"So, wait we're playing someone else?"

"Apparently"

"So the whole last RP was a lie?"

"Yes"

"Well at least Cosumar is using our roster"

"Yeah but they're too lazy to check up on the ridiculouslessness of the roster"

"Or maybe they just want to do a match report and not talk about it"

"But what's the fun in that?"

"Well different people have different versions of fun and Cosumar's versions involves match reports while ours involves 4th wall breaking conversations between two anonymous individuals"

"Hey I have a name it's *LOUD NOISE*"

"Yes but nobody will ever know your name outside of Milchama"

"Why not?"

"Because we've been doing this for at least 5 RL years and nobody still knows our name"

"Wasn't there that one time where our names and histories were going to be covered?"

"Yes and then we got eliminated in 3 games in the World Cup and 1 of those a was a newspaper report so it never happened"

"Ah"

"Also, I think that was on Jolt so the names might be out there but you're never going to be able to find them"

"Good point"

"So yeah, for the purposes of others we are nameless even though we clearly do have names"

"Right"

"Definitely"

"Cheese"

"So then how's Milchama doing?"

"Pretty well, at least until the 8th inning when they gave up 7 runs"

"That's really bad"

"Well I guess the bullpen had a meltdown"

"That's unfortunate"

"Actually it's terrible"

"Yes, very bad, no good, etc."

"Cheese"

"Oh well we still have one more game to get 'em!"

"Woot!"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"

Cosumar forces rubber game for semifinal spot, ignores controversy over Milchama roster
BY AARON GREENE

DENISON CITY - Cosumar was trailing 3-1 going into the penultimate inning, but rallied with a huge seven-run outburst on Ed Walsh to keep their World Baseball Classic campaign alive.

Despite potential distractions such as a serious neck injury to starting first-baseman Hermenegildo Barros that occured in pre-game practice and questions surrounding the eligibility of Milchama's players, the Cosumarites kept their focus on the game for all nine innings and enjoyed their sweet victory afterwards.

"All that other stuff is irrelevant once the first pitch is on. You just want to go out there and give yourself a chance, hope your pitching staff gives you a chance," Manager Toby MacHart said. "That's what they did for us today, and thankfully our bats finally came alive at the end there. You don't score nine runs in this competition very often, so it was a lot of fun."

Team Cosumar reportedly submitted an official complaint to the World Baseball Classic hosts yesterday to investigate the eligibility of the Milchamian players. Or, supposedly, not Milchamian players pretending to be Milchamian. A transcript of a conversation between two anonymous individuals said to be close to Milchama Baseball was leaked to Cosumarite baseball authorities, which aroused suspicion to potential irregularities regarding the Milchama roster. Cosumarite officials then executed "a good baseball-reference search" and discovered that the players representing Milchama might be doing so illegally because they all seem to be citizens of an obscure nation called "United States of America" -- and not Milchama.

The leaked transcript reportedly indicates that the "Americans" were retrieved by Milchama via interdimensional travel. Since Milchama is a scientifically advanced nation, almost as much so as Cosumar, this is a realistic possibility. However, the fine print of the secret World Baseball Classic contract states that participating nations "may not enlist the services of players or coaches from other dimensions on their team, unless it is from a parallel version of the same nation". Unless this supposedly extra-dimensional land of "America" is an alternative version of the same entity as Milchama, reaping their talent for use in our own dimension's baseball competitions is explicitly forbidden and an egregious breach of the honour code of technologically advanced sporting nations.

Pending a more detailed investigation by the World Baseball Classic organizers, however, these accusations are unproven. The games will continue to be played. Even if Milchama did harvest elite talent from another dimension's baseball history, they were no match for the born-and-raised Cosumarites in Game 2 of this quarterfinals series.

Milchama broke through quickly against Cosumar ace Remigio Belcher, producing three hits and a run in the first inning. Belcher was solid for the next five innings, however, allowing zero runs, striking out six and walking two. He was replaced by strong-armed rightie reliever Jaycob Kneller after Milchama scored to go up 3-1 one out into the seventh inning. Kneller did his job to perfection, getting Cosumar through the crucial 7th and 8th innings unscathed. After the Dragons exploded on Milchama reliver Ed Walsh in the 8th to take a commanding 8-3 lead, closer Alf Carver's job was easy. Carver gave up a solo homer, but not the win.

Cosumar's seven runs in the eighth inning were the team's most ever in one inning. Kshathra Vairya had a lead-off single just over the outstretched glove of second-baseman Bill Mazeroski. He was joined immediately thereafter by Rune O'Byrne who sliced Walsh's curveball into the shallow gap between the third-baseman and left-fielder. Back-up first-baseman Jaakko Sandström, replacing injured starter Barros, then waltzed up and produced the first double of his WBC career to drive Vairya and O'Byrne home. The next two batters-up, Koruko Sato and Tyler Krause, both grounded out but Sandström was able to slide over to third base. Designated hitter Leonard Andrews appeared to ground out to end the inning but the ball was clumsily dropped by first-baseman Hal Chase, letting Andrews on and letting Sandström slide home for a 4-3 lead.

But a measly 4-3 lead wasn't good enough for Cosumar. They would rip the game open even further just a few seconds later, when Elwin Hyacinthus waltzed up and smacked a homer off the left foul-pole on the first pitch. With two outs and now empty bases, Milchama seemed likely to cut their losses at 6-3 and end the inning. But the onslaught didn't stop there. Delroy Thomson and Mikael Mikaelson both singled to bring Vairya back up for his second at-bat of the inning. He was intentionally walked to load up the bases for a potential force-out, but Rune O'Byrne proved the decision irrelevant when he drove a line drive into the right-center gap for a single, allowing both Thomson and Mikaelsson to slide home for an 8-3 advantage. Milchama's nightmare inning would finally end when Sandström blooped out to left-fielder Tris Speaker.

Both squads would add a spare run in the final inning, but it was Cosumar's eighth inning outburst that lasted twelve at-bats that effectively ended the game.

The Cosumar win sets up a winner-take-all Game 3 series finale tomorrow, here in Denison. First-baseman Hermenegildo Barros will not play due to undergoing surgery on his neck. 30-year-old right-hander Yvain Winslow will get the nod for the start on the mound in the crucial game.

There are not expected to be any changes to the Milchama side unless the World Baseball Classic Committee comes through with decisive findings in their investigation before the game. Cosumarite baseball authorities claim to have evidence that Milchama is fielding ineligible players from the history of an interdimensional entity known as "Major League Baseball".

Thank you for reading! Continue to check The Cosumarite Courier each day for continuous coverage of Team Cosumar's progress in the World Baseball Classic.

Bat Slaves Force Game 3

Gregoryisgodistan's glorious and holy Bat Slaves have forced a Game 3 against Maklohai Vai after a 7 to 6 victory in which Enemy Crusher Bobby Furgles had two home runs, including a grand slam, and also crushed an umpire to death after he was called out on strikes in the top of the ninth. With the score already 7-6, the bases loaded, and a 3-2 count with two outs in the top of the ninth, Rimai Lomukiwo threw a pitch that appeared to miss outside for ball four. However, the wicked, heathen ump, Curtis Johnson of Super-Llamaland, called Enemy Crusher Bobby Furgles out on strikes. This so enraged the brave and noble Enemy Crusher that he crushed Johnson to death as the Gregoryisgodistani fans chanted "DEATH TO THE UMPS!!!!!!!" Johnson was dead and the other umpires were going to eject Enemy Crusher Bobby Furgles but he threatened to crush them too so they didn't.

Game 3 will be this afternoon. As for some reason it is now double elimination, even if Gregoryisgodistan loses they are not eliminated. There will be another series. But nobody here understands how it works so we'll have to wait and find out who we are playing. We might not be playing anyone yet if we win. It's really weird. I don't get it. But DEATH TO UMPS AND DEATH TO PATISTAN, SUPER-LLAMALAND AND JECKLAND, THE DIABLO TRIO OF HOSTS!
