E-League Season One Preview
Under construction

Image

It is the foundation year of the Electrum's premier domestic football league, the E-League. It has been a long time coming, but after a largely successful campaign in both the World Cup Qualification and the Cup of Harmony, Electrum Football has finally decided to create a new domestic league for the purposes of gaining publicity to the fledgling sport, as well as giving additional training and experience to those in the Electrum National Team. In the first season, the number of international players has been capped at three, but in time, this will be further reduced, to make E-League, one of the world class leagues in the entire multiverse.

The team compositions based on their city are as follows:
  • Two teams - Hamilton (Suns and Sandstorm), Centralis (Heart and Storm), Prescott (Club 24 and Wolves)
  • One team - Burnton, Pinkerton, Warburton, Agri, Kale Island, Sydenham, Port Grenville, Fairleigh, Somer, Auras

Image

As well as the top-flight competition, a parallel second division, named E-League 2 has been created, and will serve as a feeder onto E-League 1. It is projected that two teams at the bottom of E-League 1 will have the possibility to be relegated, and two teams at the top of E-League 2 have the possibility to be promoted. The bottom and top teams respectively will automatically move, whilst the second-last and second-best team will have a playoff to determine who will advance. This will be put into motion next season, as this season is the first season, and Electrum Football wants to avoid confusion. No teams in the second division has a foreign players. Also, third and fourth tiers will be added when necessary, and therefore, relegation/promotion arrangements will be made. But as stated above, there will be no promotions from E-League Two until the next season.

The following cities and townships have a team:
  • Portsmouth (Centralis), Eelak, Maryborough (N-E Commune), Kingsley, Marley Downs, Groenfield, Alterham, Sunshine (MeBet Corporation), Duneil, Massafras, Argentum, Agri, Argyle (Fernack River), Dunerton, Caladian, Merdian.

The Auras Golddiggers had an excellent start to the season, being on top of the leaderboard on the first matchday, thrashing the Warburton Rangers 2-0, the largest margin of the day, but their season would go downhill ever since that point before losing their next six matches, a draw, another loss before securing another victory against top half team Burnton 1963. By that point, it was all too late, as they dropped like a lead balloon to sixteenth position. FC Fairleigh had an excellent start, with Lojal National Team Player Clayton Huff, creating exciting opportunities for his team, giving the team an undeniable advantage in the goal difference stakes. Despite the teams starting on an equal footing, Fairleigh did well in securing veteran Huff. Pinkerton was closely behind on goal differential. The Centralis teams did excellently, with the Centralis Derby at Matchday 14 being resolved with a one-all draw, with Rylon Kron equalising for the Heart during injury time with a bicycle kick to save the day for the team, and regain a point.

Surprisingly, the Kale Island Dwarfs managed to be in fourth place at the midway stage of the competition, with accusations from other teams that they were unfairly rigging their pitches by releasing voodoo spirits on the opposing team before the match was to commence. Dismissed as hogwash by Electrum Football, the Dwarfs would again slowly fall down the ladder later on during the competition. The Hamiltonian and Prescottian teams failed to make an impact, as it seemed that their playing talent was diluted between two teams, a concern which would needed to be addressed next season. Warburton and Somer would need to up their game, whilst it was revealed that the Sydenham Meatworks Manager, Stephen Louie had accidentally placed a Semarland filter on his foreign players, and had recruited all of his players from Semarland. Grenville, Agri and Burnton 1963 had an excellent run, given their major city status and only one team representing their city. They also had excellent induction programs, but just could not defeat Fairleigh FC, the team to beat.

16 Auras Golddiggers Association 30 8 5 17 42 61 −19 29

By the end of the season, things had changed significantly. Lojal's Clayton Huff was injured after the matchup against Burnton 1963, where they subsequently lost 1-0. It was then a steep decline - the team which was defeated once in the first half of the season were defeated seven more times, just proving that no teams were invincible. Pinkerton FC stepped up their game to top the leaderboard, and becoming Electrum's first representative in the UICA competition. Electrum's Peter Watts from Pinkerton won the inaugural Golden Boot with 16 goals to his name, for the Kale Island Dwarfs whilst Carl Raines, was the star of Pinkerton, came a close second with 13 goals. Hamilton and Prescott teams still languished, with the notable exception of Club 24, who barrelled their way towards fourth place. Burnton and Somer rounded out the top four of the competition. On Matchday 29, Centralis Heart delivered a thumping of 4-0 over their Centralis counterparts, now cellar dwellers Centralis Storm to be the first winner of the Centralis derby, with Kron (TSA) and Mayer (ETM) playing a role, scoring a goal each and an assist. The rest of the other teams more-or-less stayed where they were from the half-way point of the season.

It has truly been a mixed bag of a season for Electrum. It was the first time ever that a full football season had been played, and attendances well and truly went up, with an average attendance of 15,000 per match in the beginning to 22,000 by the end of the season. It has been a great opportunity for players and coaches alike to test the waters before the threat of relegation looms next season. In saying that, here are the results of the second tier.

16 Mebet Corporation 30 17 4 9 50 34 +16 55

In this oft-forgotten competition, the second league had far less attention from the general media, but it enjoyed a large following in the small townships and cities which these teams were formed, and often fielded amateurs from around their local area. That was of course, with the exception of Mebet Corporation, a betting organisation, which chose to hire professional players from the Electrum National Team (albeit temporarily) to staff their team, which gave them an undeniable advantage in the rankings. Fernack River, surprisingly came second, with this isolated rural town apparently having the second best team of the second tier. But since Mebet Corporation had broken the rules regarding the roster eligibility of their team (it was quite unfair to bring on half the National Team to play a few games), their results were voided, but they would remain in the competition next season.

Friendship Cup
The competition which contains all of the teams of the E-League had 32 teams enter. There was first a group stage, of two teams from each tier, and then a race to the final. Here are the results:

E-League Season Two Preview

UICA Recap

On the first days of competition, in the Champions' Cup, Electrum's sole representative, Pinkerton FC defeated Ioania's Cogshall in a tight home-and-away fixture, with the Electrumites triumphant, winning 3-2 in aggregate terms. Carl Raines from The Calanian Union was once again a good asset to the team, showing off his record as he scored the two home goals which allowed them to topple Cogshall. Unfortunately, a hattrick was prevented by an act of god as it were, with a lightning strike hitting the ball as soon as Raines was to hit it into the goal for a third time. Luckily, no-one was hurt. In the Globe Cup, Club 24 defeated Skyline HC 3-2, the same margin as Pinkerton, with the exact same scorelines for both matches, 1-2 then 2-0. In the B Series, both Duneil Athletic and Groenfields faced a particularly unlucky draw, facing teams from The Sarian and Cosumar respectively. They would both lose and would not advance.

On the second round of competition, in the Champions' Cup, Pinkerton FC would lose to Bleak Rock's Hreindýrsal Stríðsmaður, whose sheer professionalism and maturity saw them thump Electrum 3-6, with the Electrumites losing 4-0 away in the Valhallan isle. Somer City and Surrounds in the Globe Cup upset a Tropicorp FC, a team favoured to win, whilst Club 24 lost a close match up to the Sunrisian Filipéia. Mainchin Provenza from the Sarian allowed a crucial equaliser on the home game, which allowed Filipéia to win overall 2-1. Finally in the B Series, Alterham smashed Yttribia's FC Oliviera 3-8, gaining four goals in each match.

In the Electrumite's final round, all remaining teams lost. Burnton 1963 would lose to North Spire HC, Pinkerton FC to Avenida Leal, and Somer City and Surrounds to San Solari FC. In the B Series, Alterham lost to Lidstrom West End, and Fernack River against Karela Sekhika. All in all, a not bad start for the Electrum teams, but it could be better.

It's a blank slate once again as the teams face against each other for the E-League title for the second season! Pinkerton FC, who were the winners last time -- will they be able to win again? And with the second season comes the threat of relegation! This is the first edition that relegation will be in effect, and teams will be relegated up and down based on their performance. To see who is promoted and relegated, see the format below.

The bottom and top teams respectively will automatically move, whilst the second-last and second-best team will have a playoff to determine who will advance. No teams in the second division will have access to foreign players. A third tier has also been established, and new teams will be joining E-League Two next season.

The following cities and townships have a team:
  • Portsmouth (Centralis), Eelak, Maryborough (N-E Commune), Kingsley, Marley Downs, Groenfield, Alterham, Sunshine (MeBet Corporation), Duneil, Massafras, Argentum, Agri, Argyle (Fernack River), Dunerton, Caladian, Merdian.
