Welcome to Esportiva, and welcome to The Royal Barangay! A record high of 72 teams will participate for 24 spots in the 24th edition of the World Cup of Hockey in the glorious nation. The teams will engage in a double round robin and those who advance will play a series of best of three games, except for the final series which is a best of five, to determine who will carry the coveted WCoH trophy, which is currently held by Gyatso-kai.

You may now post your rosters for the tournament. A roster should include information on players, coaching staff, venue information and RP permissions, which will be discussed later. This is an example of a good roster, posted by our WCoH Federation president. Please take note that NHL ice dimensions (see North America) are in effect, and the qualifying stage is a home-and-away, so venue information is crucial. Participants should also include their style modifiers (-5 to 5).

Regarding RP Permissions: It is imperative for a participant to check check if his/her opponent had posted an RP, to avoid possible retcon scenarios. Also, each participant is reminded to observe opponents' RP permissions, which each participant should include in their roster posts and should follow along these lines:

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose My Scorers: Yes/No
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes/No
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No

Participants can also add additional information on the bounds of RPing can their opponent write about, such as limiting injuries or telling their opponents to telegram them (particularly godmodding). Also take note that NHL fight rules are in effect.

THE ROYAL BARANGAY
NATION INFORMATION

What is The Royal Barangay?
The Royal Barangay is a nation that is located in southern Mardujsha in Esportiva. It is bordered by Ati Kaluraya in the west, Swyftherth in the East, the Licentian Channel in the southwest and a vast sea at south. The area north of the Royal Barangay, albeit yet to be inhabited, is in a state of strong border control. The nation is made up of a mainland, which houses most of its provinces and an island at the southeast called Isla Nespa, with three provinces on it.

The nation was a direct result of the assasination of then-Supremo Mazda Senina, apparently by the Gran Supremo himself Antonio Arias. He currently handles the peacekeeping aspects of the nation after months of turbulence, and some attempts of coup de etat and numerous assasination plots. As of today, these threats seemed to be now at bay, but Senina symphatizers, particularly at Isla Nespa, will look for lapses in security and strike at the least expected.

Upon hosting one of the most important tournaments in the region, the Komiteng Pampalakasan ng Maharlikang Barangay (KPMB) is tasked to coordinate with the Tropang Kasangga, the most advanced and skilled troops in the nation to maintain order in the duration of the tournament, particularly to the hotspot that is Isla Nespa.

Geography
Image
The map of The Royal Barangay

The Royal Barangay is divided into eight administrative regions, each with a regional center and many infrastractures. The capital, Sangti, is the smallest province in the nation, but is the center of the Barangayan government and also its financial backbone. Any disorder at the capital will paralyze operations so it is one of the heavily guarded places in the nation.

Image
Regional Map
Other places of importance are the Zalesgon International Airport, the Leonde Port, the San Mariano bridge and Isla Nespa. ZIA, the four-terminal airport is the gateway of The Royal Barangay from other places in the multiverse. It is one of three international airports (the others are Nuelma and Gabel, albeit serving only in a domestic capacity) serving The Royal Barangay. The Leonde Port is an important hub for shipping in Southern TRB, and is the main thoroughfare from the nation to its near neighbors Estope and The Licentian Isles. The San Mariano Bridge is a 4.2 km bridge that links Gabel and Isla Nespa. Like Sangti, it is also heavily guarded, as any incident mean that supplies will be cut off between mainland TRB and the island. And finally the island itself. Famous for its sand beaches in the west, and big waves in the northeast, Isla Nespa is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the nation.

Transportation and highway system
Transportation is diverse in The Royal Barangay. Here you can see a range of vehicles from a simple pedicab to large double decker buses and trucks. Interregional bus services are available everyday and uses a terminal system, like in airports. Jeepneys provide intraregional thoroughfare that completes the transport system in The Royal Barangay. Regional terminals are located in regional centers in the nation (Sangti, Mogya, Nuelma, Nandezfer, Leonde, Baoyam, Viocla and Gabel, with Nespa also a satelite hub).

Image
Highway system in The Royal Barangay
The highway system in The Royal Barangay is also modernized by the Senina administration, as numerous expressways here and there were constructed in the nation in order to shorten travel time around the nation. There are five main expressways in the nation: The Respana-Pranse Expressway, which links Region Capital with Respana Nuevo, Respana Viejo and Pranse in the South. Branching off from the second Viocla Exit is the REVONNE (Respana Viejo-Olhana-Nomadia-Nespa) Expressway, one of the most important roads in a Nespan point of view. The other expressway that spawns from Sangti is the Barangayan North Expressway, which passes through Cantones then to Nomadia, terminating in Cadomer, which it combines with the REVONNE Expressway. At Mogya, the Barangayan Central Expressway spawns from the BNE, which passes through Region Capital, Olhana to Leonde in Pranse to an interchange with the RPE. The last expressway is the Barangayan Coastal Road (BCR) which connects Manoglu in Respana Viejo with Calema in Nuevo Nomadia and passes through Pranse.

Senina's government spent millions of dollars in developing the expressways, which currently are giving many benefits to the transportation industry, businesses and motorists.

Besides the highways, there are also rapid transit systems in The Royal Barangay. The rail transit system in TRB has seven lines, connecting major regional centers in the nation. An extension to the eastern line is planned, which will extend the system into Isla Nespa.

Weather
Weather in The Royal Barangay is tropical - meaning that rains occur at the middle of the year, and occasionally at the southern part. There had been several storms that destroyed some provinces as of late, but these provinces recover quickly and after a month, normal life is restored. The northern part is rarely visited by storms, and a prime destination during rainy seasons.

Rainy seasons occur between June and November, while the rest of the year has sunny seasons, particularly in April.

People
Generally, the people in The Royal Barangay are inhospitable, with only a few percentage of them trained to be tour guides or attendants, but still most of the time, foreigners file complaints about their rudeness. With a new government installed, it is now a requirement in all levels of education in TRB to teach values education to people at their young age. However, there are some that are hospitable by birth; it is just the former governments that fail to nourish them.

The Royal Barangay has five languages: Baranggayo (RL Filipino), Sangtiano (RL Spanish), English, Pransean (RL French) and Cantonense (RL Basic Mandarin), but the majority of the can only speak and understand at most three, including English. English literacy in the nation is roughly at 90 percent - People at the northern side of the nation only understand Cantonense and either Baranggayo or Sangtiano. Signages at these areas are written in four languages.

How to enter The Royal Barangay
There are at least three ways of entering The Royal Barangay: via air travel, via sea travel (from the South), and via land travel (from Ati Kaluraya, Swyftherth, or the uninhabited north of TRB). The Zalesgon International Airport (Sangti-Zalesgon) is the gateway to The Royal Barangay, and almost all international flights arrive in this airport. The Leonde Port in southern TRB is where people that ride in ships arrive. Border control in TRB is tight since Arias took over as the Gran Supremo. Every passing pedestrian or vehicle is inspected and passports are required to be shown. This is the same case as in the ZIA and Leonde Port.

Upon entering TRB, the people arriving show his/her passport and a computer database, updated every two hours is checked for possible blacklisted personnel. Belongings are also heavily inspected and anything that poses danger (such as sharp objects, explosives, smoke flares among others) are confiscated. However, these rules are poorly implemented by security officers, leading to lapses that can endanger anyone in the nation.

Foreigners entering the nation can apply visas prior to their travel to the nation. There are three types of visas: Tourist, Worker, and Immigrant. Tourist visas usually last only a month; Worker visas usually last the duration the contract is signed (the traveller has to submit a copy of the contract explicitly stating the length of it), while Immigrant visas lasts indefinitely; these visas have the longest processing time, as it involves checking of clearance records (such as criminal records, international watchlists, etc.).

Regulations
Upon entering the Royal Barangay, foreigners are expected to obey the laws enforced by the Barangayan government. These include the prohibition to cause violence and harm to people, among other provisions. However, the government implements curfews only for those under the age of 12. This curfew means that any unaccompanied people under that age would be prohibited from coming out of their houses by 10 PM.

Also, staying in the nation with expired visas is punishable by banishment and deportation. Commiting any crimes (or cases filed against) will revocate the visa of the offender, whatever type he/she has.

Korvan hockey teams prize highly technical play. Fighting is frowned upon in the Korvan Hockey League, however this does not mean that Korvan players are afraid to throw down. The nation is abuzz with excitement as this is Korva's first participation in an international sporting event.

Go crazy, but don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory. However, expect reciprocation if you injure/kill my players. Also, if you mention my country in an RP but don't call it by its full name (i.e. "Gregoryisgodistan" without any special formatting in the middle) please TG me to give me a heads up.You don't need to wait for permission and I might not even reply. I often search for my country's name so I can respond to RP's more easily, but if you don't mention it by name, that doesn't work. You can also mention it by name in an OOC note somewhere in the RP instead of TG'ing me, since then it will show up in a search. If for whatever IC reason you decide to strike the "isgod" in the name of the nation, as in Gregoryisgodistan, that will not suffice as notification as it will not show up in the search. In that case, TG me or mention my name without the strike either IC-ly or OOC-ly somewhere in your RP. If the formatting effects the whole name (i.e. Gregoryisgodistan, it will still show up in search, so you don't need to do anything else.

Our team is entirely amateurs and they all only play hockey recreationally. However, hockey is growing in popularity thanks to the recent WCoH success.

Also, note that these are the players real names, the titles are part of the name and are followed by the government ID sequence unless they are important, in which case it's followed by a real name.

Actor 81248D8J is well-known for playing Doybert on the hit TV show "Costa Lunians Say the Darndest Things". Other than that, none of our players are big names.

We will wear dark uniforms for home matches. For away matches, if our opponent wears a dark uniform, we will wear white. If our opponent wears white, we will wear our dark uniform.

Lord Almighty Gregory recently announced the construction of Willingsley Arena, which will host its first games during the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. It seats 9,500, with room for an additional 570 fans of the visiting team to be hung from the rafters. No other visiting fans will be allowed in the arena.

What's a Pervert Chaser? Sounds inappropriate.
A pervert chaser is someone whose job it is to chase down those accused of sexually-related crimes, like mooning, nudity, indecent exposure, rape, and molestation, and cut off their private organs, then bring them in for trial, sentencing, and either a fine, slave labor, or execution depending on the offense.

Do you have any strange laws?
Yes, lots. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory numerous times each day, sing the national anthem every hour on the hour, and obey numerous other laws under harsh threats of penalty. For instance, uttering the word "coconut", farting, and eating any food other than gruel or prune juice, among numerous other crimes, are punishable by death.

Oh my god, will we have to follow these laws too?
Gregoryisgodistan respects freedom of religion for foreign visitors as long as the visitor's home country respects the freedom of Gregoryisgodistanis to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, their head of state and claimed deity. If you are from a country that has freedom of religion, you will not be subject to the laws of Gregoryisgodistan, with the exception of those against murder, theft, etc. If, on the other hand, your country only allows a state religion, and/or has banned the Church of Gregoryisgodistan, we will enforce our religion and laws on you full force and expect you to follow them or face the same consequences our citizens would.

What's a Horse Beater?
One form of entertainment in Gregoryisgodistan is where a Horse Beat beats horses with all sorts of torture devices, like whips, maces, pepper spray, and machetes, until the horse dies a horrible painful death. It is like rodeos, only more gruesome. These horses are randomly caught in the countryside by Horse Snatchers, then sold to Horse Recruiters, who bring them to the Horse Beating Show.

I'm from a country with sapient ponies. Should we be afraid?
Our laws prevent sapient beings from being beaten, but also define sapient beings as humans or intelligent extraterrestrials. So alien ponies need not worry. Earth ponies, on the other hand, could theoretically be caught, but as long as they do not roam the countryside with wild, non-sapient ponies, they should be fine, since horse snatchers typically do not look for horses in hotels or hockey rinks.

What's an Enemy Crusher?
Enemy crushers are very heavy Gregoryisgodistani government agents whose job it is to crush and torture criminals to get them to reveal information. They almost always kill the criminal. Enemy Crushers at the World Bowl and World Cup of Hockey, among other tournaments, crushed to death numerous fans, referees, and opponents. They were then rewarded by the Gregoryisgodistani government.

Should I be afraid?
Just don't anger an Enemy Crusher and you'll be fine.

Which players like to fight?
The pervert chasers, prison guards, and slave beaters are very prone to fights due to their violent professions. Additionally, the Enemy Crushers have been known to crush opposing players, referees, or spectators. This often results in their deaths, much like what happened at the World Bowl. Nobody other than Enemy Crushers are capable of killing anyone, though pervert chasers carry their private-cutting knife with them at all times, and in the event a player, coach, fan, or spectator commits a sexual-related crime during a hockey match in Gregoryisgodistan, they will cut off their privates in the middle of the match. It might even happen in road matches. This will be very painful. So basically, don't indecently expose yourselves and you should be fine.

Please refer to players by their full name at all times. For instance, our starting goalkeeper should be Enemy Crusher Franky "Fatso" McFattel and our left wing should be Weatherman 92UDH9111. This follows the typical Gregoryisgodistan naming format, which is title and government ID number, except for government VIPs which are title and name. Use both at all times. Do not just say McFattel or 92UDH9111.

The demonym is Gregoryisgodistani. The ice hockey team is nicknamed the Ice Slaves, and you may use this nickname.

GERMAN AMERICAN EIS-HOCKEY BUENDIS WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY 24 ROSTER

The German Americans make their first appearance in a very long time to the rink of the World Cup of Hockey. After a very long hiatus, the German Americans make a foray back into the world stage, lead by the newly created GAEHB. The GAEHB has selected players from the 8 clubs of the German American Eis-Liga, the only professional hockey league in the country. They hope these players can forge a new age in German American hockey.

The Eagles play a trap, possession style of hockey, liking to keep on pressure when they have the puck in the opponent's zone. The defenders are very good at slapshots, and the players tend to waste time passing, and then pass to defenders. The defenders may put a slapshot or pass in front of the crease. The forwards' job is to put the puck in off the rebound in most cases. The defenders on all lines are big and physical, and win back the puck with force whenever the opponent has possession. Watch out for Hans Schuhmacher to score the big goals, as well as Konstantin Reus to put on the big hits and pick a fight if he needs to. It will be hard to put pucks past starting goalie Ludwig Remer, who has mastered the butterfly tactic beautifully and has lightning-quick reflexes.

Important note:
Players that have a number assigned to them are generally the ones selected for a game. The lower the number, the earlier the player's shift (1st/2nd/3rd line/pair). Feel free to choose whatever set of players you want though, and you are also free to choose the lineup (as long as it's 1 goaltender, 2 defensemen, 3 forwards). The language in brackets behind their name is their first language. Players generally know 3-4 languages though, but this is just an indication.

Location: Eaton, Vesperia, Arkiasis
Capacity: 18,532

Notes
Hockey is most popular spectator sport in Arkiasis, and in Vesperia where winters are dark, cold and long, the sports reigns supreme as the unofficial religion and pastime. The East Nordania Hockey League is the top professional hockey league in the region and home to the Arkiasis Hockey League. The League has 24 teams which are divided into 2 conferences of 12 teams each. In 2013 the Annapolis Knights beat the Pacific Bay Seals 4 games to 2 to win the Memorial Cup. Arkiasis is commonly nicknamed "The Wolves" in international sport events due to the Wolf which commonly appears on uniforms.

The Arkiasis national team is known for their offensive power with players constantly ranking in the top of their respective leagues in points. However the team's defence is weaker than average and is susceptible to collapse if bombarded by constant offensive pressure. Arkiasis' goaltending is average however very unpredictable with a goalie having a shutout one game and then letting in a bunch the next.

Schedule
25 May - Arkiasis (37) vs Semarland (UR) [5-2 W]
26 May - Korva (UR) vs Arkiasis (37) [2-2 D]
27 May - Arkiasis (37) vs Gyatso-kai (4) [4–1 W]
28 may - Quakmybush (31) vs Arkiasis (37) [2–3 W]
29 May - Arkiasis (37) vs Borschlandia (UR) [5-3 W]
30 May - Semarland (UR) vs Arkiasis (37) [5-2 L]
31 May - Arkiasis (37) vs Korva (UR) [5-2 W]

Team Information:
Name: Andtion Wolverines
Trigramme: AND
Colors: Gold and Blue (with maroon)
Home Rink: Winkton Arena (the Wink), Orodun, Protanic Province, Anditia
cap: 19,231 (20,200 with Standing Room)
Game Style: A fair amount of puck control (leading to relatively lower scoring games) but still shooting on net with speedy wingers on break aways.

Style Modifier: +2
RP Permissions: Do whatever you want as long as none of my players die.

From the Andita Factbook entry on Ice Hockey:
Due to the long winters and icy conditions in Anditia, Ice Hockey tends to lead all other sports in both in formal participation and viewership. The Federation of Anditon Hockey (FAH) comprises the professional competition league at the national level. This league, founded in AC213, has its roots in smaller leagues that had been formed within the states previously. Currently there are 16 teams in two divisions that play a 67 game season (3 games out of conference, 6 within conference) with the top 8 teams making the playoffs (top 4 each conference, 4v1, 3v2, winner advances). The winner of the FAH, most recently the Orodun Bears, receives the coveted Winkton Cup.

Outside of the national competition of the FAH, Anditia also competes at the international level in a variety of competitions with their team the Anditia Wolverines wearing Gold with Red and Blue accents.
Image

During the most recent WCoH (23), the Anditon Wolverines were one win short of making it past group play posting a record of 4-1-4 and a +3 goal differential. This performance earned them the 40th rank overall in Ice Hockey competition. They look to improve their ranking during the next WCoH.
Head: Mario Grappo
Offense: Saul Rior
Deffense: Liam D'Oort
Goalie: Sebastian Van Mys

Current Roster:
Following the retirements of Assistant Captain D Brad Boldt, LW Patrick Nisur and RW Jason Smith, the Wolverines look to be a little younger this year for the 24th World Cup of Hockey. Mike Wallock (LW #7) comes off of a season ending hamstring injury that he incurred during the FAH regular season to take the place of Nisur. Nikko Havut, the speedster from Tenebra, replaces Jason Smith on the main scoring line from the previous tournament - his additiona speed should provide more opportunities to catch the opposing defenses short handed on the rush. Rookie phenom Jimmy Boef replaces him on the third line. Brent Fumar replaces Boldt following the success of his pairing with Radek Lovan during the FAH with their play in the highly touted defensive powerhouse the Norjär Lumberjacks

7 Mike Wallock - 27 Nestor Van Ryk (C) - 9 Sam Nelson (A)
17 Samm D'Aura - 22 Mikka Thomas - 10 Nikko Havut
23 Kyle Pane (pest/instigator)- 18 Tim Stone - 8 Jimmy Boef
2 Marc VanBork - 6 Ryan Neil - 4 Phillip Mys (enforcer)

Bench/Reserves:
11 Alphonse Gregor (LW/RW), 14 Gart Vortmann (C)
5 James Varton (LW)

3 Brent Funar(A) and 23 Radek Lovan
12 Fold Vardos and 21 Jarls Mikku
16 MacLean Thompson and 29 James Surmar (Enforcer)
32 Jarnor Albers (bench)

31 Corwin Buvol (1b)
33 Anders Mikkan (1a)

Wolfen forwards playing on the national level tend to be very efficient scorers, making the best of every scoring opportunity. Defensemen tend to be big, huge hulking guys who hit hard. Fights can occur occasionally, but challenges with forwards more often than not end up being fought by a defenseman. Wolfen teams are usually very offense oriented, and have good goalies, but lack in the defense.

Games will be played at the re-purposed Football Stadium for a large, roaring crowd of 50,000 fans outside.

Roster
Ice hockey isn't exactly the most popular sport in the Equestrian States. In fact, it's not even in the top ten for the largest attendance draws (falling even behind the perpetually pathetic Handball League). To assemble their national team roster, the EIHF again looked to the Equestrian Ice Hockey League for players. The EIHL includes some of the most non-equine players of any sport league in the Equestrian States, and the roster of the national team reflects this well.

Strategy & Lines
Teams in the EIHL generally are more focused on finesse and speed than others, but with several major exceptions. Thus, the Equestrian States national team will play a more attacking style than their competitors. The defense will look to pass the puck forward and keep it out of the Equestrian zone to minimize the chances opponents will get. Goaltending isn't exactly a strong suit for the Equestrian States, so keeping the shots against to a lower number is a definite priority.

Team Staff
The Head Coach's job remains firmly in the hands of Nate Long, the first human to earn such a position on an Equestrian national team for any sport. Long earned his job through repeatedly dominating his rival (Bruiser) in "Coach of the Year" awards voting. But that's probably because the award is voted upon by the players, and Bruiser certainly has a personality to match his name, being an EIHL Hall of Fame defensepony.

Name: Canterlot Ice Arena
Location: Canterlot, Equestrian States
Capacity: 7,525
Short Description: One of the few purpose-built larger-capacity ice hockey arenas in the Equestrian States, the Canterlot Ice Arena is relatively new when compared to the older multi-purpose arenas in the nation. Canterlot Ice Arena is located on the outskirts of the Equestrian capital city, but is still easily accessible to visitors staying downtown Canterlot's higher-class hotels via the train. It's not ideal, perhaps, but it's the best the Equestrian States can offer right now.

That team's all-time record was 18 wins, 1 overtime loss, and 11 losses in regulation. They won their group in WCoH 19 and reached the round of 16 in that tournament and at WCoH 20. After taking a year off from the Multiverse Stage, the Ice Bison brought home the World Cup of Hockey in the Twenty-Third Edition and now, they seek to defend their title!

"It was quite the victory," spoke Team Captain Hakoda Ishii during interviews after the announcement of the Gyatso-kai National Roster. "We took a tour of the nation, enjoying the lime light before getting back to work for the 2014.1 Season."

For Ishii and the rest of the players on the National Team, it was certainly a benefit to have such a victory. As part of the contracts signed by the AHL Players Association (AHLPA), any player who plays for the National Ice Hockey Team and is victorious receives a bonus of 25,000¥ for winning the World Cup: In previous tournaments when the Ice Bisons won second- and third-place, each player received just 15,000¥ and 10,000¥ respectively. This money does not come from the Avatarian Government, but rather from the National Sports Council.

"All the money that is used to reward our players comes from independent sources. For example," poke President of Hockey Operations for the National Sports Council Cheng Yukstad, "Our broadcasting deals with ASPN, licensing and trademark incomes, as well as advertising deals. All of these supply us with the roughly 750,000¥ to pay the players on

the team."

In addition to the bonuses for the players, it was reported by the Republic City Mail that on-top of his contracted salary (which remains undisclosed), Head Coach Kad Skirata received an additional ¥1.25 million bonus for the World Cup victory.

"It was a great victory, a perfect conclusion to what was an other-wise less-than-stellar tournament," stated Skirata looking back at the announcement press conference. "We fought a hard battle, to face Havl for the second time in the Championship game. And even with the most-unorthodox of tournaments we faced this cycle, we still managed to win it all for the first time in our history."

In addition to the glory of becoming World Cup of Hockey champions, the Ice Bisons saw their rank in the multiverse jump from 19th to 4th, entering the Top Five of Multiverse Hockey for the second time in history; the first time the team made it into the Top Five was after WCoH XVI, where we stayed until our absence in WCoH XXII brought us down.

You just cannot keep the Ice Bisons down.

Since this is the first World Cup of Hockey since World Cup XVIII to maintain a traveling Group Stage, most Avatarian fans are looking forward to seeing the team play on home ice. While the National Sports Council has yet to announce which arenas will be chosen to house the World Cup games, there is much speculation as to which arenas will be selected. When asked during the announcement interview, Commissioner of the Avatarian Hockey League Brugar Bet'mance stated that the official schedule would be decided upon the announcement of the teams Gyatso-kai would be facing. As has almost become expected, GyatsoAir --- in partnership with the AHL and the National Sports Council --- have further reduced the prices of airline tickets to The Royal Barangay to facilitate the spectatorship of our national team should we advance out of the Group Stage. In addition, each game the Ice Bisons play in shall be aired on the entire ASPN family of networks (ASPN Prime, ASPN2, AVS, ASPN3, UASPN): All other games shall air on the World Sports Nation and World Sports Nation PLUS, which are being made available on all television and internet-provider services at NO COST from now until the conclusion of the World Cup of Hockey.

GK – 68 – ZHAO Hotaka
Height: 188cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: L - Team: Republic Capitals

After replacing the Great Wall of Shu three years ago, Zhao Hotaka has proven to be a worthy starting netminder for the Ice Bisons. He continues to flourish at home, leading the Republic Capitals to their second consecutive Kuruk Cup victory in the 2014.1 season, and as of now, is set to challenge for the a third.

His style of play is very reminiscent of Shu, credited with teaching Zhao back at BSSU. A mixture of the profly with more classic butterfly style thrown in, Zhao's quick reflexes prevent many a rebound from getting past him. In addition, being a full five centimetres taller than Shu, Zhao is able to cover a bit more net and keep the goals from getting past him. His original role on the Ice Bisons was to come in and save Shu, rescuing many a performance, though now, starting with the first line, it may be Zhao who will one day need saving.

LD – 32– SATO Sorua
Height: 191cm - Weight: 101kg – Age: 27 years old – Hand: R - Team: Beijing Stars

A strong defenceman who Skirata has favoured since the Third World Junior Hockey Championships, Sato Sorua is a integral piece of the Bisons' defence. Into his sixth professional career season, Sato has been enjoying recent success after a surprise trade to the Beijing Stars right before the 2013.3 Lockout; a promotion to Assistant Captain and a placement on the first defensive line top off his seventh selection to the national team.

A strong defence player, Sato originally played the right side of the ice, however, Coach Skirata feels that a good defenceman can play both sides and as such, Sato has been switched up to test the theory. One of the greatest back-skaters in the game, he has become a regular facet of the Ice Bisons' defence.

RD – 32– Pakku ITO - ASSISTANT CAPTAIN
Height: 193cm - Weight: 108kg – Age: 35 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

The seasoned veteran of the Defensive line, Pakku Ito is returning to National Team for the eighth time, and as such, continues to bring his experience to the line; now at 35-years-of-age, he has entered what most consider the twilight of an Avatarian player's career --- most players retire around 40 --- and yet, he still possesses the vitality of a man ten years his junior. In fact, in the team's victory over The Transalpine Republic, Ito recorded his Century for the Ice Bisons; one hundred caps made even sweeter by the game-winning goal.

Great on the backskate and known for perfect poke-checking skills, Ito’s greatest strength is his ability to read the ice and predict the play with an uncanny certainty. He isn’t afraid of getting rough, which with his Mandalorian background, should come at no surprise. After three-peating the Kuruk Cup before the "Capital Double" and repeating the Shield Trophy in the 2013.3 season, Ito has continued to prove he is simply an invaluable asset to any team he is on.

LW - 02 – Arnook ISHIDA
Height: 188cm - Weight: 93kg – Age: 25 years old – Hand: L - Team: Makapu Flames

A solid winger capable of playing both sides of the ice equally, Arnook Ishida has managed to finally find his place as a mature winger. After six years in Cotdelapoms with the Albionpool Oak Leafs, Ishida has made a triumphant return to the AHL, signing a three-year, 8 million yuan contract with his old team the Makapu Flames which has proven to be quite the deal for the Flames.

In WCoH XXIII, Ishida had a bit of a slow performance, recorded a double-quarter in the series; four goals and four assist. While many analysts said this was simply due to his recovering from a minor strain weeks before the tournament, some feel it is simply his age showing early. Being the youngest starter on a line filled with 30-something "legends", many fans are calling for Ishida to be moved to the second line and allow younger blood to infuse the first. Ishida is a quick skater, known to be very physical when the game calls for it. Though his slapshot is impressive, he tends to overshoot the goal, often pulling just a centimetre to the right or left.

The star forward of the Itakawai Lightning, Hakoda Ishii returns to lead the Ice Bisons in their quest to repeat the World Cup victory.

A strong centre, Ishii is able to coordinate many a great highlight goal: With tremendous vision and terrific passing skills, he is the best two-way player in Gyatso-kai. Looking to do even better this time around, you can be sure that Ishii shall light the lamp at least once every game. Just six goals short of the 100-goal mark, Ishii is set to make history in what some people are seeing as his swan song.

While a regular staple on the Ice Bisons' second line and as an Assistant Captain, Hei Hayate experienced two changes to his role on the Ice Bisons. For one, he has replaced Wad'e Tay'haai as the Right Wing starter following Tay'haai less-than-great performance during WCoH XXIII. Second, he no longer bears the "A" on his jersey. When interviewed during Media Day, Hei spoke of how the decision to forego the role of Assistant was one of his own suggestion. "Having all three leaders on the first line does nothing for the team. Instead, I suggested we give the 'A' to a younger player deep in the depth chart to help foster a future leader in this team."

A very strong centre, much like his first-line counterpart, Hei is known for his strength at coordinating the forward line to execute many a great plays. Being shifted to the right, Hei will use his excellent vision and adequate stick handling to feed the puck up the middle or across the ice.

LD – 18 – KO Piandao
Height: 188cm - Weight: 95kg – Age: 33 years old – Hand: R - Team: St-Fortunat Saints(CDP)

Incredibly accurate with his passing and known for his interception skills, Ko has seen some great development while he played in Cotdelapoms. His strength is still one of his greatest assets, an asset he is not afraid to use on the ice; known for putting more than his fair share of men into the boards, Ko garnishes at least two penalties a game for his

roughness... Something he is proud of. Many analysis in Cotdelapoms feel that he is simply too good for the Saints, and yet he renewed his contract for another three years two seasons ago.

When asked to describe Ko, Coach Skirata compared him to his namesake, the dao --- or sword--- in that he teters on the edge of a finely-honed blade, and just a simple push will slice you in half: Ko is known to divide players with his impressive size and muscle pucks away from the foes before passing them off to an open player. While his shot power is weaker than most players, his accuracy is second only to the most proficient sharpshooter in the game, Hakoda Ishii.

RD – 26 – HITEKI Kia
Height: 190cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: R - Team: Northern BuffaloYaks

A impressively sized Northern Watertribesman, Hiteki Kia was a natural choice to replace the injured Iwai Itsuki during WCoH XXIII: Known for his physical play, Hiteki is not afraid of boarding whoever has the puck and getting it up ice. He has strong passing skills compared to Iwai, as well as similar speed and agility. All of this combined, as well as an impressive first showing in only his second World Cup, Hiteki has earned a spot on the second line replacing Feng Tao. In his first Cup on the main lines, Hiteki was able to score two goals and garnish two assists on the third line; one better suited at "damage control", yet he was the deciding goal against The Fair Republic, as well as the go-ahead go against Havl.

Known for his "clean-up skills", Hiteki is a more reserved player than his left counterpart, Ko Piandao. His accuracy is mediocre at best on the shot, but his ability to poke-check and contain the puck within the blue makes Hiteki a solid addition to a line that has not seen very much success in the last World Cup.

LW – 26 – Walon VAU
Height: 182cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 25 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

Drafted by the Itakawai Lightning in the second round during the 2012.2 AHL Draft, Walon Vau had an incredible two seasons before the 2013.1 Lockout; having won multiple awards, Vau has proven he is much more than the collegiate background to Kal Skirata.

Given his strong backhanded shots, Vau is known for his trademark backward's skating goals at KSU; sending a puck on his left side while skating backwards at the last minute. A little childish in Skirata's opinion, but none the less, it garnishes the support of the fans who always enjoy a little showmanship. After working during the off-season with Hakoda Ishii since joining the Lightning, Vau has continued to show improvement.

Height: 183cm - Weight: 87kg – Age: 25 years old – Hand: R - Team: Whale Tail Whalers

Wad'e Tay'haai has hit a bit of a funk. After a low-scoring outing in World Cup XXI, Tay'haai returned to Itakawai to have his first 30-goal season. Whatever the reason, the success Tay'haai first had in the AHL cannot transfer to the World Cup, and in fact, this issue seems to have infected his AHL performances now as well; after the 2014.1 season in which he scored less than 20 goals, the Itakawai Lightning made the heartbreaking decision to trade the former KSU Star to the Whale Tail Whalers to make room under the salary cap to allow for some post-season shuffling. This trade seemed to also signal the end of his first-line run on the National Team. When asked why the shift from the front, Skirata said that perhaps allowing Tay'haai more time to play with his former collegiate teammates would inspire him again, and see an improvement to his game.

An impressive winger with a very defensively-minded style, Tay'haai continues to show his strengths in skating and the face-off circle. While the shift from right-wing to centre may change his playstyle, Tay'haai still enjoys the face-off; having never lost a face-off in his entire ACSA career and a mere thirty in his six season with the Lightning and only two with the Whalers.

A natural talent, Kal Skirata's skill comes as no surprise, given the history of the Skirata Clan in the Avatarian Sports. While originally suspected to play his first professional game in Gyatso-kai, Skirata would stun the Republics by signing a two-year contract with the Montréal Cotdelapomais, taking his amazing talent and youth to the CHL. While some back at home feel Skirata betrayed his family with the move, however, his father even came out in support of his son's decision; stating the move would introduce the younger Skirata to more styles of play and gain him 'an invaluable experience'. Nonetheless, in his very first season in the CHL, Skirata would come away with not only the Lapointe Award for the Best Rookie, he was able to take the Cotdelapomais to the Dumas Cup final in which he would face off against Shu and the Royals. A touching moment after the final game was when Shu and Skirata came together in the last line, and gave each other a solemn bow before embracing one another.

Now, into his second CHL contract, Skirata is showing no sign of slowing own, and continues to develop into a well-rounded right wing who can play both sides of the ice, as well as a player with the vision to one day be a play-caller.

Some other players might need to retire first...

Playing in the AHL for four seasons and then another nine in the CHL, Feng Tao has seen some success in the CHL as of late; with the trade to the St-Fortunat Saints two seasons, Feng has been pleased to have been re-united with Ko, whom he played with for three season at Omashu. The chemistry is still there, and the coaches of St-Fortuant have been very

happy with their acquisition. Feng is known for being a 'double threat", equally able to pull back and block any pass made by the opposition, only to turn that pass around and snipe a shot on goal.

While is backskating is impressive, Feng has struggled with the switch ever since a torn Achilles tendon weakened his right ankle seven seasons ago: Many blamed his less-than-stellar performance in the WCoH XV on that injury and he has continued the conditioning of that ankle to increase its strength. However, while he has been a member of the first line since WCoH XVI, his age has started to show, and in favour of more young blood, he has been relegated to the third line in an attempt to mentor the young Kuang Deniigi.

He heavily favours the foreshot, almost never taking a backhand to the puck and nearly always shoots from the right side of the ice: Though his style is predictable, the speed and finesse he gives the shot makes the end-result unpredictable.

Height: 193cm - Weight: 99kg – Age: 23 years old – Hand: R - Team: Kyrimorut Ramikade

Kuang Deniigi is a very physical player with a unique skillset; great ice vision allows Kuang to see plays forming well before they commence. Add to that impressive speed for such a large player and relatively good accuracy, and you have a defensive player who can shift the opponent's momentum against them.

Having graduated from Republic City State University four seasons ago, Kuang was drafted in the third round by Kyrimorut, however, he was quickly traded to the Makapu Flames where he would play for a single season before being traded back to the Ramikade. While the nature of the flip-flop is unknown, it allowed Kuang to play under two distinct coaching styles in two distinctively different divisions. It is always best to learn to combat multiple styles, and Kuang is very knowledgeable about his opponents; a valuable asset to have on the line designed to come in when the game is turning fast against your team.

With the moving of Arnook Ishida to the first line, Head Coach Kad Skirata has bestowed upon Kuang the position of Second Assistant Captain. In an effort to instill leaership skills in the next generation of Ice Bisons, Skirata sees in Kuang a younger Pakku Ito, and perhaps he will one day take the older Water Tribesman's place.

Returning to the ice in World Cup XXI after a season-ending ankle injury, Ikeda Kuruk worked very hard to displace the wild stallion of Kima Yagone from the third line. However, with the young Jaster Gilamij carving an impressive record on the right side of the ice, Ikeda had to adjust to playing on the left. All of this apparently was nothing for Ikeda, who managed to secure his position on the third line as a solid left-winger.

A strong power forward, Ikeda is known for his smooth skating and his ability to snipe with the best in the league. Given his background with two of the most pass-obsessed teams in the league, he has gained more skill in his passing department. With a history of shooting first and asking questions later, Ikeda has managed to return to his form pre-World Cup XXI, and signed a two-year extension on his contract with the Southern PolarLeopards.

Height: 185cm - Weight: 92kg – Age: 30 years old – Hand: R - Team: Republic Capitals

Having worked his way up the line in Republic City as he gained the Second Assistant Captain position following the injury of Olof Kolosji, Toru Akiak continues to better his game. However, with such developments small in contrast to those of the younger players, he has yet to shine any brighter; what he needs is a great defining moment, one in which he can show Skirata that he is meant to be a star player.

Being able to do everything well, but nothing great is something which is bothersome to many a coachers; for a player who was drafted seven years ago and has played on eight teams since, the gift that Coach Antinanco gave him in the place of 2nd Asst. Captain was in the hopes of giving him a solid future as a Captain; after four seasons without a

Captain, many on the Caps fan base want to see a new star rise from the ashes of Shu's departure.

RW– 17 – Jaster GILAMIJ
Height: 186cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 27 years old – Hand: L - Team: Keldabe Strills

Coming from a renowned Mandalorian Youth Hockey Development Academy in Keldabe, Jaster Gilamij played his collegiate hockey in Kibago under a student of Skiratas, Mos Shilosa. This resulted in Gilamij developing a very 'Mandalorian'-style of play; far more adept at sniping the puck from the blue line then at bringing it into the crease, Gilamij is still a little rough on the edges to take a lead position on the Bisons. Quick to draw, quick to shoot, Gilamij will one day be seen as a great player.

For now, he is average in all categories... And time may be running out...

Games to be Played Here: Matchday 1, Matchday 4

The Sundari Times Forum is a larger-than-average arena in in the Southern Mandalorian TErritories; seating just under 20,000 fans, the eight-time Kuruk Cup Champions are certainly a show of force within the League and their fans are known as the most compassionate and dedicated fans in the entire league. Considering the fact that this team has yet to even celebrate a 20-year Anniversary, there is only great history to be made by the Itakawai Lightning.

The Capital Centre is a more modest arena when compared to the other arenas in the division, seating just under 21,000 fans in the most posh of settings. Home to the Republic Capitals an incredibly wealthy team in which many of the most dedicated fans are served fresh caviar and fed sparkling wine through guilded funnels, the Capital Centre reflects this opulence in its design. All kidding aside, the fans of the Caps are slightly better behaved than most Avatarian Fans, so the Arkiasis Wolves will certainly be playing in front of a spirited group of fans.

Home to the Southern PolarLeopards, the Tribal Saddledome --- much like the Ice Palace of the BuffaloYaks --- seats 28,350 dedicated fans in what is arguably the most comfortable arena in the Antpolar circle. With the surrounding air reaching -20 during the season, while ‘warmer’ than the North, the hardened fans of the Southern Water Tribe will trek to the Tribal Saddledome and chant on their team, win or lose. If the Quakmybushian and Korvan can dare to venture into the frigid cold, they will be greeted by some of toughest fans in the AHL.

OOC: This is one of 2 major RP series that I'll be working on for this WCoH. It's about a top-ranked Quebecois prospect named Alexandre Dumont, and his journey to the National high school Championship and getting drafted.

The Road

19th of September, 2015

A small town of Ogoki Lakes was like one of many in Northern Ontario. It was located far away from a city, which was Moosoonee 650km away. Primarily populated by First Nations and some Anglophone settlers, it did not experience that much of change during last 200 years. The primary industries were still self-sufficient agricultural and hunting industries, which never got to be big due to tribal regulations that restricted cultivating more than what was enough. Thanks to its isolation very few were able to leave more than 50km outside of town, unless it was for visiting other towns in other businesses. During last few decades some youth have went on to continue their education on big cities, but few stayed out of their towns after that. For some strange reason they always returned, year after year, continuing their legacies.

In Northern Ontario, hockey was huge. It was played by almost everyone, whether in a very rare frequency or in almost life level. Intermunicipal games were always huge, with rivalries boiling out of them. In the past years the region has always produced a significant chunk of players, many of whom have moved onto play in the big league. Despite that the QMJHL, in the past and will continue do so in future, has refused to expand in the northern towns, citing lack of population and money that can keep crowds and franchises flowing. As a result, high school hockey continued to be very popular and strong in Northern Ontario, with games being community gatherings, as well as showcases for potential draft prospects.

Ogoki, though just as hockey-loving, never got to be the one who had the trophies stacked and ended almost every season in disappointment. This was about to change however......
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Three banners were in the rafters of James Wadena Memorial Arena. One was a very old banner, which was Ogoki's first district championship banner 20 years ago, when Ogoki made it to the provincial Semifinals. The banner next to it was Ogoki's provincial championship banner, won by the Lakers in 2006 under the leadership of Mikhail Komarov. Komarov, who scored 79 points in 28 games as a senior, led the stacked Lakers to win their first ever provincial championship held in London. Drafted by Kingston Knights, he played two years in QMJHL with Iqaluit Jr. Silver Wings and four in FHL(OOC: AHL version of Quebec) before being called up to Kingston, where he was on his fifth season now.

Since then Lakers have struggled to make much impact in the tough Northern Algoma District, unable to progress further than semifinals for last 4 years. During those times the attendance and fan support remained the same, but the on-ice product did not follow. No prospects reached the professional during that time and only two players were good enough to get scholarship offers from universities(1 went to Lakehead, while the other went to Carleton). Naturally people's expectations got lower and lower to such an extent that people just went to Lakers games as a part of their way of life.

This time however, there was an unusual level of optimism surrounding the team this time around. It was based around their key bluechip prospect, the left wing Alexandre Dumont. Dumont, the grand-son of a respected Anishnaabe elder, had been called up as someone who can challenge Kirils Golovkovs for the 1st overall pick in 2017 QHL draft or even play in Team Quebec years down the road. People in this small town remembered the process in which the hype began to grow. When he was 7 he scored 79 goals and 251 points in 78 games at his age group in NOJHA(Northern Ontario Junior Hockey Association), which was followed by 261 points in 61 games when he was 12. A year later he played with 15-year olds(most players in Grade 9 do not make the high school teams in this part of Northern Ontario) at AAA level(highest level of junior hockey before high school) in NOJHA and guided the Lac St.Louis Oboneswin-Regimbault Lions to an undefeated season and championship.

Due to this, there certainly and not surprisingly was a lot of pressure on Dumont, but he's definitely promising and he had a bright head on his young shoulders and people around him to guide him. It was hoped he'd be able to drive this squad onto something great.

Of course, expectation follows with responsibility and unlike other schools, where practices start in late September, Lakers have commenced their season with their first ever practice at 15th. Despite early stoppage of their breaks, players well knew why and gave in to the demands.
Right now they were on middle of on-ice scrimmage, in order to get themselves ready. Right now two units(there are three, with one having a bye each scrimmage) standing, one(dressed in red practice jersey) led by Captain Jonathan Gaunce and other(with blue practice jersey) by our very Alexandre.

On the bench stood William Duval, with his list of players. A promising prospect back in high school, he was a senior blue-liner when the Lakers won their only provincial championship. Thanks to his significant input in the provincial championship he received an athletic scholarship to Lakehead University, his parents' alma mater. After graduating Lakehead, he received some offers from minor league teams, which he was interested in accepting. However, he had to come back to his hometown after hearing that his mother(his father has been dead for 20 years by then) is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Originally planning to stay for a year, he was now on his 5th year as a retournee. Since then his life has been quite dull, but stable as well. He got a job as a classics teacher following Mme. Lalonde-Bourassa's retirement, taking over the job pretty well.

He has witnessed the growth of hockey players within this school and couldn't help himself but to feel satisfied at how some players have turned into bona fide stars at high school league. But being a winner at high school stage he still wasn't satisfied at all. His defense-first system still needed offensive star to equalise for the lack of scoring on all fronts and even though they had some good forwards, that wasn't enough to overcome their rivals in Three Rivers for last two years' District Semifinal. He hoped that Alexandre Dumont, their superstar for past 2 years, will finally light up and do enough to get himself into the Top 5 of upcoming QHL draft.

Now, going back to the 60-minute on-ice scrimmage, it was largely event-filled one. Both teams traded goals in the first period, as Stefan Zadorov(Junior, RD) scored the game-opening goal in the first minute, only to be responded by Dumont. During the second period however the Team Blue went on to take the period with a 5-1 lead with two goals from Igor Featherhead(Freshman, RW) and Ben Hunter(Senior, RD), with all four goals with an assist by the Superstar. Team Red, now desperate, tried to overtake their opponents as they went on to score three unanswered goals in third period, but it was too late as Michael White(Sophomore, LW) finished the nice play made by Alexandre Dumont, and the game off with Game-winning Goal at the very last minute of the play.

With the on-ice scrimmage over, the players quickly went back to the dressing room, where they got changed. Then, after getting their clothes changed back to street style, the players were subjected to Coach Duval's recap of the game and commentaries. It was not the ones players would enjoy, but they still listened to it anyways. They wanted the cup like no one else, and the only way to do so was to actually listen to the coach this time around.....
