Beach Soccer in Darmen
Beach Soccer is officially Darmen's "National Sport". It is not however the most popular sport or even the country's official "National Football Code." Darmen made its Beach Soccer debut in Beach Cup III, where they were met with almost immediate success, winning their Group and making it as far as the Quarterfinals. Thereafter, Darmen has finished third (BC 6), fourth (BC 4), bowed out in the Quarterfinals (BC 5 & BC 9), reached the Round of Sixteen but gotten no further (BC 7), and even failed to get out of the Group stage (BC 8). Darmen's lone hosting experience of the Beach Cup was its sixth edition.
Domestic Beach Soccer in Darmen has failed to gain much popularity, and only two seasons been completed, the latest results of which can be found here.
Further IC details will be provided should this bid win.
Format
By my count, we are currently up to 45 nations, and with a week still to go before the host bid deadline, and another week or so for voting, the number of sign-ups could exceed 60, which I believe would be a participation record for both the Beach Cup and any tournament I've previously hosted. So a few formats which may be used:
48 teams: 8 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
50 teams: 10 groups of 5, double round robin (8 matches), with the group winners and six best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
54 teams: 9 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the group winners and seven best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
56 teams: 8 groups of 7, double round robin (12 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
60 teams: 10 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the group winners and six best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
64 teams: 8 groups of 8, single round robin (7 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
Any format with 8 groups is my preferred format. If enough concerns are brought up about the length of the Group Stages/RP Burnout, I'm certainly fine with making the Group Stage single round robin. It should also be noted that all formats will have a mid-Group Stage break (the exception for this being the 64 team format), a break between the Group Stage and the Playoffs, and a Third Place Match.
