Welcome to the latest edition of the World Cup hosted by Valanora and Equestrian States! This is the roster thread, in here you can post your roster for the 72nd World Cup thread.

Some general requirements for a good roster post (or at least one that one that won't give your opponents headaches) include adding a style modifier (-5, +5; and everything in between), a starting 11, manager, reserves and formation. If you want, you can also flesh out your roster post with nice bios/nicknames/literallyanyyinformationyouwanttoadd of your players and/or manager. Although that part is merely optional.

Style mod, for those that don't know basically determine if your NT plays a offensive style or defensive one. The details you can work out via RP. The higher your style modifier, the more goals you will score and the more goals you will allow. In contrast, the lower your style modifier, the fewer goals you will score and the fewer goals you will allow. So if you want your team to play like, 80s Italy or Greece, choose negative numbers, if you want your team to play like Chile or Holland choose positive. Neutral? Get 0 or a number close to 0 (like .019). Bit of a warning though, a higher style mod does not equal better chances in qualification. Remember that when you choose the maximum option of +5.

Background

The Tigers have firmly established themselves as a team that should be able to qualify for every World Cup now, but so far they've never quite taken the next step. In three World Cups now, they've only gotten out of the group stage once, a run that was capped with a disappointing 5-4 loss to HopNation, arguably the only nation actually in the Ro16 they were favorites over, in the Round of Sixteen. Now, with such greats as Ryan Reagan, Derrick Nelson, and Kyle Sturgeon all left off the squad, and with Bogdan Antonescu's abrupt departure and replacement with Carlton Hoover, this Tigers squad will struggle to recreate themselves under Hoover's system as Hoover tries to narrow thirty-two players down to twenty-three while also getting a spot in the Cup. Can the Tigers reinvent themselves again? Or will they go the way of the disastrous WC69 team?

GOALKEEPERS

Annabeth Kudlowski, usually one of the most durable players on the planet, was sidelined for the qualifiers with a knee injury three days after new manager Carlton Hoover suggested that she would be the starter. Worse yet, McKenzie Ferguson was in a car crash shortly after and forced to leave the team to recuperate. And the third news in the Tigers’ run of catastrophically bad luck with their keepers struck when Henry McNeal elected to retire. Once again, the duty of keeping the ball out of the net will fall to Jared Finch, starting to fall from the apex of his career for SiegLeague’s Fontvieille FC. Finch’s backups? The good, but not outstanding, AJ Ramires, the unproven Connor Matthewson, who may belong on the now-defunct U21 team, and Tanner Blanton, who might as well not exist.

DEFENDERS

Hoover has made his plan well-known for the Tigers’ defense. Coming from the wildly successful 3-2-3-2 he played with FC New Llama, he wanted to reconfigure the team to have one or two wing-backs and three true defenders. This lead to Hoover’s selection of ex-FC New Llama youth team member Tristan Karnstedt to play the right wing, Adrian Carmichael being brought back to play the left wing, and Alex Bale rebranded as a reserve and occasional center-back option. Nicholas Gray was scrapped after a few disappointing seasons at Katterna Fjords, Adam Bay was injured, and Reagan and Roberts both retired from international play, forcing Javier Agudieres and Sebastian Myers to lead the young bunch. How it turns out will be anyone’s guess.

MIDFIELDERS

For the midfield, last World Cup seemed to be a gigantic set of tryouts with unbelievable pressure. With Kyle Sturgeon gone, they're going to need all the help they can get. Anthony Player now has pressure to succeed Sturgeon as the playmaker of old, while Dickinson should have an easy time filling the retired Alex Ford’s niche. With two wingbacks getting things started, the “3” of Hoover’s 5-3-2 will likely consist of two versatile midfielders capable of playmaking and attacking and a more adventurous CAM. Who those are will be up in the air for a while as Hoover adjusts to his new team.

STRIKERS

Most of the strikers have prior experience - with only one exception, newcomer Chandler Southwick - making this potentially the most confident group on the team. With Cartwright no longer the magic scorer of earlier Cups, Eden Powell retired, and Peter Masters’ scalpel touch blemished by age, the strike pairings of old are mostly ruined. Once again Hoover will have to experiment with a slew of good strikers, mixing and matching. However, most outsiders would agree that the teams’ strikers are mostly about finesse, leading many to believe that Hoover will either try to work out a way that Nilssen and Magnusson could play on the same pitch or opt to keep using Cartwright.

Furelese Bogdan Antonescu, despite a successful run, unexpectedly decided that managing the Tigers was no longer for him. The search around ended abruptly when Carlton Hoover came out of retirement to offer to put his name in the hat. The former FC New Llama manager, widely considered one of the best managers in history, quickly won the job and began to appoint some of his old New Llama crew to the team. He’s hardly the most compatible with the team, being known to force an odd 3-2-3-2-esque thing on everything (here slightly de-weirded into a 5-3-2), but his experience and wisdom are far better fits than anything else the Tigers were choosing from.

Hoover, after retiring from professional football and serving in the military under the Granveir regime, became the assistant coach of the now-defunct FC Los Juantos - North in 1986. Successfully training Los Juantos’ motley assortment of youngsters and leading them to consecutive third-place finishes, he left to manage FC Denison, a mid-table team consisting of mostly veterans. Hoover had ups and downs with the team, in 1991 being relegated the year after they placed second. By 1993, he was out of a job, spending time with mediocre Emerald Springs, before finally joining New Llama in 1994. From then until 2009, he was a master, winning six league titles and, first through player development, then through a shift in tactics, and finally through an innate ability to select the best foreign footballers, turning New Llama into arguably the best team Super-Llamaland had to offer.

Adam Castronova has been a sort of journeyman coach, and many criticized him for his two installments as manager of the U-21 Llamanean Royals, both of which ended poorly, although his player development remained unchallenged. Besides that, he’s spent a few stints as assistant manager for New Llama and Ruby Falls, mostly successful.

Hoover’s old buddy and former assistant manager Tobyn Clearwater, the innovator behind the new Llamanean manager’s success, has been brought on as a coach. It was Clearwater who pioneered most of Carlton Hoover’s first formations and popularized them as a coach with New Llama and Denison, and it’s Clearwater who Hoover has delegated Llamanean tactics to.

Eric Matthews, synonymous in Llamanean scouting circles as a high-profile flop, has returned to be the goalkeeper’s coach. After giving up a few key goals at World Cup 65 as a teenage phenom, Matthews seemingly lost his touch, relegated to the bench while Henry McNeal and then Jared Finch ran with the torch he had dropped. Still, he never quite lost his skill and was back quickly on the bench for a few classics.

Dane Moore, a former defender for the Llamanean C-team who never quite broke out despite his promise, went into medicine after his career ended abruptly at twenty-seven when Moore realized he would never realize his dream after a slew of injuries. Since then he’s gone into sports medicine, accepting positions on the Kyrinson Twin Pines baseball team and FC Emerald Springs.

Notes

After a disastrous 70th World Cup cycle, Rule Theriault's privately owned National Soccer Team was nationalized by Consul Kulseth's Imperial Government. The self-destruction of the Holy Republicans was the defining story of World Cup 70, as this team feuded amongst themselves for all of Qualifying, eventually failing to qualify for the World Cup Finals. They were rewarded for their ineptitude with a trip to the Cup of Harmony, a tournament that will be remembered for Rule Theriault's bizarre meltdown during a post-match press conference, after his team had won a match! The conclusion of Theriault's tenure as the manager of the Holy Republican National Team will cast a dark shadow over his accomplishments.

However, Theriault had impressive accomplishments as the manager of this team. Assembling a team of high school dropouts, reform school stars and other rogues of society, Theriault created a cohesive unit that, at one point, were able to beat the best teams in the multiverse by the sheer power of their belief in themselves and in the inherent superiority of the Republican people. This was never exemplified more than during World Cup 68, when Theriault's predictions that his team would win the World Cup on home soil were laughed at by pretty much everybody outside of his own nation. However, few were laughing when a series of miraculous victories saw the Republicans knock off the supposedly unbeatable Polar Islandstates and earn a spot in the World Cup final. Then, it all began to fell apart as Theriault threw a fit over the decision, by his co-hosts from Legalese, to hold the match in Legalese. The team came out flat in that match and began a decline that eventually led to Theriault's downfall.

Petrus Fadius was hand-picked by the Consul to manage the National Soccer Team. Fadius was, formerly, the Tactical Consultant for the Saintland National Team. For his assistant, he chose Lucas Gavius, another talented former Sanctii captain with a similar mentality. Fadius and Gavius are committed to an attack-heavy style and have chosen to revamp the Republican National Team, with an eye toward team chemistry. Notorious locker room cancers such as the female players and Kiernan Hancock are gone while Sachiya Inoue, the well-liked, if somewhat awkward, Taiyouese star has joined the leaner Republican unit. Theriault's ridiculous "Cheerleading" squad, which was little more than a thinly veiled communal harem, has also been disbanded.

This younger Republican National Team, while still built around star attackers Kyle Bolton and Koby Theodore, included several first time starters. Most notable among there were Levai Imre, the supremely talented young keeper and Inoue. While the team has a shaky defense, they have an offense-oriented philosophy and are more interested in scoring goals than preventing them. After a third placed finish at World Cup 71, they underperformed at this year's Campionato Esportiva, being upset by Brenecia in the Round of 16. Ranked #5 coming into World Cup 72, expectations are sky high at this World Cup.

An important note is that the official name of the nation is the Holy Republican Empire and that referring to the nation as the "Free Republics" or "Federation of Free Republics" is considered highly offensive by the Holy Party and those aligned with them. Usage of those names for the nation is associated with opponents of the Kulseth regime such as the Legion of Lucifer, which is ICly believed to be responsible for the arson attack on the legislative buildings.

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. In the Sanctii version of the 4-2-1-3 formation, the outside backs also function as outside midfielders. King Andreas is the younger brother of former King Petrus XX, quarterback and captain for Saintland's gridiron team and also of Prince Ioannes, the captain of Saintland's basketball team. He is the team captain and the team's playmaker and was recently anointed the new King of Saintland by Patriarch Nicolaus V following the excommunication of King Petrus XX. Ioannes and Nicolaus Poenius are brothers, as are Silvester, Paulus and Josephus Flaccus, Stephanus and Philippus Vagionius, Petrus and Isaacus Barrius and Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Inventius is a defensive-minded midfielder. Stephanus Vagionius is not an especially fast player, but he is very tall and he is an exceptional finisher. Philippus Vagionius is faster than his brother, but not as good at finishing. The Poenius brothers both have world-class speed. When Saintland attacks, Prince Andreas usually has possession of the ball and has to decide whether to go for the goal himself or pass it to Vagionius or Flaccus instead. Prince Andreas takes free kicks, corners and throw-ins. Stephanus Vagionius will handle penalties.

After the ascension to the Throne of King Petrus XX, he reached out to Josephus Flaccus. Flaccus had defected Saintland following World Cup 65 qualifying and became a star in New Sideburn's domestic league. King Petrus XX worked out a deal for him to return to the Saintland National Team. This led to Saintland's most successful World Cup up to that point in the 68th edition, which concluded with a Round of 16 defeat to Polar Islandstates. That was followed up with a Round of 16 exit from their first Copa Rushmori, at the hands of Taeshan. Saintland dominated in Qualifying for World Cup 69, but were stunned by Antoletia in the group stage, suffering an early exit. They came into their second Copa Rushmori as the 4th highest ranked Rushmori nation in the then-current KPB rankings and made it all the way to the finals before faltering against Polar Islandstates. After an ill-fated host bid for all 3 WCC events during the 70th cycle, King Petrus XX gave his brother Andreas an ultimatum - Win World Cup 70 or be stripped of his captaincy! After Prince Andreas failed to accomplish that, he was stripped of his captaincy.

Former Holy Republican National Team manager Rule Theriault was hired as the first manager of the Saintland National Team. Theriault was highly successful as the Republican manager, taking a bunch of lightly regarded prospects and turning them into one of the elite teams in international soccer, a team that came very close to winning World Cup 68. However, after his team self-destructed during the 70th World Cup cycle, it was nationalized by the Imperial Government of the Holy Republican Empire and Theriault was left without his team. Fortunately for him, his long-time assistant Massimiliano Abdullahi had already been approached by King Petrus XX for the Sanctii managerial job. After Theriault became available, Abdullahi convinced the King of Saintland to hire his former boss instead.

Rule Theriault, the son of a Republican admiral, never really had the right temperament to manage a Republican team, but he could not have had a better temperament, on paper, to be the Sanctii manager. Theriault believes in defensive-oriented soccer, with an emphasis on discipline, perfect execution and on the primacy of the team rather than the individual. While he had to mute these aspects of his personality in order to manage a Republican team that quickly became the most hated team in the multiverse, he expected to be able to be himself as the manager of the Sanctii National Team.

Theriault's first move was to radically alter the Sanctii team's tactics. Saintland, a nation known for developing great defensive soccer talent, had gradually become a recklessly attack-oriented team under Prince Andreas's captaincy, as Prince Andreas left the team without a competent defensive back. While Theriault reduced the size of the roster and re-numbered the players, his biggest change was his shift to a 6-3-1 formation, which he has dubbed the "Ladder" formation. The "Ladder" is built around preventing goals from being scored, with a heavy reliance on the counter-attack to produce goals. Therefore, Lucas Aufidius, the subpar defensive back who is primary known as a long-ball specialist, remains in the starting lineup. However, Matthaeus Belaeus returns to the starting lineup and young Paulus Plinius will be permitted to start on a regular basis for the first time. But, the anchor of the Sanctii defense is Iulianus Agrius, a young sweeper for the St. Paulus club in the Sanctii domestic league, who will be making his National Team debut at this tournament. Another notable new starter is Andreas Inventius, a long-time Sanctii reserve who was held out of the starting lineup by Prince Andreas because he was a defensive minded midfielder rather than an attack-minded one. With the departure of Acedonian ringer Herakles Karoki, who has under-performed in the past few cycles, and the aging Georgius Catiotus, the Sanctii National Team now consists of 23 players, the fewest in a long time, but Theriault believed that the team would be better off without the 2 of them.

At the 20th edition of the Copa Rushmori, Theriault's Sanctii National Team reached the semis before falling to Eura. The Sanctii entered World Cup Qualifying for the 71st cycle ranked 10th in the current KPB rankings, their highest ranking ever and had qualified for 4 out of the previous 5 World Cups, including 3 straight going into World Cup 71. However, the team never advanced past the Round of 16 under Prince Andreas and Saintland has never won any international soccer tournament. Theriault started out that World Cup cycle hoping to change that, with his new emphasis on defense, but instead managed Saintland to their worst WCQ performance as a number of star players refused to put in any effort, in hopes of getting Theriault fired. King Petrus refused to fire Theriault and ordered the team to win the followed edition of the Cup of Harmony if they wished to enter future editions of the World Cup. They would finish third, but it would ultimately prove a moot point as King Andreas fired Theriault, appointed himself captain again and decided to enter World Cup 72 anyways.

However, King Andreas has decided against returning to the ultra-aggressive formation that he utilized during his first captaincy. Instead, the Sanctii will now play a 1-4-1-2-1-1 formation, with the only significant change being Petrus Mamilius's placement in the starting lineup in place of Matthaeus Belaeus. The new Sanctii team will still be a relatively defensive-minded team, but nowhere near as defensive-minded as they were under Theriault. King Andreas hopes that this will lead to their return to the World Cup finals and advancement beyond the Round of 16 for the first time. While they made the semi-finals of the Copa Rushmori for the third consecutive time, the Sanctii would fail to win the big one once again...

The Guayabalense NT in the last cycle

After some time of success during the World Cup 70 Qualifiers and also during a great part of the World Cup 71 Qualifiers where they almost dominated their group but felll off in a last matchday game against the top seed, Saintland, there was hope at playoffs but a fatal error from Hernández turned one of the most memorable comebacks of Guayabalense football (From losing 0-2 to winning 4-2 at home and going to WC during those minutes) into another missed chance to be in the World Cup Finals, an own goal in the 92nd minute was enough to send San José Guayabal to the CoH again.

That CoH was beileved to be a fiasco according to some sport pundits, a sahem at home was forecasted but the national team, under the conduction of Paulo Oliveira and Alfredo Herrera performed an spectacular participation that made dream to an entire nations, reaching the final with a new game style, very solid in defense, allowing just one goal during the entire tournament, the final against an historic team like Valanora was the launching platform to glory for La Selecta, who after a hard fought game, they lifted the champions trophy after beating the Vanorians 4-3 in Penalty Kicks.

Now, this national team took that portion of inspiration that they needed to do the things well, they know that achieving major accolades isn't an impossible task, secially with a young and talented squad like this one, now at the World Cup 72 Qualifiers, La Selecta wants to put the pedal to the metal literally and fight for a World Cup Finals berth and then try to do their best in order to beat the Group Stage barrier.

After undesirable results in the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, La Selecta decided to start a reengineering in its game system, after proving that a good defence is not something from other planet, receiving fifteen goals in fourteen matches during the World Cup 71, a new slightly defensive system was established in the team, featuring for the first time a line of four midfielderss, trying to block the highest number of possibilities of the rival team, also including a rookie into the team, Abraham Terrazas is having his first experience as the goalkeeper of the Starting XI, with one midfielder who can have a rol of defence like Núñez, this team is probably a quite defensive version of La Selecta. A key aspect that changes a bit from the other lineups used throughout the history, is the use of two strikers instead, in order to keep the offensive capacity that has characterized the football of the National Team and maybe the bastion of the whole Guayabalense football.

The "home" roster of SJG features the use three defenders with some experience like James Moreira and Meyson Salume, both can act as key players if we talk about the realization of transitions to offensive plays meanwhile Passarelli is the team sweeper and also most experienced of the team in terms of playing in the international scene, specifically in UICA tournaments. In the midfield we can see a rhombus shaped position of four players, being Saucedo and Bregoo a kind of fake forwards due to the changing role of the tactical system that can feature five forwards in case of need and Núñez together with Valencia can be sort of defence in case of need. Game style: The game who SJG does is essentially technical, based on the agility of movement from the players, using their intelligence for the game to find lone spaces and perform single passes that are very accurate and "in depth", they like to accumulate players while attacking or using the surprise factor which is use the speed of the players to perform counter attacks that usually have a good level of effectivity, taking in consideration that this is a team who thinks in score the goals as fast as possible instead of defending (Well known as "The Kill or Die Philosophy." Which is the most used tactic on Guayabalense football throughout his history), something that they do even when they face a football powerhouse or a extremely offensive team, no matter the rival, the objective is score the highest amount of goals and win the three points.

In the defence area, they tend to use physical game style in order to set conditions to the rivals, despite that the defenders are of medium height, they are well known for their skill at aerial game, so it is very difficult to beat them, specially in corners or set pieces, expect always fair play from this team, avoiding to do fouls into the last 25-30 meters of their defence area.

Players normally like to do long-distance shots or seek for chances in aerial game via set pieces or corners, specially with Árbol Saucedo and Mattías Passarelli, who are the tallest players of the entire squad. Still, this team can do some special moves, considering the idea of the team of never give up and trying to be efficient while attacking.

Alfredo Herrera 68 Y/O, Nationality: Aquillian (Part of Osarius)

We've all heard the anecdotes about Aquillian's national football team manager Alfredo Herrera, and how he is sometimes "endearingly zany". His open training sessions during some friendlies, or at tournaments like the the Cup of Harmony or WCQ, reveal some -- but not the full extent of his preparations. He stands on the touchline, barking the same orders over and over until they are followed perfectly. "Retreat! Retreat now!" he barks at his wingbacks during one exercise. "You have less than seven seconds to return or they will pierce the gap!" His barking continues. "Release immediately! No hesitation! No delay! Control, release, move! Control, release, move!" His players are practicing to execute his commands with such speed and efficiency, they appear almost instinctive. The level is intense. He shuffles things around. Rotates players. Alters the tempo. Introduces more rules. Removes rules. The withdrawal, surveying and tinkering process repeats itself several times over before he appears satisfied. "Excellent! This is how we go! This is how we win!" He finally bestows some praise upon his players.

Abraham Terrazas 17 Y/O, Goalkeeper of Izotz Zubia (AUD)

Maybe the youngest keeper on the history of the National Team, Terrazas was even more young when he left to the Audioslavian powerhouse Izotz Zubia, though his youngness was a limitant to be on the starting XI, he taked advantage of any chance he had to demonstrate his best level of game, through the time, Terrazas has been climbing to the top in his club, after some time, he is fighting for a spot on the starting XI and he has more action on it, Terrazas is probably the new promise of the Guayabalense football under the three posts.

James Moreira 19 Y/O, Left Defender of Canterlot Royals (EQS)

Young but experienced, Moreira is the typical player who can receive love or hate, his special location in the roster mades him a key player in terms related to defending, being the sweeper but also being one of the creators of the game, despite falling in nerves sometimes the youngest of their football dynasty family as the Moreiras are, his good leadership and attitude makes him being an excellent player in the team.

Mattías Passarelli 25 Y/O, Central Defender of Delare Minon (YTT)

The oldest of the defenders in the Starting XI and also the one with more experience in the team, Mattías played in the NT since they were an almost amateur-ish side, he played in Alianza FC and achieved three titles, enough to do his move to the Yttribian powerhouse of Delare Minon, when he got another three league tournaments including one solid run in the UICA Globe Cup made him a worship idol for the fans of the team, he doesn't plans to move of the team, because he feels the love of the fans.

Meyson Salume 18 Y/O, Right Defender of East Franz Athletic (PIS)

The reliable Salume is back, after being injured for some matches, the strongest player of the teams is now in action to keep the order in the defence, his role is defend but he does the task of midfielder quite often, his strong point of being tall makes him an ideal player to keep the National Team without many troubles, but his slow speed can make some trouble over there, and can do more due to his motivaion caused due to his arrival to Polarian lands

Rudy Valencia 23 Y/O, Midfielder (Destroyer) of Oakstone (EUR)

Mark de Man:Mark is a strong center back. Strength is his greatest attribute. Combined with his short, stocky build, he can prove very difficult to fight off. Sometimes this can be dangerous for the younger, inexperienced players.

Fil Gones:Fil is one of the most intelligent defenders in Walkany. He is capable of reading movements before they happen, giving him time to compensate for faster paced players. He is not one of the most physically fit players, though his height gives him an advantage in the air.

Pep Pep Guardiola:Pep Pep or known to his teammates as Bergmann (mountain man), is mostly known for his massive beard and long black hair. He is considered one of the best full backs in the nation. Bergmann's speed combined with his intimidation makes him one of the most daunting defenders to play against.

Luke Poloski:Poloski has it all. Speed, strength, skill, and looks. His only downfall is his over estimation of his abilities against stronger opponents, causing many mistakes during games. He becomes angry quickly when fouled or having a foul called on him, but makes up for it. He knows, even though he does not show it, that he can be better. It takes a good talking to from the referee or coach, but he can straighten up and be one of the best.

Ray Haywood:The younger brother to Michael Haywood, he followed in his brother's footsteps to becoming a top selection for the national team. He has often been accused of being lazy. This is true in some aspect. Ray was on top of his game until Walkany City gained more than a one goal lead. He becomes lazy when the team is doing well, causing mistakes in the defensive line. His eye for figuring out another team's tactics early on is invaluable to the coaches and players.

Oliver Gourde:Oliver's cool head and firm leadership makes him one of the best choices for the national team. His defensive capabilities are the only skill he has though. He is attacking savvy during corners and free kicks, but lacks prowess during open play.

Bane Vayder:The 6'6" defender is known as one of the most intimidating players on Shells FC. His dark, brooding attitude and his giant muscular fixture causes some Liga players to lose the ball rather than challenge him for it. Bane's only fault is that despite his great defensive capability, he will foul players often and intentionally.

Elwood Sebastiani:As one of the first players to play outside of Walkany, "Elly" has done considerably well. He plays for the Zlatan Landish team Northern Knights, which has won almost every league game this past season thanks to him. As a defender and club captain, Elly brought the Knight's defense to be the best. It is no wonder that he was called up to the national team.

Lucas Shawn:Lucas is a young, but extraordinary player. He is equally experienced in both attacking and defending. His only fault is that he cannot win air balls. He is only 5'9", with little jump height. Shawn's personality is a bit of a joker. He is like the jester of the team, always playing good hearted jokes on his teammates.

David Lucius:Tall and lanky, David is the second tallest player on the team at 6'5". Combined with his height is his dribbling ability. He often makes loping runs forwards, opening up space in and around the box. Though he is usually very calm, expect him to tease the other team during games.

Xander Xavi:Xander is almost an exact copy of his lifelong friend and Baptism of Fire teammate, Andre Inestia. He is an even better playmaker and has an amazing finishing ability. His loyalty is also placed heavily in Leones Cleen. He tries to be more sociable with other teammates, much to the dismay of Andre.

Clint Daniels:Clint is a quiet, lead by example assistant captain. He is generally liked by the team for his hard work ethic. Daniels is not specifically skilled in one area or another, but is the perfect man for the job when it comes to clutch moments. He is strong, with a good, but not particularly, fast speed. In the second to last league game, Clint was involved in an altercation with Oldcastle that saw two of his compatriots sent off and the captain himself seeing a yellow. Later in the match he had another quarrel with the referee that caused the man in charge to give Daniels a second yellow. There was a lot of controversy when he was called up to the national team.

Tony Baumann:He is another player of the Northern Knights and has made his name known there. After a first successful season with eight assists plus two goals, the Walkany fans were clamoring for him to be called up. Unsurprisingly, O'nielle had already called him up. His eye for through balls makes him very valuable in the Gator's four-three-three set up.

Kegan St. Martin:A third player to play out of country, but he plays for the Zlatan Landish team the New Stockarm Ghosts. With twelve goals and fourteen assists, it is easy to see why he was selected as a national team player. Many people think his heavier than normal weight slows him down, when in reality Kegan is one of the fastest players in Zlatan Land.

Chris Rolonda:Chris is tall(6'1"), dark, and handsome. He is the most athletic player in Walkany. Chris' speed is unmatched and his strength rivals Mark de Man's. On top of all of this, he is an excellent free kick taker, finisher, and dribbler. Rolonda's only fault is his short temper. He is regularly known for arguing with the referee and talking 'smack' to the opposing teams.

Leones Cleen:Leones is short, but skilled. He frequently embarrasses defenders with his dribbling technique and shames goal keepers with his finishing ability. Cleen also specializes in free kicks. After several years of mentoring and maturation, Leo has gained some in dependancy and does not require assistance from his friends Xavi and Inestia.

Alex Sorrel:With a delightful personality, Sorrel has some of the best sportsmanship on the team. His eye for playmaking, especially with air balls, makes him invaluable. He repeatedly fakes out defenders, using body language as his weapon. His stocky build makes him perfect for running at strong defenders. Sorrel trains very hard every day. He is 100% at the beginning of each competition, but eventually becomes tired and he has trouble performing at his usual standards.

Eddy Haphazard:Eddy is the captain of the team for good reason. He knows how to treat everyone and can keep a cool head when times get tough. He is skilled in every part of the game, but finding a man in the box is what he specializes in. Eddy is often seems the target of fouls by opposing teams, probably due to his determination to never give up. The only thing coaches disagree with is his conviction to always keep attacking.

Harve Ferro:A short, but ecstatic young man, Ferro is one of the best attackers for Shells FC. He is a very aggressive player and loves to defend as well as attack. His teammates are fond of his enthusiasm and they can always expect him to be the first player at practice.

Dennis Wegner:He is the embodiment of what teens think it means to be cool. Denny wears the latest styles, keeps up with the latest trends, has several successful rap albums, and is a professional athlete. His attitude towards his teammates could improve, but his dedication to being the best is unmatched.

Flardania National Football Team also known as the Kitsunes are Flardania's best soccer players. Football is the national sport of Flardania and the Kitsunes help showcase the KONAMI Premier League . After years of playing domestic play and tragically missing BOF 56 and BOF 57. Flardania entered the NS World Fair: A Christmas Truce and finish a close second in the Group stages after mounting a comeback. Flardania would later enter Baptism of Fire 58 and after just barely exiting the Group stage, Flardania as the bottom #16 Seed upset #1 Seed San Llera and defeated Maretta to reach the semi-finals. The Kitsunes unfortunately finished fourth and bitter fans refer to the top 3 teams as the "Puppet Show". Flardania expectations were much smaller going into the WC 71 and look to at least qualify for the main cup. The Kitsunes looked like they were contenders early on but struggled as they were in a really difficult Group mixed with Flardania playing too balanced a game against the high powered offense while lacking enough offense to dismantle defensive disciplined teams. Flardania would have a mediocre showing in the Cup of Harmony with the only notable news being the historic upset against Cosumar. The Kitsunes look to turn the passion of the sport into wins and gain international respect after always being predicted to lose. Mangaer Hikaru Kyosuke has completely revamped the roster this year and gone with a 4-3-3 instead of his 4-3-2-1. The Kitsunes are still led by beloved athlete Joseph Yabuta of the Kairaku Nymphs soccer club as Striker. It is former starting Rodrigue Gardinier has been placed on reserved in favor of Miyoko Houjyou a fmr Chinese Cuisine chef with excellent leaping abilities and reflexes who has lead Olympique Imgeum-si to a shocking miracle season. Yabuta and Papadopoulos are the only returning starters.

1) Location
Flardania is an archipelago in the Asian-Pacific Ocean. To get to Kairaku or Megalo Mesembria for qualifiers one would take a plane to Nia Tepplin Memorial International Airport or Marquis De Lafayette International Airport respectfully.

2) Language & Comunication
Flardania is a bilingual nation, with the citizenry knowing both Japanese and French. There is many who speak Ostian and English, with significant Mandarin and Korean speaking population. Need more help? There are translators available at every information center in every major city.

3) Religion
Flardania has 90% of it's people following the Lake Shore Order, with 5% being Catholic(With no other christian important christian sects. With the other 5% consisting of Buddhism, Shinto, and Islam.

Viktorian National Roster

Coming out from under a harsh dictatorship the freshly awoken nation of Viktoria had made solid efforts to develop a team for the upcoming World Cup 72. The best scouts that could be found were sent to find the best football players that could be found on the small, newly democratic island nation. After a hasty 2 month search period and discreet wage meetings the young team was born. Another search was put together for a head coach for the team, although the search was only 2 days as Mathieu Bets was chosen for the task. Mathieu Bets is a relatively unknown name in the world of football but has every intent of pushing the team. Not necessarily how you might think, though. This is his official statement:

The Polkopian Football Association is a relatively new organization which serves as the governing body for the Polkopian Premier League, as well as the Polkopian National Team itself. All players who were called up for the World Cup currently play in the Polkopian Premier League, making Polkopia one of the only nations competing whose players all compete in the same league.

The "Hanisov Stadiona", or Hanisov Stadium, is the home stadium for the Polkopian National Football Team. Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the loudest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. He started his career as coach with a local team and fought his way up to the major domestic league of Kandorith. He has shown to be calm and understanding. Now he makes a return in the coaching staff of the Dragons, as the assistant coach to Yúan Genshí, who spoke utterly confident about Huangzhou's abilities. Huangzhou took over the Kandorese coaching responsibility during World Cup 72, when Xí-tiang was unable to further fulfill his duties and was blamed for the bad performance of the Kandorese team. Huangzhou Yu, after receiving the green light from the Emperor himself, can name himself the youngest coach of the Kandorese national football team ever.

Passer, runner and assists; JieJie, another star from Nagato Goya. He has made his debute 3 years ago and has shown many coaches he is the man for the midfield passing and chance creating. With tactical insight and almost unmatchable running speed he is the winger and the attacking midfielder.

Taiji Moto (Captain)

The Captain, El Commandante, and the elder; Taiji Moto the captain of the Kandorese National Team and the Captain of Nagato Goya. Experienced, ferocious and quick. He plays mostly defensive but when he sees a goal scoring opportunity or the chance for an assist he won't hold back. He is one of the links of the chain,to keep that ball passing and keep possession, while steering the team towards a goal.

Ximin Chosi Kansuo Je-Han

Length: 177CM
Ximin, an ambitious young player from Yingshua Sabers, one of the lesser known teams of the Kandorese Imperial League; but equally dangerous as the bigger names, mostly because of this player. He is an excellent runner, passer and crosser; always looking for a hole in the defence to press the ball towards the striker, he does not often score; but when he does, it's a ranged effort with extreme finesse.

Shan is a true sideline winger and midfielder. He awaits any chance on the wings and answers those with quick runs forward and crosses into the box. His passing and crossing accuracy is deadly, especially in deadlocked or important matches. He has been the star of his team Quiatoa Shinsen for many years now.

Madato is the star striker of Qing Shinsen, a lesser known and mid table club from the Kandorese domestic league. After Xí-tiang took the national team under his wings, Madato has been proving himself to the coach over and over. Now instead of starting on the bench, this young player has the ability to prove why he should be at least as frequently in the starting eleven as Méng is.

The current star of Kandorese football. This youngster has made his name as goal cannon, never passing the oppertunity to score and when he does see the chance; the ball flies in like a guided projectile. Also agile and a real dribbler, he loves to run circles around the defence and rocket the ball into a tight corner. Méng is accurate, calm and controlled, which made him the current top scorer of the Kandorese league.

FOOTBALL HISTORY

The football history of Buyan starts about half a century ago, when a couple of Esportivan communist exchange students decide to kick a ball around on a field not too far away from Vannarby. The game quickly spread across the islands which constitute Buyan and currently, football is tilting the crown as the most popular sport in the archipelago. With time, a nationwide professional Top Division has developed which has grown into a top-ten competition within less than a decade. With sides like former Globe Cup winner Viztourzys Kolektyvinis, reigning champion Blau-Weiss Pallstadt and perpetual giant Bengtsmark IF, it has a few internationally respected club sides that either have national titles of President’s Cups on their mantle. The national football pyramid, with 56 teams and still up for expansion is only the pinnacle of a popularity which mainly relies on the local teams and competitions. Only in a few pockets in the eastern part of Buyan, rugby and basket can endanger its number one position.

Before our international wake, Buyanese football was usually noted by powerful midfield play, with a lot of forward focus transcended in one man: a team was often defined by its type of attacking midfielder and the position was probably a bit overrated. Navickas and Cedar, by example, previously grew into the posterboys of their time that way. These days, the man around which Buyanese football revolves is Sverre Devold, although Piotr Kluszak might hold that position in the domestic Top Division. These stars of the new generations, however, demonstrated that the danger doesn't have to come from one person only and the ability from Viztourzys - and more recently Bengtsmark, Blau-Weiss and Jottnar - to deal with this new football reality have allowed them to grow to the highest level. The fact that Sirius Hope, the Paradystopian first and previous national team manager, held on to the same opinion has certainly helped to popularize the idea.

The old traditions were stamped out with a renewed midfield where the wings can produce a lot of danger as well, but with a larger focus on the defending as a whole. It used to be a typical vision in Buyan to see attacking players stay forward when the opposing team launches an attack, causing a lot of pressure and goals, but the national side doesn’t show so. A sturdy defence with a double lock on the door was the recipe which brought Buyan a Baptism of Fire and a World Cup debut, but after 88 international games, the reign of Hope stranded on a goalless draw against Kernansquillec in the WC 69 campaign. His successor, Nepharim Reinhard Shale gave the Blue Hedgehogs a whole new appearance. With his characteristic 4-4-2 diamond, Buyan not only qualified for their second World Cup – only to strand in the round of sixteen to the Polar Islandstates – but got a marvellous international title in the Campionato Esportiva. Buyan broke another glass ceiling and entered qualification for the first time as first seed but the result was a major deception. Shale failed to keep the train on the rails and when Apoxian Chris Maarsden took over, the damage was already done. Buyan misses the World Cup 71 and made a good showing at the Cup of Harmony, despite an elimination in the quarterfinals. The CE XIII made things only more glorious as Chris Maarsden upheld his unbeaten record – 20 games and counting so far – and took home Esportiva’s most glorious trophy for the second time in a row. Ambitions? High.

Buyan has come a long way since their debut interland, a poor 3-0 loss against Dandillis. Their first CE saw proper performances, but the Hedgehogs only got the taste of winning in their Baptism of Fire. Without dominating, they amassed the victories. After beating Kitsunia-Deesse and Dutciberg, they faced The Sarian in a final thriller. After one hundred twenty scoreless minutes, penalties had to decide upon a victor and the steel nerves from the Buyanese came out on top. The tournament marked Zemaitis, Havelund, Tufte and not in the least Sverre Devold as international players and lay the foundation of a respectable yet unsuccessful World Cup campaign.

Despite organising the next Campionato, it didn’t saw a real breakthrough of Buyan and the Beltane Cup ended in deception when Yttribia got the best of us, leaving us with bronze. But the World Cup qualifiers were exceptional, playing eighteen games back-to-back without a single loss. Taking the scalps of United Gordonopia, Thatius and the Equestrian States, Buyan surprisingly qualified for the World Cup 68 proper. After losses against Legalese and Osarius, Buyan grabbed three sweet points after a much contested duel against Rüntenbach, seeing Manuel Schmidt as a hero.

Their third campaign of international football has resolved in mixed results. Due to internal issues, a homegrown side had to contest the CE and the Beltane Cup. The CE ended faster than hoped, as Apox cut short the road to the quarterfinals, but the Beltane resulted in the second trophy in the cabinet, as we once again showed more cool on penalties against Greater Watford. The expectations were high: a second World Cup qualification was a must but that did not work out at all, resulting in Sirius Hope getting the boot. A good final sprint with a draw against Audioslavia nor a second round in the Cup of Harmony did not really resolve the question marks.

The moderate spell continued as the CE XI was no success by any standard, but with a new cycle starting, Shale wanted to bring the national team to a new level. The silver from the Beltane Cup already lifted the spirits and the result was a stellar campaign in which the Hedgehogs surprisingly managed to overcome a strong opponent such as Turori and qualified one match ahead of the end of the qualifiers. Their second World Cup became a success as after a loss against Pasarga, Buyan was the better of Runtenbach and San Jose Guayabal with Devold as their key player. Eventually, they lost out to Polar Islandstates and Kolehmainen in the Round of 16, but that can’t be considered a shame.

Last cycle, already their fifth in international football, started quite exceptional with a surprising victory in the Campionato Esportiva. With a clean run, they overcame Hicana and Nephara before taking out organising nation Apox in a penalty thriller. Ulle Seber stopped the leather twice and Rettinger scored the crucial kick. With this in mind, only qualification to the World Cup in Yttribia and Felix was an option but the Hedgehogs lost too many points along the road. A draw against Matthewsiania after losses against the Equestrian States and Kandorith cost the head of Reinhard Shale. His replacement Chris Maarsden dropped only two points – but due to a three-way tie Buyan didn’t even make the play-offs. The Cup of Harmony saw a similar route, going without a loss but an early elimination by Valanora.

Steponas is used to living success on the bench. In the early days of the Golden Period for Viztourzys, he was the back-up goalie for Manuel Schmidt. After stopping his active career at the honourable age of 41 – with a few Kolektyvinis trophies in the bag and playing minutes in the last match of the 2018 title season as heights – he joined the BFB. Initially as youth scout, later on as U17 and U21 manager. Some whisper that his presence is a prelude to taking over one day, but for now he’s just a good goalkeeper coach.

Before saying goodbye to club football, Kossakovsky was known as a free kick hero and captain over at SK Sturm Nuuk. When his time at the Anchors ended, he was picked up by the Lads. During his years over at Wye United, having an indian summer at the midfield, the connection with his coach Chris Maarsden grew, so when the Apoxian took the job at Buyan – he joined the flight. He’s a reliable fellow and a warm contact for the players.

First there was Sirius Hope. The Paradystopian brought the Baptism of Fire trophy to Buyan and qualified us for a first World Cup. Then it was Reinhard Shale who led the troops – and in style as can be judged by the Campionato Esportiva on the mantle and the round of 16 in the WC70 in mind. On the plus side, he has a few things in accordance with his predecessors. He’s still young, aged 40, and his active career had been cut short by an ACL injury in a friendly against the Polar Islandstates. Like Shale, he brought in silverware as club coach with Wye United, whom he turned from second tier players into a UICA challenger and Marshall Cup winners.

Furthermore, Maarsden has an extensive career behind him on the pitch. Still number three on the all-time top scorers list and the first player to hit the net a hundred times in the ANL, Chris Maarsden is an Apoxian legend. His favoured formations are either a 4-1-3-2 or a 4-4-1-1, in both situations having pacy wingers who can bring the ball up the pitch and either cross it into the strikers or attempt to dribble it into the box, with the strikers tending to be the tall, target man types. He liked to play the a deep lying centre midfielder/defensive midfielder, to anchor the team down and distribute balls from around the half way line as well as being an extra line of defence. What will be crucial is his capacity to keep everyone satisfied – and with a slightly frustrating Cup of Harmony behind them, this Campionato sets the bar quite high.

After sporting regular blues for the Campionato Esportiva VIII, Buyan addressed Vulpine Sportif who provided them with beautiful kits, both in a blue edition for the home side and red ones for the away games. But time flies and the BFB rightfully decided that it was time for an update.

The result is the above marvellous shirts, kindfully provided by AER Sportswear. This modern touch certainly has added to our flair. We’ll wear these excellent shirts with pride, added with red shorts and socks. The goalie takes the field in an all white outfit.

It's big, it's build on an unpractical location and if we believe the contractor, it's build on a swamp.
But it's also state of the art and featured some games in the Campionato Esportiva IX, hence the name.

STYLE & TACTICS

Some will whisper that we’re returning back to the past with Chris Maarsden as the Nepharim narrow diamond 4-4-2 gets swapped again for a single striker. Then again, this is not the 4-2-3-1 Sirius Hope cultivated. With the deep-lying Sverre Devold as playmaker, this could be some sort of 4-1-4-1. Or maybe it is a 4-2-3-1, but with active wings. We’re not yet entirely sure of it, but it looks pretty balanced.

On goal, it will be Jan Erhardt who will wear the gloves. No major surprise to those of you who catch his performances at Blau-Weiss, but he never got a real chance from Reinhard Shale. His stint so far was not exceptional, but he still has better cards than his back-ups, Saldlund who never brings the same for the Hedgehogs as for his domestic side, the young Marciak or the unnoticed yet gifted Ralaanen.

The backline seldom sports surprises during the last few years. Zemaitis’ name is carved in stone on the left-back position – although it is slightly remarkable that Raestad replaces Dziuba as back-up, the latter having been less this season. The middle duo goes by the names Giertych – Tufte, with the latter one being more experienced but due to his temper and the raw talent of Rafal Giertych, it’s the Jottnar defender who is considered the rock in front of the goalie. Grobanov and Bortkiewicz should provide back-ups - but only poorly. On the right, Giedius Justs finally seems to get past Smetona as starting player yet the man from Liberty Rodriguez still forms an alternative when a more attacking man is needed.

The retirement of Quinten Zermin on the six is still felt, but Wladecki tries to put his game to the next level and live up. With the silent yet remarkable Venclova going past him, he’ll have to do better than during the last cycle. Sverre Devold discovers a new role for himself and didn’t act too shabby during the big games. Well aware that his speed is falling yet his vision sharp, it might turn out to be a golden move by Maarsden.

In midfield, the Apoxian manager shows his interest for pacy wingers with the duo Prinsen – Castell. One is the hot stuff from Pajukas Sport with majestic dribbles, the other has been on the national team for a decade, a favourite and reliable stand-in for guys who have less lungs than him. Ullsmang is a similar type as back-up, Lammerschon is more a working horse, Plovnarov and all-rounder. The surprising CAM is Espen Knutsen. His great skills over at the Nepharim Premiership gets appreciated, he’s not a typical number ten and often operates from the right side, but knows where the goal is and has keen vision. Young Stepaniak fills the midfield roster.

Last but not least, there is the striker position. A vital one in this system. So far, it seems that Duco Dalmshelf will take that spot as the guy with the highest production of all time. But is he enough target man to deal with it? Either way, back-ups are available. Not in the least Knut Dahle, at age twenty-one already a prolific scorer and a great talent. A storm in front of the mouth and a gentleman off the pitch. The more experienced Balnerii and Rettinger form other options next to the young poacher Pajari and supersub Sil Moen makes the attacking system flexible – he’s both an attacker and a midfielder, a winger and a striker, a lover and a hater.

Madesene National Football Team

This roster will present the players chosen from the clubs from the first season of the Madesene Premier League, as well as the team's formation, tactics, style of play, and a brief description of the Ndakene WA Mission of Madesu.

About Madesu

Madesu is a very developed African nation that is a Ndakene protectorate that is very active in the World Assembly. Even though Madesu is a protectorate nation of Ndaku it tends to be viewed as an independent nation in many aspects by many. Madesu is run by the Ndakene Parliament and the Madesene Central Committee, where the Ndakene Parliament sets forth liberal, libertarian, capitalistic policies mixing in with the Central Committee's communistic/socialist policies to form a very unique and truly "capital-socialist" ideological mixture.

Weather in Madesu ranges between 60°F (15.5°C) and 100°F (37°C) on average annually, making weather very pleasant for all sorts of outdoor activity. Madesu has 2 seasons all year as well; from January until June is usually the rainy season, then from July to December is the dry season. Surely, during the world cup cycle, it will be the dry season, meaning home games will most likely have a mixture of clear and overcast skies with frequent heatwaves throughout the cycle.

Madesu is an extremely multi-ethnic, devout nation, as well as its master nation Ndaku. Languages spoken are Portuguese, English, French, Lingala, Swahili, and other various minor dialects. French and English tend to share the same commonality to make up Madesu's national language. Both languages are considered national languages not only because it is commonly spoken, but it is the primary language used in Madesu's public facilities, schools, and roads. Both languages are spoken formally; the more casual language spoken popularly is Lingala.

The primary broadcasting station will be NSHQ (National Sports Headquarters). With the advanced and high-tech support from MBM (Madesene Business Machines) NSHQ will be able to analyze primarily Madesu's matches, as well as other matches.

About the Madesene team

Each player in the team was drafted or promoted onto the national team after the completion of the first season of the Madesene Premier League (MPL). In the MPL at the end of each season the top 3 clubs will have their players promoted onto the national team. Not all players of the top clubs are going to be drafted, however. Even though some players are not going to be drafted onto the national team it is still an honor to have been a part of a top 3 club.

Even though the national team is mixed with players from the top 3 clubs and the rivalry that has developed between the clubs players on the team play as Madesenes instead of their individual clubs. As a team the players strive to master communication and efficiency on the field and give it their all. The Madesene team tends to be a very dynamic and attacking team. The midfielders' roles in the Madesene team is to support the attackers frequently and basically take control of their territory as much as possible. The team emphasizes on avoiding long passes and shots to avoid early fatigue during matches, which makes efficiency pretty much the team's primary objective. Shorter but smarter passes and shots are key.

The team during the Baptism of Fire demonstrated astounding stamina, momentum, efficiency, and passion as a whole, where every game they played they ensured and were determined to walk out of the field with a goal; if not, goals. From the beginning of the Baptism of Fire the team subbed out attacker Walter Kevinson with Rosaire Richelieu, one of the country's favorite attackers since the first season of the Madesene Premier League. Their determination and discipline was able to place them in the quarterfinals of the tournament, so far the national record. The team hopes for the very best during the world cup as they will take on the world's most elite and toughest football teams.

The national stadium is located in the capital of Lumumbaville which was the very first football stadium to ever be built in Madesu, making it a historical landmark in Madesene history. It serves as the home stadium for the team. The stadium holds roughly 54,000 attendees.

Marco Valbuena is a classic example of starting from the bottom and working their way up. He was Aalemark Sport from U10 to U16, before signing his scholarship at Adjurgen, before completing it at Krsthaven, who signed him after some impressive displays. He then shone at the Di Bradini Cup and signed for FC Chippenham in the Sarian, where he has now become their regular goalkeeper and now is the first choice for the national team. Impressive displays in the previous World Cup qualification campaign saw manager Andreas Jansen decide to give him the Number 1 shirt after the retirement of Andreas Mikkelsen. But Valbuena must beware, as there is a long line of goalkeepers snapping at his heels.

#2 – DR – Eirik Malsen – Age 35 – Molsbik Arkjet – 127 caps, 4 goals
Another player to break the 100-caps barrier, all managers that have had Malsen in their team agree that he is one of Semarland’s best ever right-backs in history. He is the perfect right-back, not too attacking, not too defensive. At 35 he still has a decent amount of pace and he is a brilliant tackler. Starting off at Eikborg Club, he moved to Molsbik Arkjet at 22 for a bargain £3,000,000. Ever since then he has been starting choice and is currently the captain of the club. And when he broke into the national team, his coaches and peers alike knew he was the perfect player for the role. However, Malsen confirmed after AOCAF 47 that he will retire from international football following the end of the World Cup, and he will be hoping to help Semarland to a good start in Group A.

#3 – DL – Matur Eiriksson – Age 25 – Marlborough City (TSA) – 86 caps, 5 goals
At 25 years of age, it’s remarkable to have over 70 caps for your country. With at least 7 or so years ahead of you, Matur Eiriksson could well break the 150 mark. A speedy, attacking left back, Eiriksson’s renowned pace saw him move to Marlborough City of The Sarian a few years, where he has been a hit since. A product of the famous FC Jansberg academy, Eiriksson broke into the first team at just 16 years of age, and became a regular starter at just 17. Capable of playing at centre-back, Eiriksson’s major weakness is his temper. Tenacious, he is prone to losing his temper sometimes and the hot-headed full back has been sent off a few times for club and country.

#4 – DMC – Yacouba Sakho – Age 28 – CD Barrio El Nino (SJG) – 33 caps, 1 goal
Yacouba Sakho is a battling, tough, gritty, defensive midfielder. Younger cousin of ex-NT left-back Marcel Sakho, Yacouba is a graduate from Krsthaven’s academy and spent time on an overseas loan in Canacia, before moving to the exotic San Jose Guayabal where he currently plays for side CD Barrio El Nino. He will never give up, something that the team values, and will fight to the end, no matter what the cost. His tenacious displays saw him scouted for Krsthaven at the age of six, and after signing his first professional contract at Krsthaven he was loaned out for two years to Canacia, before breaking into the first team, and then signing for CD Barrio El Nino. Relatively new to the national side, he was a few more years in him and will make every one count. Unfortunately missed the majority of qualifying but has still been given the nod by Jansen.

#5 – DC – Jakob Lunds – Age 27 – Exton FC (APX) – 77 caps, 3 goals
Six years ago, Jakob Lunds was a relatively unknown centre-back whose performances for Fransborg set Njilkaer earned him a callup into Semarland’s first ever World Cup squad. Released by FC Jansberg upon the expiry of his U13-U14 contract, Lunds signed for Fransborg set Njilkaer and progressed through the academy into a first team regular. Impressive performances followed, then came the national team call, and now he is arguably one of Semarland’s greatest centre-backs, a sensation for Apoxian side Exton and touted as a potential future national team captain. Nearly 80 caps followed since that World Cup, and Lunds hasn’t looked back since.

#6 – DC – Matthias Karbruck – Age 33 – FC Jansberg – 85 caps, 1 goal
Strong, tough and gritty, Matthias Karbruck is one of the most feared centre-backs in Semarland. Relatively unknown at first at many clubs, until he signed for Krsthaven aged 26. He started off as a right-back, and played for Laastne Sportsklub, Adjurgen and Molsbik Kadet before switching to centre-back at Yeyjkyavik, then signing for Krsthaven. Karbruck is an excellent centre-back, and has a great tackle and a superb header. His impressive displays saw him sign abroad for Polar Islandstates team Koppen Rig Force, but has recently just returned back to his native country to play for FC Jansberg. Getting on a bit at 33 now, there is a chance he’ll retire sooner or later, but despite his age Karbruck is still a strong centre-back.

#7 – ML – Abel Nkutu – Age 27 – FC Kolberg – 24 caps, 2 goals
Surprisingly not included for recent World Cup squads, Abel Nkutu has now got his chance to prove himself. A silky playmaker or winger with a classy touch, Nkutu started at FC Kolberg where he impressed before signing for then league champions FC Jansberg. A regular in their side for a few years, he recently returned to FC Kolberg alongside his younger brother Jonah, who signed from Krsthaven. A member of a large footballing family, all five Nkutu siblings play for FC Kolberg. The other four that make up Abel’s younger brothers are striker Carmelo, goalkeeper Jonah, and twin centre-backs Isaac and Serge who play in the U16 side.

#8 – MC – Demba Cisse – Age 27 – FC Nuholm – 84 caps, 21 goals
Burst onto the national team scene in the Baptism of Fire, Demba Cisse wowed then-manager Henrik Jensen with his skilful displays, endless running and creativity. Able to play on the wing, in attacking midfield where he plays best or just in central midfield, Cisse is a key part of the side. Since the Baptism of Fire, he has won 68 caps and scored 19 times, and has got many assists. He has played for FC Nuholm all his life, rejecting moves from big clubs such as FC Jansberg and Krsthaven, and recently led them to their best-ever finish in the Premarligaen at fourth place.

#9 – ST – Jakob Lindesfarne - Age 26 – Krsthaven – 15 caps, 12 goals
With the retirement of Jakob Larsen leaving a space for Marc Lygaard’s new strike partner, Jansen has called upon Krsthaven striker Jakob Lindesfarne to fill the role. Lindesfarne appeared in the most recent AOCAF, scoring two goals in four games, and his impressive goals for Krsthaven (over 30 last season) shows why he deserves a callup. Despite playing for different clubs, at the AOCAF he seemed almost telepathic with Lygaard, which could prove vital in Semarland’s qualification campaign. Having started off for Knaben Town in non-league football, he signed for Arkrau Klub for £300,000 before recently moving to Krsthaven a few seasons ago in a big money deal, where has been an instant hit there. Was highly prolific in qualifying, scoring 10 times in 11 games.

#10 – ST – Marc Lygaard – Age 34 – FC Jansberg – 199 caps, 126 goals
One appearance off the 200 cap mark, 34 year old Marc Lygaard is the national hero of Semarland. The national team’s highest ever scorer with an absolutely remarkable 114 goals, Lygaard has led Semarland through thick and thin, despite never qualifying for the finals of the World Cup. Despite that, Lygaard still has the chance to do so. A graduate of FC Jansberg’s academy, he was in the earliest development centre intake and has worked all his way through the centre to the actual academy to the first team, making his debut at just 16 years and four months. He is the highest scorer for his club as well, making him a hero for club and country. Set to make his 200th national appearance on the opening matchday.

#11 – MR – Diego Snow – Age 24 – Krsthaven – 26 caps, 2 goals
A flairy, versatile young winger with plenty of tricks and skills up his sleeve, Diego Snow is one of many fine talents to graduate from Krsthaven’s academy. Picked for the last World Cup alongside fellow graduates Marcel Labonne and Blaise N’Zonzi, Snow has gone onto make 15 appearances, scoring once, for the national team. Taking the place of the sometimes injured Tipio Runen, it is now Snow’s chance to prove to Jansen why he should have the starting berth over his counterpart. If he does so, he’s got a good future ahead of him, with him able to participate in many tournaments seeing as he’s only 24.

#12 – GK – Blaise N’Zonzi – Age 24 – Utica United (OSR) – 12 caps
One of many players that can easily join the ranks of the next generation of new promising young Semar goalkeepers. Able to provide fierce competition with Marco Valbuena, unsurprisingly, N’Zonzi is a Krsthaven academy graduate. Despite being offered the chance of regular, first-team football, he decide to move to Osarius to join LigAnaia side Utica United, where he has made a good impression on his peers and fans alike. Capable of making acrobatic saves and athletic dives, N’Zonzi is a good competitor with Valbuena for the starting spot. His displays in Osarius impressed Jansen no end, and that’s why he is here now in the national team.

#13 – DC – Soren Pedersen – Age 29 – Wrexton FC (APX) – 32 caps, 1 goal
Naturally a calm, composed defender, he is the polar opposite in terms of his uncle and national team defensive coach Johannes. Soren Pedersen graduated through the Sporting Saint Adrensburg academy, but was released after his first professional contract expired. Then, he signed for Lusenhagen, helping them gain promotion and eventually earning a move to Wrexton FC of Apox, where he has been solid ever since. His partnership with Jakob Lunds in the Cup of Harmony and AOCAF is probably one of the best, as Pedersen looks to complete with Matthias Karbruck for the second centre-back spot.

#14 – MC – Marcel Labonne – Age 24 – Krsthaven – 20 caps, 2 goals
Solid, central midfielder Marcel Labonne like club teammate Diego Snow is another graduate of Krsthaven’s academy. Solid in the centre of the mark, Labonne is capable of making key passes, darting runs, crunching tackles and directing play. Tipped to be Semarland’s next “midfield general”, his upcoming partnership with Tunji Tunde this world cup is definitely going to be one to watch. Impressive performances for Krsthaven has attracted the attention of some “major foreign clubs”, and Krsthaven are determined to fight to keep in him North Semarland. Until then, he is set to boss the midfield this World Cup.

#15 – AMC – Marc Strand – Age 19 – FC Jansberg – 7 caps, 4 goals
The next “golden boy” is finally here. The second notable Marc to graduate from FC Jansberg’s academy, Marc Strand is tipped to potentially be one of Semarland’s greatest ever players. A silky playmaker, Strand, at just 19, has already become a regular for the Jansberg first team as his amazing passes, fancy dribbles and long runs saw him named Semar Young Player of the Year for the second season running. He can naturally link up with other players, and currently holds the records for the most assists at FC Jansberg from U14 to U21 level.

#16 – MR – Tipio Runen – Age 26 – Eikborg Club – 56 caps, 5 goals
Knee problems are always annoying, especially in the case of Tipio Runen. Once touted as a future great of Semarland, knee issues have prevented him from being a regular on the wing, at least for a national team. Utilised as a striker for his club, where he has scored many goals, he has never got the real opportunity to play up front nationally. He has always played on the wing, where his impressive runs, great crossing and good assists tally have kept him there, but he has openly stated he wants to play as a striker. Now 26 years old, it is now or never for him to get the place he really wants.

#17 - ST - Amos Nkuna-Ybangwa - Age 22 - Adjurgen - 5 caps, 2 goals
Young striker who was Adjurgen’s top scorer for the past couple of seasons despite his age. Performed very well for the U21s in recent Di Bradini tournaments, now deemed ready by Andreas Jansen to showcase his talent on the big stage of the World Cup. Scored twice in four qualifying appearances including against Helmon and Eura. Jansen was quite impressed by his darting runs and strong attacking play plus his physical presence, and has decided to allocate him a spot in the final 23 which he deserved.

#18 – ST – Yannick Simeone – Age 23 – Molsbik Arkjet – 42 caps, 12 goals
A tall striker, Yannick Simeone is another bright light in the Semar future. Unfortunately plagued by a recent ankle injury that saw him miss the most recent AOCAF, he has seemed to have shrugged that off now and is ready and raring to go this World Cup. A regular goalscorer for his team, he is the older brother to two brothers in Arkjet’s setup, defenders Yohannes and Nathaniel. Simeone was a talented striker at an early age, and continued his form throughout the academy and into the first team where he’s been the club’s top goalscorer for the past two seasons running.

#19 – DR – Knut Svensson – Age 28 – SC Kiel (PIS) – 37 caps
Knut Svensson is a solid backup to Eirik Malsen but not exactly first-choice standard. Securing a move to SC Kiel in Polar Islandstates from Lusenhagen, that looked to boost his national team chances, where he has been a somewhat regular in recent games. But although Malsen looks to retire soon, Svensson needs to put in some better performances if he wants to be first choice, with youngsters such as Nathaniel Oseni and Lars Britsen snapping up at his heels, although there is no denying that he’s a good player.

#20 – AMC – Florent Marcssen – Age 20 – Copenbrok Klub – 6 caps, 1 goal
Virtually unknown to most Semar football fans, Florent Marcssen holds the claim of being one of the greatest 2Ligaen players in recent years. So? He’s a young player that impressed in the 2Ligaen, how has he done in the Premarligaen, let alone the national stage? When Copenbrok were in the top flight a few seasons ago, Marcssen signed his first professional contract at the start of the season and was subsequently loaned out to FC York for the rest of the season, where he helped them gain promotion. Now, Copenbrok Klub are playing in the 2Ligaen due to relegation but Marcssen, again, helped them gain promotion. Jansen took a risk with Tunji Tunde, who performed well, so why can’t Marcssen?

#21 – DL – Rasmus Norregaard – Age 24 – FC Nuholm – 25 caps
There is always a speedy, attacking left-back when you need one in Semarland. This time, Jensen has looked to FC Nuholm’s left-back Rasmus Norregaard. Then being uncapped, he showed lots of potential in domestic games and a few appearances for Semarland B convinced then manager Henrik Jensen to include him in the WC70 squad, and before he knew it, he was named in the squad for WC71 where he performed well and now, here he is, a regular left back for Semarland despite being below Matur Eiriksson in the pecking order. Alongside his pace, he also has a bit of flair, too. Some fancy tricks from him are not uncommon. But he is self-disciplined and knows when not to do such skills. He is also a good tackler, and can whip the ball away from an opponent like lightning.

#22 – GK – Kojo Boakye-Yiadom – Age 20 – FC Jansberg – 4 caps
Like Inzazi Dvulu and Guillaume Chanoure, impressive performances for Arkrau Klub saw him seal a summer move to FC Jansberg where he impressed as their first choice goalkeeper at such a young age. Now looking to stake his claim in the national team, he is seen as a bit of a gamble made by Andreas Jansen.

#23 – MC – Tunji Tunde - Age 21 – FC Nuholm – 23 caps, 5 goals
Undoubtedly one of the new stars of this new look young Semar team, previously unheard of midfielder Tunji Tunde has excelled on the international stage. Without even making an U21 appearance, not even being considered at the time, then national team head scout Marcus Latter recommended Tunde on a list of players to then-manager Henrik Jensen, who called him up to the squad. Playing for FC Nuholm, he has looked as assured in his role for country as he is for his club, where he forms an exciting midfield partnership with fellow national teammate Demba Cisse. Set to become a regular starting midfielder in qualifying with Marcel Labonne, which has the potential to blossom into one of the best yet. A great penalty taker who can score a few fancy goals, too.

Imperial Albaie National Team

The nation is still in a period of rebuilding following the war but the team remains the same. William Dubrack Dubrackson leads the team out for another tournament hoping for the international teams first success. Mark Deberen and Edward Mercer continue their interim stint in the managerial dugout with Vincent Debren The Elder still in a coma inside hospital. Deberen has though shown signs of progress and people still hope for his recovery which doctors are still unable to predict.

Mark Deberen has made it clear that this competition is to make sure that the national team get back to normal before they press on during the next couple of competitions and ensure that they eventually retake their place in football's top 100 which they had obtained before their recent troubles. While many believe the team will not be able to retain their old skill and ability due to the Second Imperial Civil War but many inside the AFA believe that instead their desire to represent the nation in the face of so much death will instead make them even more determined to make a good impression.

The Emperor and the Lord Imperial both keen supporters of returning Albaie to it's old status as one of the rising forces in international football and so they have been investing heavily into training facilities for the international team and even heavier into grass roots football to increase the importance of the national game. And so the national team goes into this competition with not a great deal of optimism at their chances but a huge deal of pride because life is finally returning to normal.

The team is almost exactly the same team as the last squad that the Imperial Albaie Football Association sent to the last world cup they entered but the retirements of two of the old guard of the Imperial Football Team required two changes to the squad. Victor Urup the legendary 37 year old central midfielder who played for Dubrack's Town Celtic winning every tournament available up until he turned 30 when due to a decrease in his possibility of obtaining playing time at his boyhood club he moved to Uran United where his career reignited and he fought his way back into the national club at 32 after an absence of a few years, Urup finishes his career with 123 caps and 22 international goals and his time also includes a captaincy period when he was 26 which ended only after two years with the rise of William Dubrack Dubrackson. Kieran Kewer is the second of the old guard to retire at the age of 36, the life long Albaie Rangers player obtained 88 caps and scored 20 international goals in a glittering career through which he has long been regarded as one of the finest players of his generation. The two are replaced by Glenn Wesley-Lambert the 25 year old Ruten Bridge Castle center midfielder and Karl Greybank the 16 year old Albaie Rangers left wing both are previously uncapped but have great experience at domestic level.

Count Vincent Deberen The Elder LCOTIO KOTB -Manager. Deberen Albaie's only manager in the recent Multiverse Era has lead our team to great heights during the Campionato Esportiva but the recent qualification campaign has besmirched his record. Hopefully Deberen can rebuild the team and lead it back to its former glory. Deberen also managers Dubrack's Town Celtic the Imperial Bank Premier League powerhouse who also have started making waves on the continental scene. Deberen is also a former player who holds all goal scoring records in the country and is Albaie's most capped ever player with 178 caps and with 167 goals shows what a star he was. Not to be confused with Vincent Deberen The Younger who is his 16 year old son who happens to play for both Dubrack's Town Celtic and the Albaie National Team. Even though he keeps his place as manager he is still incapacitated following a car crash and has remained so throughout the Great Imperial War.

Brigadier Lord Mark Deberen DC SRC AS Bar MS DSM of the 77th Brigade Deberen's Dragons - Assistant Manager/Caretaker Manager. Mark another member of the Deberen sporting dynasty who as son of Vincent Deberen The Elder was widely touted as his successor and at the young age of 15 was playing in a Under 19's match for his fathers club Dubrack's Town Celtic against local rivals Albaie Rangers to prepare for his starting debut when a vicious challenge broke his leg in two places and the young lad announced his retirement but a week later was announced as Head of Youth Team Liaisons at Dubrack's Town Celtic where he took lessons from his father and started doing his coaching badges and by the age of 20 he was Head of First Team Coaching under his father and alongside Sir Arthur Sportern was his father's closest ally. Mark then left the club at 24 to manage the struggling Maras Wolfs and in his first season won the Emperor's Shield and the Imperial Bet Championship and so secured promotion to the Imperial Bank Premier League. In the team's first season in the top flight Mark completed the unthinkable not only winning the Albaie Cup but the Imperial Bank Premier League itself a feat unrivalled in Albaie footballing history. Then at the end of the season he announced his resignation and returned to fill the space left by Arthur Sportern as he became Head of the AFA and made a duke. Mark then at the beginning of last season filled the gap left by Stephen MacMillan at international level who left to head the Imperial Commission for Improvement In Football under Duke Arthur Sportern at the AFA being made a Count in the process. Has taken over his father's managerial position in his absence. After a successful World Cup and his return to the war torn nation he joined up into the Imperial Army raising a brigade known as Deberen's Dragons with 5,000 infantry men, 1,500 horsemen and 500 artilleryman with cannons as well. His war service was exceptional and he saw combat in many battles one of which the Battle of Horseton in which he won the battle with a valiant horse charge but sustained a fierce face wound resulting in a much altered appearance. Over the course of the war he was awarded a DC a AS and a SRK for his valiant service as well as being allowed to start his own cadet branch House Deberen of Horseton with the lordship of Horseton being granted to him having slayed it's rebel lord in the battle. At the Battle Of Harlington Hall Mark and Vincent Deberen sneaked behind enemy lines with their troops and played havoc on the enemy rear effectively causing distractions that enabled the Emperor's troops to win the battle with minimal losses. Mark was awarded with a DSM and a AS for his service as well as having his estates expanded by 2,000 acres from territory taken from rebel soldiers.

Chief Of Staff Colonel Lord Edward " Lucky " Mercer DC AS SRC MC MS of the 77th Brigade Deberen's Dragons - Goalkeeping Coach / Caretaker Assistant Manager - " Lucky " is a former youth player for Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie but he suffered a serious injury his career was over. He then saw service in the 77th Dubrack's Town Light Infantry during the Second Advar Revolution when he sided with the Crown Prince during the Battle Of Advaria and then served by his side during the conflict and was well decorated with a Dubrack Cross and an Albert Star as well as a Saint Ruk Cross for his good service as well as being made a Knight of Saint Arthyr for saving the Crown Prince's life on three occasions. " Lucky " then joined the Imperial Guard but saw a stagnation in his career as he was posted to service with unimportant members of the Imperial Family and then finally service as a guard at the AFA which is where Count Vincent Deberen recruited him as a coach and he quickly rose through the ranks at Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie and became a key man in the Campionato Esportiva. He was a key part of the last World Cup campaign. Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side, with few players standing over six feet (1.83m) tall. The average Audioslavian footballer stands at around about 5'8 (1.72m) or thereabouts, though most goalkeepers and central defenders tend to be around 6'0. Of the current crop, defensive midfielder Gaizka Omaexevarria is an exception, standing at an improbable 1.93m tall.

Audioslavian footballers are renowned for their high fitness levels and stamina, though a comparitively lithely framed squad do occasionally have problems when facing large, physical teams. Quick, one-touch passing is the key to Audioslavia's midfield prowess, which likes to play at a high tempo, and the side often take advantage of some fleet-footed wingers and full-backs to play through-balls beyond the oppisition's defensive line after having created the space with some quick interchanges. Audioslavian attacking football was built on the idea that two crisp, quick passes around the opponent's penalty area will lead to a goalscoring opportunity, and as such the team's forward line throughout history has been littered with quick-thinking playmakers and dead-eye finishers.

Recent Audioslavian sides have had few weaknesses, but no team is without one or two or seven near-fatal flaws, and Audioslavia certainly are no strangers to flaws. Audioslavian national teams tend to lack true leadership figures on the pitch - our nation's footballers tend to be stubborn with regards to letting peers tell them what to do. Audioslavian teams sometimes tend towards disorder and in-fighting when truly on the back-foot - say, when one or two goals behind in a game - and are easily disheartened when things start to go wrong. On the pitch, the side's lack physical strength means defending against corners is often a problem, despite a well-drilled defensive line. Marauding full-backs can be susceptible to counter-attacks via the wings, and neither central-defender is particularly quick.

Kontrapuntzeka has long been the name of Audioslavia's style of play, taken from the Auskadian word for 'counterpunch'. Audioslavia's ability to hold teams at bay for long periods before hurting them via quick counter-attacks and short bursts of activity helped the side to its two World Cup victories. As the years have gone by, Audioslavia have had to veer away from the style as opponents start to adapt and change. The system that won two World Cups in a row doesn't quite hold against modern football teams. The national team have never really adapted a new style, however, and current manager Alexander Kirk has re-instated a counter-attacking style of play.

Audioslavia's squad has traditionally consisted of a multitude of Audioslavians plying their trade abroad, including a number of nationalised foreign-born players. The progression of the LigAnaia, however, has seen an larger proportion of domestic-based players make the national team squad. A number of them come from 1830 Cathair, who recently won the coveted Champions Cup.

Ronda Jude Styrn, or 'RJ', is the biggest story of the current squad. Styrn is Audioslavia's first ever female footballer. The selection of RJ Styrn had been first hinted at in former manager Lee Sharp's first press conference as national team manager, where he noted his preference for high, pressing football and the necessity of a terrier-like midfielder to close down opposing defenders as they attempted to release the ball. Now turning thirty, Styrn has amassed fifty-nine caps for the national team and was voted #2 best footballer in the world in an international poll during World Cup 70.

"Styrn is 5'5 but with broad shoulders and a low centre of gravity that allows her to turn quickly, shield the ball from defenders and get past them when needed. Styrn is quick over ten yards, though lacks the true pace to properly break away from chasing defenders. Her finishing inside the box is exemplary and though she's a quick and accurate passer she isn't the type to play in the final, killer ball. Styrn is much better inside the enemy eighteen yard box, finding and creating goal-scoring chances."

Those were the words of one journalist when asked to describe how effective a player Styrn was a number of years ago, but the modern incarnation has changed somewhat. The diminutive footballing talisman has lost more than a yard of pace due to some persistent injuries, and has occasionally struggled to find her form for club and country in recent years. Styrn's role has been reduced somewhat from that of a workhorse to a goal-grabber - the striker's eye for a finish hasn't dwindled along with her physical talents - and how long she stays as a first-choice striker largely depends on the form of those around her.

Second-choice up front is a toss-up between Hufdis Uulver and Espiridon Caszely - the former a big, broad-shouldered target-man and the other a diminutive out-and-out striker.

On the wings, Rijshaart and Jovellanos have long been the team's best playmakers, though many feel a potential golden generation has been thwarted by the fact that both are similar types of player who have pretty much proven, at this point, that they can't work in the same team together. Jovellanos is expected to start more of the games on that left hand side, while the right wing spot will likely be given to 21 year-old wunderkind Imanol Vengochea.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Serge Rollins hecame number 1 after all-time appearance-leader Kajaxo Imaslavii's retirement, but young Sean Patterick has recently been preferred by the manager. Patterick, a little smaller than Rollins and without the shot-stopping ability, nevertheless commands his area well and defends against corners *much* better than Rollins. Furthermore, he doesn't suffer the same problems with anxiety and self-doubt that Rollins apparently does.

At the back, Alec Koskinen has retired, leaving long-time partner Frantzko Intxausti to man the fort for one final tournament. In the full-back positions, Lame and Corbijn aren't the most exciting of Audioslavia's wing-back prospects, but have been chosen for their reliability.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else is fine. If you'd like to injure a few players or dish out red cards for a particularly harsh game, go right ahead, go hog wild. Want to injure the entire team in a bus-crash? Fine, but make it good, or suffer the humiliation of having your limbs scattered hither and thither via a blast from my mighty ignore-cannon.

One general rule about the Audioslavian national team is that we are very, very often the 'fall guy'. We've lost so many big matches - WC finals, AOCAF finals, you name it - that we've come to thrive on being the big baddie who gets their comeuppance at the end. If your team has a particular strength or tactic that they like to use, by all means use it against us and RP that it worked tremendously. The scorinator may well show us to have won, but don't let us get away with it without having had a jolly good scare first, and make sure to *really* rub it in our faces if you beat us. Anything that makes it fun to RP. We wouldn't have it any other way.

History of San Llera
San Llera has a long and storied history and has always had a passion for the game (In fact, the native peoples of San Llera claim to have invented soccer, though their claim is rarely recognized or even acknowledged). However, San Llera has only participated in the World Cup. Just prior to that World Cup, San Llera participated in its first international tournament, a tournament for newcomers entitled the Baptism of Fire. The Baptism of Fire started very well for San Llera with a perfect 5-wins-in-5-games group stage, but the 1-seed San Llera was knocked out in the round of 16 by 16-seed Flardania. It was a disappointing end to their run, but it still left San Llera confident that they could do well in World Cup Qualifying. Unfortunately, they were often left at the mercy of more experienced nations, and San Llera disappointed their hopeful fanbase with a mere 11 points in 14 games, not even coming close to qualifying for the World Cup.

As for the history of the nation itself, here is an excerpt from the national factbook:
"San Llera came into existence as the natives rose up against their overseas captors in 1857. After a bloody coup which resulted in the beheadings of most foreign government officials, San Llera remained stagnant as the natives returned to their old ways. The first president of San Llera was Dorano Trecci, a member of the Homeland Party. Parties have since been outlawed in San Llera. Recently, with the "presidency" of Alejandro Llano, San Llera has experienced a boom in population and economy along with urbanization. However, the people maintain their old traditions today."

Travel Guide
Should you be traveling to San Llera, here are some tips and information:
-The only airport in San Llera is Llerana International Airport, which is nine hours away from the stadium. Should you be traveling to qualifiers, it is recommended that you fly to one of the airports in the surrounding countries and then take a boat to Port Cremando, a pleasant city that is within walking distance of the stadium.
-In terms of language, San Llerans mostly speak San Lleran, a close relative of Catalan. Catalan- and Spanish-speakers should be able to communicate rather easily, and many San Llerans know English, as linguistics is one of the most popular studies in the nation. In general, people will be very hospitable towards you if you make an attempt to learn their language. If you don't, San Llerans can be very bitter.
-The color red is banned in San Llera. YOU WILL BE ARRESTED! Additionally, should you wear red to a soccer match, there is a law that states that your murderer(s) is/are not in any way responsible and will face no consequences. Any other visiting fans not wearing red will be treated with warmth.
-A common mistake visitors make is calling the people of San Llera "Llerans." DO NOT DO THIS! A Lleran is a specific race in San Llera (races in the country are based on soccer team allegiance, not color of skin since everyone is white), and Llarens or Patrians will take great offense.

You may notice that this stadium has no stands. While San Llera has plenty of modern stadia (with stands) to choose from, the site of soccer for thousands of years is the national stadium. Located in the Cremando Mountains on the giant Lake Aigua, the lack of stands does not prevent fans from coming out to see their team play. Fans will crowd any land they can find. Some passionate fans go out on boats to find space, others tread water for two hours. One infamous match against rivals Telsta resulted in 120,000 people catching a glimpse of the match in whatever way they could. La Rock ("The Rock") is not pictured, but provides a beautiful view and is a symbol of San Lleran independence.

Great Leader Alejandro Llano - Doesn't actually do anything
Head Coach Jon Lleranerus - The head coach is very passionate and is known for his angry rambling at press conferences. He is excellent at getting his players fit and installing toughness, but tactically his coaching skills are questionable.
Assistant Coach Marko Vujvic - Vujvic is not from San Llera, which garnered a lot of controversy when he was hired, but the people of San Llera have come to quite like the assistant coach. He is outgoing and known for his tactical skill, which makes up for the tactical skill of Lleranerus.
Assistant Coach Pietro Madonna - No relation to singer, Madonna is very good at helping to develop young players. He is the only coach San Llera has who is adept at making players better.

CB Alexandre De Gonia - 27 years old - Llerana SC - "The Soviet Swan" is the dirtiest player on the team, and will slide tackle anyone in sight. However, those who know him will tell you that he's a very kind, gentle, and romantic man. But if you see him on the pitch, you will start to doubt this.
RB Antoni Belles - 22 years old - Patria Poble - Belles is a young speedster that loves to overlap with winger and put in crosses but often gets caught in possession. However, he recently has been better at getting back on defense and not acting his age.
LB Pau Milla - 29 years old - Cremando Llera - Just a year ago, Milla was still playing street soccer in the tiny village he was brought up in. Since then, he has been discovered and given a spot on Cremando Llera, who he helped to a shocking 4th place finish with his excellent awareness and flashy ball skills.
CB Gerard Quella - 24 years old - San Llera University of Linguistics - Last World Cup, Quells was a shock selection who nobody had heard of. But solid World Cup play and his team's inclusion in the inaugural season of San League Soccer have made him an established player known for his clever passing.
CB Sergi Batista - 28 years old - Llara Llera - Batista, nicknamed "Beast", has a considerable size advantage over other players but not much else. He is 6'8"'and 250 pounds, and fantastic in the air, but he has been found lacking in areas such as awareness and on-ball defending. However, coaches in recent press conferences have pressed that he has improved considerably in those areas, and expectations are high for Batista to finally show more technical ability.
RB Marco Capo - 23 years old - Llerana SC - Capo could be considered to be the polar opposite of Batista. The Llerana SC defender possesses probably the highest soccer IQ of anybody on San Llera despite his young age, but he also has some serious shortcomings. Capo is easily bodied off the ball and very poor in the air, as well as his consistent struggle to keep up with faster attackers.
LW Martini Saragosa - 30 years old - AS Mantegapa - Saragosa definitely breaks the mold for traditional wingers. While most at his position are fast and dynamic on the ball, Saragosa is slow and rarely dribbles very much. However, he is an incredibly good passer that manufactures many San Lleran attacks.
CM Enric Bou - 20 years old - Llara Llera - After breaking out as an 18-year-old in the last World Cup, Bou is looking to play even better in this one. And his recent club play has indicated that he will be one of the best San Llera players in this World Cup. Bou, while still a bit lanky, is well beyond his years in passing.
CM Hector Fonda - 25 years old - Chell SC - "The Sponge" is one of the most popular players on San Llera, and he backs that popularity up with his talent. Fonda is rough, tough, and a beast in the defensive midfield who is feared by attackers and makes the defenders' lives much easier. He has also recently developed very nice chemistry with Bou, his partner in central midfield.
RW Don Llorens (VC) - 31 years old - Llerana SC - Despite a horrid campaign in the last World Cup which left expectant fans out for his head, Llorens is still undoubtably San Llera's best player. He has few weaknesses, being one of the best shooters, one of the best passers, one of the smartest, one of the fastest, and one of the most versatile players on the squad. This World Cup, expectations are still high and he should be able to sufficiently captain his team.
LW Adam Gasca - 17 years old - Porta Llora - Despite being the youngest player on the roster, Gasca has angered fans instead of excited them. He is incredibly unproven and seen as only being included to help develop him, not because he is one of the best 23 players from San Llera. In addition, the player he replaced (Eduard Mayner) was a fan favorite.
CM Paulo Masias - 26 years old - Llerana SC - While undeniably talented, Masias is also somewhat polarizing. He can be egotistical on and off the field. On the field, Masias doesn't pass as much as he probably should, and prefers to dribble and take optimistic shots. And off the field, he is hated by many of his teammates.
CM Alejandro Turro - 33 years old - Patria Poble - Turro is another of the many tough San Lleran defensive midfielders who is afraid of nobody. Unfortunately, Turro's age and Fonda's emergence have pushed him out of the starting XI.
RW Guifre Gil - 29 years old - Chell SC - Gil is an incredible dribbler and favorite of the fans, but stuck behind Don Llorens on the depth chart. He is also coming off of a bad injury, and needs to be eased back into form. And unfortunately for the eccentric winger, there won't be much time for him on the field to get back into form.
ST Andreu Mallet - 32 years old - Llerana SC - Mallet, San Llera's best player in the last World a up, straddles the line between striker and #10. He sometimes chooses to try to set up his teammates with chances, and sometimes tries to get the chances that he is very adept at setting up.
ST Carles Mestre - 25 years old - Pantans - Mestre, at his best, is clearly the starting striker for San Llera and perhaps the best player on the team. However, Mestre at his worst doesn't deserve to be in consideration for the roster. Jon Lleranerus will certainly hope he gets the good side of the 5'1" striker this World Cup.
ST Jan Capo - 24 years old - Rain FC (Equatorolio) - No relation to Marco, Jan is talented but has attitude problems. At the age of 20, Capo was caught on camera killing a man outside of a nightclub, and he was promptly convicted of murder. Then, in a strange turn of events, he was pardoned by Great Leader Alejandro Llano. Capo is now a free man, but seems to be on a course back to jail based on his track record of fights and off-field incidents.
ST Oscar Potus - 26 years old - Llara Llera - "The President" was a breakout star in San League soccer with Llara Llera. He is especially good at making clever runs behind defenders and finishing clinically.
