Staduim Information

Number of Teams: 12
Number of Matches: 20
Number of Venue's: 9
Largest Venue: Scottopian Isles National Staduim (100,000)
Smallest Venue: Queens Waterside Park (25,000)
Average Vevue Capacity: 50,563
Number of Average Games Per Venue: 2.3

Staduim Name: Scottopian Isles National Stadium
Image
Location: Scottopia City, Capitola
Capacity: 100,000
Home to: Scottopia City & Scottopian Capitols
Opening Year: 2007
About: A most impressive sight, located just outside the capitol city's financial district is the largest venue within the Royal CommonWealth is the Scottopian Isles National Stadium, or 'ScotStand' as the local population tends to refer to it as. The stadium as it is today was constructed on top the ground that once hosted the former Scottopia National Staduim which was built in 1926. When several safety concerns were addressed in the early 2000's, a consortum between the Scottopian Isles Football Assocition and the government led to the development of the National Staduim with an increase from 60,000 to 100,000 capacity.

'ScotStand' is the center for football within the Scottopian Isles, with all domestic tournament finals being played there. It also hosts a majority of the National Teams home games when playing international opponents. Being so, the staduim contains a Scottopian football museum, adjecent training complex and a resturant overlooking the field with a veiw of Scottopia City.

Staduim Name: James Watt Park
Image
Location: New Greenock, Inverclyde Isles
Capacity: 75,000
Home to: New Greenock Football Club & New Greenock United
Opening Year: 1989
About: During the 1980s, the 2 teams from New Greenock were dominating the Scottopian Premiership with both teams winning a combined 21 of 30 avaliable trophies during the decade. Both being historicaly established teams, the idea that their current grounds were to small for each of the New Greenock fanbase was evident to both United & FC. Although the cross-city rivals may just be the most fierce in the Royal CommonWealth, both teams came together to create their new staduim. At was once an aged horse racing track, the grounds were raised and the current stadium was established which at until 2007, was the largest staduim in the Scottopian Isles.

Staduim Name: Royal Coliseum
Image
Location: Urquhart, South Scottopia
Capacity: 70,000
Home to: Urquhart Rampants
Opening Year: 1961
About: In an effort to bring prestige back to the city after the transfer of the nations capitol to Scottopia City, officals for Urquhart envisioned a grand stadium to which they could one day host the famed Astyrian Games or the Olympics. In collaberation with King William, the city erected the Royal Coliseum close to the southern shoreline to catch the veiw of the ocean liners than frequented the Scottopian waters. Although the Olympic dream has yet to come true, the stadium was host to the 1966 & 1982 Astyrian Games to grand audiance at home and abroad. While it is one of the largest venues in the Royal CommonWealth that only one premiership team calls their home turf, the arena is also known to be the second home to the national squad.

Staduim Name: Estadio de San Francisco
Image
Location: Milpitas Bay, San Joaquin Isles
Capacity: 55,000
Home to: Milpitas Bay & Selecao San Francisco
Opening Year: 1998
About: The largest staduim built outside the main islands of Scottopia or Inverclyde, the Estadio de San Francisco is the pride of the San Joaquin Isles with their distinct varied culture that is found nowhere else in the Royal CommonWealth. But just like the main islands, the love for the beautiful game is just as strong where the grounds hold the distinction of having the most games played by the National Team outside of the Isle of Scottopia. As with most within the Council of San Joaquin, a majority of the population speak Spanish aswell as Scots-English giving the stadium its Hispanic name and alternate design than the norm within the country.

Staduim Name: MacKenzie Dome
Image
Location: MacKenzie City, Northern Highlands
Capacity: 45,000
Home to: MacKenzie City & MacKenzie WhiteCaps
Opening Year: 1983
About: With the conditions of the Northern Highlands being a vast differnce than the tropical beaches and rainforests of the rest of the islands, the Scottopian Isles 5th largest city constructed the MacKenzie Dome, the only indoor arena within the country. With the bubbled constuction of the venues roof, it keeps the elements that usually harass MacKenzie City for the better part of the year that interupted games in the decades before. Another staduim that is home to two teams within the Scottopian Isles Football Association, it gives an easy advantage to the home sides at the elevation of 5,500ft, the highest elevation of any Royal CommonWealth city, which typically wears down the opponents. Although not home to many national team games, they do use the training facilities to prepare for oversea's games that could also be at higher elevation.

Staduim Name: Laudrup Arena
Image
Location: East Kilbride, Midlothian
Capacity: 35,000
Home to: East Kilbride Football Club
Opening Year: 1985
About: The largest staduim within the Council of Midlothian, Laudrup Arena has just celebrated its 30 year anniversry after a major revenovation project. With East Kilbrides relegation a number of years back, the city has had trouble filling it to capacity. One of the few times a staduim has downgraded its size, the grounds went from 42,000 to 35,000 and created more special box suites and seating arrangements with a variety of stores and resturants for those to visit while waiting for next weekends game. It also entertains concerts as well as the local baseball & gridiron teams.

Staduim Name: Morton Staduim
Image
Location: Cappielow City, Auchendowrs Isles
Capacity: 25,000
Home to: Cappielow Cavaliers
Opening Year: 1995
About: Built into the rockface of an older quarry, Morton staduim sits above Cappielow City with great veiws down to the oceans edge. With the grounds not having a Eastern or Western section, the staduims design is unique and found nowhere else within Astyria. The 3 teirs tower above the playing field bringing an intense feel to the crowd watching from the biggest arena in the Auchdowrs isles.

Staduim Name: Rio Tinto Staduim
Image
Location: Davanzas, Wasatch Isles
Capacity: 25,000
Home to: Davanzas United
Opening Year: 2011
About: Just as Morton Staduim sits above the city it calls home, as does Davanzas Rio Tinto Stadium in the Wasatch Isles with the exception at a much higher elevation at 1,800ft. Although not to the height of MacKenzie City, this is still an obstacle to most visiting teams that play here. One of the more recently built within the Royal CommonWealth, it is also the most southernly located premiership grounds bringing a differnce in weather aswell as its height. The design of the venues roof moves with the contour of the nearby ridgeline that is perched above the city of Davanzas where from a lower elevation, can look like snow-capped mountain tops.

Staduim Name: Queens Waterside Park
Image
Location: Port Elisabeth, Huntington Isles
Capacity: 25,000
Home to: Port Elisabeth
Opening Year: 2013
About: The newest staduim in the Scottopian Isles and one of the most unique in Astyria, the Queens Waterside Park was constructed under direction from King Scott James who also designed the entire project. Built as a gift to his wife to host her hometowns local team home games, the Queens as it is sometime known, has been praised on numberous subjects. Floating platforms keep the pitch steady even during not so agreeable weather, but it does already claim the fact that more official game balls have been lost here than all other staduims combined.

With less than 2 weeks before the begining of the games at a banquet hall in the Schulte Manor Hotel in Scottopia City, various individuals gathered for the highly anticipated Group Drawings for the Copa de Scottopia. Leaders of nations, football managers, their coaching staff and players of today and days past, along with international celebrities & guests took part in the event where those within the football community brought the long awaited answers to what teams will play who in the tournament.

Being the host nation, the Royal CommonWealth of Scottopian Isles were exempt from the process already taking up position in Group A. However, Pot A contained the 4 higher ranked teams within the tournament which were the Blackhelm Confederacy, Bungussi, Jalafa & Polarus. Although 3 seeded positions remained, the fourth unchosen team from Pot A would default to Pot B which included the middle ranked teams of Cote de Coivre, Kwalawi & the Red River Free State. The final teams awaited in Pot C, which were the lower ranked teams of Ala Moana & Colchester Landing with the invited duo, Nova Deseret & San Joaquin Valley form outside Astyria.

Image
The pots were split into 3 groups for the higher seeded, middle and the invited/lower ranked teams

After a video screening of the past year in international football, starting with Pot B, the first team to join the Scottopian Isles in the group was the Red River Free State ceremoniously pulled by King Scott James. The two teams have never met on the football pitch before and would make for a great start up for the opening match at the National Staduim to kick off the tournament. Lucius Blackhelm of the Blackhelm Confederacy then pulled the next team to join the festivties and out of the draw came one of the invites, Nova Deseret, to complete Group A. The 2 leaders were the only Heads of State to choose teams for groups.

Next came another showing which was dedicated to the Scottopian game over the past year with speeches from players & staff from trophy winning teams and upon the importance of the game on the global scale. Afterward, famed Jalafan footballer Leostian Mesaldo who has been in retirement for over a decade now approached the stage in hopes to placing his country in Group B. However it was Bungussi that was chosen as the seeded team. They will play Kwalawi in New Greenock, who were chosen by the SIFA Chairman, followed by Ala Moana picked by the first of many football celebrities.

Image
Former Scottopian Isles Goalkeeper Phil McMalcom who played 1975-89, pulls Ala Moana from Pot C

Group C was opened up by Polarus taking the pole position that would start them up in the high altitudes of the MacKenzie Dome along with Cote de Coivre as the last remaining team within Pot B. The last squad to join the group was San Joaquin Valley, who made the journey from outside Astyria to take part. Although the last remaining teams were evident, the last choice which was by current Scottopian Isles Manager Stuart Rafferty, would dictate who was the last seeded team. By luck of the draw the Blackhelm Confederacy earned the top spot and would be the home team during Group D's opening match at the Estadio de San Francisco in Milpitas Bay. They will be joined by Jalafa and Colchester Landing

Image
The event was also a chance to officially display the game ball for the tournament

Virtual tours of the stadiums were then presented to the audiance for the final video of the night, before the unveiling of the official game ball to be used in the games. Created by Adidos, the ball is made of lightweight material that enables for more percise touches on the ball to enhance the talents of the players. Finishing the night after the TV broadcasts had finished was a night of food, drink and music provided by the Scottopian hosts before the 300 players & staff from 12 seperate countries dispersed to their training grounds in the following days.

Following the night of celebrations that opened the tournament within the Scottopian Isles National Staduim the night before, the first game of the group stages is about to begin between the Scottopian Isles & Nova Deseret. Their is a shared history between the 2 nations, with Nova Deseret being former Scottopian territory, and it is surely to be a good one from both sides fans point of veiw. The hosts are heavy favorites to win the first game, as well as making it out of Group A in the prime position but todays game is Nova Deseret's chance to put themselves in the first place spot since both teams are expected to beat the other challanger in the group, the Red River Free State.

Last time the teams met was in a friendly almost 3 years ago, with only a handful of players still around from that era on both squads. The blues bested the reds 3-1 away in Nauvoo, the captiol of Nova Deseret last time, and they are sure to be looking to repeat that again in their own capitol, Scottopia City, and infront of the audiance watching at home and across Astyria. The 'Tartan Army' has shown up in full as the National Staduim is a sold out venue for the opening match, with 100,000 seats taken and enough press & foreign delegates wishing to grab their fair share of the game. All eyes will be on the players making their way to the pitch behind the referee team from Bungussi.

The Nova's didnt have enough up front in their first game of the Copa de Scottopia, where they slummed to a 2-0 defeat after what was an impressive first half against the hosts. Although the Scottopian Isles pressed hard in the introductory 45 minutes, they couldnt find the back of the net even though they kept their fair share of possesion and had numerous shooting chances to put themselves in the lead before the halftime whistle. Henderson #1, goalkeeper for the Nova Deseret side, made plently of saves to keep his squad in the running, but it was the outstanding defensive efforts by team captain, Millard #3 that kept the morale alive for the team in red, including an off the line clearance after a Scottopian freekick was arched inwards by McCulloch #7.

Before the half however, the duo of Walker #10 & Armstrong #11 did manage to put a scare into the home crowd after pouncing on a counter-attack following a corner where the Scottopian Isles had too many men pushed forward. Had not been for the heroics of Goulding #4 who made it down the pitch in time, it could have been a costly mistake for the hosting nation. It was unsure of how the managers earned their paychecks during the halftime break, but it was evident that manager Stuart Rafferty of the Bluebirds made his dissapointment clear as MacKenzie #21walked on the pitch in a new 3-4-1-2 formation in place of Peterson #9 .

The boys in red started the 2nd half with the ball and fell into a defesive composure, looking to take a point with them at the end of the match as the game reached the hour mark, but a slip up by Smith #6 on the wing allowed a surge of Scottopian players into the box where a cross by Van Drimmlin #8 found Baxters #10 waiting unmarked, where a one-touch strike left the Nova Deseret Goalkeeper standing still as the ball smashed into the netting in the 62nd minute. Soon after rookie player Green #8 made an awful tackle which landed him the first yellow card of the tournament, and set up the Scottopians for another free kick in close range.

As the defenders adjusted the wall, McCulloch #7, who would go on to win 'Man of the Match', again stepped up to the ball. This time however, insted of taking a shot he lobbed the ball which carried some hang time long into the box. A scuffle of players challanged for the ball, but it was Henandez #11 that managed the lucky strike that placed the blues into a comfortable 2-0 lead with just a quarter hour to go in the match. Both sides adjusted with subsitutes, with the Nova Deseretan squad augmenting their defense to stop another goal from the home side, bringing in Wagner #14 with midfielders Garcia #15 & Billard #16. Not too much excitment for Scottopian keeper Rimandos #1 as Nova Deseret failed to enter the attacking third for the rest of the game, but as the Bungussian referee annouced brought the contest to a close, the home crowd erupted into a roar of cheers and song following their teams win.

In the opening game for Group B, the small island nation of Ala Moana took on Kwalawi from the Hesperidesian heartland in New Greenock, Inverclyde Isles. As the players warmed up on the pitch below, news of the Scottopian Isles 2-0 win over Nova Deseret was blarred thru the speakers prior to the match, with a loud roar given from the Scottopians in attendance who filled a majority of the James Watt Staduim in the Royal CommonWealths 2nd largest city. A few dedicated sections turned up to be Kwalawi fans who had made the journey to watch their team compete in the tournament, waving their banners and playing Vuvuzela's that trumpeted above the 63,492 that had come to watch.

A good contingent of Ala Moana supporters were present however, many being ex-pats who had fled their homeland in the violence years prior. In fact, the only reason Ala Moana had a team present in the tournament was due to an operation perfromed by Scottopian Royal Commandos in which the team members, staff and their families still in danger were evacuated from the conflict and given shelter in the Royal CommonWealth, due to the corrupt government's ban on any unapproved travel. Ala Moanan players have trained here in the Inverclyde Isles ever since awaiting for this day. The team from the war-torn nation is the focus of many here during the games, as their fans show great enthusiam to have them play. Green, Red & Yellow has filled the arena as funny enough, both countries adorn the same national colors.

Of the 23 player rosters teams are given, the starting 11 for Ala Moana was made almost entirely of players from the Scottopian or Blackhelm football leagues, with a few players from their own leagues top 3 teams. After the players left the field to change into their uniforms, Ala Moana, being the home team emerged wearing their Green uniforms, compaired to Kwalawi's away yellow outfits. The teams allinged the byline of the pitch, along with the San Joaquin Valley referee team and the children of New Greenock who wore matching jerseys of the teams to play today. They sung their national anthems, and moved to their positions on the pitch. Kwalawi had won the kick-off and moved into attack almost immedietly with direct passing to the wing to and getting players down field.

A swift cross to the receivers in the box in the first minute catching the island defenders off guard almost cost them dearly early on had it not been for Kaeo #1, who was also the first team goalkeeper for the Cappielow Cavaliers, a team in the Scottopian Premiership. They had gained promotion by winning the First Division Championship in large help thru his efforts such as the early save. He looked down feild and sent the ball into action. Kwalawi were quick to respond to any 50/50 ball at which some of the home side midfield were lacking to pounce on. They may have all been on sides in foreign leagues better than Ala Moana, but limited practices together had limited their chance to mend before the tournament. Penitito #15, who plays for Fort Matilda Arsenal managed to get the ball into the attacking third for the first time for the Greens, but lost it in a bad pass forward. Such was the same for both teams, managing to get close yet not close enough, a real midfield battle for the game.

At 37 minutes though, Kwalawi defensmen managed to steal the ball and get it to their midfield. Their simple 4-4-2 formation was standing good against the pyramid formation the Ala Moanan's were using. The larger numbers in back was helping the lower ranked team, but in this case, a gap was located between Kitaoka #5 & Arakawa #6, both of the Kamehameha Surfriders, by the Kwalawi forward who struck the ball top corner on a good run past the keeper. The vuvuzela's erupted and colored confetti erupted from the away supporters who's cheers loudened as the Ala Moana/Scottopians quieted down. With that, they had the lead and Ala Moana was trailing going into half time.

Manager Able Igeguwa made a switch from the 5-3-2 formation to a 4-4-2 to have a better chance at catching the 50/50 chances they were lossing posseison too. He felt his under dog team was just as good as their competitors here in New Greenock, and if theyre chances were down to how the fared aginst the seeded team in the group, Bungussi. He switched out Kitaoka #5, who was blamed for not preventing the goal with Pollakop #7, from Lawehana Tributes, who was the only attacking player not from a foreign league. They moved onto the field for the 2nd half, and Kwalawi too had made some changes to their game plan. They hoped to increase their lead and hold off the island nations chance at getting out of the group stage.

But it was a differnt story on the pitch, as Ala Moana pressed forth in attempts to gain ground against the Hesperidesians. They had found a new sence in playing with each other, representing the best a divided country, mustered from all corners of its territory. The only player on the team from the Confederate Soccer League in the Blackhelm Confederacy, Kuimoana #16 from Paradise City, gained the ball on a run, passing it along to Malepei #22 which gathered great cheers from the crowd. Malepei #22 played for New Greenock United, one of the two teams that called the James Watt Staduim their home. One of the best teams in the Scottopian Premiership, he had gathered much experiance in his years and was argueably the best Ala Moana had.

Dribbling the ball, dancing around 2 players before meeting his next defender, whom attempted to take him down by grabbin his shirt, he broke free of any attempts to get the ball and a 1 on 1 with the Kwalawi goalkeeper left no option but to be goal bound. Slotting the ball into the low corner as the keeper dove over the shot, he turned away to begin celebrating with teammates as the staduim erupted in cheers. It seemed the whole crowd were on their feet as the team returned to play the final 10 minutes of the game. Both managers attempted to make subsitutes to counter each other but the final gameplay was lackluster as both team feared losing another goal. The final whistle was finally blown, to a cheer from the home fans again, the improbale had been acomplished. Expected to be a quick knock out, the boys in green withstood the onslaught from Kwalawi to gather a valuable point in the exchange, now it would be how each team fared against Bungussi to see who would gain promotion to the Quarter-Finals.

Coming off a 2-0 loss to the hosts, the Nova Deseret team was fired up to ensure they walked away from the match with a win in hopes to reach the Quarter-Finals. Manager Gary Herbert had thrown his best squad together for the match up against the Scottopian Isles and decided to put faith in the same men to walk on the pitch against the Red River Free State, including the subsitutes. The team attacked right from the begining to force the Red River Free State, playing in their away colors, into their defensive half. Young #9 set up an early chance by supplying Walker #10 in front of the box, but his efforts were saved by the Red River Goalkeeper. The teams jostled for about 20 minutes until the Novas started the scoring with a goal off a well placed cross. Young #9 again with the delivery, but it was Armstrong #11 on the receiving side this time as he placed the ball in the low right corner when the Goalkeeper aimed high, missing the ball.

It wasnt long after the kick-off the Reds were back at it again, with another goal by Armstrong #11 4 minutes later in the 32nd minute to place them 2-0 up. With that, they entered the half with a great advantage over the away side. The second half saw no changes for Nova Deseret, but 2 swaps for the Red River defense & midfield. The visitors did well by getting more attacking chances in the second half as the Nova Deseretians began to falter to the new subsitutes later in the game. By the 78th, the Red River Free State found the back of the net giving their supporters a reason to celebrate so far from home. While the fans chanted, the goalscorer grabbed the ball and ran it back to halfway point as if in an effort to give his team a better chance, but a Nova Deseret subsitution cancelled the time saving effort.

Johnstone #7 & Green #8 were swapped in the midfield for Garcia #15 & Billard #16 while Ryan #22 entered the pitch in replacement for Walker #10, and changing the formation to a 4-4-2 strategy. The Nova's were determined not to let another goal happen, and pressed harder in the final 10 minutes, with their efforts paying off with a great solo run by the the new subsitute Ryan #22 who placed the ball in the back of the net after beating 3 defenders & the keepers from Red River. As the final whistle blew, the players celebrated knowing they had the more than likely were going to make it into the next stage of the tournament, balancing out their goal differnce in the process. The lads would then look on to see how their group rivals would far against each other to see if they took 1st or 2nd in Group A

On their first ever outing in the Copa de Scottopia, the team from the San Joaquin Valley did exceptionally well to come back to win the match 3-2 much to the entertainment of most that attended the game at the Queens Waterside Park in Port Elisabeth. The unique staduim based on the waters edge was also host to an unique match were once Cote de Cuivre was up 2-1 to put their lost to Polarus behind them, but ultimatly failed at the end of the game were the ValleyBoys managed to squeek in a win.

Vukovic #10 opened the game up for San Joaquin Valley in the 24th minute to counter a goal by Cote de Cuivre that was just 9 minutes before. The lads from the east coast of Hesperidesia were dominant in the later plays but failed to manage a goal before half time. Both teams opted to save their subs for the 2nd half with no changes being made in the formations, but a loss in possesion by San Joaquin in the early moments encouraged a spike of attackers from Cote de Cuivre who put themselves 2-1 up by the end of the hour mark.

However, it was the talents of Gonzalez #11 who managed to find the back of the net twice in the final half hour before being subbed out for Martinez #17 with minutes to go after the striker was evidently tired. Manager Dave Shaw annouced his gratitude of the players holding out as long as they did on the pitch, refusing a sub until grabbing the win in the final moments. The game see's Cote de Cuivre eliminated from the tournament after 2 losses no matter what the result of the San Joaquin-Polarus is game this upcoiming weekend.
