I believe there's already a Quidditch World Cup so your thread name has to be changed so that they're not the same or can be confused with one another.

Drayton 2014 Quidditch World Cup host bid.

Postby Abalucia » Sat Feb 23, 2013 9:15 am

Nation Name: The United Kingdom of Abalucia
Region Name: The Allied Republics
Host City/s: Drayton (Abalucian capital)
Why You Should Host: Drayton is one of the world's biggest cities and is a vibrant, bustling metropolis home to 30,000,000 citizens. Drayton has many sites to see like the home of the Abalucian parliament (the parliamentary bureau), the Imperial Palace (Home of His Majesty the Consul, one of the world's most celebrated monarchs) and the world's only holo-entertainment Centre. Abalucia is also home to a growing interest of Quidditch. At any one time, 4.7 million Abalucians play the sport. It has become so popular that we are even constructing a ceremonial home for it here in the capital, The Regents Stadium. It will hold over 85,000 when it is finished and it is due for completion around September 2013, in time for the world cup.

Crime rates in the city are very low and there is plenty of accommodation for spectators. Drayton also boasts the longest subway system in the world, the Drayton Underpass and a station is due to be built into the stadium. Also put into account Abalucia's high human rights rating. Anti-corruption laws have been put in place to make sure the people's rights are upheld with no interference from the Government or else where. The bids motto is "For the World" as the bid's aim is to united the world in this great sport. This is a great opportunity for Drayton and Abalucia to show the world that we are great hosts and a great country.

Your use of the name Quidditch World Cup caused a big fight between people involved in previous Quidditch World Cup threads who were going off on you for using their thread's name and people like me who thought they were being too harsh and tried to stand up for you. After deleting all the off-topic posts, apparently Nathicana changed the thread's name to prevent further fighting. Probably a good decision, considering the way things were going.

My application should be hitting your inbox soonish.

You'll find a better modly explanation of why the NS Sport community have an issue with the tournament bearing a 'World Cup' name in one of DRN's previous posts.

Drayton 2014 Quidditch World Cup host bid - "For The World"

Postby Abalucia » Mon Feb 25, 2013 9:40 am

Question1: WHAT IS STEPS IS THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC TAKING TO PREVENT THE GAME OF
QUIDDITCH FROM BEING WITNESSED BY MUGGLES IN YOUR NATION?
At the gates of the stadium there will be gaurds and muggle-detectors to check that there is no illegal entry. We will also ask questions that only non-muggles know when people bu their tickets at the box office and online.
Question2: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF THE GOLDEN SNIDGET
IN PLACE OF THE GOLDEN SNITCH?
The Royal Ministry of Magic is opposed to the use of the golden snidget being used in international games as it is taking a tradition out of the game. It does however beleive that if change must come the golden snidget could be used in world league games.
Question3: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF BASKETS AT THE GOAL
POSTS?
The Royal Ministry of Magic's view on this matter is that although the snitch should not be changfe in the international game there should be a modernisation of the goal posts. The RMM is trying to get rid of the baskets to give the game a modern glow and to open and show it off to a new generation of Quidditch players.
Question4: ACCORDING TO YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MOST
SERIOUS OFFENCES IN THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH AND WHY?
a.Blagging- The Royal Ministry of Magic believe that holding another player's broom is out of the question and should hold a year ban. The safety of the players and spectators is paraamount.
b.Blatching
c.Blurting
d.Bumphing- The RMM believes that this is very usporting and dangerous for the crowd watching. The crowds safety is obvoiusly a priority for the referee and thus stops the game. This is immoral in the game of quiddicth.
e.Cobbing- This is dangerous and could knock someone off their broom. This is a 'disgusting offence' in the words of the head of the RMM, Sir Humphrey Sillasi.
f.Flacking- The RMM believes that this is unsporting an ruins the great game. By pushing the Quaffle out this impedes the player's shot and thus alters the game immorally.
g.Haversaking
h.Quaffle Poking
I.Snitchnip
j.Stooging
k.Sterfing
l.Marring
Question5: WHAT DOES YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC THINK IS THE BIGGEST CON OR DISADVANTAGE
OR PROBLEM WITH THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH?.WHY AND HOW CAN YOU FIX IT?
The RMM thinks that the biggest problem with tthe game of Quidditch is that it does not offer video refereeing surveillance. This means that there is greater chance of missing fouls that could alter the game immorally. That is why the Royal Ministry of Magic has put forward a plea to the IQA (International Quidditch Association) to bring in the technology. It is getting harder and harder for referees to pick up on fouls due to the pace of the game and the RMM think that it is time for the game to be modernised without tarnishing its rich and beautiful history.
MOTTO OF THE BID CAMPAIGN AND IF DRAYTON WON THE BID: "For The World".

Question1: WHAT IS STEPS IS THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC TAKING TO PREVENT THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH FROM BEING WITNESSED BY MUGGLES IN YOUR NATION? There are none
Question2: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF THE GOLDEN SNIDGET IN PLACEOF THEGOLDEN SNITCH? The Golden Snidget has never been used for Quidditch in NMA
Question3: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF BASKETS AT THE GOAL POSTS? We find it is unorthodox and dont use it
Question4: ACCORDING TO YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MOST SERIOUS OFFENCES IN THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH AND WHY? We believe Blumphing is the most serious because safety of the spectatorsnis always a priority
Question5: WHAT DOES YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC THINK IS THE BIGGEST CON OR DISADVANTAGE OR PROBLEM WITH THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH?.WHY AND HOW CAN YOU FIX IT? The biggest disadvantage in Quidditch is the game goes on until the Snitch is caught. We would fix that by putting a time limit onnthe game and if the Snitch hasn't been caught in that time the team with the highest points win.

Still unsure is this is Quidditch World Cup 5. But even if it isn't. Here's my sign up.

Official Name of National Team: Team Liquid
Region: Adun

Keeper: Song Hyeon Deok (Male pony)
Beater: Chris Loranger (Male tiger)
Beater: Choi Jung Min (Male wolf)
Chaser: Dario Wünsch (Male pony)
Chaser: Yoon Young Seo (Male pony)
Chaser: Tyler Wasieleski (Male lion)
Seeker and Captain: Jonathan Walsh (Male Pony)
Substitute: Jens Aasgaard (Male pony)

Strength of Team: Amazing Defense and a champion level seeker. The overall game plan is to catch the golden snitch while keeping the score as low as possible.

Weakness of Team: If either the seeker or the keeper isn’t playing at their best, the game can be out of reach very quickly.

Nation Name: Lacostatia
Region Name:Heratania
Host City/s: Pleora,Bumphus
Why You Should Host: Lacostatia has been one of the leading entities in Quidditch and further more Quidditch is Lacostasia's national sport ( not for non-muggles).
on many of the caves and records of Lacostatia men playing the game are potrayed. the sport of Quidditch has a large fan base among the citizens of lacostasia.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Question1: WHAT IS STEPS IS THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC TAKING TO PREVENT THE GAME OF
QUIDDITCH FROM BEING WITNESSED BY MUGGLES IN YOUR NATION?

"repullum muggletum" spell is used to cover all the area around the Arena up to a distance of 1km. and the stadiums are situatrd far away from muggle habitation and even if by chance there is a muggle breach then spells like "obliviate" are used without hesitation.
Question2: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF THE GOLDEN SNIDGET
IN PLACE OF THE GOLDEN SNITCH?
it is most poposterous that the use of such a delicate and endangered species is used.
Question3: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF BASKETS AT THE GOAL
POSTS?
we do not use it as it is against the provisions set by the rules of the sport and interrupts continuation of the game.
Question4: ACCORDING TO YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MOST
SERIOUS OFFENCES IN THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH AND WHY?
d.Bumphing- as it is a complete violation of good sportsmanship and the saftey of the crowd is the
no.1 concern so is that of the players but the players have means of defending themselves.

Question5: WHAT DOES YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC THINK IS THE BIGGEST CON OR DISADVANTAGE
OR PROBLEM WITH THE GAME OF QUIDDITCH?.WHY AND HOW CAN YOU FIX IT?
NOTHING IT IS THE GREATEST GAME IN THE WORLD.

Question6: WHAT IS THE MOTTO OF THE QUIDDITCH UNITED WORLD CUP 2018 IF IT IS HELD IN
YOUR NATION (added 26th Feb'2013)
"for the sport"

Question2: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF THE GOLDEN SNIDGET IN PLACE OF THE GOLDEN SNITCH? We feel it is wrong to use such a helpless creature for Quidditch.
Question3: WHAT ARE YOUR MINISTRY OF MAGIC'S VIEWS ON THE USE OF BASKETS AT THE GOAL POSTS? We like to keep Quidditch modern and it is against international quidditch statutes

Your Aid To Choose Indian Cities

Postby The United Kingdoms of Zackalantis » Mon Mar 04, 2013 2:52 am

here is a kind of resume for all the cities contesting to host the QUWC'14 in India.

MUMBAI:
Mumbai /mʊmˈbaɪ/, formerly Bombay, is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India, and the fourth most populous city in the world, with a total metropolitan area population of approximately 20.5 million. Along with the neighbouring urban areas, including the cities of Navi Mumbai and Thane, it is one of the most populous urban regions in the world. Mumbai lies on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour. In 2009, Mumbai was named an Alpha world city. It is also the wealthiest city in India, and has the highest GDP of any city in South, West or Central Asia. The seven islands that came to constitute Mumbai were home to communities of fishing colonies. For centuries, the islands were under the control of successive indigenous empires before being ceded to the Portuguese and subsequently to the British East India Company. During the mid-18th century, Mumbai was reshaped by the Hornby Vellard project, which undertook the reclamation of the area between the seven constituent islands from the sea. Completed by 1845, the project along with construction of major roads and railways transformed Bombay into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea. Economic and educational development characterised the city during the 19th century. It became a strong base for the Indian independence movement during the early 20th century. When India became independent in 1947, the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Bombay as capital. The city was renamed Mumbai in 1996, the name being derived from the Koli goddess—Mumbadevi.
Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India, it is also one of the world's top 10 centres of commerce in terms of global financial flow, generating 5% of India's GDP, and accounting for 25% of industrial output, 70% of maritime trade in India (Mumbai Port Trust & JNPT), and 70% of capital transactions to India's economy. NEW DELHI:
the capital of the Republic of India, and the seat of executive, legislative, and judiciary branches of the Government of India. It also serves as the centre of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. New Delhi is situated within the metropolis of Delhi and is one of the eleven districts of Delhi National Capital Territory.
The foundation stone of the city was laid on 15 December 1911.[2] It was planned by two leading 20th-century British architects, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker. The new Capital was christened "New Delhi" in 1927,[3] and subsequently inaugurated on 13 February 1931,[4] by British India's Viceroy Lord Irwin. On 12 December 2011, New Delhi celebrated 100 years of capitalship,[5] making it another landmark year in the long history of the region of Delhi.[5] New Delhi is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub complex.[6] There are areas like Old Delhi and Mehrauli in New Delhi which have a number of heritage structures. The National Geographic's Traveler Magazine describes it as "one of the Ultimate Cities of a Lifetime to visit and explore."[19] In a report jointly prepared by Institute for Competitiveness and Confederation of Indian Industry, the city is listed as the best to live in India.[20][21] The city of New Delhi is also known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and is home to numerous national institutions, museums and landmarks.New Delhi is a cosmopolitan city due to the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural presence of the vast Indian bureaucracy and political system. The city's capital status has amplified the importance of national events and holidays. National events such as Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti (Gandhi's birthday) are celebrated with great enthusiasm in New Delhi and the rest of India. On India's Independence Day (15 August) the Prime Minister of India addresses the nation from the Red Fort. Most Delhiites celebrate the day by flying kites, which are considered a symbol of freedom.[63] The Republic Day Parade is a large cultural and military parade showcasing India's cultural diversity and military might.[64][65]
Religious festivals include Diwali (the festival of light), Maha Shivaratri, Teej, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Baisakhi, Durga Puja, Holi, Lohri, Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, Christmas and Mahavir Jayanti.[65] The Qutub Festival is a cultural event during which performances of musicians and dancers from all over India are showcased at night, with the Qutub Minar as the chosen backdrop of the event.[66] Other events such as Kite Flying Festival, International Mango Festival and Vasant Panchami (the Spring Festival) are held every year in Delhi.

KOLKATA:
Kolkata /kɒlˈkætə/, or Calcutta /kælˈkʌtə/, is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly river, it is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India, while the Port of Kolkata is India's oldest operating port as well as its sole major riverine port. As of 2011, the city had 4.5 million residents; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 14.1 million, making it the third-most populous metropolitan area in India. As of 2008, its economic output as measured by gross domestic product ranked third among South Asian cities, behind Mumbai and Delhi.
The Kolkata metropolitan area is spread over 1,886.67 km2 (728.45 sq mi)[48]:7 and comprises 3 municipal corporations (including Kolkata Municipal Corporation), 39 local municipalities and 24 panchayat samitis, as of 2011.[48]:7 The urban agglomeration encompassed 72 cities and 527 towns and villages, as of 2006.[49] Suburban areas in the Kolkata metropolitan area incorporate parts of the following districts: North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, and Nadia.[50]:15 Kolkata, which is under the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation ( KMC), has an area of 185 km2 (71 sq mi).[49] The east–west dimension of the city is comparatively narrow, stretching from the Hooghly River in the west to roughly the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in the east—a span of 9–10 km (5.6–6.2 mi).[51] The north–south distance is greater, and its axis is used to section the city into North, Central, and South Kolkata.
Kolkata is the main commercial and financial hub of East and North-East India[50] and home to the Calcutta Stock Exchange.[72][73] It is a major commercial and military port, and is the only city in eastern India to have an international airport. Once India's leading city, Kolkata experienced a steady economic decline in the decades following India's independence due to steep population increases and a rise in militant trade-unionism, which included frequent strikes that were backed by left-wing parties.[41] From the 1960s to the late 1990s, several factories were closed and businesses relocated.[41] The lack of capital and resources added to the depressed state of the city's economy and gave rise to an unwelcome sobriquet: the "dying city".[74] The city's fortunes improved after the Indian economy was liberalised in the 1990s and changes in economic policy were enacted by the West Bengal state government.Kolkata is known for its literary, artistic, and revolutionary heritage; as the former capital of India, it was the birthplace of modern Indian literary and artistic thought.[183] Kolkata has been called the "City of Furious, Creative Energy"[184] as well as the "cultural [or literary] capital of India".[185][186] The presence of paras, which are neighbourhoods that possess a strong sense of community, is characteristic of Kolkata.[187] Typically, each para has its own community club and, on occasion, a playing field.[187] Residents engage in addas, or leisurely chats, that often take the form of freestyle intellectual conversation.[188][189] The city has a tradition of political graffiti depicting everything from outrageous slander to witty banter and limericks, caricatures, and propaganda.[190][191]

CHENNAI:
Chennai i/tʃɨˈnaɪ/[5][6] (unofficially known by its former name, Madras i/məˈdrɑːs/) is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, it is a major commercial, cultural, economic and educational center in South India. It is also known as the "Cultural Capital of South India"[7] and was declared as the most liveable city in India by the Institute of Competitiveness[8][9][10] on account of economic, social, security and medical conditions as parameters.
The area around Chennai had been part of successive South Indian kingdoms through centuries. The recorded history of the city began in the colonial times, specifically with the arrival of British East India Company and the establishment of Fort St. George in 1644. The British defended several attacks from the French colonial forces, and from the kingdom of Mysore, on Chennai's way to becoming a major naval port and presidency city by the late eighteenth century. Following the independence of India, Chennai became the capital of Tamil Nadu and an important centre of regional politics that tended to bank on the Dravidian identity of the populace.Madras is divided into four broad regions: North, Central, South and West. North Madras is primarily an industrial area. South Madras and West Madras, previously mostly residential, are fast becoming commercial, home to a growing number of information technology firms, financial companies and call centres. The city is expanding quickly along the Old Mahabalipuram Road and the Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST Road) in the south and towards Ambattur, Koyambedu and Sriperumbdur in the west.Chennai is the base for the Tamil film industry, known as Kollywood. Many film personalities have gone on to become Chief Ministers of the State. M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalitha are prime examples of actors turned able administrators. M.Karunanidhi is another chief minister turned politician who has close links with the cinema industry. All mentioned above have contributed to the spread of Tamil cinema and language in India. [180] Chennai hosts major film studios, including AVM studios, so on. AVM studio is the oldest surviving studio in India.[181] As of 2012, there are 120 cinema screens in Chennai.[182] Chennai's theatres stage many Tamil plays; political satire, slapstick comedy, history, mythology and drama are among the popular genres.[183][184][185] English plays are popular in the city.Industrialisation in the city dates back to the 16th century, when textile mills manufactured goods which were exported to British during its war with France. In the late 18th century it became the only city in Asia to manufacture car engines and ancillary parts for Ships and Battle Tanks. According to Forbes magazine, Chennai is one of the fastest growing cities in the world and the only Indian city to be rated in the "Forbes-Top 10 Fastest Growing Cities in the World".[203] It is ranked 4th in hosting the maximum number of Fortune 500 companies of India, next only to Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
