Varish Football, governed by the Association for Varish Football (AVF), is a three tier system with sixteen teams each. The highest tier is the Primary Division sponsored by the Experient Booking Agency, while the lowest tier is the Tertiary Division, sponsored by Telemark. Each division promotes the top three teams and relegates the bottom three. The Cup competition, The Hound's Shield, is open all 48 teams. The most successful side in Varish football is Academica with 28 league titles.

ATHLETICS
Image

The most popular sport in Vermark by participation is athletics. Vermark's professional athletics system is much more structured than that of other nations. While all events are contested once a year at The Sejr Vermark Nationals, long distance events are more competitively organized. The Vermark Athletics Federation (VAF) runs the Sejr Vermark Nationals, the Distance Triple Crown, and the Performade Professional Marathon Series. The Sejr Vermark Nationals are ran once a year and include all Olympic events as well as the Triathlon. The Distance Triple Crown is a series three meets, The Agriholm Grand Prix, The Raskstad Stakes, and the Videnhagen Classic in which there are Men's and Women's 5,000 m and 10,000 meter races; In thirty years of competition, no athlete has swept the all 6 races. The Performade Professional Marathon Series is a newly founded competition. It consists of eight marathons with a overall points system. The male and female with the most points at the end of the season will win $1,000,000.

RUGBY
Image

In Vermark, Rugby is a broad term used to describe the contact codes of football. This includes Rugby League, Rugby Union, Northern Rules (Canadian football), and Handegg (American Football). There are ten different rugby football clubs through Vermark, and most field teams for all four codes of Rugby. These ten clubs are all governed by the Vermark Rugby Federation.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON I PREVIEW
Welcome to the inaugural season of the newly consolidated Association for Varish Football! The creation of the AVF means that this will be the first season that Varish clubs will compete in international competition. With extra incentives on the line, hopefully we will have an exciting season. But first, let's look at the sides!

Image

Academica FC
  • Predicted Finish: 1st
  • [Badge | Kit]
  • Location: Videnhagen
  • Manager: Nicklas Zetterberg
  • Captain: Henrik Stevensson (CAM)
Summary: The most storied club in Vermark is expected to do nothing short of spectacular this season. Great Varish players such as keeper Robert Nyquist, centre-back Axel Lenburg, and midfielder Henrik Stevensson will be able to lead this club to a decisive finish this season. Expect four or fewer losses, over seventy points, and a league title for this season. Operating off of a 4-3-3 formation, Academica plays a passing game with extreme perfection, and the offside-trap-focused defense minimizes goals against like an ogre minimizes cuteness...What?

Raskstad United
  • Predicted Finish: 2nd
  • Location: Raskstad
  • Manager: Oskar Backlund
  • Captain: Samuel Gustavsson (CB)
  • Summary: Raskstad United, Academica FC's little brother, will be a contender but not a contender of this year's league title. Highly effective on the counter tack, their midfield of youngsters are quick and clinical. However, expect turnovers and mistakes to be the fatal flaw of this club. Oskar Backlund, likely the best in the country as far as managers go, has a very deep bench to chose from. Expect decisive wins against good sides, but they won't be good enough to defeat Academica.

Varnskog Forest
  • Predicted Finish: 3rd
  • Location: Varnskog
  • Manager: Erik Larsson
  • Captain: Keith Arnold (LM)
  • Summary: "The Millers" are a primary league power to be reckoned with. Their iron gate defense is good enough to give Forest the lowest goals against of any team in this league. Because of this, expect Brandon Eriksson to win the Golden Glove for this season. Also, look for Keith Arnold to be a menace on set pieces as he has enough bend to arc the ball over the stadium roof. Expect a third place finish for Varnskog; though competitive defensively, they lack the offensive power to score goals this season and will likely finish with a record littered with draws.

FC Agriholm Prairie
  • Predicted Finish: 4th
  • Location: Agriholm
  • Manager: Edward Chenburg
  • Captain: Ryan Tenner (ST)
  • Summary: A good all-around team, the "Farmers" are a strong side but not a great side. Lacking any true superstars, the generic 4-4-2 formation ran by manager Edward Chenberg is effective, but nothing of legendary status. Prairie will get the job done and quality for international competition, but it is unlikely that they will ever get into the top three. However, Ryan Tenner, who is aged 36, might have one last strong season in him, and is a sound competitor for the Golden Boot.

Shipwrights
  • Predicted Finish: 5th
  • Location: Videnhagen
  • Manager: Daniel Marburg
  • Captain: Ronald Dinlund (GK)
  • Summary: The second best Videnhagen team, shipwrights, should be expected to make a good showing this season. Their speed up the wings and aerial threat from their strikers should amount to a decent goals for total. However, their weakness lies within their young back-four, which will task captain Ronald Dinlund with directing them. A team that might easily finish higher, however, their uncertainty in defense makes them unlikely to fulfill their potential this season.

Union Petrovik
  • Predicted Finish: 6th
  • Location: Petrovik
  • Manager: Erik Hanssen
  • Captain: Roberto Martinez (ST)
  • Summary: Once the glory of the working class, Union Petrovik is now an average side with little to show for over the years. Traditionally a strong midfield-oriented team, this 4-5-1 squad is losing it flashiness in the middle of the park as it best midfielders begin to age out. This season will be a huge determiner in the future of this club; if their youngster can rise to the challenge, the Rigmen will have very happy days in coming seasons. Until then, expect Union Petrovik to end their season mid-table.

FK Raskstad
  • Predicted Finish: 7th
  • Location: Raskstad
  • Manager: Teemu Jutburg
  • Captain: Aleksander Abrasson (RB)
  • Summary: A team in the shadow of a team (Raskstad United) in the shadow of a team (Academica), FK Raskstad has somewhat low expectations from year to year, and this year is unlikely to be any different. However, FK has been doing a good job of gaining young recruit that would otherwise go to united. Additionally, new ownership might mean an increased cash flow that can bring in some strong foreigners in the next transfer season. Nevertheless, the expectation for this season is a sound, yet not extraordinary, middle-of-the-table finish.

Vinoburg Athletic
  • Predicted Finish: 8th
  • Location: Vinoburg
  • Manager: Richard Markstrom
  • Captain: Thomas Rask (CB)
  • Summary: Once a competitive team, Vinoburg Athletic has since fallen into the abyss of small-market clubs. However, with a stream of endowments from local wineries, Athletic is back on the upswing. With a top-three back-four, expect the backs of Vinoburg to be crisp and dominant. However, their midfield and striker corp is lagging behind. In summary, few goals against for this side this season, but unfortunately, few goals for too.

Larqvist Rovers
  • Predicted Finish: 9th
  • Location: Larqvist
  • Manager: Jonathon Alfredsson
  • Captain: Reid Sorensson (CM)
  • Summary: With very tactical passing through the midfield, on the exterior, Larqvist looks like a considerable group of footballers. However, their manager, Jonathon Alfredsson, has very limited job stability at the moment, due to a lack of performance in the back-four. The Rovers can keep the ball, but once it does go to the other side, problems arise. Look for a overhaul of centre-backs this season, but if not, look for a sacking and a subsequent hiring from this club.

North Star Enberg
  • Predicted Finish: 10th
  • Location: Enberg
  • Manager: Paul Yzersson
  • Captain: Fredrik Rasholm (CB)
  • Summary: North Star Enberg is a recent promotee on the rise. Their manager Paul Yzersson is a guru of numbers and has made many controversial, yet beneficial, signings. Strikers Scott Dogner and Jason Dillund are very good together and should add up to score the most goas of any striker duo in the league. Expect North Star to be a formidable opponent to any squad, but be wary of the distance this side is yet to travel in order to become a top five club.

Forstader
  • Predicted Finish: 11th
  • Location: Sorenholm
  • Manager: Gerald Kenneth
  • Catain: Nicklas Lanlund (GK)
  • Summary: Nicknamed the "Squad of the Suburbs", this Videnhagen-area club is likened to North Star in many ways. Forstader too has a new-age, statistics oriented manager. However, their power does not come from a striker duo, but a center-midfielder duo made up of Erik Galliger and Adam Kronstrom. This season, it can be with confidence that Forstader is predicted to finish eleventh because they are an improving team, but don't have the experience to be competitive with the best clubs in Vermark.

Varmeon Islanders
  • Predicted Finish: 12th
  • Location: Varmeon
  • Manager: Daniel Savwall
  • Captain: Brandon Kellisson (LB)
  • Summary: Twenty years ago, the Islanders were able to compete with clubs like Academica and Raskstad United. However, the last twenty years have consisted of nothing but decline. They have speed along the touchlines, but very little coherence as an overall group. Furthermore, manager Daniel Savwall's jobs could be considered insecure at this point. There are lots of goals against and a finish in the bottom half in store for this side this season.

Dunsvik Town
  • Predicted Finish: 13th
  • Location: Dunsvik
  • Manager: Axel Dasburg
  • Captain: Jonathon Patriksson (CDM)
  • Summary: The lucky dog sitting right above relegation is Dunsvik Town. Stationed in the beautiful beach resort town of Dunsvik, Town is anything but beautiful as a club. Keeper troubles, financial troubles, manager troubles, and just about any other kind of troubles you can name afflict this club. The only thing the "Beach Boys" have going for them is an experienced, yet aging, midfield. If that midfield can hold on to possession more often than not and produce some goals, Dunsvik has a shot at staying a float. Otherwise, this squad might just go down this season.

Sorstrom AFK
  • Predicted Finish: 14th
  • Location: Sorstrom
  • Manager: Edward Trevorsson
  • Captain: Alfred Goodsson (CB)
  • Summary: Sorstrom will be the highest of the sinkers because they have good strikers, but in total, they are an aging team. Upon relegating, Manager Trevorsson will likely be sacked, if he doesn't retire first. Additionally, many other players should retire, making room for a new generation for this club that might be able to make a return to the Primary Division during the season after next.

Valholm United
  • Predicted Finish: 15th
  • Location: Valholm
  • Manager: David Halqvist
  • Captain: Otto Riksson (LW)
  • Summary: There isn't a whole lot to say about Valholm besides that they don't have what it takes to make it in this division. Promoted to the Primary last season, this is a decent squad, but they're not going to be competitive enough to remain in the top flight.

Latin Athletic
  • Predicted Finish: 16th
  • Location: Burgo
  • Manager: Thomas Kenlund
  • Captain: Troy Youngsson (GK)
  • Summary: The ugliest stepchild of them all, Latin Athletic, has a strong ethnic following, but lacks on-field ability to win enough matches to remain in the highest ranks of Varish football. Latin Athletic will finish as low as can be finished, and won't be returning to the Experient Primary Division any time soon.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON I PART I
Image

Matchday 1
Academica FC 1–1 Latin Athletic
Raskstad United 2–0 Forstader
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–1 Valholm United
Varnskog Forest 3–2 Sorstrom AFK
Union Petrovik 1–0 North Star Enberg
Shipwrights 2–0 Varmeon Islanders
FK Raskstad 1–2 Dunsvik Town
Vinoburg Athletic 0–1 Larqvist Rovers

The Experient Primary Division kicked off in dramatic fashion today. Perhaps the most noteworthy match was Latin Athletic's draw against Academica which was achieved by Athletic's Daniel Gerin scoring a late equalizer. Rasktad's David Isaacsson recorded two goals in a clean sheet win against Forstader. Prairie lost to Valholm in own-goal theatrics. Petrovik, Shipwrights, Dunsvik, and Larqvist all beat North Star, Varmeon, FK Raskstad, and Vinoburg respectively. The last match, Varnskog against Sorstrom, ended with a Forest win thanks to Erik Hjalmar's debut which yielded a hat-trick for the youngster.

Matchday 2
Latin Athletic 1–2 Larqvist Rovers
Dunsvik Town 0–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Varmeon Islanders 0–0 FK Raskstad
North Star Enberg 4–1 Shipwrights
Sorstrom AFK 0–1 Union Petrovik
Valholm United 0–3 Varnskog Forest
Forstader 3–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
Academica FC 2–1 Raskstad United

Academica rebounded from their stunning draw with Latin in a fiery match against United. In one of the most important fixtures of the season, Academica's Henrik Stevensson came through in the eighty third minute to score a game winner from twenty six yards. Varnskog's Erik Hjalmar countinued his electric freshman season with another two goals in the match played against Valholm. North Star, like Academica, turned around to rout Shipwrights with a decisive three goal lead. Petrovik and Larqvist won their second straight match while Agriholm and Sorstrom lost their second straight.

Matchday 3
Raskstad United 1–0 Latin Athletic
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–2 Academica FC
Varnskog Forest 0–3 Forstader
Union Petrovik 1–1 Valholm United
Shipwrights 1–1 Sorstrom AFK
FK Raskstad 2–2 North Star Enberg
Vinoburg Athletic 1–1 Varmeon Islanders
Larqvist Rovers 1–0 Dunsvik Town

In the papers after the third day of play were alarm bells and whistle pointing to continuing trends. Academica FC is a seemingly unstoppable force after causing Prairie to draw another blank and a third straight loss. Larqvist, however, won its third tie in a row, thanks to Dunsvik playing with ten men in the second half. However, Varnskog's forward progress was stopped by Forstader's clean sheet against them. Raskstad United recovered from their defeat to Academica to beat Latin Athletic with a stunning set piece strike from United's David Isaacsson.

Matchday 4
Latin Athletic 1–2 Dunsvik Town
Varmeon Islanders 1–1 Larqvist Rovers
North Star Enberg 1–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Sorstrom AFK 1–1 FK Raskstad
Valholm United 1–1 Shipwrights
Forstader 2–0 Union Petrovik
Academica FC 1–0 Varnskog Forest
Raskstad United 2–3 FC Agriholm Prairie

There were many draws, yet many exciting matches on matchday four. Prairie finally recorded their first win of the season with a win in Raskstad. Academica surpassed Larqvist on the table as Larqvist drew Varmeon for their first fixture of the season that did not end with a win. Forstader's defense, storied as one of the best in the league, kept its third clean sheet in a two-nil win over Petrovik. Finally, Dunsvik's Calvin Paulon won the game from his side with a rocketed penalty kick in the sixty third minute.

Matchday 5
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–1 Latin Athletic
Varnskog Forest 0–0 Raskstad United
Union Petrovik 1–0 Academica FC
Shipwrights 0–1 Forstader
FK Raskstad 1–3 Valholm United
Vinoburg Athletic 0–2 Sorstrom AFK
Larqvist Rovers 1–1 North Star Enberg
Dunsvik Town 2–0 Varmeon Islanders

As the squad begin to morph into mid-season form, the action is just heating up. Agriholm's first win proved to be a fluke as they lost their fourth match, this time to Latin Athletic. Academica was upset by Union Petrovik, with Roberto Martinez scoring a stoppage time goal to put down the Scholars. Forstader beat Shipwrights to secure a fourth win and first place on the table. Larqvist once again drew, signalling that their early head start is fading. Dunsvik beat Varmeon dominately in order to get their their win this season. Varnskog's scoring machine has also been silenced, and Erik Hjalmar hasn't scored a goal since scoring five in the first two matches.

Matchday 6
Latin Athletic 1–1 Varmeon Islanders
North Star Enberg 0–1 Dunsvik Town
Sorstrom AFK 2–1 Larqvist Rovers
Valholm United 3–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Forstader 1–0 FK Raskstad
Academica FC 3–0 Shipwrights
Raskstad United 1–0 Union Petrovik
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–0 Varnskog Forest

In the head lines after the first fifth season has been stories of surges and downfalls. Larqvist lost their first match so far when they were dropped by Sorstrom. Forstader stays on top as they defeated FK Raskstad. Academica got redemption from their loss to Petrovik by putting three goals past keeper Ronnie Dinlund, two of those goals were via superstar Henrik Stevensson. Petrovik, however, wasn't able to keep up any steam from their win over Academica; United defeated them easily.

Matchday 7
Varnskog Forest 2–0 Latin Athletic
Union Petrovik 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Shipwrights 1–1 Raskstad United
FK Raskstad 1–3 Academica FC
Vinoburg Athletic 1–2 Forstader
Larqvist Rovers 0–0 Valholm United
Dunsvik Town 1–2 Sorstrom AFK
Varmeon Islanders 2–3 North Star Enberg

In today's action, Varnskog regained some of its swagger with the two-nil defeat of the Latins. Erik Hjalmar contributed to one of these goals. Forstader suffered their first goal against since matchday two, yet the didn't lose the match and remain two points of Academica. Academica defeated FK Raskstad, and Henrik Stevensson secured a hat-trick and an easy lead for the golden boat so far this season. Valholm drew against Larqvist which makes those two teams tied for third in the table. Sorstrom and North Star also gained three points for their respective campaigns in a pair of close, one-goal games.

Matchday 8
Latin Athletic 1–1 North Star Enberg
Sorstrom AFK 1–1 Varmeon Islanders
Valholm United 2–1 Dunsvik Town
Forstader 3–1 Larqvist Rovers
Academica FC 2–0 Vinoburg Athletic
Raskstad United 2–1 FK Raskstad
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–2 Shipwrights
Varnskog Forest 1–1 Union Petrovik

Forstader wins again and becomes the first team to record twenty points this season. Academica also won, keeping their pursuit of Forstader close and Henrik Stevensson's case for Golden Boot very convincing. Prairie is still looking for a second win. The Farmers are deep in relegation territory and manager Edward Chenburg teeters close to the point of sacking. Valholm beat Dunsvik with a swift two goals scored late in the second half; in the process, they surpasses the Rovers and find themselves third from the top of the table.

Matchday 9
Union Petrovik 1–0 Latin Athletic
Shipwrights 2–1 Varnskog Forest
FK Raskstad 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Vinoburg Athletic 0–2 Raskstad United
Larqvist Rovers 0–1 Academica FC
Dunsvik Town 1–3 Forstader
Varmeon Islanders 0–0 Valholm United
North Star Enberg 2–1 Sorstrom AFK

Forstader can't stop winning, and they keep doing so in dominating fashion. Academica also won, handing Larqvist their second straight defeat. Erik Hjalmar continued his impressive first season, however, it wasn't enough and Forest found themselves defeat by Shipwrights. Upon Valholm's draw to Varmeon, a truly wretched team, Raskstad United jumped to second with David Isaacson scoring two, lifting the squad to third on the table. Prairie once again cannot win, and they'll remain in the bottom three.

Matchday 10
Latin Athletic 1–1 Sorstrom AFK
Valholm United 1–1 North Star Enberg
Forstader 1–1 Varmeon Islanders
Academica FC 0–2 Dunsvik Town
Raskstad United 0–1 Larqvist Rovers
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–0 Vinoburg Athletic
Varnskog Forest 1–0 FK Raskstad
Union Petrovik 0–1 Shipwrights

When Forstader drew against Varmeon in the early game this week, the nation was certain Academica would take over the top of the league. However, the scholars were beaten by Dunsvik Town, so the gap between them and Forstader increased to three points. Likewise, Raskstad United also lost. Despite the big dogs losing, Prairie was able to get it together to defeat Vinoburg Athletic. Varnskog and Shipwrights also won with the same scoreline as Prairie and Rovers.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON I PART II
Image

Matchday 11
Shipwrights 0–1 Latin Athletic
FK Raskstad 0–1 Union Petrovik
Vinoburg Athletic 1–0 Varnskog Forest
Larqvist Rovers 2–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
Dunsvik Town 0–3 Raskstad United
Varmeon Islanders 3–1 Academica FC
North Star Enberg 2–1 Forstader
Sorstrom AFK 1–0 Valholm United

The second third of the season kicked off with no lapses in drama. The bottom team, Varmeon Islanders, beat Academica by a resounding two goals thanks to the Scholars' centre-back Otto Theristrom being sent off in the stoppage time of the first half. Forstader, also lost their day eleven match against North Star, who capitalized off of an own-goal by Forstader. FC Agriholm played a strong game, however, it was not enough to get anything more than one point. Rasktad United was able to shut down Dunsvik and can thank David Isaacson for producing a brace. The race for first remains close, the race for top four is even tighter.

Matchday 12
Latin Athletic 2–1 Valholm United
Forstader 3–1 Sorstrom AFK
Academica FC 3–1 North Star Enberg
Raskstad United 1–0 Varmeon Islanders
FC Agriholm Prairie 2–3 Dunsvik Town
Varnskog Forest 0–1 Larqvist Rovers
Union Petrovik 2–2 Vinoburg Athletic
Shipwrights 1–1 FK Raskstad

Both Forstader and Academica rebounded to capture wins of identical scorelines. Henrik Stevensson scored yet another two goals, while Forstader striker Fredrik Ollssen also netted two. Raskstad also won, this time with another clean sheet. A win for Larqvist and a draw for Petrovik results in a tie for fourth place in the league. Once again, Prairie loses and manager Edward Chenburg is coming very close to losing employment at that club.

Matchday 13
FK Raskstad 0–2 Latin Athletic
Vinoburg Athletic 0–1 Shipwrights
Larqvist Rovers 0–1 Union Petrovik
Dunsvik Town 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Varmeon Islanders 0–3 FC Agriholm Prairie
North Star Enberg 0–1 Raskstad United
Sorstrom AFK 1–1 Academica FC
Valholm United 4–1 Forstader

Theatrics are continuing in this league. A ten-man Forstader is crushed by Valholm United, who cruised into fifth place following a Rovers loss. Academica, who would've taken over the lead with a win, ended drawing Sorstrom. Unlike Academica, Raskstad United did capitalize on the opportunity and caught up to Academica with shutout against Enberg. Prairie manager Edward Chenburg lives to see another day as his squad defeated Varmeon three-nil. Finally, in a critical match, Petrovik defeated Larqvist to take solid control of fourth place. In more predictable news, Islanders' manager Daniel Savwall was sacked and replaced interim manager Fredrik Sorana.

Matchday 14
Latin Athletic 2–2 Forstader
Academica FC 0–0 Valholm United
Raskstad United 2–0 Sorstrom AFK
FC Agriholm Prairie 2–2 North Star Enberg
Varnskog Forest 1–1 Varmeon Islanders
Union Petrovik 2–3 Dunsvik Town
Shipwrights 3–3 Larqvist Rovers
FK Raskstad 3–2 Vinoburg Athletic

Both Forstader and Academica have come down with mid-season struggles. Henrik Stevensson rolled an ankle in the draw versus Valholm, and he will miss at least the next two matches. Forstader doesn't have any major outstanding injuries, but they too have gone for a recent slide. This has made room for Raskstad to surpass Academica and Forstader with twenty nine points. This is largely thanks to the outstanding defense of back Samuel Gustavsson and keeper Jukka Sedin. A Petrovik loss and a Larqvist draw has enabled the race for fourth to remain close, but Valholm has taken over from Rovers to be the squad in hot pursuit of the Oilers.

Matchday 15
Vinoburg Athletic 3–2 Latin Athletic
Larqvist Rovers 0–1 FK Raskstad
Dunsvik Town 1–2 Shipwrights
Varmeon Islanders 1–0 Union Petrovik
North Star Enberg 0–0 Varnskog Forest
Sorstrom AFK 0–0 FC Agriholm Prairie
Valholm United 0–1 Raskstad United
Forstader 1–0 Academica FC

In a huge match, Forstader narrowly defeated Academica with a late, stoppage time goal to take a five point lead over the scholars. However, a Raskstad win means that the "Yellows" will stay in first for at least another matchday. Prairie drew Sorstrom, indicating that the three goal win against Islanders wasn't a sign of a resurgence. Losses for all three of the teams competing for fourth allows that tight race to continue, however, with a win over Dunsvik Town, Shipwrights find themselves in that crucial fourth place.

Matchday 16
Latin Athletic 1–2 Academica FC
Forstader 0–1 Raskstad United
Valholm United 3–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
Sorstrom AFK 0–0 Varnskog Forest
North Star Enberg 2–1 Union Petrovik
Varmeon Islanders 1–3 Shipwrights
Dunsvik Town 4–0 FK Raskstad
Larqvist Rovers 3–1 Vinoburg Athletic

The second half of the season was somewhat of a watershed moment. Forstader lost to Raskstad, which allowed Raskstad to create more space between them and second place. Academica's victory against Latin allowed the Scholars to come closer to second, but they'll remain third for another while. Another win for Shipwrights looks like that team will stay fourth for at least a few more matchdays. Finally, in headline news, Edward Chenburg was finally relieved of his position at Prairie after the Farmers suffered yet another loss. His job will be filled by Axel Kopqvist, the former manager of the successfl University of Videnhagen squad.

Matchday 17
Larqvist Rovers 2–1 Latin Athletic
Vinoburg Athletic 0–2 Dunsvik Town
FK Raskstad 2–1 Varmeon Islanders
Shipwrights 1–2 North Star Enberg
Union Petrovik 3–1 Sorstrom AFK
Varnskog Forest 1–2 Valholm United
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–0 Forstader
Raskstad United 1–1 Academica FC

Once again, Forstader losses, however Academica couldn't muster a win against Raskstad United in order to move into second place. Axel Kopqvist's debut went exactly as planned as his side defeated Forstader with a clean sheet. Shipwrights loss to North Star allowed for Valholm to resecure the fourth place on the table. The race for first and fourth are both very tight, and the battle to avoid relegation is equally close.

Matchday 18
Latin Athletic 1–1 Raskstad United
Academica FC 2–0 FC Agriholm Prairie
Forstader 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Valholm United 0–0 Union Petrovik
Sorstrom AFK 0–1 Shipwrights
North Star Enberg 1–1 FK Raskstad
Varmeon Islanders 2–0 Vinoburg Athletic
Dunsvik Town 1–2 Larqvist Rovers

Both Forstader and Raskstad United drew today, and unlike previous matchdays, Academica did win in order to move up the table. Henrik Stevensson came off of his injury with great gusto and scored both goals in the two-nothing victory against Prairie. Fourth place once again changed hands, this time in favor of Rovers, who moved into the top four at the expense of Valholm and Petrovik drawing each other. The lead that Raskstad has over Academica is down to three points, and the Scholars will be vying deeply to secure that first place before the season heads into its final third.

Matchday 19
Dunsvik Town 1–1 Latin Athletic
Larqvist Rovers 0–0 Varmeon Islanders
Vinoburg Athletic 1–0 North Star Enberg
FK Raskstad 0–0 Sorstrom AFK
Shipwrights 2–0 Valholm United
Union Petrovik 2–1 Forstader
Varnskog Forest 3–3 Academica FC
FC Agriholm Prairie 2–2 Raskstad United

Both Raskstad and Academica drew today, wit Forstader losing. Erik Hjamar showed up to put on a show in Varnskog as he scored two goals in the late second half to draw the match. Prairie has been faring much better under Kopqvist, with a draw against a very good Rastad United squad. Forstader, however, has been the target of many "I told you so"s and has been ridiculed for trying to turn football into a purely numbers game. Forstader's recent slide has been offered as evidence for this statistics-oriented tactic's dismissal. In other news, Shipwrights defeat of Valholm and Larqvist draw against Varmeon has allowed that team to once again become position in fourth.

Matchday 20
Latin Athletic 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Raskstad United 2–2 Varnskog Forest
Academica FC 3–1 Union Petrovik
Forstader 1–3 Shipwrights
Valholm United 2–4 FK Raskstad
Sorstrom AFK 2–0 Vinoburg Athletic
North Star Enberg 0–1 Larqvist Rovers
Varmeon Islanders 1–0 Dunsvik Town

In the final matchday of the second third, Academica's campaign for first has become twice as formidable. Academica's Stevensson scored two goals in their match against Union, while Raskstad United drew against Forest. This has brought the deficit down to one point between Raskstad and Academica. Meanwhile, Forstader lost again, making the race for first into a two-way affair. In fact, Forstader now find themselves all the way in fourth, with Shipwrights in third. Another draw for Agriholm has been enough to lift the squad away from the danger zone and into thirteenth place. The action is on the brink of getting even hotter as the Experient Primary Division heads into the final third of play.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON I PART III
Image

Matchday 21
Varmeon Islanders 3–2 Latin Athletic
Dunsvik Town 4–1 North Star Enberg
Larqvist Rovers 4–2 Sorstrom AFK
Vinoburg Athletic 2–0 Valholm United
FK Raskstad 2–1 Forstader
Shipwrights 1–3 Academica FC
Union Petrovik 1–1 Raskstad United
Varnskog Forest 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie

The top of the table changed hands for the seventh time this season. A convincing win over Shipwrights launched Academica over Raskstad United who went home from Petrovik with a draw. Academica's win, thanks to a Henrik Stevensson triplet, is their twelfth for the season. Raskstad, however, was handed a draw for the seventh time this season. Despite this lead change, the title is very much up for grabs; Raskstad trails Academica by only a point. Forstader's losing streak continues with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Raskstad United; The Squad of the Suburbs have lost their third straight and haven't won since their matchday fifteen triumph over Academica. Meanwhile on the other half of the standings, FK Rasktad, Agriholm Prairie, and Latin Athletic remian locked in a battle to stay alive. These last ten matches are guaranteed to produce great matches of football.

Matchday 22
Latin Athletic 3–2 Varnskog Forest
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–0 Union Petrovik
Raskstad United 0–0 Shipwrights
Academica FC 1–0 FK Raskstad
Forstader 1–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Valholm United 1–1 Larqvist Rovers
Sorstrom AFK 0–1 Dunsvik Town
North Star Enberg 0–1 Varmeon Islanders

The sprint for the finish has in many ways begun. Academica shut down FK Raskstad, while United once again, could not win. Forstader has extended its winless spell and is now down to fifth in the table. Prairie mustered a hard win again Petrovik, which was good enough to boost them too eleventh, well outside of the relegation zone. Shipwrights' draw against United was good enough to have them stabilize themselves in fourth, passing up Forstader. Vinoburg, FK Raskstad, and Sorstrom currently round out the bottom three and are poised to drop below for the next season.

Matchday 23
North Star Enberg 0–3 Latin Athletic
Varmeon Islanders 1–1 Sorstrom AFK
Dunsvik Town 0–3 Valholm United
Larqvist Rovers 3–1 Forstader
Vinoburg Athletic 2–1 Academica FC
FK Raskstad 0–1 Raskstad United
Shipwrights 0–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Union Petrovik 2–1 Varnskog Forest

Just when Academica looked to pull away, they lose on the same day Raskstad United wins the Raskstad derby. Both United and Academica are tied with forty four points. Prairie has really gone on a late season surge as they beat fourth place Shipwrights to move up to tenth. However, somee things have failed to change. Forstader lost again and two of three bottom teams remained, with Varnskog dropping below in favor of Sorstrom.

Matchday 24
Latin Athletic 2–2 Union Petrovik
Varnskog Forest 2–2 Shipwrights
FC Agriholm Prairie 4–0 FK Raskstad
Raskstad United 1–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Academica FC 0–3 Larqvist Rovers
Forstader 0–1 Dunsvik Town
Valholm United 1–3 Varmeon Islanders
Sorstrom AFK 0–1 North Star Enberg

A stunning day has transpired with six matches left. Prairie decisively beat a ten man FK Raskstad with Ryan Tenner recording all four goals for the Farmers. Academica drew a blank against Rovers, losing by an entire three goals. United took first place from the Scholars with a draw against Vinoburg. The last six matches are destined to be very close, and we might not have a winner until matchday thirty.

Matchday 25
Sorstrom AFK 0–5 Latin Athletic
North Star Enberg 0–0 Valholm United
Varmeon Islanders 0–2 Forstader
Dunsvik Town 3–2 Academica FC
Larqvist Rovers 0–1 Raskstad United
Vinoburg Athletic 2–3 FC Agriholm Prairie
FK Raskstad 0–1 Varnskog Forest
Shipwrights 1–2 Union Petrovik

Academica loses again, and this time Raskstad manages a win, increasing the Yellows' lead to four points. It was controversial, but Dunsvik town was awarded a late penalty kick, and it cost Academica the game. Raskstad, however, managed a close win against third place Rovers. Dunvik's win, in addition to Rovers' loss, was enough to power Town into fourth. However, nothing is certain as Forstader, Shipwrights, and Petrovik are all only one point behind Dunsvik. Meanwhile, Prairie wins again, and is now eighth on the table; what looked like a season doomed for the secondary division might finish with a top half result.

Matchday 26
Latin Athletic 2–1 Shipwrights
Union Petrovik 0–1 FK Raskstad
Varnskog Forest 0–1 Vinoburg Athletic
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–2 Larqvist Rovers
Raskstad United 1–0 Dunsvik Town
Academica FC 2–2 Varmeon Islanders
Forstader 0–4 North Star Enberg
Valholm United 1–0 Sorstrom AFK

Another Raskstad win and an Academica failure to win is good news for United. However, with Academica only getting a draw, they were subsequently passed for second by Larqvist Rovers who cooled off Prairie's hot-streak with a clean sheet against the Farmers. Forstader went back to their losing ways majorly, this time losing by four goals to North Star Enberg. The bottom of the table still looks strikingly similar, with Sorstrom, FK Raskstad, and Vinoburg making up the condemned.

Matchday 27
Valholm United 2–2 Latin Athletic
Sorstrom AFK 0–2 Forstader
North Star Enberg 2–0 Academica FC
Varmeon Islanders 2–3 Raskstad United
Dunsvik Town 3–3 FC Agriholm Prairie
Larqvist Rovers 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Vinoburg Athletic 4–2 Union Petrovik
FK Raskstad 0–1 Shipwrights

Academica fails to have a victory once again, and their chances of getting back to first are slim to none. United pulls to seven points ahead of Larqvist. Forstader had a rare good match against Sorstrom, and the Suburbians now find themselves in fourth. Prairie drew for the ninth time this season, and despite being all the way in eighth just a few matches ago, they are down in eleventh. Despite the top being spread out, the bottom is very close, and any one twelfth or below is in desperate danger of being sucked down into the second tier.

Matchday 28
Latin Athletic 2–1 FK Raskstad
Shipwrights 5–1 Vinoburg Athletic
Union Petrovik 1–1 Larqvist Rovers
Varnskog Forest 2–1 Dunsvik Town
FC Agriholm Prairie 2–3 Varmeon Islanders
Raskstad United 2–0 North Star Enberg
Academica FC 2–1 Sorstrom AFK
Forstader 1–1 Valholm United

Raskstad United clinches the Experient Primary Division championship with a win against North Star Enberg! Academica's win against Sorstrom wasn't enough to keep their title hopes alive. The Scholars, however, are still tied with Larqvist, and second place still is up in the air. Fourth is equally alive for the taking; Shipwrights have it currently with Forstader two points behind. Prairie has gone back on a drought and fail to win for the second straight game. In terms of Relegation, Sorstrom is definitely no longer a Primary Division squad, but Raskstad and Vinoburg are very much alive.

Matchday 29
Forstader 0–1 Latin Athletic
Valholm United 0–1 Academica FC
Sorstrom AFK 1–3 Raskstad United
North Star Enberg 1–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
Varmeon Islanders 1–3 Varnskog Forest
Dunsvik Town 2–1 Union Petrovik
Larqvist Rovers 3–2 Shipwrights
Vinoburg Athletic 0–0 FK Raskstad

Both Academica and Rovers win, but Rovers remain ahead on goal difference with a plus thirteen versus Academica's plus eleven. Shipwrights remain fourth, but their place has the possibility of being taken by Forstader. On the bottom, three teams compete to not be the two that will be relegated. At this moment, Varnskog is afloat with thirty one points, followed by Vinoburg with twenty nine and FK Raskstad with twenety eight.

Matchday 30
Latin Athletic 1–3 Vinoburg Athletic
FK Raskstad 3–1 Larqvist Rovers
Shipwrights 1–1 Dunsvik Town
Union Petrovik 2–0 Varmeon Islanders
Varnskog Forest 0–1 North Star Enberg
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–2 Sorstrom AFK
Raskstad United 1–1 Valholm United
Academica FC 1–1 Forstader

In this last day of action, Larqvist loses, and Academica wins, granting second to the Scholars. Shipwrights hold on to fourth and secure the last Globe Cup entry. Academica's one goal against Larqvist was scored by Henrik Stevensson was enough to break the tie with David Isaacsson and give the Golden Boot to Stevensson. The relegatees for this season are Vinoburg Atheltic, FK Raskstad, and Sorstrom AFK. The problem-ridden Agriholm Prairie finished eleventh and can be considered a success based on that club's position in the mid-season. Overall, it was a very exciting season with lots to play for and it produced some of the best football Vermark has ever seen.

VARISH FOOTBALL PRE-SEASON II TRANSFERS
Image

GK - Ronald Dinlund (Age 24 - Shipwrights)
After finishing barely below the international competition zone, Dinlund is looking to get out. As the youngest of the three best Varish goalies, he has the most potential to have a lengthy career as a national team member. Without ever having an injury, Dinlund is a young, athletic keeper who is as much of an acrobat as he is a footballer. His only problems are to do with judgement, which will go away if he is picked up by a good club with a strong manager. Signed by Jackson City, Star United States

ST - Erik Hjamar (Age 20 - Varnskog Forest)
With a fantastic debut season, Erik Hjamar is the epitome of the future of Varish football. He is young and still needs some experience, but after scoring the third most goals in the league, he can be a great addition to any squad. He plays best in a one striker system with himself as the target man. He makes very clinical finishes and is not scared to get rough on the ball. He is a natural competitor, but with that comes some fire that may leave him prone to bookings.
Signed by Molsbik Arkjet, Semarland

LM - Herbert Alfredsson (Age 29 - Raskstad United)
A very versatile player, Alfredsson was a good player to have on the bench for Raskstad United, who went to the Globe Cup in there first season of entry into UICA competition. Alfredsson typically played on the left wing when he came on as a substitute for United and scored two goals over the course of international play. However, Alfredsson isn't particularly fond of playing off the bench, and is looking for a starting role abroad. He has great speed and ball control and is a great asset to have for set piece such as free kicks from the flanks as well as corners.
Signed by Iry Shore, Star United States

CB - Samuel Salquist (Age 27 - Dunsvik Town)
Salquist is easily one of the best centre-backs in Vermark and will be in the starting eleven of the national team for sure. He gained some playing time against foreign teams when Town qualified for UICA. He is a master when playing the off side trap, however, he lacks the size that is needed to win 50/50 balls. Salquist will make a good back for a team that needs speed more than it needs size.
Signed by Old Boys Club, Eura

Free Transfers
RB - Nicklas Dalstrom (Age 20 - University of Videnhagen) Signed by FC Nuholm, Semarland
CDM - Trevor Connorberg (Age 20 - Ansager University)
LM - Paul Olsson (Age 20 - Raskstad University)
RM - Daniel Kissinger (Age 20 - Sonder School of Design)
CAM - Alec Djorn (Age 20 - Agriholm Agricultural Instiute)
ST - Cameron Halburg (Age 38 - Unattached)
GK - Bradley Thomasson (Age 39 - Unattached)

[OOC: This list may be added to and I will consider offers made on players that are named in the league posts I've made in this thread.]

Varish Hockey Premiership
Pre-Season 95 Power Rankings

Coming away from an impressive showing at the Winter Olympics and the most recent World Cup of Hockey, the Premiership is set to kick of its first season of international eligibility. Let's get going with a look of how the teams shape up at the start of the season.

1. Petrovik Oilers

The Oilers look like they have the goods to have a superb season. Their primary fuel source is the $30 million, 6 year signing of Erik Lorensson who just recently graduated from the University of Videnhagen. Lorensson will be a key component of the Oilers from the get-go; he was the leading goalscorer on both the junior and senior teams at their respective world cups. Lorensson will also continue to get to play with his World Cup line-mate Einar Axelson and head coach Henrik Norling. Expect Petrovik to play with a lot of place and offense, yet don't count out their defense either - they'll likely be invigorated by that offense and make the Oilers championship contenders.

2. Metropolitan

"Met" will be a strong team as always. They have the advantage of experience on their side. Nicklas Lange, Ake Wilhelmsen, Nicklas Eriksen, and Mats Hermansen are all veteran national team members who aren't out of their prime just yet. Look to young guns on the fourth line like Roland Hallman and Karl Gustafsson to pull their weight. No doubt, Metropolitan will be a very formidable team this season.

3. Agriholm Mustangs

Agriholm never fails to be a powerhouse, but this season is especially promising. Their defensive pairs are a head coach's dream come true after trades for national star Einar Nordskov and super prospect Sigvard Jansson occurred over the off-season. These two will join the likes of Aron Olsen and Peter Fredriksen as they try to contend for the Premiership title. Watch out for Coach Frans Albertsson to bring some interesting strategies to the table.

4. Raskstad Lions

Not as well rounded as others, the Lions have a lot of talent in their forward lines, but are lacking defensively. Matthias Ottosen and Rune Frank are both very skilled wingers, and Thor Hansson is an increasing offensive defenseman. Needless to say, head coach Arvid Bergfalk will need to make adjustments as the season wears on. There are a lot of changes in the future of the Raskstad Lions, such as the impending goalie battle between the veteran Krister Karlsson and youngster Tim Albrechtsson, as well as possibly trading a forward like Ottosen or Frank to bolster up the team's defenses.

5. Dunsvik Sandmen

We round off the top five with the Sandmen. They also possess a star-studded line-up, but lack the depth of Metropolitan or Petrovik. Their two most influential players are center Stefan Lunds and netminder Martin Sorensson. The Sandmen will be forced to rely on their prospect system, however, there is a considerable amount of talent in that pool of players, so they might actually benefit from their relative lack of depth.

...

With international competition up for grabs, we are destined to have a thrilling season. Stayed tuned for exciting Premiership action!

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON 2 PREVIEW
After Raskstad United's phenomenal triumph in international competition and a hectic transfer period for all sixteen Varish clubs, the Varish Primary Division is prepared to return to action right away. Let's have a look at the sides that will be contending for the prestige of Vermark's highest tier.

Image

The Championship Contenders:

1. Raskstad United
Manager: Oskar Backlund
Starting XI: Sedin, Eisberg, Gustavsson (c), Rockstrom, Taller, Merin, Polskin, Jacobsen, Barstholm, Karls, Isaacson

They said it couldn't be done. They said football is an art, not a science. Yet, Backlund proved them wrong with his adoption of the saber-metric revolution that is taking place across all of sport in Vermark. Instead of encouraging players to adapt to him, Backlund adapted to them. Homesick players were given care-givers. Weak players were conditioned. Misbehaving players were given counseling. The whole idea is to buy cheap players with high potential, and then use the money saved to mitigate against the risks. Additionally, the team operated with the direction of hordes of statistics. For example, club staff are told to count the number of times a player loses possession in a single game; the three players who most frequently give up the ball are replaced for the next match. The applications are endless, but the basic idea is this: numbers, numbers, numbers. Backlund looks at past results to predict future success, instead of how big a players is or how much confidence he has. This can be risky, but it has worked. It's worked so well that he has more capital to put into this project after signing a $25 million shirt sponsorship with Omnium Technology. David Isaacson, the poster child of the Saber-metric Movement, is slated to have another break out season and possibly pass his goal total from last season and net thirty or more goals. Jukka Sedin and Gustavsson represent strong leadership in the back and will likely continue to keep the goals against column at the minimum for United. Backlund and his data-wizards would agree, all the indicators are looking good for Raskstad.

2. Academica
Manager: Nicklas Zetterberg
Starting XI: Nyquist, Lenburg, Carlsson, Roland, Kartashkin (POL), Sansvik, Oscarsson, Bornsquist, Talsteen, Stevensson (c), Blonquist (POL)

If United represents the new age revolutionaries, then Academica resembles the establishment, to a point. After a disappointing finish last season and an even more disappointing international campaign, Manager Nicklas Zetterberg went to extreme measures to get his team back on track. He started by committing his team to fitness. All twenty-three members of the roster were required to undergo a marathon train regiment and run a marathon under three hours. The boys also went through heavy weight lifting, advanced scientific testing, and precise nutritional guidance. Zetterberg's strategy at-large has been to "fight science with science" when it comes to getting revenge against United. Outside the training ground, respectable progress has also been made. Two Polaaskan players were signed, including fullback Radoslav Kartashkin and striker Heiko Blonquist. Zetterberg is betting on the increased diversity making his team stronger. It will be a tight race between these two, but at the end of the day Raskstad has more momentum.

3. Larquist Rovers
Manager: Jonathon Alfredsson
Starting XI: Eisberg, Preben, Olafs, Oxen-Hans, Andersvik, Sorensson (c), Image Webb , Apollo, Danielsson, Talon, Welstrom

The Rovers surprised everyone last season when they qualified for the Globe Cup and made it as deep into the competition as Academica did. Unsurprisingly, the was followed with a nice, inward flow of cash. Purchases have been made for top prospects like Vare Erik Apollo and Jackson Webb of Star United States. With a young team, it will definitely be hard for Alfredsson to manage, but it will pay dividends in a few years. Expect Sorensson to really step up as a leader and key players this season. He s a very talented central midfielder who will act as the fulcrum for this squad over the course of the upcoming season. Their new grounds just 75 kilometres North of Videnhagen will make this year that much more sweet for this up-and-coming team. Another third place finish is in the works for these lads, but look forward to higher results in future seasons.

The Qualifying Quarrelers

4. Agriholm Prairie
5. Dunsvik Town
6. Shipwrights
7. Forstader

The race for that last Globe Cup ticket will be extremely tight. After a depressing last season, it looks like Prairie is back in order after ousting manager Edward Chenburg. Agriholm has multiple promising youngster coming up through the system, so they look in good shape for their campaign this season. Dunsvik Town, on the other hand, will be vying to return to Globe Cup and will give Prairie a run for their money. Town has also done their fair hare of wheeling a dealing; they signed multiple top collegiate recruits before the start of this season. Following them is the South Videnhagen side, Shipwrights. After putting all their money into a new, 38,000-seater stadium, Crystal Sound Docks, they did not have a lot left over for roster improvement, so their squad looks pretty much the same. Forstader rounds out this group. The "Side of the Suburbs" looks similar to how the looked last season, but with major improvements to their striking corps after buying star striker Gustav Belquist from relegated FK Raskstad.

The Mid-range Mediocrities

8. Union Petrovik
9. North Star Enberg
10. Latin Athletic
11. Varnskog Forest
12. Malerisk Park Rangers

In the middle of the table, we see few surprises, but some significant storylines. One of which is Union Petrovik trying to become a top-six club by making multiple moves this off-season to improve the side. With more oil drilling occurring in the Varish Modraine Sea, some more cash should flow into this club, giving it a bigger salary and thus, better results. North Star Enberg should also be an interesting team to watch over the course of these next thirty games; North Star has a new strategy of recruiting footballers from secondary school and have them gain experience in the professional realms versus the collegiate realms. This could very well pay off. Next, we look to Latin Athletic. Athletic is a peculiar side, and very unpredictable. Against public opinion, the Board of Athletic opted to keep manager Thomas Kenlund in power. Like Enberg's recruiting tactic, this decision is impossible to judge and will have to be evaluated in retrospect later on. In Varnskog, better times are ahead, but a very far ways ahead. After selling Erik Hjamar, very little has come of this past transfer window. There are some young affiliates that have promise, but they won't play for Forest until next season or the season after. They'll stay afloat, but not by much. Finally, the last team of this grouping is the Malerisk Park Rangers who play in the beautiful town of Malerisk in the Varish mountains. This is the only one of the three promotees who are expected to stay in the Primary Division for more than one season. This is because they are a perfect in terms of the age of their players, and they possess a very intelligent manager, Anders Hansrik.

The Relegation Rumblers

13. Valholm United
14. Varmeon Islanders
15. FK Brokers
16. FK Sorenholm

Last, and actually least, we have those fighting to stay alive. There isn't much to be said about the two teams that just came up. They are both young and aren't of the same caliber of the other squads. Valholm can cite money issues for its ailment. Varmeon has a weak manager. In reality, the only competition here is between Valholm and Islanders. We shall see what happens when push comes to shove, but do not expect much, since this is relegation battle will certainly not be much of a battle at all.

Varish Hockey Premiership
Mid-Season 95 Power Rankings

We're halfway through the season, but we haven't seen a fraction of the action! Let's take a look at the league table after nineteen games.

Varish Hockey Premiership Pld W L GF GA GD Pts
1 Metropolitan 19 15 3 39 16 +23 31 HCL Qualification
2 Petrovik Oilers 19 12 6 33 19 +14 25 HCL Qualification
3 Raskstad Lions 19 11 7 31 23 +8 23 HCL Qualification
4 Rostesson Regents 19 11 7 26 20 +6 23 HCL Qualification

5 Agriholm Mustangs 19 10 7 32 23 +9 22
6 Vinoburg Vikings 19 10 8 28 24 +4 21
7 Sorstrom Bears 19 9 8 28 28 0 20
8 Varmeon Buccaneers 19 8 8 25 22 +3 19
9 Olthrup Brewers 19 9 9 29 29 0 19
10 Axelvik Jaguars 19 7 7 21 22 −1 19
11 North End Nationals 19 8 8 20 24 −4 19
12 Komark Cowboys 19 8 9 28 26 +2 18
13 Varnskog Millers 19 5 6 24 25 −1 18
14 Pescvik Sharks 19 9 10 25 29 −4 18
15 Valholm Knights 19 7 10 21 32 −11 16
16 Enberg Wolves 19 7 11 19 29 −10 15
17 Sorenholm Raiders 19 6 11 20 25 −5 14
18 Dunsvik Sandmen 19 6 11 25 33 −8 14
19 Jutland Giants 19 5 11 24 36 −12 13
20 Frutolind Hawks 19 6 12 25 38 −13 13

Note: 2 points award for win. 1 point awarded to both sides if game proceeds to shootout.

1. ▲(2) Metropolitan (15-3-1)
The Premiership leaders have been indescribably good so far. Nicklas Lange leads the league with twenty one points so far. Everyone on Metropolitan has been pulling their weight. Met's fourth line is comparable to the second line of almost any other team. It is unlikely that anyone else will be able to catch these guys.

2. ▼(1) Petrovik Oilers (12-6-1)
The Oilers have been faring well, but not as well as first expected. The blame for this goes to the injury of netminder Anders Ulstrup, who was emerging as one of the Premiership's best until he suffered a torn hamstring in Matchday 10. He is expected to return on Matchday 24, but until then, etrovik has some serious defensive slack they need to pull in.

3. ▲(UR) Rostesson Regents (11-7-1)
This is a squad that no one saw coming. Rostesson, the second most populous city of the Prairies region of Vermark, apparently has a pretty good hockey teams. The Regents have done well for themselves particularly thanks to their forward lines. They play with pace and aggression that give teams like Metropolitan a hard time. Don't be surprised if Rostesson finishes even higher up on the table.

4. -- Raskstad Lions (11-7-1)
The Lions have been fierce competitors so far. Thor Hansson seems to have solved the defense crisis of the Lions; his play has transitioned to a more two-way style. Meanwhile, Matthias Ottosen is first in league scoring with twelve goals to his name. The Lions are definitely looking like they will go the the HCL this year.

5. ▼(3) Agriholm Mustangs (10-7-2)
Not quite where they want to be, the Mustangs are in good position to get into that top four. Sigvard Jansson has been good, but he can be better. Expect him to rise to the cause in this second half, and maybe score over twenty goals. Albertsson's boys shouldn't be counted out of contention just yet.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON II REVIEW
Image

After a marvelous season, let's take a look at our final table.

Primary Division Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Academica 30 17 7 6 50 33 +17 58 Champions', Champions' Cup
2 Raskstad United 30 15 7 8 43 31 +12 52 Globe Cup
3 Varnskog Forest 30 15 6 9 37 27 +10 51 Globe Cup
4 Dunsvik Town 30 13 11 6 53 33 +20 50 Globe Cup

5 Union Petrovik 30 14 8 8 40 30 +10 50
6 Varmeon Islanders 30 15 5 10 46 39 +7 50
7 North Star Enberg 30 14 6 10 38 35 +3 48
8 Larquist Rovers 30 11 10 9 39 36 +3 43
9 Valholm United 30 11 9 10 41 39 +2 42
10 FC Agriholm Prairie 30 11 9 10 34 36 −2 42
11 Shipwrights 30 10 8 12 39 38 +1 38
12 FK Brokers 30 11 4 15 35 41 −6 37
13 FK Sorenholm 30 8 10 12 28 41 −13 34 Relegated
14 Forstader 30 7 6 17 33 55 −22 27 Relegated
15 Latin Athletic 30 4 10 16 24 39 −15 22 Relegated

Academica came through in triumphant fashion. Academica was an all-around powerhouse this season. Henrik Stevensson led with season in goal scoring with thirty one to his name. Robert Nyquist was spectacular with numerous clean sheets. All-in-all Zetterburg's boys were extremely dominant, and they will hopefully care this momentum forward to international competition.

Oskar Backlund's numbers game worked, to a point. United were extremely successful in their goals against department. Gustavsson and Eisberg with both superb with running the back four. The striker corps fell short. This is partially due to David Isaacsson's four-game injury halfway through the season. But the large issue was the troubles Raskstad had with their midfielders and ball possession. Backlund will have to come up with a new algorithm for that one, and look forward to taking on the Globe Cup once again.

The surprise of the season was definitely Varnskog Forest. Though it was expected that their youngster's would blossom in two to three seasons from now, they ended up bursting into stardom in this season. Daniel Vinter and Janne Eriksen are both junior team members who signed with Varnskog over the offseason. As these boys continue to mature, there is no doubt that they will be contenders for the title in the coming seasons.

Our last Globe Cup qualifier was Dunsvik Town. Town also finished fourth last go-around. This season's finish was thanks largely in part by their midfield. Once they had the ball, no one could take it away. They ran into trouble on their finishing abilities and they were susceptible to counter-attacks. It was a very productive season, the "Sandies" would agree. Emanuel Clausen and captain Jonathon Patriksson proved why they deserve to be national team midfielders. If they can use their advantage in the middle third of the park, they will be a formidable opponent during UICA play.

Sabermetric Revolution
Statistics are taking over Varish Sport.

It used to be something rogue youngsters would try. They would use their hip computer sciences degrees and try to make some magic algorithm that was supposed to change everything, whether it was baseball, hockey, or football. It was scoffed at and looked down upon. The common criticism was that sabermetrics fail to take in the psychological aspect of athletes. However, what sabermetrics was really missing out on was funding. Once funds came, sabermetrics really did change everything, and it will continue to make a massive impact.

Oskar Backlund didn't invent sabermetrics. He didn't even modify it to fit his own needs. But when he got done with a degree in Statistics from Raskstad University, he started using it, and it was working. His premise was simple. Look at young players, and instead of buying the best players, he focused on the best players for the least amount of money. He took valuation of every player, and divided the number of goals a youth player scored in his senior season of secondary school football by that valuation. He ended up with a goals per thousand dollars measurement. He bought the top ten of these. He ended up spending a hundred thousand dollars in total. In an interview for the Raskstad Review, he claimed that if he would have bought the players his scouts suggested, he would have spent the same amount of money for two players.

Backlund took these ten players, six were midfielders and four were strikers, and gave them equal amounts of playing time on the youth squad during the first half of the season. He let the bottom three goalscorers go, kept the middle four in the youth corps, and brought the top three up to the first squad. Basically, Backlund put these players through a survival of the fittest scenario. This based off the sabermetric notion that, regardless of initial value, a fraction of youth footballers will actually be worthy of playing premiership level football. If you have the top ten recruits in the country, only one to three will have successful careers. The same, supposedly, is true with the bottom ten recruits. No matter what, some players just are not going to make it, so it is not reasonable to spend big money on young players.

Raskstad United also employs the same principles with their first team. Instead of measuring goals per dollar amount, first team players are measured by goals per 90 minutes played. More often than not, all three substitutions are used on offensive players. Therefore, substitutes who come onto the pitch at 60' and score are theoretically going to score three goals a game. Thus, those substitutes should be in the starting eleven more often. That is exactly what Backlund does. The midfielders and strikers who have the most goals per 90 minutes are started, and there is constant rearranging among the players who are the most well off in this measure. The converse is used for the backs. Those who have the least goals against per 90 minutes start. Of course, this requires Backlund to constantly be changing his back four personnel from match to match, but after six or seven matchdays, the statistics begins to take shape, and the correct analysis can be made.

Raskstad, the city of technology, is a hot zone for the spread of sabermetrics. Sources confirm that Raskstad Lions head coach Frans Abrahamsen is working closely with Oskar Backlund to implement sabermetrics into hockey. Additionally, since Backlund is the national team manager, he is actively attempting to confince the Football Association of Vermark (FAV) to allow him to introduce sabermetrics to the national team. Though it is unlikely for the FAV to permit sabermetrics, it is likely the Backlund may leave Vermark for another national team who may be willing to experiment with this new model. Of course, these our nothing more than just rumors, but if they hold any credibility, they can substantially impact the international sporting world.

After Raskstad United's Primary Division runner-up finish, it will be interesting to see whether or not sabermetrics will stick around. There are still fourteen other teams who fared worse than Raskstad, so this last season was not necessarily a loss for the sabermetric movement. As we look towards the future, expect more and more logic and science to come in and replace superstition and tradition. And Vermark, inevitably, will be ground zero for this change.□

Pre-World Cup 71 Varish National Team Friendlies

Before entering Vermark's first World Cup qualifiers, the FAV has set in motion a Varish tour with some very big names. The tour will kick off after the Baptism of Fire, but before the beginning of qualifying for the seventy-first World Cup. Here are the upcoming fixtures:

Sunday March 15, 2015: Vermark (KPB: TBD) v. Quebec (KPB: 24.21) @ Nationale Stadion, Videnhagen, Vermark
Tuesday March 17, 2015: Flardania (KPB: TBD) v. Vermark (KPB: TBD) @ Ilias Garden, Kairaku, Flardania
Thursday Match 19, 2015: Vermark (KPB: TBD) v. Gloriax (KPB: 11.68) @ Omnium Place, Raskstad, Vermark
Friday March 20, 2015: Yttribia (KPB: 15.97) v. Vermark (KPB: TBD) @ Richard Plains Memorial Stadium, Orines, Yttribia
Saturday March 21, 2015: Vermark (KPB: TBD) v. Eastfield Lodge (KPB: 12.30) @ Arena Agriholm, Agriholm, Vermark

The tour will have three home matches and two abroad matches. It starts off in Videnhagen in what is sure to be a sell-out crowd as Vermark takes on the headliners of the tour, Quebec. This match-up is followed by a rematch between Flardania and Vermark. Vermark beat Flardania in the last match of the Baptism of Fire group stage in order to progress to the Round of Sixteen. This is sure to be a fiery match in which both teams may brew up a rivalry of sorts. Vermark will then come back to Raskstad to face off against Gloriax, a respected squad that will be very tough on the Vares. The Hounds then have a tight turn around as they head out Yttribia before finishing the tour in Agriholm against Eastfield Lodge. It will be interesting to see how the Varish National Team fares against experienced international competitors, but we will surely be entertained. Stay tuned to sportmark.vk in order to get more coverage on the pre-qualifying tour.

Vermark 1–1 Royal Kingdom of Quebec
Vermark opens Pre-Qualfying Friendlies with a surprise draw.

Venue: Nationale Stadion, Videnhagen, Vermark (Attendance: 74,520/76,500)
Referee: Mike Luke (Darmen)

Vermark Royal Kingdom of Quebec
'22 Conavacio (Zelaya, Kim)
56' {} Rasholm
81' Stevensson (Arnold, Isaacsson)

VIDENHAGEN--After a disappointing loss in the Baptism of Fire quarterfinals, the Varish Men's National Team got itself back in gear in a big way against the Quebecois. In a game that was slated to be a landslide of a match, Vermark shocked the footballing community by maintaining a close contest through the match. Possession was split 55-45 in favor of Quebec and Quebec had two more shots on goal than the Vares. Since the game was between the twenty-first best football team in the world, and an unranked squad of inexperienced footballers, the result could have been much worse for the Hounds.

The game commenced with Quebecois dominance. Within the first ten minutes, Quebec was given three set pieces-two corners and one free kick from forty yards-yet Vermark frisked them all away. One of the corners, at the nine minute mark, was met with a swift counter attack by the Vares that resulted in Erik Hjamar missing the finish just wide of the left goal post. However, for the most part, Quebec retained possession well and had a handful of decent chances. At twenty two minutes, Marcos Zelaya played an excellent through ball that connected with Leonardo Conavacio who finished clinically with a rocket to the top right corner. This stadium anticipated this goal to be the first of many for the Quebecois. However, this was not the case. From this goal until the end of the first half, Vermark played with incredible poise and dominance for such a tremendous opponent. First half stoppage time was concluded with David Isaacson hitting the crossbar on a free kick from thirty yards. The first half scoreline showed a Quebecois lead, but to anyone watching the game, it was clear the Vares were closely contending.

Some might claim the second half was controversial and Vermark benefited from some botched refereeing. This may have been true, but Vermark still played very well. The game was mostly quite until the fifty-sixth minute, when centre-back Fredrik Rasholm mistimed a tackle and was shown yellow for it. Just past sixty-two minutes, Marcos Zelaya had a wide open opportunity, however, he was ruled offside. The sixty-seventh minute brought about the most important moment of the match. Keith Arnold was brought on in exchange for Herbert Alfredsson. Arnold, with nine minutes left in the match, made an incredible step over move that allowed him to break free on the wing and execute a perfect cross that was met by the head of captain Henrik Stevensson. The nearly sold out crowd erupted as the Hounds celebrated the most unexpected goal. The frenzy, however, was yet to be finished. A Varish foul was committed right on the edge of the penalty area, and the Quebecois claimed that it was indeed a penalty kick. The Darmeni held strong, however, and Quebecois was given a free kick that would harmlessly sail into the bleachers.

Three minutes of added time was all that was prescribed, and as soon as the final whistle blew, the crowd once again burst into exuberance. After the match, Stevensson explained his goal, "Keith [Arnold] just hit me with a wonderful cross and I was able to finish it. The boys played extremely well, and this is a great precedent to set going into these last two friendlies and then qualifying." Vermark will venture to Flardania for their next pre-qualifying friendly. Flardania, despite losing to Vermark in the Baptism of Fire group stage, progressed into the semifinals of the competition, so they will likely be a formidable opponent once again. Vermark, shocked everyone by exiting early from the Baptism of Fire, but shocked everyone once again by this draw against Quebec. Only time well tell if this will give them the momentum needed to have a successful World Cup Qualifying campaign.

VISA MEN'S LACROSSE

Collegiate Lacrosse is the highest level of competition of Varish lacrosse, but be wary; these young guns are every bit as talented as foreign professionals. Lacrosse's popularity in Vermark stems from Lacrosse's similar attributes to both association football and hockey: The two biggest spectator sports in Vermark. Expect big name Universities like Videnhagen and Raskstad to rise to the top, but don't count out some of the smaller schools who feel they have something to prove.

Varish Hockey Premiership
Pre-Season 96 Power Rankings

Here we go again, it's time to take a look at the top hockey teams in Vermark as the top Varish hockey clubs prepare to return to the Hockey Champions' League and the Senior Men's team looks to continue its journey to World Cup triumph. Let's see how this season goes.

1. Petrovik Oilers

By far, the Oilers have the best team and the best coaching in the Premiership. After winning the Uvene Trophy for most valuable first-year player, Erik Lorensson takes the captaincy, and looks to dominate this season with superstars on every line. Petrovik has managed the perfect balance of old and young; finesse and strength; and talent and coaching. There is little doubt that the Oilers will either win the league, or come just shy of the title.

2. Metropolitan

Season 96 will likely to be the last hurrah for the old-guard known as "The Immortals". Nicklas Lange, Ake Wilhelmsen, Nicklas Eriksen, and Mats Hermansen will all likely experience their last season, and their last World Cup in this go-around. Metropolitan has a chance at winning the Premiership, however, they are unlikely to be as dominating as their Petrovik counterparts.

3. Raskstad Lions

The Lions may be the best-managed team in the league. They have no shortage of great prospects who could easily become VHP stars. Despite having a defensive crisis before last season, head coach Thor Hansson now has some of the best defensemen in Vermark. The only challenge will be finding enough cohesion to be effective and dominating.

4. Agriholm Mustangs

If an award went to the best head coach in the league, Frans Albertsson would definitely win it. In addition to supreme coaching, the 'stangs also have great depth of defensemen, such as Aron Olsen and Sigvard Jansson. However, Agriholm's weakness will come in the goal scoring department; they're forwards are aging and mediocre at best. Expect the defense to drive the team, but not into a very high position.

5. Varmeon Buccaneers

Under the new direction of Quebecois coach Alexandre Gallant, the Bucs will be a contender for international competition qualification. This team has a solid base of young players, such as center Arne Artursson and goalie Edmund Barnstag. This won't be a championship team during this season, but in the coming years, look out.

League News
  • The Premiership points system has been changed. Draws are now permitted, and yield one point to each team. Teams will now receive three points for a win.
  • After the tragic death of Premiership commissioner Gustaf Alfredsson, the first individual award will be given to the best all-around player. The award will be named the Alfredsson Trophy.
  • The Varish Hockey Premiership is seeking sponsorship for next season. Any potential sponsors may contact the Premiership via telegram to Vermark.

We've reached the halfway point and have been through quite a bit of action, let's look at the standings will half of the schedule remaining:

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts

5 Raskstad Lions 19 10 2 7 21 15 +6 32
6 Enberg Wolves 19 9 3 7 22 20 +2 30
7 Varmeon Buccaneers 19 8 6 5 28 22 +6 30
8 Sorenholm Raiders 19 8 3 8 23 23 +0 27
9 Olthrup Brewers 19 8 3 8 22 25 -3 27
10 Frutolind Hawks 19 6 5 8 15 23 -8 23

14 Varnskog Millers 19 5 6 8 14 30 -16 21
15 Komark Cowboys 19 6 2 11 17 28 -11 20

17 Jutland Giants 19 5 3 11 13 27 -14 18
18 Vinoburg Vikings 19 4 5 10 12 24 -12 17
19 Dunsvik Sandmen 19 4 5 10 12 25 -13 17
20 North End Nationals 19 2 8 9 11 25 -14 14

1. -- Metropolitan (17-1-1)
Metropolitan has been rolling. It does not look like anyone can catch them at this point. It looks like, despite aging, the Immortals, are well, immortal at the moment. Nicklas Lange, despite being injured in the first two weeks of the season, now leads the league in scoring, assists, and points. At 36 years of age, Lange shows no signs of slowing down, and niether does hiw wingman, Wilhelmsen, who is third in the Premiership in terms of assists. Also, the forwards can thank goalie Mats Hermansen for only yielding ten goals this season. It looks like Metropolitan is on their way to a second-straight Premiership title and lengthy run at the HCL championship.

2. ▲(2) Agriholm Mustangs (12-3-4)
Agriholm has been an extremely dominate team so far. They have really taken advantage of their defensive edge. There are very few adjustments that coach Frans Albertsson will have to make, thus, The Mustangs are pretty much set to get high up on the table.

3. ▼(2) Petrovik Oilers (12-5-2)
The Oilers, despite being second in the league, have really under-performed so far. Injuries have prevented Petrovik from getting its scoring machine running. Hopefully, Erik Lorensson will be able to maintain his healthiness over the course of the second half of the season in order to pursue first place. If they keep the status quo, however, the Oilers will have trouble remaining inside the top three.

4. ▲(UR) Rostesson Regents (12-3-4)
Rostesson has proved that it is more than just a one-hit wonder. With a dominating record, the Regents have made a huge splash in the Premiership once again. Their success can be owed to their third and fourth lines, who physically dominate the opposition. Rostesson should be a key team when it comes to the race for the HCL spots.

5. ▲(UR) Enberg Wolves (9-3-7)
Enberg has been a surprise, however, it is about time that Vermark's northernmost city became good at hockey. Enberg has been laying well holistically, but they are being led by the Dynamic Duo (Arne and Karl Harnesson) and all-star rookie goalie Petr Gallund. Enberg is another team that is in contention to make it to the HCL, however, they must mature and integrate with one another if they want to become a decisively dominate team.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON III PREVIEW
Image

Who will the third time be the charm for? Will Academica repeat? Will Raskstad United avenge themselves from last season? Let's take a look.

Top Teams:

1. Academica
Manager: Nicklas Zetterberg
Starting XI: Nyquist, Lenburg, Carlsson, Roland, ImageKartashkin, Sansvik, Oscarsson, Bornsquist, ImageJeon, Stevensson (c), ImageBlonquist

As if Academica was not big enough already, this club has grown rapidly over the past off-season. Besides renewing contracts with the two Polaaskans, Academica also purchased the Quebecois winger Alin Jeon. Money has also been flowing in from all over after Academica's success in the last UICA cycle. Academica has put a lot of money into youth development, training research, and new facilities. Academica has a lot of momentum coming off of this latest transfer season. Without a doubt, Academica will be a huge presence in the upcoming Varish Primary Division season.

2. Agriholm Prairie
Manager: ImageGareth Brunt
Starting XI: ImageMeallán, Larsson, Senstrom, Barnsteen, Vikholm, Hansburg, Nystrom, Janquist, ImageEverton, Tenner (c)

After Prairie was forced to sack its manager for the second season in a row, the front office decided to look abroad and hired Nepharan manager Gareth Brunt. Brunt's approach is very similar to Backlund's; both believe in investment in youth as well as carefully made transfers. Exercise of these careful transfers was made to bring youngsters from the Project +90 program of the Northern Sunrise Islands. This includes Eura keeper Michael Meallán and Northern Islander Fernanda Everton. Both of these players will be high quality additions to the squad who will bring success to Vermark's third biggest market. With new management and new faces, Agriholm will finally get the kind of footballing performance it deserves.

3. Raskstad United
Manager: Oskar Backlund
Starting XI: Sedin, Eisberg, Gustavsson (c), Hansen, Taller, Merin, Polskin, Jacobsen, Sanstov, Karls, Isaacson

The Saint of Statistics has dug into his philosophy more than ever following last season's disappointment. Oskar Backlund has gotten even more extreme when it comes to how he runs the club. He has ultimately banned incoming transfers and diverted funds from the transfer budget to youth development. His idea is that the transfer market is to overpriced, and it is more cost effective to simply raise better players. While this may pay off in the long term, the failure to bring in better players for this season will likely take its toll. Expect Raskstad to lose ground that was made up over the past two seasons, however, next season may be a different story.

4. Larquist Rovers
Manager: Jonathon Alfredsson
Starting XI: Eisberg, Preben, Olafs, Oxen-Hans, Andersvik, Sorensson (c), ImageWebb , Apollo, Danielsson, Talon, Andersson

The Rovers have been a strong team for the previous two seasons. However, Jonathon Alfredsson has not changed anything over the course of the past few months. This is definitely a risky gamble; the status quo has a tendency to get left behind by those who are constantly improving. However, this steadiness will create chemistry between players, which may prove to be an extremely valuable asset.

5. Shipwrights
Manager: Daniel Marburg
Roster: Nyquist, Benholm, Lunds, Morstrom, Eisberg, Clausen, ImagePoulsen, Kensson, Hanqvist, Johansson, Artursen

Shipwrights is another dominating club that will have a strong season coming up. Daniel Marburg is a leadership genius who runs his XI in a CEO-like fashion. He has also managed to make quite a few top signings, such as Emmanuel Clausen from Dunsvik Town and Jakob Poulsen from Eikberg Club (Semarland). The Shipwrights will have an extremely talented midfield, which will both produce goals and prevent opposing ones. The only question is, will Shipwrights be able to compete with the clubs who have been dominant in prior seasons.

Fringe Teams

6. Union Petrovik
7. Dunsvik Town
8. North Star Enberg
9. Varnskog Forest
10. Valholm United

Petrovik and Dunsvik are two teams that are going through a rebuilding process at the moment; after Union's Jonathon Patriksson retired and Town's Emanuel Clausen was sold, these two clubs will rely on younger players to get the job done. Following the re-builders is North Star Enberg, which is another club that has a promising future. However, despite having a solid base of young, talented players, manager Hans Jasberg is a bit lacking in the competence department, and he will ultimately be North Star's demise. Varnskog is coming off of a great season, however, they did not quite make the necessary steps to solidify their place; expect Forest to falter this season, but they may rise in the future. Valholm, however, will continue its downward trend. A weak Board of Directors is leaving United with less and less promise after every season, before too long, Valholm will be in the Secondary Division, however, it won't be this season, as they should take a tenth place finish.

Struggling Teams

11. Lidstrom West End
12. FK Brokers
13. Varmeon Islanders
14. AFC Remingsson
15. Outfitters SK
16. Malerisk Park Rangers

In the Varish Primary Division, below tenth place generally earns your club the adjective of "rubbish". Regardless, there are some prospective super-clubs in the mix at the bottom of the table. Lidstrom West End has done a fantastic job of transitioning itself on a structural basis to be competitive in the Primary Division. They will hope to end up like FK Brokers, who were promoted for last season and managed to stay afloat. Next, we have the Varmeon Islanders, who will be close to relegation this season, if not relegated. After facing some financial issues, Islanders look like they are destined for bankruptcy: a ticket to the Secondary Division. The teams that are most likely to relegate, however, include the three promotees, Malerisk, Outitters, and Remingsson, who won't be able to keep up with the tight competition this season.

That wraps-up our preseason coverage. Stay tuned to keep up-to-date with every club, every match, and every goal.

The Cardinals went out to an early lead in the first period, and then doubled it on the power play during the second. However, the Seahawks never gave up; they reduced the deficit to a single goal after six minutes of the third period. They put up a strong effort during the final five minutes, yet, the Cardinals scored an empty-netter and sealed the deal.

Academica against Outfitters was definitely the shocker of the week; Outfitters was awarded a stoppage time penalty kick after a questionable foul by Carlsson. Meanwhile, Agriholm Prairie was upset by Lidstrom West End which hints that Prairie has another difficult season ahead of them. More decisive wins came from Raskstad and Shipwrights who defeated FK Brokers and Valholm United by two goals respectively. It was a wonderful first matchday, but will the action continue?

MATCHDAY 2
Outfitters SK 1–2 Varmeon Islanders
North Star Enberg 1–2 Dunsvik Town
Valholm United 1–0 Larquist Rovers
Malerisk Park Rangers 2–1 Shipwrights
AFC Remingsson 0–2 Union Petrovik
Lidstrom West End 2–2 Varnskog Forest
FK Brokers 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Academica 0–2 Raskstad United

The match between Academica and Raskstad is always a big deal; however, this installment of the rivalry was not a close contest at all. While Academica will be mourning and scrambling to finally get in shape for this season, United fans will cherish this fixture for years to come because star David Isaacson produced a memorable brace and showed that he is truly a decisive figure in this league. In other news, Union Petrovik has had a decent start by winning both of the first two matches; their younger players have really capitalised on playing teams who have been ill-prepared for the start of this season. Dunsvik is another young team that has experienced early success; the Sandmen have, like Union, won both of the first two matches.

MATCHDAY 3
Raskstad United 1–2 Outfitters SK
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–3 Academica
Varnskog Forest 1–1 FK Brokers
Union Petrovik 0–0 Lidstrom West End
Shipwrights 4–1 AFC Remingsson
Larquist Rovers 2–2 Malerisk Park Rangers
Dunsvik Town 2–0 Valholm United
Varmeon Islanders 1–2 North Star Enberg

Outfitters have continued their streak of upsets by beating Raskstad United by one goal in a similarly controversial fashion in comparison to their season kickoff against Academica. This time, striker Thomas Manstrom scored in injury time, however, video evidence displays that he may have been off-side. Regardless, Outfitters are promotees in the top half of the table, which is a very impressive feat. Academica finally received their first victory of the season, however, it came at the expense of Agriholm, a side that is once again having a rough season despite making many positive adjustments over the offseason. Dunsvik has become the only team to have won every game after Petrovik drew against Lidstrom West End. And finally, Shipwrights have asserted their superiority by netting four goals against the promoted AFC Remingsson.

MATCHDAY 4
Outfitters SK 0–2 North Star Enberg
Valholm United 2–1 Varmeon Islanders
Malerisk Park Rangers 2–1 Dunsvik Town
AFC Remingsson 0–0 Larquist Rovers
Lidstrom West End 2–1 Shipwrights
FK Brokers 2–1 Union Petrovik
Academica 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Raskstad United 4–0 FC Agriholm Prairie

Some trends remained, while others changed in the fourth day of competition. While Dunsvik lost its first match at the hands of MPR, Prairie continued their struggling campaign after being trounced by Raskstad, who took over the top position on the table. Meanwhile, Academica's win from matchday three was unable to generate any momentum; the Nerds drew against the Millers who are a marginal club at best. Lidstrom West End remains as the top headline of the season; after four matches in the top flight, West End is situated in fourth place and has gained the respect of all fifteen Primary Division squads.

MATCHDAY 5
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–1 Outfitters SK
Varnskog Forest 0–1 Raskstad United
Union Petrovik 2–3 Academica
Shipwrights 0–0 FK Brokers
Larquist Rovers 0–0 Lidstrom West End
Dunsvik Town 2–1 AFC Remingsson
Varmeon Islanders 3–1 Malerisk Park Rangers
North Star Enberg 1–0 Valholm United

Today was as exciting as the last four games combined. There was countless matches that were only won by a single goal. Outfitters, for example, became triumphant after Thomas Manstrom found the twine on a twenty eight yard free kick; Manstrom, only twenty years of age, is on pace to be the youngster of the year in the primary division. Academica also took home a narrow victory in Petrovik after Henrik Stevenson finally tallied his first goal of the season. Raskstad, Dunsvik, and North Star all were victorious this week; they make up the top three of the table in that order.

MATCHDAY 6
Outfitters SK 1–0 Valholm United
Malerisk Park Rangers 2–2 North Star Enberg
AFC Remingsson 0–0 Varmeon Islanders
Lidstrom West End 3–1 Dunsvik Town
FK Brokers 3–1 Larquist Rovers
Academica 1–1 Shipwrights
Raskstad United 4–0 Union Petrovik
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–1 Varnskog Forest

In the news this week was Academica earning a tough one point against Shipwrights; Academica is in sixth place and is finally with in reach of the top teams. However, Agriholm has not been able to reverse their misfortune as they lose once again, this time against Varnskog. Nepharan gaffer Gareth Brunt will have to improve his eleven's performance in the coming weeks if he wants to retain his position. Raskstad, after last week's slight victory over Forest, returned to their offensive selves; they put the ball in the goal four times against Union Petrovik.

MATCHDAY 7
Varnskog Forest 3–0 Outfitters SK
Union Petrovik 1–3 FC Agriholm Prairie
Shipwrights 2–0 Raskstad United
Larquist Rovers 2–1 Academica
Dunsvik Town 2–1 FK Brokers
Varmeon Islanders 2–0 Lidstrom West End
North Star Enberg 2–1 AFC Remingsson
Valholm United 1–0 Malerisk Park Rangers

Matchday Eight was all about change. For example, North Star took the lead from Raskstad after winning against Remingsson while Shipwrights managed to shut down the Raskstad strikers. Agriholm also experienced some change; they won their first match of the season against a formidable opponent, Union Petrovik. It looks like the season still has lots more to offer after seven matches.

MATCHDAY 8
Outfitters SK 2–2 Malerisk Park Rangers
AFC Remingsson 1–1 Valholm United
Lidstrom West End 0–2 North Star Enberg
FK Brokers 0–0 Varmeon Islanders
Academica 3–2 Dunsvik Town
Raskstad United 2–1 Larquist Rovers
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–0 Shipwrights
Varnskog Forest 3–0 Union Petrovik

Agriholm, Academica, and Raskstad all recorded victories today. Prairie was able to blank Shipwrights, Academica edged out Dunsvik, while Raskstad beat Larquist by a single goal. However, North Star two goal win over Lidstrom enabled Enberg to retain its position at the top of the table. The sensation of the promoted clubs seems to have faded; the highest promoted club is Lidstrom West End in sixth.

MATCHDAY 9
Union Petrovik 1–2 Outfitters SK
Shipwrights 4–0 Varnskog Forest
Larquist Rovers 3–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Dunsvik Town 1–1 Raskstad United
Varmeon Islanders 1–0 Academica
North Star Enberg 1–2 FK Brokers
Valholm United 1–1 Lidstrom West End
Malerisk Park Rangers 5–2 AFC Remingsson

Right when the season begins to fall into place, something happens to shake it all up once again. Prairie and Academica both lost, Raskstad drew against Dunsvik. However, due to Enberg's loss against Brokers, Raskstad will take first place on the table. Regardless, teams like Enberg and Shipwrights appear to be strong, while Academica and Prairie, originally estimated to be in the top five, are currently faltering. Let's see if the final day of the first third will change anything to right the course of these squads.

MATCHDAY 10
Outfitters SK 2–1 AFC Remingsson
Lidstrom West End 1–2 Malerisk Park Rangers
FK Brokers 1–1 Valholm United
Academica 2–2 North Star Enberg
Raskstad United 2–2 Varmeon Islanders
FC Agriholm Prairie 1–1 Dunsvik Town
Varnskog Forest 2–0 Larquist Rovers
Union Petrovik 3–3 Shipwrights

The tenth matchday was moderately exciting. Prairie and Academica both made steps in the right direction by gaining a point for their cause. Likewise, Raskstad and North Star also tied in their respective fixtures, so the top of the table looks familiar. However, interesting scenarios are transpiring at the bottom. The danger zone currently consists of Larquist, Argiholm, and Remingsson. Of course, Larquist and Agriholm are both huge surprises; the Sportmark Season Preview predicted these sides to finish in fourth and second respectively; at the current moment; neither of these teams are even close to living up to their expectations.

VARISH FOOTBALL SEASON III PART II
Image

MATCHDAY 11
Shipwrights 2–1 Outfitters SK
Larquist Rovers 1–1 Union Petrovik
Dunsvik Town 2–0 Varnskog Forest
Varmeon Islanders 1–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
North Star Enberg 1–1 Raskstad United
Valholm United 1–0 Academica
Malerisk Park Rangers 1–2 FK Brokers
AFC Remingsson 0–1 Lidstrom West End

Another matchday brings another episode of drama. Academica fails to get a hold of themselves as they fall to Valholm by one goal. Prairie looks to turn their campaign around after beating Varmeon in the midst of extra time craziness. However, the most important match was North Star against Raskstad, which had the power to determine the top team in the league. It was a thrilling fixture, but it ended with a one-one draw.

MATCHDAY 12
Outfitters SK 1–4 Lidstrom West End
FK Brokers 0–3 AFC Remingsson
Academica 1–3 Malerisk Park Rangers
Raskstad United 1–0 Valholm United
FC Agriholm Prairie 3–1 North Star Enberg
Varnskog Forest 3–1 Varmeon Islanders
Union Petrovik 0–0 Dunsvik Town
Shipwrights 2–3 Larquist Rovers

No one saw it coming, but the mmiserable Agriholm Prairie are now above the mighty Academica Football Club. In addition, Raskstad United have pulled even further away from North Star by beating Valholm at Omnium Place. In other news, a contenious battle is underway for second. A three-way tie exists between Varnskog, Enberg, and Dunsvik. West End, Shipwrights, and Malerisk all do not trail too far behind.

MATCHDAY 13
Larquist Rovers 2–1 Outfitters SK
Dunsvik Town 3–1 Shipwrights
Varmeon Islanders 1–1 Union Petrovik
North Star Enberg 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Valholm United 0–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
Malerisk Park Rangers 0–2 Raskstad United
AFC Remingsson 1–3 Academica
Lidstrom West End 1–0 FK Brokers

Finally, some light has come to the Academica fiasco after they beat Remingsson by a couple of goals. Raskstad and Agriholm also recorded victories. As we near the halfway point it appears that Raskstad is the side to beat this while other favorites, mainly Academica and Prairie, are having a hard time living up to expectations.

MATCHDAY 14
Outfitters SK 5–2 FK Brokers
Academica 3–0 Lidstrom West End
Raskstad United 2–2 AFC Remingsson
FC Agriholm Prairie 3–0 Malerisk Park Rangers
Varnskog Forest 4–4 Valholm United
Union Petrovik 0–1 North Star Enberg
Shipwrights 2–2 Varmeon Islanders
Larquist Rovers 1–3 Dunsvik Town

After a strong winning streak, Agriholm Prairie is now sixth in the league, and the Nepharan Gareth Brunt will live to see another day. Academica has also been in good form; they are now ninth. Also, Dunsvik's win and Raskstad's draw allows the first to second gap to become somewhat smaller. Not even halfway, and we all know that the finale to this season will be extremely memorable.

MATCHDAY 15
Dunsvik Town 2–5 Outfitters SK
Varmeon Islanders 1–0 Larquist Rovers
North Star Enberg 2–1 Shipwrights
Valholm United 0–0 Union Petrovik
Malerisk Park Rangers 0–1 Varnskog Forest
AFC Remingsson 1–3 FC Agriholm Prairie
Lidstrom West End 1–1 Raskstad United
FK Brokers 1–0 Academica

The most impressive team at this moment is Agriholm Prairie. After starting at the very bottom of the league, the Farmboys have won five straight and are only three points from Globe Cup qualification. However, Academica's revival has hit a bit of a bump after narrowly losing to FK Brokers. Raskstad has also endured a hiccup after drawing for their second straight game. North Star;s win against Union Petrovik allows the space between first and second to be reduced to a single part. After only half a season, it seems that we are in for one heck of a treat.

MATCHDAY 16
Outfitters SK 1–1 Academica
FK Brokers 1–0 Raskstad United
Lidstrom West End 1–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
AFC Remingsson 0–1 Varnskog Forest
Malerisk Park Rangers 3–1 Union Petrovik
Valholm United 1–0 Shipwrights
North Star Enberg 1–1 Larquist Rovers
Varmeon Islanders 4–2 Dunsvik Town

One the first day of the second half, it is important to note how tight the competition is right now. Valholm United, in twelfth, and Raskstad United, in first, are only separated by nine points. Raskstad appears to be going through a mid-season crisis, after losing to FK Brokers. That loss has facilitated a three-way gridlock for first place; Raskstad, Varnskog, and North Star are all sitting at twenty nine points each.

MATCHDAY 17
Varmeon Islanders 2–1 Outfitters SK
Dunsvik Town 0–0 North Star Enberg
Larquist Rovers 0–3 Valholm United
Shipwrights 0–0 Malerisk Park Rangers
Union Petrovik 3–1 AFC Remingsson
Varnskog Forest 2–1 Lidstrom West End
FC Agriholm Prairie 2–0 FK Brokers
Raskstad United 1–0 Academica

Raskstad takes the second leg of the Academica-Raskstad rivalry, which will put the Scholars at only three points above relegation. Meanwhile, Agriholm officially enters the top four after David Isaacson destroyed Brokers with a Brace. It looks like there may be no recovery for Academica, but can Agriholm challenge Raskstad for the title?

MATCHDAY 18
Outfitters SK 1–1 Raskstad United
Academica 1–1 FC Agriholm Prairie
FK Brokers 1–1 Varnskog Forest
Lidstrom West End 2–3 Union Petrovik
AFC Remingsson 1–1 Shipwrights
Malerisk Park Rangers 2–1 Larquist Rovers
Valholm United 1–0 Dunsvik Town
North Star Enberg 2–1 Varmeon Islanders

Academic has regained some momentum after drawing against Agriholm; rumor has it that Academica needs to be tenth place by matchday twenty in order for manager Nicklas Zetterberg to retain his position. Also, the three-way tie for first returns after Raskstad draws and North Star wins. It remains to be a very close competition so far.

MATCHDAY 19
North Star Enberg 3–0 Outfitters SK
Varmeon Islanders 2–0 Valholm United
Dunsvik Town 2–0 Malerisk Park Rangers
Larquist Rovers 0–1 AFC Remingsson
Shipwrights 2–0 Lidstrom West End
Union Petrovik 0–2 FK Brokers
Varnskog Forest 3–2 Academica
FC Agriholm Prairie 0–1 Raskstad United

After Raskstad, North Star, and Dunsvik all earn decisive victories, the three-way deadlock remains. However, Prairie's loss at the hand of Raskstad will push them out of the top four. Meanwhile, Academica loses once again. This time, a red card from Henrik Stevensson is to blame. The Scholars will have to make some major adjustments if they want to finish this season in the top half of the league.

MATCHDAY 20
Outfitters SK 0–2 FC Agriholm Prairie
Raskstad United 3–1 Varnskog Forest
Academica 0–2 Union Petrovik
FK Brokers 2–3 Shipwrights
Lidstrom West End 2–2 Larquist Rovers
AFC Remingsson 0–3 Dunsvik Town
Malerisk Park Rangers 2–6 Varmeon Islanders
Valholm United 2–0 North Star Enberg

Heartbreak continues for Academica after they get trounced by Union Petrovik and become even closer to relegation. This organization has a lot of questions to answer, and it will be interesting to see whether or not the rumors are true. There is no question that Zetterberg's job is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Raskstad, Agriholm, Dunsvik, all had big wins, while North Star fell to Valholm. The final highlight of the week was the fireworks in the mountains that occurred as Varmeon scored six goals against Rangers.
