Are style modifiers and RP bonuses used in the UICA competitions and in the Cygnus (Cup winners) cup?

The return of...

THE CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE

With the return of the Apoxian football pyramid to the international stage and the end of NSI's involvement (and therefore likely Project +90), the Centre for Excellence returns once again to promote and enhance the prospects of young football talent from within Apox and internationally.

This operates under a similar system to the Project +90 where people can TG me (or message me over IRC) with players who they'd like to be enrolled in the CfE. Please either TG me with any players from your nation you'd like to see at the Centre for Excellence or find me on IRC as I'm on there occasionally. Players can be either male or female and must be under the age of 21. Once they reach 21, they will be considered for the FC Endeavour squad, or offered to other ANL teams. Additionally they can be sold on to other nations leagues systems as well. All Apoxian and Mareibatian players are up for sale should anyone be interested in having them play in their domestic leagues. Players from other nations will be the responsibility of those nations, so organise any transfers with them.

This club will play in the ANL Regional South league for the first season of the new ANL, and cannot be promoted above that league, along with other youth sides. Prior to Apox's hiatus, the CfE expanded into the Sunrise Islands, and if the squad is sufficiently large and there is sufficient interest, this is an option that could be explored again.

So for now, if there are any young players people want to have developed, please message me with their info.

I cannot really speak for CH regarding his handling of the UICA competitions, but the Cup Winners' Cup (which I run) does take into account an RP bonus for its scorination. Style modifiers are not considered.

As Bonesea's national league does not run in concert with the UICA cycle/transfer window, this happens;

Tuw Turk, possibly Bonesea's finest player, is now available on a free transfer and looking for an immediate move abroad with the end of his contract now arriving
has signed a contract with Celtic Noviodunum.

Age: 27 Caps: 59 Goals: 17 (4th in Bonesea's all-time rankings, he could easily reach 2nd in the next cycle).

Position: Inside Forward in Bonesea under the traditional 127 formation; this could be left midfield or attacking midfield, and to a lesser extent left wing in the international game.
Former club: Florence Boldclub
Profession: Dentist (football is amateur in Bonesea; Tuw will turn professional if he signs with a pro club abroad)

Starring from an early age for his hometown club Start-93 in Gannet, he broke locals’ hearts when he moved to the capital, to continue his studies in dentistry, and signed for one of the big three. Expected to be snapped up by champions Spittalmarine, he surprised everyone by signing up to Des Jeruselem’s exciting rebuilding project at Florence Boldclub, instantly changing their fortunes in the Bonesligg. Tuw has long studied for a career in dentistry, cleverly anticipating that the greater the contact with the outside world now emerging for the nation of Bonesea, the more likely that civilised nations' obsession with symmetrically perfect and glitteringly white ivory-clackers will rub off on the locals and influence future financial opportunities for a good toothsman.

Alongside Reskadinnick Jones and playing on the opposite side to Chilli-Bean Acosta in the inside forward position, Tuw fulfilled the obvious potential he had to become one of the best players for the national team, walking away with the Most Valuable Player award for the WC ’76 team after a string of commanding performances that mark him out as a fine play-maker, pulling the strings of Bonesea’s future success. With Reskadinnick, he has formed a partnership that will dominate the lower orders of international football and maybe even irritate some of the higher orders. A key player in the Cup of Harmony 68 triumph, he scored in the final win over Schottia.

Tuw Turk is considered the best player in the 12th-ranked nation of NS international football, so will be looking for a top club - probably a top-30 UICA club or thereabouts. TG an offer, I'll take the first one that comes from a top-30 or the best thereafter.

A few others have been added to the free transfer sheet including a 45-cap former international...

Here's a statistical analysis of the Premier League performances of promoted clubs, which some of you may find interesting. I'll be running the numbers on my own league and possibly adjusting the rank formula based on the results.

Following on from the sacking of Torkingham Wanderers' head coach Hamish Day, the new owners are seeking a manager to oversee proceedings for the interim period until the end of the season, with a view to extending the contract depending on where the club finish, come the end of the season.

The right candidate will have experience of managing in the top division of a domestic league or even the second tier.

The position is extremely prestigious as this manager would be the first appointed to the Premier League from outside the region of Wyrmgore.

Any interested parties should TG me. Ta

As ever the Bonesligg is running out of sync with international domestic football and the UICA due to the ongoing fluid time radiation problems at the FT power plant in Whelm; things are happening much quicker up north than in the rest of the multiverse. After another season of churning, a number of players are keen for a move abroad to a place where time passes a little more slowly, and they are available on free transfers; they have been added to the current free transfer listing on Transfer Window 18...

THE CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE

The first confirmed roster for the revived Centre for Excellence can be found below, and this is the team which is competing in this season's ANL. As usual, any Apoxian players can be transferred elsewhere, just TG me or find me on IRC if interested. For other nations players, you'll need to sort that out with the nation in question, but if any transfers are made, TG me and I will update the roster.

Head Coach: Jack Ohanna, Aged: 39
Recently retired star player for Wrexton F.C, Jack Ohanna lands his first job coaching with the Centre, and he hopes that his eye for a good ball on the left wing for Wrexton as a player will translate to an eye for spotting and nurturing young potential as head coach of the Centre for Excellence.

With time running more quickly in our corner of the multiverse, league seasons consequently run completely out of sync with the UICA and the transfer window, meaning players are sometimes looking for a club when clubs aren't necessarily looking for them. For example, here are two Bonesmen looking to relocate abroad...

Ruan Milan
Age: 23 Position: DC/DM
Personality: Dressing-room motivator
Signed for Turoki United

A promising youngster who played at every junior level of the national team and appeared in the Sporting World Cup u-18s tournament when Bonesea reached the semi-finals, Ruan made a poor career decision that affected his chances of reaching the senior national team. Emerging from the Bold Youth programme and establishing himself at a young age in a title-contending team, two seasons ago along with several other players he walked out of Bonesligg big-hitters Florence Boldclub when they ran into some 'internal difficulties', signing for Start-93 who were, frankly, half the team he left behind. With The Geese failing to impress during his two seasons there, Ruan has lost his way and is looking for a fresh start to revive his international career. Has the potential for a top-25 UICA association league and won't be keen on signing below the second tier.

Newlyn Glaze
Age: 21 Position: ST
Personality: Outspoken
Signed for Tropicorp FC

On the books of reigning champions SS Skiveness since the age of 11, Newlyn has come through the ranks of the junior team - Young Offenders FC - and spent the last two seasons in the development programme on loan with Ligg-4 feeder club Banners FC Skiveness, where he was a major contributor in winning a promotion and a 1000-1 shot Skellingkop semi-final. Surprising his employers at SS, Newlyn declined a new contract and is looking to move abroad. Would suit a top-50 UICA association top tier club as a young prospect who may develop into a star striker. Potential to play for the national team, depending on where he ends up, although he was always just short of a place in the junior teams and has yet to be named in any national squad.

So yeah, some of you might be wondering where my league is at the moment. I did have some grand plans with it(if you frequented IRC, you probably recall that one of the major reasons why the Iron Syndicate was created was specifically because doing good in UICA and eventually winning the CC was my main goal on NSS aside from WC success), but in the month or so since I retired from 90% of NS Sports, I didn't realize that I would withdraw from it as much as I did. I guess breaking contact with the community completely will do that.

I've been contemplating over the last week or so whether I should continue writing the league recaps or not, but I eventually decided not to. I'm not going to leave you all hanging, since a bunch of you have players in the league. I'll have the full results and the UICA entries up before the deadline, you don't have to worry about that. But I'm not going to be doing the recap posts anymore, so yeah... I realize that some of you are probably disappointed because a lot of the appeal of IRN was the way that it was RPed, but I think this is better than doing match reports for every week but having it come out half assed because I'm not really part of this subforum anymore and my heart isn't in it.

If you'd rather have your players move on at the next window instead of staying without the match reports, feel free to arrange that. Either by releasing them or having them transfer to wherever you wish. If you do, please just TG me so I can keep track of which players are in the league.

So yeah. This pretty much confirms that I am legitimately retired once WGP2 finishes and I don't have commitments to post.

Just out of interest, what is currently the plan with UICA? I haven't heard anything except that the initial deadline was in mid June which I rediscovered just now.

While it is pretty hypocritical to point out any flaws in UICA considering the undertaking required to host it and considering that I have not offered to host it, however it is worth pointing out that distances between UICA have been stretching out further and further for years now, and it's been some time since the 2 UICA cycles per WC has been vaguely in shape. So I guess I should ask, CH, are you still able to host the UICA tournaments in their current guises? This is not intended as a question of your ability or commitment as a host, (the litany of events hosted over the years is proof of that) but we haven't heard anything in some time so it is just a genuine question. If you aren't able to be active any more (which is of course fine, RL > NS), then I'd rather see this be sorted out better than in rugby where due to PIS' forum absences, the Seasogs hasn't had a competition in well over a year.

Does anyone have anything to contribute to this debate as well? Is it even a debate worth having?

In the meantime, I'll probably just start sorting through my league, and if nothing comes of this, then start working out a way to do two seasons per UICA cycle.

I agree its a discussion worth having.

That said I won't complain - IRL circumstances mean I haven't posted my league yet, though I am to have my league up before Sunday evening is out. Watch this space.

I'm in the same boat as Eura. At the moment, I appreciate the delay because RL circumstances have been demanding and I haven't been able to RP the Härlighet Ligan at the rate I would like. The second half of the season should finally be forthcoming this week though.

That said, a candid discussion does clearly need to be had. I'm not a fan of uncertainty, so any concrete decision... any sort of set direction or schedule, would be preferable to the recent ambiguity and time-fluidity so we can all operate accordingly. I too would like to reiterate that is not a slight on the esteemed Commerce Heights in the slightest (obviously). It's amazing that he has shouldered this weight alone all this time to begin with. So... I don't think much further dialogue on UICA will be productive until we hear what CH thinks is best. It's his baby.

I had previously proposed that we introduce a new, leaner tournament (The NS Champions League) Strictly as a 32 team tournament strictly for champions of nations on a sign up basis with preference to the top 32 ranked nations (if some even number of signups >32 occurred then there could be a play in round.

This tournament could run between UICA cycles so we got closer to a 2:1 ratio in the world cup cycle.

The resounding response i got to this idea was basically what the response here has been thus far. "Thats a nice idea on paper since it solves the aging problem... but then it requires me to simulate my league more often and i've been kind of enjoying the extended break due to... .RL... burn out... etc"

So, while i think everyone wishes there was more UICA fun, i get the feeling that people would still rather wait for UICA to come then to do something *instead* of or *in addition to* UICA.

Re-iterating that CH has done incredible work to pretty much single-handedly hold together half of the NS football world, and we owe him massively. But the time frame is right now too unpredictable to work around, and the established timelines are drifting apart from one another - and that makes the synergy hard, when you might have a guy break through at club level at 21 but if you cap them immediately they're... 24, and should already be a firmly established player.

My personal view is that if we need to slim down the tournament for ease of organisation and scorination, the SBCC and Youth Cup are essentially disposable - they're rarely RPed in detail beyond 'X team was happy to beat Y; A team was tragically beaten at home by B' (due to lack of available rosters a lot of the time) - and would absolutely not judge if UICA had to be either slimmed down or scorinated with the help of others. At the end of the day, though, CH will know best.

There has been some discussion about running a regional CL cycle right now as a stopgap until a more permanent solution is in place or CH does make their intentions known. If this does go through, I am also hoping that the Cygnus Cup will be played as well. This is by no means a permanent solution but it would provide at least a temporary measure until the air of uncertainty is cleared. This is ultimately up to the community if it is something that they would be willing to entertain or not, as it really it just a proposal to accommodate those with the keen interest in the domestic cycle, as I do have conditional support from Damukuni on running the CEdC if this is what we decide to do for -right now-
