Oakley stellar again,
by: Meghan Potter

The home crowd in the Northern Sunrise Islands was ready to watch an upset. The Stars seemed to be a little antsy though, over this game. While the team has a reputation for being very well-disciplined overall, and rarely sees penalties called against them, it appeared as though they were expecting to play a Cassadaigua team that would want to initiate physical play. This was noticeable to coach Courtney Rangen who told us, "Chase (Willis) skated back to the bench after his first shift and told me they (the Stars) seemed as though they were expecting us to bang them around. I don't really know where they got that scouting report, because that's not Cassadagan hockey." Rangen smiled as she said that and seemed to use that to her advantage in the first period. Rangen continued, "When the perceived underdog is at home and in front of a great crowd like this, there is pressure on them to score early. So when you factor that into us not playing as to how their apparent scouting report said, they're going to make mistakes." Indeed they did. Just nine minutes into the first period, the incredibly skilled Matthew Sioux tried to be a little too cute with a behind the back pass, hoping to have winger Tyson Sharp positioned beautifully in the slot for a one-timer on Oakley. However, Sioux did not pick up the read that Samantha Preston had on the play, and Sammi picked off the pass, and instead of the Stars Captain having a great chance, Preston immediately passed to the Dagan Captain, Meghan Stafford, who had a breakaway. Stafford knew what to do with the puck, and deposited the puck over Louis Ouelette's glove, and just underneath the crossbar for a 1-0 Cassadaigua lead.

The crowd got quiet. Just how the favorite would want it.

However, to their credit, Northern Sunrise Islands valiantly tried to get the equalizer for the rest of the game, but they soon discovered why Kaitlyn Oakley is one of the best goalies in the entire world, stopping 39 total shots by the Stars. The frustration on the Northern Sunrise Islands players became very apparent when they had a 3-on-1 breakaway early in the second, and did every thing right, only to be completely robbed by Oakley. On the other end of the rink, Ouelette looked good as well, stopping 33 Cassadaigua shots, but needed to stop 34. For those wanting to see rough play, there was disappointment. Only one penalty, a holding the stick penalty on Michael Macchio early in the second, was called.

The Daily Sheep

Birolika	0 1 0	1
Western Cuba 0 0 1 1

Birolika manage a suprise draw

Birolika returned back home off the back of a decent draw against Audioslavia to play the second best team in the group, Western Cuba. The stadium was packed out and this time it actually Birolikans who took 12,000 seats to watch their team in their own pacifistic way. Birolika went into the game in 5th place, however coach Blaker has made it clear that really their aim is third place (or at least fourth), and were on 3 points. They were level on points with Audioslavia and also only one point behind Western Cuba.

The game started in an average way, which for Birolika is actually fantastic. The first chance of the game came in the 6th minute when Paul Kirby took a shot in a scramble around the goal, however it ended in nothing. Another chance came just a minute later when Pete Harkin came close from a rocket pass from Luke Martins. Eventually the period ended very level with Western Cuba also taking a few chances, Kirby had an especially good first period making numerous chances and also having three decent attempts on goal.

The second period was the peak of the game for Birolika, which it always seems to be. It started off with a series of good chances from the second line, however it was going nowhere and a big line-change took place. While it was the first line of forwards coming on, it was left defender Pilchard who took the goal. He received a pass from Ian Chalk up from defence and managed to bullet it past the West Cuban keeper. The second period ended with Birolika ahead, however despite dominance they didn't press the lead home. Nonetheless Birolika's fans were happy enough, although not exactly signing.

The final period was where it fell to pieces; the Birolik side proved they just didn't have the physical capabilities to make it all the way through the game. At the start they were still on a high from the second, but after five minutes fatigue began to wear through. Eventually Western Cuba were completely in control, but the defence held out until the 16th minute of the third when they finally conceded the goal that made the game a draw. Coach Balker said that they "either need to score more goals in their peak, or hold out better at the end for the desired results."

Next time we travel to Falconfar for the first of the second set of fixtures. Last time we managed a decent 4-2 victory over them, our only victory in the tournament so far, and the Birolik coaching staff are hoping to repeat the result. "A trip to Falconfar should be fun, they're a poetic people and we all know the best poetry comes from sadness. Hopefully we can give them a helping hand with that."

The team was frustrated. No one wanted to say anything about the match, though some like Sioux were more frustrated due to their participation in the sole goal of the match. Their coach was missing, however.
"Okay, you know what? Let's start speaking with each other. We lost to a big team, okay? This wasn't even that much of a rampage beating. We lost to CASSADAIGUA, not a small team made of toddlers." said O'Shea, angry. "And where is that coach when we need him? Smoking cigarettes?"
"He is in the hospital." said Mortiise, calm. "Had a small problem in his lungs, so they sent him to St. Mary Hospital, to see if they could put him back in place."
OOC: St. Mary Hospital is one of the most important hospitals of Northern Sunrise Islands. Created by a priest in the late 80s, the Hospital is reference in pulmonar cancer. Just to orientate whoever reads this a little.
"Hospital?" asked Sioux, worried.
"Oh, quiet you. If it wasn't by yourself, I'm pretty sure we'd be drawing with Cassadaigua and getting another point." yelled O'Shea.
A young brunette went through the door of the locker room, looking at them.
"Yes, and if it wasn't by him, we wouldn't have won most matches. He is our top scorer, might as well excuse him for this one." Said the brunette, sitting in one of the benches.
"And you are?" said O'Shea, still very angry. "Some random fan? Piss off."
"Actually, I'm Jean, your coach's daughter." said her, laughing. "He isn't going to be 100% till the end of the qualifiers, so they sent me to substitute him."
"Eh, great... What do they think this is? A Slap Shot movie?"
"Chill out, man. She's the coach of the Stilwater Sharks." said Defender Levesque, cleaning his hockey stick. "And as you may remember, we were the champions of the League."
"Indeed, sir." said the brunette, calm. "Now, I know how you guys are feeling, but don't forget, this tournament is far from over. We almost tied with the number 7 of the World Ranking and now that we have a bye day, I want to have a small training session with you guys. Let's see what we can do to the match against Falconwhereveryouare. We already beat them before, so I think that if we keep some of the things we used back then, we could totally beat them again. Let's go, Stars."

At the hotel, O'Shea was thinking before sleeping.
"Well, to be honest, we do play in blue and yellow.

Not really an upset, but still a loss: NSI loses third match in a row against giants.
Once gain, the Stars weren't able to beat their opponents at the Qualifiers, as the Stars lose to Cassadaigua for one goal only. Dissapointingly, but still a good mark, as the Stars managed to hold back one of the biggest teams of the World. The sole goal of the match came from the stick of Meghan Stafford. As of the rest of the match, both teams had two things stoping them, Louis Oulette and Kaithlyn Oakley.

THE FLIGHT PATTERN- Byfugland's Official Source of Jets Sports

The Byfugland Jets earned another hard-fought victory over The Gypsies, coming away with a 3-1 victory. Once again the Jets showed their offensive prowess, outshooting the Gypsies and seemingly perpetually in their zone. In the end, the Gypsies poor defense and lack of offensive chances proved costly.

There were no goals scored in the first period, but right out of the gate, the Jets established themselves as the dominant offensive force. Byfugland had 15 shots to the Gypsies' 6. Ryan Linderhagen and David Kidd got tangled up in the corner after the whistle, and seconds later, the gloves were dropped. Linderhagen, who stands at a towering 6'7", took several good punches from Kidd before he finally threw Kidd to the ice. Only minutes later, Cliff Soricelli, Byfugland's resident thug, grabbed opposing winger Mick Price in a skirmish. Soricelli landed several huge blows, besting Price. By the end of the first period, both the score and the fight record was tied.

In the second period, Jarret Backman was called for boarding a minute in, but on the penalty kill, Fyodor Makarov fed Daniel Shelby who buried a wrist shot from the slot to put the Jets on top 1-0. A few minutes later, Alexandros Ivanov blasted home a slapshot from the point to put Byfugland on top by two.

Midway through the third period, Phoenix Holden proved why he's one of the most stellar players to come out of Byfugland, shredding the Gypsies' defense and taking the puck coast to coast for Byfugland's third goal on the night. Up to that point, Byfugland goalie Ryan Underhill had stopped all 29 shots faced, until late in the third period, captain Janet Kirby broke the shutout, scoring the final goal on the night. The game ended 3-1, with fights 2-1 in Byfugland's favor (Crusher McPersoncrusher beat David Kidd in the third period).

"It was an emotional battle," coach Hank Boudreau, "but in the end I'm glad we were able to control the game the way we did."

Port Hawthorne wins 2-1 over Licentiapacisterra
TIMOTHY GURGANU

Port Hawthorne has picked up it's fourth point in the win column. They're tied third with Havl for goals for. Port Hawthorne has been doing relatively well for being ranked 72 overall. They tied against seventh in the world Cassadaigua. Port Hawthorne would open up scoring against the Licentiapacisterra club with the Liam Hewitt goal assisted by linemate Franc Balažic in the first period.

The game would remain 1-0 into the third period. Port Hawthorne would score their second goal of the game, fourth liner Chuck Franklin would put it back into the net. Licentiapacisterra would quickly place their sole goal into the net with a minute left.

Port Hawthorne plays against Cassadaigua again next.

Back in it!

MOSCAWA- Soviet Canuckistan beat Havl today at home in a 4-3 nail bitter to climb to third in Group 10 of WCOH 19. The first period started quickly with the Canuckistanis opening up the scoring only 55 seconds in with a beautiful wristshot from Mistrenko that sailed through the fivehole. Havl took a while to respond and got on the board at 9:55 left with a one-timer goal by Allender. However, the Canuckistanis kept up the pressure and scored at 9:17 left with a point goal from Langdon to leave the first period with a score of 2-1, Canuckistanis leading. The second period began slow however Havl got the action going halfway through at 10:10 left with a quick shot to the top shelf by Donndelinger, tying up the game till the beginning of the third. The Canuckistanis got their lead back in the third with a goal from Smith to make it 3-2 with 18:05 to go. Havl tied it up with 5:02 to go with a goal by Pfenning, disappointing many of the Canuckistanis crowds. Then as the crowd counted down, 5....4....3..., the red light lit up for another Canuckistani goal, securing them the game off a one timer from Dubruch to Kampf. As the buzzer sounded, the crowd sung "Through Hardship to Victory", the Canuckistani anthem as the Havl team walked off the ice and back home.

We interviewed Center Vyecheslav Mistrenko, the man who scored two goals and he had this to say, "It was a good game and a good way to finish off the first leg off the group stage, hopefully we can do even better in the second half and continue our winning at home. We have good fans and they support us well, so all you fans out there, thanks." The game tomorrow is at home in Moscawa and will be broadcast thoughout the nation and online on our website.

A gentle snow descended upon the mountains of Sorochuk. A new layer of the fluffy, white stuff covered the city. The lights from the city of 240,000 made the snow crystals glint like diamonds, pleasing the eye of passersby. However, Tomas Alexander was not that type of passerby. He moved along the icy sidewalks with purpose as the snowflakes gently brushed his face. He had a team to lead. A captaincy to maintain. The lights of the Sorochuk IcePlex were up ahead. A breeze pulled away his black coat, so he pulled it shut and tightened up his scarf.

Warmth spread across his body as he opened up the players' entrance door and walked down the tunnel. Rolf Moravec had beat him to the arena. "How's it going, Rolf?" the Golden Eagles' captain said in passing. As Tomas entered the locker room, he saw Santeri Vrubel seated on a bench in front of group standings. The captain seated himself next to the third line winger.

"Two points out," muttered Vrubel, "We get these Mantwenic guys by 3 and we take 2nd."

"Keep your hopes up, Santeri," was Tomas' reply, "It'll do you good." His comment was sealed with a slap on the back.

The captain changed into his uniform and hit the ice. The fourth line consisting of Hermansen, Stroman, and Fyodorov along with the rest of line three, that being Boehler and Avramenko, were taking shots at Craig Howard. He was like a wall. Zoned in every time one oof those little black disks came whizzing at him. Tomas skated over and called for a huddle. A few more of the other players doing some skating joined in.

"I know those first two games were rough, but we dialed in for the next three. 2-1-0. Pretty good if you ask," the captain started, "Don't touch that dial. I like it the way it is. We'll be hosting the 24th ranked team in the world. If we can get that red light to turn on three times, we're golden. This could be the defining game of our tournament run. Now is the time to band together and get the job done. On three."

They personalize their blog by choosing their own "Beat", or topics which they blog about, they also can post a description, profile picture, or associate themselves with a certain poitical bias.

A User also gains statisticss, which are displayed on the user's page, and on leadboarders found on the homepage. The statistics recorded on Blogbook are refered to as "Citations" which is when another user like a particular user's article. This is also know as a "like" on more traditional social networking sites. "Commendations" are also counted, and are basically when one user verify's the merit and worth of another. "Subscriptions" are tallied when a user creates either a personal or email feed of another user's posts. Users can also comment and leave public messages for other users.

Users also get a feel for many traditional social networking aspects. Each user can post "announcements", or a short public message which is important, but not important enough to create an article. Users also can engage in private chat, as well as online forums and open chatrooms. Blogbook is also evolvoing into a more traditional social networking site in the sense that more and more users are more concerned with using the site to tell about their personal life, rather than be a "journalist" and blog about issues and events that affect the world at large.

Alexandre St-Laurier punched the prisoner while all the Team Sicoutimont members fought the other prisoners. (OOC: In Sicoutimont, prisons are nothing short of military bunkers, so if you escape, you are a hero in our nation) The brawl continued as Seamus Sinclair, JP Dandenault and Jean-Luc Desjardins pushed out of the cell. They sprinted past a guard, and ran out the door. Now they faced turrets, attack helicopters, and many more wonderful things. But suddenly, as the first bullets hit pavement ahead of them, somebody in the jail realized that these guys where members of Team Sicoutimont. You see, hockey is a religion in some parts of Sicoutimont, and this facility, 25km from Lac-Bouchard on the north coast of Lac Drouin, was in that part of the country. Not realizing the prisoner was part of the group, they waved them out. They got onto the bus, and waited for their comrades.

Seeing Sinclair had escaped, St-Laurier knocked out the biggest prisoner. The team ran back, checked out of visiting, and got onto the bus quickly. The driver sped away to Lac-Drouin, the site of Sicoutimont's game that night against Nopspi. Now, the jail recognized what had happened, and dropped all charges on Sinclair, for how could they charge a man who broke from the most defended jail in the nation? The team got to the city, and checked into Hotel Boulevard, right on Rue Parliamente's intersection with boulevard du Lac. Now, too the game. Etienne Goubert got the start. The first period was uneventful, with 2 powerplay opportunities going non-converted by the Power Play of Sicoutimont. Finally, in the second period, Loic Lenouvre broke through, scoring an even-strength goal at 7:25 of the 2nd period. Now, the team knew how to beat Nopspi, doing it before, and did it again. Etienne Goubert swated aside 28 shots for a shutout, while Nopspi's goaltender played almost as well, stopping 35 of 36 shots. A celebration was after the game, as Sicoutimont moved into 3rd place in the group with 4 matches to go. Next up, Sicoutimont takes on Weatherdon in Riviere-St-Denis, where the team will look to pull into a qualifing spot in World Cup of Hockey XIX.

Matchday 1: Polar Islandstates 1-1 Svengarda

Svengarda's first ever international ice hockey after just three months of training, ended in a spectacular draw with the worlds 4th ranked nation, Polar Islandstates. Polar Islandstates managed to take the lead just before half, despite valiant efforts from keeper-captain Seppi Steffansson. The Ice Hawks went in 1-0 down but were still positive and were very swift coming out for the second half. After several near misses, the Ice Hawks finally managed to net a goal, with a swift counter-attacking move from ending with Friðrik Partanen netting under Polar Islandstates keeper to equalise. Polar Islandstates came back at them many times, but brave defence from Steffansson, Vilhjalmsson & Ingolfsson kept them out and held them to a brilliant 1-1 draw away from home. Good omens perhaps?

Matchday 2: Yuznetovian Julia 2-0 Svengarda

A much weaker away performance from the Ice Hawks saw them lose the game in the opening four minutes. A lack of communication between the keeper and defence basically let Yuznetovian Julia just walk in and slide the puck into the net. Twice. But although they did lose 2-0, there were many positive signs. They played with fight and aggression in the second half, and showed that they were capable to big hits and heavy defence, most notably coming from 6ft 6" defender Edvard Vilhjalmsson.

Matchday 3: Svengarda 0-2 Vaugania

Their first home game and again, serious cracks in the team appeared. Blame was thrown about when the first goal was conceded, and things got especially bad when Vilhjalmsson and Ingolfsson had to be separated by the referee after the second goal went in. The team managed to re-group in the second half, playing for pride mostly, they did managed to string together passes and have a few shots at goal. Erik Venäläinen believed he scored in the last minutes, but the puck was judged to have been knocked off the line by a diving keeper.

Matchday 4: Bongo Johnson 0-3 Svengarda

With just one point from three games, the Ice Hawks really needed to turn things around against Bongo Johnson. Things started well with Svengarda dominating the midfield and having several shots in the first 10 minutes. Svengardas first goal in 153 minutes came when Venäläinen was played in by Seppa, and he smashed the luck over the shoulder of the keeper and into the net. The second half started better for Svengarda, with Venäläinen netting a second goal after sprinting up from the Svengarda goal and wrong footing the keeper and the puck slid gently into the net. The third goal came from Partanen after a scrap in the penalty area.

Matchday 5: Svengarda 1-0 Mantenwic

A very back and forth game which saw both keepers tested regularly. Svengarda defence probably had the better over the Mantenwic attack, hitting them hard and checking them regularly. Venäläinen scored the only goal of the game on 43 minutes, taking his tally for the competition to three.

SVG 0 1 1

Matchday 6: Svengarda 1-0 Polar Islandstates

By far their best performance, it was actually a surprise that they only managed to win by just the one goal. Venäläinen continues his goal scoring form by scoring the winner 17 minutes in, smashing a great 9 yard shot past the Polarian keeper. They showed resilience in defence, control in midfield and agility and prowess in attack. Partenen & Venäläinen had finally started to bond up front, whilst Viljhalmsson managed to get along with his defensive partner Jalmari Ingolfsson. They now sat second in the group, albeit jont with Mantenwic & Vaugania, one point behind leaders Polar Islandstates. Yuznetovian Julia at the Helsingborg Icestadii are up next for the Ice hawks, with four game to play.

Maklohi Vai 0–0 Licentiapacisterra

Maklohi Vai's defensive scheme allowed only 16 shots on goal, but as the offense couldn't get it going, the game ended in a 0-0 tie. A few players expressed their dismay after the game about having scored only 1 goal through 6 games. "You can't win if you can't score."

Another Win and a Big Shock

MOSCAWA- Usually we'd be talking about Soviet Canuckistan's game right now but after 15 WCOH round robin games Valanora was defeated 2-1, by an unranked team! The top team in the world was defeated by a bunch of nobodies from a place called Havl. So back to the Canuckistani game, the Canuckistans blewout His Great Kingdom in a 4-0 victory at home yesterday. The Canuckistanis got off to a quick start with a goal from LaTrappe at 19:35 left. The Kingdomites couldn't respond as the red light lit up off a shot from Plamondon-Piquette at 18:01. However, after that the scoring slowed for a while till the beginning of the third where an own goal by the Kingdomites set them back 3-0. To cap the game off, in the last minute, Pollock got one last goal in to keep it at 4-0.

We talked to Assistant Coach John Smith about the game and he said, "It was another excellent game, good offensive pressure all game and good goaltending from Prefontaine as well. They only got in 10 shots so excellent job by the defence as well." The next game is against Ziketonia at home so you can catch the game on the web and on TV. Tickets are still sold out for the rest of the home games so good luck finding any.

Alpha: Glad I decided at the last minute to withdraw from that bet.

Omega: You're just a bit peeved that my idea of cloning is gaining support throughout the QHA.

Alpha: True, but do I have to wear this after the game?

Omega: Well, unless you want to reinstate the full bet...

Alpha: No, no. I wouldn't be able to withstand runing through the offices naked.

Omega: And there's the final horn.

Alpha: Audioslavia's plays us tough twice in a row, Just a bit of luck, and they could've beaten us twice.

Omega: Too be honest, in the first round of the playoffs, they're the one team I don't to see across from us.

Alpha: It would be our 3rd time playing them, and usually that's enough for a team to win.

Omega: Sometimes it does. But now you gotta head down to the ice...

THE FLIGHT PATTERN- Byfugland's Official Source of Jets Sports

Byfugland came away from last night's game frustrated, as they wound up tying a scrappy Thisbia team 1-1. Thisbia has tied four times now, and it's becoming apparent they can play with anyone. With every point crucial to survival in a tight group, the Jets were apparently annoyed they could only draw.

The game was fairly evenly matched all through the first period, each team exchanging scoring chances and finishing their checks. The first period was highlighted by a brilliant stick save by Ryan Underhill, wherein a cross-crease pass led to a wide open shot, but Underhill reached behind him with the stick and turned it away, keeping the game scoreless.

It took until late in the second period for there to be any scoring. Thisbian center Conor Shanahan buried a wrist shot from the near circle over the glove of Underhill to give them a 1-0 lead. Up until that point, Underhill had stopped all 28 of the shots that came his way.

After Ryan Linderhagen took down Colman Mullen in a scrap, the Jets had momentum on their side midway through the third period. Thisbia goalie Mick Mac Ateer had been impenetrable all game, turning away shot after shot. The Jets were visibly frustrated. After a timeout taken by head coach Hank Boudreau, the Jets settled into the Thisbian zone once more, and finally put one past Mac Ateer. Dostoyevski fed one to Casey Byrant to knot it up at 1. That would be all the offense the Jets would get on the night.

The Jets had many quality scoring chances all night, and by all rights, the game should have been much higher-scoring on both sides. The brilliant play of the goalies is what kept the game so close. Mick Mac Ateer matched Ryan Underhill shot for shot, save for save.

"It was frustrating," coach Hank Boudreau commented after the game. "I thought we had a few more in us tonight, but we just couldn't put it home. Every chance matters in a game like that. You gotta score."

Byfugland will take on Apox in Justinia tomorrow night before traveling into the lion's den in Blastings City to take on Thrilledge in the Battle for Zollnando, part 4.

The Morning show

Jim: Good morning and welcome to the Birolika morning show, last night the Birolik Ice hockey side managed a 4-0 thrashing of Falconfar in the group stage at the world cup. This win puts Birolika on 6 points in 4th place, however they are now only 1 point off of second. In our next game they will take on Qazox, but then Androssa Se Mirtin Vega which could be a key game in qualification in the next round. What are your thoughts going into the next game then Andy?

Andy: Well to be honest we can't get ahead of ourselves here, what was our aim? 3rd or 4th place. We are currently in 4th place and we seem on track for good things at the minute. To be honest I can't see us beating Qazox, even if it is a home fixture.

Jim: So can you not see Birolika going through?

Andy: Honestly no, lets face it we're the team in the group with the lowest expectations and we're doing well to be here.

Jim: But if we have low expectations shouldn't we have an edge due to under estimating?

Andy: Maybe in the first half of qualifying, but they've all seen us play now and the element of surprise will be gone. I think going into the second half we will need to put more in and take anything we can get.

Jim: Going back to last night anyway what did you think of the Birolik performance?

Andy: It was an impressive result, they really did manage to put in a decent performance against Falconfar.

Jim: Do you think this string of decent results might kill of the signature Birolik pessimism that usually accompany their sporting events?

Andy: Possibly, but I don't think it will cause any over confidence. Our next game is against Qazox, so I would doubt that generations worth of pessimism would be over turned for a game we are expected to lose. Maybe if we trashed a team like Western Cuba and were going against Falconfar then we would be confident but not against Qazox.

Jim: Going back to the game, what did you think of Artem Rilley's performance last night?

Andy: Well he definitely deserved his man of the match with his two goals and an assist. He is definitely becoming a key player for the Birolik side and could well be transferred to a bigger club soon. Both his goals were key as well: the first one came 16 minutes into the first period and really got the game off to a good start for the Birolik team; it was really self created and he nearly travelled the full length of the rink. His second goal came 6 minutes into the first period and while it was a bit of scramble in front of the goal it was still important, the game was just starting to swing the other way and if he hadn't have scored Falconfar would have. Also his assist was decent as well.

Jim: Do you think that Canines will be able to hang onto him, or even the Elite league for that matter?

Andy: Ha ha! No they won't, he would easily be a star striker for the Bulls or Spiders and to be honest he could easily make it in a far better foreign league and make more money. Although he did grow up in Caldrey and did sign up for them ahead of the Freezer who are more successful, but only marginally so.

Jim: Also Coach Balker, do you think he'll remain on the Birolik side for the next World Cup of Hockey?

Andy: He has done well so far this cup and to be honest I don't think they'll ever sack him even if we finished bottom with no points. However I think he'll want to stick with the team, just to see how far he can get them.

Jim: Although if you buy into the rumours of dressing room discontent his time could be limited, although the players have denied it.

Andy: If the players are discontent they need to grow up, he is just trying to get decent results and to get them he needs to set expectations. If players can't deal with that they need to be off the team, not him.

Jim: Well that's all we have for today, next time we will be joined by prolific forward Mark Pelav, but until then good morning and goodbye.

Goal scorers:

Mark Pelav: 3
Artem Rilley: 3
John Jacker: 1

Kaitlyn continues to lead the way,
By Meghan Potter, Concord Heights Times

There might be some people out there in the world who will try to convince you that there goalie is better then Kaitlyn Oakley. For some, a case could probably be made and they may just be. Where Kaitlyn stands as far as her world reputation doesn’t really matter to her, or to her teammates. For the women and men that wear the pink and black, confidence is high in their goaltender, and with that, the team has started to get consistent positive results now in Group 9. A 2-0 win away at Port Hawthorne, against a rising nation that is enjoying the successful “second campaign” that we so often see in international competitions other then the Soccer World Cup.

For sure, the Ice Huskies were confident hosting the Dagans. After all, they drew us in the opener at Concord Heights, and if it were not for Stacie Cornett’s goal with 30 seconds remaining, they would have won. With this game at the jam-packed Capital Sporting Multiplex, coach Kevin Haynes and company were certainly confident. For this match, our own coach, Courtney Rangen, re-iterated the same message she did when the team went to Northern Sunrise Islands, “When you go on the road as a favorite in a passionate barn like this, you have to anticipate that initial rush. That is where they often make mistakes, because they force things while trying to keep the home crowd revved up.” That was defining moment in the win over NSI, as the lone goal came nine minutes on a giveaway by a young finesse forward trying to do too much. Port Hawthorne didn’t make that same kind of careless mistake, but Stacie Cornett’s goal at 12:14 of the 1st period took some life out of the crowd. Good for Stacie, of course, given that the only two goals she has scored in the entire competition have been these markers against Port Hawthorne. “Stacie has been down on her overall performance during qualifying thus far. She wanted to make a real big impact, and it hasn’t gone the way she dreamt it up. Though when you think about it, the goals she has scored have been very important to us.” The 1-0 lead held up and insurance was registered when Brittany Endres slapped home a shot from the point on the power play early in the 3rd period. Oakley stopped all 26 shots she was faced with.

Goalscorers against Carmadin: Luskee, twice
Ko-oren: Calvor, Andersen
Perinpanland: Dimuse

"Okay, all that detour sneaking about the exurbs barely took any time. Then I went off to Carmadin but I swear you transferred directly out of the airport and never saw a minute of the game. Now here we are, you show up, and all you want to do is watch videotapes of the team? What's going on, we're over halfway through the group stage and I still don't know what you want!"

"Relax. Plutoni are leading their group, aren't they?"

"Well--yes."

"And they'll probably make the playoffs?"

"Er...yeah."

"Which would mean they had time for plenty more games?"

"Well--yes--if they got that far."

"And is it single-elimination?"

"No. There's series. Best of three."

"Really! All of them?"

"Er, I think the play-in round is just one game. And the third place playoff is just one, as well. But the others are series."

"Plenty of time to rally back. Even if you drop one or two, spread out."

"Yes. Now, where were you?"

"Cotdelapoms."

"What?"

"Defending champions of the tournament, I can appreciate hockey when I feel like it!"

"They're not even in this round."

"I didn't say I actually was going to watch hockey."

"What, you were harassing them with dead cats?"

"No, as entertaining as that undoubtedly would have been. Maybe we can get back there?"

"Not with you, and besides, Cotdelapoms strikes me as the kind of place that has laws against animal cruetly."

"Hey, even Plutoni is all about saving the tortoise or whatever."

"Oh, and I should trust you to respect environmentalism?"

"Should I trust you?"

"We have to keep the planet cool so there can be ice for hockey."

"Hah, okay, point taken. I promise you, I have never deliberately subjected a tortoise to quickly-fatal levels of radiation, nor set up conditions where such a situation is more than 12.5% likely."

"...should I be worried about the specificity of that claim?"

"No, no, not at all."

(Sorry I haven't been RPing. I was away for a while. I'm not doing to bad  )

Alexei: C'mon coach. We aren't doing to bad.

Bilbo: Yes. But we're fourth in the group. No we'll never make the playoffs.

Alexei: But there's always next time. It's not the end of the world.

Bilbo: Yes, but since we've beaten only two nations in Group Three doesn't really give us anything to be proud of.

Alexei: I figure as long as we have fun playing. We're proud.

Bilbo: Yeah. But these airplane bills from flying all over the place are really hurting us.

Alexei: Let's just put it on Dimitri's credit card. I'm pretty sure he won't care.

Bilbo: Does Dimitri even have a credit card?

Alexei: I'm sure he does. How else does he pay for all of that junk he owns.

Bilbo: Hey. A vintage bobble-head of Roy Orbison is not junk. Some people value that stuff.

Alexei: Who cares? Can't we just get back to the point?

Bilbo: All-righty. Putting every bill on Dimitri's credit card it is.

At St. Mary Hospital.
Jean brings some flowers to his fathers' room, calm because she believes that he is in recovery. However, she notices that her father is watching the TV as the news recast the match against Falconwhereveryouare.
"... Jean?" said Steve, watching the TV, not even looking to his daughter.
"Y-Yeah, daddy?"
"...Good job." said him, calm.
The daughter delivers the flowers to his father, saying in a low tone of voice near his ear.
"Don't worry, dad. I'll make you proud."
At the team's training after they arrive in Licentiapacisterra.
"Guys, we have to beat our opponents next match." said Jean, confident. "It's for our fans, it's for our country. It's for Steve!"

Thanks to McClain's penalties, NSI managed to score two powerplay goals, thus tieing with their opponents.
