World Cup 64 Roster Thread
Because you can never get your roster over with quickly enough.

Welcome to the 64th NS World Cup!

Nations that have signed up for the 64th World Cup should post their rosters here. Rosters should list your starting 11 and your reserves, as well as your national manager/head coach and any assistants they might have. Personal and background information about your players and coaches goes here.

This is also where you should post the locations of your home matches.

You should include a formation, which is how your 11 starters will line up on the field. You should also include a style modifier for your nation. Style modifiers range from -5 to +5. If you like offensive football, choose a positive modifier; you will both score and concede more goals with a positive modifier. Negative modifiers are defensive; you will concede fewer goals, but you'll have trouble scoring goals of your own as well.

If you'd like to let your opponents know what they can and cannot RP about your team if they post before you, include an RP permission box with your roster:

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Godmod scoring events Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players Y/N
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y/N
Hand out red cards to my players Y/N
Godmod other events Y/N

Posting a roster will earn you a small RP bonus and the gratitude of your group-mates, since writing RPs about teams whose players don't have names gets old in a hurry.

Any questions or OOC comments should be posted in the OOC discussion thread (linked below.) We will post the RP thread within 24 hours; please do not make any IC or OOC posts aside from your roster in this thread. Any non-roster posts made in this thread will be considered spam.

With uncharacteristic speed but alarming predictability, West Zirconian manager Ben Phillips has named an unchanged squad for the World Cup 64 qualifying campaign.

The first XI is as follows:

GK Mike Chapman (Bradley Hornets)
DL Jason Clemence (Markham)
DC James Kenny (Houghton Kestrels)
DC Karl-Heinz Holzmann (Wacker Neustadt)
DR Jon Wood (Mort Park)
ML Gary Tandy (Banks)
MC Tom Chamberlain (Mort Park)
MC Andy Peters (c) (Broxton and Marrs Hill)
MR Ray Scott (Taylor's Cross)
FW Alun Lydiate (Bradley Hornets)
FW Steve Allerton (Stanley United)

Substitutes:

Goalkeepers:
Mike Leonard (Mort Park)
Steve Pearce (Stanley United)

Defenders:
Harry Turner (Markham)
Adam Clarke (St. Martin Athletic)
Steve West (Taylor's Cross)

Midfielders:
Paul McCoy (Bradley Hornets)
Andy Cotton (Stanley United)
Liam Smith (Taylor's Cross)

Forwards:
Scott Woods (Markham)
Ross Goodey (Banks)
James Newton (Mort Park)

[OOC: Style qualifier - a counter-attacking +1. Do anything that would be at least remotely realistically possible - the funnier the better.]

Ko-orenite Roster
for World Cup 64
ImageImage

Starters in bold:

Goal:
1. Haki Asgard - GK (33) - A solid goalkeeper, experienced and a natural leader. Co-captain behind Sobek Dehenat.
12. Amate Hoki - GK (31) - Good player, but very unfortunate in the fact that he has Asgard in the same generation.
23. Storm Enshadilsa - GK (24) - Biggest talent among Ko-orenite goalkeepers. He should be first goalie when Asgard quits.

Defensive:
2. Svarlamn Norn - LWB (25) - Energetic leftback, has good passing and is always looking for an offensive break.
3. Sobek Dehenat - CB (33) - Captain and biggest personality on the team. Calm and collected, experienced leader of the defense.
4. Lodur Nidog - RWB (27) - Slow player, but excellent in keeping strikers away from the ball.
7. Fin Fenner - RCM (29) - Central passing man on the team. Any attack is likely to start with one of his passes.
8. Susano Sanuki - LCM (27) - The most defensive of the five midfielders, often acts as second centralback next to Dehenat.

6. Ul Leire - DM (31) - In case of a lead that needs to be defended, an offensive midfielder is often substituted off for him.
13. Katanmak Juliasterinthen - CB (20) - Biggest defending talent. Learning the ropes from Dehenat, both in the NT and at the club.
16. Roluswishandin Erlenajaur - DM (21) - Inexperienced and it shows, needs to play a lot more important matches before he can play in the NT.
14. Fuujin Iwaki - CB (25) - Reliable CB, though he hardly does anything outside of defense. Poor passing.
15. Bjarswind Napertnau - CM (22) - The next Fin Fenner. Excellent passing, can even take free kicks well.
20. Futushi Musashi - RB (28) - Can play on either wing, slightly unreliable defender who's in the best of his years.
21. Koneruthen Haukderevnastar - DM (19) - On the squad to get more experienced. Not likely to play, but who knows what might happen.

Offensive:
10. Palnatoki Idrasil - RWM (27) - Quick winger, unpredictable and is good with crosses as well as dribbling inward and shooting.
5. Thor Alfar - LWM (23) - Can give good crosses, but is too slow to get in that position often. He is very strong though, and can hold the ball well.
11. Koyane Shiribeshi - ST (30) - Star striker of the team. Still as good as a few years ago, nobody doubts that he will again be the top scorer for the squad.
9. Naemasu Tokachi - ST (27) - Second striker behind Shiribeshi. Most assists are by him, but he can score too.
17. Pta Talmis - AM (24) - Passing man behind the strikers. Knows exactly when to give a through pass, pass to the wings, or pass back.

18. Esolywend Eregrent - AM (20) - Attacking midfielder who is also just as good on any wing. Can even play central midfielder.
19. Izasul Terathu - RS (25) - Next big striker. Often substituted on for Shiribeshi when his age starts showing. Energetic, agile and fast.
22. Ukru Masaineu - LS (21) - Not one of the biggest talents, but experienced enough to edge out over them.

RP-ing without having to read/think?
Most likely to score: Shiribeshi - Tokachi - Idrasil - Fenner - Alfar - Dehenat (just the starters)
Most likely to be booked: Norn - Sanuki - Nidog - Talmis - Alfar - Dehenat (just the starters)
Most likely substitutions:
Striker - striker: Shiribeshi/Tokachi <->Terathu
Attacking midfielder - attacking midfielder: Idrasil/Talmis/Alfar <-> Eregrent
Defensive midfielder - defensive midfielder: Fenner <-> Napertnau, Sanuki <-> Leire
Defender - defender: Norn/Nidog <-> Iwaki, Dehenat <-> Juliasterinthen

Offensive sub: Fenner/Sanuki <-> Eregrent, Talmis <-> Terathu
Defensive sub: Idrasil/Talmis/Alfar <-> Napertnau, Fenner <-> Iwaki/Juliasterinthen

Home stadiums:
Most matches will be played in the National Stadium, although the Wind Arena and the Thunder Arena are used often. First to RP may decide where the match took place.

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. In the Sanctii version of the 5-3-1-1 formation, the outside backs also function as outside midfielders. Prince Andreas is the twin brother of Prince Josephus, the goalie and captain for the Saintland hockey team and younger brother of Prince Petrus, quarterback and captain for Saintland's gridiron team, which will soon be competing in the Baptism of Iron and the World Bowl. He is the team captain and also functions as the team's playmaker. Ioannes and Nicolaus Poenius are brothers, as are Silvester, Paulus and Josephus Flaccus and Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Georgius Catiotus is the fiance of Martha Pudentilla, the gold medal winning figure skater from Saintland. Vagionius is not an especially fast player, but he is very tall and he is an exceptional finisher. When he is one-on-one against the keeper, Vagionius will score a goal 9 times out of 10. The Poenius brothers both have world-class speed. When Saintland attacks, typically Prince Andreas has possession of the ball and Vagionius, the center midfielders and the outside backs all try to get open inside the box, but 1 or 2 of them will usually be left back to defend (never Vagionius), except when the situation calls for an aggressive attack. Prince Andreas takes free kicks, corners and throw-ins. Vagionius will handle penalties. Sellouts for home games should be expected only when the team is playing extremely well and for the opening match. The stadium's capacity is around 3 times the population of St. Petrus and the total population of Saintland is between 500 and 600 thousand.

Eura World Cup 64 Qualifying Squad

Manager: Kelly Sporadic (Audioslava), 58 years old

Kelly Sporadic first rose to stardom as a young playmaker for the Silexhera national football side, back in the qualifiers for World Cup 46, and quickly made his name as a star player for XXV de Maio in Cafundeu, where he would spend most of his career. He retired after helping Silexhera qualify for their first and only World Cup finals in cycle 48.

Kelly became manager of the Audioslavia national team for the World Cup 59 cycle, aged just forty-four thanks to the slower Cafunduese time compared to that of Audioslavia, and with a modest history of management and coaching in Cafunduese club football. His first four months brought a level of success that utterly flabbergasted his employers, reaching the final of AOCAF 34 with a bare-bones team of amateurs, including his half-Cafunduese, half-Silexheran son Weverton, who qualified for the Audioslavia national team through means unknown. He followed the AOCAF 34 final with victory in the Baptism of Fire, but could only lead the Bulls to a modest 3-3-6 record in qualifying for WC59, finishing a disappointing 6th from 7 teams, following that with a first-round exit in the Cup of Harmony.

Kelly bounced back for cycle 60, and lead a rejuvinated Audioslavia team to AOCAF 35, where they went one better than their previous foray in the tournament and emerged victorious, beating Andossa se Mitrin Vega 2-0 in the final. World Cup 60 qualifying would prove to be another steep learning curve, as the Bulls finished mid-table in their group, but the side would record their best Cup of Harmony run later on, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Taeshan.

Kelly had lead a fledgling, mostly amateur Audioslavia to two championships, a final and a semi-final in his first two cycles in charge of Audioslavia - a fantastic feat - but things would begin to turn sour for the Silexheran in cycle 61.

The Bulls failed to get out of the group in AOCAF 36, failed to improve on their previous performance in World Cup qualifying, and were all-but ousted from the Cup of Harmony after a heavy defeat to Kinitaria and a subsequent draw at Sargossa. The Audioslavian media, always quick to jump on NT managers, jumped on Kelly, and the Silexheran decided to call it quits before the final game of the tournament, thanking the supporters, players and FFA for ten eventful years as manager.

Kelly became manager of Audioslavia's former BoF rivals Licentiapacisterra for cycle 62, finding immediate success with a championship in the form of the Campionato Esportiva. Kelly then did with the cyan what he couldn't do for the Bulls - take them to the World Cup finals, qualifying via a playoff. The side amassed a paltry point in the finals, but the side would take heart from their position at the top table of world football, and had high hopes to retain their CE title but, in a battle between two former-champions, lost out in the first round to the awesomely named - if modestly talented - THRILLEDGE.

From here, like in Audioslavia, things would turn a little sour. The cyan struggled in their WC63 qualifying group, finally finishing second before entering into, and losing, a playoff with eventual runners-up Starblaydia. The Licentiapacisterran FA decided they'd seen enough of the Audioslavian as NT boss, and announced his contract would not be renewed after the next Campionato Esportiva.

Kelly's age is around fifty-eight years old, and tends to play a solid, defensive style of play focused on technique and maintaining posesssion, no doubt moulded that way after years of having to get a bunch of amateur Audioslavians to avoid humiliatingly large defeats. His 4-5-1 formation he used at Audioslavia has been retained by the claret and green and used to great effect in the WC championship winning cycle, while Kelly's own interpretation of the system, at Licen, has morphed into a more fluid 4-1-4-1.

He signed on as Euran national team manager with a three yer contract to the great surprise of commentators after the Copa Rushmori that preceded the qualifying stages of the 64th World Cup, when Eura were 13th in the world and attempting to regain the sort of form that propelled them to the final of the 60th World Cup. Three years senior of the man he replaces, Ben Randall, Sporadic has to prove now that he can work his magic again with a team that plays a free flowing, attractive style that he would appreciate – but with a higher tempo and a more attacking nature. Perhaps his biggest problem will be tightening up the defence.

Credit to Audioslava for writing up this biography.

Assistant: Johannes Kallstrom (Polar Islandstates), 45 years old

Signing his contract on the same day as Sporadic, also for three years, Kallstrom is the latest Polarian import to Euran football, reflecting the close admiration by Eurans of their hardy island nature and going the other way an admiration of a culture where football is deeply ingrained as a passion rather than a sport. He will be working in close conjunction with his subordinate and Head Coach, Louis Watson. Kallstrom’s role is important covering for Sporadic on occasion and playing perhaps a more pivotal role than most assistant managers do in relation to their main men. Much like in his time assistant managing the Terns, he has a big say in selection, tactical chemistry, discipline, maintaining extremely high fitness levels and a superb ability to judge the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. He has a lot to live up to in emulating the recently resigned Dimitri Campbell, who was as respected as his boss Randall in his time helping Eura emerge on the footballing scene. No pressure then.

Head Coach: Louis Watson (Eura), 44 years old

Godmod injuries to my players – YES (But only how the injury happens, NOT the extent of the injury)
Hand out yellow cards to my players – YES (Five a game maximum)
Hand out red cards to my players – YES (One a game maximum)

YES, provided you keep events within the realms of realism, so no deaths etc. If I have to RP one of my goals as coming off a goose in mid-air or anything else I deem ridiculous I will eat your fucking soul. Generic last minute supergoals from 500 yards/goalkeepers scoring hat-tricks will be given the same distasteful reaction. In fact, I should probably just say ‘fuck you’ in advance.

Stadium

Eura play their home games at the Bastion Arena in the city of Bastion, Eura. It has been recently expanded from a capacity of 98,000, to a capacity of 120,000. Consequently the away fans allocation has been raised from a 7,000-12,000 range (depending on demand) to a stricter 8,000-10,000 range based on demand. Home fans are allocated 105,000 seats, and given that Bastion is a city home to 88 million people in a country of 3 billion people, this allocation will always sell out no matter whom the opposition are. 5,000-7,000 neutral/executive seats are available, with the number varying depending on how many tickets the away side are allocated.

Some background

Fulflood is a country of roughly 75 million people spanning an area similar in size to Iceland. The official languages are English, Fulflooder (also known as Vyvlur) and Sdamoran. Its capital city is Vyvlu, while other major cities include Lyk, Wik, Tomas, Jesel and Lorec. The current President is Robert Ujson of the Liberal party, who is a keen supporter of Jelkym FC.

Football in Fulflood

Football is the most followed sport in the country, and is governed by the FF/VV. It is organised into 3 professional leagues, the 1f., 2f. and 3f. Ligs; the current champions of which are Wik Football, Tomas Royals and Kafren respectively. Most football affiliations lie on a county-by-county basis, but the most popular (and, for the most part, most successful) clubs are Sdamor, Wik Football, Vyvlu FC, OVB, FC Hoid and Wel Lions.

The Team

Nationally, the team, known affectionately in Fulflood as the Pigeons, are very much in their early years. Over the past 6 months, they have been specially chosen to combine ability with representation from every 1f. Lig team (and a couple from the lower leagues).

They are defensively minded, and usually play in a 4-4-2 diamond or 5-3-2 formation, occasionally switching to 5-3-1-1 with Kreg Kalsder as the second striker. Their attacks tend to be short and based down the wing, while the players are generally quick and agile. Tactical and technical flaws are fairly commonplace, but current coach Tej Rejurdson (himself a former national player) is looking to remedy these.

In the recent Baptism of Fire Fulflood came top of their group, Group G, with four wins and one draw (against runners-up Schmiegelland). In total, they only let one goal past their keeper. However, they were knocked out by semi-finalists Bearded Moose in a tense 1-0 game in the round of 16, which was seen as disappointing by many Fulflooders in the team and back home.

The Stadium

The team play in the ornate national stadium of Fulflood, Volcano Dome, which is located on the flanks of the dormant Fijral volcano in the centrally-located city of Lorec. The stadium holds 92,237 spectators, and is thus the largest stadium in Fulflood.

2.bp.blogspot.com/_pXwNgemrvPA/S-ywFGthrAI/AAAAAAAAC6A/axhG_BKLzwU/s1600/BC-Place-Stadium3.jpg

The stadium was built 50 years ago in the Dominion's administrative second city, Lorec, the site of the ancient parliament. Lorec in particular was chosen because of these connotations, its central location and its lack of a major football team. The Dome is notable for having a volcanic vent on the eastern side, as shown in the photograph. Don't worry, it's extremely safe (we think).

The Squad

Fulflood sends a squad of 29 to the 64th World Cup:

Goalkeepers

1 Rori Andson (28, Wik) Caps: 4
A dependable, consistent goalkeeper with an eye for anticipating shots, Rori Andson is top of his game in Fulflood, with the most saves per goal let in last season in the 1f. Lig and a vast array of saves in the recent Baptism of Fire.

11 Jak Duvi (26, Jelkym) Caps: 2
Jak Duvi has, despite showing great promise, declined multiple transfer offers from bigger clubs both nationally and overseas this year, citing his 'extreme love' for his home county of Jelkym. If recent national performances are anything to go by, Jak is at the top of his form.

21 Ros Felni (38, Vyvlu) Caps: 0
Ros Felni's nickname the 'First Lady of Football' honours her accolade of being the first top-flight female footballer in Fulflood.

Defenders

4 Mejel Nelson (30, Left back, Tomas Royals) Caps: 6
[i]Nelson is a pacy right back with the power to outflank his opponents on a regular basis. Brought up in the poor nation of Fjo, Nelson's family migrated to Fulflood when he was 6.

2 Din Bekwef (23, Centre back, OVB) (vc) Caps: 6
Youngster Din Bekwef is also known as 'man of nails', and for a good reason. Raised by himself in the vast forests of Ovsbajri from age 8, Din is completely self-sufficient on and off the pitch, and is an excellent last line of defence in any team, with the power to clear up any remaining opposition in the box. Din's been hotly tipped by manager Hums Urmed as a key player in the World Cup, having made the most tackles in the team and scored one goal.

3 Moikel Grin (24, Centre back, Vyvlu) Caps: 5
'He's got a grin on his face, a grin on his face, Moikel Grin, a grin on his face'. Every time Moikel shows his prowess, this chant echoes round Vyvlu FC's Leren Smef Stadium. And that happes a lot - Moikel combines skill with strength to snuff the flames of any oncoming attackers.

5 Ly Blakmor (28, Right back, Sdamor) Caps: 6
Blackmor, the only woman in the Fulflooder starting line-up, is widely regarded as the best female player ever to come out of Fulflood. What she lacks in strength, she makes up for in stamina and skill.

8 Aandi Vorbs (31, Left back, Sdamor) Caps: 0
Vorbs's professional career has been marred by allegations of illicit activities with tortoises, which he vehemently denies.

6 Kres Tod (29, Centre back, Hehrsdok) Caps: 2
Kres's scarred face hints at his greatest surprise - he was a rugby player until age 22. However, a particularly violent scrum lead to a broken jaw and burst eye, which proved to be an epiphany in Tod's life. The next time he stepped on a rugby pitch, he was unable to enter any physical contact, so decided to give up his illustrious career and instead switch to football. He finds his skills as a forward come in useful when making tackles, but receives frequent bookings for his powerful challenges.

7 Daan Sbenc (32, Centre back, Wik) Caps: 0

9 Se Sangkeyva (28, Right back, OVB) Caps: 1

32 Alec Lesi (39, Centre back, Abasburton) Caps: 2
Alec is something of a legend for newly promoted Abasburton, having played her entire professional career of 20 years with them - more than any other player. She's carried the team twice into promotion.

33 Ken Decon (33, Right back, Jesel) Caps: 0

Midfielders

13 Brali Vonten (29, Left wing/mid, Wel Lions) Caps: 6
Brother to noted bobsleigher Blurm Vonten with whom he shares his speed and agility, Brali is often able to run the ball the full length of the wing, as well as excelling in the snow.

12 Gled Safam (21, Centre mid/defensive mid, Vef) Caps: 6
If ever there was a natural gift for football, it has been shown in this man. Joining his school B team at age 16 uncovered one of the true wonders of the modern game in Fulflood. Five years on, Gled has rocketed to being a regular first-team player in his home county of Vef, and is being hotly pursued by teams both domestically and internationally.

15 Murk Hiys (26, Attacking mid, Hoid) Caps: 5
Murk combines technical prowess with goal-scoring ability and is the star man on the FC Hoid team. Recently he was voted the most inspiring footballer in Fulflood, although this is mainly due to his extensive semi-naked modelling career, which is highlighted on the pitch by his keenness to take off his shirt whenever the team so much as wins a header.

14 Kloiv Moykeni (36, Right wing/mid, Hoiklev) Caps: 1
Kloiv is a veteran to the Fulflooder team. Although losing his stamina, he is as quick off the mark as ever and could pose a dangerous threat if able to beat the opposition's defensive line. He was unable to play in the 51st Baptism of Fire due to his drinking spree on the night of Fulflood's first game.

17 Del Bens (25, Left wing/mid, Wik) Caps: 0

16 Je Rison (26, Defensive mid, OVB) Caps: 0

19 Kres Vlud (26, Attacking mid, Vyvlu) Caps: 1

18 Demian Skanel (30, Right wing/mid, Bajervurm) Caps: 5
Demian is known for his trouble with the law, having been arrested no less than 6 times during his career, mostly for minor violent offences. His appearance on the squad was controversial to say the least, although few other right wingers could be found who could fill his boots, in more ways than one - he is well known for his size 16 feet.

42 Kori Keng (23, Defensive mid, Wik) Caps: 0

43 Adam Wokens (22, Centre mid, Vyvlu) Caps: 0

44 Adam Luhna (30, Attacking mid, plays outside Fulflood) Caps: 1
Normally dominant Luhna is recovering from a knee injury which has left him out most of this season. Thesedays he plays despondently, and works much less hard while in possession after the devastating injury which came during a spell when he was on the form of his life.

Forwards

22 Kreg Kalsder (25, Striker/centre forward, Sdamor) Caps: 4
Although overshadowed by his diehard support for the occasionally militant Stamor Independence Movement, Kalsder has the ability to finish with accuracy. He is, however, occasionally prone to 'wobbles' in his performance.

23 Li Pikok (28, Striker, Kafren) (c) Caps: 5
Many pundits say it was the work of clinical Li Pikok alone which caused former 3f. Lig side Kafren to be promoted and win the cup in one season. His ability to score goals is unmatched by anyone else in Fulflood.

24 Jak Smef (29, Striker, Sdamor) Caps: 1

25 Kres Sbroski (24, Centre forward, Slipersel) Caps: 3
The 'mountain man' as he's affectionately known, excels in tough conditions - cold, wind or rain - and at these times possesses the ability to hammer tired opponents. He becomes a lot less impressive when the sun comes out, though. Recently, Kres received praise from manager Hums Urmed for his playing style and ability in the Baptism of Fire.

26 Aandi Kyk (34, Striker, Sekros) Caps: 0

Staff

Manager: Hums Urmed
Hums Urmed, the manager of the national football team of Fulflood. A man synonymous with the success we had at the 51st Baptism of Fire. An unassuming man with a swarthy complexion, often seen wearing his standard raincoat and jeans while out on the pitch.

Hums, 41, is from humble beginnings - his father Jem, was a plasterer, while his mother, Sujia, worked at the bank by the church. Hums himself always had a passion for sport - both football and rugby - and was scouted by those in charge of his home county of Woijyt's team, then languishing in the semi-professional 5f. Lig, for his skill on the ball, joining the under-15s.

His 18th birthday marked a challenging point in his life - his dad died in a tragic dust inhalation accident while renovating the castle in his home town of Woijyt, and an offer came in from successful rugby club Sekros, his favourite team. But Hums stayed in town - he was not one for quitting where he'd left off.

Within 2 years, Urmed was a first-team regular, and had gained the recognition of larger clubs including Vyvlu and Stamor. But a crippling ankle injury left him out of the game for two years and he was unable to progress past Woijyt when he finally did return. He guided them to one 5f. Lig title, only to be relegated the next season.

Later in his playing career, Hums was appointed interim player-manager. Little was expected of him initially, but he showed himself to be one of the best managers of Fulflood, consistently improving with his team, who were recently promoted to the 3f. Lig. Urmed received a national call-up just fourteen months ago, which he accepted with a positive outlook on the national team's future.

Urmed is also optimistic about the Pigeons' chances in the World Cup.

Coach: Tej Rejurdson
Tej, 42, recently retired as a left winger, after having played a fruitful career at Vyvlu, Vef and Slipersel as well as overseas more recently. This is his first major tournament as Fulflooder coach.

(OOC: Some informtion about Sicoutimont's national football team can be found here. It's incomplete, and I'm currently updating it)

Les Royales Roster and Information for World Cup 64, hosted by Wight and New Montreal States

17 footballers from all across Sicoutimont will travel the world for the next few months. The reason? The biggest event in the world, World Cup 64. Last time around, Les Royales came up just short from heading to Aguazul and Turori, finishing third in their group. Eventually, Audioslavia would defeat Starblaydia in the final for their first title. Now, it's time for WC64. Les Royales return, much more experianced than the team that lost 4-0 to Bears Armed to be put out of contention for WC63's finals. Even a win instead of a draw against Apox 2 weeks earlier would have put the team into the finals. But instead, it was the Cup of Harmony in Hutt River and Taeshan for Les Royales, where they would not finish in the top half of their group. Former assisstant manager Luc Gaudreau has left, and is now the manager of Slembana. So, who are this year's violet et bleu? Let's find out!

Louis Desjardins-MF-Sporting Lac-Bouchard (Sicoutimont)

Les Royales enter WC64 with an interesting roster. Looking at the goalkeepers, we've got a reliable, strong core to go with through the qualifiers. Coming up through defence, a solid passing squad is ours. The midfield looks strong, but Sicoutimont's old reliable is its offence. Giroux, Savard, Sarault and Allonts. There's a reason Marc Denis didn't take any striker reserves. These guys are tough, strong, and score lots of goals. In total, they've missed 4 caps since WC61, and that was 2 for Giroux last time around, 1 for Sarault and 1 for Savard. Coming to the reserves, Herbert Georges is on this squad mostly as a gesture from Marc Denis. He'll be used at most in friendlies. At the age of 38, it's likely this WC cycle will be his last. His contract with Empilot expires in 2 years, and he'll probably be done after that. Fernard Girard was an interesting choice, and Elemanceur, Varrault and Desjardins are the bench players who will see playing time at the qualifiers. Now, onto the stadia:

Sicoutimont's home stadiums will be the same as last time around. Here's a description of each:
Stade St-Pierre, Lac-Drouin
Seating 50,000, Stade St-Pierre is home to Lac-Drouin St-Pierre, the greatest Sicoutian football club team. It also hosted most of the team's qualifing games at World Cup 62 and 63, and almost all home friendlies by the team are played here. Lac-Drouin is the capital of Sicoutimont, and balances a modern, new look with a medieval thrill to the older areas. It is home to 115 million people, and the city takes up almost 100km of space squared. Most people live in the subburbs of either Ile Perrot or Rapides-Drouin, which are off the island Lac-Drouin is situated on. The stadium is located just 4 blocks from the waterfront, on 7 Rue de Parliamentre, the most famous road in all Sicoutimont.

SportCity, Pierre Beach
The Monster, SportCity, seats 116,000 people for football matches. It is home to FC Pierre Beach and FC Cote, once a UICA qualifier. Outside, SportCity looks just like any large stadium. You have to go inside to get the real feel for SportCity. Underneath the stadium is literally Sport City. As Pierre Beach is a smaller, modern town, holding 31 million people, the businesses are relatively clamped together in this area. Pierre Beach is right along the coast, allowing for burning hot summer days, but also a tropical, rainy climate due to hurricanes. Condos, restaraunts, shops, all this can be found underneath SportCity. Tunnels take you around the city, and Gare-Centrale, the train station, is here, connecting you to Lac-Drouin in 4 hours. Your team will be staying in the Hotel du Waterfront-SportCity. It is an aboveground hotel, right on the waterfront. It connects to SportCity's underground via the hotel restaraunt, Chez-Pierre. WC64 qualifing will be played during the late summer in Sicoutimont, which means tropical storms are common. Be Prepared.

A schedule will be released soon, and friendly season is coming up! So, watch your Royales take to the field against the nations of the world!
