Free Republics wrote: Regional Qualifying: What is actually done in RL, but not practical in NS because A) regions are fluid (you can move to any region you want, whenever you want, unless it is passworded and you don't know the password), B) 3 sports regions contain most of the top teams and C) the difficulty of figuring out how many teams qualify from which regions. In addition, it might be boring for some since we face our regional rivals in regular regional tournaments.

I like this idea a lot, so I've come up with a format.

The qualifying is split into four regions (Rushmore, Esportiva, Atlantian Oceania, and Other), with all nations being set in a region at a predetermined date. Then, the number of teams coming out of each region is based off of the following formula:

[(The number of teams in the world divided by their collective KPB ranking) divided by (the number of teams in the region divided by their collective KPB ranking)] times 32. Or
32[(T/K)/(t/k)] with 32 being the number of teams in the World Cup, t being the number of teams in a region, k being the collective KPB ranking of a region, T being the number of teams in the world, and K being the collective KPB ranking of everybody.

It would be very difficult for the hosts to do all that math, but it could work.

Edit: This formula is useless, but I still like the idea.

As Free Republics said, this won't work never, because you can change your region whenever you want, and it's not feasible too.

There's more results like that...

Corralejo 1–1 Pay d'en Haut (Corralejo ranked #279; Pays d'en Haut #88)
Greater Watford 2–2 Prusy krolewskie ( #54 vs #257)

yesterday
Prusy krolewskie 1–1 Nova Anglicana (#257 vs #39)

I'm pretty much happy with what this nation is doing but my other nation (Pays d'en Haut) keeps having a bad luck.

RE NSWCQ

Postby 95X » Tue Jul 07, 2015 10:55 pm

OK, let's be honest: there was another qualifying method suggested from a longtime NSWC abstainer.

This method is as follows:
  • Signups open to 240 nations. Nations sorted by rank; unranked nations get a (pseudo)random number that will be used as their rank.
  • MD1: 240 nations play single-elimination game (#1 plays #240; etc.). 120 winners advance.
  • MD2: 120 nations play single-elimination game (highest-remaining plays lowest-remaining; etc.). 60 winners advance.
  • MD3: 60 nations play single-elimination game (highest-remaining plays lowest-remaining; etc.). 30 winners advance to NSWC.
This suggestion efficiently reduces the strains and griping involved in qualifying to 3 days. Thank you for your time.

We also managed to draw 1-1 away to a nation ranked #326 yesterday. The way this group is going, I'm probably going to draw all the easy games, and then away at home against the group leaders beat them 5-1.

But he was wrong. It was he who was the traitor, he the dictator, he the true tyrant. I returned to above the waves and presented the location of the merpeople's treasure to the dictator of Stvoto Latoli, who greedily took the coordinates without thanking me. As I leapt atop my broom, I could already hear the wailing of the merpeople from the depths; their last shred of dignity, the last remnant of their kingdom, their last symbol of hope; raped by the tyrannical humans.

More of a black pudding. Meanwhile in Group 11, we have 87.5% roster penetration already.

PS. Speaking as a former host, for the love of Margaret please don't put "RP to come" tags in the RP thread.

I'm not 100% sure, but at least in my mind that would make the randomness skyrocket tremendously.

I must admit at first after reading your post I geniunely thought this could be a good idea. But just now I realize this would destroy the KPB rankings as we know them.

EDIT: Yes, I know you were not taking it seriously.

Gentlemen and gentlelasses,

I've got cheerful and unfortunate news at once. I've found a new - better - job! Which is a reason for hurrah galore, but unfortunately also means that I'll have to limit my NS activity. In a way that 'limit' will be 'zero' for now. I'll be back or I'll be around, but I'm not sure whether it will be as Buyan, as Some Village, as Vigorato, as Rapoxha (my sincerest apologies Audio, I hope you can get someone else behind the wheel!) or as something else. I'm sure I'll return as I've got plenty of stories left to tell.

Why am I cluttering this magnificent thread with this news? I could have gone for the IDSN Discussion thread to note that all your players in my nation are now free agents - I don't want them stuck to a league that's not acting. If it's more handy for you to say they continued to play here, that's fine by me as well. Whoever owns Buyanese players, you're free to roll as well. I'm sure you'll find something fun for them.

For the remainder of the WC, I hope I don't destroy the qualification chances of Cosumar, Eastfield or Holy Republican - but knowing Maggie, I'll waltz to the quarterfinals. It seemed logical in my mind that Buyan will henceforth play with an XI of 'foreign' Buyanese, which means the line-up should be something along the lines of: Marciak - Dobrovolskas, Justs, Grobanov, Zemaitis - Devold, Plovnarov, Castell, Knutsen - Moen, Balnerii.

Thanks all for the fun we've had so far and I'm looking forward to our future adventures.

Shit, did I just write one of those crappy goodbye posts? I'm really going downhill.
