Congratulations to our eight finalists. Just a reminder, the quarter-finals will start on Thursday, 8th August, at 8:30Pm/20:30 UTC+8 (about 32 hours from now).

Any NRR tiebreakers not affecting the qualification will be calculated tomorrow, as I too tired to do anymore today.

With a decent record, a decent team nearly qualifies. The teams budget for next year from this performance gets a )V( 7,500,000 boost.

Darmen reach final of T20 World Championship for the second time

The Darmeni Nation Cricket Team defeated Barunia by the score of 149 for 7 to 145 to 7, with 4.1 overs left to spare. Leading batsman Gordon Spence almost hit for a century, but fell just short at 86 runs. The Darmeni Bowling wasn't superb, but kept the target low enough for the Darmeni batters to surpass.

This will be the second time Darmen has reached the final. The last time, Darmen faced The Babbage Islands, losing by the score of 168 for 4 to 120 for 5. This time around, Darmen will face Liventia, another Cricket powerhouse. The two teams have not faced each other before at the T20 level, but chances are that the game will be close and exciting.

The road to glory starts but with a single step - who will take it all the way?

Third Place
Barunia 140/7 (20 overs)
The Babbage Islands 113 (19.5 overs)

And the result you've all been waiting for...

Liventia 140/6 (20 overs)
Darmen 126/7 (20 overs)

Congratulations to our winner, and thank you everyone for participating.

The brand new Estadio Del Sol was filled to the rafters with Barunian fans, hoping to see the home side win some honour back with a third place finish. The Blues didn't disappoint either, getting off to a cracking start. Jon Doveson smashed 16 off the first over, before being dismissed in the second for 20. Michael Barrie (53) and Harvey Mitchell (31) steadied the ship with a good partnership, while Nathan Chambers gave the tail some wag with a quick fire 22 not out. James Rickards was the pick of the bowling with four wickets, while Sorenson and Chambers accounted for two each. Stephen Gutierrez and Patrick Deen were economical, keeping the Babbage Islands 27 runs short of victory, with Deen also picking up a wicket. The last wicket fell to Doveson, who managed to get a thick edge on the last ball that slid through to Mitchell.

As soon as the game finished, the stadium emptied, with many people hurrying to make the two hour journey from Monte Sol to Delmars in time for the final. As such, by the time the two captains were standing in the middle for the coin toss, the Stadium was filled to capacity, both with locals and cricket fans from all the nations represented in the tournament. The President of the Hosting Committee made a speech, and announced that each player who participated in the tournament would receive a small bronze medallion. Furthermor, there would be medals for the players from Darmen and Liventia, and of course one of them would be presented with the World Championship Trophy.
