How to do well in this tournament
To do well in qualification, it is imperative that you RP so that you gain some of the qualification spots on offer. By simply posting a roleplay everday, you give yourself an extra advantage over all of the other nations -- it can be as simple as a match report, to a TV show to an interview or a fully fledged storyline. The possibilities are endless. Every day is a new opportunity to do well. It is important to note however, that just because you RP all the time does not mean that you are guaranteed to win, just that there is a higher chance of you winning. There is always a random chance that you won't win, so blame Margaret (we hear she loves rubber chickens) -- the goddess of chance if you have any problems.

Top Players

Sayra Simonian -Born to a wealthy family in South Vangaziland, Sayra is an exotic beauty. She has raven black hair and deep brown eyes. They call her 'The Panther' for her cat-like reflexes and fierce determination. At the age of 19, this is her first year on the Royals.

Hannes Hurcle -This former soldier is nicknamed 'The Hurc' or 'The Turtle'. He is 6'6 with a large scar across his face. The stoic expression that he wears reflects his style of no-nonsense play. He tackles hard and keeps the back line clean.

Mychelle Silsbee - Grace is this lady's middle name, or so they say. Her shots often sail from long distances. Sometimes she gets carried away with this, and misses often. She is still one of the Royal's top goalscorers. Silsbee is a natural-born, cool and calm, leader.

Jon Gudden - Gudden is a player whose focus is primarily on speed. He is famous for his online tutorials on the game and his basic style of attack. His mission is to run by you, feint the defenders and put shots on goal. He is the children's favorite.

Myke Panna - He is maybe the most exciting player to watch on the Vangaziland Royals. He prefers to use tricks to get past the back line and to get the crowd on edge. The havoc created by his fancy footwork reflects itself in his usually impressive goal tally.

Clinto Vurazzi - Clinto is the shortest member on the team. He has great leaping ability and good passing skills. Clinto is also the most educated person on the team, recently getting his masters at Vangaziland's prestigious Overglade University.

Ollo Fritjof - This man is known for his raw athleticism and finishing ability. He isn't the fastest, but he bodies his way through his opponents using positioning and strength. He is also the team's unofficial prankster.

CRESCENT NEWS NETWORK SPORTS CHANNEL
Featuring live broadcast of the 2014 Futsal World Cup Allied Omaha

"Hello, sports fans, and welcome to the Crescent News Network Sports Channel's coverage of the first ever Futsal World Cup, held right here in Allied Omaha! I'm Malik Qazizadah, and I am standing in front of the Crown Promenade Hotel, where all of the teams participating in the Futsal World Cup are being housed. Now, as all our viewers out there know, our very own Abanhfleft national futsal team just managed to scrape through to the World Cup after intense qualifying matches against our neighboring teams in the Antarctica region. Of course, no one can forget that fantastic goal scored by Jonas Taruc against Novo Zachlumia to put us through to the World Cup. Or how about that unbelievable save that Zack Clark made against Philippopolis City to keep us out of extra time and get us through to the Antarctica Finals? But enough about going down memory lane. What matters is that Abanhfleft has made it to the World Cup, and that's it. Now, in the next hour, we'll be looking at the history of futsal in Abanhfleft, and also we'll be doing an in-depth analysis of our own team, and after that we'll be taking a look at our situation in the group stage."

Futsal was introduced into Abanhfleft in the late 1980s, but forms of the game had already existed in the country since association football caught on in the country in 1910. But futsal never really caught on in Abanhfleft until 2008, when the Abanhfleft National Futsal League (ANFSL) was established. The Abanhfleft national futsal team was created a year after, recruiting the top players from the ten teams of the ANFSL to participate in the team. After a disappointing start in friendlies against neighbors, the Abanhfleft futsal team finally shone bright during the 2013 Antarctican Invitational Tournament, when Mauricio Emazagucci and Aros Abellesi, despite playing from rival teams in the national league, overcame the rivalry to team up and win the Invitational and Abanhfleft's first piece of futsal silverware.

"Up next, we'll be looking at the players on our team. And we'll get to that right after these messages."

OOC: Omaha, could you be so kind and link the Signups thread to the initial posting? Because rosters.

IC:
Siki Rej stumbled into the bright morning. The time difference was messing with his brain. The light seemed different. As if the light was difference at this latitude or as if there was less pollution in the air. He had had too much banana wine before the flight because it helps against flight anxiety and air sickness according to his family. It didn't. Instead, Siki probably had done a few things which would bite him into the ass once he would return to Rejistania. Including telling his old friend Syku Kiril how he really felt about him. It turned out that his mind just imagined him being homosexual as well as into him.

Kiven looked at Siki with a glance of discomfort and probably disgust. "Coach? Flight bad?"

Siki nodded. "Flight was bad and I am hung over."

That seleken dude with the insanely long name (Sijenemitelakiva) which he never could easily remember, let alone pronounce grinned: "Xanitali, we don't win this yet! No time to drink."

Siki grinned slightly in reply. Mostly because he found it funny how eagerly the seleken stuck to an agreement. When Siki asked him whether he was allowed to call him by a nickname, Sijenemitelakiva agreed under the condition that he was allowed to do the same. This was why Siki called Sijenemitelakiva Hsi and Sijenemitelakiva called Siki Xanitali. But while Siki tried to avoid using that name because he knew that the name of selekens is a point of pride, Hsi called him Xanitali at every occasion.

"Does anyone have a plan how late we are?" asked striker Ti.

"Not very." Siki didn't really know either and felt still rather jetlagged, but he knew that there had not been any significant delays.

The group was chatting as they made the trip to the hotel in something which looked like a dolmu (small bus) only in new and in seemingly a maintained state. Siki was amazed by the lack of rikshas and the complete and utter lack of cars which looked as if they were about to fall apart. It must have cost a lot to police these things off the roads. KaMaRi kali, the city he lived in, was a massive contrast between the glamorous and the quaint, between the extravagant and the makeshift. And these things often were directly next to each other. This is why for the young rejistani who left his home country for the first time, the first thought was not prosperity but purges when he failed to see these contrasts there.

"It is amazing, so this is how a first world country looks like!" Lixan shouted enthusiastically.

Sithan nodded: "Yes, this is how a country looks if the government puts its energy on helping people instead of lining its own pockets."

"I want to live in the first world!" Lixan exclaimed.

Siki shook his head. "Your home, your family, your roots, your soul. Risking them is risking who you are. I met many netenjus [migrant workers] who changed a lot, found themselves doing things just for making ends meet. The world is cruel and it is important to keep to your family."

Lixan looked suddenly quite a bit gloomy and Siki wondered whether he was too heavy handed. "I guess."

Siki decided to weaken his opinion a little: "Of course, there are many people who did make it work, but some are some which can't. If you do netenju, make sure you have a way back."

When the bus arrived at the hotel, the rejistanis were quite amazed by the the luxury. The day before the flight, they stayed in a hostel in one large room. The team was a team of amateurs and in the case of Siki Rej and Xijiskare San-Kie semiprofessionals, none of which were rich. The accomodations for the Xamjone'het [national cup] were for that reason quite cheap (among other things to allow to spend more money on banana wine and liquor). The communication with the hotel staff was slow, and marred by a language barrier. Siki's very rejistanily flavored English could not be understood by the staff while their much more native English confused the rejistanis who were used to the local patois. It was Hitxan who saved the day by his fluency in Russian. Probably due to the fact that Russian had never formed a local patois in the former communist part of the country, it was much easier to understand.

When the team had eventually checked in and gotten a bit less confused about their surroundings, Siki Rejthought about his team. They were internationally inexperienced, spoke little to no English, were jetlagged as slani, but they were participating for their country and as Siki hoped, they could ride in on their dark horse status quite a bit.

Hotel

When the players arrived at the hotel, every Estenian cheered for them and waved the Estenian flag. The players were very excited about this Futsal World Cup and when they got in they were full of energy, even after 19 hours of flight. When they left their stuff they immediately gone to train, before the coach comes. At the time the coach arrived the players were excercising for half an hour. The coach told them to play a game to train their feet more because the very next day had a very important match, the first match of the groups, they had to win it to be sure that they will get to the next phase but also to scare their opponents. In the training they played decisively and they drawn 11-11. The coach was excited because, his players were going at the penalties for the first time after 2 years. The penalties finished 3-2 and the coach decided the first five of the next match. The players after the training washed themselves and put formal clotes because they went to their first press conference in Allied Omaha. The players weren't nervous and they did well on the interview. After the press conference, the players went to eat their dinner before going to sleep. When they ate the players went to sleep as all the coaches and the stuff.

The Rejistanis watched the first matches with dread and fear. These teams were extremely good and passion could only go so far. The Orange-Blues had a bye in this initial match and as such had been spared conceding a humiliating amount of goals just yet. This would not be a pleasant affair. After the matches, the Rejistani went into his room and locked the door. He saw no way how the rejistanian lasane could defeat any of these teams. When the phone in his room rang, Siki answered it out of obligation and reflex instead of consideration. "-i-?" The absolute abbreviation of "hejida" indicates that he was in no mood to talk.

"-i- back, it's Jita Sarune here," the voice from the phone sounded as if routine and forced coolness were hiding panic.

"Jita who?" Siki asked annoyed, suspecting either a scammer or someone from his extended family.

"Jita Sarune Kenativa'tes, though I think you still know me as Jita Kelix Kenativa'tes. We were classmates. Exkola Hank~hila Sede, grade 7 iji"

He actually did have a classmate with that name. An over-eager person from richer heritage who got on everyone's nerves and wanted to be a journalist. "I remember you, you were the one who confused Majuveda and Majukaji in the finals."

"Yep, excatly that person. I heard you did not study at all for the final exam because your team won the youth league the day before?"

Siki grinned about that. "Yeah, I mean, no one expected us to win, we needed a 11 goal difference and so I thought, okay, we are going to play that, mourn what could have been and then I study... well, who could imagine that half of their team had the flu and the team was in a rather bad form. Plus they hated Sikimali just as much as we did. So, when the match ended, we were ahead 14:2. Pretty sure, no studying was done at that time."

"Well, but what about the time before?"

"Why should I study on a night which is not before the final exam. All the stuff has been purged by the end of the next day..."

"You seriously did not care!" Jita's voice had a bit of admiration in it.

"Yep. But I am sure you are not calling to talk about exams."

"Indeed. I want to ask you a few questions. For the Sikenian Daily."

"The Sikenian Daily? Wow. Quite a gig. Sure, go ahead."

"How do you see your chances in the competition?"

"Nonexistant. Have you seen any of these matches? These teams are well trained and disciplined and organized and funded. We are maybe one of these..."

"You are a pessimist?"

"Only when it is required."

"Do you think that your pessimism will have an effect on the matches?"

"I guess so, sure. If the mental state is that we have no pressure, we might not get our minds in a twist so we don't falter. If the match is expected to be a high loss - or even a shallow one, a draw the the world."

"Doesn't it make people resignated?"

"It shouldn't. If it does, you are doing it wrong."

"But... the Sikenian Daily had assumed you were favorites."

"Oh well, explains why they are not here but I am."

"What are you implying?"

"That an expert is someone who explains on Friday why a team is going to win and on Monday why they lost." Siki grinned.

"You're sense of humour is impeccable." Jita commented ironically.

"Your joke about us winning this all was better!" Siki replied deadpanly.

For some odd reason, this caused Jita to suddenly change his demeanor. "Siki, don't be so hostile to me. This is not a game anymore. I need your cooperation here. The Sikenian Daily is not keen on its sport part as the people deem it as low-brow. I fucked up recently and instead of sacking me, they put me into the sport resort. If I fuck up here, I will get fired... But I know very little about the subject. You must help me out!"

"You tattled on me back then so often that it was not funny and now you want help of any kind?"

"I want you to give inside information on your team, yes."

"I want you to zork. I provided you the courtesy, which I extend to a general human being, but I go no step further."

"You will see what this will get you!"

Somehow Vangaziland had gotten screwed into losing in the worst way of Match Day 1. In the world of sports, these things happen and Vangaziland would regroup and try again. One of the problems is that the defender, Hannes Hurcle had gotten a yellow card. His performance was uncharacteristcially poor. Officially, he was quoted as saying he had the flu. However some believe he may have went out partying the night before and was hungover.

The midfielders/wingers had a hard time getting back on defense. The opposing team was just a little quicker. They blamed their lack of goal scoring on the lack of clearing. With the card, Hurcle was knd of playing handicapped. He was more timid than usual.

The brightest moment of the game was Myke Panna's goal. He was fed a lovely through ball from Captain Mychelle Silsbee. When asked about it, Panna said the one goal didn't mean much. They got beat fair and square. It was really unfortunate that their goals for/against tally was already wrecked.

All they could do would be to try harder and wish for better luck next game..

Tight shave in game one

Huzzah said coach Teo as his squad won there first game, the ga,e cam edown to the wire as Cro Įliza snuck in the final goal to win. The team now stratagizes for the mext game, and works at imporving in early scoring, with that, the team may be a force to be reckond with, who knows, they've only played one game so far and annything is possible.

There alright, but they need to keep the ball away from there half, I was at the game and the ohter sides half was pretty well untouched for the most part.

I would have to disagree, ashes, the team kept the ball away pretty good on the second half, and they won so it doen't matter.

Oh, but it does, the teams that make the later stages will be good, and if the Wolfenian team gets there, then the Woflenian team needs to be at the top of there game, as such, there weakness (they do have it, just look at the first half) must be adresssed in order for the team to compete.

Draw on the Debut

That was the first sentence that the coach said. He also said that the team may reach further in the tournament only if they win the last 2 teams. Let's see his words at the whole press conference.

In the start he was asked how did he feel about that draw. He answered.

I feel that we should start training more because our opponents will be harder, day after day. If we are lucky and beat the other 2 teams I will feel very well.

After they asked him how to fix that problem. He answered.

There was a problem between Feliks Antonov and Nikita Makarov, I will replace them in the next game with Yuri Maximov and Grigory Arshavin.

After they asked him what was the formation in the next game. He answered.

I will make a 2-1-1 formation which I think it's pretty good because we saw the problems on the defence in the last game, we are lucky to have good keepers like Aleksy Yefimov and good Midfielders and Attackers that returned to the defence like Filipp Dursimov and Feliks Soosaar.

After they asked him, who's his favourite for captain in the next game. He answered.

Filipp Dursimov will be the captain of the next game, he was very good at all position, he gaved an assist, he saved us from 2 great shots and he was generally doing all the hard work.

After they asked him how the keeper was so good. He answered.

He's in form lately possibly due to good training from his goalkeeping coach.

After he finished the conversation with a.

Goodbye.

The team came onto the pitch not with a sense of dread but sich a sense of the inevitable. Dread is what happens in relegation matches or other things of utmost importance, and it makes you make mistakes. This was different, the team went into the match with low expectations and and a sense of It can only get better. Which it did. The Lasane had the disadvantage of their low height, but they were fast and fearless. In the end, the score was an impossible 4:2 coming back from a 1:2 at half time. The Rejistanis were elated. As were the few Rejistani fans who attended. The United Region took an early lead when defending was sloppily and allowed a United Region attack. Bulit'he*'s shot could not be caught by keeper Kansu'he. Rejistania's Defense was tested repeatedly by the United Players, but the squirrely defenders made life hard and kept the score down. But even the similarities between Saleji'he and Hiska'he with some rodents did not help the team when they were outsmarted and outplayed by the Rekijonalists** for a 0:2 and Rano'he gotten his name on the scoreboard. Just seconds before the whistle for the end of the first half, a counter attack by the Orange-Blues halfed the lead. It was the first good chance of the Rejistanis in this match. Goalie Patwon'he managed to stop the ball in the attack but it bounced out of his grasp and onto San-Kie'he who reacted instinctively. The Orange-Blues made it to a 1:2.

The Orange-Blues returned with a more attacking mindset and the game shifted, The tani had not been as completely outclassed as they feared and this gave them much more confidence. The typical "Sidekhir, sidekhir, lasane mi'sidekhir!"*** chants were heard when Y'he got his name on the scoreboard after a corner. The tani actually took took the lead when the Isesian**** striker again had a chance to exploit a defensive error. The final score was reached when substitute Tijihakasamakaratela'he put one past the goalie. The rejistanian fans cheered and United Regions fans as well as the stadion technicians were displeased. The long seleken name which means "the sun shines on the palaces and the huts equally" made the scoreboard crash and only when they wrote Hsi instead, it actually worked. Because traditional Seleken names are given by the priests supposedly by divine guidance, as such shortening the name of a seleken without permission is considered an offense similar to an outstretched middle finger. However, Tijihakasamakaratela'he did not care. In the press conference after the matchm when asked about this incident he said: "Haaa, is more important get on there. Coach Xanitali calls me Hsi as well."

Rejistania 4 (San-Kie'he, Y'he, Tijihakasamakaratela'he)
The United Regions 2 (Bulit'he, Rano'he)

* OOC: I generally rejistanize foreign names in so far as if I only use the last name, I add the suffic 'he. So Julio Cesar would be Cesar'he. this is purely for the sake of consistency with rejistanian names. In Rejistanian, first and last names look alike so just saying Kansu could be ambiguous.

** OOC: Rekijonalism seems to be a very similar ideology to the one of UR, so this term.

*** This is a bit bad to translate 'sidejhir X means "to reach X", but the intransitive useage has gained the denotation of "to succeed" in certain circumstances. Also, even though this looks like it is in the present tense, it is the case of tensemarkers being optional. In situations with two syllable teams like Sike, it turns to mi'ki'sidekhir. showing the future tense marker. As such the best way of translating this chant would be: "Success, success, the team will succeed/go through group stage."

ABANHFLEFT ROUTS AHTONLAND IN 4-1 VICTORY AT WORLD CUP GROUP STAGE
By Malik Qazizadah

The Abanhfleft national futsal team exceeded all expectation today as they trashed their opponents, Ahtonland, by 4 goals to 1. Kahaan Kazzblassart was voted man of the match for scoring a brace in the match, and providing assist to his teammates to put Abanhfleft on top of Group A.

Abanhfleft started off slow, a different team from the one that triumphed in the Antarctic Futsal Championship. Ahtonland put in a series of impressive attacks that forced equally impressive saves from the Fleftic keeper, Zack Clark, of Sporting Dorfdifving. Finally, six minutes into the first half, Vladimir Floros passed to Zdenko Mihajlovic, who slotted it strongly into the Fleftic net. Abanhfleft 0-1 Ahtonland. This early goal seemed to have galvanized the Fleftics, however, because as soon as play was resumed, Kahaan Kazzblassart emphatically kicked the ball into the opponent's goal, giving Abanhfleft the equalizer.

At the start of the second half, the attacking spirit seemed to have left Ahtonland and gone into Abanhfleft. Kazzblassart fired a shot on goal which was saved by the Ahtonland keeper, but the ball rebounded to Mauricio Emazagucci, who made a cheeky chip to put Abanhfleft ahead 2-1. As soon as he scored, Abanhfleft never looked back. A fancy passing play between Kazzblassart, Chuck Pulzazin, and Aros Abellesi bamboozled the defense, and when Kazzblassart went for goal, the keeper didn't even try to keep it out. Abanhfleft 3-1 Ahtonland.

In the last two minutes of the second half, Tim Muzzuth caught a lucky break and ran through the opponent's defenses and sent the ball through the goalie's legs, and Abanhfleft came away with a convincing 4-1 win in its first ever competitive match in the Futsal World Cup.

At the post-game press conference, coach Zepe Daddlerr praised both teams for their play in the game, but he did criticize Abanhfleft's slow start at the beginning. "It was pitiful play; absolutely no excuse," he said. "We didn't raise ourselves high enough after winning the Antarctic Championship, and it took a goal from the opponents to bring us back into the game."

Kahaan Kazzblassart also added his two cents during the conference. "We shouldn't be using the enemy to motivate ourselves into the game," he said. "It is our job to motivate ourselves. But the good thing was that we came back and got a convincing win."

Abanhfleft will be facing either Alwasi or Big Light in their next group game.

Of course the rejistanis celebrated after the match but Siki Rej kept it to a minimum because the next matches awaited. When Siki returned to his hotel room, he had a number of missed calls on the hotel phone, and only a few minutes later, just as Siki put away his shoes and removed his tie, someone called in again.

"-i-?" Siki asked.

"Hejida Siki!" It was the voice of that bastard of earlier.

"What do you want?" Siki asked angrily.

"So sorry for your loss. Must be hard to lose so badly."

"Zork off and choke on your voice! I am sure I can get a restraining order here! And learn to read a scoresheet."

"Oh, you might have won the battle against united regions, but the war goes to me. There has been a lot of corruption in the Asene... sekhika rejistaniha. Tomorrow, there will be a huge disclosure about the corruption in that soccer association. Especially in the Futsal program. It is delicious! So much delicious fail! I'd be surprised if your job still exists by the end of the tournament." he gloated.

"It will. Don't worry. But thanks for your consideration." Siki stated.

"Remain in your wonderful delusion. It must be so pleasant to just see what you want to see. Goodbye, Nowhere Man!" The line clicks, disconnects.

Siki Rej put the receiver onto the phone and started laughing. Yes, the ASR had a huge corruption issue. But thatwas exactly why the ASR did not participate in this tourney. Few people know that after the reunification with the communist island of Sumumusumu, the former state sports associations had united with the contral rejistanian ones. But as many Sumusumese programs were cut, an alternative association was founded, the Asene'het rejistaniha esuvortu xyan, the rejistanian amateur sport association. And just because ASR president Kansu Le KaMaRi'tes did not want people to be abroad when the suspects were arrested pretty much urged the AREX to apply for this tournament as the official association.

ESTENIA WON WITH THE SECOND

Our players won Free Swiss States with the score of 4-3 on a home match and they are second because they have a game less than Bongo Johnson. The coach's formation was very good as Estenian defenders were very good. Filipp Dursimov gave 2 assists and scored 2 goals which mad him the best player of the game. The goalkeeper Aleksy Yefimov was keeping his team safe but the 10 chances in 5 minutes tired him and they scored him 3 goals, the score was 2-3, Filipp then angered and did very well as he gave an assist and scored the winning goal. The keeper kept his team safe 12 times after the 17 Free Swiss chances. Estenians did 14 chances and their keeper kept the team safe most of the times. Of course Filipp was there to break his good game. Filipp is the assist leader of the team and the scorer of 2 goals.

OOC: Excuse the possible incoherence, you know, IRL, Germany won and I am German...

IC:
The kind of people who come to a Futsal match of a country like Rejistania in a different country are either dedicated, crazy or happened to be in the country anyways. In the case of Rejistania, it was a healthy dose of the latter as well as a dash of the most dedicated of the dedicated. This meant that the Rejistanis were greeted by a positive but rather quiet athmosphere. The Rejistanian lasane and the Titaniumlanders had a very even match in which both sides could not really do a lot against the attacks of the other. Titaniumland got an early lead due to Davidson'he completely declassing defenders Saleji'he and Hiska'he. The Titaiumlanders continued to attack the rejistanis hoping to extend the score further. Tehy did not have to wait for a long time. Davidson'he once again was able to capitalize from a misunderstanding in the defense. After a corner, Quota'he was in the right place at the right time and was able to extend it to a comfortable 3:0. There are matches that end that way. And there are Rejistanis who don't let them. Rej'he's team found better into the match and managed to prevent chances from being lethal to the scoreline and eventually they got the 3:1 in a quick counter. Goal scorer was the previously unimpressive San-Kie'he. The squirrely Ltianhamese* player was hungry for more though. Soon, San-Kie'he tried an optimistic shot from the distance which caught Prescott'he by surprise. The Rejistanis now were in the match not as cannon fodder but as contenders. Kansu'he caught a shot on the rejistanian goal and immediately initiated a counter attack. Y'he's shot past the Titaniumlander goalkeeper and the score was even again. It was Lixan Saleji who in the last monent of the first half was able to head the ball in the upper right corner of the goal.

The Rejistanian team found as badly into the second half as they did into the first. And after two great goals of Quota'he and Davidson'he, the lasane was down 5:4. But Siki Rej understood the slightly different approach and brought Kiven Kansu instead of Hiska'he. This made the defense a bit more steady and allowed the Lasane to create a few more chances. The only player with a pronouncable name, Y'he was able to profit from confusion and misunderstanding in the Titaniumlander defense. 5:5 was the score now. The Rejistanis found other chances and it was Kansu'he as well as later Y'he again to bring the score up to 5:7. Titaniumland, for the remaining few minutes of the game, tried to take back the draw but only reached the xkora kir, which was given a failure to fully take control of the ball and instead just deflecting it of the goalkeeper Sanit Kansu seen as own goal.

The Rejistanis are very happy with this scoreline and did not expect to be successful at all.

Titaniumland 6 (Davidson'he (3), Quota'he (2), S. Kansu (og))
Rejistania 7 (San-Kie'he (2), Y'he (3), Saleji'he, K. Kansu'he)

The Rejistanians were the 2nd in the group before the match against Vangaziland. They were third in the largest group afterwards. The defense was always their weakest point. Not only in the 13 goal goal-fest of the last time, but also in the first match and in various traning games. Siki Rej acknowledged this but had declared the current lineup with Saleji'he and Hiska'he what was possible right now, hoping it would suffice. Against Vangaziland, it didn't. A terribly vulnerable defense meant that the team conceded 4 goals in the 2:4 defeat and given that Vangaziland actually knew how a defense is supposed to work, only the Haritan Y'he was able to get his name up on the scoreboard. The Orange-Blues were outclassed. But the fans in what was either optimism, encouragement or sarcasm started to chant the XaTek* song. Siki Rej took the loss almost serene in the press conference. He explained that there are three kinds of matches: "upsets, close matches and matches where the scoreline is already clear before. When you are in the losing position in the last category, you need to take things gracefully. And then look into the future to see what can be made better in the next match."

On the quesiton whether the lasane saw any chance to get through, given that they are 3rd now by goal difference as tiebreaker, Siki Rej made a vague gesture and said: "That is the question of next match. We cannot know today."

* XaTek = xamjona tekne = world champion. The chant came from the qualifiers of the 9th NS world cup where the Orange-Blues were also outclassed. "Xen'la'aru lasane sejil / xen'la'xkora, 'la'viki venil / lasane'xen mi'jisu iln mesuva / tani'ta mi'veka alna / Xen['ki]'aru xamjona tekne, xamjona tekne - Rejis - Rejis- Rejis!" (We were a bad team but we scored and won despite that. Our team [will] defeat you highly, No country [will] be better. We will be world champions, united) Please note that Rejistanian can but does not have to indicate tense. As such even though large parts of the text are in the present tense, they are implied to refer to the future.

ABANHFLEFT MUST IMPROVE TO ADVANCE FURTHER, ACCORDING TO MANAGER
By Hideyoshi Hanamura

The Abanhfleft futsal team must improve its playing performance if it is to have any chance to go further in the Futsal World Cup.

So says manager Zepe Daddlerr during the post-game press conference following Abanhfleft's 4-0 defeat against Big Light. "This is no way for a team to win some silverware," he added. "We need to keep ourselves highly motivated, and not depend on last game's performance to cheer us up or bring us down."

Kahaan Kazzblassart, who was denied a chance by heavy marking by the opposition during last night's match, was equally disappointed with his team. "No winner has played like we have," he said. "We have to change our mentality or else we'll be eliminated ASAP."

Abanhfleft fell to second place in Group A after the defeat against Big Light.

OOC: what can I say, I have a lot of time on my wings atm.

Siki Rej and his lasane were training when the rejistani was told that there was an important call from his family for him (like all Rejistanis, he does not have a cellphone), he scurried off to take it.

"Hejida?" Siki answered the phone with dread in his voice. What if there was a family emergency?

"Hejida!" It was that voice again. That scumbag reporter. Jita Sarune.

"Do you know that you are a dirty person who fails in every endeavor? You aren't even in the real soccer association! You're in that AREX thing instead. Couldn't make it in the ASR, I guess."

"You know about the corruption of the ASR. I experienced a few too many matches about escaping relegation where goal difference mattered end double digit to nil. And any investigation as to why that is so never leads to any results or punishments."

"So double digit scorelines are unrealistic? That comes from the person whose proudest achievement is a 14:2."

"My proudest achiement is actually a 3:1 aggregate victory against TAHAI! in the XTSR. That was when I was with the H3SR club Maiju Yri. And this was the quarterfinals of the XTSR. I don't think being an XTSR semifinalist makes me a failure, especially given Yri held our semifinals opponent down to 0:1 aggregate despite them being H1SR. Only after retiring from semiprofessional sport, I decided to go for a less corrupt instance. That 14:2 is just a memorable match. Also, in a youth league, double digit scorelines are not really rare. Also, there was no agreement with that team. While they did field their reservists, this was not influenced by us in any way."

"It is so nice how you try to weasel out of things."

"I am not weaseling out of things, I try to explain things for a thick-skulled numbnut, who is unable to find his own ass even though his head is shoved up there deeply!!"

"What have you just said?"

"You know it just as well as I did."

"For me, it seemed as if you were weaseling out... " suddenly he stopped, "Who is there? Junri nami wa?" Suddenly, there were screams and then the line went dead.

While this should have been the end of it. This person wanted detailled help just because they somehow set him into the Sikenian Daily and because he had a nice sob story, then completely went off the rails when Siki told him to get lost and complately went off the rails. If now something happened to him, it must be karma. This person had always been a bully and a tattletale. But despite that, Siki Rej's conscience screamed, he called the police in Sike kali and explained the situation to them. While it sounded unbelievable to them at first, they did plan to look into the situation. Siki Rej left the number of his hotel and his landline number back in Rejistania and asked to be informed if anything came from this.

He returned to the team confused about what happened.
