Medals won in swimming, weightlifting, shooting

HARTLY, AININ - Day 1 of the Esquarian Games in Hartly, Ainin has seen great advances made by the Namorese team. In only one day, Namorese athletes won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal, putting it on #2 of the medal count list after Britanno, which won the same number of gold medals but has more silver medals than Namor (which currently has none).
In streets of cities nationwide, Namorese are watching the Esquarian Games live, with much excitement for the action packed as well as for their athletes. The thrill brought by the three medals led to many cheering wildly, waving the Gukchi and singing the national anthem as the awards ceremony took place. It is anticipated that as the Esquarian Games continue, and the Namorese continue to do their best, more will be attracted to see the Games unfold from their television screens.
The performance of Namorese athletes are focused here today.
Tzo Jing (shooting) won bronze in the 10m air pistol
Boxing
In the Men's Bantamweight Boxing, Namorese boxer Wangchang Jen knocked out Caucasia's Desmond Yotaman. That's all there is to say here. Whether Wangchang can keep up his decent show in the next round is something time can only tell.
Most Namorese spectators are surprised that Namorese athletes can go this far in boxing.
Baseball - Day 1
The Namorese baseball team was defeated by that of the Nihilistic View, not being able to get any home runs in all nine innings. Although the Nihilistic View's team is considered just as mediocre, they managed to sneak one point in the 2nd, 4th and 6th innings, leading to them defeating Namor 3-0. This brings Namor on the bottom of the Group C list.
Football - Day 2
Another defeat for the Namorese men's football team. In a faceoff with Orientalia, Namor lost 0-2 to Orientalia. Like baseball, Namor is ranked last in Group D. Some say that this is a humiliating scene---Unolia and Luziyca are in the same group, and they are way ahead of the Namorese; however, the truth is that only foreigners play football, so who cares about football, really?
But here's the "better" news---the women's team tied with the Tarcticans, whose team is badly funded thanks to the country's anarchic situation. But Namor is on the bottom of Group C in women's football.
Both teams were unable to score a single goal. No surprise, and this is coming from a Namorese sports commentator.
No facepalm needed though. Who cares about football?
Gymnastics Preliminary Round - Men's Individual
An embarrassing start for the god-tier Namorese gymnastics team. Jeff Caldwell of Ainin is unexpectedly leading the round. Namor's Dong Hua is tied with Crolacia's Daniel Paskal in fourth; both Sing Sang and Txo Mang are tied for ninth; Chen Men is in 30th place, tied with Luziyca's Zitomir Brodszky. Both Elo Si and Aksa Kudesi were eliminated.
Men's Shooting
This is where Namor won its first bronze medal in the Games. In the qualification round, Tzo Jing scored a total of 578 points, putting him behind Fabian Belamy of Kastiya and Ainin's Michael Hunt. The 10m Air Pistol Final resulted in Belamy taking gold, Hunt taking silver, and Tzo taking bronze.
Tzo says he is satisfied with his medal, but adds that he could have done better.
"There is room for improvement," he told PTH.
Swimming
Namor's Miko Sangjan initially did rather well in the 100m Breaststroke Qualification with a time of 1 minute and 1 second, but fell short in the final round, when he turned out dead last with a time of 1:01:99. As a result, Miko ended up winning nothing in men's breaststroke.
"We have to be honest with ourselves and what we got," Miko said.
(From left to right): Lang Tzu, Peng Gladys, Youja Kana
and Tam Yang, the four Namorese who won Namor's first gold medal
But here's news that good for the ear and soul to hear---the women's team was able to put up a glorious show for the Namorese team, winning the first gold medal for Namor. In the women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay, the Namorese relay team won gold, while North Daecon got silver and Caucasia won bronze. Tam Yang and Lang Tzu dived into the pool first, and while the race was fierce and Lang almost fell short when she almost reached the finish, Peng Gladys jumped in and turned the tide for the team, separating her from the other swimmers. And when Kana jumped in and swam, it was over for everyone else; Namor had won a gold medal in the relay with a time of 3:37.83.
News of the Namorese victory was met with crazy excitement among Namorese fans, all of them astonished and happy to see their country win the first gold in the Hartly Gold Rush in only a short amount of time.
"You know, this was quite well-deserved," said team captain Youja Kana, panting once after she did the final lap in the relay. "We worked hard, we worked together, and this is what we get. We had our eyes set on this."
Tennis
In women's tennis singles, the Namorese played against each other. Na Selin ended up eliminating fellow rival Gong Haivang.
Volleyball
In Day 1 of Indoor Volleyball, the Namorese men's volleyball team tried to even things out with the Michillians, known for their expertise in volleyball, both indoor and beach. Yet ultimately Michillies defeated Namor in all three sets, tying Namor with Luziyca for last in Group B.
Moving on to beach volleyball, the women's pair Shenwo Nakume and Jiao Chen lost 13-21 to Unolians Conla Stanson and Lila Oh in the first match, and 18-21 in the second match. This makes the Namorese tied with the Aininians in Group D for now.
Weightlifting
Another moment of glory for Namor as Ya Ruo took the second gold the team has acquired in Hartly in the Women's 48kg weightlifting. She narrowly defeated Vyvland's Ahaga Unjrebruj and Luziyca's Slavica Vilenkin. The red can be seen on Luziyca's face as The Constitution mentioned only Slavica, but not Ya Ruo.
Once Chilipa, Namora (Namor's national anthem) was heard for yet the second time since the Games opened, many Namorese fans went wild. Some even hooted "Tuchilapa, Luzeyika (Тучилапа, Лузеджика; You mad, Luziyca)?" after the anthem was played, Ya saluted and walked off the podium with her gold medal. It was an insult quite entertaining to hear for anyone who had some steak against the Luzzies.
The Bottom Line
This is a day that will go down in Namor's history as a sporting power. Although the Hartly Games is not over yet, and the Namorese athletes still have a lot of medals to win, the fact that Namor has already won two gold medals and one bronze medal shows that this is no longer Brookopolis for our fans. With that, we finish the bottom line off wishing our athletes good luck as the Esquarian Games in Hartly continue.
