Another 3 points for hosts
Sunday, June 14, 2015Zitru 4-0 Szek Republic
The second fixture for the hosts was up against Szek Republic. The 2015 URFA Regional Cup is the first time the Szeks have participated in a Zuropean tournament since gaining independence in 1992. After a respectable 1-0 over a tough Belgiem side in the opening match of the competition, the Zitrans looked toward another 3 points to secure their advancing to the Round of 16.
23-year-old Striker Lewis Gill was able to find the opener just 7 minutes in after receiving a fantastic pass from Jaden Araadel. The Raedburg duo were able to spot each other on the field and Gill made the run as Araadel played the pass thanks to an excellent upfield clearance from central defender Darren Rezevik.
Ten minutes later the Szeks had an excellent chance to score as their central midfielder latched onto a great through ball from the right back and continued his run through the Zitran defense. The Szek managed to hit a powerful shot on Dako Zienen, but the 27-year-old stopper is difficult to beat and the Raedburg star showed why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world as he pulled off an acrobatic save to deny Szek Republic their equalizer.
After an first half without much action, the Dragons stepped up the game in the second period. In the 47th minute Raedburg left winger Reuben Pazhkelazo sprinted down the wing and played a cross into the box which arrived at the feet of Thomas Kaar. The 25-year-old was able to fire the ball home and it crept in past the post, beating the Szek goalkeeper.
Just five minutes after Kaar’s excellent goal, Lewis Gill scored his second of the game after being played through by previous scorer Kaar and beating two Szek defenders - as well as the goalkeeper. The international superstar quickly controlled Kaar’s pass, gave one center back a nutmeg before chipping the ball over the other and firing home past the goalkeeper to put Zitru 3-0 up.
A last minute effort from Altair Reuzen helped Zitru gain all 3 points in an outstanding way as the Balsak striker hit an impressive shot from 25 yards to beat the Szek stopper for a fourth time in 90 minutes. The Szek Republic did have a few chances after Reuzen’s winner, but Dako Zienen was more than capable of preventing the goals and keeping a clean sheet as the Dragons stormed to a second consecutive victory.Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Lewis Gill - For his two fantastic goals and a great overall performance.
