SPORT | 2015 URFA Regional Cup
Another 3 points for hosts

Sunday, June 14, 2015

Zitru 4-0 Szek Republic

The second fixture for the hosts was up against Szek Republic. The 2015 URFA Regional Cup is the first time the Szeks have participated in a Zuropean tournament since gaining independence in 1992. After a respectable 1-0 over a tough Belgiem side in the opening match of the competition, the Zitrans looked toward another 3 points to secure their advancing to the Round of 16.

23-year-old Striker Lewis Gill was able to find the opener just 7 minutes in after receiving a fantastic pass from Jaden Araadel. The Raedburg duo were able to spot each other on the field and Gill made the run as Araadel played the pass thanks to an excellent upfield clearance from central defender Darren Rezevik.

Ten minutes later the Szeks had an excellent chance to score as their central midfielder latched onto a great through ball from the right back and continued his run through the Zitran defense. The Szek managed to hit a powerful shot on Dako Zienen, but the 27-year-old stopper is difficult to beat and the Raedburg star showed why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world as he pulled off an acrobatic save to deny Szek Republic their equalizer.

After an first half without much action, the Dragons stepped up the game in the second period. In the 47th minute Raedburg left winger Reuben Pazhkelazo sprinted down the wing and played a cross into the box which arrived at the feet of Thomas Kaar. The 25-year-old was able to fire the ball home and it crept in past the post, beating the Szek goalkeeper.

Just five minutes after Kaar’s excellent goal, Lewis Gill scored his second of the game after being played through by previous scorer Kaar and beating two Szek defenders - as well as the goalkeeper. The international superstar quickly controlled Kaar’s pass, gave one center back a nutmeg before chipping the ball over the other and firing home past the goalkeeper to put Zitru 3-0 up.

A last minute effort from Altair Reuzen helped Zitru gain all 3 points in an outstanding way as the Balsak striker hit an impressive shot from 25 yards to beat the Szek stopper for a fourth time in 90 minutes. The Szek Republic did have a few chances after Reuzen’s winner, but Dako Zienen was more than capable of preventing the goals and keeping a clean sheet as the Dragons stormed to a second consecutive victory.

Destiny Airlines Man of the Match: Lewis Gill - For his two fantastic goals and a great overall performance.

Avantia 0—0 Teremult
A second consecutive win in the group stage of the URFA Regional Cup would have been perfect, and would have allowed the Teremultese to relax as it’d be almost impossible for Los Rojos to be knocked out of the competition in this stage. However, a tough Avantian side were the opponents of Teremult at the Ahckman Arena for the seventh fixture of the 2015 tournament, and Joachim Low’s side were not letting 3 points slip through their fingers. There were no changes made to the side that thrashed Slovakea 3—0 last Saturday.

It was the Avantians—otherwise known as die Nationalmannschaft—who controlled the match throughout the majority of the first half. An attempt from 36-year-old striker Miroslav Klose was fantastically saved by Teremult’s star stopper, Cristiano Rodríguez, and the Mortoge goalkeeper was able to get his hand to a Thomas Muller strike just 5 minutes later to prevent Avantia taking an early lead over his side. A few other attempts came from the Avantian team in the first 45 minutes, and there was only one Teremultese shot on target—courtesy of Rafael who blasted his shot straight at Manuel Neuer.

The second half began to lean slightly toward the Teremultese as opposed to the Avantians, and it was clear that strikers Rafael and Adrián Marciano had an excellent partnership up front with each other. A great through ball from Hernández arrived at the feet of Rafael who quickly played it into Marciano, but the Tweakavant striker was unable to strike on target and his shot came off the post. An outstanding strike in the 73rd minute from Avantian striker Klose was acrobatically saved by Cristiano Rodríguez, and a similar shot up the other end was blocked by Jerome Boateng who was lucky to be in front of the goal at the time. Neither side managed to convert their chances, however, and the match ended in a draw.

Starting XI: C. Rodríguez - L. Alexis, A. Danta, F. Goméz, S. Martínez - J. Alves, M. Hernández, L. Fábrena, R. Rubin - A. Marciano, Rafael
Substitutes: A. Navas, M. Rodrígo, O. Fernández, R. Radão, T. Luis, A. Raúl

Flynnerane 2-0 Veneco

ORLANDO, ZITRU - The Kutch were able to wrap up another 3 points with a strong 2-0 victory over last year’s URFA Regional Cup hosts Veneco at the brand new Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Striker Flynn Anderson bagged his second goal of the 2015 URFA Regional Cup and midfielder Jake Freeman also got his name on the score sheet.

Flynnerane kicked the match off and immediately began to pressurize the Venecan defense, playing pass after pass until a run was spotted from Adrian De Gea. The 23-year-old Bergarek United star was able to skip past Arthur Black of Veneco and place a shot to the right of Fraser Winches, but the Croftfoot Rovers goalkeeper managed to get a hand to the ball and stop it creeping past him.

In the 24th minute Bergarek United’s Jake Freeman assumed control of the ball and played a quick one-two pass with Zane Jackson before cutting past the Venecan defense into the box and firing home into the top right corner of the net, beating Fraser Winches with ease and putting the Kutch Eagles a goal up.

Venecan star striker Callum Cowan, 23, had an outstanding chance to score after being played through by fellow Croftfoot Rovers teammate Barry Sutez, but the youngster’s shot was no where near powerful enough to beat Tim Howard, and Flynnerane’s 35-year-old veteran was able to make an easy save and hold the ball safely.

Just a few minutes into the second half, striker Zane Jackson found his up front partner Flynn Anderson in excellent space inside Veneco’s box and chipped the ball over the defense to him. The 23-year-old was then able to chip Fraser Winches without thinking twice and put Flynnerane 2-0 up - as well as leaving Croftfoot’s stopper red-faced.

In the 80th minute the Venecans had an absolutely fantastic chance to grab a consolation goal to potentially bring them back into the game. Cowan spotted 21-year-old wonderkid Darren Anderson in the box and tapped the ball across to the Salaco signing, but the striker’s shot smacked the bar and came out again into Howard’s grip. Goal line technology showed that the attempt was not a goal and Flynnerane were able to secure another win.

L’ÉQUIPE
2015 URFA REGIONAL CUP - THE RYKURIA NATIONAL TEAM
The Rykuria national team have got off to a respectable start in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup Group D, alongside the Legenlands, Croetia and Dzukeland. Despite losing the opening fixture 2-1 to the Legenese, the Rykurians bounced back and defeated Croetia 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Karim Benzema.

The first game against the Legenlands didn’t go quite to Didier Deschamps’ plan as winger Arjen Robben put the Oranje a goal up within twelve minutes of kick off. Various attempts from both Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann, as well as one from Paul Pogba, were saved by Legenese stopper Jasper Cillessen. The 22-year-old was unable to prevent an outstanding strike from Real Madrid’s Benzema reaching the back of the net, but a 72nd minute goal from Memphis Depay allowed the Legenlands to walk away with a win.

Croetia were tough opponents to face in the second game of the Group Stage, and their strike force were certainly not showing any mercy toward the Rykurians. A Croetian attempt was fantastically saved by Hugo Lloris just before the break, which could have easily crept by the Kelltoyer goalkeeper if he hadn’t been so focused. It took almost the whole match for either side to break the deadlock, but Karim Benzema was able to do so in the 85th minute via a lovely through ball courtesy of Antoine Griezmann.

SPORT | 2015 URFA Regional Cup
Zitru advances to knockout stages

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Palmbukia 1-2 Zitru

A place in the Round of 16 in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup was confirmed after the 4-0 victory over Szek Republic earlier in the tournament, and even a loss to the Palmbukians would not prevent Zitru advancing as they would hold second place behind their opponents. However, the Dragons were more than capable of securing the maximum 9 points in their group for the third Regional Cup running, and ensure that they advanced comfortably.

The hosts were in for quite a shock as the Palmbukian team, complete with National Soccer League stars Nasan Nijidek and Alexis Suarez between the sticks and up front respectively, were eager to take the lead as soon as possible. Palmbukia’s left winger spotted an excellent run from Alexis Suarez and whipped a cross into the box, allowing the Jachtlekaar ace to simply tap the ball past Dako Zienen and put the Islanders 1-0 up.

A number of attempts from the Zitrans were fantastically blocked by Nasan Nijidek, one particular shot from Altair Reuzen was caught by the Rockvale stopper when it appeared it would smash the back of the net. After these failed tries at an equalizer, the Zitru were rewarded for their hard work as Reuben Pazhkelazo converted a shot which curled past Nijidek, struck the post and went in.

After half time the Palmbukians switched from attacking play to a more defensive style of football as Zitru constantly searched for their second goal to seal the 3 points they desired. An excellent strike from Dirk Kais was acrobatically saved by Nijidek and parried away for a corner. The ball was whipped in by Adrian Marano but, upon receiving the ball just outside the box, Reuzen was fouled by a Palmbukian defender. Lewis Gill struck the subsequent free kick and it was heading for the top-left corner before curving to the right and easily beating Nijidek to give the Zitrans their win.

Rossia 0—1 Teremult
Teremult secured their place in the knockout stage of the 2015 URFA Regional Cup after defeating Rossia 1—0 thanks to an outstanding effort from 32-year-old striker Adriano Raúl. The result ensured Los Rojas finished second in Group B behind rivals Avantia on goal difference. Luis Carvalho made only two changes to the side that drew 0—0 with Avantia, replacing Altova Danta with Miguel Rodrígo and Rafael with Adriano Raúl, and gave 21-year-old Fueleha striker Marcos Benítez and 25-year-old Aáron Gonzalez a place on the bench each.

The Rossians started the match off slowly as their midfield passed the ball between each other and the Teremultese pressed and pressed for almost 15 minutes. Fueleha midfielder Júnior Alves intercepted a pass from one of the Rossian players and found Ricardo Rubin sprinting down the right wing, and the 21-year-old played an excellent pass over to the Raedburg star. Rubin was able to find Adrián Marciano in the box, but the Tweakavant striker was unable to convert a headed effort and Rossia won back possession.

Just a few minutes after the whistle blew to signal the start of the second half, Teremult’s 33-year-old striker Adriano Raúl had converted a through ball from Real Madrid’s Lucas Fábrena, which meant Teremult had taken the lead in the 48th minute. Having gone 1—0 very quickly, Carvalho’s men reverted to defending attacks from the Rossians. However, the Eastern Zuropean giants didn’t pose much of a threat to Teremult’s Group Stage clean sheet, and Los Rojas secured 3 hard-earned points.

Teremult v Palmbukia
It has been confirmed that Teremult will face Palmbukia in the Round of 16 in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup at the Mortoge Stadium. The Palmbukians finished third in Group A behind Zitru and Belgiem with mixed results. They first defeated the Szek Republic 2—1 on June 13, and then drew 1—1 with Belgiem on June 17 before losing 1—2 to hosts Zitru on June 21. Los Rojas topped Group B, beating Slovakea 3—0, Rossia 1—0 and drawing 0—0 with 2013 champions Avantia.

Head coach Luis Carvalho has said he is expecting the Teremult boys to beat the Palmbukians and advance to the quarter—final stage of the tournament. National captain Rafael believes that the team are quite capable of doing so, but also thinks that Palmbukia will be tough opposition. “It would be fantastic to beat Palmbukia and advance to the next stage, and I am sure we can do that,” said Rafael. He continued, “But the Palmbukians will be a tough side to beat, especially considering their striker Alexis Suárez and goalkeeper Nasan Nijidek — plus Adriel Navas on the bench.”

Legenlandse Voetbal Nieuws
Voetbal nieuws de hele dag, elke dag

A BROADCAST FROM THE FOOTBALL SECTION OF THE LEGONESE NEWS

Good evening, and welcome to the nine o’clock news. I am Legonese reporter Guus van Hooijdonk with you tonight for this report.

It has just been confirmed that with a 1-0 victory over Croetia, the Legenlands have qualified for the Round of 16 in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup. The Oranje will play Rossia in the second knockout stage fixture on Saturday, June 27th.

The Legenlands national football team will be hoping to beat the Rossians to advance on to the quarter-finals, and eventually avenge their semi-final exit in the 2014 URFA Regional Cup. During last year’s tournament, the Legenlands topped Group C with three wins - beating Cahrolle 3-2, Plaizh Avantia 3-1 and Muten 3-1.

In the quarter-final they then beat Flynnerane 1-0 at Tannadice Park to advance on to the semi-finals, only to be knocked out by Avantia after a penalty shootout which the latter won 4-2. The Oranje were able to claim third place with a respectable 2-1 win over Nakyrozia at Croftfoot Park.

We would like to wish the Legenlands good luck from all of us here at Legenlandse Voetbal Nieuws. I’m Guus van Hooijdonk, goodnight.

SPORT | 2015 URFA Regional Cup
Round of 16

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Ahead of their Round of 16 clash with Gerelia in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup, Zitru have been named as one of the favorites to win the tournament this year in Zitran and other Zuropean media. National team head coach Dako Redfield has reportedly told his players to wave away the speculation and focus on their football. “If we’re going to win this tournament, we need to focus on football and football alone,” Redfield said. “We can’t have the boys’ heads filled with all these distracting rumors in the biggest continental championship.”

Before the Dragons can actually have hopes of even getting to the final, they must first face three potentially tough fixtures against the other participants of the tournament. The first of these tests is against Gerelia, which will be tough but fairly contested match. Dako Redfield, however, expects the Zitrans to come away with a win. He said, “Winning the 2014 Regional Cup was big for us and for the team, having been without a regional title since 2005. But I expect us to come away with a win against Gerelia, considering their poor performance last year.”

Redfield knows not to underestimate opponents, however, and said he was not at all shocked when Palmbukia’s Alexis Suárez beat Dako Zienen after just 15 minutes. “Suárez is an outstanding player, and I considered bringing him to Raedburg at one point in time but knew it would be a tough job for him to contest for a place in the starting eleven with Lewis Gïll and Däko. He has fantastic composure on the ball and in front of goal, and has played well so far in the Regional Cup this year.”

Cahrolle face Serbeja in Round of 16

ZITRU - Cahrolle will face Serbeja in the Round of 16 in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup. The Serbejans finished third in Group F behind Nakyrozia and Chungchilla with 3 points and advanced to the knockout stage of the competition as the third best third-placed team. The other three were Gerelia in first, Palmbukia in second and Rossia in fourth. The Cahrollese are set to face Serbeja on Sunday 28th June 2015. Zitru will face Gerelia and Nakyrozia will play Portugol on the same day.

The Blues will hope to snatch a win to advance onto the quarter-finals stage of the Regional Cup, and after great performances in the group stage by topping Group C with 7 points, it seems very likely. Cahrolle contested a heated 0-0 draw with Suitzerland to open their campaign before beating Ruskara 2-1 and then Gerelia by the same scoreline.

Cahrolle managed to reach the quarter-final stage of the 2014 URFA Regional Cup - the last time the tournament was contested by 16 countries - finishing second in Group C with 4 points after a 2-3 defeat to the Legenlands, a 2-1 win over Muten and a 1-1 draw with Plaizh Avantia. The Blues then lost 0-2 to Avantia at Estadio Real on Monday 14th July 2014 as they were knocked out of the tournament. Will the Cahrollese selection redeem themselves this year?

2015 URFA REGIONAL CUP
GROUP F: REVIEW

FOLLOWING an excellent campaign in Group F winning all three games to rack up nine points, plus scoring eight goals and keeping a clean sheet, Nakyrozia have been drawn against Portugol in the 2015 URFA Regional Cup Round of 16. The Reds have been training very hard in order to be able to threaten the Portuguese in this big fixture. Before the knockout stage, however, Deportivo! have reviewed Nakyrozia’s matches in Group F.

The Nakyrozians opened their 2015 campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Group F underdogs Ukrana. Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta was on target to give Nakyrozia a lead in the 14th minute via the first of two Cesc Fàbregas assists. David Villa was unlucky not to convert a shot in the 34th minute past the Ukrainian goalkeeper, but Fernando Torres was quick to pounce on the stopper’s mistake. 33-year-old Villa did get a goal in the 76th minute, however, as Nakyrozia took all three points

Chungchilla were next in Group F, and they were easily beaten 2-0 thanks to a goal from Juan Mata and a Xabi Alonso penalty. Mata scored in the 33rd minute of the match when Diego Costa played the Dynamo Sportaka midfielder through, and Nakyrozia took their 1-0 lead into the second half. Just five minutes later a foul on Diego Costa gave Nakyrozia a penalty, and Xabi Alonso converted the set piece to give Nakyrozia another three points.

Nakyrozia defeated Serbeja 3-0 in the final match of the Group Stage. Koke opened the scoring in the 21st minute after being played over the top of the Serbejan defense by Pedro. The rest of the first half saw almost no action. But in the second half, Diego Costa bagged his first goal of the 2015 Regional Cup after an excellent solo run and finish as Nakyrozia went 2-0 up. And in the 83rd minute, Fernando Torres scored an outstanding right-footed goal after controlling Pedro’s pass with his chest and volleying home, allowing Nakyrozia to take another three points.
