Charles Vernon and Alexandra Turner have been given byes in the quarterfinals, as they were the winner and runner-up in the National Chess Cup 2002, respectively.
Andrew Peterson has been given a bye in the quarterfinals, as he was the winner of the National Chess Cup 2001.
