Triple Crown 3

Welcome to the third Triple Crown for the Kingdom of Saintland since the event was opened to international entrants. This year, a record 200 horses from 20 nations have entered and will participate in a series of prep races to determine the 20 qualifiers for this year's Saintland Derby. 10 Prep Races will be held on each Prep Race day, each consisting of 20 horses. The top 20 horses in terms of points, after the 5th round of prep races, will qualify for the Saintland Derby. This is the place to post your RPs and is also where the results of the races will be posted.

Prune Beam, Donkey Hotay, Finish Top 5

Gregoryisgodistani horses Prune Beam and Donkey Hotay each finished in the Top 5 in their races leading up to the Saintland Triple Crown and earned valuable points that will allow them to compete and win before the Sanctii. In the Eastern Stakes Derby in San Jose Guayabal, Eye-ee-zus is Not Lord finished a disappointing 14th, about four seconds off the lead. It was very disappointing, as God Wills It finished in 13th, just ahead. The jockey of God Wills It then proceeded to mock Jockey I1K3NBASD about how God willed him to beat him, but Eye-ee-zus is Not Lord then proceeded to neigh angrily and poop on the foot of God Wills' It's trainer. It was hilarious

Gregoryisgodistan had no horses in Race B, but in Race C, Nukey Dukey finished a disappointing 18th out of 20. The jockey celebrated not finishing last by waving a banner with a picture of a nuclear bomb. His jockey outfit also had a picture of a nuclear warhead - that was his logo thingy.

In race D, Gruely One finished dead last, but his jockey got revenge by throwing gruel at all the other horses and jockeys. They had gruel in their face and gruel on their jockey shirts and even gruel in their eyes. The horses got mad but then they got more gruel. It was fun.

In Race F, Horse of Clown 0813UUXB finished 8th, a remarkable finish considering he was wearing clown shoes and a clown costume. His jockey, Clown 0813UUXB, aka Clowney the Clown, was also wearing a clown costume. He previously wore his clown costume to compete in modern pentathlon at the Olympics. He didn't do well.

In race G, Donkey Hotay became the first Gregoryisgodistani horse to earn points, finishing fifth. Gregory is God finished only 17th, but ahead of Iesus is Lord in 19th, proving once and for all that Gregory, not Eye-ee-zus, is God and Lord.

In race H, Prune Beam finished in fourth place, also earning points. His jockey celebrated by dousing himself, the horse, and the trainer with prune juice, much as other riders douse themselves with champagne after a good performance. They were very purple afterwards but it was worth it.

Meanwhile, Let's Blow Up Saintland finished 13th. His jockey responded by singing "Let's Blow Up Saintland".

Finally, in Race I, I Hate King Petrus finished 7th and Totally Not a Horse finished 18th after confusing everyone as to what species he was.

Next up, all horsies will head to Southern Democratic States for the Knox County Derby.

Nurkama Doing Quite Well In TC3

SAINTLAND- Nurkama has done well and few horses have finished below the top half.

In Race A, Nurkama horse Varsity came in second place only behind San Jose Guayabals Thunderbolt by 0:00.044. Nurkama horse Revolution came 5th. There are 20 competitors in each race.

In Race B, Nurkama did not have a competitor.

In Race C, Nurkama's Mystery finished with an above average performance finishing 8/20. About 2 and a half seconds behind first place.

In Race D, Nurkama did not have a competitor again.

In Race E, Nurkama's Black Lightning FINISHED 1ST!!! Finishing .268 ahead of Root Beer from Southwest Eastnorth.

In Race F, Nurkama had two competitors, but one of them finished below average in 14th. It was "NEIGH"bour, Axis took a solid second place.

In Race G, Nurkama had a nice performance with Lushba and Betty finishing above average. 4th and 9th respectively.

In Race H, Nurkama did not have a competitor.

In Race I, Nurkama did not have a competitor.

In Race J, Nurkama's Kama finished in a solid 4th place. But Mu Shu came in 14th like "NEIGH"bour did.

Overall, Nurkama did well with Black Lightning coming in 1st overall. Axis in 11th. Varsity tied for 11th. Both Kama and Lushba tied for 31st. and Revolution tying for 41st. Other Nurkama horses have not received any points and do not make the overall scoreboard.

Prep Race 5 - Draw

As Drunk on Water, Enlightenment and Kentucky Fried Sword have already qualified for the Triple Crown, they will be allowed to rest instead of competing in the Darmeni Derby. In addition, the 22 horses that have points but are unable to earn advancement will be left out of the field. This leaves an 11 horse field for each of the 5 Darmeni Derby races, battling for the last 17 spots in the Saintland Derby field.

Tiebreakers for 20th Spot

Five horses finished tied at 16 points for the last spot in the Saintland Derby field. Those horses are:

Finally, Ariel Happened to Me (The Royal Barangay)
Pride of Valenciennes (Nouvel Acadie)
Red Eyes (Miss World Island)
Rock of Ages (Mavenheim)

The first tiebreaker is the number of wins. All 5 horses won 1 race apiece, so no horses are eliminated at this step. The second tiebreaker is number of places. 3 of the horses have a place while 2 of them have none. Therefore Pride of Valenciennes (Nouvel Acadie) and Red Eyes (Miss World Island) are eliminated by the second tiebreaker.

The following tiebreakers are number of shows, number of 4ths and number of 5ths. None of these horses finished 3rd, 4th or 5th in any prep races. The best finish of each of the remaining horses (excluding their win and place) was:

Nurkama Qualifies Two Horses For Triple Crown 3

After all the prep races with horses to qualify for the Triple Crown 3, Nurkama qualifies 2/10 horses to the main event. Black Lightning and Axis.

Black Lightning had placed first in all races but one making for an easy qualification for the top 20.

Axis had a few stumbles but kept up into the top.

These horse will continue to the main event.

Kaboomlandia has two horses in the Saintland Derby. While Lavender's Blue was consistent and came in 16th, Equus Pride exploded near the end of the prep races, winning three races in a row to be ranked second.

Enlightenment heads to Saintland

Dinner party patrons will all understand the feeling that Professor Anne Riklund is currently feeling. It's an awkward feeling where you criticize someone to a group of people, only to turn aroun and find yourself in the presence of the target of the criticism. It's a strange situation brought about by the current edition of the Triple Crown - horse racing's greatest competition.

Professor Riklund is an esteemed philosopher at the University of Videnhagen. Her plethora of books have generated a strong amount of wealth; especially her last book, On Ignorance. In this book, Riklund criticizes fundamentalists and others for not only being immoral, but by being inefficient. She has effectively adapted Darwinism and applied it to ideas and schools of thought. In other words, she believes that all methods of thinking and worshipping are in competition with each other, and the best ones will rise to the top. As a result, Riklund believes that supporting diversity doesn't only make for good marketing, it also creates a strong environment for the best ideas to triumph over others. In her book, Riklund suggests that states should embrace as many different ideologies as possible, and then the competition between them will determine what the very best is. In addition, ideas that are in constant contact and competition against one another will inevitably adapt and merge with one another. Therefore, the best segments of every ideology will, over time, mold into a single ideology that an entire nation will be able to support.

On a recent book tour, Riklund answered a question that generated quite a few responses in politics and academia. When asked to point out a case study that she could use to demonstrate the premise of her book, Riklund did not hesitate to bring up the theocracy of Saintland.

"You can talk about how flawed the Sanctii ideology is. However, to me, little is more backwards than their policies regarding how they use their population. First off, their patriarchal social structure has marginalized half the population; as a society, Saintland is essentially operating like a car that is only running off of half as many cylinders. However, when we look at their perspectives and philosophies, they seem to reject anything that does not confirm what they already believe. So, having a single ideology [Christianity] is great for uniting a population and generating nationalism. However, when it comes to thinking outside the box and solving big political, economic, and social problems, they'll find it very difficult because everyone thinks the same-no one can think outside the box when everyone thinks the same thing.

Of course, Saintland doesn't take nicely to criticism, and some backlash from the Crown is to be expected. However, most of the time, when someone criticizes Saintland, they are a relatively safe distance away. Riklund is not giving herself this luxury; she will be traveling (or at least attempting to travel) to Saintland with her horse Enlightenment in order to watch it compete in the Saintland Derby.

Enlightenment is a lean, chestnut horse that doesn't look like it could support a child on its back, never mind a jockey. However, Enlightenment's lanky legs work wonders for him. Enlightenment has been extremely dominating in the races leading up to the triple crown. He has won two races, the Eastern Stakes Derby in San Jose Guayabal and the Videnhagen Stakes in Vermark. Enlightenment's success has been owed to multiple things. One, perhaps, is his fiery trainer, Jakob Giese. Giese is an emotional man who loves nothing more than winning. After struggling on the Varish thoroughbred circuit, he finally made a new for himself after winning a handful of races with horses of the owner Anne Riklund. Along with his compasion, Giese is also an equestrian expert. He is a trained veterinarian with a Ph.D in biology. He has also adapted many elements of training for long distance running for humans into training programs for horses. For example, his horses have interval workout, but also recovery days that feature slower, continuous exercise in order to allow the horse to recoup without losing any fitness. Compassion, along with science and training has been what has made Enlightenment competitive, which will make him a horse-to-beat at the Derby.

Despite being a fantastic trainer, all eyes won't be on Giese, but rather his boss, Anne Riklund. Her comments put her in an awkward position, but nonetheless, she intends on going to Saintland with Enlightenment. Of course, just as ironic as Riklund's comments is her horse's name. Throughout the early modern era, the Sanctii monarchy actively tried to prevent the Enlightenment, as in the historical movement, from entering Saintland. Now, Enlightenment is literally coming to Saintland. Whether the horse itself triumphs or the horse's owner's opinions triumph, the Vares, sporting and non-sporting, will be watching Saintland to see what happens.

Prune Beam wins Saintland Derby, eats Sanctii flag and Holy Bible in winner's circle

Gregoryisgodistani horse Prune Beam has won the Saintland Derby, the inaugural leg of the Saintland Triple Crown, becoming the first Gregoryisgodistani horse to win a Triple Crown race. Prune Beam beat Rock of Ages of Mavenheim by about 0.4 seconds to win the race. He who Neighs in Nothingness came in third.

Although the Sanctii fans were furious by the win of a Gregoryisgodistani horse, booing and chanting "Gregory is Not God", what happened next made them even more infuriating. While Prune Beam was in the winner's circle, his trainer walked over to a flagpole, tore down the flag, and fed it to Prune Beam, who ate it gleefully. Then the trainer reached into his bag, pulled out a copy of The Bible, and fed that to Prune Beam as well. Prune Beam ate it and burped noisily afterwards. Then the organizers of the tournament gave the trainer and jockey a trophy, but only because they had to. It was a glorious victory for Prune Beam in front of the jeering crowd, and the trainer certainly did much to provoke them further.

As Prune Beam was being led away from the winner's circle, the jockey took a boom box from the trainer and played a recording of the classic new WorldVision hit "The Day King Petrus Dies" and both he and the trainer started to sing along. The horse walked very slowly to allow the whole eight minute song to finish, and got back to the stable just as it was finishing. Prune Beam then ate prune juice and gruel for dinner, as all Gregoryisgodistani commoners, even horses, are required to eat only those two foods.

When the Sanctii questioned the intelligence of this, Prune Beam's jockey, who was a man skilled in mocking other religions, pointed to a passage in the Book of Jonah where the King of Nineveh declared that the horses as well as the humans must don sackcloth and ashes and fast for three days to repent for their sins. Therefore, the jockey concluded, the Sanctii and their fellow Christian heathens must believe that horses should follow the same rules as humans, since their phony Bible tells them so. Then again, it also says the multiverse is 6,000 years old when everybody knows it was created by Lord Almighty Gregory just 2,014 years, 5 months, and 19 days ago, on November 5, Year 0000, aka Creation Day.

Meanwhile, Gregoryisgodistani New Year is coming up soon, June 1, and everyone just can't wait. Prune Beam hopes to win the Triple Crown as a New Year's present, as do his trainer and jockey. Let's go Prune Beam!
