Volatus Open/Cenial Masters - Everything Thread

Postby Ceni » Sun May 03, 2015 3:33 pm

Welcome to Ceni for the next two months of hard-court tennis!
Ceni will be hosting the next two months of tennis as the tour makes its transition from the clay court to the hard court portions of the tour. The Volatus Open, a Tier 2 event, and the Cenial Masters, a Tier 1 Mandatory event, will be launching boards for success at the Cenian Open, to come at the beginning of June. The Volatus Open will be held at the Volatus Millenium Sports Complex in City Centre, Ceni; the Cenial Masters will be held at the Lake Cenial Tennis Complex, near the Lake Cenial stadium, in Cenial, Ceni. There will be one RP thread for both events, and RP will be cumulative throughout both events. RP will tentatively be added directly to ranks, although this may be changed. RPing will be very important and those who RP well will likely do better. Scorination will use the xkoranate 0.3.3, with 3 sets for the singles events and the Cenial Masters's doubles event. The Volatus Open doubles event will be scorinated using the super-tiebreak module. A small host bonus of 1/2 of a matchday's RP will be assigned to Cenian players, not to Costenho players, if I decide to enter them. Nations may enter 8 singles and 4 doubles players into the Cenial Masters, and half of that amount for the Volatus Open. Qualification format will be announced in accordance with the number of signups. The main draw of the Cenial Masters will be 64 for singles and 32 for doubles; in Volatus, the main draw will be 28 for singles and 16 for doubles.

GANDO: Hello and we welcome all viewers to this special coverage from the Volatus Millenium Sports Complex in City Centre, Ceni for the Volatus Open! I am Levi Gando and this is Stephanie Lado. Tomorrow is the start of the Volatus Open qualification days which will last 3 days, then qualifiers will play in the main rounds. In the previous tennis tournament, Britannual Open II hosted in Britonisea, not many Madesenes had as much success as they did in the Hamilton III tournament in Electrum. In the Britannual it was Madesene players Gabe Anderson and big man Rafferty Henri who had the most success, making it to the round of 32. NSHQ will broadcast live coverage of the action from the first day of qualification here from Ceni tomorrow. So, Stephanie, who exactly will play tomorrow from Madesu?

LADO: Yes, thank you Levi; here are brief player profiles of Madesenes playing in the upcoming Cenian tournaments.

-Mayeso Kayden
19 years old, 5'10, 176 pounds.
Kayden is a Ground stroker. Kayden did not play much of a successful run at the Britannuals, as he had a 1-3 W-L ratio in the qualifying rounds.

-Gabe Anderson
18 years old, 6'1, 182 pounds.
Solid ground-stroker. Made his run up to the round of 32 in the Britannuals.

-Odell Bristol
20 years old, 6'3, 185 pounds.
Skilled all-round player. Did not qualify in Britannuals; 1-3 W-L record in qualification rounds.

-Martin Bond
23 years old, 6'0, 180 pounds, left handed.
Excellent all-round player. Did not have as much luck in the Britannuals compared to the Hamilton III, with an 0-4 W-L record in the qualification rounds.

-Rafferty Henri
21 years old, 6'5, 203 pounds.
Big server, excellent ground stroker. Made it to the round of 32 with a 4-1 W-L ratio at the Britannuals.

-Sajjad De Sauveterre
20 years old, 5'9, 184 pounds.
All-round player. Had a 1-3 W-L ratio in the qualification rounds.

-Benjamin Shaw
26 years old, 6'3, 190 pounds.
Serve-and-volley type of tennis player. Had a 2-2 W-L record but unfortunately did not amass enough points to qualify.

-Adebowale Gilliam
24 years old, 5'11, 187 pounds, left handed.
All-round player. Had a 2-2 W-L record at the Britannuals but did not have enough points to qualify.

And our doubles players are playing are:

-Benoit/Hamilton had a 1-3 W-L ratio in the qualification rounds of the Britannuals.
Glenn Benoit
25 years old, 6'4, 193 pounds.
Mostly all-round, special net player.

Drummond Hamilton
21 years old, 5'10, 189 pounds left handed.
Net player.

-Wood/Aubert had a 2-2 W-L ratio in the qualifications but were unable to qualify.
Jayce Wood
22 years old, 6'3, 204 pounds.
Big server.

Ariel Aubert
18 years old, 6'1, 191 pounds.
Essentially a net player.

-Jamil/Shelley too had a 2-2 W-L ratio at the Britannuals.
Marcel Jamil
17 years old, 6'2, 176 pounds, left handed.
Jamil is an excellent all-round player.

Lynton Shelley
20 years old, 5'7, 170 pounds.
Shelley is an all-round player.

-Faure/Leon played a spectacular performance in the Britannuals as they made it to the doubles round of 16.
Branson Faure
27 years old, 5'8, 186 pounds.
Faure is a serve-and-volley type of player.

Anselme Leon
23 years old, 5'11, 182 pounds.
All-round player.

Those were the Madesene doubles players, now back to you, Levi!

GANDO: Thank you Stephanie. A reminder from NSHQ that the Premier League does begin tomorrow; 10 clubs are to play tomorrow, and the remaining 10 will play Sunday. “Q Week”
Volatus Millenium Sports Complex
City Centre, Ceni
Court #6
Sunday afternoon

There are five Andromedans at Court #6 this afternoon. Three of the four women are already in the main draw. The fourth, Kate Logan, won her match this morning rather easily against a dude from some country called Kablooeyland or some such. Logan, Esperanza Cho, Erin Trent and Kate Jackson are all watching the fifth player, Johnnie Foster, play Nathania Faraz from a country called Miss World Island. Foster is up 5-2 in the second set.

After losing nine straight games, Faraz finally held serve. Foster has been content to simply hold serve for the remainder of the match. Faraz is up 15-love. She serves. Foster returns and charges the net. Faraz attempts to hit the ball past Foster, but Foster lunges and hits the ball to where it just clears the net.

“Fifteen-all!”

Foster dusts himself off. He looks into the stands and sees his four Andromedan colleagues. Foster gets a second wind. He’s going to try to win the match with Faraz serving.

Faraz’s next two serves are faults. The sparse crowd senses that Foster could very well win on Faraz’s serve. Foster looks across court at Faraz. He sees that she is frustrated. Foster recognized the look on her face. It was the same look he had on his face during qualification in Hamilton. Faraz serves. Foster’s return comes off the edge of his racquet and lands well out of bounds.

“30-all.”

Foster is already up a break and has the match in hand. He looks across at his opponent, who appears weighed down by frustration. Foster decides to win the match on serve. He decides to show mercy.

A few minutes later, Foster is up 40-love. It’s match point. The few spectators, Foster and Faraz all know that the match will be over in a few seconds.

Foster serves. Faraz makes a half-hearted attempt to return, but she hits the ball into the net. The spectators clap politely.

“Game. Set. Match. Foster!”

Foster shakes hands with Faraz, who appears relieved that the match is over. He then looks over at his doubles partner, who mouths the words ‘good job.’

Foster doesn’t know what to make of his new doubles partner, Kate Logan. All he knows is that he’d rather play WITH her than AGAINST her. He isn’t sure that she would have shown mercy to Nathania Faraz.

Qualification Begins
Ceni

Volatus Open is begin with Qualification Round match. After 2 matches, 2 Pemecutanian singles who have to compete in Qualification Round gets a mixed result.

The more favored player, Indah Susanti has to struggling in her first 2 matches. Won her first match against Kaboomlandian, Noel Whyte, she then lost her second match against Alvin Syahta of Miss World Island in a tirelessly 3 sets match. Won the first set, she lost the next 2 sets to Syahta that lead to her lost. The result makes her stranded in the 3rd place of Group 3. A win in last match against Adebowale Gilliam of Madesu will secure her position in the Main Round.

While on the other hand, Oka Sulastra show great play after won his first 2 matches. Facing Tom Welton of Ameraksia, Oka Sulastra won easily in 2 sets by 6-3; 6-1. In the second qualification day, he met Housni Djokov of Alma Atta. Although Djokov surprise Sulastra in the first set but he didn't stand long. Sulastra gives his best performance and outplayed Djokov in the second set. Djokov didn't won a single game in second set and give the match to Sulastra. The last match is crucial for Sulastra. Facing Hunter Roberts of Electrum who also get the same point with him. A win will secure his position in the Main Round.

On the other side of competition, Pemecutanian double teams are automatically qualified to the Main Round. It is the first time for both teams and also a surprise for Eka Putrawan/Dwi Ratmadi. But both teams have to show that they worth their position.

Qualification Day 2 of Volatus Open tennis CourtReport

MALAMBA: Welcome to all viewers to this CourtReport coverage of day 2 of Volatus Open qualification week, I'm Pemphero Malamba. The first and second days of this qualification week were somewhat victorious for Madesene players. First Madesene to play today was Image Adebowale Gilliam taking on Image Noel Whyte of Kaboomlandia, when Whyte started off very well in the first set, being able to claim it quite easily, then Gilliam put in a lot of effort in order to successfully claim the next two, making it a very entertaining match for the crowd and ending it with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over the Kaboomlandian.

-Next in group 3 we had Image Mayeso Kayden playing on Image Tyler Martin of Kaboomlandia. Kayden did not have any trouble holding serve and demonstrated quality ground stroke play against Martin, claiming a straight-set win of 6-1, 6-2 over Martin.

-In group 5 we had Image Rafferty Henri taking on Image Topaz Ferlik of Alma Atta. Ferlik held on serve up until when both players were at 4-all; Henri managed to break his serve to claim the first set. Henri continued his momentum onto the second set, successfully claiming a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Alma Attan.

This has been a CourtReport brought to you by Primus, Jonah's Creek, Avian, and Nia. I'm Pemphero Malamba, and this is NSHQ. Thanks for watching!

“Q Week – Day 2”
Volatus Millenium Sports Complex
City Centre, Ceni
Court #7
Monday evening

Yesterday was a cakewalk for Johnnie Foster compared to this morning. He faced Lyandra Uylagra of Alma Ata in a match that lasted nearly three hours. Foster was able to hold serve for the whole match. Ulyagra held serve until the eleventh game of the opening set. Foster also broke Ulyagra early in the second set. He held serve until the second set, and the match was over.

It wasn’t as easy as it looked. Foster was pushed to deuce three times during his final service game. By the time the match was over, it felt like a three set match.

After resting in his hotel room, Foster and Esperanza Cho ate a late lunch before meeting Erin Trent and Kate Jackson at Court 7. Kate Logan is facing wily veteran Deanne Smith of Electrum. News got around that Logan won the opening set 6-1. Once people heard about this people from across the Complex flocked to Court 7. By the Time Foster and Cho got to Court 7, Smith was serving for the second set.

Foster sits next to Jackson. Cho sits on Foster’s other side.

“Hey, Johnnie, why we never go out to lunch, mon?” Jackson uses an exaggerated Jamaican accent.

“I can trust myself with young Miss Cho,” Foster says. “She appreciates my position. She’s a Catholic, so she understands what it is to keep the faith.”

“You afraid there, Johnnie,” Kate says. “I give you something you’ll never forget. You’ll kick them big ol’ white girls like a bad habit.”

“That’s why I went with Miss Cho,” Foster says. “She’s innocent. She’s not an evil Jezebel like you.”

“Stop it, you two,” Trent says. Trent enjoys Foster and Jackson’s exchanges almost as much as Foster and Jackson themselves, but she is more interested in watching the match.

“Game & Set. Smith.”

It’s four games into the second set. Logan has an advantage on Smith’s serve after three deuces. Logan and Smith have held serve so far, but Logan clearly has momentum. She shut out Smith in her last service game and is wearing Smith down now. Smith serves. Logan hangs back, just behind the base line. Logan rifles a return past Smith that paints the side line.

“Game. Logan”

The crowd is a bit more animated. Logan, the newcomer, is up 3-1 in the final set.

Eight games into the final set, Logan looks as if the she’s going to win the match on Smith’s serve. Smith appears frustrated both with her game and her opponent. She’s down 5-2 and is down 30-40.

Logan looks over at her colleagues. Johnnie Foster smiles as if he is confident that Logan will win this. Erin Trent and Kay Jackson both give encouraging looks. Esperanza Cho is whispering something into Foster’s ear. Logan doesn’t like that 16-year-old Esperanza Cho appears to be somewhat intimate with Foster.

Logan redirects her jealousy against Deanne Smith as Smith serves. Logan rifles a shot toward Smith’s head. Smith protects her head with her racquet. The ball bounces on the top of the net. Logan runs up to the net and makes a lob above Smith’s head. The lob lands just inside of a corner.

“Game. Set. Match. Logan.”

As the crowd cheers, Esperanza Cho whispers something into Foster’s ear.

“I told you, Johnnie. She’s really jealous.”

“You think that she thinks we’re…”

“You should hear her when you’re not around,” Cho says. “Johnnie this and Johnnie that. She thinks you’re the Bee’s knees.”

“Really?” Foster asks. “But she knows that we’re just tennis partners.”

“I think she has other ideas,” Cho says.

Qualification Result
Ceni

On the last day of Qualification Round, another Pemecutanian single player secure his position in the Main Round of Volatus Open. It is Oka Sulastra who reach Main Round tournament for the second times this year after Neu Engollon Open. While the more favored Indah Susanti has to going home early after losing her last match.

Facing Gilliam was a tight match for Susanti. In the first set both players give their best performance that lead to tie-break. Gilliam successfully force 6-6 deuce but Susanti takes the last game and won the set. In the second set, Gilliam seems to be a bit more superior with Susanti makes numerous unforced errors. Gilliam takes the set by 6-3. Susanti tried to rise up in the third set and give powerful back hand to halt Gilliam match point. But unfortunately, a widen shot by Susanti gives Gilliam the victory point. Adebowale Gilliam then reach Main Round and facing 6th seeded, Lance Mance of Britonisea.

Sulastra also has to go through a tight 3 sets before securing his position in the Main Round. Roberts was over the top at first and easily beaten down Sulastra. But Sulastra rise up in the second set and force 5-5 deuce. Roberts then equal the position by 6-6 before Sulastra takes the set by 7-6. The third set also finished in a tie-break. But this time Sulastra was more prepared and he able to takes the last 2 games to win the match by 7-5. With this result, Sulastra will join Ngurah Putra Muliawan and Luh Putu Yundari in the Main Round.

Preparing for the Main Round, Ngurah Putra Muliawan will be facing Martin Bond of Madesu. While Luh Putu Yundari will be playing against Charles Sayers of United States Devonta. Qualifier, Oka Sulastra will meet Peter P Larry of Britonisea. In Double Competition, a hard match will be played by Oka Sulastra/Luh Putu Yundari. The team will be facing 1st seeded, Elia Xal/Fia Xal of Ceni. While Eka Putrawan/Dwi Ratmadi will meet Leo Gary/Ricardo Toli of Britonisea. Electrum Lawn Tennis Association News

Our chances for the Volatus Open

With most of the Electrum leaders in the ranking on holiday, and on professional development (furthering the skills for the Cenial Masters), the Volatus Open is now underway. The ELTA, preferring to send those on the rise as well as novices into Tier 2 events, has sent a delegation of just seven players into the Volatus Open, with two already eliminated. Those are Hunter Roberts, the newest player on the Electrum team (send to redress the gender balance of the team), who narrowly lost the decisive match on the final day in three sets, 6-1 7-6 7-5 in one of the closest matches of the competition. A tough tiebreak in the second set -- lost due to a few forehand errors in what is normally Robert's signature move levelled the match at one set apiece. The games were tit-for-tat, but ultimately, Roberts lack of experience was what decided his match, notably being exhausted in the final few points, and not bothering to go for the balls he would have gone for earlier in the match. The lack of steam after three days of playing in a professional tournament will bode well for him in time.

In another bracket, Deanne Smith lost her decisive match on the second day, this time to eventual group winner Kate Logan from the Andromedan Islands. Smith, who eventually took the match to three sets, ultimate lost, with the results being 1-6 6-3 2-6. Smith could not hold onto the momentum which she gained in the second set, and despite a valiant effort, she was effortlessly outplayed by Logan. A stunning final point sealed the deal for the promising Andromedan, cutting the Electrum single's field in half from four to two. Despite that setback, Smith will remain in the Volatus in the time being, to compete in the doubles competition with her long-time partner (who recently retired from the singles game), Joan Levitt.

In terms of the first round of competition, Malcolm Press will go up against Kay Jackson, a match surely to be interesting as they have never faced each other before. Another match will be up-and-coming Electrum talent Carmichael Brown, who will go up against Elejamie's Ethan Stokes. These two hard-hitters will surely make some interesting tennis. In the doubles, Electrum already has two qualified teams, the Cassington sisters and Joan Levitt/Deanne Smith. Smith and Levitt will go up against the Euroslavian pair of Sofia and Mateo, whilst the Cassington sisters have the assignment of the Elejamie pair of Aldia and Bukowski. The question is, will the Electrumites be able to sure up more ranking points in the lead up to the next grand slam of the year? A seeding or a high ranking is imperative for success, as more time is spent resting rather than qualifying, and there is less of a chance of facing a high seed in the early rounds of the tournaments. Only time will tell.

Today was the last day of the qualification rounds here at the Volatus Millenium Sports Complex in City Centre, Ceni, where Image Adebowale Gilliam took on Image Indah Susanti of Pemecutan. Susanti and Gilliam played a very entertaining first set, as they both successfully held on serve and demonstrated very high quality play. They both ended up in a first set tie-break, and Susanti, while tied at 3-all, managed to break Gilliam after an unforced error from him, allowing Susanti to claim the set. Gilliam improved his play, particularly his serve in the second and third sets, as he concluded, after 3 hours and 12 minutes of intense and entertaining play, with a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over Susanti. Gilliam has also been announced qualified for the early rounds. Gilliam is to take on Image Lance Mance of Britonisea in the first round.

-Image Mayeso Kayden played a marathon match against Euroslavian Image April Carrion today. Carrion started off excellent being able to hold serve and demonstrate quality ground-stroking, as she was able to claim a 6-4 set. In the second set Kayden responded from his loss in the first set by improving his serve and ground stroke, as he too was able to claim a set. The final set was a decider set; very lengthy but entertaining. The last set lasted for roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes, as Carrion and Kayden fought very hard to stay in the match. In the end, Carrion managed to break Kayden's serve at 7-all, ending with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 over Kayden.

-In group 5 played Image Rafferty Henri and Image Laura Meyer of Elejamie. Henri started off the match very well keeping a decent hold of serve, only dropping 3 games. Meyer easily took the second when Henri's unforced errors began to pile up. Henri got himself back together in the final as he was able to claim a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win over Meyer. Henri was also promoted to play in the early rounds. Henri will be taking on number 5 seed local favorite Image Botack Andiam.

The Bristol Hotel
City Centre, Ceni
Thursday evening

The five Andromedan Tennis players were supposed to meet for dinner at the Bistro, a restaurant on the ground floor of the Bristol Hotel in City Centre, about two blocks away from the tennis facility.

Erin Trent, Kay Jackson, Esperanza Cho and Kate Logan were all sitting at a table. The fifth place was empty. Johnnie Foster was supposed to be waiting for them, but he was running late.

The ladies all sit down. A waiter gives them their menus. All four wanted to talk about one subject.

“So, how’s Johnnie,” Kay Jackson finally asks.

“I don’t know,” Kate says. “He’s been very quiet about the loss. I’m concerned.”

“It was a touch match,” Esperanza Cho says. “Losing in a tie-break like that. Tammie Brown just had his number.”

“Why don’t you know, Kate,” Erin Trent asks. “He’s your doubles ‘partner.’”

“That’s the thing. Outside of practice, we don’t talk much.”

“By the way, congratulations Kate. You’ll join me and Esperanza in singles. Three for three in Q, you’ve got momentum.”

“Thanks. The last two matches were hard, but I’ve been fortunate.”

“What about Johnnie? You think he’s all right?”

“I don’t think you have to worry,” Esperanza Cho says.

“How’s that?”

“You all know that Johnnie’s devout,” Cho says. “He’s already put himself in an awkward position. One guy and four women, and his religion is important to him.”

“He’s serious about that?” Kay Jackson is surprised. “Most of the Baptist Ministers I know don’t practice what they preach. They’re pimps and con men with robes.”

“And he’s been with Britt Mack since Hamilton.”

Everyone at the table is quiet. Britt Mack, the best singles player in the Allied States, is 6’3”. Jackson and Logan were both a bit jealous of Britt Mack even before finding out that Foster was serious about her.

“But they’re so different,” Logan said. Logan is nearly 6’ tall herself. “Johnnie is so dark. Britt Mack starts turning pink at the hint of sunlight. Plus, she’s huge.”

“They’re like Ray and Hayley,” Esperanza says. “Russ and Lupe. Jack and Myrtle.”

“Not quite,” Trent says. “Those people all suck at singles.”

“But, they play much better together. That’s my point.”

“And you don’t want to use Knox or Jack Russell as examples. Knox is injured, Lupe and Myrtle are both pregnant and Jack… I don’t know what he’s doing.”

“Have you ever talked to Britt Mack?” Esperanza Cho defends Britt Mack. “She’s pretty smart. She’s going to be a senior at the University of Joppa, and she’s only 19.”

The other three ladies aren’t really interested, but Cho continues.

“Johnnie’s told me that Britt’s been to his church. It’s serious.”

“It won’t last the summer,” Kay Jackson says, dismissively.

“He’s got her going to his church?” Logan laughs “What a sight. This huge giant marshmallow woman sitting in the middle of a whole bunch of black folks…”

As the rest of the women talked, Esperanza looks up and sees Foster walk into the restaurant. She thought that Foster was wise to keep his distance from the girls. Johnnie was handsome, but he was serious about his religion and serious about Britt Mack. Esperanza understands why he keeps Kate Logan and Kay Jackson at arm’s length.

After Tammie Brown won her third match, she ran into April Carrion after her nail biting third match up against Mayeso Kayden. It came down to either player having the possibility of taking the entire match within a few moves. Thankfully, April came out on top, but unfortunately, Tammie Brown and April Carrion face each other in the first round of the tournament.

"Congratulations on the win, April." as Tammie put her arm around April, giving her a hug.

"Thanks, it shook me up a bit, but I'm ready to move on to the tournament."

"Well..." as Tammie frowned, "We're ...kinda going against each other in the first round."

April simply facepalmed. This is her luck, yet again. Having to go against Tammie Brown, when in the past, she had been knocked out by Tammie in a very similar situation. The difference this time is that Tammie is coming off a high profile final four from her previous tournament appearance. She has momentum riding in her favor. She also never lost a set in the group stage, through her consistent play.

Tammie attempted to cut the conversation short, because it was obvious that April was already feeling uncomfortable about it.

"Gentleman, start your engines. And may the best woman... win!" as Tammie began to walk away.

"Oh, and one more thing." chimed in April, wishing to get the last word in. "Don't fuck it up", giving a wink over to Tammie, to which she laughed.

Kenya Michaels also advanced automatically into the tournament based on their previous successes, and starts the first round off against a tough opponent, Elizabeth Hines. She's really going to have to pull out all the stops if she's going to advance further into the tournament. A victory here would prove that she is a force to be reckoned with. Her fans back in Arcadia are rooting for her by tweeting her motto, "It's not what you say, it's what you do!"

Tennis
A rhythmic sport, tennis is -
with its bounces of balls,
clatter on court,
reverberating rackets,
crowds chanting for their favorite player -
"Ole, ole, ole" -
The whine of the vuvuzela howling,
Like a wolf in the night,
Calling for his kids to come home
to their father, to
sate his loneliness

A convivial sport, tennis is -
The crowds chanting together,
Crying together,
Celebrating together,
Moaning at their player's loss together
On the court,
The doubles teams work harmoniously
Together, volleying,
Striking, stabbing,
Parrying, like two fencers,
engaged in hopeless combat in which
Neither can expect to prevail -
but one must.

Yara Sofia/Alexis Mateo and Kandy Ho/Queen Bee Ho both automatically qualified in the doubles tournament, and face off against Joan Levitt/Deanne Smith and Athena Miladelta/Valerie Melitza in the first round. Both doubles teams qualified for the last tournament and made a run for the title. This time around, they've got even more motivation to push further into the competition. Tammie Brown has already made a name for herself within the international singles community, and both of these teams are looking to take the lead for the best Euroslavian doubles team.

Let's be honest though, Yara and Alexis were raised in a different culture and have a different first language than most, and even then, they don't understand each other. It all comes to to actions rather than simply relying on words, because when you're in the heat of the moment, and you're with the right person, things will gel together as they should. That's when you know that the person you're partnered with, although slightly crazy, is the right person for you. The bond that Yara and Alexis have, always being the outsiders growing up, is absolutely incredible. They are in it to win it and to show that even the outsiders, people no one would expect to come to close to winning, can strive for a goal that may seem daunting. Above all, they will give everything they have to advance.

Kandy Ho/Queen Bee Ho are really building steam after the last two tournaments, and this one is only going to become stronger. If the team continues to work as well as they have in the past, they'll be able to climb up the rankings charts. It can't stop there though, it needs to push beyond their comfort zone. It needs to put new pressure on the team to see exactly how bonded the teammates are. Situations like this will only be able to make a team stronger or it will completely break them. ""Being broken" is not an option," states Queen Bee Ho, "Winning is our only option."

Round of 28 Volatus Open tennis CourtReport

GANDO: Today was not a good day for 2/3 remaining Madesene men in the round of 28; Image Rafferty Henri losing to Image Botack Andiam of Ceni 4-6, 3-6 and Image Martin Bond losing a decider match to Image Ngurah Putra Muliawan of Pemecutan 7-6, 3-6, 7-9.

It is Image Adebowale Gilliam who is the remaining Madesene in the tournament. Taking on Image Lance Mance of Britonisea both players fought hard in the first set maintaining their service games as well as their ground strokes very well. This kind of play ended up being a first set tie-break, where Mance and Gilliam played ever-so evenly. Both players put on a marathon tie-break; in the end Gilliam took the first set with 12-10 points in the tie-break after a winner. The second set is where Gilliam practically dominated the court, enabling a 7-6, 6-2 win over Mance. Gilliam is to play Image Esperanza Cho of The Andromeda Islands in the 2nd round.

This has been a CourtReport brought to you by Primus, Jonah's Creek, Avian, and Nia. I'm Levi Gando, and this is NSHQ. Thanks for watching!

Andromeda News Network
Good Morning Andromeda
Sports Coverage – The Volatus Open
Saturday Morning

Mace Gumbel reports from Andromeda News Network Studios in Andromeda City. Footage from yesterday accompanies Gumbel’s commentary.

“Yesterday morning, Ray Thomas and Hayley Van Pelt met with President Joe Clark and guests the Cabinet at Todd House. The Hamilton Open was the first time that an Andromedan duo had won an International Tennis Title in over 20 years. Ray Thomas spoke in front of family and friends.”

“We have been fortunate to have the support from fans across the nation. I sincerely hope that we represented the Andromeda Islands well during Hamilton.”

“And we hope to attend a lot more of these in the future.” Van Pelt added.

“For more on the pursuit of another title for Andromedan Tennis, we go to Dave Bishop and Lucius Webb at the Volatus Open.”

Bishop and Webb stand outside of the Volatus Millenium Sports Complex in Centre City, Ceni.

“With Lucius Webb, this is Dave Bishop, reporting on an interesting initial day at the Volatus Open for the Andromedan contingent. Singles competition started yesterday.

Footage of the matches accompanies Bishop and Webb’s commentary.

Kay Jackson played Electrumite Malcolm Press and looked confident during the first half of the match.”

“True, Dave. But Malcolm Press has played in more than a few tournaments. He, as much as anyone, knows that losing a close opening set can be a big downer. Instead, he recovered and won the second set.”

“Press controlled the second third sets, winning 6-4 in the 3rd. At the same time, Esperanza Cho was playing Shania Twain, a qualifier from Amerikasia. We talked to Cho after the match.”

“Sometimes, qualifying can be a great momentum builder going into the opening round. It was something I was aware of. It could have been easy to feel overconfident, but at this level, every match is an important one.”

“Cho recovered from losing the opening set late and held on to an early break in the second.”

“It’s always good to know that all the competition on the pro tour is tough. No cakewalks at this level.”

“Cho won 7-5 in the deciding set. Among the evening matches was a duel between Andromedan qualifier Kate Logan and Joanna Cosby of Devonta.”

“All three Andromedans played close opening sets, and Logan’s was as close as it could get, winning 13-11 in the tie-break and taking an early break in the second. Logan was one of five qualifiers to advance to the Sweet 16, winning 7-6, 6-3.”

“Let’s look at the singles draw. What looks interesting to you, Lucius?”

“The whole draw looks interesting, Dave. The Top 4 seeds all received byes, but Johmer Vales faces Kate Logan. Logan has won four straight matches while this will be Vales’ first match.”

“We don’t want that Q-Week Momentum in all the matches, do we Lucius?”

“Not if we want Esperanza Cho to advance. She outlasted Shania Twain and will face another newcomer, A. Gilliam of Madesu.”

“Also, we look forward to watching doubles today. What about the doubles teams.”

“Honestly, Jackson’s loss may have been the best thing for her doubles chances. As for Johnnie Foster and Kate Logan, hopefully, Foster lends a helping hand as Logan is still in the singles draw. We’ll see what’s up with doubles, Dave.”

“With Lucius Webb, this is Dave Bishop with Andromeda News Network.”

In the next round, Charles Sayer will be played againt 1st seeded, Ardil Navsal of Ceni.

In the second set, Muliawan take the first step and gives little room for Bond to explore his playing style. Trap in Muliawan way of played, Bond struggle to compete and eventually lost 3-6 to Muliawan. The third set show a very hard set where both players give their best performance and interchangeably topped one another. But Muliawan able to take the last 2 games to secure his position and win the match.

Shadows move over the heart
Sorrow, sadness, pain
Of things that have been done
And things that were not done
Shadows take over the heart
Shadows of what could have been
But wasn't,
Shadows of what you should have done
And what you shouldn't have

Guilt moves over the heart
Guilt over the wrong things
That happened
Guilt over the right things
That didn't happen
Guilt takes over the heart
For things that can never
Be changed, things
That lie in the past,
Lie in the present,
Lie in the future -
Done in the past,
Agonized over in the present,
Brooded over in the future

Rain moves over the heart
Tears of sadness
For the things that happened
To other people and
To you
That you could have prevented
But you didn't
Now you cry, and
The tears wash away the sins,
The tears was away the anguish
Rain takes over the heart
Rain takes with it
Those sins, that anguish,
That mental incapacitation
Of things that happened
Wrongly, badly, poorly,
The rain washes away the sins
And a new day comes.

Dawn moves over the heart,
A brand new day
After refreshing sleep
Now forgetting the things that happened,
At the same time,
Remembering the things that happened,
But letting bygones be bygones
Dawn takes over the heart
Those things happened
And life moves on
Life moves on with the dawn
and dusk,
Life moves on with the day
and night,
Life moves on with the good
and bad,
Life moves on only with acceptance
When the dawn moves over the heart.

Shadows move over,
Take over,
Guilt moves over,
Takes over,
Rain moves over,
Takes over,
Dawn moves over,
Takes over,
The cycle begins anew
Never forgotten,
Never remembered
Just continues
Life moves on,
Bad things happen,
Good things happen.
To accept it is to be human
