I am interested in hosting a couple conferences. I have a couple question, though. Could my own schools be placed in a conference I am scorinating, and if so, would I need a third party scorinator? Anyway, here are my signups:

Lord Almighty Gregory National University (GGS)
Church of Gregoryisgodistan Religious Seminary (GGS)
Gregoryisgodistan Teacher's College (GGS)
Gregoryisgodistan Technical Institute (GGS)
Gregoryisgodistan Military Academy (GGS)
Art Institute of Gregoryisgodistan (GGS)
Culinary Institute of Gregoryisgodistan (GGS)
District 3 Community College (GGS)

Don't worry, all of these schools have acronyms that can be used in place of the full, long name. But I'll save that for the RP.

The signup list is updated. Currently looking at 225 schools from 32 nations, which would be a record. We're also looking at a good number of people who have said they would be willing to scorinate a conference or two, so we should be ok accommodating the higher numbers. Remember that signups will close at noon EST on Tuesday, and from there I will create conferences, double check that all nations who said they would host are still willing too, and then soon after we will be hitting the court.

Given the amount of people that have expressed an interest in hosting, and the amount of nations participating, there will be no problem this year keeping your schools out of the conferences that you are scorinating.

Sorry to keep spamming this thread, but I couldn't find a separate OOC thread to ask these questions.

1. How do scorination times work with a bunch of hosts in different time zones? Does each host set a different scorination time?
2. What is the schedule? Is scorination every day? If so, what if I have RL conflict one day? Does that mean nobody can scorinate that day?

Sorry, I have no experience even participating in college tournaments, so maybe these are stupid questions.

1) Hosts set their own schedule, so there will be a whole bunch of differing cutoff points for each conference.
2) Hosts are given a date range to both start their schedule and finish it by. This range will allow flexibility for them to balance the needs of hosting and their RL demands. A simplistic example would be: If a tournament needed 10 matchdays, a 15-day range is given so that the host can schedule their conference in a way that is best for them.

You'll also discover that we do NSCAA basketball in multiple threads, a la the World Cup.

There were 235 schools listed as signed up, and getting that number workable wasn't that easy. As mentioned in the opening thread, I reserved the right to take only 6 or 7 schools, instead of 8, if we got a lot of signups (which we did).

26 nations included eight schools. If we eliminate everyone's 8th school, we get 209. A nice workable number is 208 (13 conferences of 16 schools and a 16-school double round robin will have a 30-game season, which is very comparable to the NCAA). To take the "209" down to "208", I assigned each of the 26 nations with eight schools a number between 1 and 26. I then used @randbetween(1,26) to give me a random number, and the nation associated that number lost a second school, and will only have 6. Margaret's first decision of randomness for NSCAA 6 was to select the number in which as assigned to Koznia, and as such that nation will only have their top six schools participate. All other nations who had at least 7 schools listed, will have their top 7 included. Nations that initially listed seven or less schools will see no adjustments to their signup, and all are included.

The end result will be 13 conferences of 16. Since the final tournament is determined by the selection committee, and each conference has an independent schedule and its own tournament, the amount of conferences isn't important.

Stay tuned for more details.
