply out of this world, but could improve in accuracy. His pocket presence and footwork, as well as mental fortitude, are nonetheless stellar so with some time he hopefully will prove every skeptic wrong. He, unlike his brother, is seriously considering overseas as his options and will decide when he wants. But if he's not, expect him to be lined up as a future QB after Brannagan graduates.
Potential Destinations: Queen's University, Overseas NSCF destinations

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT: A strict boy's boarding education for boys aged 11 to 24, providing them with a middle school, high school & college like no other in Esportiva. Located at three different campuses, each one with a different view; The Angelou campus is based around a strict physical education, turning them from cupcake-eating boys to steak-eating men. The Busko campus is based around a strict academic life; And the Trooper Bay campus is based around the ideals of the Swordean Army; Graduation from this college means an entrance into the Swordean army. At the moment, while the Angelou campus is being rebuilt, Busko is hosting sporting events, such as NSCF competition.

ENTRY: Entry is scholarship only. And by scholarship, we mean the exact opposite. We ain't for gifted kids; They go to smart schools based around algebra. Each student who tries for Conquerer's Academy has to go through a Physical test, an intelligence test, a behaviour test & an army skills test. Those who do well go into our sister school, the DeMarcus College, for intellectual kids. Those good athletic kids go into the Rosehumphens College. And the failures? They get into Conquerer's Academy. Lucky them.

Conquerer's Academy is for the weak & skinny; The dumb & brainless; The annoying idiots & the kids who would fail in the army. They get into Conquerer's Academy. We change them a lot.
You can enter for the school when your child is about to get into middle school (11 Years), the boy is about to step up a level (13 years), when they start to trouble you 85 times more (15 & 16 years) and when it is time for the college years (18 years).

As for which campus they go in, we decide that; Those who are terrible at being sporty the most go to Angelou; The dumb kids and the foolish idiots go into the Busko campus, while those who would be terrible in the army would go in the Trooper Bay campus. The Angelou & Busko campuses are for all years; a The Trooper Bay is only for those aged 16 and up.

Once you enter your child in at age 11, you'll only ever see them in the holidays; The 1 week break every 4 months your child gets. If they are sick, they are left to cure themselves or die; That is how they become men. If someone in your family has passed, they are not notified. If anything bad happens, they don't know. So just a note.

There are 1,124 kids in the Angelou campus; 978 in Busko, and 162 in Trooper Bay. As for sleeping, those aged 11, 12, 13 & 14 sleep in rooms of 4 with bunk beds, sleeping with kids of the same age; 15 & 16 year olds sleep in rooms of 2 with their own beds, while 17 & 18 year olds have their own tiny rooms. 19-24 year olds have their own rooms about 3/4 of the size of an apartment. So age really does matter for sleeping!

SPORT: Conquerer's Academy has a huge sporting pedigree, which is why every child in Conquerer's Academy participates in physical education. When a child turns 17, they are allowed to take part in all 20 of these sports;

* College Football
* College Basketball
* College Baseball
* College Ice Hockey
* College Soccer
* College Handball
* College Australian Rules
* College Swimming
* College Athletics
* College Gymnastics
* College Dancing
* College Horse Racing
* College Futsal
* College Lawn Bowls
* College Cricket
* College 10-Pin Bowling
* College Winter Sports
* College Tennis
* College Foosball
* College Table Hockey

All teams go by the name the Conquerer's Academy RedBlacks, and participate in both international competition and against fellow Swordean schools. This is exactly why Conquerer's Academy is the leading sporting school in The Sword Bloke, Esportiva & the world! Which is really why your 13-24 year old boy needs to go to Conquerer's Academy. There is no reason for your child not to go to our yearly scholarship exams! And remember, if you want a selfie with Shop Owner, send your son here.

Payday, Part Sixteen

The Sharpton Hotel
Releinthi, Abanhfleft

The Sharpton Hotel was a tall, white and green skyscraper that had been erected in Releinthi's Capistrano District on the site of the old courthouse that had unfortunately been destroyed during the Holy Catholic Revolution. The tower was quite brightly lit at night, and while it had caused some concern with the older members of the community that it could potentially keep people awake due to its brightness, no one had moved to dim the lights in the six years that it had been standing. In fact, there were some stories that said that on specific nights, one could see the lights of the Sharpton as far as Riuwiee, and that was just confined to the ground. Up in the air, the Sharpton was quite the beacon to guide night flights in the right direction to Releinthi's Matteo Rivadavia International Airport.

Tonight, three girls were looking up at the brightly lit tower beside a Maserati sports car. They had been staring up at the tower for some time now, starting from immediately after they had left a nondescript house somewhere in Releinthi from which the Sharpton could be easily seen. They had just told a friend that had become an RBI agent that they wouldn't go after a man whom they believed was currently staying at the hotel, but certain circumstances which included a call to the most wanted man in the entirety of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft had served to make them consider thinking about breaking their promise to their friend.

Alexandra had called Guillermo Huesca after they had gone out of Yelena Izambutova's house to tell him that they think that they had found Fruity Arellano in the Sharpton. They had thought that that was going to be the end of their brief association with the most wanted man in Abanhfleft. That assumption would turn out to be wrong.

"Don't just wait for me to get there, get Fruity!" Huesca had commanded her through the phone. "You do remember that I'm still in Trendstart fixing up my place, yeah? So go grab Fruity and keep him for me until I get there in Releinthi! You do that, this will all be over quickly. But if you don't have him..." He let the threat hang in the air as he hung up the phone.

Now the three girls were truly stuck with no choice but to follow Fruity to the Sharpton--if indeed he was there--kidnap him and hold him until Guillermo Huesca arrived in Releinthi. It was quite the tall task, and that was still just in the planning stages.

"So how in the world are we gonna do this again?" Allison asked for what was probably the fifth time that night. "And what proof do we have that Fruity is indeed in the Sharpton's penthouse, aside from those calls that he made to Yelena?"

"To tell you the truth, Allie, we don't have anything that says that Fruity's in there," Alexandra replied. "But we've got nothing that says he ain't there either. And since there's only one of knowing for sure, we've gotta go in there and make sure. I'll take Destiny up to the penthouse. You, Allie, stay with the Maserati. We've already stolen Huesca's cash. Who knows what he'll do to us if someone steals his car too."

"So how were you thinking of getting into the Sharpton's penthouse suite?" Destiny asked as she and Alexandra walked towards the hotel in question. "We're not exactly employees of the Sharpton Group of Companies, you know."

"Don't worry, girl," Alexandra replied. "I've got a plan."

"This does not look like a good plan!" Destiny shouted to Alexandra a few minutes later. The reason why she was shouting was because they were standing at the rooftop of the Sharpton, having arrived there by way of the service elevator. They had entered the hotel by way of the employees' entrance at the back, and somehow no one had noticed that the two women that had boarded the service elevator and brought it right to the top of the building. They had planned on taking the elevator to the penthouse, but that required some kind of key that they didn't have, so they settled for the ride to the roof.

Alexandra also took a cart filled with sheets and blankets with them on the elevator as part of a split-second decision, and now she was glad that she had done it. They would need the sheets to take her and Destiny down from the roof to the penthouse. And that was before they had even thought about getting through the glass into the suite.

"Do you have any better ideas?" Alexandra asked. When Destiny didn't reply, Alexandra continued, "Look, it's not like we have any other choice. We couldn't get to the penthouse through the elevator. This is really our only choice now."

"Okay," Destiny said. "Suppose we don't fall to our deaths because of your honestly very crazy plan. Suppose we manage to get down from the roof safely. How are we gonna break through the glass in the penthouse?"

"Leave that to me, girl," Alexandra replied. "Now help me tie these sheets to the antennas."

Ten minutes later, the two girls had tied about thirty sheets and blankets together to form a long chain of cloth running from one of the Sharpton's antennas down to what they hoped was a window to the hotel penthouse, where they also hoped Fruity Arellano was staying right now. Alexandra and Destiny looked down at their makeshift rope, which was ready to be dangled over the roof and down to the penthouse. "That's high," Destiny muttered, looking down at the ground a hundred floors below them.

"It's the moment of truth now," Alexandra said. "Wish me luck." She took hold of the bedsheet rope, twisted it around her right leg, mounted the banister on the roof, and then descended through the air. Her heart positively leaped into her throat once she felt the ground of the roof disappear from under her feet, to be replaced by nothing but air. She tightened her grip on the sheet rope, and she closed her legs to keep a tight grip on the rope tied around her leg. Alexandra muttered a prayer for her safety, and then she began descending down the rope.

"Are you okay down there?" Destiny asked. She was looking down at Alexandra, who was dangling in the air and slowly making her way down the rope.

"Just peachy," Alexandra replied. And then she shouted, "Oh, my God!"

"What!?" Destiny cried out. "What is it?"

"This view is really great!" Alexandra shouted back.

"Go on, then! Take the picture!"

Alexandra reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone, and took a picture of the Releinthi night skyline. Meanwhile, above her, Destiny did the same with her phone. "This is gonna make a very good Instagram post," she said.

"You got that right," Alexandra called out from below.

Once that was done, Alexandra continued her journey down the rope to the penthouse. Finally she arrived at the end of the rope, and she saw her reflection on one of the tinted glass windows of the penthouse. "I'm at the penthouse," she called out to Destiny.

"How are you gonna get in?" Destiny asked from above her.

"Hang on a minute." Alexandra swung her foot at the window. The window barely even budged. "Well, that didn't work like I thought," she muttered to herself. She swung herself a little bit farther away from the window, and then as she swung nearer, she kicked at the window once again. This time she heard a small cracking noise. "I think I'm getting through," she called out to Destiny.

"Make it quick, Lexie," Destiny shouted back. "Someone could come up here any moment!"

"Hold your horses!" Alexandra called out. She swung herself at the window once again and kicked out. Cracks now began to appear on the window. "I'm getting through!" she shouted. She repeated the process a few more times, and then the glass finally gave way and shattered. "I'm in!" she shouted at Destiny. "I'm in!"

"Yeah!" Destiny shouted from the roof. "Now get in there and see if Fruity's in there!"

Alexandra made one more swing for the window, and once she was sure she was going to slip through the hole in the window she released her hold on the rope and landed inside the room. Her legs and buttocks absorbed most of the impact with the floor of the room, and she laid down for a moment, groaning in pain. Finally she gingerly stood up and tied the rope to the wall that had held in place the glass pane that she had shattered. Alexandra then brushed off the glass on her clothes and began the trip into the dark interior of the Sharpton Hotel penthouse.

Dolphins Hammer Campbell State on Teal Thursday

Palm View University put together the performance its been waiting for on Thursday by dominating every phase of the game in a 33-9 rout over Campbell State at Dolphin Stadium. The Dolphins racked up 515 yards while limiting Campbell State to 263. Palm View also held a significant edge in passing yards (381-72) and yards per play (7.4-5.3) in route to a season high in points scored and a season low in points allowed.

Campbell State scored on the opening series of the game and led 7-0 after one quarter, but the Dolphins scored the game’s next 30 points to turn the seven-point deficit into a 23-point lead midway through the third quarter. Spurred by a controversial spot on its third play of the game, Campbell State scored on its opening drive to grab the early lead. Palm View seemingly held a three-and-out on the first series. Although it appeared that Campbell State's running back was stuffed for no gain on third-and-one at the 29 yard line, the officials ruled that the running back picked up the yard needed for the first down. Campbell State turned the good fortune into a seven-play, 80-yard drive. They would cap the series with a nine-yard touchdown run that gave them 7-0 advantage just 6:29 into the ballgame.

The Dolphins went three-and-out on their next series and Campbell State looked to be on the way to extending its lead when they drove deep into Dolphin territory on the ensuing drive. However, the turning point of the game came when Palm View's nose tackle, Darian Small, sustained a serious lower-body injury on an illegal chop block inside the Dolphin 30 yard line. The vicious play seemed to invigorate Palm View, which got a huge sack from Marcus Fulton on third down to turn what likely would have at least put three Campbell State points on the board into a punt. From there, the energized Dolphins scored on five-straight possessions. Palm View led 30-7 with 7:27 to go in the third quarter. During that 21:31 span, Palm View turned the game into a laugher by not only amassing 332 yards for four touchdowns and a field goal, but also limited Campbell State's high-powered offense to just 48 yards and three first downs over five series. After the Dolphins stretched the lead to 33-7, Campbell State showed signed of life for the next game by responding with a forced safety.

Stout connected on 27-of-33 passes without an interception for a career-high 381 yards and career-high-tying two touchdowns. He also rushed for a score in one of the best performances of his young career. His leading receiver was Warren Murphy, who racked up a career-high 129 yards on just five receptions. Fellow wideout Brett Ford also had a terrific afternoon with 10 catches for 127 yards. Neil Thompson and Mathew Rowland rounded out a great day by Palm View's receivers with six catches for 57 yards and three catches for 47 yards, respectively. Freshman running back Morris McClure added a presence on the ground for Palm View, rushing for 104 yards on 20 carries (5.2 avg.).

Marcus Fulton highlighted the defensive masterpiece with nine tackles, including 3.5 for loss and a sack. Inside linebackers George Baker and Melvin Clarke led the Dolphins with 10 tackles apiece while safety Brett Gilliam addednine tackles, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and an interception. Palm View remains at home to face the Horizon Conference defending champions, #7 Ramusok Capital, this Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Dolphin Stadium.

Coach Goose Carneghy looked over his team with resolute somberness. The south Seas University Honu had just lost a heartbreaker of a game, watching as #6 Stoneshore College slipped past their grasp for a 37-36 victory. While it was an important step to take such a good team down to a one point difference in final score, again, the team had been unable to make the leap for the next level.

They had, of course, donned a new era of jerseys, a set without individual names in attempt to increase team unity. It had worked magnificently the previous week, and had worked well this week. But in the end, be it by one hundred points or by a single, the team came up short. The only stat that matters is that one in the W column, and the Honu had started their first three games with only one, and two in the L column.

And yet, Carneghy did not get overly animated. Instead, he looked each of his players one by one in the eye, nodding his head.

"This is a long season," he began slowly and purposefully. "We've got a ways to go. Do not lose heart. I, for one, have not lost heart. This was a much better team than I saw week one against Ramusok, and, in fact, a better team than I saw last week against Palm View. And if we improve each week, that is all I can ask for."

"You know why I haven't lost heart? Because this is a team of champions. This is a team that I know wants to feel greatness. This is a team of destiny. Much like that legendary Honu team, who, on one legendary day, made one legendary play. THE play."

"You know about the play, right?" His question was met with a flurry of raised eyebrows and increased excitement in the room. Of course they had all heard about the play. It was a recruiting tactic used on each of them, and a piece of South Seas Honu lore and history. And yet, not a one of them could place a finger on the exact details of the play. It was a story that had been told over and over in a thousand variations, each just as spectacular as the next.

"Well, let me tell you about the play, the straight truth."

"It was 1986, and the team was locked in a battle for the Islanders Football Conference with Wycliffe University. The Waves had just taken a 28-22 lead with only 40 seconds to go on the game clock. Honu quarterback Mark Jacobis took the snap from center and faked a toss to running back Harlow Lancaster. The Waves didn't buy it. They knew Jacobis would have to go deep, and they put no attention on Lacaster whatsoever. Lancaster was just able to get a chip of a block on the Waves linebacker crashed down on the line, preventing what would have turned out to be a Jacobis sack."

Carneghy's voice raised in volume as he started to draw frantically on a white board. "Jacobis ducked under the linebacker's outstretched arm, performing a spin move as he backtracked five yards and bootlegged to the left side of the line. But the Waves had that entire side of the field covered, and Jacobis, a right handed quarterback, was forced to look back to the far side of the field as he entered a full on sprint toward the sideline."

Carneghy's cadence and tempo quickened. "Meanwhile, 35 yards down the field on the opposite sideline, wide receiver Enos Crenshaw had a step against the Waves defensive back, and lifted his arm to signal to Jacobis that he was open. At the exact moment Jacobis went to draw back his arm to throw, however, Crenshaw stumbled in his route, falling to the turf."

"Jacobis was forced to use all of his hand strength to hold on to the ball, effectively perfroming a pump fake as Crenshaw rose to his feet and retreated on his position since his route had been broken. There was just enough time for Jacobis to make a cut from his momentum, sling his shoulders around, and throw all the way across his body. Crenshaw made a spectacular leap, ripping the ball out of the defensive back's hands at the very apex of the jump."

"As other defenders swarmed to the ball, Crenshaw noticed Lancaster just a few yards behind, having finished out his route that fooled nobody. With a qucik flip, Crenshaw lateralled to Lancaster, who performed a spin move of his own and reversed course back to the left side of the field. There was now a small amount of grass in front of him, and he ran toward the sideline trying to gain as much field as possible."

At this stage of the speech, Carneghy had worked himself into a frenzy, his tone higher than ever and his voice at near micro machine man speeds. "The defenders who had accurately played the left side of the field, meanwhile started to converge on Lancaster near the sideline. "Three of them met at the same time, bottling up the field and holding Lancaster to a standstill. His legs pumping, Lancaster refused to go down without a fight, and he staved off a tackle for a few brief moments before succumbing to the mob."

And now, with an amount of suspense in the air, Carneghy paused, and deliberately slowed his tempo. "It was just enough of a brief moment. Jacobis has followed Lancaster up the sideline, getting directly behind the runningback as the defense emerged. Milliseconds before Lancaster's knee touched the ground, he shoved the football into Jacobis' hands."

Again, Carneghy ramped it up, playing to the vocal emotions at work in the room. "With one more spin move to avoid the pileup, Jacobis reversed course back toward the right sideline, accelereating as he saw nothing but green grass in front of him. The defenders on that half of the field, having seen the play unfold, had lost their discipline and had overpursued as Lancaster had carried to the opposite sideline, and now after a few steps the nearest defender to Jacobis was 15 yards in the middle of the field."

"With one man to beat, Jacobis sent a shocking stiffarm into the safety's mask, warding off the attack at the fifteen yard line and shoving the defender to the ground! As the band raced onto the field, Jacobis high stepped into the endzone for the go ahead score! The stadium went into an absolute frenzy!"

And, once again, Carneghy lowered his voice and slowed his tempo. "And, much like the start of this season, the play was exactly how we drew it up."

Banija suffers first loss against St.Augustinus; set to host Top 5 Army team in week 5

Image
Northern's quarterback is sacked in the 4th quarter against St.Augustinus

ST.AUGUSTINUS- The top two teams in the Celestia Conference were facing each other, and this was a game that had more than a few pairs of eyes from outside the conference on it today. Northern Moravica and St.Augustinus were the two top teams in the Celestia Conference. Both 3-0, both schools had very different paths to being undefeated through three weeks. Northern Moravica is a brand new school within the NSCF, and Northern has one of the most dominant defenses in the NSCF. They did not allow a single point through 3 games, setting a school record for most amount of minutes played without allowing a single point. This was broken with 2:33 left in the 1st quarter, as Northern set the school record at 193 minutes and 27 seconds of football played without conceding a single point.

St.Augustinus, on the other hand, is a power within the conference, and all of NSCF. They have consistently been involved in the NSCF, and they have most deservedly been ranked in the Top 10 for the entire season, including being the #2 team in the entire NSCF going into the game with Northern Moravica. And they have done that through their offense. They have scored 96 points per game this season, averaging 24 points per game. If it wasn't for the Horizon Conference lighting up the scoreboard all year long, then they'd be tied for 1st in the NSCF in scoring offense. However, three teams in the Horizon Conference are putting up 28 or more points per game, so they are 4th in scoring offense. Still, they have one of the best teams in the game, and that is why they were ranked #2 going into today.

The story of the day was not the St.Augustinus offense, however. It was their defense. Their defense smothered Northern Moravica in every which way, not allowing Northern to cross the goal line, and winning the turnover battle 5-1. Head Coach Horace Browning Jr. said that the turnover margin was the reason Northern was not able to be successful against St.Augustinus. "When you go on the road, in this sport, it takes a very strong mentality to pull off a win, especially when you play against a team with as much quality as St.Augustinus. St.Augustinus has a great home crowd, and there was a lot of energy today on the field. We simply could not handle the stage, and hats off to St.Augustinus, who forced us to make mistakes and forced our quarterback into an uncharacteristically bad day, with three interceptions, all in the second half. They did whatever they wanted on defense, and we're going to have to put this behind us, and regroup for Army."

St.Augustinus was able to put its first points on the board in the first half, when a 63 yard drive led for a 27 yard chip shot for 1st year kicker Andreas Flaccus. That field goal ended the Northern Moravica shutout streak, and was the first points of the game for the Priests. The game was evenly played for the rest of the half, as only one first down between the teams was achieved in the first half, and they went into the locker room with Northern Moravica down 3-0. Northern was down, they were struggling, and even had a turnover on a fumble by Vena Resnick, but things could be worse. It was a one possesion game, and Northern was one big play away from taking the lead.

However, the second half was much worse for Banija than the first half. St.Augustinus forced a 3 & out on Northern's first drive, and an excellent punt by Mathijs Norel pinned St.Augustinus at their 7 yard line. Andreas Polus, the quarterback and team captain for St.Augustinus, the 4th year player from St.Ioannes, was then able to show why he was a leading candidate for Most Outstanding Player. He led his team on a 15 play, 93 yard, 5:56 drive down the field, that ended in a 4 yard touchdown pass on 2nd & goal to tight end Maks Bender to give St.Augustinus a 10-0 lead. That gave St.Augustinus momentum and confidence, and made the Northern offense antsy to get on the field.

Their second drive of the 3rd quarter started much better than the first one. After two strong runs by Zivorad Dvorak, Northern had crossed midfield, and was in the process of taking momentum back from St.Augustinus. Quarterback Slawomir Kovach made the first of 3 costly errors however, as he forced a ball over the middle of the field, overthrew his intended target at the 15 yard line, and was intercepted by the deep safety Jamie Baker at the 5 yard line. This killed any offensive momentum Northern had, and they went into the 4th quarter down 10-0.

After getting a field goal with 13 minutes left in the 4th quarter to make it 10-3, Northern believed that they would be able to come back. However, they did not do what was required of them to come back. In fact ,they did the opposite of what they needed to do to ensure a comeback victory over St.Augustinus. St.Augustinus was allowed to drive down the length of the field, and Northern forced its only turnover of the game, an interception by strong safety Jasenko Horny inside the end zone for a touchback, and Northern got the ball at their own 20 yard with 8 minutes left, and only down by 7. However, the first play went terribly wrong. A handoff to Dvorak was mishandled and fumbled, and recovered by Nose Guard Silvester Maelius. One 17 yard option run later, and Northern was all of a sudden down 17-3, and losing the turnover battle 3-1.

Kovach would not help himself any more during the rest of the game. After getting a few first downs running the hurry up offense, he threw an interception with 5:40 left, and when Northern finally got the ball back, he threw one more interception at the 50 yard line to seal the deal with 44 seconds left, as two kneel downs ended the game and clinched a victory for St.Augustinus. Slawomir Kovach, the Northern quarterback, did not have his best game, throwing for 240 yards, but throwing for 3 interceptions and ultimately, 0 touchdowns. The offensive coordinator Peter Ras, who is also the quarterbacks coach, said that one bad game wasn't the end of the world. He said that having a short memory is important for quarterbacks, and that Kovach was the quarterback of this team now and for the long haul. He said that Kovach would work hard in practice, and be better prepared for Northern's game against 3-1 Army.

Hometown Hero Honu Confuse, Conquer Cylones
Story by Abraham Shepherd

Mosaic—Coming off of a heartbreaking single point loss to Stoneshore College, the South Seas University Honu returned to the Plumeria Garden to notch a 44-30 victory over Campbell State. The victory brought the Honu back to .500 on the season, evening the win-loss record at 2-2.

In a bounce back game that has come in a back and forth season, the biggest development of the day was not that the Honu returned for a win, but how exactly they did so. In a move that came as a surprise to all parties except the official team members, each Honu player took the field in a jersey number that was different from the number they had been assigned at the beginning of the season. It was a move that further changed the scope of on-field developments, and a surprising sequel to the program's move of removing individual names from jerseys two weeks ago.

"It was a calculated choreography," Coach Goose Carneghy noted of the tactic after the game. "We fell short to Stoneshore even though we had removed the names from our jerseys—and when we went back and studied the film, it became really apparent that Stoneshore had done their homework. Removing the names meant nothing to them because they knew who our players were. So we shook it up a bit against the Cyclones."

The move certainly appeared to serve its purpose, as the Honu kept the Cyclones—as well as the Plumeria Garden fans and the television crew [ed.]--on their heels and guessing the entire game. With judicious substitutions by Carneghy, it quickly proved a cerebral exercise to monitor what personnel was on the field at any given time, an advantage that the Cyclones ultimately could not overcome.

With the shift in numbers laying a foundation for the afternoon guessing game, Carneghy played up the Saturday shuffle to the best of his ability, utilizing a full rotation of players like never before. In perhaps a telling move directed at the efforts to reestablish team unity, every member of the 54 player team played at least one snap. Even more perplexing was that Carneghy liberally mixed in players out of their typical position.

The crushing blow, perhaps, came in the third quarter, when Roosevelt Calderon, who before this game was listed as the team's starting nose tackle, lined up behind Ezra Talbot as a halfback. The 6'8", 323 pound behemoth sent a bruising blow to the Cyclone defenders as he rumbled in for a three yard score on a pitch toward the right sideline.

In his post-game presser, Carneghy noted the advantages accrued were significant. "It was a big deal," Carneghy stated. "It was really a statement that moving forward, you better be able to defend what this team does and be prepared for any look we give you. Teams simply aren't going to be able to watch tape and know what to expect because we are going to mix and match personnel. When you never know what to expect, it makes it that much harder to defend."

The Honu had come into the season marketing plans to mix things up on both offense and defense, and it appears that the team has taken such a declaration to the next level with this latest turn of events. Carneghy even stated that such a shakeup provided a much needed framework for changing on-field schemes on the fly. "It was really liberating, actually," Carneghy noted after the game. "For the first time our players weren't married to a particular role, so it really freed us up to get creative with our offensive and defensive looks. And it worked just the way we drew it up."

With a cloud of uncertainty about the identity of this team, one thing remains clear: Goose Carneghy is pushing this team to the next level, and revealing a little bit more of the highly celebrated creative genius that had Honu fans so excited when Carneghy was first hired for the position.

South Seas University once again heads on the road for matchday five, facing the University of Galthurin. The Honu will hope to further change their fates as they look to secure their first road game of the season; while the first two road games came against top five opponents Ramusok Capital and Stoneshore College, matchday five's road trip will pit the Honu against a Broncos team who has yet to win its first game this season.

Coach Carneghy is hoping to keep Galthurin, as well as the rest of the NSCF and everybody else, guessing as to what the next wrinkle might bring. All one can really say is, "Hold on folks; it is going to be a fun ride."

Saturday's game may be viewed at 1:00 PM Costa Alurian time, on local channel 8, The Wave.

Payday, Part Seventeen

The Sharpton Hotel
Releinthi, Abanhfleft

It was very dark inside the penthouse of the Sharpton Hotel, and Alexandra's eyes took a few moments to adjust. She felt more than heard Destiny sliding down the rope made of bed sheets that they had tied between an antenna on the roof of the hotel and a window in the penthouse because loud music was playing on speakers that had been rigged all throughout the suite. The throbbing bass beat on Alexandra's chest and made he a bit nauseous, but she shook off the feeling and continued deeper into the penthouse.

"Holy crap, this place is so big," Destiny tried to say above the loud music. "How are we gonna find Fruity in this big penthouse?"

"Like usual," Alexandra replied. "Now go watch my six so Fruity doesn't get the jump on us."

And Fruity Arellano did indeed not manage to surprise the two girls from behind. Instead, he jumped right in front of Alexandra from his hiding place from God knows where and sent a ferocious right fist right at Alexandra's midsection. Alexandra toppled backward, and Fruity then clipped Destiny with a roundhouse kick that was sloppy and only made contact with the target because she had not been expecting it.

Alexandra groaned and clutched at her midsection as she picked herself up from the ground. Destiny was out for the count, and when Fruity saw Alexandra standing up, he ran up to her and began sending out a flurry of punches and jabs while screaming at her like the lovechild of a banshee and Bruce Lee. She parried the shots as best as she could, but Fruity, despite his apparent bulk, was quite fast, and inevitably she was hit by his kung fu moves. Finally, Fruity sent a kick to Alexandra's knee, and it buckled from the pain, sending her kneeling to the ground. Fruity then sent a knee into Alexandra's chin, and she collapsed onto the ground.

"Nobody catches the great kung fu master Fructuoso Arellano!" Fruity yelled out. "Toodaloo, motherfuckers!" Then, just as Alexandra was picking herself up from the ground again, Fruity bolted for the open window and jumped out.

"Fruity, no!" Alexandra managed to say. She ran over to the window and expected--but did not want--to see Fruity plummeting to his death, but she saw nothing to confirm nor deny that assumption. And then a gust of wind went up, and she suddenly saw Fruity flying in the air under a black parachute. The man was cackling madly. "You ain't got no parachutes like me, bitches!" he shouted, and then he steered his parachute away from the hotel.

"Goddamn you, you son of a bitch," Alexandra muttered, and then she went over to Destiny, who was just regaining consciousness, and asked her, "Are you all right?"

"You try getting roundhoused by a fat bastard like Fruity and see if you're all right after it," Destiny replied.

"Fruity jumped."

"What!?"

"Yeah, but he's got a parachute.

"Well, what are we gonna do?"

"We can't do anything now," Alexandra said. "Wait a minute." She reached for her cellphone and called Allison. She answered after the second ring. "Hey, how's it going?" she asked. "Did you get Fruity?"

"Not really," Alexandra replied. "The fat bastard jumped. He's got a parachute, and he looked like he was gonna go down close to where you are when I last saw him."

"What do you want me to do?" Allison asked.

"Follow him, stupid!" Alexandra almost shouted. "You don't expect me and Destiny to jump out after him, do you?"

Allison, who was seated in the driver's seat of the Maserati, looked up at the hotel and then saw the black parachute clearly visible against the bright lights of the Sharpton. "I see him," she told Alexandra. "All right, I'm going after him."

"And after you get him, come back to the hotel for us," Alexandra said. "I think the gold's still in here. No way in hell that he can jump out of a window with a parachute and all his gold."

"Got that." Allison ended the call and began following Fruity's parachute with her eyes. "Goddamn you, Fruity Arellano for putting me through all this shit!" she muttered, and then she started the Maserati's engine and went off in pursuit of Fruity.

The chase took her through most of downtown Releinthi, and she fought hard to keep herself from breaking traffic rules in her pursuit of Fruity. Even though the Fleftic National Police didn't know that she was one of the robbers behind the heist at the First National Bank in Riuwiee, she didn't want them finding out about it if she ever got pulled over for running a red. Nor did she want the crocs to know that she was chasing after the second-most wanted in Abanhfleft at the command of the most wanted man himself, Guillermo Huesca.

Allison darted ahead of the traffic once the lights had turned green, leaving behind a trail of angry honking motorists in her wake. After that intersection she found herself headed for the Juan Mariano Triumphal Arch, a huge marble arch erected in the geographic middle of the island of Releinthi in memory of Juan Mariano, generally considered to be one of Abanhfleft's best generals of the Napoleonic era. The arch itself was a blatant rip-off of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, except the only difference was that the Mariano Arch was made of smoothed out blocks of marble with little to no design. As Allison merged into the roundabout that went around the arch, she saw Fruity's parachute travel right through the arch of, well, the arch. In that moment she then lost sight of the parachute.

"Goddamn this traffic!" she shouted as cars began to pile up in front of her. Traffic in this part of the city was comparable, if not worse, to the worst traffic in the likes of Paris, Moscow and Manila. The traffic around the Mariano Arch was at a crawl, but despite that Allison could still follow Fruity and his parachute with her eyes. She finally found a gap in traffic that would allow her to follow the road that Fruity looked to be following himself.

However, when she got on the road, she couldn't see any trace of Fruity or his parachute. Allison knew that she had taken the right road just before she made her mad dash across the mad Releinthi traffic. But somehow Fruity had vanished. It couldn't be because of his black parachute; black was clearly visible in the night sky because it was darker than the darkness. So that reason was out.

Suddenly Allison heard something smash into the top of the Maserati. She stopped the car when black clothlike material began to cover the windshield. The Maserati skidded to a halt, and then she heard a body skid across the roof of the car and land on the ground in front of the car. That was followed by a loud masculine groan which she somehow recognized. Allison quickly got out of the car and ran over to the front to see who it was that she had hit or had hit the car.

The black cloth was actually the parachute, and Fruity Arellano lay beside a fire hydrant in pain. It was obvious that he had struck the hydrant after he had made the not very smart decision to land on top of the Maserati. The second most wanted man in Abanhfleft lay bruised and battered at her feet, and Allison didn't know what to do.

"Help me," Fruity said as he coughed up blood. "This wasn't the smartest decision ever."

"All right, Fruity, enough talking and running," Allison said. "You're coming with me." She then picked up Fruity and dragged him over to the Maserati's trunk, ignoring the looks that passersby were giving her.
