The Minister was feeling uneasy. He didn't want to lose his bet with Tarquihn. He wished he'd never made it in the first place. PCG were holding the top spot and the Cats had fallen behind. Action was needed. He summoned his deputy.

Judith entered his office not knowing what to expect. Since her promotion to Deputy-Minister for Sport she had dealt mainly with the light clerical stuff and this was the first time the Minister had actually summoned her to his office for a private meeting.

"Ah Ms. Grindlett, please take a seat"

She drifted across to the chair, gracefully lowering herself onto it. The overwhelming tension in the Minister's mannerisms was immediately obvious to Judith. It was as though he wanted to tell her something, something sinister but was struggling to find the correct words.

"Yes, Mr Hjken?"
"Judith, I need to ask of you a favour. A large favour"
"May I ask what, Mr Hjken?"

Again, an uncomfortable pause as the Minister battled subconsiously with his internal vocabulary.

"I need you to make a phone-call. On my behalf"
"With all due respect Minister, making a single phone-call hardly sounds like a large favour"
"DAMMIT JUDITH, THIS IS NOT JUST ANY OLD BLOODY PHONE CALL!"

The outburst shook Judith. She sat silently waiting for the Minister to continue.

"Sorry ... I'm just a little concerned about ... about something. I need you to call this number."

He handed a small business card to Judith. It was completely black. Across the middle was a phone number, embossed in a simple type-face. She had to twist it in the light to make out the digits.

"Who is ... ?"
"Nevermind! Listen carefully. You don't need to say a name. There is only one reason anyone would phone that number. Once the phone is answered you need to say 'Friedrich Hjken requires to see Tarquihn Dultsabjr'. Nothing more, nothing less. The person at the other end should hang up after that message"
"But who ... ?"
"JUDITH! NO MORE QUESTIONS!"

She reluctantly acquiesed, reached across the Minister desk and pulled his office phone towards her. The Minister sat down and watched anxiously. Judith dialled the number. The call connected and rang several times. She and the minister sat in silent anticipation. A click and someone picked up.

"Friedrich Hjken requires to see Tarquihn Dultsabjr"

Silence, then a slow drawn-out laugh began to echo down the phone. A sultry male voice then spoke and she slammed the phone down, wide-eyed, petrified.

"He spoke to you?! What did he say? What did he say, Judith?!"
"He just said 'Hello Judith' ... "
