In case it goes unnoticed, I'm re-writing and updating the (unofficial) history of the World Cup that I used to have on NSwiki before it all went to crap and ended up being essentially wiped. Ideally it'll be better than it was before, but at least it'll be somewhere that people can actually read it and, hopefully, draw some knowledge/inspiration from it.

Oh, that's awesome. I remember how mind-blowing finding out how the WC was some years ago was. You've got someone interested here.

Great idea, Star! Having all the treasures of ancient World Cup history compiled here on the forum is definitely a good thing :)

It's nice to be reminded of the tradition we're a part of every time we participate in a World Cup, win or lose. Makes me want to make my mark on it, somehow. I'm looking forward to reading the rest, as it comes.

Good thing you mention that, because there's another tradition I brought up this season again. :p

I concede my bias, but surely any history of the first 11 World Cups that completely fails to mention the WC 2 hosts - who also just happen to be the founders of the original WCC [now transmuted into the EWCC] and the only WC 1 participants still active in the tournament - or their most famous player (now a wildly successful four-time World Cup winning manager) seems somehow.... incomplete.

The WCC Founding thing I was completely unaware of, and will make sure to edit that in, along with suitable early info on AIF.

It's searchable, too!

So most people who used the old NSWiki should be able to find any data they posted on the wiki - anything posted before September 2013 should still be retrievable in some form.

My success rate for pages I'm searching for, and links I'm trying to access, is about one in four or five that are actually there. Fingers crossed others have better stats.

The searching isn't always intuitive - it took me at least three attempts to find the Holy Empire's entry.

But I think most of the content is there, even if it isn't always obvious where it's hiding.

Best thing to do is go to list of all captured pages and start entering the titles in the 'Filter results (i.e. '.txt'):' box: it updates in real time as you type.
