Welcome, one and all, to the new home for Yesopalithan domestic sports, yasports.com! With our nation in such a financial bind in the Year of Zaiden 15 (15 years after the formation of our nation), the Yesopalithan Sports Committee was disbanded, and all government-run professional sports was lost. Much of the records of the government-run era of Yesopalithan sports can be found at the Yesopalitha Sports Newsire. Now, a new era has come - an era where amateur sports will rule the land. The professional players that were are still playing at the international level, especially in football, where all of the national team now seeks employment abroad. However, there are prospects that still want to have a future, and there is also a very healthy university-level athletic system that deserves some attention. This newswire may not provide as much detail as the YSN did (it was government-run, in fact), but it will show the sports that matter to our country, as well as which cities are good at which sport, the rivalries that will be formed, and perhaps the beginning of a new system that may come to being in the future when the financial crisis levels out. So, fans and viewers interested in Yesopalithan sports from all around the world, let the new era begin!
A Little about Yesopalitha
The Unbidden Communist Republic of Yesopalitha is a country of about 250 million located on an island off of the southeastern coast of the continent of Mystria, along with some minor islands around the main island. About four hundred miles long (six hundred forty kilometers) and three hundred miles wide (four hundred eighty kilometers) in aggregate, the country is not very big, hence densely populated. The Handoval Mountains cut the main island (which the country is named after) into nearly half from east to west, with the east of the mountains being a bit drier than the western part.
Western Yesopalitha is where most of the big port cities are, the most notable of them being Hansbrough on the northwest coast. Other notable cities include Xavier, New Hazingafar, Tarahal Lake by Lake Tarahal, and Irkan City located along the Irkan River. As one goes more toward the center, near the Handoval Mountains, there is the city of Raxton, a major logging town; Etoile, a winter paradise ski resort; Lenox, known for its fruits, and Yeharu, the coldest place in Yesopalitha. Right to the west of the Handoval Mountains is the capital, Freedom's Altar, and its lesser, but twin city, New Denal-Ithorn. Kingston is the westernmost big city, while Hampton lies to the south and Wolvesbane and Worthington lie to the north.
Some other main islands are Justice Isle and Hampton's Isle. Justice Isle is a place where the Free Peoples of Justice Isle reside. These are the Bidden who do not wish to live with the Unbidden. Their main city is Genova, a technological marvel. Another island is Hampton's Isle, a tourist resourt due to it being so south. Bristen has emerged as a condo city, and is one of the cities hit least by the nationwide depression. The Unbidden Horde, who are those that do not wish to live with the bidden, reside on Isle de L'armes, or the Island of Tears. Nikisai doesn't have many sports teams, but the Horde is very supportive of those that do play.
