Finals, game 5 Preview

It has only been one month since the World Bowl final (or World Bowl, if you want). The scars from that tournament have only healed slightly... and here we are again. 2-2 in the IBC, so one more decisive game to decide which team takes the trophy home this time. And it's against Saintland again. We lost 24-6 to them in the World Bowl, after winning every single game before that (10 of them). For the IBC, we dropped a game early in the tournament, and since that we went unbeaten until game 2 of the final series... and now we're even up to three losses. Saintland looked like they could fly out of the tournament at any stage, dropping a game every knockout round except for the semis. And maybe that's why they are looking so strong now... they have nothing to lose. And choking is something we are good at. World Cup of field hockey? We won every single game up until the final. Which we lost. We never got this far in basketball before, so we can't really say, but we're still hoping for a win, after our club teams have shown they can win under pressure at least. Let's not choke this time. We had a Trophy of Champions one season ago, and a semifinalist in this season. We've had two Falcon Plates in the last three seasons. If anything, we know we don't have to go down because of stress and the general choking thing we do.

If anything, the Ko-orenite wins in the finals don't look that impressive. An eight-point lead over the Sanctii and a 69-70 buzzer beater, while Saintland wins have been by 13 points and 18 points. For the last game... is it going to be Ko-orenite consistency and defence, and always scoring at least around 70 points? Or is it the superiour Sanctii offence, relying on a few games but winning those by a huge distance?

Saintland 70–78 Ko-oren

Saintland 92–79 Ko-oren

Saintland 69–70 Ko-oren

Saintland 85–67 Ko-oren

The final cutoff of IBC 15 is now upon us. Will Saintland repeat as champions? Or will Ko-oren snatch an improbable victory to deny the Sanctii their title?
Find out ... now.
