Just to clarify, "eliminated zone" doesn't mean that you've been eliminated for sure this tournament, it just means that if the group stage ended today, you'd be eliminated.

I don't think the quarterfinals have ever been this evenly matched. The difference is less than one point in two of the ties and less than two in another.

Then there's Audioslavia-Electrum, which is perhaps not quite as close.

First, it's customary to ask this before spamming the World Cup 75 Sign-up thread with your roster post. That's currently in its final playoff stages and a winner for the entire tournament will be named shortly.

Second, signups for the next edition of the World Cup usually open shortly after the first host bid is posted by a party eligible to host the event. Look for a thread titled "World Cup 76 Sign-Ups" or something similar. It will probably be several weeks until those signups open.

In the meantime, smaller tournaments pop up every so often. There's always a possibility one could spring up.

That's not what the schedule says though. It says R1 is A1 vs. B2, R2 is B1 vs. A2 and the winners play in Q1. So I was confused.

Yes, that's why I was confused. I can't recall it ever being done that way before.

Controversially, I'd suggest that the fact that Red Blackiland has stated directly that the format is (A1 vs. B2) facing (B1 vs. A2) several times, also saying that it's in the opening post, indicates that that is, in fact, going to be the format.

Anyway, if you want precedent, BoF51 off the top of my head.

From what I gather, the format of the CoH enables two group-stage opponents to play one another again in the quarter-finals. A few NS tournaments have used this format in the past. Therefore, it's a conventional format.

Normally, two group-stage opponents would be kept apart until the semi-final or the final. A lot of NS tournaments have used this format. It's a conventional format too.

Another convention is that the WCDT is not to be used to argue semantics about the word 'convention' and it's use, so I suppose this is where we draw the line under this discussion.

Just to confirm what's in the Scores thread, due to Audio's heavy load this week I'm scorinating the rest of the tournament.

Semi-finals will be scorinated Tuesday, the TPPO on Wednesday, and the final on Thursday.

Cutoff for all will be 2300 UTC approx - around 7pm EDT, midnight UK.
