The Kolbenz Times

Dire Wolves travel to The Sarian for the Baptism of Fire

Kolbenz International Airport, Kolbenz, Wolfbenz- The 23 men of the Wolfbenz International football team left for The Sarian a few hours ago to the city of Roade, Isle Saria, where they will be facing Somstratzka in their first match. Those of us at the office made predictions of who would be key players to attain victory.

Ruslan Salic, GK- Standing at six feet three inches, Ruslan Salic is the main goalkeeper for the Dire Wolves and Aalso Klub, which he led to win the Wolfbenz 1. Liga two seasons ago. Salic is described as a wall in goal by most who attempt to take a shot at him, and makes very few mistakes. He is the best potato peeler on the team.

Mirko Reutens, LB- Hailing from the city of Ferris, Reutens started out playing for local clubs and school teams, and then was recruited by Ferris FC. After Ferris FC was relegated from the 1. Liga, he signed with nearby Sporting Eris. He's quite a good asset to the team, and proved himself worthy of a starting position in the national team. He's a good wing-back, and can has the potential to nab quite a few assists. The most sensitive person on the team.

Arseniy Konstantinov, CDM- Born to a working class family in Niam, Konstantinov is considered to be one of the best players on the team. Konstantinov has very high energy and stamina, and is the one on the team that sweats the least. We've heard he is the worst at karaoke on the team though, with nearly everyone on the team saying he sounds like a dying llama.

Espen Pavlov and Tihomir Freud, FWDs- The duo plays quite well together, in spite of them being on opposing sides during the season, with Pavlov playing for Sporting Eris and Freud playing for Wolitz Bay. Freud plays a target man role in the game, while Pavlov is more of a finisher or poacher, relying on passes to get to him to score. Both are adept in beating the offside trap. Espen Pavlov is the most likely to be called the most charming guy on the field. Tihomir Freud is the most likely to get calls from telemarketers.

STAFF
Manager: Shane Starks
Born in 1974, Starks started playing football at the age of 11 in an amateur youth league located in Shaw, Pine Island. Local talents were impressed with the young talent, and signed him to the junior club of Shaw United just four years later. Success continued and at the age of 22, Shane was the starting CB for Pine Islands' most successful club - Newport Lions FC. In his 13 years playing for the Lions, he scored 31 goals, assisted 18 times, and received 16 cards, only two of those were red. He was crowned captain for 5 seasons in a row, 7 seasons totaled. His leadership abilities shone through a win or loss. These abilities led him to manager of Pine Islands' National Team just two years after his retirement from professional football.

Assistant Manager: Louis Porter
Porter has previously managed three professional clubs in Pine Island - Rutherford Rangers, Shaw United, and the Kempsford Kings. He is well known for his tactic capabilities, mainly using attacking methods - 4-3-3, 3-4-3, or unarguably his favorite, the 2-5-3.

Goalkeeper Coach: Will Curtis
Age: 43
Previously Played For: FC Dawson
Trains Mainly: Diving, Kicking, and Reflexes

Defense Coach: Zachary Fox
Age: 50
Previously Played For: Bellmont City
Trains Mainly: Tackling, Heading, and Speed

Midfield Coach: Luke Palmer
Age: 42
Previously Played For: Miverna FC, Newport Lions FC, Bellmont City
Trains Mainly: Passing, Crossing, Speed

Striker Coach: Jim Dale
Age: 55
Previously Played For: Kempsford Kings, Fairview Falcons
Trains Mainly: Shooting, Heading, Speed

STARTING XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Game Tempo: Energetic
Defense: Combined
Midfield: Balanced
Game Tempo: Hurry Up
Aggressiveness: High

#1) - Goalkeeper - Kevin Saunders - Newport Lions FC - 32 Y/O
Kevin is coming off a wonderful season in League 1 of Pine Island. He has conceded only 10 goals in 32 games for the Lions, fewest in the league. Talents are many for this player, reflexes are excellent, and diving is divine according to the GK coach, Will Curtis. Off the field, Saunders is known as a quiet, and humble guy with good leadership qualities.

#6) - Left Back - Bradley Pierce - FC Talahita - 21 Y/O
Bradley Pierce is known to many as a fearless, and hard working athlete. Bradley started making headlines at the age of 14, when he scored 6 goals in one match for the junior club of Fairview. His then coach Mark Wellbeck didn't see scoring in the young talent however, he saw something completely different - Defending. Since that day, Pierce has never played any position outside of defense for any form of team,

#9) - Center Back - George Faulkner - Rutherford Rangers - 24 Y/O
George Faulkner is a tough guy to match up one on one with. He has height, speed, and heading - three important features needed for football. He was cut from numerous teams due to his inconsistency, but made a positive image for himself at National Team tryouts. Faulkner has replaced CB Lance Goodson due to a hamstring injury he suffered in a friendly vs Semarland.

#5) - Center Back - John Farley - Kempsford Kings - 22 Y/O
John Farley played in numerous amateur youth leagues around Northern Pine Island as a teenager, but really made a name for himself in high school. He made his schools' varsity team, and started every single game for them. When he graduated high school, he received many calls from minor clubs around Pine Island but the one call that he was anticipating had finally arrived - the National Team. Ever since that call Farley has started in every game for Pine Island.

#2) - Right Back - Malcom Banks - Allentown Athletic - 28 Y/O
Malcom Banks is another lock down defender for Pine Island, who loves using his speed to wear down opponents. He mainly plays in the DMR position, and when he does you can expect to see more long balls up and down the right wing. This explains why he is the Corner Kick taker for the team, and has delivered 3 assists off set pieces.

#17) - Left Winger - Mitchell Nicolas - FC Kolberg - 23 Y/O
Many regard him as the future of Pine Island football, and he has been showing this. Throughout 12 friendlies, Mitchell has 6 assists and two goals - mainly causing this is his bursting speed, and left foot. He played for Newport Lions FC last season, and had 11 assists and 7 goals in 28 matches. He was transferred to FC Kolberg in Semarland for a fee of 1M N$, becoming the first Pine Islander to play overseas.

#22) - Center Midfield - Jacob Gardner - Shaw United - 30 Y/O
Jacob Gardner is a hard person person to guard - he uses his technical capabilities to get around his opponent(s.) When he's not showing off his crossovers, he's getting busy setting up counter attacks, or playing one-twos. Last but not least, his passes are quite dangerous, he loves delivering towering crosses to either wing, with beautiful technical capabilities. He had the most assists in League 1 last season with 22 in 32 games. Gardner will surely be a player to watch for Pine Island.

#15) - Right Winger - David Scott - Chester - 27 Y/O
David Scott doesn't rely on his speed as much as some other teammates, but rather skill - step overs, nutmegs, you name it. He can also shoot from long range, mostly from right outside the penalty box. Oh, and did I forget to mention headers? Yes, Scott uses his head to score from crosses, and corners very often. I wouldn't be surprised if he has several goals using his head this tournament.

#18) - Left Forward - Walton Underhill - FC Dawson - 26 Y/O
Walton Underhill is a very underrated player, primarily with his passing abilities, He managed to surprise many by coming in third in the "Most Assists" Category last season. Underhill on a negative side can never stay healthy, over the last two years, he has been injured for 17 months on 3 different injuries. Starting him on the NT roster is a big risk for manager Shane Starks, as well as the club he plays for - FC Dawson.

#11) - Center Forward - Cleo Sotton - Newport Lions FC - 22 Y/O
Cleo Sotton is the goal scoring machine for both the NT, as well as Newport Lions FC his professional club. He has scored 10 goals in 14 games for Pine Island, as well as 25 goals in 29 games for the Lions. Sotton uses a variety of weapons for scaring goalkeepers, his left foot, his right foot, and last but not least - his head. He is also another young talent for Pine Island; another one to watch in this tournament.

#10) - Right Forward - Elvin Rodriguez - Liberty Rodriguez - 20 Y/O
Rodriguez was found in a local park of Kempsford sleeping in a goal with a ball used as a pillow. He was found by Jim Dale, striker coach who just happened to be on a morning jog in that same park. Rodriguez was taken to club headquarters, where he met with manager Shane Starks, and was admitted to the NT's practice squad. Elvin quickly impressed coaches, and the two managers, and one week later was on the NT roster. He hasn't played any games for the NT yet, so his debut will be a surprise for all.

SUBSTITUTES
#99) - Goalkeeper - Zach Hester - Bellmont City - 19 Y/O
None is really known about him, hasn't played in any NT games and has only played in 2 games for Bellmont City.

#4) - Left Back - Peter Clark - Morant Mountaineers - 33 Y/O
A surprising decision by Shane Starks to sit experience for speed in a big tournament. Bradley Pierce has stole the starting position from the veteran Clark, wouldn't be surprised if Clark comes in if the team is down a goal or two.

#8) - Center Back - Sean Connors - Chester - 29 Y/O
Sean Connors was supposed to start in the place of injured Lance Goodson, but Manager Starks chose Faulkner instead. Connors has height, which he uses in his advantage to many attacking players.

#3) - Center Back - Tony Stone - Allentown Athletic - 26 Y/O
Tony Stone is a very injury prone player, has only played 5 games in the last two seasons for Allentown; no surprise that he's benched. Very productive when he does play, a speedy back who loves to wear opponents out.

#34) - Right Back - Frank Crawford - Clarkson Cougars - 34 Y/O
Frank Crawford is an aging veteran, but very energetic in close games. As his age increases, performance decreases which explains why his professional club is struggling to avoid relegation to League 2.

#13) - Left Winger - Rory Bathhurst - FC Dawson - 24 Y/O
It must have been a tough decision for Manager Starks on who to play at Left Winger; he had two young talents to choose from. Bathhurst however has been in a slump as of late however, 3 yellows in 4 games, and not an assist in 13 games! Hopefully he can turn this around in the Baptism of Fire.

#16) - Center Midfielder - Isaiah Duncan - Rutherford Rangers - 28 Y/O
Isaiah Duncan has also been a slump as of late, which explains why he's been benched for both the NT, as well as Rutherford. He has 1 assist in his last 18 games played, and has many people scratching there heads on how he made it to the NT in the first place.

#14) - Center Midfielder - Noah Stevens - Barnet Bears - 21 Y/O
Noah Stevens is the latest player to make the NT, and looks to be a good talent for Pine Island. He has great crossing abilities, and can shoot from distance as well.

#27) - Right Winger - Mark Baines - Fairview Falcons - 30 Y/O
Mark Baines is a quick, and technical winger using the two to find his way through defenses. Can be a magnet to yellow cards, and will have the ref talking for most of the game. When he is behaving, he is a big threat!

#7) - Left Forward - Matthew Thomas - Free Agent - 31 Y/O
Matthew Thomas is a quiet player; he's only played in two matches for the National Team. In these games, he was able to get three shots on target, unfortunately none went in. Get's himself offside way too many times, positioning is key for this players' success.

#19) - Center Forward - Anthony Jackson - Hilltown Hawks - 23 Y/O
Anthony Jackson is yet another bright spot for a fairly young Pine Island squad. He has scored 12 goals in 25 matches last season in League 1, keeping Hilltown mid-table. Jackson loves to use his left foot for about everything - crossing, passing, and shooting. Put him on the field with a good play maker, and he sure won't disappoint.

#21 - Right Forward - Chris Ellis - Shaw United - 31 Y/O
Chris Ellis is a talented player, who was a strong desire for shooting from long range distances. He struggles with injuries; only played 7 games last season due to a concussion. While many people say he's way past his prime, Chris has shown at times that he is a productive, technical, and creative player.

Rstr
Roster

Manager: Petr Yulayevitch Medvev (QUE, 33, 3-4-3, +2)
A well-seasoned veteran, he previously was the manager of Montreal Koreana and Zenit Attawapiskat for past 5 years, before getting his first job at coaching at a Quebecois NT position. Once there, he has successfully led the Royal Kingdom of Quebec U-15 Executioners to their championship run in U15WC8 held in Mastille, as the assistant manager to Sook Jin Lee.
When it comes to strategies and expectations for players, he's demanding of his players, he is willing to use any strategy to counter the opponent and win. Work ethics, as well as the mentality of Team over Individual, will be expected.
Assistant Manager: Rn Jhnsn (NDK, 24)
Rn was a very promising defender before a serious injury to his leg ended his career at tha age fo 18. Now 23, he's been selected to be assistant manager for the national side due to his good performances managing the top amateur team.

Goalkeepers:
1 - Jk Jnz - 28
Jk is a veteran keeper who is just starting to feel his body age, but he still puts in 110%, and is very athletic, with the main tool in his arsenal being monster diving saves.

12 - Hri Tms - 22
Hri is a keeper in the middle of his career, hoping to make an impact, but as second-string keeper, it looks unlikely until Jk retires.

23 - Jsua Wlsn - 18
Jsua is a highly touted keeper talent, with a exemplary attitude and good athletic skills. His technical skills need some work, but he should be there or thereabouts for at least second string when Jk retires.

Defenders:
2 - Jf Prkr - 24
Jf is a good defender who can mix it with the nation's best, although his attitude leaves something to be desired.

3 - Mrk Brn - 22
Mrk is a middle of the park defender, a good utility who can provide consistently good performances.

4 - Kvn Adms - 26
Kvn is a veteran defender, who dives hard into tackles, but makes sure he's in front of the player first. He has caused injuries, but outside of football, he's a big softy.

13 - Zk Ylw - 18
Zk is an abrasive and combative young defender, who is known to lose his temper, but he can really defend, even better than someone at their peak. His attitude has led him to only be a backup, however.

14 - Bryn MkNtsh - 22
Bryn is a smart analytical player, who spends most of his off the ball time watching the opposition for weaknesses. It's a shame that his technical ability, while good, doesn't anywhere near match his mental ability.

15 - In Tbis - 20
In was an Australian rules footballer before moving on to what many call "the real football" three years ago. He's athletic, albeit still makes the mistake of handling the ball on occasion. He can muscle out almost any forward however.

Midfielders:
5 - Jrj Lepd - 30
Jrj is a very good midfielder, having been a mainstay in the amateur leagues for years. He's hoping he has at least 2-3 more years left in the tank, but it's looking more and more unlikely.

6 - Olvr Frsf - 27
Olvr is a smart cookie, always analysing the team before matches figuring out how they, and ultimately himself, can improve. His technical ability is quite good as well.

7 - Wlm Tbs - 23
Wlm is a strong midfielder, who can muscle almost any player into making errors, but he knows the laws of the game, and tries to avoid fouls, albeit with limited success.

8 - Kyn Tylr - 21
Kyn is a very energetic player, he can zip up and down the pitch with ease, and still have a lot left in the tank when all is said and done. Technically, he needs to work harder, but if he can match his physical skills, he'll be practically unstoppable.

16 - Edwd Nrf - 32
Edwd is a veteran player who, while still having something to offer, is seriously considering retirement. He was a very gifted player at his peak, but has been given one last hurrah before ultimately hanging up the boots.

17 - Hrsn Crtr - 17
Hrsn is a young, raw talent, who has aspirations of becoming a world beater, whether he will achieve that is up to his work ethic, which is flagging as of late.

18 - Jn Eln - 21
Jn is a brute, always going in hard to tackles and generally causing mayhem. He is a very powerful kicker of the ball, but is usually only used in emergencies, or games where the goal is to cripple the opposition, i.e major rivalries with incited hate.

19 - Juln Mnng - 22
Juln is a class act, he always helps out his teammates and almost never takes the glory for himself, always looking for the killer pass. He's a good techincal player, but his niceness does seem to get in the way at times.

Strikers:
9 - Jmz Blyv - 25
Jmz is the number one striker in New Drakonika, having a very powerful and accurate kick. However, he can get angry at the most minuscule of things, and has been thrown off the field more than a few times.

10 - Nthn Smnr - 23
Nthn is your Average Joe when it comes to personality, but god help you if you underestimate him on the pitch. He will rip your defense apart and feast on your goal, or at least he does so in the league.

11 - Mrtn Hrmsn - 18
Mrtn is a very good forward, who always moves the ball with skill and precision, although he's known for showboating and sometimes losing his cool.

20 - Qwncy Prtr - 28
Qwncy is a chance creator, always getting at the line and timing his runs to score on the break. His only issue is that he's offside more often than not due to his mistiming.

21 - Ptr Hndscm - 30
Ptr is a deft touch with a lot of experience under his belt. It's just a shame he's starting to age heavily.

22 - Vctr Hrmsn - 18
Vctr is Mrtn's twin brother who is always always attempting to one him up and gain a competitive edge, however, the rivalry seems to get to Vctr more than it does Mrtn. As such he seems to be slightly worse.

Baptism of fire 57 preview

Pays d'en haut's national soccer team is actually on their way to The Sarian. The "Curé Antoine-Labelle" (it's the name of the ship) has left Repentigny's marina at 8:24 AM on july 14th and is scheduled to arrive in Setter, Isle Oakhurst on october 28th just in time for the game against Abanhfleft scheduled for october 30th. Reports of every Pays d'en haut's game will be send to our newspaper, l'écho du nord, using a wireless telegraph. To send a message via wireless telegraph, the morse alphabet is used. There is actually a slave employed by l'écho du nord travelling with the team which is job will be to send messages using the wireless telegraph to the journal.

It is the first time Pays d'en haut's national team will be competing abroad so we have no idea how good we will be. We could finish 2nd or we could finish 5th. Abanhfleft is known for their recent success in baseball but can they have the same success in soccer? Probably. New Drakonika, the team with unpronounceable names, looks pretty good too. The Oaklands and North Britonisea could have a good tournament either.

Here is Pays d'en haut's schedule:

30th october - Pays d'en haut vs Abanhfleft - Oakhurst Arena, Setter, Isle Oakhurst
31st october - rest day
1st november - The Oaklands vs Pays d'en haut - Oakhurst Arena, Setter, Isle Oakhurst
2nd november - bye
3rd november - Pays d'en haut vs New Drakonika - Fynamore Road, Lavington, Isle Regis
4th november - North Britonisea vs Pays d'en haut - Warrah Park, Stanley, Isle Falkland

Please consider 2 business days before the match report is sent via wireless telegraph and published in this newspaper.

Time to shock the World

Chapter 2: Arrival to Sari Lands

"We are supposed to play on the Sari Lands? At least we can handle their climate, but I still don't know how the Sari people will treat to us" said Nazarenkov and he added "If they treat bad I tell you, more 80 metre goals will come and if they treat well, more assists to come, I hope we can have both so we can win everybody here, not that we can't do" and he whispered "Romorov and Isula Ge Ru scare me."

"Why are you afraid of those Nazarenkov? You have faced Buyanese and you are scared of them. Ok Isula Ge Ru had done well on their regional tournament but that doesn't mean they can beat us, anyway, we must check Romorov and use our best of ourselves and the abilities we have and maybe the abilities of them against them. All of us have played against top-class players and teams and have played against each other, this is our chance, which as the coach sais, is our chance to shock the world. Weird but I like that slogan, anyway, focus on what's important to do and that is winning everybody here and remember, this is a great tournament with chances coming only once in a lifetime." said Makareshi

"But..."

"No buts."

"Why?"

"Because we can, we can win this, just don't bring bad attitude, do your best, we'll win this, I got the feeling and when I got that feeling is always a good luck, every time I've got that stronhg feeling inside me, it is always good, remember how I got to the Globe Cup playoffs with my team, I had that feeling at all games but not the last one, that's why we lost. When I got the feeling always goodlluck happens, mark my words Nazarrenkov, mark my words and lock them deep inside your brain."

"Alright my friend, but we have to ready our times on Sarian, so we can know when to eat breakfast and do program our stuff. All the team has work."

"The coaches have taken care of that, all we need to do now is focus on what we do and then we'll see. THere will be lots of fun, trust me!"

"Ok, let's go to the training."

"Not yet, we are going to have a city tour and then we'll train our normal tactics, defence and counterattack, me, Makarov and Adrianov are planning to do the Jarov plan, do you remember that goal on 2007 by Jarov, who has retired 3 years now?"

"Yes, yes I do remember that, it was an amazing goal, I still watch this goal today."

"Yeah, we have done it successfully once, that rabona made by Adrianov was stunning he just scored an excellent goal on Lazrovich."

"I didn't see that goal."

"It was the time when you were talking with Markov."

"Oh, now I remember."

"Alright, let's get to the team's bus."

"Great."

and they got inside that bus, it was blue and yellow outside having the eagle they had on their kits and inside the left side had blue seats and right side had yellow seas, coach's seats were red and the driver's seat black. It had 2 TV's and a roof, but because everyone was on the roof, nobody except the bus drver and the coaches were down. Raksimovich had been to the Sari Lands once before, but on Chippenham not Port Salvador that's why he didn't say a thing, anyway he would have been the one who was talking about the sites. But anyway, a Sari was excplaining the sites in Spanish, which every Estenian had the knowledge to, because it is a need language to speak, along with Estenian, Russian, Ukrainian, Indonesian and English. Maksimov had seen a beautiful Sari lady and spent some minutes watching her and her beauty. He didn't have the chance to speak and only Eenpalu saw him watching that girl, so with all the curiosity he had, he asked

"Are you in love with that Sari beauty?"

"How did you notice?" asked Maksimov

"Easy, take an example of me, when I was at your age, I was on holidays to Bratislav and there was a very beautiful Bratislavan woman, I didn't know that was Makareshi's sister but anyway. I fell in love with her and became a couple, last year we had our second child, come talk to her now that you have the time, or else, a chance like it may never come back."

"So, I hunt my chance and win it?"

"Yes, do it now!" said Eenpalu while softly hitting Maksimov's back

"WE HAVE TO LEAVE!" said then the coach

"Goddamnit, we have to go on our hotel before training now."

"It's ok, I think you'll have the chance again, I saw her holding tickets to our match against Seltik."

"Oh, alright. Great! I love her so much!"

"I know, I know, I won't tell anybody!"

"You're a real freind Eenpalu."

"Thanks, now let's take a sit and wait until we reach hotel, here have a seat."

said Eenpalu while showing Maksimov his seat and the journey continues...

Goalkeeper: Anthony FERREZ - #07 - 21
Anthony was chosen because of his reflexes. He also plays for a proffesional baseball team. Anthony, however, has a rubbish kick, and during a goal kick, would kick to Rachel RUBY, so she could pass it to the striker.
Left back: Rachel RUBY - #24 - 20
Rachel has strong kick, which makes up for her lack of speed. She's skilled in reading the field, and was chosen as one of the top 5 defenders.
Right back: Fergus DRAW - #27 - 27
As the second oldest player, Fergus has had a lot of experience on the field. He started his career at 16, playing for Malais Tigers. He soon progressed, and fell back from a midfielder to a defender. However, he's quick to go forward.
Left centre back: Tara RALAIS - #56 - 23
Tara has an aggressive streak, so watch out if she tackles you. She was picked for her ability to take the ball from the opponents, making her top defender. However, Tara also holds the record for the most yellow or red cards, as sometimes she's too aggresive.
Right Centre Back: Mathieu FINDENSKI - #17 - 19
Mathieu is only player not born in Sumaltheria. He has the skill to make him a great defender, but he lacks team relationships, and always uses his own tactics.
Left Midfield: Damien SILVA - #99 - 22
Damien is considered the 'worst' player, as he has never played for a major league team. However, he has plenty of skill, and can't wait to show it off.
Right Midfield: Jenna TAYLOR - #06 - 20
Jenna is extremely flexible, and willing to fill any place necessary. She excels at nothing, but is a well rounded player.
Left Centre Midfield: Tobias DARING - #01 - 28
As the oldest player, Tobias has plenty of experience, which makes up for his lack of speed. However, he can read the field well, and helps to make all major decisions on tactics.
Right Centre Midfield: Yuvon QUIO - #13 - 17
Yuvon is the youngest player, but has been playing longer than some. He started as soon as he could walk, and has been playing ever since. His experience makes up for his timidness, as he isn't good at tackling.
Striker: Angela TETE - #33 - 20
Angela is the idol for all aspiring footballers. She plays as hard as she can, never trying less than her best. She's keen to make as many shots towards the goal as possible, even if they don't go in. However, she makes sure there is a chance before shooting.
Second Striker: Percival CRUMP - #10 - 18
Percival isn't the brightest spark on the team, and will follow orders endlessly, regardless to where they take him. Percival can hit an amazing header, and do amazing shots, but isn't very nimble and prefers not to dribble.

Reserves:
GK - Martin HOFFMAN - #14 -25
LD - Jane FREEMAN - #08 - 24
Francois GICHEFF - #22 - 21
LCD - Robert DONATELLO - #12 - 23
RCD - Maria SILVA - #16 -24
LM - Ana ERAGON - #02 - 25
RM - Tina OPAL - #03 - 20
LCM - Jasmine HAWKINSON - #34 - 19
RCM - Charles AMONTAGNE- #43 - 26
S - Nim WHATELY - #05 - 24
SS - Simon TERRANCE - #11 - 24

Manager: Millie RATCHET - 29
Millie has never actually played for a proper team, due to an unfortunate accident the day before she signed up, leaving her with a limp. However, she had trained as much as she could up to that point, and is still mad about football. Not only can she read the field and adjust the players to the best formation for them, she has a great team spirit, and encourages everyone.

Coach: André MASALI - 30
André has retired from a successful career in football simply to let others play! Being top of his game, he pushes others to do the same, and never lets anyone leave practise without them achieving his best. However, this has led to various team members not liking him as much. There is also a rumor about him and the manager, Millie, being together, which no one can confirm true nor false.

Captain and set piece takers:
Captain: Tobias DARING
Co-Captain: Fergus DRAW
Left Corner Taker: Rachel RUBY
Right Corner Taker: Jenna TAYLOR
Penalty Kick Taker: Percival CRUMP
Free Kick Taker: Yuvon QUIO

Tactics:
The team take the standard 4-4-2, emphasising defense (-3.5). However they are extremely flexible, and will change depending on the other team, with emphasis on defense. Rachel and Anthony are a strong pair, with Anthony almost always passing to Rachel. Rachel is likely to pass down the field to someone like Tobias. Fergus would take the ball forward, and pass to the nearest player, as would Tara. Mathieu is likely to ignore the other players, and move as far forward as possible, before passing to Percival or Angela. The midfielders have no preferences between them, passing to whoever they think is best at that moment. They work on a quick passing skill between them, moving the ball up to Angela and Percival. From there, Angela is more likely to take the ball, although Percival will get a few passes towards him. Both try to score as quick as they can, but will pass if it is impossible

Winnie Paula walks onto the stage, followed by a young woman. They sit down on two velvet covered chairs, and take a sip from the water left for them. Winnie smiles, bright red hair bouncing up and down in ringlets.
WP: Welcome to Sumaltherian Stars! Let's welcome our special guest, striker on the national team: Angela Tete!
The audience applauds as Winnie points to Angela.
WP: So, Angela, how do you think our team will fair in the 57th Baptism of Fire.?
AT: Well, we have a strong team. We work well together, and certainly have the skill, but we can only do our best!
WP: How do you feel about the coach? We know he is not a favourite amongst some of your team.
AT: Well, he tries to mmake us the best we can be, and I respeft him for that, but we do have lives outside of football, as hard as it is to believe!
WP: That's good to hear! Well, we have to go now, but see you next time!

Pine Island Football Federation HQ, Newport, Pine Island

President Sam Hayward of the Pine Island Football Federation (PIFF) sat alone in his office staring at 3 television screens in front of him; all three showing the most recent friendlies Pine Island has played. What Hayward was trying to do was identify what things the Eagles, (Pine Islands' sports nickname) needed to improve on before the Baptism of Fire began. He was interrupted by three loud thumps on his door.

"Come in!"

Manager Shane Starks of Pine Islands' national team entered followed by two other familiar faces Hayward recognized. Captain Jacob Garnder, as well as the starting Goalkeeper, Kevin Saunders.

"Aye Sam, you called?", asked Starks.

"Yes, your flight departs' in 6 hours. Instead of loitering around the building doing nothing, why don't we study our weaknesses shown in these recent friendlies?" "Take a seat."

The three men filled comfortable leather coaches that sat adjacent to Hayward's own.

"Excellent. Now, last match we played a pretty interesting Devonta team, a fellow competitor in the Fire. I noticed several flaws, primarily in our midfield. I don't want central passing guys, I want wings. We have some good quality talent in Mitch, and David who can run down those flanks all damn day long."

The three nodded, and continued to listen to the President speak. Coincidentally came Mitchell Nicolas knocking on the door. He walked over to each gentlemen, shook hands, and took a seat next to Starks.

"Too anxious, I've waited all week for this. Think of it, in 12 or so hours we'll be training in a new stadium, in a different country!", yelled out Mitchell. His excitement was always a positive through a good game, or bad.

"Aye, the whole nation is excited about this. I haven't read a paper yet that haven't had us on the front page of the sports section," said the keeper.

"For Christs' sake, let me just get the whole roster up here so we're all on the same page!" said Sam Hayward.

Two minutes later and every coach in the big room was filled. Every player had a big grin on his face, starter or not.

"Alright lads, the time has come. You have trained a year for this opportunity, for this big moment to represent our country in a tournament! Angry looks were exchanged, curses were spat, fists were raised, but at the end of the day we still together as one team with one purpose. You see, know one knows us. Were on the corner of Esportiva with a name that represents our economy, nothing else. When people hear of us they say, 'Oh that tiny forested island? What about them?'

I was speaking to a cousin who lives in Semarland; he's extremely excited about the tournament. He was speaking to his friends about where he was from, and they didn't even know we were on this planet! Well gentlemen, it's time to change this reputation. It's time to put Pine Island back on the map figuratively, and literally! When the tournament's over, I want to hear 'Pine Island, yes what a nation! They did this! They did that!' So remember gents, do it for your country when you step on that field. When I see you playing on television, I want to see passion, anger, creativity, determination, and lastly courage. Can you guys do this for me?"

"YES WE CAN!", yelled out the team.

"Can you guys do it for your country?", asked Hayward.

"YES WE CAN!", yelled out the team once more.

"Excellent guys, I believe in every single one of you that you'll do well. Now you have a couple hours before departure, so let's study what there is to work on."

With this said the team leaned back, watched closely, and communicated with one another on what there was to improve on.

Friskney Eaudyke national football team roster

Manager: Fraiser Barrett - 40
Barrett is a well known face across Friskney Eaudyke. His career spanned 22 years and 6 different clubs until his retirement at the end of last season. What better candidate to take the job? Apart from someone with actual managerial experience of course, of which he has none. Bit of a strange first job to take, but there's probably not all that much pressure on him, being first time entrants and all that. Maybe he'll use it as a stepping stone into club management if he is successful in this endeavor, and someone who is more experienced can take his place next time around.

Stv Rk sighed as he read the newspaper. It read in massive bold Impact font "RK FAILS TO RESOLVE HYPERINFLATION" which has the words "One NS Dollar now 16,777,216 Drkns and doubling hourly."

It wasn't true, as it was the spoof newspaper named "The Beet". in reality, the inflation rate was a comparatively mere 1.4% per year. Still, people bought The Beet for their sensationalist headlines, and while they made no secret of the fact that it is satire, some people still believed it like it was gospel, much like the human vaccines and autism story that gets thrown around.

Stv had attempted many times to stop The Beet from being sold at news stands, and only to be sold via subscription and online, but nothing had passed through this minority government in 2 and a half years, and with the 4 year term limit, Stv was feeling the pressure, not just about the Beet, but about the government as a whole.

Each party had its own agenda. The Libertarians were anarcho-capitalists, the Socialists were supreme equality in everything, the Moderates were apathetic, the Democrats were slightly to the left, and the Republicans were slightly to the right. But Stv's Party, the Green Party, had taken most, but not all of the parliamentary seats in the 600 seat parliament.

The parties stood with 209 to the Greens, 154 to the Socialists, 98 to the Libertarians, 56 to the Moderates and 46 each to the Democrats and Republicans. Unfortunately, not many other parties agreed with the Greens apart from the Socilaists, and while the Greens were socialist to a degree, they weren't to the extremes of their partners in parliament.

Even then, they still had the Monarchy and King Jm Tmplr to worry about. And the nation was gearing up for their WCC event debut, as they were to begin the 57th Baptism of Fire in The Sarian, a nation formerly known for their extremist hate towards sentient non-humans, although that seemed to have mostly died away.

The nation would be too busy watching the football to watch the politics, which people rarely did anyway, which is why turnout is usually low. A perfect time to ram some legistlation through, according to the other minor parties, which were gathering as Stv sat in though, with an attempt at calling an early election.

Time to shock the World

Chapter 3: First training on Sari Lands

It was a beuatiful day at Estenia's training ground in Port Salvador, the players were training nicely after resting for about 15 days after the end of the most successful Meistriliiga season of Estenian football, but this extraordinary season continues as Baptism of Fire begins in lesser than 3 days and all the players are excited to play the first match. Especially the Makareshi, Makarov, Adrianov trio which are planning to use the Jarov Plan in the first match, but firstly so the players are ready for a nice goal, they are planning to show it to the coach and pretty much everybody in this training and the other 2 that are going to take place in the other 2 days. So Makareshi recived the ball, he saw Makarov moving, gave the ball to him, he moved for about 5 metres before giving the pass and Adrianov doing an excellent rabona, ending on Maksimov's net. Maksimov was surprised because a rabona was easy to b saved, he sai back on Estenia. After 2 hours of training Nazarenkov asked for the ball.

Nazarenkov was given the ball and moved on, saw Maksimov leaving space for him to shot, he shoots and scores, this time from farther, around 85 metres in range and he said

"Maksimov, pay attention to the game and leave no space, they will score easy goals on you."

"But, but..." said Maksimov

"No buts."

"Alright, so I need to talki to Eenpalu now. EENPALU!"

"Yes?" he asked

"I need to talk to you."

"Alright."

"So about that girl."

"Oh, I didn't tell any..."

"That's not the point, I think I fell in love with her even more and now they score me better goals."

"She's supposed to give you power, I think I saw her, may I bring her here?"

"Wow! Can you do this?"

"Yes."

after some seconds Eenpalu brought that girl on the front seats so she wopuld she Maksimov playing, Maksimov then took strength, he keeped every shot from every player, he was just unstoppable, nobody could score a goal on him not even Adrianov, Adrianov was doing chanxce after chance, but the fingers or hands of Maksimov were unstoppable. After training finished, he went down, he did his cross, thanksed god and watched the woman. He went near her and asked

"Hello, what's your name my lady?"

"My name is Sarianna Garcia."

"Oh, Sarianna is a nice name. Do youy want to meet tommorow?"

"I'd love to."

"Oh thanks." said Maksimov and hugged her tightly, then leaving with his teammates.

On the bus

On the bus, Adrianov and Markov were playing sabsedo game Mrosna Bros online with Jakubson and Makrov and Jakubson was the only one who was winning at every game but he was playing this game since it got out, that's why he knew more moves and such. So in trhe last game Jakubson said

"I win you at every game, is there anyone who can beat me at this bus."

Nazarenkov was hearing him and was a bit of angry because Jakobson was spoiling himself all the time, so he challenged him to a Marathon Match, it had all the matchmodes which were 42 and the winner of most of them was the winner. So Nazarenkov used his mind to win him and when he won him 22-20 he said

"Sorry for making you angry here but why only me, Makareshi and Eenpalu are motivational helpers here, everyone must have our gifts, not just us. Everyone now let's just forgive and forget, now that we are near home."

and Makareshi got up and said angrily

"Nope, everyone has these skills we have, nobody knows it yet because none of them use it almost their whole lives, is this understood?"

"Yes, totally."

"Great, now let's clean the mess we have in our minds."

"Alright dude." said Peehlak

"I was reffering to Nazarenkov here."

"Alright, I'll just leave."

"Good."

"So I see the hote, we are here." shouted Maksimov to the others and the journey continues...

It was never going to be easy. Hell, some might have said it would be impossible.

WILL COLLINS - FOOTBALLER OR WOMANIZER?

Having been involved deep within controversy since I had been 22...

COLLINS MARRIAGE BREAKING UP?

...was certainly very tough to get used to. Having a few bad performances attributed to my past...

COLLINS' EARLY SHOWER - WOMEN AFFECTING HIS CAREER?

...managers saying I was a has-been since I was twenty-five...

WILL COLLINS A HAS-BEEN: RANDIA STARS MANAGER

And those were the tabloids. What did the "respectable newspapers" have to say about me?

Almost the same things, to tell the truth. The media are annoying. Even when I felt I had a good game, or when the manager felt I had a good game, I was still being lambasted in the papers for my "lacklustre" performances.

Often I happen to hear, on the tube or on the bus, that they want to become famous footballers like Henry Pandon or Ryan Hughes. If I got the chance to speak to them, I'd try dissuade them. If they still wanted to be one, I'd yell at them.

That's how much I hate this bloody sport these days. It's all the media's fault.

Everyone was shocked when Jordan Fletcher called me up for the national team. Jesus, the odds of me getting called up for the team were almost 100/1 the last time I saw them in Benson Hill. People asked questions. Whether my wealthy father paid a lot of money to get me into the team. Whether my mother had used her beauty to get me in.

But no. I will prove the media wrong. I will become one of the best Tumbran footballers again. Time will tell whether I go out as a legend or falter as "Womanizer Collins".

Time will tell.

"Some people have criticised your choice of Will Collins for the national team. Could you perhaps explain your reasons for selecting him?"
"I have no reasons. I choose players based on their ability, attitude, consistency and other things. Perhaps you might argue that Collins has none of those things. But even if I choose the best players based on that alone, they might falter due to nerves and other unforseen stuff. Which is why I chose Will. I have faith in him, that faith that he will be able to perform in the Baptism of Fire."

“Coach Howard,” the reporter asked. “Why has Atrua entered the very World Cup that started the idol worshipping in Tynelia which eventually took over and exiled us from our former homeland?”

“Well young man,” Coach Jacob Howard replied, the veteran player, coach and head of the sporting department in Atrua despite only having just turned 50 this past spring was the clear choice for the team’s first coach. “The Lord would have us show others the error of their ways in the hopes that they would return to His embrace to be welcomed as the prodigal son once had. As Tynelia has fallen into near anarchy and civil war due their abomination known as the so-called ‘Lord of Scores’ to the point where they are no longer part of any international community activities, it is our duty to show them how faith in the Lord is always the truest path to success in all things.”

“But our entire population according to the last census is just over 3,300 people and our island is only 320 square kilometers. How can we compete with the soccer dynasties with millions of people to draw upon that participate in the World Cup?” another reporter asked as his turn came up.

“Did David care that Goliath was much larger than he when he took to the battlefield? No it is the size of the fight and will to win, not how big a place or person is that will decide things. In any event this is the Baptism of Fire not the world cup.”

“That’s another thing,” a third reporter chimed in, “I don’t like the sound of the firey baptism, it sounds Satanic almost. Should we really be part of such a thing?”

“True, Baptism is a sacrament of water not fire and so we shall strive to get the name change to a more appropriate one which will no doubt require a victory in the tournament.” The coach answered nodding to the next reporter.

“But how can we win when our main objective is to prevent any scoring to avoid the taint that afflicted Tynelia?” the prompted reporter asked with concern.

“Yes the abomination of Tynelia is to be avoid as best one can. To that effect we have made sure that Hans- though he seems to prefer the nickname Gandalf because as he says ‘None shall pass!’ when it comes to opponents trying to score- is ready to bring his shutdown talents to this bigger arena. If he can do that, then it only takes a single goal to win. Surely God shall not paint us with the Tynelian brush over such a trifle.”

“What of the rumors, that Kyle Ortan was once seen at a beach which allowed women to wear BIKINIS instead of a proper one piece bathing suit? Will such a scandal be a distraction to the team?” the first reporter asked into the brief silence which had followed.

“ Some people are too concerned over things like that, the tourists that visit our island don’t usually follow our ethical code…” Coach began before the first reporter interrupted

“And that’s another issue, should we allow these foreigners to taint our culture and spit on our ways when they come thundering down here in their many hosts by inviting them in like this? “ the first reporter added.

“A people who isolate themselves soon find themselves no more.” Coach Howard answered. “Sure there me be more people visiting than ever, but look at it as an opportunity to show these people our way of life and if even one of them decides to follow our example then it is a success in my eyes.”

“But what about…” the first reporter pressed, before the others shushed him.

“If there’s nothing else then let me just say I have high hopes for our youngsters on the team and we want to go out and make a strong showing here which we can then carry over to the World cup proper. If we fail then so be it. But the lazy man earns no merit and to stay huddled on our small island and ignore the rest of the world would be the lazy thing to do. But believe in the Lord and you may work miracles. Thank you.”

Fire on the Water
Intrigue in Isula ĝe Ru

Prologue, Part I

Three Years ago, National Square, Isula ĝe Ru, Isula ĝe Ru

The square was buzzing. Had a traveler come by, it would have seemed to be a normal Saturday. But to someone who was in the square every week, it was clear that something was different. The market tents were bustling, but the banknotes being exchanged seemed stale in the registers, and the food they purchased was only nibbled at. The normal hubbub of conversation and music that graced National Square on a Saturday afternoon had given way to apprehensive murmurs and furtive glances. The stage opposite the Parliament Building, so often a site for festivities and parties, now seemed to loom above the meager crowd, though it was hung with festive banners. The black and silver banners dangled from the edge of the elevated stage to the ground, obscuring the area beneath it. Whisperings and mutterings were heard all around, and walking through the throng, one could hear snatches of apprehensive conversation. "The first time in six hundred years"..."requested specifically"...."public". The word "public" was prominent among them, often spoken with a tone of bafflement or wonderment.

The clock on the Parliament Building struck three, and as the final strains of the booming brass bells faded away, a trumpet sounded, shrill and harsh, quieting the crowd. The square was surrounded on three sides by the soaring walls of the Scholar's Hall, and on the north side was the Parliament Building. In the walls of the hall were catwalks and large openings open to the public, creating terraces and tiers of seating for those who wished to watch goings-on in the square. A fistful of people gathered here, though they were nothing compared to the crowd below, and the crowd below was nothing compared to a normal crowd.

At the sound of the trumpet, a door in the wall next to the stage opened onto a small platform, encircled by a railing with a commanding view of the stage and the square below. Six men emerged onto the platform, but only one, a balding man dressed in traditional herald's garb, remained. As a hush fell over the crowd, the remaining five trooped down a thin flight of stairs onto the stage, where they stood beneath a large beam. The ones on either side wore traditional surcoats, embroidered with the national arms, and carried massive and razor-sharp halberds. They were of the Espeguladori Isula, the Island Guard, an elite force tasked with the safety of government officials and buildings. The halberds they carried were, much as today was, a grim reminder of ancient tradition. In the capital city, no firearms of any kind were permitted. Upon its introduction, gunpowder was mistrusted and shunned, and this mistrust left a legacy that not even the most despicable of criminals would dare disrespect. There had never been a firearm upon the island city.

The three men between the Espeguladore, in a stark contrast to their traditional garb, were dressed smartly in suits and ties. If it were another day and another event, some of the girls in the crowd might have been swooning over the rightmost man, young and lean in a well-fitting suit, a neatly-trimmed coat of stubble painted across his prominent jaw, and short black hair, long on the top so it seemed to reach up towards the open air. The middle man, in a gray suit and black tie, was clean-shaven, and let his brown hair fall to his shoulders. The final man was the only one who showed any sign of unease, his dark hair clinging tight to the sweat on his brow.
There would be no comments on their looks today, however. The brightly polished handcuffs that secured their hands behind their backs prevented it, and the way the Espeguladore had their razor-sharp halberd blades just a little too close to their charges nearly drove it from the minds of the sparse crowd.

The herald on the platform held a microphone in his hand. When the five had taken their position on the stage, he tapped it, sending pops and static bouncing around the square. Satisfied that it was working properly, he lifted it to his mouth, took a deep breath, and addressed the crowd.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. As you know, we are gathered in this way for the first time in over six hundred years. The three men before you have been detained and are prepared to meet justice as decided by an impartial jury, and, in the nature of their crimes, the Supreme Court of the nation. These men are: Marĉu Eduuaramaria Elhu, convicted of three counts of High Treason, four counts of Murder, fourteen counts of Attempted Murder, thirty-one counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, one count each of Arson, Vandalism, Conspiracy to Commit Arson, Conspiracy to Commit Treason, Conspiracy to Commit High Treason, and Grand Theft. For these crimes, he has been sentenced to four hundred and sixty-six years in prison, and death."

The herald paused to catch his breath, have rattled off every crime in quick succession without inhaling. Marĉu Eduuaramaria Elhu, his black hair stirring slightly with the motion, merely inclined his head at the crowd, who stood in stunned and uncomfortable silence.

"Gordán Martu ĝ'Alba, convicted of the same crimes as well as a second count of Conspiracy to Commit High Treason. For these crimes, he has been sentenced to five hundred and thirty-one years in prison, and death."
Gordán gave a small smile, though he didn't dare act as cocky as Marĉu had. His shoulder-length hair bobbed as he turned to face the now-sweating herald.

"And Fabiu Ĉiĉu Marcamaria, convicted of four counts of High Treason and six counts of Murder, pardoned for four of the Murder charges in exchange for information and testimony. He has been sentenced to one hundred and seventy years in prison, and death."

Fabiu was sweating even more profusely now that it had been revealed that he had betrayed his comrades. He gave nervous glances at his fellows, and across the galleries, his beady eyes lingering for seconds on a shadowed corner diagonal from the stage. There were no smiles from Fabiu, no suave badassery. He looked the only one who was aware that he was sentenced to death.

This was where the herald became unsure. With sidelong glances to the galleries where the Scholar's Council, dignitaries, and witnesses were seated in grim silence, he began anew.

"As per tradition, the condemned were granted a final request; they were permitted to choose the date, time, place, and manner of their death. All three have chosen to be hanged from the neck until dead on today's date, in a few moment's time, on National Square. In accordance with tradition and the laws of the nation, their request has been granted. They are also allowed any religious provisions made."

Now, the herald addressed the condemned, and there was a note of venom in his voice.

"Gentlemen, do any of you require religious rites or rituals that have not been performed?"

All replied in the negative, Marĉu even having the gall to give the herald and the Scholar's Council a beaming smile.

"Then let it be done."

Another Espeguladorau moved up the stage platform, walking along the edge just above the banners covering the space below. He carried three lengths of stiff rope. With deft hands, he tied nooses, holding them up for the crowd to see, and tying them to the beam above the heads of the condemned. The High Scholar rose, his eyes cold ice, and addressed each prisoner individually, as was custom.

"Marĉu Eduuaramaria Elhu, of families Eduuara, Maria, and Elhu, before the sun sinks in the waters which gave you life, you will have lost that precious gift. How and where do you wish to rest?"

Marĉu glared right back, a gaze with such intensity the High Scholar's robes seemed to be on the verge of bursting into flame.

"My homeland, Isula Esiru"

"We will see it done"

With that, the noose was fastened tight around Marĉu's neck. He showed no sign of discomfort.

The ritual was repeated twice more, each man giving the same answer of "My homeland, Isula Esiru". The third Espeguladorau strode to the side of the stage, standing near the lever which would open the center of the stage up, out from under the feet of the condemned, and send them to their fate.

"If you wish your last words to be remembered, utter them now"

Another fiery glare from Marĉu to the High Scholar, before he spoke in a loud, clear tone, using the High Scholar's full name.

"Samuél Graĉiĝu Saidoselha, of families Graĉiĝu and Saidoselha?"

"Yes?" The word was poison.

"Fuck you"

The High Scholar gave Marĉu a small smile.

"Espeguladorau, do your duty"

The man's fingers touched the lever.

The crowd leaned forward.

Fabiu closed his eyes.

And across the square, three arrows that had been nocked to strings for half a day set sail.

Somstratzka IFC in a combative mood ahead of Baptism of Fire 57 - 28/10/2014 Ichibana Hokkaido

SWANSTAD -- The national team seems to be in a combative mood ahead of the upcoming Baptism of Fire 57. This will be their few first international matches and they will be stumbling onto the international stage for the first time. The manager Xavier Chan believes that, “Despite the team’s ‘lack of international training’ we should manage to at the most get to the knockout stage. It would be a dream to surpass our highest expectations. It would show the world the standard of local football in Somstratzka is good enough to combat other new footballing superpowers entering the international stage. We are starting to set a pre-cup friendly with another team just to see how the team goes on the international stage but I believe the team works very well together and has very good chemistry with each other. The team to them is a second family.”

Many in Somstratzka are currently talking about the team’s chances in this competition and many are keeping optimistic about this competition. Many sports pundits are not believing Somstratzka are ready to take on the international stage yet. Many believe that the team don’t know international teams tactics that well and will be scratching their heads at other teams tactics.

The Somstratzkan Age will be covering the competition as it goes along. We will report on how the competition is going and don’t forget to watch matches live on KNTV. - Ichibana Hokkaido

OOC: As I said earlier I will not be very active so I am sorry.

Oh and while you have just finished reading my whole post you might want to arrange a flight with my airline Swanstad Airlines!

ABANHFLEFT ROSTER FOR BAPTISM OF FIRE 57: CONTINUED
By Fred Huddersfield

RIUWIEE - Now that we've taken care of the first XI of our Democratic Republic's team, let's talk about the substitutes and reserves.

#12 - VICTORIA CARTER - GOALKEEPER
(28 years old, Xemlice Rovers Ladies, female
For a keeper, Vicky's fairly young, but at 28, she's no spring chicken either. But she's a good keeper, and she's (mostly) the one responsible for Xemlice's impressively low number of goals conceded in last year's Ladies' Premier League cycle. She won't be starting in many games, but when she does start, expect no stupidly conceded goals from this orange-haired keeper. Also expect lots of comments on how and why her orange hair is clashing with the pink keeper's kit.

#13 - JORDANA VALENTINE - LEFT BACK
(23 years old, Xemlice Rovers Ladies, female)
Sometimes red means stop. And that's the case with Dana here. Even though she's more of a substitute than a starting player, whenever opponents see her red hair bounding towards them, they know that it's high time that they stopped whatever it was they were planning to do with the ball. Dana's a young, strong defender with an impressive clearance kick that could reach the opposite goal area in the right conditions. And when the opposition begins bearing down on the Fleftic goal, expect to see her charge the person with the ball and tackle him or her. Of course, it means that she's liable to get carded or give away a penalty, but who cares? She's a redhead!

#14 - DAWN JACKSON - CENTRAL BACK
(24 years old, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, female)
The hard thing about describing defenders as briefly as possible is that there's nothing much to distinguish one defender from another, except maybe their height, strength, or maybe the power of their kicks. Let's just say that Dawn here is a good defender, and leave it at that. Yeah?

#15 - CLAIRE OSGOOD - RIGHT BACK
(24 years old, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies FC, female)
Argh... I'm running out of words to describe our players. She's a right back. Looks like some girl from Doctor Who. The new one, not the old one. End of story.

#16 - WALTER WHITE - CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER
(32 years old, Fleftic Air Force, male)
No, not that Walter White. This is just some guy who unfortunately shares the same name with the guy from Breaking Bad. Make of it what you will.

#17 - RACHEL AZUL - LEFT WINGER
(22 years old, Antslinngs Islands Ladies FC, female)
After her, I won't be writing anything beyond player name, number, position, age, club, and gender. It's just too much for my poor old brain.

#18 - CECILIA JOHNSON - RIGHT WINGER
(22 years old, Antslinngs Islands Ladies FC, female)

#19 - JOSH HODGES - LEFT ATTACKING MIDFIELDER
(25 years old, Bananas FC, male)

#20 - PETER RICE - RIGHT ATTACKING MIDFIELDER
(27 years old, Hapoel Nineveh FC, male)

#21 - GUSTAVO POTTER - LEFT STRIKER
(26 years old, Gryphons Nubalochi FC, male)

#22 - RANDY FLOYD - RIGHT STRIKER
(24 years old, Vompommern Nyqvist FC, male)

#23 - IKENNA OBAMA - GOALKEEPER
(22 years old, Admiral Porcusces FC, male)

Here's the upcoming schedule of fixtures for Abanhfleft:
October 30: VS Pays den haut
October 31: Rest Day
November 1: VS New Drakonika
November 2: VS North Britonisea
November 3: Bye
November 4: VS The Oaklands

For the upcoming game against Pays d'en Haut, here's our starting eleven:

Formation: 4-3-1-2
GK: James Tarragona
LB: Jefferson Samonte
LCB: Nestor Mikkelsen
RCB: Luke Edwards
RB: Charles Amoroso
CDM: Abdullah Musa
LW: Adelaide Singh
RW: Lillian Prescott
CAM: Allison Torres
LS: Alexandra Rousseau
RS: Chelsea Stuart
Style modifier: +2

ADDITIONAL INFO (IF YOU WANT)
RP permissions are go wild! Except no godmodding and no killing. Max 3 yellow cards per game, and 1 red card per 3 games. Yep, that should be it.

I was due for training at the St George's Park National Football Centre, where we would also undergo our medicals and other proceedcures.

As I drove along in my silver Honda, I noticed something wasn't right. It was too quiet. Ah yes, the radio. I turned it on.

"...recent, and in fact constant speculation on why Will Collins has been selected for the national team..."

I turned it off immediately. The media could go and stuff their heads up their arses. I literally couldn't care less if the entire media headquarters were burnt down. They could go die in a fire. Along with the building.

I pulled up at the ground and walked into the reception centre, where I was directed to a changing room for my medical. Had I been early or late? If I were late, then I knew immediately that I would be the latest talking point on The Star, that garbage trashrag tabloid that served only to present topless women to men. Fucking tabloids. What would their headline about me be? Tardy Will Collins! Footballer turns up late for training - should he even be in the team at all?

I heard someone enter the room next to me. Don, it must've been. So I wasn't late after all. I breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to change.

I passed my medical and jogged onto the pitch where some of the team, including Henry Pandon, were waiting. Pretty soon, the entire team and Jordan Fletcher were there, and we started training.

The defenders and strikers were working together, on clearances. I was okay at them, not as good as Hal Thornton, nor as bad as Louis'.

Defending set pieces were next, and so on and so forth.

At the end of the day, Jordan pulled me over and said he wanted to talk to me.

"I'd just like to let you know..."

Here it came. I was going to be dropped and the tabloids were going to have a fucking field day on this piece of news.

"...that I have full confidence in your abilities as a centerback and hope that the media pressure does not get you down."

I was shocked. Here I was, thinking I was going to be dropped, and the gaffer comes up to me and says not to let my head down? It was a piece of good news in my very sad life indeed.

New Bordial Team Preview: Defenders

02 - Park JoonHae
Position: Leftback
Age: 28
Clubs:
Y74-Y79 - North End Pandas
Y79-Y81 - River's Mouth F.C.
Y81-Y82 - Vasenshir
Y82- East Myrian

At the age of 17, Park JoonHae was promoted from the North End Pandas youth academy where he quickly became a starter in this League II team. Despite his great performances for the team, his year at North End Pandas acted primarily for development. North End Pandas opted to decline to resign him at the age of 22 upon their promotion to the Premier League and JoonHae signed with mid-table League II team, River's Mouth F.C. The following Y79-Y80, JoonHae's role as leftback was a key player in their shocking promtion playoff victory over his former club North End Pandas. JoonHae had a key role in keeping the team in the Premier League in the Y80-Y81 which led to a contract being bought out by Vasenshir. However, JoonHae faced competition at the left back posistion with Niko Re, Vasenshir homegrown. JoonHae was sold to East Myrian after Vasenshir determined him to be excess. JoonHae became a consistent top performer at struggling Premier League club East Myrian and has helped save them from relegation multiple times.

03 - Evan Kil-Ho
Position: Centreback
Age: 24
Clubs:
Y77- Silverback F.C.

Evan Kil-Ho, hailing from Silverback proper, signed to Silverback F.C. at the age 16. Intially, he played primarily with the reserve team but by the age of 18, he was a squad rotation member in Silverback F.C.'s squad. Following his great performances in the Y81-Y82 season at the age of 19, Kil-Ho solidified his role as a starter in the emerging Premier League powerhouse. However, this team status only lasted until an expected relegation playoff in which Kil-Ho denial of a goal saved the team from relegation. This earned Kil-Ho a long-term contract with the club. In the Y83-Y84 season, Kil-Ho became a nominee for defender of the year following Silverback F.C.'s miraculous recover to a mid-table finish. In Y84-Y85, Kil-Ho earned his 1st defender of the year title as Silverback F.C. placed in the top 3 for the 2nd time in history.

04 - Rodney Lin
Position: CB
Age: 28
Clubs:
Y78-Y80 - Westwrought F.C.
Y80-Y84 - East Myrian
Y82-Y83 - Bordial F.C. (loan)
Y84- Frogolem

Rodney Lin had a late start to his career as he was picked up by the rarely used Phase 3 - League System entry method. Rodney Lin was a 1st round pick for Westwrought F.C. Rodney Lin remained a bench player for much of his 1st 2 seasons at Westwrought F.C., however, his stellar 3rd season prompted a sale to East Myrian Lin played a big role in preventing East Myrian's relegation. After his performances and East Myrian's need for cash, he was sent on loan to Bordial F.C. with a optional buy-on clause which was denied by Bordial F.C. Lin was sold at a low fee to Frogolem where he has become a star player and nominee for Defender of the Year 3 years in Y81-Y82, Y83-Y84, Y84-Y85

05 - John Allen
Position: Rightback
Age: 31
Clubs:
Y69-Y71 - Atletico de Myrian Norte (defunct)
Y71-Y77 - Bordial F.C
Y72-Y73 - Portsmouth (loan)
Y73-Y74 - Shipton (loan)
Y77-Y80 - Kalos Square F.C.
Y80-Y81 - Bordial F.C.
Y81- Tribeca

John Allen started his career at the former New Bordian League System club Atletico de Myrian Norte where upon disbanding in Y71, he signed with Bordial F.C. at the age of 17. After not receiving much playing time in his first season, he was sent out on loan to Portsmouth and Shipton, where in Shipton he was a nominee for League Two Defender of the Year at the age of 19. Upon returning to Bordial F.C., he became a squad rotation player until in the Y76-Y77 season he was solidified as the starter rightback and was a upsetting winner for Defender of the Year in his 1st nomination. Allen was later sold to Kalos Square F.C. at the age of 23 where he received nominations for defender of the year during his playtime. Kalos Square later sold Allen back to Bordial F.C. due to their dire need of a rightback. In his Y80-Y81 season, Allen led Bordial F.C. to the Premier League title. Afterwards, he was picked up by emerging team Tribeca at age 27 where he immediately became the team captain. Allen is currently the team captain of both Tribeca and the New Bordial National Team.

13 - Ambre Oyne
Position: CB
Age: 26
Clubs:
Y74-Y76 - Jasenwolves
Y76-Y77 - Sadhampton
Y77-Y81 - Vasenshir
Y79-Y80 - Marshlands F.C. (loan)
Y80-Y81 - Frogolem (loan)
Y81-Y82 - Frogolem
Y81-Y82 - Sadhampton (loan)
Y82- Sadhampton

Ambre Oyne was promoted from the prestigious Jasenwolves academy at the age of 15 and played 2 years with the first team before being transferred to Sadhampton. In his one year at Sadhampton, Ambre Oyne's status as a promising player was established when he received the League II Defender Award after a narrow vote at the age of 17. As a result, Vasenshir bought Oyne. However, Oyne struggled to make the same impact that he did at Sadhampton. As a result, from the years of Y79-Y81 he was sent on loan to improve development. However, developmental progress was unsatisfactory leading to Frogolem to buy him contract from Vasenshir. Oyne was immedaitely sent on loan to Sadhampton. Following the end of his 1-year contract at Frogolem, Oyne signed with Sadhampton on a free transfer where he won League II Defender of the Year on his passage to becoming a key member and captain of the newly promoted mid-table Premier League club Sadhampton.

14 - Giovanni Vasquez
Position: CB
Age: 33
Clubs:
Y71-Y79 - Vindel
Y71-Y73 - North End Pandas (loan)
Y79-Y81 - Vasenshir
Y81-Y85 - Frogolem
Y85- Kalos Square F.C.

Vasquez was a late signing for Vindel at the age of 19 following the dissolution of his youth team, Atletico de Myrian Norte, academy. Vasquez was sent on loan to North End Pandas where upon return in Y73 at the age of 21, Vasquez became a strong enough player to start with Vindel and did so for his next few years at the club through the age of 27. Vasquez later joined Vasenshir on free transfer in Y79 where he increases his nomination amount for Defender of the Year to a record 5 nominees. Vasquez left Vasenshir after unfavorable contract terms with mututal consent and later signed with Frogolem. Vasquez played with Frogolem past his prime until he signed with Kalos Square F.C. at the start of this season at the age of 33 upon the end of his contract. Kalos Square F.C. hopes Vasquez will be the key to ensuring their promotion to the Premier League.

16 - Crystal
Position: Rightback
Age: 22
Clubs:
Y80-Y83 - Brezner
Y83- Silverback F.C.

Crystal at the age of 17 immediately became a starting member of Brezner's premier league squad. Brezner still was relegated to League II in the Y82-Y83 season. However, Crystal was noted as "the most promising defender" by the league chairperson. Silverback F.C. took advantage of Brezner's relegation by offering a transfer for Crystal which was accepeted by Brezner. Crystal became a sporadic team member for Vasenshir until the injury of their starting rightback later that season where he quickly established himself as a starting player.

23 - Niko Re
Position: LB
Age: 28
Y74- Vasenshir
Y74-Y75 - Cresnel (loan)
Y75-Y78 - East Myrian (loan)

Niko Re has spent all of his career at Vasenshir, apart from two loans at the start of his career. At the age of 17, Niko Re was immedaitely sent out on loan to League II side Cresnel where he became a nominee of League II Defender of the Year. Re was later given a loan opportunity following this at Premier League club East Myrian where he easily became a starter. In Y78, he returned to Vasenshir with a spot in the starting lineup due to his loan experinces. In Y81, Re gained some competition for the Leftback spot following the signing of JoonHae, but this competition was short lived as the starting leftback national team emerged victorious. Re performance began to drop off after the Y81-Y82 season. Re failed to improve much but has still managed to maintain his position as a national team member and starter for Vasenshir

Stillwater, SELTIK - The time has come. The time has finally come. It has stirred up waves of excitement, chatter, and even anxiety amongst the small population of Seltik, eagerly and ardently waiting for the 57th Baptism of Fire, where sixteen Selticians, along with players from 44 other nations, would all fight for the trophy. However, earlier, the group draw for the tournament was announced - and things don't look good for the Emerald Horsemen. French Louisiana, the United States of Devonta, Estenia, and Kingston-Atlantis are the four groupmates of Seltik, whose task of advancing through Group C with such adversaries seemingly enormous. Analysts believe that Seltik will finish third in Group C, behind the United States of Devonta and Estenia, but the Emerald Horsemen are still believed to have a chance of finishing in second place, which would grant them a berth in the Round of 16. An in-depth examination of Seltik's four groupmates can be found below.

Image The United States of Devonta - Favorites to advance, the United States of Devonta will be Seltik's first opponent in the tournament, and probably the most challenging one. With a tendency to attack a bit more than defend, the Devontans will not fail to impress on the field, with the likes of Gerald Van Johansen and Lamar Adams leading the offense, and Martin Benton, Johnson Brooks, and Daniel Kindred leading the defense. Coached by Christopher Mendez, this formidable team will be facing the Emerald Horsemen at the Beckwith Memorial Stadium, where analysts predict a 2-2 draw will occur.

Image Kingston-Atlantis - Located in the region of Eos, the Klingonians (yes, that's their demonym) have yet to reveal a roster, so we can't tell you much about them, except for the fact that analysts, without the guidance of an official roster, are taking a wild guess in "predicting" that the Selticians will win the match by two goals. The Klingonians will be the Emerald Horsemen's second opponent, and will affront each other at Warrah Park, located in Stanley, Isle Falkland.

Image Estenia - Another formidable team that will threaten to pose a great challenge towards the Selticians, the Estenians will be a force to be reckoned with. Coached by Yuri Nazarenkov, the Estenian team plays in a 4-3-1-2 similar to the Seltician 4-3-2-1, and is mostly made of players of Jelle FC, a strong team native to Estenia that reached the playoffs of the 53rd Globe Cup, and others playing in other foreign leagues. Despite their dangerous potential calibre, analysts expect the Emerald Horsemen to beat the Estenians by one or two goals. The Estenians will be the Horsemen's third opponent, and the two sides will face each other at Poseidon's Palace, located in Port Salvador, Isle Regio.

Image French Louisana - Unfortunately, like Kingston-Atlantis, the French Louisanans have not released an official roster yet, so we can't give you any details regarding their team. However, also like the Klingonians, for the fun, analysts decided to take a wild guess in "predicting" another 2-0 win against this team. The French Louisanans will be the Selticians' fourth and final opponent, and will face each other at the Oakhurst Arena, located in Setter, Isle Oakhurst.

The Seltician Team

as aforementioned, play in a 4-3-2-1 formation.

A pie chart showing the predictions of different analysts
on the fate of the Emerald Horsemen in Group C.
A team mostly made of players playing locally or elsewhere in the Darvalian Union, the Seltician team is one with frequent tendencies to launch offensive operations on the opposing team (especially the midfielders and forwards), almost always preferring to test the opposing defense than provide support for their own team's defense.

On this team's starting eleven, the 4-3-2-1 formation it plays in makes every player a crucial member of the team, with each one of them having a specific job that they, for the most part, succeed to fulfill. We'll give you a short description of a few notable Seltician players below, as well as predictions for the Selticians' performance in Group C.

Jaime Lamb - Despite his rather young age, Jaime Lamb is a rising star in Seltician football. Lamb is an especially pacy defensive midfielder, and can aid the rest of the team's midfielders in offensive operations, but can also participate in defensive operations with the defense. Alternatively, Lamb, with his speediness, can play on both the left, and the right wing. Nicknamed "The Seer", Lamb currently plays for Athletic Teviera, a team in the Darvalian First League, and is the current captain of the national side.

Harry Harmon - At 22 years of age, Harry Harmon is best described as a tough, solid, yet agile and swift winger, that has given him the reputation of being an overall excellent winger, and a crucial member of the team. Harmon, besides being an excellent winger, is also known for his amazing passing and crossing skills. He currently plays for Ardross Football, a club native to Seltik.

Felix Swindlehurst - Felix Swindlehurst is undoubtedly one of the best defenders Seltik has ever produced. Swindlehurst originally played as a central midfielder, but, upon recruitment to the national side, was put back into the defense. Swindlehurst currently plays for Aveport FC, a team in the Darvalian First League, and, like the rest of the defenders on the team, is a defensive anchor, never opting to go too far out from the box.

Devon Surrey - An aspiring 29 year old, Devon Surrey is the only member of the Seltician starting eleven to play for Brownsmills FC, a club native to Seltik. One of the two attacking midfielders, Surrey's main job is to cover and guide central striker David Dunn towards the opposing box, although Surrey sometimes is able to score from a distance, as he is also the free kick taker of the team, and has a special knack for long distance shots.

As shown in the pie chart above, analysts' predictions for the Emerald Horsemen's performance in Group C vary, but a combined total of 72% of the predictions have indicated that Seltik will advance through Group C, and into the Round of 16. A total of 23% of these votes indicated that Seltik would in fact top Group C, but a grand majority of 49% believed that the Selticians would finish in second place, but still advance.

Lucy Shanrek and her two daughters Arda and Kaide were currently in Mishawaka International Airport, which they were sharing with the friends and family of the other Gylian national team's players. It was once again to see Arda off for a time so that she would help represent Gylias at some football tournament, but this time it would be a longer flight, to a country none of them were aware existed until it had been announced as the host of the Baptism of Fire. When Arda had returned with the news that the Gylian national team was about to set off for Québec, Lucy's first thought had been, "Baptism of Fire"? Really? Couldn't they come up with a better name? Oh, for Esala's sake, it's only football.

"Well...", Arda began to say. "Guess this is where we part for two weeks."

Lucy nodded. "It's a great shame you won't be able to join us for the start of the Autunno Racculto, darling."

Arda lightheartedly waved her hand. "Oh, don't worry, mum, it's not a big deal, I'm still making it back in the second week, no? It's fine." She then gave them a playful smirk before adding, "Besides, that way I don't have to wake up absurdly early to catch the airship, haha!"

Arda's younger sister, Kaide, jokingly pouted and punched her in the arm, before cracking up and laughing. "Joke's on you, we get the airship, you get the plane!"

"Oof, just had to rub it in, didn't you?~", Arda replied.

Lucy winked. "It's Kaide's way of trying to stop themself from clinging to your leg and pouting about you leaving, hehe."

Arda laughed and looked at Kaide. "Well, I would try playing like that if that makes you feel better, but I don't think it's in our budget this year to buy that much protective gear for you. Not to mention, you'd technically count as another player and put us over the limit, haha!"

Kaide placed her hands on her hips and stood proudly. "Heh, well, in that case I guess I'd better take the usual route of training really hard and applying for the team!"

"Oh, did I just hear something about applications?♪", a voice called out from behind.

Lucy, Arda and Kaide all turned to the direction it came from, and were pleased to find it was the team's coach, Sarna Dyrvedz, looking stylish as ever. Arda waved and greeted, "Hi Sarna!"

"Hi Arda~", Sarna replied and raised her hand in front of her chest to wave as well. She did this mainly to humour Arda, since they were within only a few centimetres of each other so it's not like there was a great need to wave. "And hello, Lucy and Kaide.", she added, turning to Arda's mother and sister. "It's always a pleasure to see you."

Lucy smiled and nodded in response, with Kaide also looking delighted by Sarna's compliment. "The same with you, Sarna. I'd have offered you a cup of tea, but you're not visiting us at home...", Lucy said.

Sarna giggled softly. "Thank you very much, Lucy, that's greatly appreciated. How about we do that when we return? We can all enjoy some Cacertian tea once this is all over."

"Mhm!", Kaide said, giving a thumbs up. The sight caused Lucy to chuckle, and she added, "The all-important vote of confidence is won! It's settled then, meet-up in two weeks?"

Sarna nodded and shook hands with Lucy. "I look forward to it greatly." She then turned and approached Arda, placing a hand on her shoulder, and said, "Now, Arda, we'd better get going then, shall we? Flight's about to start boarding..."

"Sure!", Arda replied, as she hoisted her bag of sports luggage over her other shoulder and began walking along with Sarna towards the reception.

After they received their boarding passes, the team's players looked back to the crowd of friends and family that had gathered to see them off, and waved as they walked into the boarding area.

Tactics and Predictions - 29/9/2014 John Llana

THE SARIAN -- As we get ready for the opening ceremony for Baptism of Fire 57, we look now to predict tactics and how teams will fare in Somstratzka's group. First we will talk about the tactics.

It looks likely that Xavier Chan will be using the 4-1-2-1-2 formation with Gareth Bail sending the ball between the defence and the attack. Playing for Swanstad Starx, this idea has worked superbly as you may have seen Swanstad Starx coolly finish off Los Blancos United in the cup using this tactic. On a rating from -5 to 5 for defence and attack, we are expecting the team to have a average of 1 as the team works based on balance. Defenders tend to stay in their own half while Gareth Bail and forward tend to push on up and away. We should be seeing similar tactics in this tournament unless Xavier Chan sees it's time to mix it up a bit.

Now onto the interesting part, who will proceed to the knockout stages.

For the group, there is currently no favourite. Somstratzka is fancying it's chances in the competition. Somstratzka's first match will be against Wolfbenz. It will be make or break for the Somstratzkan team because if they beat Wolfbenz, the win should leapfrog their morale. Realistically, we believe that Somstratzka will miss out on a place in the knockout stages by the skin of their teeth but it would be a good lesson for the upcoming World Cup.

Xavier Chan walked through a beautiful park near the team's hotel in The Sarian. Tomorrow they would leave early to trek in the mountains for final preparation and the day before the match against Wolfbenz they would have a training session at a field in The Sarian. He was content with himself. He had fully planned out their training and what should happen. As he exited the park he was met by many Somstratzkan's visiting asking for his autograph. They then cheered for him as he walked back into the hotel. He felt relief as he entered the peaceful hotel away from the Somstratzkan team's many supporters. Even though it was good to have them, they could be a nuisance.

As he lay on his bed he thought about what he could find in The Sarian. A girlfriend perhaps. He was only 24, one of the youngest managers in the world but clearly a great tactician. He thought to himself,

I am pretty sure there would be many girls who would want to be my wife but it would mainly be for my good looks and money I guess. I just want someone who likes me for my personality, not what is on the outside.

He got out some coconut wine brought from Somstratzka and drank a glass. He decided, he would go out for a stroll. Who knows, he might just meet the person he has been waiting for his whole life.

A player's Journal

Part of: Time to shock the World

Nazarenkov was alone at his room and everyone was having a night sleep, he ws awake and started writing in his beautiful red-paged journal.

Wednesday, 29th October 2014

Today we trained harder than the other days, we trained 2 hours more and I still want to train not sleep, today I scored another 80 metre shot to Maksimov, this person needs better keeping I tell you, I think by doing his mistakes without a girl I saw him watching like an idiot lately. She gives him power to good keping, I think we will need her for every match, I think I was at university with her, Sarianna her name, she is a gymnastics athlete, she is very good at her sport. I remember her because of the beauty and by the way I was the only boy in class that wasn't in love with her and was hanging out with her, yet again everyone said that I was very lucky even hanging out with her and everyone said that she was my girlfriend but i disagreed with them and told them that she wasn't my girlfriend, anyway, tommorow I am going to tell Maksimov that I know this girl and every secret, he'll be stunned, I think I'm going to tell him while he is sitting to jump out of the chair. Finally tommorow my girlfriend's coming, I can't wait till I kiss her beautiful lips and see her beautiful face, that's all I have to tell you, I miss her. But tommorow's my lucky day, yay! Maybe. I think this tournament will be on our side with me and Maksimov on form. I hope that Adrianov andMakarov and Makareshi do the Jarov Plan well. Thanks! Goodnight!
