Hello and welcome to the Orennanaian Broadcasting Corporation's Sports Channel! Here you can find out everything and anything about domestic sport here in Orennana, as well as links to where you can find out how the country is doing at international events. We start with one of each of these: first, a link to Orennana's current progress in IBS V.

Second, here's the results from the first day's play in this season's Premier League football tournament:

Woodtown 0–0 Westtown United
Aelhill 1–0 Spelley
Aldford United 1–0 Orport
Belmount Town 0–1 Newdale
Belmount United 5–0 Newbrook United
Bycastle 2–0 Newbrook City
Caldwatter Town 1–0 Merriwick
Cardinia Central 0–1 Maplemeadow
Esterbrook Town 0–0 Linford Athletic
Fallcoast 2–3 Lincliff
Gerbrucken Ancients 0–0 Havering
Gerbrucken City 1–4 Gerbrucken United

And here's the table:
Pos Name Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Belmount United 1 1 0 0 5 0 +5 3
2 Gerbrucken United 1 1 0 0 4 1 +3 3
3 Bycastle 1 1 0 0 2 0 +2 3
4 Lincliff 1 1 0 0 3 2 +1 3
5 Aelhill 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
6 Aldford United 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
7 Caldwatter Town 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
8 Maplemeadow 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
9 Newdale 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
10 Esterbrook Town 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
11 Gerbrucken Ancients 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
12 Havering 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
13 Linford Athletic 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
14 Westtown United 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
15 Woodtown 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
16 Fallcoast 1 0 0 1 2 3 −1 0
17 Belmount Town 1 0 0 1 0 1 −1 0
18 Cardinia Central 1 0 0 1 0 1 −1 0
19 Merriwick 1 0 0 1 0 1 −1 0

23 Gerbrucken City 1 0 0 1 1 4 −3 0
24 Newbrook United 1 0 0 1 0 5 −5 0

With a record haul of 5 goals to nil, Belmount United are rightfully at the top of the table. The Gerbrucken derby drew a lot of interest, if only to see how new City manager Alex Ashford dealt with the pressure of his first match. Lincliff came through in a decisive 3-2 victory over newcomers Fallcoast, while last season's winners Maplemeadow won 1-0 in Cardinia.

That's all the sport for now, come back soon to hear more about the Premier League, find out how the Bears are doing in IBS V, and see yet more previews for IBC-14.

Well, it's been another interesting day in the Premier League, with a few upsets for the teams that did better last season. Here's a full breakdown of the scores:
Westtown United 0–0 Gerbrucken United
Havering 1–0 Gerbrucken City
Lincliff 0–2 Gerbrucken Ancients
Linford Athletic 2–1 Fallcoast
Maplemeadow 1–0 Esterbrook Town
Merriwick 0–2 Cardinia Central
Newbrook City 1–0 Caldwatter Town
Newbrook United 0–0 Bycastle
Newdale 1–1 Belmount United
Orport 0–2 Belmount Town
Spelley 0–1 Aldford United
Woodtown 3–2 Aelhill

Last season's 9th-placers Aelhill lost at promoted Woodtown, while the Ancients took a clean win at Lincliff. Fallcoast, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, opened the scoring against Linford Athletic, but couldn't hold onto their lead, losing 2-1. Cardinia Central redeemed themselves for last week's loss by defeating Merriwick 2-0, while Havering took and held an early lead against Gerbrucken City.

Here's the current table:
Pos Name Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Aldford United 2 2 0 0 2 0 +2 6
2 Maplemeadow 2 2 0 0 2 0 +2 6
3 Belmount United 2 1 1 0 6 1 +5 4
4 Gerbrucken United 2 1 1 0 4 1 +3 4
5 Bycastle 2 1 1 0 2 0 +2 4
6 Gerbrucken Ancients 2 1 1 0 2 0 +2 4
7 Woodtown 2 1 1 0 3 2 +1 4
8 Linford Athletic 2 1 1 0 2 1 +1 4
9 Newdale 2 1 1 0 2 1 +1 4
10 Havering 2 1 1 0 1 0 +1 4
11 Belmount Town 2 1 0 1 2 1 +1 3
12 Cardinia Central 2 1 0 1 2 1 +1 3
13 Aelhill 2 1 0 1 3 3 0 3
14 Caldwatter Town 2 1 0 1 1 1 0 3
15 Lincliff 2 1 0 1 3 4 −1 3
16 Newbrook City 2 1 0 1 1 2 −1 3
17 Westtown United 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 2
18 Esterbrook Town 2 0 1 1 0 1 −1 1
19 Newbrook United 2 0 1 1 0 5 −5 1
20 Fallcoast 2 0 0 2 3 5 −2 0
21 Spelley 2 0 0 2 0 2 −2 0
22 Merriwick 2 0 0 2 0 3 −3 0
23 Orport 2 0 0 2 0 3 −3 0
24 Gerbrucken City 2 0 0 2 1 5 −4 0

With 44 matches still to play, the competition is still wide open. Last season's champions Maplemeadow are currently in joint first place, and many pundits expect them to win the league again this year, but with Aldford United at the top of the table, it really is anyone's game.

In other news, Orennana have lost their first IBS V quarter final, while the basketball team has won its first match against the Tidal Wake. More sports news to follow just as soon as we have it. That's all for now, folks.

Football and rugby and basketball and baseball - oh my!

First off, the results of the third day of the Premier League:

Aelhill 0–0 Westtown United
Aldford United 2–0 Woodtown
Belmount Town 1–0 Spelley
Belmount United 0–0 Orport
Bycastle 0–1 Newdale
Caldwatter Town 0–1 Newbrook United
Cardinia Central 0–1 Newbrook City
Esterbrook Town 4–2 Merriwick
Fallcoast 2–1 Maplemeadow
Gerbrucken Ancients 2–1 Linford Athletic
Gerbrucken City 1–0 Lincliff
Gerbrucken United 0–3 Havering

Gerbrucken City's abysmal season start seems to have abated with a win against struggling Lincliff, even if it was only by one goal. With three home games in Gerbrucken, one side was likely to be disappointed, and it was United's turn today, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Havering. Both of Newbrook's teams played away today, and both won 1-0, both gaining much-needed points early in the season. Esterbrook Town can be happy with today's biggest score, even if they did let two past. Aldford's new goalkeeper John Marland kept a clean sheet in his first game, proving to sceptics that he is, in fact, a good goalie, despite being only 17.

Here's the table for the Premier League:
Pos Name Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Aldford United 3 3 0 0 4 0 +4 9
2 Havering 3 2 1 0 4 0 +4 7
3 Gerbrucken Ancients 3 2 1 0 4 1 +3 7
4 Newdale 3 2 1 0 3 1 +2 7
5 Belmount Town 3 2 0 1 3 1 +2 6
6 Maplemeadow 3 2 0 1 3 2 +1 6
7 Newbrook City 3 2 0 1 2 2 0 6
8 Belmount United 3 1 2 0 6 1 +5 5
9 Esterbrook Town 3 1 1 1 4 3 +1 4
10 Bycastle 3 1 1 1 2 1 +1 4
11 Gerbrucken United 3 1 1 1 4 4 0 4
12 Aelhill 3 1 1 1 3 3 0 4
= Linford Athletic 3 1 1 1 3 3 0 4
14 Woodtown 3 1 1 1 3 4 −1 4
15 Newbrook United 3 1 1 1 1 5 −4 4
16 Cardinia Central 3 1 0 2 2 2 0 3
17 Westtown United 3 0 3 0 0 0 0 3
18 Fallcoast 3 1 0 2 5 6 −1 3
19 Caldwatter Town 3 1 0 2 1 2 −1 3
20 Lincliff 3 1 0 2 3 5 −2 3
21 Gerbrucken City 3 1 0 2 2 5 −3 3
22 Orport 3 0 1 2 0 3 −3 1
23 Spelley 3 0 0 3 0 3 −3 0
24 Merriwick 3 0 0 3 2 7 −5 0

Today marks the start of the States' Cup, a rugby union tournament that pits teams from each of the 7 states against each other in a bid to see who is champion of their state, and which state is the best in Orennana.
