The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
National Hoofball Team - World Cup 62 Roster

Team History
Hoofball is easily the most popular sport in the Equestrian States. Known internationally as football or soccer, the game has long been a part of the Equestrian sporting identity. However, it was not until just a few decades ago that the first national leagues began organizing in the country, and even younger than the leagues is the Equestrian national team.

Formed prior to the 58th World Cup, the first international tournament participated in by the Equestrian States was Baptism of Fire 45. But despite the team’s decent performance, they were eliminated by the end of the group stage. Looking to redeem themselves, the Equestrians joined Market Cup V. As the tournament progressed, many teams shifted their best teams to the World Cup, but the Equestrians remained invested in the Market Cup. In the end, the Equestrian States would win the Market Cup, but thanks to their neglect of the qualifiers, failed miserably in World Cup 58.

The next appearance of the Equestrian States would come in the first regional tournament in the Pony Lands: Equestria Cup I. Organized and hosted by the Equestrian States, the tournament was not large by international standards, but given the general lack of interest in sports in the Pony Lands, it was a decent-sized competition. After finishing third in the Equestria Cup, the Equestrians looked forward to World Cup 59.

While the Equestrian performance in the World Cup 59 qualifiers was okay, the team and its supporters still felt the agony of elimination despite several upsets including a scoreless draw with the highly-ranked Jeruselem squad. Fortunately, the Equestrian States was recognized for its turnaround and was invited to compete in Cup of Harmony 51. Although the Equestrians went into the tournament with low expectations, they would silence their critics by stunning the higher-ranked West Zirconia and Darmen teams on their way to winning the group. Unfortunately, the Equestrians were drawn against Wight in the round of 16 and fell in a closely-contested match.

After two World Cup qualifying campaigns, the Equestrians were slowly rising higher in the rankings. But despite their increasing successes, few expected the Equestrian States to have a strong run as the World Cup 60 qualifiers got underway. While the team experienced a sluggish start, the Equestrians quickly recovered and upset Western Cuba on the road with a draw as the first half of the campaign came to a close. The second half of the tournament would witness a display of prowess by the Equestrian States not seen since the Market Cup. In the end, the Equestrians would advance to the playoff pods after an upset victory over Western Cuba. Their first playoff match, against West Zirconia, resulted in a surprising victory for the Equestrians and they advanced to face Astograth in a match to decide who would play in the World Cup. It was a close game, but the Equestrians would fall in additional extra time and instead of a stunning World Cup berth, went on to Cup of Harmony 52. Perhaps demotivated by just how close they came to qualifying, the Equestrians performed poorly in the Cup of Harmony. Finishing third in their group with losses to Kiryu-shi and Civil Citizenry, the Equestrians were knocked out of the tournament.

The World Cup 61 qualifiers would also prove to be painful for the Equestrian States. Despite dominant wins against several decent-ranked teams, the Equestrians struggled against several of the lowest-ranked teams in the group and found themselves in fourth place at the midpoint. Having come into the tournament looking to make the World Cup for the first time, the Equestrians knew they were far behind in the race and would have to perform well in the second half to have even a chance at a playoff spot. But cruel fate seemed to be against the Equestrian States in the tournament, and despite surprising draws on the road against both Cosumar and Krytenia, the Equestrians fell just short of advancing thanks to a couple of home draws against the lower teams that robbed the Equestrian States of the precious few points that would have allowed them to advance. To add injury to insult, starting goalkeeper High Soarin’ was unable to play in the last few critical matches thanks to an untimely injury.

Once again, the Equestrians went to compete in the Cup of Harmony as a consolation prize for their valiant efforts at qualification. The group stage was difficult, and with High Soarin’ unable to play, the Equestrians were forced to rely on back-up Mac Stevenson. While the Equestrians snuck out of the group in second place, they ran into a wall against the host nation of Turori. After 120 minutes of hard play, the match was to be decided by penalties. Equestrian fans could hardly watch as Stevenson failed to stop a single shot. Once again, the Equestrian States had come close only to be denied and eliminated.

The World Cup 62 qualifiers will be the fifth time that the Equestrians have competed in the event, but it will be only the second time that they will look to qualify from the first match day. Equestrian supporters have watched their team improve dramatically over the last few campaigns from where they were at the end of the 45th Baptism of Fire and now expect strong performances in every match no matter the opponent. Perhaps the Equestrian national team will finally have the breakthrough that it needs, perhaps they won’t. Either way, this looks to be a promising campaign for the Equestrian States.

Stadium Information
Image
Name: The Equestria Dome
Location: Canterlot, Equestrian States
Capacity: 87,500
Short Description: The Equestria Dome is the largest stadium in the Equestrian States and is located in the capital city of Canterlot. With the rapid growth of Canterlot in recent years and the increasing popularity of the city as a tourist destination for sports and other events, the National Equestrian Sports Council decided to expand upon the Equestria Dome’s original 75,000 seats. The result was a 12,500 seat increase to accommodate the waves of fans that descend upon the stadium on a regular basis. The Equestria Dome is the home of many of the Equestrian States’ national sports teams as well as several local Canterlot teams.
Image
Name: Diamond Park
Location: Stalliongrad, Equestrian States
Capacity: 75,000
Short Description: Stalliongrad is the second largest city in the Equestrian States and is located on the opposite side of the Harmony Mountains as Canterlot. Diamond Park is one of the most stunning accomplishments of equine engineering. Built into the very sides of the mountains, a carved overhang provides shelter from the sun, and unicorn magic gives the rocky stadium protection from destructive rainfall when the Ministry of Weather Control schedules it. Diamond Park takes its name from the large hoard of gems that was discovered during the stadium's excavation and helped fund the completion of the building project. The stadium is home to Stalliongrad HC as well as several other local teams.
Image
Name: Derby Field
Location: Manehattan, Equestrian States
Capacity: 65,000
Short Description: With one of the largest populations in the Equestrian States, the port city of Manehattan is home to Derby Field. Situated in the financial district of the city, the stadium is one of the oldest in the Equestrian States and has been considered several times for placement on the Equestrian Registry of Historic Sites. With a traditional-looking brick and glass exterior, it holds to the theme of beautiful architecture that is present in many Manehattan buildings. Derby Field is home to the Manehattan Dragons and also hosts many local events.
Image
Name: Sky-High Coliseum
Location: Cloudsdale, Equestrian States
Capacity: 45,000
Short Description: Cloudsdale is one of several aerial cities in the Equestrian States, though it is by far the largest. While Cloudsdale used to be inhabited solely by pegasi, advances in the magical sciences have made it possible for normally earthbound species to live and work there. However, regardless of these advances, pegasi continue to make up the majority of the population. The stadium itself is made primarily from clouds, and can be reshaped to accommodate many different sporting events. Sky-High Coliseum is home to all Cloudsdale sports teams thanks to this convertible nature.
Image
Name: Manticore Park (or "The Jungle Abode")
Location: Everfree, Equestrian States
Capacity: 49,500
Short Description: Located deep in the Everfree Forest, the city of Everfree is one of the few population centers in the Equestrian States with a majority non-equine population. Manticore Park is home to Everfree Forest HC, which has some of the wildest supporters in the National Equestrian Hoofball League. Surrounded by forest, the stadium has a rustic appearance and is often ranked high in the top sports venue polls.
Image
Name: Elements Stadium
Location: Ponyville, Equestrian States
Capacity: 42,750
Short Description: One of the newer sports facilities in the Equestrian States, Elements Stadium is named after the Elements of Harmony, which are the guiding principles of the majority faith of the nation: Harmonism. Ponyville still has a small town feel about it, as the city has expanded outward, rather than upward as Canterlot and Manehattan have done. Elements Stadium is located near the city center, and is home to most of Ponyville's sports teams.

The Iturributa National Football Team

Style: +2
Colours

Manager - Bayardo Morriyas
The 44 year-old former attacking midfielder played out his entire career at Royal Association, with some brief appearances for the Astograthian national team, and after retiring was involved in the Khuril seaplane disaster during the World Cup 56 qualifiers. Taking on old friend and Astograthian captain Estebe Bularte as assistant manager, he got the job at Iturributa Racing Club some years ago and took them to their first silverware, two Iturributan domestic cups. He has now been tasked with taking Iturributa to the World Cup - in Astograth, no less - and to do so he has maintained the same strategy as Aiza Sein but with an emphasis on younger players, taking advantage of the tremendously prolific youth academies of the two biggest Iturributan clubs.

Starting XI:

#1 - GK - Zernin Aira (C) - Age 35 - Sporting Iturributa - 37 caps, 59 goals conceded, 10 clean sheets
After a long spell at Erathi giants Royal Vosaroni Antenelli, one of the most capped players for Astograth has returned to Sporting and commanded the Iturributan national team in their international outings; this will be Aira's eighth qualifying campaign in a row, counting the ones where he also turned out for Olibondeka, and will no doubt be his last. A legend in goal, he commands respect on and off the pitch.

#2 - LB - Gilen Salbarrei - Age 24 - Sporting Iturributa - Uncapped
Committed left-back from the notoriously defensive Sporting, whose back line has been fully replicated in the squad this time around. Morriyas hopes to offset any lack of international experience or playing time - Salbarrei is second in line to Ellis Sanders - by fielding a group of players that is already familiar and feels comfortable with each other.

#4 - CB - Sotil Burruchaga - Age 33 - Sporting Iturributa - 35 caps, 1 goal
Pinched while young from Royal Association and perfected at Sporting's prolific school of defenders, he adapted to the Chevrons' first team without a problem and makes his presence felt with size and grit, an immovable component of his successful club and, previously, the Astograthian national team. He's not fast at all, which can make counter-attacks costly, but he and his partners know each other well enough to minimise risks.

#5 - CB – Mikel Aluztiza - Age 24 – Sporting Iturributa - 10 caps
One of the standout players of Sporting's double-winning side at only 21, Aluztiza has all the makings of a Sporting-brand defender: a smart, tactical mind, good feet, discipline and iron will. Technically very good, though he of course hasn't been tested against the very best yet.

#12 - RB – Ixona Zarrasbeitia - Age 25 - Sporting Iturributa - 32 caps, 1 goal
Another bright young defender product of the Sporting academy, Zarrasbeitia has replaced Eneko Dorregaray as the Chevrons' right-back and has cemented his place in the starting lineup with his resilience, tracking and marking defenders tirelessly and effectively. Isn't an attacking presence, but can deliver good long balls to start off plays.

#6 - DM – Agoztar Gorstiaga - Age 29 - Image Jan Mayen Islanders - 35 caps, 2 goals
Gorstiaga has shown his quick feet and pinpoint passing throughout the world, first in Kagdazka and Pazhujebu where he won multiple league titles and the Champions' Cup with FKM, with the Astograthian national team, in the domestic First Division with a memorable season at Urbizania Wanderers and now at top Polarian side Jan Mayen Islanders. One of the best the team has to offer and undoubtedly its central pillar, Gorstiaga has excelled at carrying Iturributa forward.

#7 - LM – Zuzen Barta - Age 29 – Image Northbrook Diamonds FK - 34 caps, 5 goals
A quick little devil who rose through the ranks of Iturributa United and the Astograth U21 national team, competing in three Di Bradini Cups before earning a place in the teams that reached the finals of World Cup 57 and 59. A key part of Polarian up-and-comers Northbrook Diamonds, he brings his talent to Iturributa now, capable of splitting open any defense with a mazing run.

#20 - RM - Leizarraga Lukuix - Age 29 - Image Astograth University - 43 caps, 6 goals
Diametrically opposed to Barta in that he doesn't go for the run or dribble as much as he recovers the ball, Lukuix beats the defender with a sudden sprint and crosses early to beat the offside trap. Rose from the modest Athletic Club Olarria to the previously-modest Astograth University, who he led to a league title and which are now one of the top sides in the highly competitive First Division.

#11 - LCF - Yeremi Belaustigetigoitia - Age 19 - Sporting Iturributa - Uncapped
A surprise inclusion into the Iturributan squad, nevermind the starting lineup, Yeremi Belaustigetigoitia is not just a conundrum for the kit man but also the most exciting young prospect of Sporting Iturributa - which isn't peanuts considering the quality of their youth system. He became a regular member of the matchday squad last season and immediately began scoring goals, alerting Morriyas, who has taken a gamble that could pay off very handsomely.

#10 - CF - Kauldi Isasmendi - Age 29 - Image Echegoyan FC - 36 caps, 14 goals
A striker with plenty of experience and a league title at Echegoyan FC. Fairly mobile and not lacking in nerve, but excess in the dribble means he can miss the chance to score or assist a teammate; nevertheless he is a very reliable man to have up front. Is currently the nation's top scorer, though Boneta is hot on his heels and their rivalry could reach boiling point in the latter stages of the qualifiers.

#9 - CF - Emenon Boneta - Age 31 - Image Rapid Jan Mayen - 36 caps, 12 goals
Loyal to the bone, he left the modest Freedom FC with a large transfer fee and countless memorable goals to search for more competitive football in the Polarian Divisjon One. Strong, cheerful and determined, you can never count out Boneta when he's on the pitch, especially if Isasmendi's arrogance is there spurring him to excel.

Substitutes:

#13 - GK – Yoritz Suastegi - Age 27 - Image Blue Mountain Range - Uncapped
#23 - GK - Alaon Larraza - Age 32 - Iturributa United - 7 caps, 7 goals against, 2 clean sheets
Suastegi is a proven goalkeeper with plenty of experience in the Astograthian league, currently playing for the defensively demanding Blue Mountain Range and running with advantage to be Aira's successor. Larraza, meanwhile, has been United's substitute keeper for years and represented Iturributa in its early Cuppet days.

#3 - LB – Arabante Kelay - Age 21 – Image Ituraitz FC - Uncapped
#19 - CB - Elatzar Lakoste - Age 23 - Iturributa United - Uncapped
#14 - CB - Edur Maskiaran - Age 20 - Iturributa United - Uncapped
#8 - RB – Bakar Laranaga - Age 28 - Image Astograth University - Uncapped
The substitute defenders are all uncapped, mainly young and inexperienced. Kelay is one of the starlets of Ituraitz FC, preparing to line up for one of the strongest clubs in Astograth in due time, while Lakoste and Maskiaran are similarly being slowly eased into the ageing first eleven of Iturributa United. Bakar Laranaga is a different story; though he doesn't see as much action as the other defenders of Astograth University, he has titles under his belt and many seasons played in the First Division across various clubs.

#15 - DM – Tzemeno Baxterrika - Age 25 - Sporting Iturributa
#21 - LM – Sandaili Iturraspe - Age 30 – Iturributa United - 22 caps, 1 goal
#16 - RM - Altzibar Salutregi - Age 24 - Image SC Montfort - 14 caps, 1 goal
The midfielders are a diverse bunch. Baxterrika has successfuly replaced Gartzi Oramuno as Sporting Iturributa's main playmaker alongside Artur Rochemback, a position of great responsability and demand. Iturraspe, meanwhile, isn't as fast as before when gunning down the wing of Iturributa United, and Salutregi showcases his skill at Licentian giants SC Montfort.

#22 - LCF – Orzaize Lizaran - Age 31 - Image Willingham AC - 5 caps
#17 - CF - Tibalt Kereyasu - Age 29 - Image Blue Mountain Range - 19 caps, 3 goals
#18 - RCF – Adon Aburto - Age 25 - Image Lermendia FC - Uncapped
Lizaran received his second call-up since he reached the final of the first World Cuppet with Iturributa, and will be hoping to get more time and goals this cycle, while Kereyasu still needs to transfer his club form. Adon Aburto comes from modest outfit Lermendia FC on great form, as the club's top scorer and in the eye of several more powerful temas.

Captain: Zernin Aira
Free Kick Taker: Leizarraga Lukuix
Penalty Taker: Emenon Boneta
Right Corner: Zuzen Barta
Left Corner: Leizarraga Lukuix

All of the Free Republic's home matches will be played at the 72,000-seater Old City Stadium in Iturributa's eponymous capital city. The stadium is large, lively and full of tradition, serving as the home ground of both Iturributa United and Sporting Iturributa; the expectation to see the national team play is enormous, so oversold games shouldn't come as a surprise.

YES to all RP permissions, barring any career-ending incidents. If you have any questions about anything, please do TG this nation or Astograth.

WESTERN CUBAN OFFICIAL NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER
World Cup 62

Image

By: Felipe Herrera

Finally Anatoly Markin hit rock bottom, the WCSA finally decided to can Markin after getting knocked out in the group stage of the Copa Rushmori, the competition Markin had previously won. In a surprising turn of events, instead of going international, like many wanted, the WCSA hired Cayo Vargas. A former, highly popular veteran player of Western Cuba. Things will get interesting in this World Cup.

Information:
Rank: 63
Formation: 4-2-4
Style Modifier: +5

Coaching Staff:

Manager: Cayo Vargas: Cayo has never had a coaching position in soccer before, but now he finds himself as manager of the national team. There is a big question mark on Cayo. However people are already praising him for the many changes he has put into this national team. While some of them are questionable, especially his risk at putting a 4-2-4 formation into the team, many of them are being praised.

In an interesting turn of events though, Vargas canned his assistant coach and never replaced him. We'll see in qualifying on how that goes for him.

Starting 11:

#1, Goalkeeper, Armando Santos: Santos was almost unnoticeable during the Copa Rushmori, it wasn't that he was horrendous or anything. His defense was, which explains why only two of them is returning to the starting roster. Hopefully we will get to see the true Santos in real form this World Cup, with an actual defense.

#5, Fullback, Shin Denisov: After having a poor world cup campaign, Shin rebounded and played well defense on the left side of the field for Western Cuba. Too bad the only other one to play well was Gabriel Ruiz. Hopefully the two new players will do a better job.
T
#8, Center back, Fabio Acin: Fabio is a relatively unknown player in the scene for the national team. It came a surprise to all of us when he was selected for the national team. I guess Cayo Vargas sees something in Fabio that we don't. And I guess the way the defense is playing, it doesn't hurt to give Fabio a chance. While being relatively unknown, after looking at some video, Fabio has played well at Ovalle City. One of the few bright spots for a bottom-tier team in the WCPL.

#3, Center back, Gabriel Ruiz: There is no question Ruiz is a great defensive player. But there is one problem, Ruiz doesn't appear to be much of a leader. If it wasn't for the poor quality of this defense, Ruiz wouldn't be a captain. He has much to prove this World Cup, and one of them is his leadership abilities. If someone else on the defense steps us, his days as captain may be over.

#11, Fullback, Patricio Posas: Now this guy may be the real deal! Posas played outstanding last season for Ciudad Seville and now has the chance to take his talent to the national team. Posas may be the boast the national team needs on defense. The defense is young though, so things will get heated.

#22, Halfback, Alberto Perez This guy keeps on getting more interesting and interesting. The man still hasn't signed with a club. Even though it has been rumored that he has received multiple offers from teams around the country, and even internationally. He keeps on somehow getting better though, which I'm not going to complain about. Perez will be tested though fitting into his new role, and that's being a halfback in the middle of the field along with De Santa. The formation Vargas has placed down requires quick tactical awareness, and this will be Perez's big test. If he plays well, it will be a score for club interest.

#10, Halfback, Vincent De Santa In the dangerous, risky, but possibly rewarding 4-2-4 Vargas has gone with, De Santa fits the role perfectly. His speed, awareness, and agility make him a wonder in the midfield. If De Santa plays at his peak during this World Cup, there shouldn't be much of a problem in the midfield.

#19, Winger, Ricardo Calderón The two center forwards on this offense are world-class, but even the wingers are pretty good. Calderon is probably one of the most under-rated players on this team, and deserves some of the credit of the teams' success on the offensive side of the ball. He should prosper along with the rest of the offense.

#11, Center Forward, Edgardo Mendoza He's getting older, but he is still two things, the face of this team, and world-class. Mendoza doesn't have the speed he used to have, but he still has the awareness and foot skills to be a wonderful forward. For the front four, Vargas has them playing in a diamond, with Mendoza on top.

#21, Center Forward, Tito Moreno The only thing preventing Moreno from becoming the face of this team is all the lovers of Edgardo Mendoza. It's going to be hard letting go of Mendoza as the best player on this team, but this World Cup may be the start of the transition.

#7, Winger, Konstantin Yevtushenko This is probably one of the greatest comebacks in soccer history for Western Cuba. Konstantin was previously a member of the national team for Western Cuba, but suffered multiple setbacks with injuries. Strangely, Konstantin thrived in beach soccer and then returned to domestic soccer. Leading the WCPL in goals scored, along with beach soccer partner, Tom Dawson. If Konstantin suffers no injuries, he may be a huge addition to this offense.

Bench:
#31, Offense, Tom Dawson
#25, Offense, Diego Nanez
#19, Halfback, Goyo Soto
#13, Halfback, Matro Carpio
#04, Defense, Esteban Sanchez
#14, Defense, Chico Senteno

The Legalese Federation of Association Football presents...

The World Cup 62 Roster

A few notes:
-All usual starters are listed with kit numbers 1-11, however it will not be a major faux pas to utilize a reserve, if one were to wish.
-The team's style modifier is a mostly aggressive +4 (assuming that the lateness of the roster will allow such an option)
-Ages are valid for the qualifying stage, as Legalese utilizes a two-year timeline per cycle; should one list the age of a player during the World Cup finals/the CoH, the proper age will be one year greater.
-RP Permissions: As has become customary for Legalese, My opponent, should they RP first, shall have any and all permissions for which they provide to their opponents (should they RP first). Should one offer all permissions to their opponent, they shall have all permissions when dealing with my side; should they offer few to none, the same goes when dealing with me. Should my opponent somehow RP first but not have a roster posted, they shall not be permitted a damn thing.

And now, for the squad:

(The Usual) Starters:

GK: 1 – Tarquin Waldrop, 20, Myre Town. Tarquin is the youngest starter for this experienced side, and the only one to not see a minute of play in the World Cup Finals, though he did make a 30-minute appearance late in qualifying, after Legalese locked up the group. Stan Thate's refusal to stop aging led Cushing to place Waldrop in the net for the AOCAF, where he conceded six goals in four matches, and had one clean sheet; on the strength of this performance, he was named the qualifying starter, and given the #1 that Thate has worn for years.
D: 2 – Joe Ellsworth, 27, The Knights of Tiberia. Ellsworth, initially on the outs prior to World Cup 61, turned in a number of fine performances, contributing to the two shutouts in qualifying against the eventual champs. He now has 34 starts and 36 appearances to his name.
D: 3 - Liam Todd, 27, Argyle Warriors. Todd established himself as the new anchor in the defensive middle back in AOCAF 36, and has five goals internationally, mostly off of corners.
D: 4 – Phil Livingston, 30, Cragland Climbers. At this point two years ago, Phil Livingston appeared to be ready to retire from international play - and many expect him to be more of a role player in the upcoming qualifying. However, his AOCAF performance has maintained his place on the squad.
DM: 5 - Sam Washington, 27, Bob's Towing. Sam is known for his ability to play back as a fourth defender if necessary, but will generally press forward. At a young age, Sam is still heavy on international experience, with three full cup campaigns.
M: 6 – Jack Wayne, 25, Brecorn City. Jack, previously a reserve during WC60, made the most of his trial appearance in the starting lineup during the AOCAF, credited with an assist during the opener vs. Bazalonia. Now a regular for the National side, he hopes to shine.
M: 7 - Monte Kelshimer, 26, Tiberian City. Monte, now at twenty-five caps for the National Team, is a bit of a youngster to the side, having only the previous cup cycle of experience.
M: 8 - Archie Sanroman, 33, Draig Goch FC. The Captain returns. At 31 years old and with 55 caps, Archie has the most international appearances for any Legalite. Only one things eludes him - a major trophy.
F: 9 - Garry Maharry, 27, Bob's Towing. Garry has settled into his role of playing the withdrawn forward, completing WC 61 in that position.
F: 10 - Jimmy Jay, 26, Bob's Towing. While Jay has a history of being hot and cold, his performances in the absence of Bassford during a considerable chunk of qualifying helped carry Legalese to the finals. He had moderate success in the most recent AOCAF, but hopes that his work on the main stage, including a goal in the World Cup Group Stage, will be indicative of his performance now. After all, what's better than having not one, but two international stars on your team?
F: 11 - Kelvin Bassford, 27, Draig Goch FC. Speaking of international stars, Kelvin remains the nation's first true achiever. Now with three World Cup cycles and two AOCAF tournaments (non-consecutive) to his name, he's scored 29 international goals. The shades get a little less air time than they used to, but the important thing is that his ankle is 100% again.
Reserves:
12 - Roy Whitcraft, 27, Ostia Ostriches.(D) Roy had his chance in the lineup during the AOCAF, but a sending-off helped seal his return to the bench.
13 – Kenny Stroud, 19, International of Tyrellia (D)
15 – Lane Wilson, 20, LC Capitals. Wilson, a native of Binchensburg, became the youngest player in National Team history in the AOCAF 36 opener – only to be unseated two matches later. His performance not only led to a return as a reserve for the cycle, but also led to his acquisition by the LC Capitals.
16 – Xavier Boyle, 22, Bob’s Towing (F)
17 - Fred Rutledge, 25, Francis City (F)
18 - Dwight Marcus, 21, Rhinos (D)
19 – Ty Henderson, 20, Tiberian City (M)
20 – Titus Armistead, 20, The Knights of Tiberia (M)
21 – Sherwood Hendry, 23, Ellentown Exempts (M)
22 – Stan Thate, 32, Rhinos (GK). Thate heads to the bench, for now. However, should the Wall-drop come tumbling down...

Staff:
Manager - Gabe Cushing - this becomes Cushing's fifth World Cup as manager. Known for an aggressive style of play, Gabe, now 52, has already taken this team further than most expected - sweeping the eventual runners-up from The Sylvanaes Queendom to qualify, and drawing them again in the group stage. Now he's just sticking around to get a trophy.

Assistant: Hamish McKinley. McKinley, 33, took on a brief stint as manager for the 36th AOCAF, returning (as planned) to his assistant's post after the competition.

Other persons of note:
Bernie Wickerstaff, President of the Federation. - generally not present for travel, but will come into play from time to time for RP elements taking place in Legalese.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers Y - The attacking third are a talented bunch and there are playmaking options from both Saegerson and Cho while Storm and Bolt provide excellent crosses and cut-ins from the flanks; these are all centered on the target man, Sandy Steamroller.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Head Coach: Blue Thunder (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 48) - Internationally renowned for his success as a manager for Silverwich City, Blue Thunder's potential was instantly recognized by the Conclespian Football Association and he was swiftly recruited as the manager for the national team. Known for his strict and disciplined approach to his coaching, his philosophy on the pitch contrasts his personality and he utilizes a free-flowing 4-2-3-1 formation with an emphasis on keeping possession via short, quick passes. Also, his wide players are a major part of his offensive strategy and he prefers them to be very technically skilled, with the fullbacks pressing forward to support the wingers. When outmatched or on the defensive he prefers to play a swift and sharp counter-attack that catches opponents off-guard.

Assistant Coach: Rising Tide (Pegasus Pony - Female)

Nickname: The Schoolboys

Style Modifier: + 4.0

Starting Lineup:

1, Goalkeeper: Matthew Peterson (Human - Male - Age: 28 - Club: Askern) - The distinguished and internationally renowned goalkeeper of Askern Football Club, Peterson is a goalkeeper known for his athletic and shot-stopping ability as well as his quick reflexes.

3, Leftback: Benjamin Hunslaar (Human - Male - Age: 25 - Club: Silverwich City) - Hunslaar is known for his bursts up the field and is more of a winger than a defender at times; him linking up with Lightning Bolt is often the source of goals as his curling crosses often reach the target man. However, this offensive mindset of his has often left a gap in the defensive wall and this can be a weakness when the team is caught on the breakaway. He plays for Silverwich City FC.

4, Centerback: Thomas Equitar (Human - Male - Age: 24 - Club: Moonich City) - Thomas Equitar almost forms an impenetrable defensive wall when he partners up with Headstrong; known for his strong tackles and ability to read the game, he has often made countless vital interceptions that would have let opposition strikers through on goal.

14, Centerback: Headstrong (Unicorn - Male - Age: 25 - Club: Caislaard) - True to his name, this defender's strength is undoubtedly his aerial ability and he has proven this over and over again for both club and country, his ability immortalized when he charged into the the box during a corner kick and executed a diving header crashing into goal, securing a place in the top four for Silverwich City.

5, Rightback: Ethan Dunlap (Human - Male - Age: 27 - Club: Sheffire United) - Dunlap is renowned and respected among his fellow professionals for his tireless work ethic and attitude towards the game. Sturdy in defense and also motivational in offense, he has often been the rallying point for his peers when his team is caught on the counterattack.

13, Left Defensive Midfield: Daniel Saegerson (Human - Male - Age: 22 - Club: Caislaard) - Known for his integral role in his club, Caislaard FC, in guiding them to the FA Cup, Saegerson has great vision and his distribution skills are one of the best, which have helped set up quite a few goals in his experiences playing for both his club and the national team. He is also known for his high defensive work rate which has often broken up surges by the opposition.

25, Right Defensive Midfield: Blade Runner (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 23 - Club: West Lumminense) - Blade Runner is a pony known for his quick temper but also his willingness to comply with team tactics. He is renowned for his long-throws which have led to goals scored on several occasions, and also his hard and sometimes malicious challenges on opponents. For this, he had to be disciplined several times due to occasional fights with opponents or arguments with the referee.

7, Left Attacking Midfield: Lightning Bolt (Pegasus Pony - Male - Age: 26 - Club: Askern) - True to his name, Bolt is renowned for his quick speed and acceleration, and uses his trickery to get around defenders. He also has a good crossing ability to get the ball into the box, something that his club uses to it's full extent.

10, Center Attacking Midfield: Ryan Cho (Human - Male - Age: 29 - Club: Silverwich City) - A distinguished player for both club and country, Cho is known for his great passing ability and vision as well as his unfailing composure under pressure, his work ethic and his leadership on and off of the pitch, qualities that are the reasons why he's the captain for both Silverwich City and the national team.

11, Right Attacking Midfield: Canyon Storm (Pegasus Pony - Male - Age: 27 - Club: West Lumminense) - Canyon Storm is a winger known for his excellent ball control and crossing ability as well as his superb finishing, often able to score from 20 yards or more. He often links up with his rightback, Ethan Dunlap, whenever the defender overlaps or gives him options.

9, Striker: Sandy Steamroller (Pegasus Pony - Male - Age: 20 - Club: Askern) - Known for his accurate and fierce shot, this starlet is one of the most valued young players in Conclespia, and has already stamped his hoof into the starting eleven of Askern FC at a mere 19 years of age due to his prolific goalscoring. He is also by far the youngest member of the squad, even for a team that has no players above the age of 29.

Substitutes:

18, Goalkeeper: Orange Cider (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 31 - Club: Silverwich City) - The starting goalkeeper for Silverwich City, Orange Cider is known for his easygoing attitude, being the "joker" of the squad, and also his reliability in goal and is a more-than-capable replacement for Matthew Peterson.

22, Leftback: Jacob Akordiance (Human - Male - Age: 28 - Club: Patriarch) - Solid and dependable in defense, Akordiance is a starter for Patriarch and has more than once saved his club when they were exposed, running back to cover and also clearing off the lines.

12, Centerback: Road Rage (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 25 - Club: Sheffire United) - Road Rage is renowned for his discipline in defense and his strong but fair tackles. Although he was lacking match fitness due to injury for much of the regular season, he recovered just in time for the tournament and is a vice-captain for the team.

17, Left Wing/Midfielder: Fred Watson (Human - Male - Age: 21 - Club: West Lumminense) - Watson is undoubtedly one of the fastest members of the squad, reaching speeds of up to 32 kilometers per hour (only behind Lightning Bolt, who reaches speeds of up to 37 kilometers) during his sprints down the flanks. He is one of the youngest players on the squad, at the age of 20 years and 3 months and he is one of the best dribblers on the team. However, he has sometimes been criticized for spending too much time on the ball and has been chastised by Blue Thunder for it, but recently has become more of a team player with his crosses and cut-backs into the box.

19, Center Midfielder: Thunder Storm (Unicorn - Male - Age: 19 - Club: Patriarch) - Thunder Storm is known for his bursts of excellence but also for his inconsistency. At his best, his displays in midfield are dazzling but at worst he is awfully unproductive and even detrimental towards the team's performance as a whole, which is why he spends most of the time on the bench. However, due to his unripe age and him being one of the four youngsters on the squad (Steamroller, Watson, Sevlari, and himself), he is expected to develop into a great midfielder.

23, Striker/Center Forward: Colin Manning (Human - Male - Age: 32 - Club: Caislaard - VICE CAPTAIN) - Manning is one of the oldest and most experienced members of the squad. Despite being in the twilight stages of his career, he is a consistent starter for Caislaard FC and is known for his ability to hold up the penalty box and is good at scoring from set pieces.

6, Attacking/Center Midfielder: Blizzard Edinsborough (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 27 - Club: Moonich City) - This midfielder is known for his cool personality and his calm in the storm. He is unwavering in the face of pressure and is not afraid to take on stronger players, albeit his diminutive size. He has a human last name due to him being adopted by a human couple, Tony and Mary Edinsborough.

21, Center Forward: Sugar Rush (Earth Pony - Male - Age: 29 - Club: Patriarch) - His name fits his work ethic as Sugar Rush can be found all over the pitch during a match. He has endless reserves of energy and this forward uses this to his advantage as he often pops up in the right areas likes to play a very physical game, often going after headers and challenging the opposing centerbacks.

26, Rightback: Jeremy Hunslaar (Human - Male - Age: 25 - Club: Askern) - The younger twin brother of Benjamin Hunslaar, this fullback is the exact opposite of his sibling in terms of playing style, personality and position. In contrast to his brother, Jeremy is known for his quiet and humble personality and his tendency to be reserved in matches and sitting back in defense. However, his commitment to the game is unwavering and he is respected by his teammates for this.

24, Defensive Midfielder: Jason Sevlari (Human - Male - Age: 20 - Club: West Lumminense) Bred in the famous Est Schact (literally, "The Barn") academy of West Lumminense FC, this up-and-coming defensive midfielder is one of the most-vied for prospects in the nation, the quick tempo and pin-point accuracy of his passing keeping the flow of the game moving. Also, his defensive work rate is astounding and he often stops opposition advances with his strong challenges and harrying of their players, giving deep-lying playmakers such as Daniel Saegerson the time to get his creative juices flowing. Although at the ripe age of 20, he is already seen by many supporters and pundits as a strong challenger for a place in the starting lineup against his club teammate Blade Runner.

Permafrost Arena (cap. 55,000) - The home stadium of of Caislaard FC, this resembles a crystal ball at night, a definite landmark of the city. Two huge screens outside the arena provide live coverage of the national team during international friendlies or tournaments and is often a source of hundreds of thousands of supporters watching.

Blacksmith's Cauldron (cap. 87,533) - This historic stadium has become a national landmark, located high in the mountains of the Eastern Lumminent Spur in Silverwich. The ground has served as the home of Silverwich City FC since it's inception in 1882, and it's name comes from the intense atmosphere of the fans and supporters, giving visiting players the sense of being boiled in a cauldron.

The West Zirconian Football Association has issued an apology for the belated naming of the squad for the World Cup qualifying campaign. A spokesman blamed the delay on a nationwide postal strike, but no-one believed him.

GK Mike Chapman (Bradley Hornets)
DL Jason Clemence (Markham)
DC James Kenny (Houghton Kestrels)
DC Karl-Heinz Holzmann (Wacker Neustadt)
DR Jon Wood (Stanley United)
ML Gary Tandy (Banks)
MC Tom Chamberlain (Kirkham Town)
MC Andy Peters (c) (Mort Park)
MR Ray Scott (Taylor's Cross)
FW Alun Lydiate (Bradley Hornets)
FW Steve Allerton (Stanley United)

Substitutes:

Goalkeepers:
Mike Leonard (Banks)
Steve Pearce (Stanley United)

Defenders:
Harry Turner (Markham)
Adam Clarke (St. Martin Athletic)
Steve West (Taylor's Cross)

Midfielders:
Paul McCoy (Bradley Hornets)
Andy Cotton (Stanley United)
Liam Smith (Taylor's Cross)

Forwards:
Scott Woods (Markham)
Ross Goodey (Banks)
James Newton (Mort Park)

[OOC: Style qualifier - a counter-attacking +1. Do anything that would be at least remotely realistically possible - the funnier the better.]

[OOC Part 2: Apologies to all, but I've not really been in the mood for this these past few months - hence no real RP. Hopefully I'll get back into it this time...]

The Roster
When RP'ing, the name of my players in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS AND BOLD are the player's family names. These are the names on their jersey and the name professional commentators would call out when making observations. Also, do not write the names in all capital letters, as this is somewhat annoying when reading; I just imagine someone reading calmly along then suddenly SHOUTING the player's name. For example, if writing about FENG Shaoli making a long shot, one would write "Feng made a long shot..." as opposed to "FENG made a long shot..." If you have any further questions regarding names, please feel free to telegram me.

Players age ONE YEAR in-between cups.

Starting players will have their names in GREEN type
Alternate players will have their names in BLUE type
Reserve Players will have their names in STANDARD type.
Travelling Players will be in tables.

22- Bai'a KITA
Height: 183cm - Weight: 79kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: FC Mando
A goalkeeper who is known for having a short attention span, Kita is the epitomy of a Mandalorian goalkeeper: Known for taking excessive risks, bum-rushing an opponent to make a distant steal and playing on the rim of the box, Kita is a gamble in any game he appears in. Perhaps that is why he is the second goalkeeper for the Bisons; maybe why he is a member of FC Mando too...

While his form is less chiseled than Nishimura, Kita enjoys a great camaraderie with many of his teammates; something the older starter seems to lack; perhaps it is an age difference, perhaps it is cultural. However, whatever it is, when in the net, Kita is able to almost control the game with shouts in Mando'a and giant hand signals. After making the move from back-up goalkeeper to the starting in the 50th Cup of Harmony, Kita continues to mature and distance himself and his style from that of his predecessor, Nishimura Kenshin.

1- NISHIMURA Kenshin
Height: 187cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 36 years old - Team: RC United
The second-oldest player on the team, Nishimura may also be the most agile. A top-form goalkeeper in his last ten seasons with RC United, Nishimura has established himself as the 'veteran' on a team which will be making its fifth World Cup appearance.

Unfortunately for Nishimura, he has reached a wall in his career; a wall he cannot surmount. Due to this invisible wall, Bai’a Kita has replaced the veteran as starting goalkeeper for the team, and as such, has seen Nishimura brought in only when Kita is unable to recover and make those critical saves; or when the team needs the veteran experience to conquer a stronger foe. In what is likely to be his last World Cup for the Bisons, Nishimura is seeking to break through that wall, and go out on top.

33- CHU Takumi
Height: 183cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 25 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED
The youngest member of the Goalkeeping Corps, Chu has made just ten caps for the Bisons, seeing his first cap in World Cup 60 following Bai’a Kita’s tournament-ending ankle strain and Nishimura’s poor performance against The Arhcregimacy; Chu would come into the game, with the Bisons down 1-3, and keep the Monks from scoring any more.

Travelling With the Team

Name Age School Nation
SHU Guatami 17 Southern High School (Chin) Earth
JI Liangzu 17 Azulon State Secondary School (Shu Jing) Fire

Brought along last World Cup, both Shu Guatami and Ji Liangzu have continued to develop at home. At Azulon State Secondary School, Ji has earned the first Goalkeeper position against Number-One college prospect Kio Ozai. As for Shu, at Southern High School (Chin), he enjoyed the starting position in the Earth Kingdom High School Football Championship game against King Chui III High School with a 5-nil shutout.

Impressive skills for the future of the Bisons...

Left Defenders:
2- MIYAMOTO Kaoru
Height: 187cm - Weight: 82kg – Age: 26 years old - Team: Kuruk FC
A big defender with the skills to back up his talk, Miyamoto Kaoru is an impressive specimen of a defender. Playing for arguably one of the best teams in the RPFL has hardened this man into an imposing wall of strength on the backfield. Prepare to see plenty of tackles, shoves and general rough play from a man who grew up playing meshgeroya; an Avatarian variation of football also known as 'limmie' or 'bolo-ball'.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A
CAPS: 112 :: GOALS: 0 :: WC's PLAYED: 57-61

12- AKIYAMA Qiangyi
Height: 183cm - Weight: 86kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED

Much like Miyamoto, Akiyama is a no-nonsense player. He has no problem laying an opponent out for a fowl, and as such as earned the most red cards in a single season by any player in the Modern Era (12) as well as garnishing multiple suspensions. He is a rough player who pairs perfectly with Miyamoto and the two have earned the moniker, ”The Dueling Mandos” by the media.
CAPS: 63 :: GOALS: 0 :: WC's PLAYED: 57-61

16- ZHANG Jijian
Height: 178cm - Weight: 75kg – Age: 24 years old - Team: RC United
A young player who was drafted five seasons ago to the Premier Cup champions RC United, Zhang is still a young player with much to learn from his teammates. While he lacks the size of Akiyama and Miyamoto, he most certainly does not lack on the heart: During practice skirmishes, Zhang is often found opposite Miyamoto and has thrown himself full-force into the 'Mando Mauler', only to receive a week-ending injury as a parting gift.
Rating: B - Team Relationship: C - Morale: A - Form: A
CAPS: 6 :: GOALS: 0 :: WC's PLAYED: 57, 58, 60, 61

Central Defenders
5- KIM Dong Su
Height: 178cm - Weight: 75kg – Age: 28 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED
Not a highly-rated player for the Bison defence, however, Kim has shown himself to be a surprise in many a games; a fine defensive player, Kim is also a very good option for the full-back position when results are needed. He supports the offence well, with very strong passing and marking skills.

Outside the stadium, Kim is the morale of the team. Often telling jokes and giving out care packages, he is loved by the fans and by the media for his often-spirited antics and interviews

15- WONG Haru
Height: 185cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 22 years old - Team: University of Kibago

Given his size, one would expect Wong to have a style of play more similar to Fujimoto. However, growing up playing in the offensive-orientated Earth Kingdom's LEAGUE ROYALE shaped Wong into a speed-demon in the body of a tank. He is quick to run, able to outpace many of his teammates and overtake many of his opponents. His endurance is bar-none the best of the team, which Coach Vhett attributes to his genes; the son of a clone trooper with the Avatarian Republics' Mandalorian Corps, Wong shares similar genetics to several other players as well as Vhett himself.

Set to graduate at the end of this World Cup, Wong is still undecided as to what team he wishes to play for. As of now, the top three teams involved in the selection are FC Mando, Southern AFC, and even RC United. Ideally, Wong would stay in the Mandalorian regions and move to FC Mando in the northern provinces.... but you never know how trades work out.

6- FUJIMOTO Zhong
Height: 175cm - Weight: 70kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: RC United
Extremely fast given his size, Fujimoto is a full-back more focused on the offence, and can have some minor difficulties when tasked with defence. Able to quickly counter any attack placed before him, Fujimoto serves as a valuable link between the offence and the defence. An excellent sniper, Fujimoto is one of the best free-kickers on the team, being able to take pieces with either pure technique, pure strength or a combination of the two; exceeding in both styles is a rare form in Avatarian football.

However, every gem has its imperfection and for Fujimoto, it is discipline. With such natural talent coming easy, Fujimoto has yet to truly have to work to exceed: Rather, he naturally falls into the game and succeeds at almost everything he does. However, with the years passing and Fujimoto gaining wisdom in his age, discipline is slowly coming to him.

Right Defenders:

13- BAO Yiyong
Height: 177cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 25 years old - Team: Southern AFC

While certainly not the oldest player in the defence, Bao serves to give a bit of balance between the youth beneath him and the seniority above him. Following a recent trade from Kuruk FC to Southern AC, Bao has found a new obsession in the form of his new teammates. Yet, he still has a tendency to indulge in a little too much liquor and little too many loose women.

While still not as strong as Kobayashi, Bao did appear in as many games as his counterpart due to WC60’s experiment in formations. However, with the Bisons returning to the familiar 4-4-2, Bao finds himself yet again on the alternate list.

3- KOBAYASHI Ren
Height: 187cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: FC Beijing
The veteran of the Defenders, Kobayashi is a mixture of strength, speed, techicality and violence. He is strong for his size, though the restraint he shows upon merging on an attacker is admirable. He is a bit of a 'bully', often provoking his opponent to the point of breaking just for the fun of it all.

23- XU Lingbo
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 24 years old - Team: Republic FC (Taap-B)

One of the more youth players on the team, Xu has fallen under the tutelage of Kobayashi, so much that the two right defenders room together on every road trip, visit one another during bye weeks and , when Xu was a student at RCSU, Kobayashi --- an Alumni of RCSU --- would constantly visit Xu to help him with his skills.

This tutelage has resulted in the shifting of Xu's skill-set, from more of a reserved full-back to a matured one, capable of running with his opponent, stealing the ball quick and passing it off up-pitch even faster. After being drafted out of college into Republic FC, a Taap-B team in the RPFL, Xu has continued to develop and will one day become a fine defender...

Travelling With the Team

Position	Name Age School Nation
RD SUZUKI Juro 17 Hirohito Secondary School (Nagasami) Fire
RD TAKASHI Isamu 16 Minato Community Secondary School (Kyotshi) Fire
LD TANAKA Daiki 19 Republic City State University Earth
LD KATO Tarou 18 University of Omashu Earth
CD ZHOU Juyun 17 Changyen Academy (Changyen) Earth

The young travelling defencemen come from two distinctive backgrounds; wealth in the Earth Kingdom, or middle-class-spoiling in the Fire Nation. The three players from the Earth Kingdom come from two Universities and one of the most prominent Academies in the Republics. Tanaka Daiki is the star of the Republic City State Republicans, having his first thirty goal season last year. Kato Tarou, on the other hand, is helping turn around the University of Omashu Badgermoles from a barely-winning season last year --- 8-7 in the regular season --- into a Championship threat. As to the Fire Nation players, Suzuki Juro and Takashi Isamu are nothing spectacular; both players had mediocre seasons in the respective high schools, with Takashi helping Minato Community Secondary make it into the Kyotshi Prefecture State Championship series, making it all the way to the semi-finals before losing. Suzuki Juro, on the other hand, managed to end his Junior season with a high ankle strain which he is still recovering from.

Defensive Midfielders:

7- MAKI Li
Height: 178cm - Weight: 76kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: Ba Sing Se UNITED
A veteran of the Grand Army of the Republic, Maki was shot with an assault rifle during a border dispute with the Charicific Valley which tore his left shoulder to shreds. Six months of physical therapy resulted in his retirement, however, Maki had a great passion in football; luckily for him, you don't need to use your arms in football. At 23, he was drafted by Ba Sing Se as a defensive midfielder and within the first six months of play, he established himself as a premier player. Being a veteran, he is often found with the other 'military players' on the team, notably Kad'e Tay'haai, Kotyc'e Bralor and Wong Haru. A result of his training, Maki is a very serious player, whose morale is spot-on and dedication to the team is second only to Vhett himself; this leads to him being liked a little less than most players, but since when has football been a popularity contest?

4- Kotyc'e BRALOR
Height: 187cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: Keldabe FC

In Keldabe, Bralor makes for a perfect pair with Tay'haai: While Bralor serves as the connection from the defence to the attack, Tay'haai gives the sniping skills of a well-honed soldier. Quick on his feet and agile in mind, Bralor is just starting on his historic career...

Just as his partner on the midfield defence, Bralor is military veteran. His father is a General within the Grand Army of the Republic and Bralor is currently on Sportsmanship Leave from his own military life as a Sergeant, First Class in the GAR. Having the rigors of combat beaten into him since the beginning of his adult life, Bralor knows full well the pay-off for hard work, well-refined skills and dedication.

17- TRAN Bảo
Height: 177cm - Weight: 80kg – Age: 27 years old - Team: FC Mando
A player like Tran is one you would hardly notice. He rarely makes a goal, never drives it to the net and doesn't play a very show-boating game. Instead, he is a hard-working midfielder, who focuses his time on setting up the offence for a great pass, a well-positioned switch or the decisive tackle to change the momentum in the game. Ranked as the second-best player on FC Mando, Tran has worked hard to get to the National Team, so expect to see him alternate to relieve Bralor or Maki in the late games.

Neutral Midfielders:

18- TSUKINO Hachiro
Height: 183cm - Weight: 84kg – Age: 23 years old - Team: Sparta FC (CDP)
Extremely technical for a player his age, Tsukino is definitely an up-and-coming player within the Avatarian league system.

Selected by Sparta FC, a Série A football club in Cotdelapoms, after a terrific performance in World Cup 57, Tsukino has continued to flourish there. He received his Bachelors of Science in Biomolecular Engineering with a Minor in Physics from Accord, a premier Science and Arts University in Albionpool, Cotdelapoms just after the completion of the Cup of Harmony, so his future in Cotdelapoms is uncertain. With teams from home and Erathore competing for the talented midfielder, he could go anywhere in the future.

Attacking Midfielders:

8- Pre KRYSE
Height: 183cm - Weight: 85kg – Age: 31 years old - Team: FC Mildred (EAT)
The Golden Star of Gyatso-kaian football, Kryse has shocked the nation twice in his career. First, predicted to reach the National Level at 21, Kryse came onto the pitch at 19 wearing the national kit; this was such a feat that a new set of laws were passed to allow players younger than 21 to play with the Bisons as opposed to just travelling. Second, after World Cup 58, Kryse was sought out by FC Mildred, a Seria-A team in the Kingdom of Erathore. He quickly signed a contract with the team, despite suffering a concussion in Group Stage Play.

His footballing style is very offensive, working as the last link between the midfield and the offence; Kryse has been known to even advance from the midfield to score some key goals in pivotal games. He has a powerful long shot and is exceptional at heading, both of which are aided by his height. However, as skilled as he is in offense, Kryse still prefers to pass the ball up to forwards for an assist in a goal as opposed to being the star player.

11- NGO Quyen
Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: RC United
A very creative midfielder, Ngo is not known for his consistency: One day, Ngo may get a couple assists and even a goal while keeping the opponent at bay, when on others, he could barely get a foot on the ball; many in the league attribute this to Ngo's service in the Republic Marines and as such, he has been seeing psychiatrists for these issues. A bit of a clown, on those days he is well-inspired, Ngo will often perform many an antic when a goal is scored, thus earning him the love of the fans. On those days less-inspired, Ngo will hardly shuffle through the pitch, tending to gaze at his feet instead of ahead...

Height: 185cm - Weight: 81kg – Age: 25 years old - Team: Northern AFC
Relatively young when compared to his teammates, Himura has not had a promising start to his career, both at home and abroad. Given his still-developing skills in midfield, his is seen as a comparatively weak player and often spends more time with the coaching staff than other more-seasoned players. In his third season out of college with the Northern AFC, Himura is a technical player by nature whose greatest asset is not in his aim or power, but in the art of dribbling which he uses at every opportunity. While more prone to provide assists on plays as opposed to goals, Himura caught Vhett off-guard when he was brought on the pitch to replace an injured Pre Kryse, and managed to score his first goal of his career.

NM SAITO Tsuka 16 Saipan State Academy (Saipan) Fire
OM ITO Anernerk 18 Univeristy of Kibago Water
OM PAK Diku 17 Gaojing Community Secondary School Earth

Mostly comprised of Water Tribesmen, the Midfield Travelling Corps is a grabbag of talent. From the University of the Northern Tribes come home-grown Inoue Kuruk, who at just nineteen has completed two double-digit scoring seasons in collegiate play; impressive for a man who is supposed to be on the defensive midfield. From UST comes Kimura Kaskae, who while having yet to score a goal since his first year of high school, has continued to provide multiple assists game in and game out. The youngest travelling player, Saito Tsuka comes all the way from Saipan State Academy, and as the lone Fire in the MTC, he does find himself more lonely than the others. In just three secondary seasons, Saito has never allowed more than a single goal while on the pitch per game. On the offensive side of the pitch, Ito Anernerk and Pak Diku both are young, and only Ito is in college, but the two play a very similar game. In fact, Vhett compares the two to a younger pair of Bralor and Kryse...

9- WAKAHISA Hikaru
Height: 189cm - Weight: 86kg – Age: 29 years old - Team: FC Beijing
A great player who is the star of FC Beijing, Wakahisa is a world of contradiction. While he gets along swimmingly with his teammates and has the technical form of a football-playing robot, his morale leaves something to desire; a defeatist by nature, whenever the going gets a little too tough, Wakahisa will start to crack. It is this attitude which sees Wakahisa often removed from the pitch and replaced by the younger A’den Skirata.

Given his size, he makes for an impressive target for midfielders; coupled with his physical strength and accuracy, there is very little the defence can do should Wakahisa break through. Many a times a defender has gone for a tackle, only to have the 86-kilo Wakahisa just steam roll him. Known for his aerial skills as well as his ground work, a goal from Wakahisa is just as easily to come from the sky as it is to come from the ground.

Tay’haai comes from a sports-centric family; with his father a coach in the AHL, his brother a member of the National Ice Bisons and his mother the coach of the women’s national football team, fans and critics have come to expect nothing but greatness from Tay’haai. Certainly they have not been mislead, with Tay’haai has become known as ‘The Next One’ following the retirement of VId’a Ambeck eight years ago. When on the pitch, he plays almost effortlessly, dodging defenders as if they were standing still, sniping balls past nets which might as well have been empty and being the media’s favourite player.

He strives for perfection in every session and he knows too well the wrath of Vhett when he does not perform well. In his personal life, he is a staunch supporter of the military, given his family’s history with the GAR; his grandfather was one of the first training sergeants of the GAR’s clone-based military nearly 80 years ago and ever since, Tay’haai donates portions of his salary to charities which support the GAR. During an impressive appearance at the BoF, Tay'haai was able to score an astonishing nine goals; even earning his first international hat trick in the game against Greater Coventry. In the ensuing world cup, Tay’haai earned eleven goals, followed by seven more in the Fifth Market Cup, then ten more in the next World Cup. It seems as if nothing can stop the Next One...

Still able to be molded, Vhett continues to prepare Skirata for the RPFL and his future therein. With the speed and strength of youth on his side, Skirata compliments Tay’haai very well... So well in fact, there have been talks of pushing Wakahisa to the alternate corps...

While he has completed his degree at KSU, Skirata has chosen to play another season with the Strills rather than enter the RPFL draft. While Vhett is dying to sign him to FC Mando, there are several other teams dreaming of the day they can add the amazing Skirata to their roster.

Known as one of the fastest players in the league, Ngyuen is an impressive striker who only has one issue; accuracy. Known as a ‘loose cannon’ throughout the league, his impressive speed combined with his unparalleled power often erupts and launches the balls over the net, to the far right or far left of the net and even into the stands only to injure small children. A man who played for a couple of years in the top club in its day, Vhett has the experience to understand his players, read the field as if he were on it and adapt quickly. Vhett first coached for FC Mando --- his former team ---, in which he saw the reformation of the team into a competitive threat before a sudden transfer to Keldabe FC, where he has been the manager for the last seven seasons; bringing with him three Premier Cups to the National Stage, the Bisons have qualified twice for the World Cup Proper, and hope to push even further this tournament.

With Liu An Qiang having taken the job as Head Coach of the Gyatso-kaian Under-Twenty team, the position of Assistant Coach was given to Leifong Saikhan. A man who has been involved with Avatarian football since his years as a collegiate player, Leifong entered into the coaching sphere following the sudden death of University of Omashu Head Coach Ko Podain in 2000.1 from a heart attack. Despite winning the DiMong Plate as well as several awards during a record career as a striker, Leifong continued to win as both the Assistant Coach of the Badgermoles, and the Head Coach in 2001.3, where he remained until 2006.1 when Vhett offered him the position of Forwards Coach.

Since then, Leifong has continued to develop as a coach, including winning the Omashu FC contest for Manager in 2009.4 and even entering into the contest to win the Head Coach position of the Turori National Team, eventually losing due to a poor team performance in the first half of WC 60 Qualifying.

As the Offensive Assistant during World Cup 61, Leifong helped transform the team’s attacking abilities, earning at least two goals per match, and earning eleven shutouts during both Qualifying and the Round of Sixteen. As Assistant Coach, the sky is simply the limit for Leifong

Manager - Gunutz Yaregi
63 year-old Gunutz Yaregi was the grand architect of Echegoyan FC's meteoric rise from the second tier to First Division champions; a wily old fox with a winning personality, he'll do anything to secure the three points. He has made radical changes to Powell Pieran's Astograth, and his preferred 4-2-3-1 has proven controversial among both the fans and the players, with the usage of only one striker being heavily criticised when there are many who could take up that space. So, instead of taking one reserve player per position, as is customary, Yaregi has left out a centre-back and a DM to pick a whopping four forwards, figuring the rest can sort of swap around while the others fight tooth-and-nail for a place up front. Whether the distribution is more effective or not is up for discussion, but what isn't is the results - Astograth did not just advance from the group stage for the first time at World Cup 61, but reached the semifinals and lost to the eventual champions Valanora, earning a historic fourth place. Many retired from international football then and there, and now Yaregi's task is to see what he can do with a team that looks forwards more than backwards. He'll certainly aim high, considering Astograth's unprecedented 9th rank and the home crowd behind them...

Starting XI:

#1 - GK - Aztore Irungarai - Age 33 - Image Ousevale Borough – 24 caps, 28 goals against, 5 clean sheets
Zernin Aira and Cheru Larretape cast their shadow over Astograthian goalkeeping for over a decade, shutting the doors of the national team to a number of perpetually frustrated players that could never break the duopoly. Of these, Aztore Irungarai is perhaps the best and the last, achieving fame first with Sporting Iturributa and then with Krytenian giants Ousevale Borough. He is second to none at saving penalty kicks, but due to simple bad luck this will be his first and final time to wear the #1 shirt for Astograth at a World Cup.

#5 - LB - Urtzi Galard (C) - Age 31 - Royal Rumiatzi – 108 caps, 4 goals
The tenth most-capped Astograthian player, Galard is a veteran of Olibondeka's four successful World Cup qualifying runs and their sole Cup of Harmony win; he doesn't show signs of slowing down, his quick, offensive runs down the wing still a constant threat. Tireless for the full ninety and an expert crosser, he can seamlessly swap positions with the left winger, and can indeed be used in that position if required. Has been handed the captain's armband after the international retirement of Cheru Larretape, due to being by far the most experienced and respected member of the squad.

#4 - CB - Yokin Arizmande - Age 23 – Urbizania Wanderers - 36 caps, 2 goals
A product of the Royal Vosaroni Antenelli youth academy, Arizmande moved to Erathore at an early age and was first-team for several years at Niccostrato, in keeping with the Erathi custom of teenaged players. Having returned to his homeland, he has solidified himself as one of the leading centre-backs in the First Division and the national team, though taking over from Raynor City United's Ubelteso Adin will be no easy task.

#3 - CB – Abdoulaye Bocandé - Age 28 – Image East Franz Athletic – 75 caps, 5 goals
Although fully Zenegalese, Bocandé has been naturalised by Astograth after his standout performances in the First Division, originally joining from the Tamarindo league. A crucial part of Echegoyan FC's rise to the top and eventual championship run, he is a blood-and-guts defender with no fear of crunching tackles or studs to the face. His drive to excel sets him apart, and despite playing for his adopted nation still enjoys humongous popularity in his homeland of Zenega.

#17 - RB - Raitin Eneriz - Age 25 - Echegoyan FC - 12 caps, 1 goal
A fast and versatile right-back, Ituraitz Victory can blame Eneriz for single-handedly keeping them around the mid-table and not the relegation zone. Now at league champions Echegoyan FC, he has continued to demonstrate that his defending is top-notch if rash, but he truly shines when taking the ball forward, either dribbling or with the long pass. Not terribly experienced in the national team or in international club football, but that will come in time and Yaregi has full faith in him.

#15 - DM – Ikatz Alberro - Age 27 - Ituraitz FC – 48 caps, 6 goals
Alberro has quickly situated himself as the current best Astograthian player in a position with a long tradition in the nation, with or without the support of partners such as Ituraitz's Lester Sutton or the national team's Galeano. He is adept at finding space in thick midfields, whether to stick a pass in or muscle his way through, and in the proud heritage of Edorta Urrustoy he is no stranger to rough tackles.

#6 - DM – Galeano - Age 28 - Royal Rumiatzi – 36 caps, 1 goal
Galeano joins Abdoulaye Bocandé as the other naturalised player of the squad; the Tamarindian-born midfielder laboured long and hard at The Army Club before earning a call-up to Copa Rushmori IX and a transfer to cross-town giants Royal Rumiatzi. His small frame can be a problem when confronted with more physical opponents, but he has the vision to wreak havoc if Alberro gives him the space he needs. The partnership proved fruitful throughout World Cup 61, though Galeano is often the first to go when Yaregi decides to alter the formation.

#7 - LM – Lekubegi Guerrikaechebarria - Age 27 – Astograth University – 45 caps, 9 goals
Guerrikaechebarria burst onto the domestic scene with blinding performances at Athletic Club Yungoitio, and has since led Astograth University to their first title and broken into Olibondeka's starting eleven. He is fast and lively, an important threat down the left wing and increasingly versatile. His eagerness can sometimes be a bit excessive, not thinking things through and dipping in form when setbacks arise, but he is arguably Astograth's most exciting player at this time.

#8 - AM - Aintza Lekea - Age 28 - Image Jan Mayen Islanders – 55 caps, 10 goals
Signed at a remarkably young age by the renowned FC Mildrid of Erathore and then transferred to the equally massive Juvillian Martinax, where he quickly became one of the top-rated players in the Seria-A; after that collapsed, he's found his place in the northern Jan Mayen. Selfish with the ball and a shameless diver, but his tricks and free kicks are brilliant. Though his attitude is rejected by the fans, Yaregi has a strong liking for Lekea and has handed him the revered #8 shirt worn by the Astograthian playmaker, taking over from Otz Lasuen.

#14 - RM - Iban Bachiondo - Age 28 - Echegoyan FC – 22 caps, 4 goals
Bachiondo's had a rough relationship with Yaregi, but it can't be denied the man loves himself some Echegoyan FC, even being named captain by Yaregi despite their frequent rows on the pitch. The reason being Bachiondo doesn't like to follow orders or rely on his teammates, his individualism putting strain on the team as often as it pays off majestically. Bad attitude, great footballer; he'd make an excellent duo with Lekea if either of them were into that sort of thing. The shadow of Itzeder Unzueta hangs high above his head, but Bachiondo isn't lacking in confidence to sweep it away.

#9 - CF - Hurko Atristain - Age 30 - Image SK Franz Josef City – 57 caps, 33 goals
It feels very strange to see someone other than Soter Sarlange wearing the #9 shirt, but it's finally happened. Big target man Atristain has responded everywhere he's played and racked up an impressive goal count that has him third in the rankings with a better ratio than either Sarlange or Ormache. The comparisons with the latter are certainly inevitable, considering he is now one of SK Franz Josef City's leading forwards.

Substitutes:

#13 - GK - Argider Gorriaran - Age 28 - Astograth University – Uncapped
Not a household name by any means, but Gorriaran has earned himself a reputation within the domestic league for his clean sheets with both Blue Mountain Range and Astograth University, which aren't entirely due to either team's talented defense. Widely expected to take over from Irungarai after the World Cup, but his lack of international experience is worrying to many.

#23 - GK – Machin Logegaray - Age 24 - Ituraitz FC – 1 cap, 1 clean sheet
The city of Ituraitz is very proud of its goalkeepers, and one of their brightest at the moment is Ituraitz FC's starting keeper Machin Logegaray, who has shown maturity beyond his years since replacing local icon Astigar Barrueta and can comfortably stay in the team for many seasons to come. Played a single match for Astograth at the 3rd Brevity Cup,being chosen for the World Cup squad ahead of foreign-based Loren Arambel and Gaxan Echabeguren.

#12 - LB - Burni Beyaitz - Age 28 - Astograth University - 2 caps
A once highly unlikely call-up, Beyaitz has earned his place on the squad after University's title-winning campaign ended in a record amount of goals conceded, their defense possibly the best the Astograthian game has ever seen. Proud and ferocious, Beyaitz is expected to bring his excellent club form to the international level.

#2 - CB – Edorta Garro - Age 26 – Ituraitz FC - 3 caps
Garro's call-up has been a long time coming, ever since he revealed himself as the leading man in Ituraitz FC's young, revamped, title-challenging and later title-winning defense. With Ubelteso Adin's absence, he can now move into Olibondeka and stake a claim for a starting spot much like Ituraitzi legend Milian Erburu.

#19 - RB - Hitzeder Kareaga - Age 30 - Urbizania Wanderers - 1 cap
Fairly fast and good at passing, but Kareaga has a nasty tendency to lose concentration at the most unfortunate times. Still a solid right-back who performs very well for current world champions Urbizania Wanderers, but Astograth is sorely lacking in right-backs with national team experience.

#16 - DM – Burutzagi Bidaiyat - Age 21 - Image Edmonton United – 20 caps, 1 goal
Bred at Erathore's Niccostrato, Bidaiyat is a technical-minded midfielder, preferring to dribble and, above all else, pass the ball around like a mindless drone until the opponent makes a grave mistake. He isn't one for getting stuck in the challenge, though being young as he is he might yet adopt the rougher customs of Ikatz Alberro or - God forbid - the crunching tackles of retired Astograthian legend Edorta Urrustoy.

#20 - LM – Anixi Eturaspe - Age 28 – Ituraitz FC – 17 caps, 1 goal
More of a central-minded playmaker than the almost inside-forward role Yaregi expects him to play, but Eturaspe is nothing if not confident. A key player at Yaregi's own Echegoyan FC and then Royal Rumiatzi, he is good at creating chances from in and outside the box, though finishing them himself is an entirely different story.

#10 - AM - Eriz Bakaikoa - Age 24 - Image FC Axel Heiburg – 3 caps
Brought up at the prestigious Haapa-Mechelin academy in Polar Islandstates, Bakaikoa is followed by the Astograthian public at a distance since his signing for the academy's parent club. His performances for the youth national team have earned him attention and expectation; given a chance by Yaregi and no less than the #10 shirt there's no telling what he might do in the commanding position of team playmaker.

#22 - RM – Yaizki Alaberri - Age 27 - Urbizania Wanderers - 2 caps
The captain of Urbizania Wanderers is spritely and accurate, not unlike Bachiondo, but has the measure and calm to think things through both on and off the pitch - unlike Bachiondo. From a technical perspective, not too different to the other right winger in the squad, but the different personalities offer Yaregi two very distinct possibilities in his approach. As skipper of Wanderers, Alaberri became the first Astograthian to lift the prestigious UICA Champions' Cup, granting them the title of club world champions.

#11 - CF - Formerio Iturralde - Age 28 - Image Casuals Osteria – 36 caps, 1 goal
Dismissed by Iturributa United for his attitude and promptly snapped up by top Krytenian club Casuals Osteria, Iturralde is a self-centered goal machine not unlike a younger Soter Sarlange or the eternal Polarian forward Timo Skye. Missed call-ups after not impressing at the Copa Rushmori and Brevity Challenge Cup then ditched the option of playing for Iturributa when he noticed Astograth would probably get him more exposure. Finally obtained his first goal in a terrific display against Queer Poco el Mono Ara at the World Cup, but the question of whether more will follow remains.

#21 - CF - Ikatz Ansotegi - Age 31 - Urbizania Wanderers - 76 caps, 22 goals
Speed, height and brute force make Ansotegi an effective forward, and having returned to Astograth with Wanderers after a disappointing spell in Cafundéu he was a key part of Edorta Urrustoy's Champion's Cup-winning side. Built like a rugby forward and nicknamed 'The Locomotive' because he barges through the defense till he scores, he's the only man to score five in one game for Olibondeka and can be trusted to stomp all over the defense. His form has fluctuated and he has slumped behind Atristain in the 'big man' preference list, but remains a strong goal threat.

#18 - CF - Itzaina Erreka - Age 32 - Image Teva FC – 31 caps, 9 goals
It can't be denied Erreka has had an eventful career, coming through at Royal Rumiatzi, earning every award under the sun with South Factory, scoring for the national team and then steadily declining at Iturributa United before enjoying a revival in the distant Gordonopia. Teva FC have made him a star in a league that remains largely unknown in Astograth but is one of the most exciting up-and-coming tournaments in the UICA. Yaregi responded by giving him a call-up to the Copa Rushmori, and Erreka confirmed his triumphant comeback with the equaliser over North Blue Island.

Captain: Urtzi Galard
Free Kick Taker: Aintza Lekea
Penalty Taker: Hurko Atristain
Right Corner: Lekubegi Guerrikaechebarria
Left Corner: Aintza Lekea

All of Astograth's home matches will be played at the 90,000-seater Grand Duke's Stadium in the capital city of Rumiatzi. National team games, the domestic cup final and a few extraordinary events are the only football matches ever hosted at Grand Duke's, so expect the atmosphere to be intense on and off the pitch.

YES to all RP permissions, barring any career-ending incidents. Should you have any questions about anything, please do TG me.
