Choose my goalscorers Y, but try to keep them in the starting 11
Godmod scoring events Y, but not too ridiculous
RP injuries to my players Y, but not to serious
Godmod injuries to my players Y, but please don't cripple them
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y, but not excessively
Hand out red cards to my players Y, but not too often
Godmod other events Y, make it funny

I reserve the right to retcon any permanent damage you do to my players

And the team:

Manager: George Davies- Resigned from the first team after a very disappointing start to the World Cup 56, which he deemed disgraceful for a team who had just won the Baptism of Fire, but has since returned to the side. Hoping to rebuild Kalumba's international reputation after a long period away from competition and a decent showing at the last WC.

First Team Coach: Magnus Malan- Led the team throughout the last World Cup without much success but he did record a notable victory against highly rated Newmanistan, and suffered only narrow defeats to teams in the top 25 in the world. Very defensive minded and his approach led the team to be nicknamed 'The Tortoises'.

Goalkeepers:
Terrence Ottbourne-No.1 38 years old and team captain, an agile ex-paratrooper. He led the team to victory in the BoF and kept a clean sheet until the quarter-final. Together with Aaron Yuill of Southern Cynocephali was the outstanding keeper of the tournament. Now plays in Kagdazka and Pazhujebu proffesionally. Getting on a bit now, but still a force to be reckoned with.
Frank Burnden-No.67 42 year old veteran keeper, useful back up option. Will not expect to start but will most probably be on the bench to cover for the outstanding 'Super Terry' Ottbourne.
Peter Franks-No.41 23 year old rookie, first selection for the team. Missed out on going to the Di Bradini cup by 2 months, so will be hoping to play a few games to secure his position as long term successor to Ottbourne. May play in less crucial group games or when Kalumba are knocked out. Still strugging to fulfill his early potentiial.

Defenders:
LB-Derek Ward, 29 year old truck driver, stupid but effective No. 12 Recently banned from driving for Drink-Driving, will be hoping to secure a place at a foreign club team to provide him with an income.
LCB-Ronan Beardly, 33 year old, also Kalumba's golfing champion No. 14 Has suffered a nasty shoulder injury but should fit in time for the CoH.
LCB-Duncan Edward, 22 year old, pretty boy, but solid at the back No. 4 Recently married with a child will his mind be fully on the World Cup?
RCB-Klaus Van Harniggen, 24 year old, 6 foot 6, deadly in the air No. 6 Enrolled in a boxing program and has further added strength to his frame.
RCB-Norman Baker, 28 year old bank manager, great slide tackler No. 5 Castigated in the news for losing his bank a large amount of money speculating on the stock market, will try to rebuild his reputation.
RB-James Downs, 39 year old ex-rugpy prop forward, solid but no agility whatsoever No. 3 Recently dropped from his Rugby team so is looking to football for his wage.
RB-Frank Ruyten, 23 year old civil servant, very fast but poor crossing ability No. 19 Has worked on his crossing but still struggles to fulfill his promise as an attacking fullback.

Midfielders:
LM-Peter Kurtz, 25 year old full time proffesional footballer No. 21 Still struggling for form but has improved at the World Cup scoring twice and creating another couple for Kalumba.
LM-James Fish, 19 year old protege No. 9 Still a protege, retained for the first team instead of the U21s so Davies clearly intends to play him.
CM-Ollie Roberts, 24 year old model and dancing champion No. 18 First high profile homosexual in Kalumba. Has moved to Southern Cynocephali to play proffesionally and be open with his sexuality.
CM-Ben Rowlatt, 26 year old boxer No. 16 Robert's husband. Their relationship has caused problems in the team but after performances from them both helped to win the BoF are being more accepted.
CM -Oliver Dempster, 33 year old taxi driver No. 15 Recovering from shock after being mugged in his taxi, but will recieve the fans full support.
CAM -Ben Cheeter, 23 built like an arab donkey but with the shot of an angry mule No. 27 Didn't impress at either the BoF or the last WC but still integral to the team as he links the midfield to the strikers.
CDM- William Anderson, 37 year old Protestant Minister, couldn't tackle for toffee but aggrssive as the most violent phsycopath No. 17 Has toned down his aggression as he recieved a lot of yellow cards at the BoF and the last WC and was lucky not to be sent off.
RM-Chris Abouto, 23 year old sprinter, fast and can turn on a sixpence No. 33 A truly marvellous footballer, other than Ottbourne our player of the year. Scored many and set up more. Also rewarded with a move to proffesional football in K&P.
RW-Jermaine Filks, 33 year old great crosser of the ball No. 11 Due to Abouto's excellence has yet to feature but has worked on his left sided play in hope of getting a starting position.

Strikers:
RS- Roland Grezlak, 28 year old, 6 foot strong as an ox No. 8 Came on to score many a crucial goal, will be looking for me involvment this time round.
RS- Anthony Peters, 23 year old, youngster but top scorer last season No. 99 Barely featured but did score our second goal in the BoF final. Will be looking to break into the team on a regular basis.
LS-James Malone, 36 year old, seasoned veteran No. 21 Struggled for form and not likely to feature here unless there is a major injury crisis.
CF- Kevin Davis, 34 year old, ex-heavyweight champion boxer No. 10 Another key player. His goals and hold up play won Kalumba many games and will be hoping to continue his wonderful form and impress at this World Cup which may be his last.
CF- Craig Garden, 28 year old, reliable but not much skill No. 93 Another non-starter and like Malone will struggle to record a further cap to his collection of seven.

Poor Llama's Alamnack

Postby Super-Llamaland » Mon Jul 08, 2013 1:18 pm

The Poor Llama's Almanac is a wonderful book published by some person in his basement. It attempts to predict everything that relates to the country of Super-Llamaland, its regions, and everything else that could pertain to it.

A study done by Talahita College showed that the Poor Llama's Alamanac has a pretty-decent 64% success rate. However, Poor Llama's Almanack predicted a sixth-place finish for the third-place Tigers, and sales of Poor Llama's Soccer Almanac: Edition XIV dipped sharply.

Sandwiched in between the predicted Oceanside playoff results (pg. CCXIV-CCXX) and the Oceanside Basketball League future standings (pg. CCXXV-CCXXXII), you could find the Poor Llama's Almanac guesses for the Cup of Harmony 57. What the Poor Llama had to say on the subject?

Schedule
Sunday, July 14: Match Day 1 - 2v5, 3v4, 1 bye
Monday, July 15: Match Day 2 - 5v3, 1v2, 4 bye
Tuesday, July 16: Match Day 3 - 3v1, 4v5, 2 bye
Wednesday, July 17: Match Day 4 - 1v4, 2v3, 5 bye
Thursday, July 18: Match Day 5 - 4v2, 5v1, 3 bye
Friday, July 19: Round of 16 - A1vB2, C1vD2, D1vC2, B1vA2, E1vF2, G1vH2, H1vG2, F1vE2
Saturday, July 20: Quarterfinals - R1vR2, R3vR4, R5vR6, R7vR8
Sunday, July 21: Semifinals - QF1vQF2, QF3vQF4
Monday, July 22: 3rd Place Playoff - SF1 Loser vs. SF2 Loser
Tuesday, July 23: Final - SF1 Winner vs. SF2 Winner

Cup of Harmony 57

BACKGROUND: The Tigers need to secure a top-two spot to make it to the round of sixteen in their first Cup of Harmony after Taeshan edged them out of second place.

Group F
#90 - Super-Llamaland (10.66 pts.)
#120 - Punum (7.00 pts.)
#54 - Saintland (15.14 pts.)
#94 - The Royal Kingdom of Quebec (10.06 pts.)
#37 - Svengarda (19.75 pts.)

Svengarda

Svengarda, the number-thirty seven team in the world, racked up forty points...and placed third behind other international heavyweights like Paradystopia (40) and Gyatso-Kai (46). For comparision, the third-place Tigers finished with thirty-one. This does not bode well. Svengarda's impact players include goalie Pal Lorsen, midfielder Bern Hermandsson, and striker Truls Waaserson, who has 27 goals in a nice Svengardan career. The team to beat in this group.

Projected Finish: First

Saintland

Saintland is fifty-fourth. They fell in a two-game playoff and did not reach the world cup despite thirty-seven points and second place. They should challenge Svengarda as much as anybody.

Projected Finish: Second

Tigers, Projected Finish: Third

THE OUT OF TOP THREE
The Royal Kingdom of Quebec is barely behind the Tigers and may knock them into fourth. But for as much as a Cup of Harmony participant can be, Punum has an unremarkable seven KPB points. Still, they could surprise and are still a good team.

Failures get to Failure Cup

The Milchama Failures managed to get the consolation trophy package and are now in the Cup of Harmony. MFA head Calvin Chintermantomantomantoman said, "Sorry everybody but at least we fired everybody. We have a new team and we think that they can compete at an international level unlike our last guys. Look we hired a new coach. Also, because I'm immortal you can't fire me. You don't even know what I do."
Unfortunately, all of that is true. New coach, Evan Gornak said, "This is a roster I can get behind. Literally, if we don't win this thing I'm fired so I really like this roster."

By the way, Gornak's expectations are entirely true, even though the qualifying were abject failures winning the consolation trophy would make this World Cup campaign only a massive failure instead of a disastrous one. So that's a plus, sorta. The roster is also, surprisingly, stocked full of females. Gornak said, "Right now the league has more good women playing football at any time. What can I do?" This paper totally agrees. There is nobody on the team who does not deserve a shot.

Anyway, here's the roster. Milchama playing in the traditional 3-3-4 formation, which is +1.

Sündstedrisjh Natjone̊sfotbolmansjibr – Sondsteadish National Football Team
Harmoniyturingjh 57 – Cup of Harmony 57

Against a tough group, Sondstead knew from the get go that it wasn't likely they would put in a spectacular performance by World Cup standards. However, the performance they did put up, over the course of a grueling schedule, was respectable. While still tired going into the Cup of Harmony after their BoF and World Cup qualifiers campaigns, the team made it out with newfound experience at the highest levels of international football and was heartened by a, at the very least, not really terrible 117th rank in the newly updated KPB tables.

The Cup of Harmony (or "Harmoniyturingjh", literally "Harmony Touring", as the linguistic purists at the Förbind fan Sündstedrisjhtälin proclaimed it shall be called in Sondsteadish from henceforth onwards) campaign by the "Red and Green" will not see a huge change in the lineup, even compared to the change between the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifiers. The only change is that Katie Ästerssünr, following her strong performance on the qualifiers pitch, seems to have truly broken in to top flight "Men's" (or, it was men's football until a few weeks ago) football; she will now be on the usual starting lineup whenever Sondstead starts in a 4-3-3 formation. Which, lately, is usually how they start.

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. In the Sanctii version of the 5-2-1-2 formation, the outside backs also function as outside midfielders. Prince Andreas is the twin brother of Prince Josephus, the goalie and captain for the Saintland ice & field hockey team and younger brother of Prince Petrus, quarterback and captain for Saintland's gridiron team. He is the team captain and also functions as the team's playmaker. Ioannes and Nicolaus Poenius are brothers, as are Silvester and Paulus Flaccus, Stephanus and Philippus Vagionius, and Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Inventius is a defensive-minded midfielder. Georgius Catiotus is married to Martha Catiotus (maiden name: Pudentilla), the gold medal winning figure skater from Saintland. Stephanus Vagionius is not an especially fast player, but he is very tall and he is an exceptional finisher. Philippus Vagionius is faster than his brother and just as good at finishing. The Poenius brothers both have world-class speed. When Saintland attacks, typically Prince Andreas has possession of the ball and the Vagionius brothers, the center midfielders and the outside backs all try to get open inside the box, but 1 or 2 of them will usually be left back to defend (never Stephanus Vagionius), except when the situation calls for an aggressive attack. Prince Andreas takes free kicks, corners and throw-ins. Philippus Vagionius will handle penalties. When I have started RPing a match report, I will update my factbook to reflect what happened in the match.

Beaverriver Cup of Harmony Roster

The fans of Beaverriver is disappointed that their team only got 18 points and the 8th position in group 6. It was especially disappointing when they expected to come at least in 6th and they have been promised to get into the top half of the group. They were very optimistic about making the goal after a terrific start with a 5-3 win over Gaveo. They still had optimism even after losing to Metropolis Mania at home. However at the halfway point, the fans thought they had no chance at a world cup and saw little chance in placing in the top half of the table. Some confidence was restored after a 4-4 draw with Gaveo, snapping a losing streak in the process.

At the end they were all disappointed and some are already called for Zach Heckinson to be sacked while others continue to have faith in the new coach. Zach Heckinson promises to perform better in the Cup of Harmony after getting an invite from the hosts, Cassadaigua and Equestrian States. The national team who had several changes from group in world cup qualifying. Even the style of play will change to be a more direct and physical game.

The HorusLandian Soccer Team

World Cup 65

After a great World Cup, HorusLand is back for another tournament, the 57th Cup of Harmony.

HorusLand's third World Cup cycle has not been disappointing, with a fifth place finish in the qualifying group. Though not qualified, this is surely an advancement from our first attempts, getting eighth place in World Cup 61, and seventh place in World Cup 64. We have advanced 53 places, and are now ranked 112th internationally.

The 65th World Cup, hosted by Pasarga and Saugeais, was a great experience for everyone. We've been through some great games, including a 7-2 win against the Fief of Sir Kunne, and we also managed to keep up with the top nations, drawing against three of the four major opponents in Group One.

This year's cycle hasn't been finished yet, though, as our team has been invited to the 57th Cup of Harmony. This Cup includes only 32 teams that haven't qualified for the World Cup, but have had great results nevertheless.

It has been decided not to change any players from the team for this cup. Here is the HorusLandian player list for the 57th Cup of Harmony:

Manager:
Mikheil Kazavian

Coaches:
Aleksandr Peynirci
Eliasz Sokolof

Goalkeepers:
1. Haru Izumi
12. Janko Dragovic

Defenders:
2. Jooseppi Seppänen
3. Zoltan Bako
4. Zahi Alkema
5. Vilhelmi Aalto

8. Santtu Virtanen
9. Kaoru Hamasaki

Coaching Staff

Xíanjí Hatema

Age: 58
Xíanjí is most well known to be one of Nagato Goya's best scoring and most capped players in football history.
He is known as a compassionate but highly disciplined coach. He knows no defeat and strives for perfection within his team, especially on the world stage.
With two World Cups in charge, he surely is the most experienced national team coach for the Kandorese.

Huangzhou Yu

Age: 29
Fresh from Xiangzhou Sapphire's field, the assistant coach looks promising according to the critics and Xíangjí Hatema.
He started his career as coach with a local team and fought his way up to the major domestic league of Kandorith.
He has shown to be calm and understanding, making him the perfect candidate as assistant coach for the national team.

Starting XI

Defence

Goalkeeper

Huajian Kanzo

Age: 21
Length: 196CM
This young goalie started his career at the Jinhuan Wings, to be bought by Nagato Goya.
Witha flawless record between the post for two seasons now.
Huajian is well on his way of becoming a hall of fame goalkeeper, being a great one-on-one defender as a great free kick and corner kick interceptor.

Defence

Kahua Jin

Age: 22
Length: 185CM
Another young gun from Jiexie, he is the captain of the defence; always aware of situations and quick to step in towards any incoming attack.
He is known for his robust but fair tackles; never taking his eye off the ball.

Jin Zexi

Age: 25
Length: 178CM
Known for his quick tackles and saving headers;
this agile defender is a tough one to run away from.
He only has one goal: regaining possession and passing the ball around as quick as possible.

Mitsuharu Eri

Age: 23
Length: 176CM
Mitsuharu, a true defender. He is the man for the pass and the crosses, the tactical link between and in-between the midfield.
He is a great supportive player and a quick runner, with an eye for quick passes or crosses trough the midfield.

Tatemaka Masaki

Age: 22
Length: 177CM
A great young prospect from Jíhúa Reds. A true fullback and back winger.
He is the man who tries to stop all balls from reaching the box.
What he lacks slightly in speed in comparison to the rest of the team;
He makes up in determination, insight of the game and ball control.

Midfield

JieJie

Age: 25
Length: 177CM
Passer, runner and assists; JieJie, another star from Nagato Goya.
He has made his début 3 years ago and has shown many coaches he is the man for the midfield passing and chance creating.
With tactical insight and almost unmatchable running speed he is the winger and the attacking midfielder.

Taiji Moto

Age: 26
Length: 181CM
The Captain, El Commandante, and the elder; Taiji Moto the captain of the Kandorese National Team and the Captain of Nagato Goya.
Experienced, ferocious and quick. He plays mostly defensive but when he sees a goal scoring opportunity or the chance for an assist he won't hold back.
He is one of the links of the chain,to keep that ball passing and keep possession, while steering the team towards a goal.

Kawashi Akira

Age: 22
Length: 176CM
Akira, a true offensive midfielder and a chance creator.
He runs with agility and speed trying to pry himself trough the lines of the opponents.
He is known for amazing shots on goal and free kicks, without any fear of trying to creep a long shot effort into the nettings.

Atasuki Eguchi

Age: 24
Length: 176CM
The true winger of the team, always scanning the sideline; waiting for that pass to push it forward and create a goal chance.
He is a fast and agile runner with great crossing ability.
His most notable love of the game, is giving defenders a hard time by running and crossing when they least expect it.

Strikers

Iichi Fuji

Age: 23
Length: 182CM
The "support" striker. Iichi is the main assist and header in front of goal; his headers are precise, fast and dangerous;
just like this man when he has the ball in front of goal.
He does not aim for the goal, he is the main passer when the 6 yard box gets hot.
A real dribbler and trick passer, leaving the scoring to his fellow strikers or attacking midfielder.

Méng Zeijí

Age: 21
Length: 181CM
The current star of Kandorese football.
This youngster has made his name as goal cannon, never passing the oppertunity to score and when he does see the chance; the ball flies in like a guided projectile.
Also agile and a real dribbler, he loves to run circles around the defence and rocket the ball into a tight corner.
Méng is accurate, calm and controlled, which made him the current top scorer of the Kandorese league.

OOC: For fair RP bonus attribution, most of the characters included on this roster are from the Doctor Who TV Series (and from a couple of Dr. Who books) and are either real, as in play a part in the series, or just random variations but from the species listed in Dr. Who. Some names will come from the members' list of this thread. For more background info, most of the species should be found on Wikipedia; except for Lazarus, for which you need to search for 'The Lazarus Experiment'. For the Raxacoricofallapatorians, search Slitheen. For Silurian, see 'Cold Blood' or 'The Hungry Earth' (followed by Doctor Who if necessary). For Rory, search 'The Pandorica Opens'.

Manager: Rassilon (Species: Time Lord; the first Lord President of Gallifrey, Rassilon created the Eye of Harmony, which gave the Time Lords their time travelling ability. All in all, he became the foundation of Gallifrey, although that may all be just public relations. He had discovered the secret to immortality, but was deposed by rebellious Time Lords, before going into an eternal sleep in the Tomb of Rassilon, located in the Death Zone. Late on in the Time War, he was seemingly brought back to direct the war efforts, but as he was willing to destroy the Time Vortex and thus the whole of creation [in the Whoniverse, if not all universes], to win the Time War, the Doctor time-locked him and the whole of Gallifrey.)
Assistant Manager: Adam Loftus (Normal human, aged 70; returned to the national team after a break of a few World Cups, but has basically been the behind the many managers there have been since the creation of the team back in World Cup 49 [OOC: a bit like Stuart Pearce of England].)
Coach: Sameer Ahmad (Normal human, aged 51; is the older brother of Shabeen, and also has one of the higher goal counts, but has been much eclipsed by his brother's success.)
Coach and Team blogger:Shabeen Ahmad III (Normal Human, aged 49; has scored over 200 goals for the EL national team, and is still an inspiration to everyone, nearly taking the team to the playoffs in World Cup 58, which has his first foray into full management.)

This team were all taken out of their respective time-lines by Time Scoop technology, so where some may be dead by this time, they are alive at this point in space-time. And it was the ELFA who did this, with the help of its inventor, Rassilon.

Goalkeepers:

Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen: Species: Raxacoricofallapatorian (family: Slitheen); refer to as Blon. Was caught impersonating MI5's Margaret Blaine in 2005 (Earth time), where she and her family members were planning to instigate World War III and turn the planet into fissile material, ready to sell. With the plan destroyed by a well-timed Harpoon missile, she managed to escape, but was the only one. She then went on to become Mayor of Cardiff, using a nuclear plant and the Cardiff Rift to attempt to escape. She did, but in doing so regressed into an egg, and was delivered to the hatcheries on Raxacoricofallpatorius for a second chance at life.

The Abzorbaloff: Species: Unknown, but related to Raxacoricofallapatorians (albeit despising them); Originating from Raxacoricofallapatorius' twin planet, Clom, this particular one came to Earth and tricked a group of humans who were searching for the Doctor to join him, but eventually absorbing them all to satisfy his hunger.

Outfielders (Basically, this lot can play anywhere on the pitch apart from in goal):

Strax: He was a Commander for the Sontaran Military, but was disgraced for an unknown reason, and then was forced to become a nurse by the Doctor, to settle a debt. Has since become a member of the Doctor's Victorian London detective team.

Reaper: Species: Reaper; Flying bat-like creatures with scythe-like tails, the Reapers are extradimensional beings, who have the ability to materialise in normal spacetime when a paradox occurs, devouring everything in the area to repair the damage. They can be stopped by material barriers, the older the better, but not permanently, and a paradox on the other side of the barrier will let them through quicker.

Madame Vastra: species: Silurian; Is another of the people who the Doctor a debt, in this case, it is for saving her from a life of crime and hiding out in the early London underground, and she in turn became a veiled Victorian detective. Part of the Doctor's Victorian detective team.

Creet: species: Toclofane/Human (from the year 100 trillion and reduced to live inside metal balls); With the universe on the brink of ending, a group of humans were building a means of escape to "Utopia". With the help of the Doctor, they managed to do so, but only found darkness, and then they cannibalised themselves into this shape. This particular one was a young boy who worked in the sanctuary.

The Doctor: species: Time Lord, age: last confirmed to be 1103 (although he doesn't really know himself). Words cannot describe this man's life, but as for football, he's had "plenty" of experience, having played a match for the King's Arm Pub League Football team and scoring more than two hat-tricks in that single match (and now World Cups 59 through 62 alongside Copa Rushmoris and Cups of Harmony). Plays mainly up front.

Captain Jack Harkness: species: unknown (very humanoid though); Jack grew up on the Boeshane Peninsula as a kid and joined the Time Agency, but quit after a few years, becoming a con man with a Vortex Manipulator (basic time travel). After meeting the Doctor during the Blitz, Jack dies on Satellite 5 in the year 200,000, but is then brought back to life by the Time Vortex, effectively becoming immortal.

Rory the Plastic Centurion: species: Auton, created by the Nestene Consciousness; refer to as Rory; Dressed up in full Roman armour, Rory has had a miserable past, one that has included being killed, followed shortly after by not being born, followed by becoming a plastic duplicate with a full human consciousness. However, he is rather hardened by all this, and also has a gun in his right hand which he won't use, but will still throw himself into anything nothing less than fully committed.

Raston Warrior Robot: species: None, it is a machine; This robot has been called 'the most perfect killing machine ever devised', being able to move faster than lightning and to kill a troop of Cybermen in seconds. Its face is featureless, and its weapons are collapsible and miniaturizable, and so concealed. For the purposes of this campaign, its weapons have been remotely disarmed, but it still moves faster than normal humans can see.

Pyrovile: species Pyrovile; A humanoid being made of pure magma and volcanic rock, Pyroviles are vicious (albeit quite slow), not to mention being about 5 times the height of average humans when fully grown. Pyroviles originated from the planet Pyrovilia, but crash landed on Earth after their home was lost. They grew in the bowels of Mount Vesuvius, giving some of the locals the power of soothsaying. They planned to convert the entire human race to Pyroviles, and in turn create a new Pyrovilia. As a consequence of his magma nature, all match balls will be lined with lead to prevent them from bursting.

Jenny: species: Human/Time Lord hybrid; The Doctor was taken by the TARDIS to Messaline, where a war was raging between humans and fish-like humanoids called Hath. The Doctor then had his hand put into a progenation machine, used to produce clones for the war, and out came Jenny. She was later on killed by a commander who refused to accept the ceasefire, but then came back to life, having died in the presence of a terraforming device. She was last seen blasting off in the rocket, looking for adventure, and now she's here.

Modified Weeping Angel: species: Weeping Angel; modifications: only becomes a statue when opposition player with the ball is looking at it; No information known as of yet.

Professor Lazarus: Species: Severely mutated human (completely not humanoid at times), refer to as Lazarus; Professor Lazarus was eighty-odd years old, but invented a machine which could manipulate a person's DNA and make them younger. The first demonstration nearly catastrophically fails, but Lazarus emerges much younger. However, his DNA was since found to be unstable, and it showed when Lazarus changed into a scorpion-like creature that drained the life energy of other humans in order to keep him young.

Dalek Sec: Species: Human Dalek (Dalek that has taken on a humanoid form); After the Battle of Canary Wharf, the Cult of Skaro, now armed with the knowledge that they were the last Daleks in existence, escaped to 1930's New York, where they planned to recreate themselves in a humanoid form, by merging symbiotically with kidnapped humans deemed to be of superior intelligence. The leader of the cult, Dalek Sec, was the first to do so, merging with the businessman behind the building of the Empire State Building to form a Human Dalek. The remaining pure Daleks stopped the program upon seeing a Sec having emotions.

Silent: species: The Silence; The Silence is a religious order that believes that Silence will fall when the first question, the oldest question in the universe, is put to the Doctor, on the fields of Trenzelor, where no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer. They attempted to bring down the Doctor through an abducted part Time Lord child (no relation to the Doctor), and kill him in a still point, thus creating a fixed point. But they failed.

Captain Tybo: Species: Judoon; refer to as Tybo; Is a Juddoon captain who crashed on Earth whilst transporting the Juddoon's most wanted criminal, Androvax the Destroyer, wanted for 12 counts of planetary destruction.

Vashta Nerada swarm: species: Vashta Nerada; The are microscopic organisms, which when swarming are completely indistinguishable from shadows, and being highly carnivorous, this plays into their hands. These Vashta Nerada number about 3,000,000, but are compacted into a humanoid form, for fairness. After a Kinitar player had his leg chewed off, the vashta nerada that played in that cup have been swapped for a vegetarian and pescetarian swarm (so fish people/giant vegetables beware).

Home stadium: Lodger City Memorial Stadium (cap. 150,000)
The national stadium of Eastfield Lodge since it was built not too long ago, it was built on the ruins of the old Lodger City, the former capital of Eastfield Lodge which was completely devastated by a nuclear disaster and floods within minutes of each other. It stands as a symbol of a new life, now even more prevalent after a horrible civil war and what not. But the new city has now become the footballing capital of Eastfield Lodge after some of the biggest teams moved in after Dillvill declared independence.

Because I can't be bothered to make a factbook, information about Eastfield Lodge can be found here, although some of it will be out of date. Including the facts that Dillvill declared independence and went back to normal reality, as did half the country's empire. And the fact that we are now located somewhere in Rushmore.

The Karditan Robber Barons

Soccer is illegal in Karditan (though gaining a larger underground support, largely thanks to the national team qualifying for WC63). Thus, this is a team of criminals and corrupt businessmen. All players with no further notation are human.

Starting 11

Goalkeeper- Emanuel Portico. One of the most successful petty thieves in all of Karditan (as well as being surprisingly worldly, having spent several years hiding abroad), he is incredibly agile and specializes in predicting the movements of adversaries. While his reflexes are starting to dull as he progresses into his thirties, he's still an extremely skilled shot-stopper, having been the second-best keeper during WC63 qualification (let's not talk about WC63 itself, or WCQ64). Happily married to Sweet Swing.

Left Back- Xavier Helm. A man oddly obsessed with the middle ages, he's suspected of several sword-, bow-, crossbow-, and trebuchet-related deaths. He swears that only the trebuchet ones were his fault, as he was still trying to figure out how a sexton worked. The rest he apparently just uses to hunt. Mostly deer, but it's not odd for him to bag the occasional mountain lion or bear. Plays in his full suit of armor, which slows him down (but not as much as might be expected. He's been training in that armor for a long time) but makes him much more intimidating.

Center Back- Porfirio Mendoza. The commissioner of the Karditani Baseball League, Porfirio is a true sportsman who can appreciate any sport. He honestly does not understand the abhor the rest of Karditan has for soccer, and hopes to improve the sport's reputation. He's also a brilliant strategist, heading up one of the best defenses in the world.

Center Back- Dust Pan. [Unicorn] The head janitor in Silveen Eleco's Fillydelphia estate (see below), he is incredibly quick and maneuverable--taken from years of experience darting through needlessly elaborate hallways and corridors to fix any problems that appeared anywhere on the massive grounds.

Right Back- Red Trotski. [Earth Pony] An infamous public speaker hailing from Moscolt. Hated pretty much universally for his vocal support of Communism, but isn't actually a criminal. Karditani free speech laws are pretty lenient. He has been known to make foals cry.

Defensive Midfielder- Havr Milosivek. A freelancer who spends most of his time roaming the streets of Moscolt, Havr is a generally amiable guy who isn't afraid to smash a few shins if you push his buttons the wrong way. If his Russian accent gets thick enough that you can barely understand what he's saying, you should probably stay away from him; but that doesn't happen too often. Will sometimes have to leave the pitch temporarily to respond to calls from his cousin Roman.

Midfielder- Yong-Hu Cho. Leader of the largest Triad in Neighpon. A bit of an amateur in organized crime when compared to Korzado and Carnac (see the spoiler), but still not a man you want to cross--he is far more focused on revenge and overt displays of superiority than the other two (which is very amateurish in a crime boss). Probably the most likely of the starting eleven to get red-carded. Also skilled at crossing.

Forward Midfielder- Sweet Swing. [Earth Pony] The one member of the Robber Barons who is neither a criminal nor a bad person. She's the daughter of famous Karditani golfer Tyre McIron, and happily married to Emanuel Portico. On the pitch, she's a very dynamic player, being able to fulfill most roles whenever the situation calls for it.

Forward- Lightning Heart. [Buffalo] A bison with a bad temper. Really, that's it. More assault & battery convictions than you can shake a horn at. Isn't very swift, but few people will want to be in his way if he gets up to speed.

Forward- Mario Cansetta. One of the higher-ups in Korzado's organization (see the spoiler), Mario is in charge of collecting protection fees in Sinsinatti as well as organizing the official unofficial street racing league of Karditan. He's generally good-natured (he tries to convince his clients to pay their fees because he genuinely doesn't want to beat them a new one), and is fiercely competitive. He'll take some bad shots, but it's damn hard for defenders to keep up with him.

Striker- Richard Bunson. The recently-ascended heir of a multi-billionaire oil tycoon and rumored chronic arsonist, Bunson is not a nice man. Not outright mean, but he'd walk past a crying child without a second thought. He's also 7'1", having been a star basketball prospect until the bottom fell out of Karditan's major basketball leagues, so he's a rather big target up front. More coordinated than his lanky appearance might suggest, he's very good in the air.

Manager- Morrgo-Gerrna Thunder. [Bear] A former footballer and manager from Bears Armed, Morrgo-Gerrna was caught up in a technicality of the law and needs to spend some time outside the reach of the authorities. What better way for her to safely stay on the lam while also continuing her passion for football than managing the best criminal squad (and the second-best not-entirely-humanoid squad) in the multiverse?

Offensive Coach- Korzado. [Zebra] One of the few Zebras in Karditan, Korzado runs the Illineigh Mafia. His influence can be found in almost every successful business venture in the city, as well as many in Detrot and Sinsinatti. A legion of all types of creatures serve him, and he might be the only being richer than Eleco (see below) in Karditan--but he doesn't flaunt his wealth like Eleco does. Almost all of it is re-invested, whether in businesses or bribes.

Defensive Coach- Carnac Carson. The biggest personality in Karditani crime, Carnac is the guy you go to when you need a hookup. Everyone who is anyone has grabbed a beer with him at one point or another. Is rumored to have some future-telling powers.

Financier- Silveen Eleco. The Man in Karditan. He runs Eleco Industries, the largest company in Karditan's largest industry--Electronics. He inherited the moderately-sized business from his father, Sylvester, and grew it to enormous proportions with brilliant economics and some underhanded business practices. He organized the Robber Barons and put together their entry into the World Cup, maintaining a large role on the running of the team though he no longer plays.

The transfer window was thirty seconds from ending.
There were a couple of surprise ones at the end, of course. There always were. Looked good for the newspapers.
Gretel Raynor, Parrhesia United scout, was staring at the live feed. The most recent, a minute ago, had been Moira Gorrister from Raging Fire to Cranequin Wanderers. A reasonable transfer; Cranequin would need a goalkeeper for next year, Gorrister was okay, it was pretty obvious.
Twenty-seven seconds out; Karl Finnan moves from Echidnan Teutonica to Crisisbless for a million. A replacement for Rook Harm, and about bloody time, too. No surprises, though; anyway, it'd been strongly suspected for a while now.
Twelve seconds. Bennett Hacken to Franchise FC. Who the fuck was Bennett Hacken?
Ten seconds. Okay, surely nobody would go for anyone now, I mean, slipping on the mouse could jeopardise the transf-
Seven seconds.
Josephus Flaccus.
To South Laithland.
...
What the fuck?
---------------------------------------------
"You are now entering Treason airspace. Thanks for travelling with BavariAir!"
Josephus Flaccus glanced at the map. New Sideburn was a sprawling morass of choked, crowded cities with dysfunctional and inefficient street planning, generally written off as 'characterful'.
In other words, nothing at all like Saintland.
Perfect.
The Laith itself was the only good soil in the country. It was incredibly fertile, and infested with incredibly dangerous predators. The Laithlanders were an incredibly tough and hard-bitten people, and they took pride in their massive stocks of firearms.
Farms didn't interest Josephus Flaccus, though. It was the cities that captured his attention. A free, uncensored internet. Legalised brothels, and something called 'decriminalised marijuana' he'd have to investigate.
Two people were there to greet him at the airport. One was Nayland, the scout, the other a woman introducing herself as Morgan Cheswick; captain of the club.
"Andreas Krieg - he's the manager - is currently sorting out details with the other new signings," said Nayland apologetically. "I'll take you straight to the clubhouse - most people will be there within a couple of days. The people that live nearby will stick to their houses until training half the time, but for people that don't it's more efficient for them to stay in the doss."
They took a large, impressive car that handled corners very badly to the clubhouse. It, and the stadium, were both two and a half hours out from Treason, in a town called Dross. "Appropriate name," said Morgan, drily. "It's practically defined by the stadium... Lord knows it has nothing else."
Josephus bit back his deeply-held instinct to chide her for using the Lord's name in vain. You couldn't just unlearn that kind of instinct. The Church hammered it into your head from birth. Instead, he settled for marvelling at how this, which was a perfectly normal town by his standards, was apparently tiny, sparse and insignificant in New Sideburn.
Nayland pulled up outside an unremarkable grey building. "C'mon, Joe. Let's meet the team."

"So I tell the guy, right-"
"Yeah?"
"So I tell him I take my lamps the way I take my women; cheap, dim and easily clipped on to nearby surfaces."
"... What?"
Mercifully, before Bill Montague could butcher an already bad joke even further, the door opened. Damian Shrewe, goalkeeper and unfortunate punchline recipient, stood up.
"Here, it's Flaccus, right?"
Other people glanced up, in various degrees of hostility. Most were simply curious, but a few (predominantly female) were openly carrying grudges.
Josephus became painfully aware of the fact that the Sideburnese temperament was not one of the things Saintland propaganda had exaggerated. He decided to defuse the situation, however, by taking it head-on.
"Hello. My name is Josephus Flaccus, and I will be playing for this club in 331 NSR. I hope we enjoy many successful years together."
The Sideburnese stared. At last, Damian Shrewe said, warily, "You don't listen to that pop church choir shit, right?"
"No."
The keeper shrugged, and extended a hand. "Then I'm sure we'll get on just fine."

OOC Note: Really hope I accurately represented Saintland in this. Joe Flaccus used with Saintland's permission.

King Paulus XV's Statement

Greetings to all of my subjects. I am joining you today on the Royal Networks to address certain recent events involving a member of the National Soccer Team. As you are undoubtedly aware, Josephus Flaccus, formerly a midfielder for the National Soccer Team, has defected to New Sideburn and signed a contract with a professional club in their league. Effective immediately, I have ordered the removal of Mr. Flaccus from the National Soccer Team and I have ordered my Government to conduct a thorough investigation.

Josephus Flaccus left the Kingdom yesterday on a flight to Acedonia. During the break between the end of the playoffs and the start of the Cup of Harmony, it was my desire that someone from my Kingdom's National Soccer Team visit that city-state on a scouting trip. I wanted to know which Acedonian players deserved inclusion on the Olympic side. At the Olympics, I had set a goal of winning the gold medal in soccer and a second goal of determining whether some of the young stars from our Kingdom or even some of the Acedonians deserved a spot on the team for the next World Cup. Flaccus had volunteered to go to Acedonia on this scouting trip. Upon his arrival, he immediately got on a flight to New Sideburn, where he was announced as a signing for South Laithland AFC, a professional soccer team in that nation.

As many of you are probably aware, in many foreign nations the most physically gifted young men are actually paid to play sports. Not only are they paid, but they are actually paid far more than what those nations pay their productive workers. In countries such as New Sideburn, the only men who make more money than athletes are speculators, who cheat people out of their money in a glorified casino known as the "stock market," and CEOs, whose job involves managing businesses on behalf of the speculators. Many foreign nations also pay out lavish salaries to actors for their roles in movies. Why they would pay outrageous amounts of money to somebody for a job that anybody can do is beyond me, but such are the ways of foreigners.

With the defection of Josephus Flaccus, there is a spot open for the National Soccer Team. After consulting with my son Andreas, I have appointed Philippus Vagionius to fill the 18th spot on the National Soccer Team's roster. Soon, they will travel to either Cassadaigua or the Equestrian States to compete in the Cup of Harmony. Either way, I will be sending several hundred of the best-trained Royal Army soldiers with the team, to ensure the safety of the team and prevent further defections. Likewise, I have also increased the security detail for the upcoming world championships of handball, beach soccer and 12-man gridiron. Should any hosts object to my decision to send larger security forces, I will not hesitate to withdraw our Kingdom from those events.

The defection of Josephus Flaccus comes just hours after a substantial number of women and children defected to the Licentian Islands. In an act of bad faith, the government of the Licentian Islands offered a blanket "asylum" to anybody from my Kingdom that wished to defect. Members of Feministvs Sanctvsterra and Vindicta Progressvm assisted several hundred runaway wives out of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, I must also report that there was an escape from the St. Paulus reform school and it is believed that the escaped delinquents took advantage of the "asylum" in the Licentian Islands.

I regret to inform everybody that I am forced to re-evaluate our future participation in international sports. In these past few months, our participation in international sports has endangered the safety of our athletes, exposed my subjects to indecently clothed women and has made it easier for foreigners to aid and abet terrorist organizations within my Kingdom. I assure everybody that we will finish our existing obligations, provided the hosts do not object to our decision to expand the security force. For the duration of the Cup of Harmony, I have decreed a blanket ban on travel to or from Cassadaigua and the Equestrian States. Only the National Soccer Team and their security force will be permitted to visit either of those nations. Once there, they will be required to stay in their hotel rooms whenever they are not practicing or competing in a match.

I have also decided to order my Government to stop work on our application to enter the upcoming Olympics until further notice. Until I have made my decision regarding our future participation in international sports, the Kingdom of Saintland will not be signing up for any additional international sports events. I am making this decision after consulting with the Patriarch. The Patriarch advised me to commission a full investigation into what happened and study the evidence regarding the effect of our involvement in international sports on the morals of our Kingdom and of other nations. Once we finish acquiring evidence, I will look over the evidence with the Patriarch and we will come to a decision. Until then, I want to thank everybody for watching my speech today and I hope to have better news soon.

(OOC: Now with updated CoH goodness.)

Kinitaria National Football Team
For the 57th Cup of Harmony
Image

Four consecutive playoff defeats have caused ominous mutterings amongst Kinitaria's football fans. But the Federation is impatient, and will be demanding a solid performance in the Cup of Harmony to reassure themselves and their fans that their team is still capable of competing at the top levels.

Manager: Melody Pond (age 34)
Here is the one to guide the hopes of a nation - Jeruselem's Melody Pond. The reserved but capable manager has guided her Jeru FC team to a World Cup qualification, and Kinitaria are desperately hoping for her to repeat the feat with the boys in blue. A disastrous Cup of Harmony has given fuel to those who opposed her appointment, and she has work to do to win over the doubters.
Pond favours attacking play, and is very much in tune with the physical side of the game, a management style which Kinitar fans will be sure to take to. She's known to prefer a laidback, hands-off approach to management which could go either way with regards to some of the egos in the Kinitaria side. The team has acquired a "perennial flops" tag - can they shake that off in the Cup of Harmony?

Players
After being widely criticised for experimenting with her team's formations in crucial games, it looks like a standard 4-4-2 for Melody. But she's lost some crucial players ahead of the World Cup, age forcing some former stars to retire from international football.

1. Costin Petran - GK - age 37 - 1. Maja - 163 caps - 0 goals
Petran has been here from the start, keeping guard in Kinitaria's successful Baptism of Fire campaign ten years ago from the start of qualifying. Goalkeepers will peak between 32 and 35, according to most conventional football wisdom, so fans will be hoping that Pond has based her loyalty to Petran on concrete foundations. Making his final bow for the Kinitar side - he will never play in the World Cup.

2. Karl Sala - LB - age 32 - Mi'ato - 135 caps - 2 goals
Sala has been an established member of the team right from their first game. An old-fashioned sort of left-back, he aims to make life hard for oncoming attackers, and will always stand his ground, although he's now not as fast as he once was. He has been known to put in some harsh tackles, and this is shown by his disciplinary record, since he's been sent off eight times in his national career.

3. Doran Lupei - CB - age 32 - Litora United - 140 caps - 4 goals (Captain)
The loyal, talented defender is great at marking, sticking closely to his man and breaking up attacks through the middle. He's proven himself to be the anchor of a Kinitar back line which has often been criticised for being fragile, and his performance will likely be crucial if the defence are to stick together and work as a unit. He's earned the captain's armband for both club and country through his loyalty, sticking with Litora United at a time when the club was going into meltdown.

4. Sebastien Sykora - CB - age 33 - AFC Damaciu - 130 caps - 3 goals
Maybe not the most technically gifted of defenders, Sykora has nevertheless established himself as a regular in the national side. He's no stranger to the occasional error, having cost Kinitaria crucial goals on at several occasions in his career, and was part of the Damaciu side which slipped down the league in the latter half of last season. Despite this, he is versatile and can drift into new positions as needed, and he has also been known to notch a few goals himself, mainly headed efforts from corners.

5. Anton Spirlea - RB - age 31 - Mi'ato City - 141 caps - 0 goals
Rounding off the veteran defence is an accomplished team player who is well capable of performing under pressure. Spirlea is known for his excellent distribution of the ball, able to pick out a team-mate and start a counter attack with ease. He never panics when pressed and prefers to play his way out of trouble rather than hoofing the ball upfield. It's very rare to see him make a mistake and if he does have a flaw, it would be that he tends to let his complacency get the better of him.

6. Sergiu Vacarestič - LW - age 30 - Avnani Athletic - 131 caps - 26 goals
Vacarestič is now one of the first names on the teamsheet, despite a shaky start to his Kinitaria career. He is an attacking-minded winger who slots perfectly into Kinitaria's formation, and he's just as likely to cut inside and have a go at goal as well as sending in a cross from the left - preferring to cross early and attempt to beat the offside trap.

7. Samuel Costica - CM - age 27 - Inovita - 48 caps - 3 goals
He's made a strong and consistent impact on the national team since being brought through from the youths in the 62 qualifiers, and now he's been rewarded for years of good service with a spot in the first team and the number seven shirt. Expect him to try to use his pace to beat his marker before spreading the ball out wide to launch an attack. Distribution is definitely one of his strong points.

8. Kristijan Preda - CM - age 33 - Jan Mayen Islanders (PIS) - 121 caps - 22 goals
Preda is an accomplished free-kick taker and can also head a ball well. After some time in the wilderness, he fought to work his way back into the first-team, and has impressed both Melody Pond and Kinitaria's fans with some shining performances, often being the only light in the Kinitar squad at a time when the national team has been putting in some pretty dismal performances.

9. Milan Beskid - CF - age 29 - Universita Tirinthea - 52 caps - 11 goals
The talented striker can finish like no other and functions best with a strike partner to spur him on to greater heights. He's not one for spectacular goals, instead, he's a consistent threat to opposition defences if he gets so much as a sight of goal within the penalty area. He's been handed the number nine shirt for the upcoming campaign, now it's down to him to prove that he deserves to keep it.

10. Luka Sabčot - CF - age 34 - Mi'ato City - 153 caps - 97 goals (Vice-captain)
Kinitaria's famous talisman is really ageing at this point. He doesn't have that extra yard of pace, the one spark of magic, that he was once able to produce, and he's probably only got the number ten shirt for sentimental value, plus his long-term strike partner Mihalcič has retired from international football, citing his age. Another Kinitar legend who will probably never reach the World Cup finals.

11. Duska Avramov - RM - age 35 - FC Serenberg - 55 caps - 7 goals
Having been thrown in at the deep end, Avramov has impressed consistently in the national team. He is an offensively-minded player, great with crossing, even scores a few, but he's not the most reliable if called upon to defend. He fits nicely into a traditional Kinitar attacking system and, after proving himself in the past, will be looking to keep up this run of form during the next few matches.

12. Jaren Kozak - GK - age 33 - Mi'ato - 4 caps - 0 goals
Kozak is a decent keeper, he's yet to reach his peak, and he's helped his club Mi'ato to three straight top-two finishes. However, he hasn't been able to get a look-in for the national team thanks to Kinitaria's staunch refusal to rotate their goalkeeper. He'll grab his chance if he can get it, but there's a good chance that it won't come this cycle.

13. David Topol - CB - age 26 - Mi'ato - 11 caps - 0 goals
Following an impressive breakthrough in the Premier Division, Topol has earned his place in the national team. He's not the tallest of players, but he makes up for it in determination and technical ability. He's remarkably calm under pressure, and is one for the big games - he'll be desperate to convince Pond to give him a chance to prove himself.

14. Navra Kulisev - CF - age 21 - Mi'ato - 4 caps - 0 goals
Pond will have looked at her ageing squad and decided that she needs to plan for the future. That's certainly what she's doing in the form of Kulisev, who is one of the young talents of Kinitaria's Premier Division, and burst onto the scene with three-time champions Mi'ato in recent times. He might be thrown in at the deep end if Kinitaria get desperate.

15. Himo Kazran - CM - age 20 - FC Serenberg - 5 caps - 0 goals
Kazran has impressed for his team, and is currently being chased by some of Kinitaria's top clubs. They obviously rate him highly, and Melody Pond agrees, having drafted him into the national team at short notice following the retirement of Cyril Novak from international play. A strong and bulky midfielder, but often a careless one, he needs some work to hone him into a proper national team player yet.

16. Marko Kuzinov - RB - age 30 - Universita Tirinthea - 6 caps - 0 goals
Uncapped for the AOCAF, but he's certainly impressed Pond in that tournament, and she will be looking to Kuzinov as a pillar in defense, something which Kinitaria's notoriously leaky back line has lacked in recent years. He's an old-fashioned sort of defender who fits in very well with the traditional Kinitar style of play, and he has the disciplinary record to prove it.

17. Zenel Halil - RW - age 27 - Mi'ato City - 19 caps - 1 goal
The tricky winger burst into the national consciousness following a run of form - and quite a few goals - in Mi'ato City's title-winning season. Now, after being drafted into the national side, he will be looking for opportunities to make his mark at a higher level. Most observers agree that Halil has a successful career ahead of them, but it remains to be seen if he can live up to the hype.

18. Ciprian Marin - CB - age 29 - East Franz Athletic (PIS) - 57 caps - 0 goals
Another former youth team player who has significantly impressed fans and manager alike since being given a chance in the 62 qualifiers. He stands up to onrushing attackers and uses his strength to win the ball. He has a tendency to dive into rash challenges and still has a lot to learn before becoming an established squad player.

19. Birka Sulemcev - LB - age 24 - AFC Damaciu - 1 cap - 0 goals
The tradition of the Kinitar game is for hard, physical play, and that's definitely what Melody Pond was looking for when she called Sulemcev up to the national side. A real tough left-back, he's known as a dogfighter back at his club for his persistance and constant physical presence in all areas of the game. He's hard but fair in the tackle - unless he gets carried away.

20. Leon Cantacuzino - LM - age 33 - Litora United - 70 caps - 16 goals
Once a superb squad player, Cantacuzino has faded somewhat in recent years. When he plays, he'll be the team's corner taker, since he can swing in a good ball from either the left or the right. He prefers to stay wide, use the flanks and cross from the byline, and he can do this very effectively to slice open an opposing defence. Still Kinitaria's super-sub, in a way. He can change the direction of a game almost single-handedly.

21. Malen Elkinič - CM - age 21 - Mi'ato - 8 caps - 0 goals
Elkinič broke through into the Mi'ato team recently, providing a spark of life during the team's dismal 3477 season. A product of their youth academy, pace is his strong point, which is something Kinitaria have been lacking in recent years. He probably won't set the world alight immediately, but look out for him in the future. He's got the world at his feet, if he uses his opportunities right, and did impress during his brief appearances in qualifying.

22. Dalča Nurmanov - FW - age 31 - Fryi Frêndê (FFD) - 29 caps - 6 goals
After being frozen out of the squad for some time, a range of impressive games in the Premier Division brought him back to the squad and secured a big-money move to Farfadillis. He's put in a good claim for a first-team place in some previous matches, and with a run of form in the qualifiers, he could be well on his way to an established squad place.

23. Doriel Azinovič - GK - age 30 - AFC Damaciu - 0 caps - 0 goals
There's no denying that Azinovič is a capable keeper, but... what does a third-choice keeper actually do? I think they're just there to take up space. Moving swiftly on...

Kits
ImageImageImage

As ever, Kinitaria keep the same kits throughout a cycle.
Left (home): A smart new blue and yellow effort that looks set to become a fan favourite.
Center (away): In honour of it being ten years since Kinitaria's first and only international trophy, the 47th Baptism of Fire, this kit has one and a half eyes on the one worn in that final.
Right (goalkeeper): Keeper Costin Petran wears a striking red and black outfit.

Kinitar fans burning flares in a Cup of Harmony game

Kinitar fans are known for their passion. They're also known for burning down a significant portion of the Tricorn Arena in Wight during the Cup of Harmony 53, although the FFK has naturally disavowed all responsibility, and supporters' groups maintain that the shoddy construction of the host stadium was to blame. Either way, lighting flares is a part of fan culture in Kinitaria, and there's always the possibility that a Kinitaria goal will turn the air thick with smoke. During the match, the team are typically roared on by 70,000 home fans screaming themselves hoarse non-stop throughout the game, which creates an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams - although the fact that the aforementioned flares, among other things, are sometimes thrown at visiting players or fans might also contribute to this. The fights which characterise some of the most fierce club matches, such as the cross-capital derby between hated rivals Mi'ato City and Mi'ato, have yet to make their way to international level, although some say that this is merely because they haven't found the right spark yet. The FFK has been somewhat reluctant to take action against such matters, because "it's all part of the game, isn't it?"

On Jerous Manalo's reign
Roman Barlaan and Edric Conciso

Sangti has changed its managerial post after Jerous Almirante finally lost patience with Jerous Manalo and was sacked at the aftermath of the Sondstead game. Manalo still took charge of the squad until the Wight game at Baoyam, his hometown, and he was replaced by Jaime Faltado, who took CD Viocla into fourth place in the recent LFS Sangti season. Let's look back at what happened during his reign.

Club Glory
Before the national team job, he was then manager of Racing Xinghua Baoyam. his local club. He led the Los Azulblancos to five Canton League championships, and one Superliga crown in 2012. Due to his acheivements with the club, he was hired by Almirante to take over the Sangti job.

Start and Market Cup Woes
He prepared for the Market Cup with a home-and-home series against Lzherruskia, with a 0-0 draw and a 1-0 win. Sangti had a good first half of the Market Cup, beating Punun and Gaveo, and 6 points after three matches. But a second half collapse saw them booted out of the competition at the final matchday with a loss to Gaveo.

Retribution or Another Woe?
After the Market Cup, Sangti prepared for the Baptism of Fire, winning the Sangti Invitational and some friendly wins. Their Baptism of Fire campaign however got to a rocky start thanks to a 1-0 loss to the Nouvel Ecosse. There was a glimmer of hope when two 3-0 wins put them to 16th place, the last spot for the round of 16. A draw with Neu Engollon and a loss to eventual champion Aels made another lowly exit for the Agilang Dilaw.

World Cup Hopes
Sangti was drawn in Group 16, with Wight, Saintland, and Jedi8246 among others. They started not so brightly, with their first win coming in matchday 4. However, there was hope as Sangti won 3 of their last four games to be in 6th place at the end of the first half, and what happened?

Another Collapse
Sangti lost 3 of their next 4 matches, and it was decided that time is up for Jerous Manalo, after another hapless 3-0 loss against Sondstead. He played his last match at Baoyam, in his hometown, against Wight.

Edric had the courage to compile the stats during Manalo's reign.
Stat P W D L	GF	GA	GD	Pts	Win Pct
All Matches 39 15 12 12 41 39 +2 57 38.46%
Competitive* 22 8 5 9 21 23 -2 29 34.78%
Friendlies 17 7 7 3 20 16 +4 28 41.18%
*competitive matches are only those competitions organized by the World Cup Committee (World Cup, Cup of Harmony and Baptism of Fire)

For a newcomer like Sangti, the stats are actually good under Manalo, and many people would ask questions on why he was sacked. The fact that they only won 35 percent on competitive matches is telling.

So it is a question of whether the FAS made the right decision to sack Manalo or if Jaime Faltado was the right man to lead the Agilang Dilaw in the Cup of Harmony. Right now including friendlies, he had a win percentage of 25%, a win over Gregoryisgodistan, 2-0.

This tournament may not be a coming out party for Faltado, but whatever happens in this Cup, they will be competitive and they will beat the odds to perform well in this tournament.

TEAM OVERVIEW
With the team unable to fulfill their target to qualify for the World Cup proper at its 65th cycle and on their 9th appearance in the qualifiers, Janette was dismissed from her managerial position at the end of her contract. This also marked the end of Janette's four cycles stint with the Lions, as she brought in successes and endured hardships with many of the fans and players. With the end of her era, Sir Moros Alexander, formerly the Mapletish Sports Federation President and a successful coach in multiple sports is given the caretaker role for the Lions as the Lions heads to the 57th Cup of Harmony. Sir Alexander was known to have produced miracles with many different teams in many sports, however it might still remain as a real unknown if he can lead the Lions towards a successful Cup of Harmony campaign under his charge till the Mapletish FA finds a replacement for Janette.

Manager: Sir Moros Alexander, 76 (Caretaker Manager)
Sir Moros Alexander, namely the coach of many sports, having taken the Mapletish team under his charge before the Lions' international debut in the 44th Baptism of Fire. Responsible for three URA Cup of Nations titles under his charge with the national team, there has been a connection between the two after Alexander left the national team in the hands of Patterson for their international debut. Alexander has been an influential figure in the coaching world having coached football teams, hockey teams, rugby teams and many other teams in his 56 years coaching career, starting out as a young, unknown coach in his 20s, building his coaching profile along the way. His notable moments could be Golden Phoniex's historical treble in his first season breaking Home United's foothold in the league and Heywood City's double two seasons later in the Premier League. Known for his slicker for discipline on the training ground, creative match tactics and experimental plays, he could bring something out of the current squad in the Cup of Harmony.

Assistant Manager: Muain Newtons, 49
Muain Newtons, most notably winning the Minnow Cup for the Mapletish squad in his debut international managerial tournament with the Lions. He was at the helm of the Lions for quite awhile and brought the Lions towards their first World Cup playoffs in World Cup 61, while also being responsible for the Lions' climb in the world rankings too. He was however dismissed after a disappointing World Cup 62 campaign in which he failed to bring World Cup football for the Mapletish side. His dismissal had caused much debate however it was justified as the squad's performance went downhill with a terrible Copa Rushmori showing that saw them knocked out at group stage, their worst performance. Three cycles down and he is now back on board with Sir Moros Alexander, after being at the national youth development programmes. It is now his bid to help Alexander in the Cup of Harmony.

First-Team Coach: Isabel Calixta, 28
Goalkeeper Coach: Angelina Tina , 22
Physio: Asunción Irisa, 29
Team Doctor: Fionola Morna, 30

The Buio'Dzz
Before every match, the team members (including the designated substitutes for the match) will perform a traditional ritual, called the Buio'Dzz on the pitch just before play begins. This is one of the many tribe war dance from the aboriginals of Mapletish, meant to awe their opponents, this is similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' haka before their matches. This would be performed unless the hosts of the match in question object to the ritual. The Buio'Dzz is also performed by the Rugby teams before their match, it is also done by the field hockey team before their match.

Starting XI

[ 1 ] - GK - Sapphire Avalon - Age 24- New Portland Rovers
The first choice keeper of New Portland Rovers, she was handed her chance to play in the World Cup 62 qualification campaign, with the introduction of female players into the squad to put in some "feminine energy" with more careful passes instead of risky passes that often went out of play and losing procession. Sapphire proved to be firm on her feet in front of goal as a gymnastic enthusiast as she put in highly acrobatic saves and reliable on goal. Sapphire has proven to be a reliable shot-stopper on the international stage proving to be a solid player in the squad wearing the number one shirt for the Lions.

[ 2 ] - DR - Florence Vivian - Age 21 - Struggait United
Often seen bombing down the right wing in support of the forwards or being the extra man in front to relieve the pressure off the shoulders of the midfielders whether is it in her club or for her nation. Her speed has been unmatched by other players in the Women's Premier League and her presence in the Mapletish's defensive wing would prove important in the absence of the many right wing defenders upon the selection rounds.

[ 3 ] -DC - Alessendra Vito - Age 28 - Balmope Betis
The heart of the defence for club and country, after failing to impress the national managers throughout his playing career, he was selected for the World Cup 65 qualifiers now under Janette. A leading player for his club, his excellent marking ability and defending ability impressed Janette while on a visit to Balmope Betis proved his worth to be in the national team, aggressiveness seem to be on his books and he won't let a forward go past him that easily.

[ 4 ] - DC - Jaimie Lim - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
The thought of a female player in the defences with only a few years in professional football and almost zero experience in playing against men, that was the idea of what Jaimie gave the fans when she was first call up to the squad for the World Cup 62 qualification. Fast, agile and a good vision in her playing style. Despite not being the John Davis kind of player where tackling and speed are key to his game, Jaimie breaks the image of a traditional Maplish centre back with tackling being one of her weakness in play but her passes and clearances are one of the niche of her game to cover up for the lack of tackling that she is putting in. An energiser in the defence, she has proven to be an effective defender.

[ 5 ] - DL - Chong Mei Kei - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A hugely dynamic presence in the defence in club, Mei Kei played her way towards New Portland after starting abroad awhile back, her huge promise and untapped potential mostly from the prospect of playing in the youth squads overseas impressed then manager Muain Newtons. He wasn't wrong in his selection though as she put in the effort and proved critics wrong. During the World Cup 62 qualification campaign she repaid the fate shown in her by Muain Newtons and earned a starting spot after a consistent performance during the preparation phrase of the qualification campaign. On her second selection by Janette in the WC 63 qualification, she showed maturity in her play as she repaid Janette for putting trust into her as she remained as the left-back for Janette throughout the campaign and in the Cup of Harmony that followed.

[ 6 ] - RDM - Jessie Leons - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
Another promising female player from New Portland Rovers, a converted and all rounded player of her time and one of the youngest, she takes a liking on the legendary female player of all time, Maria Sarah, who was also an all round player of her kind. Used as a forward by Muain Newtons because of her speed and physical game despite being a female, she was also nominated for the Cup Of Harmony 54 Goal Of The Tournament. A calm reader of the game and experience playmaker for her age, it was later decided that Jessie should be positioned at the lower half of the pitch to get the full view of the game, in which she was able to perform to her greatest potential during training sessions and it was proven with performances improving gradually. A change in position did not however hinder her chances in front of goal, as she set on some game winning performances in the 63rd WC qualification campaign for the Lions.

[ 8 ] - LDM - Di Ai Jing - Age 23 - Struggait United
An inspiring young figure on the pitch for Struggait United. An inspiring captain for the U-21s just a year back for Mapletish, where the Under 21s won the Union Championships under her fine leadership. Ai Jing was put under the mentor-ship of Maria Sarah during her time in the La Ademica, the prestigious youth academy of Home United, where she was developed as a centre midfielder in the middle of the play where passes, passes and more passes go through her. Despite her small frame, her accurate passes and technique often covered her weakness. Straight after her graduation from La Ademica, she joined Struggait United for M$4.5 million, a bargain sale to Struggait United. Putting in consistent performances, she soon caught the eye of Janette where she was given the chance to train with the senior squad and eventually made her way into Janette's teamsheet.

[ 11 ] - CM - Dennis Long - Age 28 - Djax
A driving force in the rise of Djax who are now playing their trade in the Mapletish Premier League after plying their trade in the lower divisions seasons before. Dennis was placed in the front row of many other players in the same position of him. The target man for Djax, he proved to be a very hardworking player often seen staying back after training and putting in the extra effort to train. After a takeover by mega-rich owners, Dennis sees a change in his footballing career as he becomes the highest paid player below the Football League, with a weekly salary of USD$35,000, which may well be the salary ceiling for some Championships clubs in the higher divisions. The most valuable asset of Djax, he is fast and nimble and a dangerous figure in the box, hitting in an amazing 105 goals in 42 games in the Sunday League averaging 2.5 goals every game. The unofficial highest number of goals scored in a single league season, beating Francis Lee's 80 league goals in 38 league matches by goal average and number of goals scored. First call up Olenz Heinz, it all proves to say that Heinz made the right choice of putting Dennis in the squad as he hit in 80% of the goals for Mapletish in CoH 52 as the Lions finished last in the group stage. He has proven to be one of the game changing masters that the Fireykop has been lacking for quite awhile.

[ 10 ] - CAM - Di Natile - Age 27 - Golden Phoniex - VICE CAPTAIN
An inspiring captain for the U-21s in the past, as well as some impressive game changing performances for Muain in the previous World Cup qualification campaign, he was a key member of Golden Phoniex's first Premier League victory as they topped rivals Home United in a seven point thriller. A former member of the prestigious La Ademica, the youth academy of Home United, United must be kicking themselves up for letting Di Natile go for a hefty USD $37.5 million, which came as a bargain for them. Impressive performances at the wing in Muain's set-up, he was converted inwards as an all around attacking midfielder by Janette who can play anywhere up in front. His game changing performance against arch rivals Gyatso-kai could always be remembered as he took on the defences single handed before distributing an important pass to bag an assist. Consistency has always been on his card since his return into the national team and he looks to bring his best out of himself while carrying the team forward.

[ 19 ] - CAM - Diego Alvarez - Age 25 - Lumburg CV
An important figure for Lumburg CV's promotion to the Premier League and an important figure in the Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-20, he is one of the most technically gifted midfielders in his team. Known of some excellent distribution of the ball, with the ability of picking out a team-mate with just a single touch of the ball, this quiet individual can often be seen practicing alone and letting his feet do the talking. However he tends to be a complacent player and a single mistake made in a game would affect his morale for many more matches to come. Not a very complete player in his own opinion, he was capable of making game changing performances under Muain's guidance. He has since improved gradually in his game and has brought forward a dynamic presence in the national team cementing his position in the midfield engine.

[ 45 ] - CF - Alero Junio - Age 28 - Home United - CAPTAIN
The man that single handedly took on defences and one of the most feared player of the Lions, he was in every set up and master plans of all different managers in his Lions' career. The front man of the pack, he is the Lions' goal poacher and main target man in every match, whether is it playing down on the left, right or in the centre of the play, he is always up to task. Modelling the playing style of Francis Lee, the all rounded male legend of Mapletish football, he is faster than he look and he rarely lets the ball slipped out from his foot as he is always close to it. His ability to surprise defenders and scare the opposition keeper with his strong shots are what makes him the most dangerous man in the Lions' squad. The man in front of the five men box and an ever dangerous presence in front of an opponents' goal, he has always been the first choice for any team now taking a heavier responsibility as the captain for the national team.

Reserves

[ 14 ] - GK - Maryam Stephanie - Age 28 - Bury Town Ladies
One of the few experienced goalkeepers in the trade in the Women's team, it was clear that she will stepped up to take the number one spot for the Lions' squad, however her place was challenged by Sapphire Avalon after an injury which gave way to Sapphire. Agile and an excellent reader of the game, she has proven to be an excellent reader after her power goalkicks has proved to turn games around. A player with strong nerves too, she is also a first choice penalty taker, always an option for crucial penalty shootouts that any manager will need in an equally crucial cup tie.

[ 15 ] - UD/DWR - Lina Agnetha - Age 21 - Celtics Rovers
A young player at the back, a leading right back for Celtics Rovers in their title challenge in the Women's Premier League. An energetic and great passer at the back, Lina was seen more as a playmaker rather than a defender, she has also proven to be a wing threat through her strong crosses and dangerous break-ins from the wing. A product of the Celtics' youth academy, she has gone on to play for the Women's Under 21 before her addition to the squad by Janette.

[ 16 ] - DC - Taylor Sadie - Age 28 - Home United
The main female in defence and the current most senior defender in Home United. Mentored by former national defender Cecilia Maddalena, Taylor was brought into the game at a comfortable rate under Cecilia as she gained experience on the pitch. Known for her rampant tackles, whether is it standing or sliding, and her aggressiveness in marking any forward or winger that comes her way. It is no doubt that even male players would find it difficult to get past her. A decent successor of Cecilia.

[ 18 ] - UD/DL - Adela Lynette - Age 27 - Djax
A utility defender who can play anywhere at the back, with a more preferred position as the right back, Adela played her way through the youth academy of Djax before featuring for them as a young academy graduate, a mere underestimated and overlooked player, she caught Muain's eye when he was doing his usual observation rounds in the training grounds and during matches but she failed to make his final cut in his team. Adela however caught the eye of Janette through her speedy support on the wings and firm player in the defence, further consistent performances confirmed her addition in the national team.

[ 17 ] - UD/CDM - Nicole Natalie - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A call up once again by Janette came not as a surprise for Nicole as her previous performances in the World Cup 63 qualification campaign has shown that she was capable of providing for her team, one of the few exciting prospects from the NPR youth academy. It came as no surprise for her as she has worked hard for the call up by Janette, partnering Jaimie and Mei Kei in defence back in NPR, they were an invincible force at the back as they would wind up defence into attack in support of the midfield and put on neat performances both in attack and in defence. A great passer at the back, her slim build was more than useful as her speed was largely unmatched by the players in the Mapletish Women's Premier League except by teammate Vivian. Dangerous in the air too, corners and crosses from the flanks would be something easy for her to play in for.

[ 20 ] - CM - Janelle Elda - Age 22 - New Portland Rovers
Janelle, a player with great flair and technique and her bags of stamina, who enjoys running all round the pitch. Usually paired with Enkainia in the midfield, both of them have raked up more passes then any other midfield pairings of the Mapletish Women's Premier League. An established player from the ranks of New Portland Rovers, she was first call up to the Lions' squad for the WC 62 qualification campaign. Known as the midfield domimo, she is a traditional centre midfielder, full of surprises under her package she would be a first choice midfielder.

[ 7 ] - CAM - Enkainia Lee - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A talented quick and all rounded player to start with, she was first introduced to the team under the second reign of Muain Newtons. With her first World Cup qualification campaign in the WC 62 cycle. she has since been an important member of the Lions' squad having record some fanciful play in the middle of the pitch as part of the engine room in Muain's master plan. She has since never look back once as she top the list against other male competitors to her spot with her strong presence in her club side. Her idol was no doubt Maria Sarah an all rounded female legend who takes on the role of her female Francis Lee with her strength and energy in her playing style something that Enkainia models in her own playing style too.

[ 21 ] - CF/ST/RF - JH Morison - Age 28 - East Lakers IV
With a series of hugely impressive performances in the Premier League with East Lakers IV after falling out of favour in Home United after injuries plagued his stay in his childhood club, he has established himself as the lone striker of East Lakers IV's game with several fearsome and talented performances under his belt, he has established himself as a talented player however his inconsistency in delivering the goods are what keeps him on the bench all the time. though hardworking in training and a high attacking work rate, he often failed to deliver during matches misfiring shots. It all comes down to see which manager is able to put him in some kind of scoring form again or at least put him in a consistent form.

[ 22 ] - CF/LF/LW - Cirillo Remigio - Age 30 - Bury Town
First selected by Heinz for the Cup Of Harmony 52, and blooded into the youthful and disciplined set up of Heinz and then assistant manager Esteban. He might be under performing in the international stage when first selected, but he was part of the driving force that put Bury Town into the Premier League for the first time in their history. Confident that Remigio would not miss the kind of attacking sense that he displayed in matches that impressed Janette, it would proved to be risky for Janette though like the kind of risk post to Heinz when he was first called up in the 52nd Cup Of Harmony. It all boils down to how Janette make use of his strengths.

[ 23 ] - CAM/RW/RF/CF - Kimberly Aurora - Age 22 - New Portland Rovers
Another player from New Portland Rovers, Kimberly Aurora would make the entire Lions' squad complete with NPR's influence in the style of play if all the females in the Lions' squad play in one match, there would be a near complete team of NPR. Kimberly caught the eye of Janette when she was looking for female players to fit into her squad, a great pair with Jessie Leons in front of the play, the fearsome duo has dominated the game right in the Women's Premier League with some attractive playing style. Fast and agile on the run, Kimberly is full of stamina and can she would be able to run end to end for 120 minutes of play if needed, making her one of the fittest player in the master plan of Janette. She would well be able to form a partnership with Enkainia perfectly and evacuate passes and attacks perfectly.

[align=center]TACTICS: "The Leones Da Spectrum" OR "The 4-2-1-2-1"
The Maplish game is fast, physical and highly procession keeping where short passes are played around the players. Fitness is key to the Maplish game where the game switches positions quickly and in an instance. With the players switching positions all the time, the players are tactically disciplined to begin with and cannot afford to take on the defence on his/her own or it might upset the balance of the play if not done properly. Despite that majority of the players are technically gifted with homegrown tricks here and there in the play. The centre of the play is considered to be the most important part of the Spectrum where a "five men box" is put into placed by the five interchanging midfielders. Commonly known as the engine room, any long balls or crosses are played out from either of the five players from the box. The five men box forms four triangles that re position when the play changes sides. The man in the centre of the "five men box" would be the playmaker where all of the connecting passes to the attack would be play past to him. The two players behind the centre forward would the interchangeable attacking midfielders who can be used as an inverted winger to support the play from the wings or being an additional targeting support player. The defence is another crucial part of the spectrum, any quick counterattacking play would be played out through the wing backs who are always quick and on their toes. The quick pressing game of the defence puts opposition on pressure as the defence won't give you a second on the ball to think. In the Leones Spectrum, all players are expected to be able to play in all positions as all positions on the pitch are interdependent of each other and interchangeable of each other. It is some sort of a defensive 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-2-1, but it is a style of football where such interchangeable positions would be useful for the players. Any tired player would swap position to a less taxing role in play and recover, one of the tricks to the Spectrum playing style. So its the he Leones Da Spectrum or the Lions spectrum.
