I think it's time to admit defeat with this.

Basically, those of you who go on irc and were there for my attempts to post a domestic soccer league on time will know that my laptop refuses to open xkoranate at the moment except under incredibly precise circumstances that involve attempting and failing to do a system restore, and re-downloading the program. Otherwise, the .exe file appears in task manager as a runing process using up considerable amounts of CPU, but the program itself stubbornly refuses to run.

Now, I don't mind doing this once a month or so for my domestic leagues, but for a commitment such as this it strikes me as a little unfair to the rest of you. The CdC I used nsfs for, so that's fine. It's just Seasogs.

Given that today I discovered last.fm also suffers from this mysterious .exe CPU usage issue despite not running, I think it's time to start looking at new laptops. Clearly, I have some sort of bizarrely buggered item that won't let me do a system restore, and my fan runs like billy-o whenever it's on these days anyway. Also the keyboard is knackered.

So, until such time as I get a new laptop and things return to normal, I'm looking for an experienced volunteer to do future editions of Seasogs on a temporary basis. I can send you the ranks and talk you through the system/method I use(d).

I'll still do this edition, at some point when I can get xkoranate to boot up, but future editions won't run unless I get a volunteer. (Or, if people want, I can open and close signups as usual and just run the competitions themselves as a backlog when I'm back up and running.)

Commonwealth Rugby Union Premiership: Season V

A mistake by the organizers of the Seasogs RUCT led to increased nationalism at the home matches of several clubs that had been incorrectly listed as being from Tanamera, despite that country joining the Confederacy of Frecmenta. The FRFU tried to put a stop to some of the more blatant anti-confederacy chants and tifos, but was unable to do so. If anything positive has come from the situation, it has been an increase in passionate fans, with average attendance numbers rising from several hundred per game to a couple thousand.

Super Sixteen Season 16

Another season of Apoxian/Licentian rugby, and, of course, we must begin it with the Lockwood Cup for it to be properly underway. This season, it is Colesham City Blues, with 5 previous appearances against JK Memorial Squad, who have 4 past appearances in the competition.

Past Finals History:
I: Colesham City Blues 7-0 Dwile Jerseys
II: Islanders 26–24 JK Memorial Squad
III: Islanders 14–14 JK Memorial Squad
IV: Colesham City Blues 20–7 Dwile Jerseys
V: Dwile Jerseys 7–0 Colesham City Blues
VI: Colesham City Blues 19–0 Dwile Jerseys
VII: JK Memorial Squad 17–17 Colesham City Blues
VIII: Montfort Lions 5–0 JK Memorial Squad

9th Lockwood Cup
JK Memorial Squad 18–6 Colesham City Blues

Crumbs! That's a rare win for an Apoxian team, making it only the second out of nine cups in which an Apoxian team has won the pre-season opener. Let's see how the actual league season went:

Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 JK Memorial Squad 30 19 3 8 618 313 +305 79 - CHAMPIONS, SEASOGS
2 Islanders 30 19 3 8 609 452 +157 79 - SEASOGS
3 Colesham City Blues 30 19 2 9 458 206 +252 78 - SEASOGS
4 Hudd Trolls 30 19 1 10 544 487 +57 77 - SEASOGS
5 Gwinevra Saints 30 16 0 14 415 364 +51 64 - SEASOGS
6 Dwile Jerseys 30 15 1 14 389 397 −8 61 - SEASOGS

7 Celtic Warriors 30 15 1 14 503 520 −17 61
8 Mandon Faithful 30 14 2 14 458 438 +20 58
9 The Vikings 30 13 2 15 413 452 −39 54
10 Montfort RFC 30 13 1 16 398 489 −91 53
11 Mona Warriors 30 13 0 17 361 432 −71 52
12 Northern Urbanista 30 12 1 17 263 354 −91 49
13 Barbury Exiles 30 11 2 17 342 529 −187 46
14 Montfort Lions 30 11 1 18 374 460 −86 45
15 Exton Heraldrim 30 10 3 17 337 402 −65 43 - RELEGATED
16 The Redwood Club 30 8 3 19 415 602 −187 35 - RELEGATED

Well, that was a hell of a close run thing. JK Memorial Squad pick up yet another title win, although they were pushed close by Islanders, Colesham City Blues and, surprisingly, Hudd Trolls, who make a return to international competition after a few years left out in the wilderness. Gwinevra Saints and Dwile Jerseys make up the representation from the Super Sixteen. Celtic Warriors surprise the league in not doing terrible, while Mandon Faithful and Northern Urbanista will be disappointed with their seasons. Montfort Lions will also be disappointed, especially as they are nearly relegated. Exton Heraldrim head straight back down to the APL, and The Redwood Club are off as well, after a number of seasons in the Super Sixteen.

The Apox Premier League

Pld W D L PF PA PD BP Pts
1 Dwile Rugby 14 9 0 5 183 164 +19 1 37 - CHAMPIONS, PROMOTED
2 Southern Urbanista 14 8 0 6 265 200 +65 4 36
3 Oldem Academicals 14 7 1 6 186 178 +8 1 30
4 Cierbana 14 7 1 6 198 215 −17 1 30
5 RFC 14 6 1 7 188 149 +39 3 28
6 Zealots of the North 14 6 0 8 223 236 −13 3 27
7 Ecchinswell Saints 14 6 0 8 172 226 −54 1 25
8 Skibbereen 14 5 1 8 154 201 −47 2 23 - RELEGATED

It was a very close season in the APL indeed, but Dwile Rugby are the eventual winners, and they will therefore make the step up to the Super Sixteen for next season, with Southern Urbanista coming very close to instant re-promotion indeed. Oldem Academicals are beginning to rebuild, having a good season for them, and soon they may even be able to make it back into the Super Sixteen. Skibbereen played with gusto, and were unlucky to be relegated in the end, with the bottom half of the table all being very close together. They will be replaced by Northerly United next season.

Apoxian qualifiers (APX): JK Memorial Squad, Hudd Trolls, Gwinevra Saints, Dwile Jerseys

A few notes on procedure:
With 60 teams being submitted from 15 leagues (13 of which had previously submitted results), tournament organisers settled for the following solution to the scheduling issues.

The winners of the fifteen leagues received a bye to the group stage. This left forty-five teams. The bottom ranked twenty-two teams of this forty-five were sorted by league and randomly paired up to a team from a different league in order to play a qualifying match. The winning eleven progressed to the second qualifiers with the remaining twenty-three for a second qualifying match that gave us our final seventeen qualifiers.

For the Group Stage, teams were seeded by rank into four pots, and then randomly drawn, with no two teams from the same league permitted in the same group.

The draw for the Round of Sixteen is drawn randomly so every runner-up played away to a group winner, with no two teams from the same league permitted to play each other. Remaining rounds were drawn randomly.

Also, I've noticed a few signups in the same format as Commerce Heights requests for the UICA tournaments. Whilst I appreciate the effort, if you really want to help me do signups quicker then the best thing to do would be to just list them one after another, each team on a different line, in the order in which they qualified. Without numbers or bullet points. Like how I do in my league submission. It's not a mandatory request but if you really want to help, that's how to be helpful. Do continue to list them at the bottom of your league post in one format or another, though, that's the most important thing. If I miss any signups that don't do at least that, then I won't be held accountable.

Tim City AC come away from the season with their fourth straight title and seventh overall, tying Scott City AC for most all-time. A string of poor late season results for Tim City AC however made things close at the top, as they finished only six points ahead of Scott City after once enjoying a double digit lead over the rest of the field.

It's safe to say that the Brady City Sharks are no longer members of the "Big Four" having been replaced by the Blues from Rogerton in the top echelon of rugby teams in Darmen. They finished sixth this season, finishing outside the top four for the first time since Season XVI, when they finished fifth.

At the bottom, promoted side Starburg Old Beach played well enough to remain in the premiership, while former Championship side Scott City Lyons finished last and will return to the second tier. They'll be replaced by Dallas RFC, who finished just two points ahead of the Menomonie Students, to claim the Championship title and promotion.

Leaving aside the fact that apparently I don't know what day of the week is which, the hard deadline for entry into the next edition of Seasogs is now set for MIDDAY (BST) on THURSDAY 16TH APRIL 2015.

Super Sixteen Season 17

It's back again! The joint Apoxian-Licentian rugby endeavour, back for yet another season in which there'll be plenty of intrigue and good rugby as usual. First though, the Lockwood Cup:

Past Finals History:
I: Colesham City Blues 7-0 Dwile Jerseys
II: Islanders 26–24 JK Memorial Squad
III: Islanders 14–14 JK Memorial Squad
IV: Colesham City Blues 20–7 Dwile Jerseys
V: Dwile Jerseys 7–0 Colesham City Blues
VI: Colesham City Blues 19–0 Dwile Jerseys
VII: JK Memorial Squad 17–17 Colesham City Blues
VIII: Montfort Lions 5–0 JK Memorial Squad
IX: JK Memorial Squad 18–6 Colesham City Blues

10th Lockwood Cup
Islanders 14–22 JK Memorial Squad

Perhaps Apoxian luck in the season opener is beginning to change! JK Memorial Squad win for a second time in a row, the first time that clubs from Apox have retained the trophy over their Islander opposition.

Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 Islanders 30 24 0 6 643 400 +243 72 - CHAMPIONS, SEASOGS
2 JK Memorial Squad 30 20 2 8 514 393 +121 62 - SEASOGS
3 Hudd Trolls 30 20 2 8 490 474 +16 62 - SEASOGS
4 Gwinevra Saints 30 20 0 10 445 309 +136 60 - SEASOGS
5 The Vikings 30 19 1 10 546 442 +104 58 - SEASOGS
6 Colesham City Blues 30 17 4 9 360 228 +132 55 - SEASOGS

7 Mandon Faithful 30 18 1 11 515 427 +88 55
8 Northern Urbanista 30 16 2 12 364 323 +41 50
9 Dwile Jerseys 30 13 3 14 418 381 +37 42
10 Montfort RFC 30 13 2 15 345 368 −23 41
11 Celtic Warriors 30 12 0 18 478 513 −35 36
12 Montfort Lions 30 10 2 18 408 497 −89 32
13 Barbury Exiles 30 7 2 21 283 477 −194 23
14 Mona Warriors 30 7 1 22 332 442 −110 22
15 Dwile Rugby 30 6 3 21 281 510 −229 21 - RELEGATED
16 Carrington Devils 30 4 3 23 180 418 −238 15 - RELEGATED

Well, that's that then. Islanders storm back to the title, with JK Memorial Squad their closest contender, but only just, with Hudd Trolls (who are having a resurgence of late) behind them on points difference. Gwinevra Saints are back into Seasogs this season and The Vikings have a great season to finally qualify, with Colesham City Blues making up the top six. Down the bottom, it's the two promoted teams who are heading back down again, although Dwile Rugby is close to Mona Warriors and Barbury Exiles, both clubs having low points seasons whilst still miraculously managing to stay up.

APL Season 11

Pld W D L PF PA PD BP Pts
1 Exton Heraldrim 14 10 0 4 249 161 +88 3 33 - CHAMPIONS, PROMOTED

3 RFC 14 8 3 3 184 154 +30 1 28
4 Southern Urbanista 14 8 1 5 240 197 +43 2 27

8 Northerly United 14 2 1 11 205 309 −104 0 7 - RELEGATED

The APL confirmed this season as one with all the clubs instantly returning to their previous division, with Exton Heraldrim going straight back up again, and Northerly United being relegated once more. Even more appropriate is the fact that Skibbereen earn instant promotion back up from the APL2 for next season as well.
