Host City: Eindhoven

The coastal city of Eindhoven is located on the western seaboard of Cyborg Holland. During the summer months, in which this competition will be held, the average temperature is a warm 26 degrees, cooled by a seas breeze. Eindhoven has a long history of cycling, with the two largest races in the country finishing at the picturesque Pad van der Zeen, which runs along the seaside.

Construction for this competition was relitavley light, as a velodrome already existed in the west of the city. The road races obviously take place along the roads of the city and surrounding country-side, and the mountain bike course is in the Lukel Forest, 25 miles east of the city. The only specially built track for this event was the BMX course in the Velodrome Park.

Kuldass Velodrome

Built in 1997 for the national cycling championships. Since then it's seen 5 of these championships over the last 15 years. The curving track is made of 100% Cyborg Dutch Hardwood. The building itself was designed by famous artist Zander Klasslecht. It seats 8,000 in stands all around the track, and the atmosphere of the track when full is amazing. This Velodrome will hold all track cycling events, and there is full equipment and facilities for all track cyclists. Each team gets it's own section in the centre of the track, where they can train on provided cyle-machines.

There are top-class hygiene and washing facilities, complete with showers, ice baths and a 25m pool.

Lukel Forest Mountain Bike Course

Built on former-military land, the Lukel forest is perfect for Mountain biking. Rocky, Hilly, Plenty of trees, streams and ditches to confuse and challenge the rider. Originally built for the National Cycling Championships in 1994, it was demolished and re-built in 2002. 5 laps of the 3 mile course constitutes the men's race, whilst the women's is only 4 laps. There are two main grandstands, which each can seat 3,000 people, and there is standing spectator viewing areas all along the course. Transport to and from the Forest is easy. A 30-minute bus ride from the centre of town, or a simple car drive along the M76 to the village of Kand, where it's a short 5 minute walk. There is an athletes centre where the athletes may stay and prepare for thier run on the course. Complete with washing and eating facilities, as well as a gym.

Velodrome BMX

The BMX course was specially built for this competition, as BMX is not included in the National Championships. Designed by former cyclist Ade Christiansen and opened last year, the course is 700m long, starting with a sharp drop and moving straight into the sharpest bend, where crashes often happen. The finish is after a series of 6 hills. There are a total of 5 bends, 14 hills and two gravel strips. There is a stand which seats 6,000 people all along the course, and it's only 5 minutes walk from the Velodrome.

Road Racing

The Men's and women's road races are a 252km race through the city and out into the countryside to the north and west of the city. Starting at the Government Headquarters building in the centre of town, the race leaves the city and descends into the country. Through many small villages and towns, as well as fields and forests, it strecthes to it's furthest point, the villlage of Lubelhaier, 96km from Eindhoven. It then snakes back across the country side and up Antonov Hill twice. Back down and back into the city, where it traces it's way through the wide main streets of the city, before reaching the sea and having a final sprint along the Pad van der Zeen.

The Time Trial is a 51km race through the city. Starting at the Museum van de Geschiedenis and moving through the city, passing the government district and the famous arts district, home to many of Cyborg Holland's greatist artists. The race finishes again down the Pad van der Zeen, with the finish just before the boardwalk stretching out over the ocean.

Hunki wasn't sleeping. Normally he'd be absolutely brimming with calm and confidence before an event, but this time was different. Very, very different. Hunki had been training hard for the time trial, to be his "specialist event" for Kulverint's first entry to the Inter-Nation Cycling championships, when leading Road Racer, Milhausz Vitteram, had been injured in an accident in the mountains. He'd been missing for 4 days, before being rushed to hospital. The Road Race being one of Kulverint's key events, and one in which they were desperate to win, they had to ask to their second best road cyclist if he was up to the plate. That had been a year ago, and since then Hunki Triärm@ had been slowly building up his stamina - from being a masterful 1-hour, 45 kilometre cyclist to a true great on the long haul, 5-hour, 250 kilometre road race. He was, if anything, now better than Milhausz Vitteram had ever been, and surely now Kulverint had their chance in the road race again...

Hunki's training had taken place heavily over the last two months. He'd spent almost his entire Spring and early Summer scaling horrifically tall mountains for hours and hours on end, even at one point completing a climb of over 1,000 metres in one day, one which he'd been particularly proud, and he was now being considered by many of the major cycling journals as a "100" rating (Race win contender), something of which he was very proud, although it put enormous pressure on him. However, there was not all against him, the Kulverintians would be in a familiar setting, with Cyborg Holland speaking the Dutch language, from which Kulverintian is derived and indeed, which most Kulverintians speak as well. Hopefully some homely feelings would be abound for the team, and for Hunki.

Of course the Kulverintian team would have absolutely dreamt of a recovery for Milhausz, thereby giving them two "100" rated riders in the Road Race, and a realistic chance of a first and second, but all that was academic - perhaps next time they'd have a go at it, if, indeed, Vitteram could ever recover from his absolutely hideous leg-break sustained in that accident. For now, though, the hopes of a nation rested on the shoulders of Hunki Triärm@, something he was critically unused to.

[intro music]

"Welcome to the second Inter-nation Cycling Championships! Your reporter is now in Cyborg Holland to cover the action from close up. You are now looking at Eindhoven, the host city for the entire event. And we will look at all the events, not only because there are Ko-orenite athletes in all of them. (Okay, maybe that's the reason)."

[cut to aerial shot of Kuldass Velodrome]

"All track cycling will happen here. To be honest, this is the biggest group of athletes for our delegation, led by people we know from the Olympics, such as Kikes Ami, Ol Jukiner, but also Zirtsun Shi and Glas Shi."

[cut to footage of training on the Mountain Bike Course]

"Here we will see the mountain bikers of the world. For our own nation, six athletes will show up, which all have already had some experience at the Olympics: Fumi Hoitro, Muntran Dhrau, Gargandin Dhrau for the men, and Haomi Ganena, Mimi Restul and Julija Urustan for the women"

[cut to footage of the BMX Velodrome]

"And here will another six athletes be performing. Successful at other events, there is Trogtrar Awi and Sunan Narsuth, together with their training partners. BMX is where some titles are expected..."

[cut back to the studio, images of Eindhoven on the screens in the back]

"And this is the backdrop for the road racing at the tournament. Another thing Ko-orenites should be good at, and there will be a group of five (!) per gender in the road race, and some of them will also appear at the time trial, which will also be in the city. These races end on the famous seaside of Eindhoven, passing by the history museum and other places of interest. We have already seen some Ko-orenite fans in the city center, let's hope that this will be an event to never forget! Of course, Cyborg Holland has something to make up for us: they provided the winner of the Ko-oren City Marathon, we provide the winners for the second Inter-nation Cycling Championships! Goedenavond, en tot ziens!"

Vahvanti's Guide To The Latest In News And Info

Competitors Battle Cycling Fever
But 3 cyclists already infected as virus spreads throughout Vahvanti

HOPEAKI - As a virus makes its rounds in Hopeaki and the rest of Vahvanti, ten Vahvan cyclists are pushing themselves to the limit in the Hakkinen Park.

The cyclists will be competing in this year's Inter-Nation Cycling Championships have been spending entire weeks developing their skills in the arena. Though they tried their best to isolate themselves from the outbreak, Noora Leppälä, Markus Penttilä and Petra Sinervo were forced to watch their compatriots by the sidelines as they nurse themselves from the infection, dubbed 'Cycling Fever' after the first reported infectee caught the disease during a biking trip.

"It's obviously a hindrance to training for our boys and girls," cycling coach Topias Tervelainen said. "You've seen what it's done to Markus; What it's done to Noora, (and) Petra. If anymore of the team gets infected, our chances for a medal could very well be waved goodbye. But, thankfully, I knew how to fix it."

Yrma Nyrman is not sure what to make of her trainer's solution. "This gas mask has been difficult to put on and uncomfortable to wear," she remarked. "However, I don't feel ill in any way at the moment. It must be working, I guess."

Yrma then proceeded to drink from her water bottle, only for the water to spill directly onto her mask. On the other hand, spectators had a lot to say about the gas masks as they watched the practice sessions here.

"lol, dat guy ovr ther luks liek bANE," one adolescent remarked, referring to the bald-headed Michelle Gunnarsson.

"Those so-called athletes down there are pussies!" says one elderly woman allegedly suffering from Cycling Fever. "Why are they allowed to put on those masks while the rest of the country has to suffer from this virus? In all fairness, the rest of Vahvanti should also wear gas masks, too!"

This is Vahvanti's first participation in the Inter-Nation Cycling Championships. It will be the first time the cyclists would get to demonstrate their skills on a global level.- Viljo Niva

9/4 Script 10:00 - 10:10 Newsflash!
Basil BroadCasting Company

Animated intro
Cut to main
SCOTT: Hey, I'm Maggie Scott. in between your morning coffee and leaving for work, here's your daily Newsflash! In today's news, a realm previously unexplored: cycling! Henry will tell you more about it.

Cut to prerecorded clip at Velodrome
DALE: Thanks, Maggie. I'm here today, right in front of the state of the art Kuldass Velodrome. This is only one of the possible venues where the Swiss athletes will be competing, and as you can see it is quite beautiful. Some might even say a work of art, and they would be correct! The track was designed by a famous Dutch artist, Zander... er, well I may pronounce this wrong, but I think it's "Class-Leck."
Laughs easily
DALE: As you can see, we're very excited to compete here. It'll be our first time at these competitions. And with me today is former president and now intense cyclist... James Hunt!
HUNT: Why, thank you.
DALE: So, James. What do you think you are looking forward to the most in the competition? The ice baths? Laughs
HUNT: Ha, no. I don't believe in ice baths, Henry. In fact I think I prefer a nice dip in the Jacuzi... waggles eyebrows at camera But if I had to choose what I'm looking forward to most... I would have to say,,, the women...
DALE: Not the fantastic, finely furbished tracks and courses?
HUNT: No... I think I would have to go with the women.
DALE: Well then. I hope you perform well in the competition, James. Now, back to you, Maggie!
Hunt winks at camera before cut back to main

SCOTT: Well, as you can see the Swiss have high expectations going into the competition. I look forward to filling you in... on our next, morning Newsflash!

Swiss Bikers Come Heartbreakingly Close
It was a difficult day for the Swiss athletes as the first round of competition came to a close. Across the board, the team had come closer and closer to their goal of achieving a medal, but in the end fell just short. The day started off with Geneva biker Jeremy Lasturias coming just 0.005 seconds away from qualifying for the Men's BMX finals. In fact, if he had been in any other heat, he would have qualified.

In the Women's BMX, Crimuna de los Santiagos came just a second away from a medal, getting 4th in the finals after winning her heat. Immediately afterward, in the Men's time trial, former president James Hunt came fifth, only a fifth of a second away from a medal in a competition of over 30 world-class athletes.

Finally, to cap off the day, veteran Tony Burns was only a second away from qualifying to the finals in the Moutain Bike event, placing 10th when he needed to get Top 8.

Though it may have seemed disheartening, there are still more events to be seen. In particular, cyclist Jonah Nizzy reminded everyone that, "There's always the Road Race!"

Tryienne bikers end meagerly

Latest news from the Tryiennian delegation of the 2nd Inter-Nation Cycling Championships in Eindhoven.

During the time-trail today, Tryienne ended up being 22nd and 27nd in the end-ranking. We only hope that next year they will do better.

This is Yuri Strakanavich, signing off.

[intro music]

The second day of the Cycling Championships have just ended, everything is going more than well for the Ko-orenite delegation! Time to look at some results. Three medal events so far, so nine medals have been handed out in total.

Three of these went to Cyborg Holland, the proud hosts of the tournament that has had (almost) no incidents yet, two have gone to ANC and Ko-oren, and one medal was conquered by Darmen and Kulverint.

[cut to medal table]

But, when we see the table by Gold/Silver/Bronze, we can see that Ko-oren is proudly leading! One gold and one more silver means that we keep Darmen and Kulverint behind us, as they 'only' have one gold. Cyborg Holland have three medals, but unfortunately nog golds yet. They would immediately take over first place in case of one, though. The same goes for ANC, with one silver and one bronze... So what medal events have we had so far?

[cut to Women's BMX Finals footage]

Starting with the BMX finals, for the women. This was the first medal event, and easily the most positive one for Ko-oren. Sunan Narsuth, the big favorite for the title, won this by only the smallest of margins to the pride of the hosts. It's not that only eight athletes signed up for this: Ko-oren alone had three. In the qualification, Sorauna Ishtunurmu came fourth after silver medal winner Elenora Aalders, and Tsuna Os came fourth after bronze medal winner Oonagh O'Doherty, though even she came in second in this heat. The 'worst' heat here was the third one, which produced the seventh and eighth of the finals...

[cut to Men's Time Trial footage]

Then the Time trial came. This event was won by Scott Perry from Darmen, but look at the margin to number two... Yes, that's 0:00:03. That's not very much, is it... But it is enough to get Tommi Delshu the silver medal for Ko-oren. Not far behind was Wendel Ryskamp for the hosts. Sostalt and Chel were the other Ko-orenites, though they were 15th and 31st... last. Still, the differences were absolutely minimal for this one. Lastly, there was the...

[Men's Madison footage]

And this is the only medal event so far that didn't get Ko-oren a medal. To be honest, this was only expected. Individual training went before group events in these championships, and it shows. Though Afanvaun Shi and Kikes Ami got in fifth for this. Let's look forward to the upcoming events:

[Generic footage in background]

The medals of the Men's BMX are to be distributed soon. Same thing goes for the Women's Time Trial, the Men's Track Time Trial, Women's Keirin, Women's Madison and the Men's Points Race.

For the Men's BMX, the qualification has already passed some time. Trogtrar Awi is the big favorite for this one, and has answered this position with giving it all for the qualification and recording the best time of all qualifiers: 36.128. This sure puts some pressure on him. The two other Ko-orenites, Boi Mudherma and Ishtun Sfna have been eliminated in the seventh and sixth place (out of seven) in their respective heats.

For other qualifier events that still have their medal events to come in the next days, almost always a Ko-orenite has qualified! Here's to a fantastic tournament! Goedenavond, en tot de volgende keer!

Drama!

What seemed a sure medal for Ko-oren, turned out to become a drama for Trogtrar Awi. After recording the best time of all qualifiers in the first round of the Men's BMX event, and after good results at the Olympics, Awi almost already kept some space in his medal cabinet at home to put the ICC gold medal in. Though Darmen was the grand winner of this event, seizing gold and silver, and Awi did not make it to the finish. This is a big deception to the Ko-orenite delegation, that expected a certain number of medals, but now has to cross out the first on the list.

The Darmeni delegation was not there to react to our press services, undoubtedly they are happy the way the tournament is going for them: Darmen is now in first place of the medal table: 2-1-0. Ko-oren is still third: 1-1-1. Cyborg Holland got a gold, and climbed up to second place: 1-1-3. Kulverint did not win any medal and is still stuck at 1-0-0.

The bronze medal for Ko-oren was one that was only won today: in the Men's Track Time Trial, Hankul Dufthan managed to finish third. He came after Nise van Oske and Joshua Steen, and just before Enda O'Callaghan and Steven Hallet. His brother Kal Dufthan was less fortunate and finished in 12th place.

There are more medal events expected, when results are in, this KSN post will be changed.

'Medal-less' day

And in this day, Ko-oren has been overtaken by the very productive Cyborg Holland. Kulverint is third, which is surprising as both K-starting countries have about half the medals of Cyborg Holland and less medals than Darmen and ANC, at fourth and fifth. After that, TMF has four, and VAH, DSF and SMR all have one. Now looking at the results of the past days:

Men's Omnium:
In this event, Ol Junkier and Mesdn Hakalun compete. In the Flying Lap, OJ was placed third, and in the Points Race, OJ was eighth. In the Elimination Race, he was first! MH did decidedly worse, finishing fourteen out of sixteen on the last event. The Men's Omnium continued yesterday, where OJ got in second with the Individual Pursuit, and third in the Scratch Race. The Time Trial was the worst for OJ in a long while, finishing fifth. This day was also better for MH, finishing fifth, seventh and ninth over the last three events. The points are being tallied and as soon as we know more, you'll hear it!

Women's Kierin

Ami Smu, after recording a very good qualification, ended fifth out of six in the final. Only Konstantina Germann from Kulverint did worse, but she even got REL. Cyborg Holland got another gold, and Kulverint got silver. Kulverint surely have qualified even more than Ko-oren by now, though the golds are staying behind for them.

Women's Madison
In this event, the Shi sisters of Ko-oren were alone in the fact that many countries had two finalists: Kulverint, Cyborg Holland, ANC, TMF and SMR all had two. There were eleven in all, and the usual suspects got away with the medals!

Women's Team Pursuit Qualification
Another Shi, though unrelated, joined the Smu sisters in this event. They finished third, and the three Mingku's got fifth. This means Ko-oren has two teams among the eight finalists, and the only nation to pull that off is Kulverint. Other nations all have (only) one finalist team, increasing the chances here!

Men's Points Race

Hankul Dufthan was the big winner here. Gold medal for Ko-oren! His younger brother Kal Dufthan finished last of all that finished (Nikolas van Hoorne didn't). At least another medal to count, the Ko-orenite delegation have been slacking in that department.

On to the events of yesterday, where Ko-oren was finally overtaken:
Men's Mountain Bike
ANC was the big victor here. Gold and Bronze for them. Darmen managed to squeeze in a silver medalist. Fumi Hoitro finished fourth, and for the hosts, Cyborg Holland's very own Markus Livemmer finished tenth! Surely the opposite world here. Dhrau brothers Muntran and Gargandin did not manage to finish here. Definitely a lot of athletes that dropped before the finish line.

Women's BMX Final
Sunan Narsuth got the bronze here! Cyborg Holland got silver, and ANC had a field day here, another gold for them! The differences at the top were bigger than between those in places three to six here... There is a lot of catching up for these people for next event.
WCC and WCOH President and NS Sports' only WC, WBC, WB, WCOH, IBC, RUWC, Test Cricket, ODI, and T20 loser!

It's All on the Road Race Now
With Swiss athletes finishing in 11th and 15th in the Men's BMX final, the only competitive race left is the Road Race, where multiple athletes of our team will be competing in a team to get us a medal. Says biker Jonah Nizzy, "You know, it's all about the team. We're going to try to get James ahead, whatever it takes. But it's going to be crazy out there man... anything can happen." The event will be broadcasted by BBC (Basil Broadcasting Company) in the upcoming days. Bets can be placed at www.honeytrap.net.
