Roster
Ice hockey isn't exactly the most popular sport in the Equestrian States. In fact, it's not even in the top ten for the largest attendance draws (falling even behind the perpetually pathetic Handball League). To assemble their national team roster, the EIHF again looked to the Equestrian Ice Hockey League for players. The EIHL includes some of the most non-equine players of any sport league in the Equestrian States, and the roster of the national team reflects this well.

Strategy & Lines
Teams in the EIHL generally are more focused on finesse and speed than others, but with several major exceptions. Thus, the Equestrian States national team will play a more attacking style than their competitors. The defense will look to pass the puck forward and keep it out of the Equestrian zone to minimize the chances opponents will get. Goaltending isn't exactly a strong suit for the Equestrian States, so keeping the shots against to a lower number is a definite priority.

Team Staff
The Head Coach's job remains firmly in the hands of Nate Long, the first human to earn such a position on an Equestrian national team for any sport. Long earned his job through repeatedly dominating his rival (Bruiser) in "Coach of the Year" awards voting. But that's probably because the award is voted upon by the players, and Bruiser certainly has a personality to match his name, being an EIHL Hall of Fame defensepony.

Head Coach - Nate Long (Human - Male) - 53 - Fairflanks North Stars (Head Coach)
Assistant Coach - Bruiser (Earth Pony - Male) - 50 - Everfree Fire (Head Coach)
Assistant Coach - Laura Sisko (Human - Female) - 56 - Canterlot Ice (Head Coach)

Home Arena

Image

Name: Canterlot Ice Arena
Location: Canterlot, Equestrian States
Capacity: 7,525
Short Description: One of the few purpose-built larger-capacity ice hockey arenas in the Equestrian States, the Canterlot Ice Arena is relatively new when compared to the older multi-purpose arenas in the nation. Canterlot Ice Arena is located on the outskirts of the Equestrian capital city, but is still easily accessible to visitors staying downtown Canterlot's higher-class hotels via the train. It's not ideal, perhaps, but it's the best the Equestrian States can offer right now.

RP Permissions

If my opponent RPs first, I give them the right to...
Choose My Scorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes - Only that the player was injured, not the type or severity
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes - See above for restrictions
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes - Generally, the Equestrians play a very clean game, so fewer penalties
RP Ejections for My Players: No - TG me if you really want to
Godmod Other Events: Yes - Just don't do anything stupid, ridiculously weird, or something that would likely irritate me (like portraying my team as being unintelligent non-sapient barnyard animals instead of sapient beings).

* - Historical Note: From WCoH 18-20, the Equestrian States was represented by an unofficial team of changelings (shapeshifters) who competed illegally. That team's all-time record was 18 wins, 1 overtime loss, and 11 losses in regulation. They won their group in WCoH 19 and reached the round of 16 in that tournament and at WCoH 20. As that team competed illegally, the Equestrian States does not recognize those results as official for the current national team.

NEPHARIM STADIUM BID FOR THE WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY

National summary.

Nephara is a powerhouse of football. One of the strongest teams in the world, their league's almost as good itself. Attendance is sky-high, there are 96 fully professional clubs and they're starting to look like a team for whom the World Cup should be a given, every two years.

Basically, hockey - which only fully professionalised at the turn of the year - has a lot of ground to cover.

As a result, the NIHA has decided to open a stadium bid to try and bring hockey of the highest quality to Nepharim shores. Whitewater Stadium is by far the worthiest site for it, the home stadium of HC Treason in the traditional hockey heartland of the northwest. With a capacity of 12,000 - all with good views of the rink itself - likely to be sold out for any match, any visiting side is likely to get a warm reception - or a boiling hot one, if they're playing against the Nepharim. To host matches in Nephara is to ensure that a very much secondary sport gets a much-needed boost, a jolt to the national consciousness, and a defining moment in the nation's movement towards being a power in the international spectrum. Calling Nephara a 'sleeping giant' would be an overstatement, but there is definitely potential lurking under the surface.

As for the location itself, the stadium is in roughly the centre of the second-largest city in the nation, with plenty of access to the hospitality and lodging that it has to offer. All-in-all, Nephara is ready to host Group or Round of 16 matches - either would be cause for celebration.

Twenty-two have come:
Some of our best and brightest,
Ice hockey world cup!

Memory maker
For Seventeen Syllables’
Haijin ice-skaters.

We have two coaches,
Nineteen fine young men—also
One persistent girl.

Not so pretty now
Nanami Miura’s face
After stopping pucks.

Stick use is better
Or heavy pads. But faces
Still protect our goals.

Loyal defenders:
Ken’ichi Yamamoto.
Shoichi Abe.

Blue line warriors
Valiant before the foemen—
Bushido spirit.

The captain faces off
Yasuo Gato, stick man
At the line’s center

Targets by his sides
Brothers and companions true
With fiery slap shots.

Shinji Takeda,
Left. Norio Takeda,
Leftovers again.

Shinji scores a lot.
Norio shoots and passes
And fights equally!

Kozo Takeda
First among coaches, requests:
Please do not godmod.

Do you seek romance
With your pucks and sticks and fists?
Perhaps we can help.

Basho’s “Old Frog Pond
Now seats twenty-one thousand
Not counting the geese.

Honor would be ours
Providing for you—World Cup
Hospitality.

KAZIRSTAN'S STADIUM BID FOR THE WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY XXVI
Image
Image

Karakol Central Arena (often referred to as "the KCA") is situated in the heart of downtown Karakol, the capital city of Kazirstan. Construction began in 2001, and was finished in 2003. The KCA represents the cutting edge in arena design, featuring a sleek modern design. The KCA is fully air-conditioned, heated, and receives a portion of its electrical power from solar collectors built into the roof. It also features state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and a specialized design built to minimize echoing.

The KCA seats up to 34,000 spectators, with standing room for a further 1,200. The KCA is the home arena of the Akula Karakol hockey team of the KECL (Kazіrstani Elita Chakieja Liha - Kazirstani Elite Hockey League), and BC Pantera Karakol basketball team of the KEBL (Kazirstani Elita Baskietboĺnaja Liha - Kazirstani Elite Basketball League). It also regularly plays host to high profile musical concerts, as well as other performances of all kinds.

The KCA is a short trip by MagLev train to and from the Karakol International Airport. The publicly funded MagLev system connects the entire city, allowing fans to travel anywhere in Karakol within minutes, for free. If fans choose not to take the MagLev system, the KCA is within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, and some of Kazirstan's finest hotels. Because of the arena's location, fans are treated to spectacular views of both Karakol harbour and the city's incredible skyline.

Karakol itself is a city of incredible beauty, cleanliness, and safety. Kazirstan is ranked highly in the world for environmental beauty, and Karakol is no exception. It's skyline features eco-friendly skyscrapers and vertical farms, and the city has many world-class green spaces and parks. Under Kazirstani law, no cars are allowed in built up areas (except police), so you do not run the risk of getting run over by crazy drivers, and you don't have to breathe in disgusting exhaust fumes. Kazirstan has some of the lowest crime rates in the world, and The Karakol Police Department will keep you safe during your stay in Karakol.

The KCA and the city of Karakol will be bidding to host matches in the group stage.

Windspear Arena

Location: Ålstad, Vesperia, Arkiasis
Capacity: 18,532

Notes
Hockey is most popular spectator sport in Arkiasis, and in Vesperia where winters are dark, cold and long, the sports reigns supreme as the unofficial religion and pastime. The sport is more popular among the Vesperian speaking population than the English speaking population, but in recent years thanks to several major stars emerging the sport has grown in the southern part of the nation and now competes with football as the most popular sport in the anglo south. The Arkiasis Elite League is the top professional hockey league in the nation. The League has 24 teams which are divided into 2 conferences of 12 teams each. In 2014 the Patalk Knights IF beat the Noryln Rangers 4 games to 3 to win the Memorial Cup. Arkiasis is commonly nicknamed "The Wolves" in international sport events due to the Wolf which commonly appears on uniforms.

The Arkiasis national team is known for their offensive power with players constantly ranking in the top of their respective leagues in points. However the team's defence is weaker than average and is susceptible to collapse if bombarded by constant offensive pressure. Arkiasis' goaltending is above average with goaltenders not giving up too many rebounds and remaining calm. Physically, the Arkiasian team is poor with players being smaller and lighter than average and instead focusing on speed, agility and handiness.

Inspired by the fourth place in the Junior Hockey Championships, the Elejamian Ice Hockey Board decided to send the national team to the WCoH. Featuring big names like Antonio Cervantes; Anatoly Kasputin; Lucas Madgwick; and Mike Cruickshank, the Icy Elephants (not to be confused with the ENIHL team Elejamie City Ice Elephants) are hoping to, at the very least, beat the group stages.

  • I would do a stadium bid but, since I don't know if I need a scorinator (and, because I can't install Java, scorination's a bit of a pain) I decided to scrap it.

Novaya Zemlya presents WC roster

Head coach Bogdan Bobr held a brief press conference today in Belushya Guba, presenting the World Cup squad and answering questions from the press. The roster has gone through very few changes since the lackluster WC 25 campaign. The core is still made up largely by players from the two dominant Belushya Guba clubs Partizan and Torpedo. With Torpedo having a subpar season in the Novaya Zemlya Elite League, several journalists openly questioned wether Bobr's team selection really was based on hockey, implying that politics behind the scenes played a part.

Following a recent change of policy in the national hockey federation, the roster contains several players who are now playing for clubs abroad. Most of the players are well-known names for Novaya Zemlya hockey fans, but maybe not defenceman Andrei Alenichev. The 23-year-old is set to make his national team debut after a successful season with Nuuk Dynamite of the VHL in Polar Islandstates. The roster also includes goalie Anton Lopatin and blueliner Zakhariy Myshkin who led Novaya Zemlya to the quarterfinals in the World Juniors a month ago. These two youngsters are likely, however, to spend most of the tournament watching from the pressbox.

Nova Anglicana Lions Senior Hockey Team

Martin Granger, Staff Reporter

The Lions have entered into qualification for the 26th edition of the World Cup of Hockey, their fifth time entering this major international competition. The first time they entered, they finished with a record of 3-3-6 (W-D-L), for 9 points and fifth of seven teams in their group. They played a much more determined and skilled first half of qualifying, but faded down the stretch due to fatigue and what seemed like a general inattentiveness (OOC: I was unable to RP my final 3 matches due to RL issues and lost them all by an aggregate of 11-1). The second time they entered, they finished with a record of 4-1-4 (W-D-L), for 13 points and fourth of ten teams in their group, missing the playoffs. They started off quite poorly, with a record of 0-1-3 through the first four games, and had people calling for Head Coach Cecil Palmer's job. They then got on a roll, winning four in a row, and putting themselves in a win-and-you're-in scenario on MD9 against Hicana. The magic ran out, as they were shut out 2-0, but Palmer retained his job. That may be due in part to their performance at the inaugural Royal Alexandre Hockey Invitational, where they were drawn into a tough group, but still managed to reach the quarterfinals, including impressive wins over Valanora and Sicoutimont, before being shut out by Ko-oren. In WCoH 24, the Lions went 7-0-3, including a victory over then-#7 Torisakia. Unfortunately, they fell in two games (losing Game 2 in shootout fashion) to Falcus in the Round of 24. They then made a run to the semifinals of the 2nd Royal Alexandre Hockey Invitational, where they lost 1-0 to Borschland. They closed it out by losing to Hicaña in the 3rd place game in overtime. In WCoH 25, the Lions were drawn in a group that included perennial favorites Havl and solid competitors The Fair Republic. With a last matchday win and a little help, the Lions finished 5-0-2 and advanced to the playoff round of 16, where they were seeded 15th. They lost in two games to the second-seeded Hicaña Flyers. Coming off two straight Ro16 appearances (and two straight eliminations), the Lions will look to once again make the playoffs, but advance deeper into the tournament.

The team is mostly composed of players from the domestic NAHL, which has a high level of play, but also features a few players currently playing at the AHL level of the United States' NHL. Cecil Palmer prefers a moderate defensive style, one that focuses on discipline and toughness. You won't see many penalties conceded, but you also won't see any short-handed breaks down the ice. This is a team that makes their money on the power play and on their excellent passing.

Head Coach: Cecil Palmer
Style Modifier: -1
Captain: Troy Parker
Assistant Captains: Matt Grier, Dallas Carlson

1st Line
RW Jay Schwartz, 34 - loves the wraparound, team prankster
C Troy Parker, 31 - maturation process complete, earns that long-awaited captaincy, great player
LW Matt Grier, 33 - Palmer likes him so much because he always knows when to (and not to) make the extra pass, picks up his fair share of goals as well

2nd Line
RW Leif Haas, 25 – Haas is a level-headed and deadly shooter who will be needed just as much as anyone on the team
C Dallas Carlson, 26 – the former U20 captain has enormous confidence and the skills to match, graduates to second line
LW Jordan Bergeron, 30 - former AHL Norfolk Admiral, he's got tons of raw talent and has matured well

3rd Line
RW André Tailleur, 25 - burst on to the scene with twenty-three goals in last NAHL season, very quick skater
C Ellis White, 29 - White is an up-and-comer in the NAHL
LW Ricky Knight, 24 – Knight's knack for making just the right pass is upper-echelon

4th Line
RW Doug LaRose, 36 - bit of a banger for a wing, his work ethic is second to none, goal-scoring skills leave a lot to be desired
C Gavyn Newhall, 27 – Newhall anchors a line whose motto is, “the best offense is a good defense”, decent goal-scorer but best at handling the puck
LW Scotty Gaston, 27 – Gaston’s a spark plug, always aggressive on the forecheck, deadly on the wraparound

Pair 1
Hank Weber, 31 - Weber has the large skates of Roger Day to fill, but he's a good all-around player
Cody Riley, 33 - Riley is one of the league's best defensemen, bit overaggressive at times, can lead to fights

Pair 2
Zach McCoy, 35 - plays with Russell in NAHL, chemistry extremely valuable
Josh Russell, 37 - provides the bulk to McCoy's finesse, excellent tag team duo

Pair 3
Marq Brint, 28 – Brint has built on his physicality to become a force, plays all facets of the game well
Sander van der Zeijden, 23 – this young man is possessed of a wonderful set of instincts and a good offensive skill set, is decent but improving defender

Pair 4
Bruce Baker, 25 – always a leader in blocked shots, Baker’s not afraid to sacrifice the body for the team
Matt Washington, 25 – will block shots just like Baker, but main asset is a cannon of a slap shot and imposing physique

Goaltenders
Bryan Blake, 31 - young man had an excellent defensive campaign that helped lead his team to the playoffs
Todd Ingram, 26 – capable of standing on his head at times, but is particular vulnerable in the 5-hole, upper half stronger than lower half
Aksu Koivula, 21 – young Finn émigré gets his shot at national team

Power Play 1
1st Line + Defensive Pair 1

Power Play 2
2nd Line + Defensive Pair 2

Nova Anglicana Site Bid WCoH XXVI (Group Stage, Round of 16)

Image

National Arena (cap. 14,000) in the capital city of Londinium

About Nova Anglicana

Nova Anglicana maintains a strong public transport system, both inside and out of urban areas. Most large cities have a metro or subway system, managed by the city, but subsidized by the central government. Bus service is ubiquitous in cities with a population of 25,000 or more, and several private companies provide long-distance bus service. Many families own cars in Nova Anglicana, but these are often used for pleasure trips or as a symbol of status. Residents of urban areas often rely on public transport, and those in the suburbs often find that driving to the station and riding the metro is less time-consuming should they wish to enter the city. The state-owned NovaRail connects cities in the various provinces of Nova Anglicana and is widely regarded as an efficient and affordable way to travel within or between provinces.

For longer journeys or international travel, Nova Anglicana has international airports in each of its ten largest municipalities and domestic airports scattered across the country. The municipalities own the airports, but the security is provided by private companies as well as national air marshals and all flights are provided by private companies.

Crime is rarely a problem in Nova Anglicana, as a strong social safety net and good public education, along with an improved economy, give most Nova Anglicans little reason to commit crimes. Crime is so low that the central government spends nothing on law & order (except for border control), preferring to leave it to the individual cities and provinces.

In addition to its strong infrastructure and miniscule crime rate, Nova Anglicana is consistently ranked among the top nations in many categories. Visitors always remark on the warm welcome they receive from citizens, and Nova Anglicana is considered one of the happiest and healthiest nations in the NS universe. It also enjoys great weather and culture, so there is always plenty to do no matter what one's idea of fun is.

Food and Drink

So when you and that Nova Anglican fan hit it off and go for a drink and meal, what can you expect? Lots of fish, b'y. Londinium is located in the province of Newfoundland, which has a very strong fishing industry. Fish and chips, cod every way you can think of (tongues are a favorite), flounder, halibut, salmon, and lobster are some of the typical seafood one can expect, though if you're lucky, you might be able to find seal flipper pie, a real treat. For land fare, try caribou, deer, rabbit, or the famous "jiggs dinner", salted beef with boiled vegetables, as well as pickles and beets. For dessert, think figgy duff, a sweet raisin pudding, or one of our many baked goods flavored with molasses. At the stadium, one can expect typical stadium fare (hot dogs, hamburgers, giant pretzels, etc) combined with Lion Brewery products.

But what you really want to know about is the beer, right? Pubs in Londinium are open from noon to midnight, usually, and later on the weekends, and local breweries usually hold the same hours, give or take an hour or two. Expect to see plenty of traditional lagers and ales, though local microbreweries are turning out more complex beers, including a popular blueberry ale made with local blueberries. The most popular in the city is Lion, both in its lager and stout form. George Street, located near the harbour, is the best place to go for local nightlife, featuring over 20 bars, pubs, and clubs. Expect plenty of live music, mostly folk, though the clubs will play American and Canadian pop, as well as rap, hip-hop, and R&B.

Language and Religion

Being formed from parts of Anglophone and Francophone Canada, Nova Anglicans do not all speak the same language. English is, of course, the most widely spoken language and the language in which most classes are taught. Translators will be available at official functions, but good luck understanding the particular brand of English the people of Londinium speak (at least the natives). There are a number of French speakers in Londinium, though fewer than in other parts of the country.

Nova Anglicana is about 95% Christian of varying stripes, though mostly Anglican and Roman Catholic, and all religions are legal to practice, provided they don't involve animal cruelty or human sacrifice or something like that. Londinium is a cosmopolitan city, so one expect to find a synagogue, mosque, temple, or any other place of worship for a major religion, if you should find yourself in need of one.

Venue Bids for the Twenty-Sixth Edition of the World Cup of Hockey
From the Avatarian Republics of Gyatso-kai

The sport of ice hockey is one with a proud tradition through the Avatarian Republics of Gyatso-kai, with every Nation having an Ice Hockey team that has reached the pinnacle of the Avatarian Hockey League (AHL) and hoisted Avatar Kuruk's Chalice more than once. So the very notion of picking just two arenas to be voted on as venues for the right to host games of the World Cup of Hockey, one could understand the difficulty in selecting the arenas which would be set to forever represent Avatarian hockey... at least until Gyatso-kai makes its own host bid.

Never been to Gyatso-kai? Well, here is your primer!

Gyatso-kai, officially known as the Avatarian Republics of Gyatso-kai, is a supranational theocratic federal republic occupying the majority of the lands within the region of Avatar Incarnate. Covering hundreds of thousans of square kilometres and spanning six time zones, Gyatso-kai is a nation rich in history, culture, and so much more. The ancient Avatarian civilisation floursihed in the fertile basin of the Yellow River, which to this day continues to flow through the Western Si Wong Valley. The earlies political systems of the region were based on hereditary monarchies, with the first being the Xia Dynasty which formed in approximately 2000 BC. However, it was during the Yin Dynasty that the first unified Gyatso-kai would come to form in 241 BC; granted, this unification would not last long with the growing cultural differences between the four main ethnic groups in the areas of Gyatso-kai at the time. It was in 126 BC that the first of the Elemental Nations was formed: Under the tutelage of the Badgermoles, the people of the city now known as Omashu learned the Art of Earthbending, thus granting them innumerate powers over the other nations. In time, the other nations would be taught the Bending Arts by other species of animals whom deemed the elite status of the Earth Kingdoms to be a fault of the Badgermoles: The Fire Nation would learn Firebending in the Lost Temples of the Sun from the now-near-extinct Dragons, while the Water Tribes would learn Waterbending from the Spirits Tui and La and the Air Nomads would learn Airbending from the Sky Bisons.

Following centuries of great conflict between the various nations, the Great War erupted in 1846, plunging the lands of Gyatso-kai into a one-hundred-year-long war which would claim millions upon millions of lives and forever change the people of the Four Nations. It was under Avatar Roku in 1946.4 that The Great War would come to an end and the Unification of the Nations would occur in which the Four Elemental Nations would come together until a single banner and a single ruler --- The Avatar --- who would begin the seventy-year-long healing The Great War had caused to the people of Gyatso-kai.

Since the Unification, Gyatso-kai has become the region’s fastest growing major economy in terms of annual growth over the last six years. In addition, Gyatso-kai has the region’s largest standing army with the second-largest defence budget to fund a professional military capable of operations both within the region and abroad. After becoming a recognized nuclear weapons state in the 1960’s, Gyatso-kai continued to gain world-wide respect and continues to this day to be a leader in the fields of mathematics, science and sports. A very modern state, Gyatso-kai is rated by the World Assembly to be the Top 5% of Most Cultured, Most Devout, Most Beautiful Environments, Most Influential, Lowest Crime Rates, Safest, Smartest Citizens, and Most Popular Tourist Destinations. Even more impressively, Gyatso-kai finds itself amongst the Top 1% of World Nations in terms of Happiest Citizens, Most Developed, an Largest Public Transport Departments. Given these high rankings, the Avatarian Republics are sure to feel like home to many of the multiverse's citizens.

Construction Details
Broke Ground: 14 April 1994.2
Opened: 20 October 1996.3
Renovated: 18 August 2011.3 - 04 May 2012.2

Bidding For: Group Stages, Round of Sixteen, Quarterfinals

The Sundari Times Forum is a multi-purpose arena located in Sundari, Southern Mandalorian Territories, that has been used primarily for ice hockey; though, it has been host to multiple sporting events in its 21-year-long history.

The building was originally known as the Itakawai Arena in honour of the professional ice hockey team which would eventually call the arena home. In 2002, the naming rights were sold to the Sundari Times, a daily newspaper which circulates in three languages throughout the Southern Mandalorian Territories.

Details of the Bid

The SUndari Times Forum will play host to visiting teams, with Gyatso-kai bidding to host either group stage, Round of Sixteen, and / or Quarterfinal matches in the World Cup of Hovkey XXVI. The stadium will be set for the optimal hockey observation environment, with 19,950 seats available for fans of all nationalities. As Gyatso-kai is known throughout the multiverse for its public transportation system, there is a high-speed train line spanning the entire width of the island of Itakawai, which is the largest island in the Southern Mandalorian Territories. In addition, there are routine high-speed ferries between the mainland town of Hitomori and the Itakawaian town of Ko'poli; with the average crossing of the Oliki Sea taking less than one hour through relatively calm seas common around this time of year in the southern reaches of the Avatarian Republics. Within Sundari, there is a very reliable tram system which runs from the city's center to a station located across the street from the Forum.

Players and Coaching Staff will be accommodated around the Itakawai Provincial Convention Center (IPCC), which is just minutes away from the Forum. Around the IPCC are eight four- and five-star hotels which are usually used to host countless business and convention guests to the region. Those eight hotels are:
  • The Ramaton (four-star) [350 rooms]
  • Bol'ollic Yamika (four-star) [476 rooms]
  • Caobao Towers(four-star) [767 rooms]
  • Kalino Inn (four-star) [566 rooms]
  • Citon'ri Suites (four-star) [345 rooms]
  • The Hotel Itakawai (five-star) [498 rooms]
  • The Al'dor-Riasto (five-star) [888 rooms]
  • The Itakawai Executive Inn (five-star) [487 rooms]

All of the hotels are a mere five minute shuttle ride to the Sundari Times Forum. Buses will be provided by the National Sports Council.

Additionally, four local rinks will be provided for teams to use for practice and training; each team will be allowed to claim a three-hour time slot every other day so as to allow adequate time for each team to train. These four sites all have AHL / NHL regulation rinks and adequate space for an National team-caliber team to practice. These sites are:
  • Catgator Pond, home to the EHL team Sundari Catgators (15 minute drive from the STF)
  • Mo'gun Pond at the University of the Southern Territories (UST) (20 minute drive from the STF)
  • Ciryc'pirun Arena used by the Itakawai State University (25 minute drive from the STF)
  • Oriyala'suumpir used by the University of the Southern Territories-Wasuur campus and the ASCA Division II hockey team (35 minute drive from the STF)

Sundari / Itakawai Culture

Unlike the cultures of the Elemental Nations to the North of the Mandalorian Islands, Sundari and the island of Itakawai are a veritable melting pot of multiple cultures. Known as a hub for the islands further south of Itakawai, Sundari is the gateway to the Mainland given the relatively calm Oliki Sea compared to the more open and rough Antipolar Sea. Given its position as a gateway, Sundari has many Elemental towns just outside of the city's center; the largest being Little Omashu (Vheh'cerar'yamika in Mando'a for 'Earth Mountain little city'). In such close proximity to the Water Tribe of Whaletail Island, many of the colour palettes of Sundari is rich blues.

Arts and Entertainment

Sundari is home to a variety of stage and performing arts venues and theaters; including The Vida D. Zrat Society for the Continuation of Mandalorian Arts, the Sundari Playhouse, as well as the Avatar-appointed Centre for the Southern Mandalorian Traditions; a multi-million yuan facility solely appointed to study and document the uniqueness that is the Southern Mandalorian provinces.

Cuisine

Given its position as a Gateway to the Mainland, the cuisine of Sundari is as diverse as its people. One of the most renowned dishes of Southern Mandalorian culture, ita'roba, is one of the most popular dishes to be sold and consumed, with a plethora of street carts lining the main street running up to the Sundari Times Forum, Chortav'kai'tome; in fact, many of the Itakawai Lightning players are known to roam Chortav'kai'tome after practice to satisfy their hunger. These food carts sell a multitude of Imperial, Earth, Water, and Incarnate cuisine with a very unique Sundarian twist, a.k.a spice; Sundarian food is known for its very powerful spices, known in the local language as heturam or "mouth fire". Directly north of Chortav'kai'tome is the infamous Chortav'ne'tra'gal, or "Black Ale Street", lined for six kilometres with nothing but various public houses and bars, the oldest of which "The Ne'tra Ulik", was founded in 1530 as a base of operations for the Mandalorian pirates. If it exists in the known multiverse, you can find it on Chortav'ne'tra'gal.

Local Laws

Where as most civilised nations shun the bearing of arms in public, given that Sundari is a Mandalorian 'outpost', it is very uncommon to see people in what most societies would call 'everyday wear'. Armour, blades, rifles, sidearms... Everything you would imagine to see in a military armory you can expect to see in Sundari. In the more rural areas of Sundari, you can expect to see all forms of retire military vehicles being used instead of tractors for farm work.

In addition to the presence of weaponry, laws regarding their use are also somewhat lax when compared to the mainland of Gyatso-kai. In most of the Mandalorian provinces, bar fights will often turn deadly; especially in the more seedy areas where bounty hunters and other mercenaries call home. However, the areas which surround the Sundari Times Forum have not seen a bar fight erupt into a murder in over a decade, thanks in part to the Grand Army of the Republic Garrison stationed in Boyr; a town just five miles north of Sundari. Given the close proximity, many clone troopers and birth soldiers of the GAR can be seen in and around Sundari, which should console any worried traveler.

Linguistically, the most common language you will find in Sundari is Mando'a; however, Republican Standard --- a variation of Mulitverse English which often incorporates a variable set of English, Avatarian, and Mando'a into the same sentence --- as well as Multiverse English are both very common.

HopNation’s Venue Submission

HopNation is proud to introduce, for your venue consideration, their Super Rinks!

The Venues
Image

Dortmunder Super Rink: capacity 60,000|Location: Zorg, Copperwies

The super rink in Nortal is one of the biggest hockey rinks in all of HopNation with seating for 60,000. It is a historic rink, being the first of its kind in HopNation and it has all the modern items you would hope to find in any facility. The Dortmunder Super Rink boasts food of all kinds, top notch facilities for fans (restrooms, concourses, parking, and seating), and excellent team room facilities. So even though it is a historic arena it has everything you might need/want when it comes to hockey. There are also five other sheets of ice under the roof of this building. Those sheets are used for youth leagues, adult recreational leagues, HHL games (home of the Wild Beavers), and even one dedicated just to figure skating.

Image

Krausen Super Rink : capacity 58,000|Location: Captile, Bondporter

The other super rink in HopNation, this rink has seven total sheets of ice under it's roof with the main rink dedicated to hockey (mostly HHL games). The other sheets are used for youth hockey, open skating, figure skating, and even broomball at times. The facility itself is rather large and holds many more people than the seating capacity of the main rink. It has top notch training/warm-up facilities with half rink sheets of ice dedicated for each team preparing/warming up for a game; it also has excellent team rooms which have all the modern things you would find in a rink of this caliber and size. The Burn (an HHL team) call this super rink their home and other teams of the league love coming here to play.

Hockey in HopNation
HopNation is a nation that prides itself in the area of sports and leisure with many things happening all over the nation each day. When it comes to hockey, HopNation has something for all levels of skill and dedication. Whether it’s a youth league game in Zorg, a junior league game in Bayern, or even a pickup game at one of the local schools in Glacier you’re bound to find hockey being played not just in the winter but throughout the year. Although the sport has a good following and many opportunities for youths to adults it is still only the third most popular sport when looking at the HopNation Broadcasting Networks (HBN) viewership rankings. As hockey in HopNation was originally started to help combat the months of cold and snow, which covers much of HopNation during it’s winter months, it is still growing. The Head of Hockey Operations, Wayne Messierz, hopes that by hosting some of the WCoH XXVI games (if selected as a venue location) this growth will continue and that it will change those TV ratings, bringing them up to where he thinks they should be, but will it over take Handball (ooc –Handball is Gridiron Football for those unfamiliar with our gridiron team) or contend with Football, only time will tell. The original league in HopNation, the HopNation Hockey League or HHL, originally started with only a handful of teams and could only be played in the winter. This was because originally the teams only had outdoor rinks and could never hold a game if it was above freezing. The league even started to put rinks inside many of the association football venues in order to expand, eventually things got going and many hockey specific arenas were build. The HHL has expanded to fifteen teams and currently has a forty five game schedule that lead up to the VonHopton Cup Playoffs.

It is currently winter in HopNation and there is much more than hockey going on. This actually marks the mid-point in winter here in HopNation and is a time for celebration. There are many Winter Festivals taking place throughout HopNation, while some are single day events many of them last a couple weeks. These celebrations mark the countdown to spring and the start of the Football season, something that no Hoptonian misses. You’re likely to find carnivals and other events in each city. The carnivals include many contests of the winter variety, like; Ice Sculpting, Snowman Building, Igloo Building, or other such things. As for events, many cities hold sled dog races, snowshoeing scavenger hunts, downhill sledding, and broomball tournaments, so watch for these events as you travel throughout HopNation at this time of year.

Land and Travel when in HopNation
When you’re in HopNation there are many ways to get around, bus, car, train, or plane, and each has its advantages depending on how far you would like to go. HopNation is separated into three portions by its two mountain ranges (The Hallertautops and SaazMountains). These three sections are divided into four states, Copperwies, Dunklevine, Bondporter, and Hefebayern. Dunkelvine and Bondporter are both located between the two mountain ranges with Dunklevine making up the northern and Bondporter the southern. Copperwies is located to the east of the Saaz Mountains, while Hefebayern is located to the west of The Hallertautops (map). If you have to travel from one side of the Nation to the other, or even over one of the mountain ranges, it is advised that you use either train or plane, as driving in any fashion will take a considerable amount of time and if a road through the mountains gets blocked with snow it could be days before it is open again. Many of the cities also have a light rail or monorail system in place for getting around, which can be extremely useful during times of high traffic.

Other Considerations
HopNation has much to offer including fine dining, hotel accommodations, and many beautiful sights to see throughout our lands. We would be thrilled to host matches for the Group Stage of The World Cup of Hockey and you won’t be disappointed if selected to do so. We are also offering both super rinks to play host to the Round of 16 and the Quarterfinals.

Thank you for your consideration,
Wayne Messierz

Stade Olympique de Geneva
Image

The Transalpine Republic Ministry for Sports, Arts, and Culture is proud to present Transalpine Republic's stadium bid for the Twenty-Seventh World Cup of Hockey, the Stade Olympique de Geneva (Geneva Olympic Stadium). Geneva is, for those delegates that do not know, located at the southern end of Lake Geneva in the Geneva canton of Transalpine Republic, and is one of the country's largest cities. The Stade Olympique is the current home of Geneva's second hockey club, Olympique Geneve, possessing a capacity of 42,500. If this bid is accepted, Stade de Geneve will be used to host group stage and Round of 16 matches.

The Stade Olympique was recently constructed, being finished in 2014 and hosting its first hockey match later that year. As such, it has some of the most modern amenities and accommodations, including a state-of-the-art environmental control system for optimum temperatures. Geneva is known for its culture and large number of parks, as well as its historic atmosphere and architecture. Restaurants and hotels in Geneva are more than adequate to host visiting dignitaries and guests. In fact, the Bois des Freres park is right across the Rhone River from the Stade Olympique. Transalpine Republic in general is known for alpine skiing as well as other winter sports.

Transalpine Republic has had some success in international hockey, with Round of 16 appearances in both the last World Cup of Hockey and the X Winter Olympics, losing to Gregoryisgodistan both times. It is currently ranked seventeenth in the world in hockey, and looks to improve upon its previous performances with at least a quarterfinals appearance in this World Cup of Hockey. In winter sports in general, Transalpine Republic has enjoyed enormous success, coming in second in the IX Winter Olympics and fourth in the X Winter Olympics. Geneva aspires to host the next Olympics, though experts both in Transalpine Republic and throughout the world have largely observed that this is probably neither feasible nor likely.

Geneva possesses a good transportation system. A recently completed high-speed rail line connects Geneva with the largest cities in Transalpine Republic, Ennesau and Ingolstadt, as well as the capital, Valschloss. Local train lines also connect Geneva to the nearby Grand Massif ski resort, which is about 45 minutes away. Geneva's international airport is more than capable of handling and influx of travelers, and connections in Valschloss and Ennesau will further increase air capacity. As for transportation within the city, Geneva possesses an advanced metro system, with a stop near the Stade Olympique.

OOC: I'm also putting a venue bid forward for earlier stages. Enjoy!

WCoH 26 Venue Bid: Sherbrooke

Transportation

To arrive in Quebec you just want to fly in to the city that you will be playing in, due to its massive landscape and long traveling distance between even the closely located, major cities. Unfortunately, the very option is not available for games held in Sherbrooke, as the city itself does not possess a major airport with international service. The best way to arrive is going via Montreal or Quebec City, as they each possess a major international airport and a seaport. The approximate distance between Montreal and Sherbrooke is around 2.5 hours long on either train or auto, while it takes around 3 hours from Quebec City.

While travelling inside country, there are main methods you can use for this. The railways here isn't as quick as it'd be with other nations(the maximum speed being 225km for the fastest train service), but they are extremely punctual/on-time, high-quality and frequent(one train per 30 minutes), making it a very cost-effective and attractive option. Quebec does possess a strong auto industry and cars are somewhat prevalent, so you can travel via cars if interested. Flying between those three cities are not recommended as there are simply not enough flights on those corridors(a small regional jet flying daily and that's it), but also there's no need for them.

Lodging

There will be some hotels of high-calibre(at least 4 star ones) available in those cities. However, those 4 cities being medium-sized cities, there will be some issues. The same will not be guaranteed with the visiting fans as there will be mass influx of Quebecois citizens as well, to watch the games. Therefore it is recommended to make reservations 3-4 months ahead of the tournament, in order to guarantee your reservation in the hotels around the city.

If you are still in trouble of finding hotel or motel suites, there will be hotels, motels and other modes of accomodation available at your expense, on towns slightly far away from the venues(50km-100km). For more information please contact Tourism Quebec or for more specific information any tourism agency of the city/cities you'll be off to (OOC: TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec if you have any questions or so).

Players and Coaching Staff, as well as the visitors and press staff, will decide on their own accounts for their hotel/motel of choice. Most of them are in the Sherbrooke Downtown area, even though some may extend further into the suburbs and therewould will require bus transit. Buses will be provided by Hockey Quebec if necessary. There are 6 four or five star hotels available. Those hotels are:

R Sherbrooke (five-star) [308 rooms. Downtown, 2 minutes from arena]
Chateau Almagnac-Charmante (five-star) [210 rooms. Downtown(by railway station), 5 minutes from arena]
Intercontinental Hotel a Sherbrooke (four-star) [578 rooms. Downtown, 0.5 minute from arena (next to it)]
Weston Hotel Sherbrooke (four-star) [432 rooms. Suburbs, 10 minutes from arena]
Hotel Estrie (four-star) [412 rooms. Suburbs. 20 minutes from arena]
Royal Henri VIII Golf Club & Resort (four-star) [128 rooms. Outskirts, 25 minutes from arena]

Weather

Royal Kingdom of Quebec is located in Temperate and Polar regions, with the cities located in varying degrees of climate zones so all 4 seasons can be experienced each year, but with different extremes. As this tournament is held during the month of January, temperatures will be and stay below freezing, with an extreme possibility of frequent snowfall daily.

Sherbrooke has a humid continental climate, with long, cold, and snowy winters, warm summers, and short but crisp springs and autumns. Annual snowfall is large and consistent, averaging at 408 centimetres. It starts falling from October and lasts until April, something that is attributed to the surrounding mountain ranges over the city.

When it comes to temperature, The temperature stays around -6'C at day and -8 to -14 degrees at nighttime, which is not that bad considering its geographical position. However, there is around 10 centimetres of snow a day to precipitate, so please be careful with what footwear to bring.

Languages

There are three official languages in this nation: English, French and Korean. All 3 languages are taught in school curriculum and with great depth, causing most of the population to be at least trilingual. Additionally, in this part of the nation there are some other First Nations languages being recognised as regional languages and are used+learned to great depth in schools, so please note this when you're RPing in Quebec. Most Quebecois you'll meet are extremely polyglot and that will show with way they speak.

Sherbrooke is a primarily Anglophone city, with English being used as a language of commerce and governance. However, the residents generally speak at least conversational French and Korean as well, so do not worry if you are from either Korean or French speaking background.

Money

The national currency of Quebec is Quebecois Dollar, which is fairly expensive. The current exchange rate is $3 NS for 1 Quebecois dollar. With the nation being rich with huge economy, almost everyone will have at least has a good deal of money here. So please don't feel surprised if the products are much more expensive here than back home, excluding alcohol.

Here are the things you'll need in your stay, prices in NS Dollars (NS$) and Quebecois Dollars (Q$):

-Hotel: NS$ 35-400, Q$12-135
-Public transport in the cities: NS$2-$5, Q$0.7-1.7
-Bus transport to different cities: NS$5-50, Q$1.7-17
-Train transport to different cities: NS$6-80, Q$2-28
-Ferry between lakes: NS$5-$12, Q$1.7-4
-Flights between cities: NS$65-150, Q$22-50
-Average cost of food: NS$12-45, Q$4-15
-Hockey tickets: NS$60-600, Q$20-200 (TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec for hockey tickets of each match, for they all vary between arenas and matches)
-Bottle of water: NS$9, Q$3 (Sale of bottled water extremely limited, with public fountains providing very low interest for the people)
-Public phone: NS$1.5 per call, Q$0.5 per call

Cuisine

Quebecois cuisine has evolved through centuries of social and political change. Originating from dominant Korean and elegant French cuisine that came with settlers, as well as materials and existing food of the First Nations living in the area, Quebecois cuisine has evolved through a complex interaction of the natural environment and different cultural trends and is the best mix of it all.

Quebecois cuisine is largely based upon rice, other diverse kinds of grains, vegetables, and meats(in this area moose and caribou, and to rare cases bears). The meals are noted for the number of side dishes (banchan) that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. It varies on the personal preferences but often in every meal they eat at least some form of maple syrup, Kimchi and/or bread. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang (fermented bean paste), soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and gochujang (fermented red chili paste). In this part of the nation, fish are caught off the rivers and lakes to be eaten in whatever the way one prefers as well.

Ingredients and dishes vary by region to region, with many. Many regional dishes have become national, and dishes that were once regional have proliferated in different variations across the country.

Meals are regulated by cultural etiquette, which are very hard to follow for even the average Quebecois due to all the processes they take. So it is generally recommended for the visitors to be very careful about it, and make sure that they research a bit on local cuisine before coming to the area.

TG The Royal Kingdom of Quebec for any questions.

Religion

Quebec is a religiously diverse country, though divided when it comes to dominant regions. In the Estrie province, where the games are being hosted, the most dominant religion is Anglican church, followed by Buddhism then Roman Catholic church.

Due to these differences, all three levels of Government keeps some separation from any religions, though they still hold some influences in those levels and receive lots of funding. It is also not recommended to argue about politics or religion in Quebec, as political and religious apathy is unknown for most part.

Laws

Culturally and socially, Quebec is in bit of a mix. Another handy chart will be in place to explain some of Quebec, but in particular Sherbrooke's laws in place:

Recreational drugs: Legal, though selling them without licence can lead to up to $10,000 in fines and 5 years in jail
Hard drugs: Illegal, with punishments up to $50,000 in fines and 15 years in jail for possession and consumption of the drugs

    • Sherbrooke Phoenix (QHL)
    • Sherbrooke Thunder (QBL)

  • Opened: 12th of September, 2017
  • City Summary: Surrounded by picturetesque Almagnac and Charmant Mountain Ranges, the city of Sherbrooke (population: 450,000) is the provincial capital of Estrie. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes. When it comes to primary industries, education and tourism are the key industries in the cities, hence the province's title 'Cottage Country of Quebec'. There are several ski hills nearby and various tourist attractions in regional flavour, from wineries all over the province to the 145 kilometre-long Henri VIII Trail. The abundance of educational institutions in the city results in the city having a very large student population in the area, making the city even more unique.
  • Arena Summary: Situated on the picturetesque Almagnac and Charmant Mountain Ranges, ParkSang Pavilion joins the rank of few state-of-art arenas in Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Just opened 4 months prior to the World Cup of Hockey, it quickly replaced existing Sherbrooke Coliseum as the city's arena for professional sports and to lesser extent, concerts.
With its state of art features, the viewing experience is heightened greatly through what it provides. All the seats are designed to provide the viewers comfort, while the The foreign and domestic sport elite can enjoy watching the game in luxury in the arena's 62 Skyboxes. The arena food, consisting of local meals with various types of wines and microbrewery-made beverages on top, is easily affordable and enjoyable. During intermissions, Estrien (OOC: highlander) music will be played by few of most well known music groups in the area. With these features, it is guaranteed that one's arena experience in ParkSang Pavilion's going to be very memorable.

World Cup of Hockey XXVI- Venue Selection and Group Draw

Venue Selection

The World Cup of Hockey Federation (WCoHF) and the Hockey Quebec are pleased by the success of the arena bid process for this World Cup of Hockey edition, as 21 arenas from 17 nations were submitted to the consideration of the Organising Committee by the deadline. After that's done, a week-long analysis was conducted for each candidate arena in order to select the 12 arenas that will host matches in this World Cup of Hockey edition. 12 stadiums with the highest ratings by the committee were then selected to host the matches for this World Cup of Hockey. Those 12 arenas, listed in no particular order, are:

  • Whitewater Stadium, Treason, Nephara
  • National Coliseum, Londinium, Nova Anglicana
  • Arenean Metropol, Videnhagen, Vermark
  • Turoki Coliseum, Turoki, Vilita
  • Gallen's Cove, Stomguard, Valanora
  • Lord Almighty Gregory Arena, Capital District, Gregoryisgodistan
  • Willingsley Arena, Capital District, Gregoryisgodistan
  • Sundari Times Forum, Itakawai, Gyatso-Kai
  • Dortmunder Super Rink, Zorg, HopNation
  • Omnium Plaza, Raskstad, Vermark
  • Stade Olympique de Geneva, Geneva, Transalpine Republic
  • ParkSang Pavilion, Sherbrooke, Royal Kingdom of Quebec

The World Cup of Hockey Federation and Hockey Quebec would like to congratulate the 12 successful bidders while also noting the effort made by the remaining 9 bidders which regrettably did not make the final cut and thanking all the nations that expressed their interest in hosting matches in the competition.

Groups and Hosts Announced - 31st January 2015
Last night, in Montreal, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, the groups. After much speculation, it was revealed that Elejamie were drawn into Group F, alongside fellow unranked Pyrranya and reigning champions Havl. Despite having some confidence thanks to the junior squad coming fourth in the World Junior Hockey Championships, there have been some concern about whether or not the team will get out of the group stage. Captain Anatoly Kasputin, currently of the Coventry Puffins, said "This is going to be tough, yes, so we're looking for a miracle."

Also announced was the stadia for where the group matches were going to take place. Earlier this year, it was revealed that, for this tournament, the group stages, the round of 16 and the quarter finals will take place in different locations; although the semis, final and third place match will remain in the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Elejamie were originally going to put out a host bid but eventually decided against it, with general manager Ed Peak saying "The problem was that we're new to the scene; we might try again soon once we have a clear idea of what we're doing."

However, there haven't been any announcements yet about when exactly Elejamie will face their opponents, let alone where their matches take place. The only thing the team knows is that the tournament will begin on Monday.

Gregoryisgodistan Drawn Into Group D

Gregoryisgodistan has been drawn into Group D for the World Cup of Hockey, which begins on Monday. Gregoryisgodistan joins Estope, San Jose Guayabal, Yttribia, Mizuyuki, Vermark, and The Sword Bloke in that group. Matchdays 1-3 will be played in Gregoryisgodistan itself at the newly renovated Lord Almighty Gregory Arena, while days 4-7 will be played at the Sundari Times Forum in Gyatso-Kai. Gregoryisgodistan is widely expected to win the group and move on to the next round as they are ranked second in the multiverse behind only defending champions Havl. Havl defeated Gregoryisgodistan 3 games to 1 in the championship series last tournament, after Gregoryisgodistan won the previous one. It is certainly sure to be a fun rivalry which is sure to continue for many World Cups of Hockey to come.

On Matchday 1, Gregoryisgodistan will face off against San Jose Guayabal in a major international rivalry game. San Jose Guayabal is on Gregoryisgodistan's Enemy List and everyone in Gregoryisgodistan hates the Guayas for their wicked sins. It is sure to be a very violent game, possibly with some crushings of fans and/or referees. As it is going to take place in Gregoryisgodistan, nobody can stop the Enemy Crushers. They will just crush and crush and crush some more without legal repercussions. They will just keep crushing their enemies.

On Matchday 2, Gregoryisgodistan faces Mizuyuki, better known for their soccer than their ice hockey. That match is also in Gregoryisgodistan, so the Ice Slaves have a great chance of winning. Perhaps there will be crushings of fans there as well, as Guayabalian heathens are sure to be in attendance due to the scheduling. It will be lots of fun if they chant a forbidden fruity word and get crushed. It will also be completely legal since it's Gregoryisgodistan and nobody can stop the Enemy Crushers. Glory, Glory, Enemy Crushers!

On Matchday 3, Gregoryisgodistan takes on Vermark in a rematch of the gold medal ice hockey game at the Olympics. Vermark won that game 4-0, but Gregoryisgodistan will be looking for revenge. And what better way to take revenge than by winning, then crushing the opposition? Crushing is what Enemy Crushers do best, so it stands to reason they will have some crushings. It's crushy time for teddy bears, and crushies cereal is good. So why aren't Enemy Crushers good? Answer - they are. They will crush all day long.

Matchday 4 brings the matchup of the top 2 teams in the group and will likely decide who wins it. Gregoryisgodistan takes on Estope. Estope is ranked 13th in the multiverse. They aren't as good as that ranking though, many think. Gregoryisgodistan expects to win this with ease. However, this match will be played in Gyatso-Kai so the Enemy Crushers will have to be more careful about crushing. It's a shame since crushing is what they do best. But maybe there will still be some crushing since Hindmarsh Yoon, the Hineyman, doesn't care about Gyatso-Kai, only his own stupid country.

On Matchday 5, Gregoryisgodistan takes on The Sword Bloke, a funny little nation which apparently consists solely of a very large Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant and has an immortal shop owner on the team. As much as the Enemy Crushers would like to crush him, he apparently can't die. Such a shame. The Sword Bloke put in a venue bid, but it was rejected for apparently being on the top floor of a KFC. And speaking of KFC, that reminds us of the Costa Lunians Say The Dardnest Things episode where Doybert's family was competing on Family Feud and Doybert was playing Fast Money for a chance to win 1 million dollars, but he got 0 points for giving stupid answers to every question. One of them was to name a man's name that begins with K, to which Doybert replied Kentucky Fried Chicken. Other answers include answering "goatroach" when asked to name a noisy bird, "clock" when asked to name a type of bread, "turkey" when asked something you take to the beach, and "dead rat" when asked for something you would give your wife for her birthday that you wouldn't give to your mother for hers. Doybert's Mother played the next round and didn't do any better, answering Koala Bear for the man's name question, King Prune Juice for the noisy bird, Dead Bread for the type of bread, Tackle Me Elmo for something you take to the beach, and Grandma's ashes for the birthday question. So they got 0 points and won 0 dollars. Such a shame but they're Costa Lunians. And this is a really big digression.

Matchday 6 is a bye. How boring. Such a shame. But it's time to relax in Gyatso-Kai and maybe crush a few heathens for saying forbidden fruity words or worshiping false Gods. They must die.

On Matchday 7, the Ice Slaves will face Yttribia, a dark horse team that many people expect could make waves in the tournamnt. With their flag of purple, the Yttribians have a chance to be this tournament's surprise team. But they're in a tough group, with Gregoryisgodistan. The Ice Slaves should take this one, but it may be closer than expected. This will wrap up the group stage and hopefully Gregoryisgodistan will be undefeated and get the number 1 seed. Better yet, they'll get the number 2 seed so they'll play at home at Willingsley Arena in the Round of 16. It will be glorious and we look forward to it.

Both Willingsley Arena and Lord Almighty Gregory Arena will host World Cup of Hockey matches. Willingsley Arena will host Matchdays 1-3 of Group E, featuring Equestrian States, Neu Engollon, Esparmuran, Semarland, Allamunic States, the original Unolia (The Jahistic Unified Republic, not the other one that claims to be Unolia), and Ontorisa. It will also host the 2 vs. 15 series in the Round of 16. Lord Almighty Gregory Arena will host Matchdays 1-3 of Group D, as mentioned above, and Matchdays 5-7 of Group C, featuring Hicana, Vilita & Turori, Cosumar, Arkiasis, Electrum, Nephara, and East Corsaire. So the Hicanans will have to come to Gregoryisgodistan for three days. It will be fun to torture them and yell at them and insult them for the heathens they are. Death to Hicana!
