Fixed.

(For transparency, this is the Archregimancy; I thought it would look less intrusive if the sign-up thread OP was edited by the NSWC account [which I have access to as a past WCC president] rather than by a mod)
The poster of this message is probably Ko-oren or Banija as NSWC Signups is owned and operated by the World Cup Committee, bringing you the finest quality in sign-up threads for NationStates' premier football tournament since 2005.

I had an idea. Do you suppose that there should be a competition entitled "Best Kit in World Cup"?

That sounds very subjective, but I guess if a World Cup host in the future decided to 'select' the best kit of the World Cup, he/she could add it as a fun bonus to his/her usual hosting duties, like many hosts have done with many other things.

I definitely wouldn't agree with it being a separate competition, though.

Yeah, I'm actually starting to like this idea. With all the different local kitmakers involved, it could get interesting! Bragging rights for the winning storefront.

As the maker of my own national kit (which somewhat intentionally looks amateur-made right now) I think this is a great idea.

Where are we in the cycle right now?

I fell off the face of the earth recently, and now have access to a Macbook and this website consistently, so I'm hoping I didn't miss things by too much.

Seeing that we are arriving to the end of BoF and WC is near the corner, I wonder what will happen with hosting, considering that EQS is probably busy and without chance to co-host the tournament, my question to Valanora is that there's a back-up potential host or something to do in case that EQS doesn't appears?

I want to clarify that there's no intention to do pressing, just wondering about this, considering on how the DBC has been going and also that the WC is near.

In the event that EQS is unable to fulfill their duties as cohost, I will look for an emergency replacement cohost as the first priority. In the unlikely event that an acceptable or eligible cohost is not able to be found, I would consider solo hosting the tournament just to keep the tournament moving. That is not the ideal scenario though due to the workload and obvious problems with a solo host, however it is something I will consider. My hope though is that EQS is able to fulfill their duties as cohost and this speculation becomes moot.

As some of you may have heard through Facebook, I recently accepted a job offer out of state, and will be spending the next couple of weeks apartment hunting and moving in, so my internet access will be limited. Once I find a place and move in, I should have internet, but possibly not immediately depending on the place. They may have to install it first, and that could take a couple of days or longer. I will still be able to access the 3G on my phone during that time, but I don't like posting on the forums with that if I don't have to.

In any case, I am leaving for my aunt's 90th birthday party in a few hours and will head from there straight to Maryland/Virginia to look for apartments tomorrow. I should be back late tomorrow night and able to access the forums again on Tuesday, but things are going to be a bit hectic the next couple of weeks. Needless to say, even if Valanora asked, I would not be able to serve as her emergency co-host.

I also wish to congratulate Panem, as they had the better kits (this has nothing to do with the fact that Emporer Pudu beat me in the Round of 16 after a last-minute Tselaminga own goal).

There may be some delay on this issue as one of the hosts (Equestrian States) is currently unresponsive. Valanora will, I'm sure, make an announcement as to what is happening with the World Cup in general, and the later entries in particular, in the next few days or so; until then, sadly, there is nothing we can do but be patient and make life as unstressful for Valanora as we can.

As it currently stands, the provisional signups will unfortunately be missing this edition, unless numbers are made to suit a format before such a time as the draw is conducted. With thanks to Saintland for updating the ranks, I'll be getting the pots ready and be going through my possible back up cohosts with Equestrian States currently unable to perform their duties as cohost. Once that decision has been made, we will proceed with the draw and get the tournament started as soon as possible.

I've spoken with a chosen backup cohost and they will be taking over the hosting duties for Equestrian States until such a time as EQS returns. Their nation will be participating in the qualifiers as planned and shall be scorinating the first half of the qualifiers. As such, the roster thread will go up tonight and the RP thread + draw should go up no later than Thursday night. MD1 will be on Monday, as to avoid clashing with the American Independence Day celebration. That is all, thank you for your patience.
