Peter Clengin wants one more

Peter Clengin started racing in 1989, at the age of seventeen, he went on to win Kannapian National Series Championships in 1990. At the age of eighteen, he became the youngest racer in Kannap to win the Kannapian National Series. This alone shocked the nation, that such a young racer could beat all the veterans of the series. He won Rookie of the Year that same year, and then went on to win the Championships in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

Peter could not race the 1996 season, as he had broken his right arm. He continued to support his family's team, and throughout 1996, he was known to be working at the family business to pass his time. He returned in 1997 to win yet another championship, and became the first racer in the country's history to win seven championships in the Kannapian National Series.

Again, in the 1998 season, Peter's arm was broken and he was not allowed to race. During the year of 1998, his mother passed away, and in her will she left him the family business. Throughout 1998, he was owning and managing Clengin Family Restaurants. In 1999, he decided not to go back to stock car racing, he stayed with the family business. Though, not even that could hold him away. He eventually became tired with the restaurant game, and for that reason, he gave the family business to his sister. Cindy Clengin took over the business and told Peter to get back into racing.

In the 2000 season, Peter Clengin came back ready, and after a close season between Peter and his rival Jerry Pitts, Peter won another championship in the Kannapian National Series. Increasing his record, and the series record, to eight. He continued racing, though he did not win another championship until 2007, and again last year. Increasing his record to ten.

Well, as last years champion, he is back and trying to win another title. He has announced, at the age of 40, that this will be his last season racing, then he will retire. So, before he retires, he wants to win championship number eleven. Hopefully he can gain this season as a championship under his belt. He needs this win badly.

Race Announcements

We are expecting to get a press conference with the president of the Kannapian National Stock Car Association, Bobby Dilks, soon. He is going to answer a few questions for us. As well as the schedule of the 2012 Kannapian National Series is going to be announced soon. Here comes Mr. Dilks.

Valarie Keytioni: "Hello Mr. Dilks, so you are back with the Kannapian National Stock Car Association as president for the 2012 year?"

Bobby Dilks: "Yes, I have recovered from the illness I had for the duration of the 2011 series."

Valarie: "Well, that is good news. So, is the schedule this year going to be longer or shorter? Harder or easier?"

Bobby: "Well, this year the season is going to be very short. As for whether or not the season is going to be harder or easier, that all matters on each driver. It depends on whether or not we're racing at the tracks that these drivers are better at."

Valarie: "So, how many races is the season going to have this year?"

Bobby: "The 2012 season is going to have only ten races. The schedule is going to be announced in a few minutes."

Valarie: "Well, thank you Mr. Dilks, you seem like a busy man, so we are going to let you go, may we continue this interview later?"

Bobby: "Yes, that sounds great. Thank you for having me."

Well, the Kannap Shootout has been going on for five years now, and is always an exciting favorite. This year, however, it was kind of shocking, and the results speak for themselves. The Kannap Shootout, although a non-points race, is the longest race of the season, with 400 laps. This year, only four drivers finished. Here are the results:

Our race this weekend brings us to Geratu, Kannap. This is the first points race of this season, which means drivers will have to be careful and step it up at this race.. Unlike at the Kannap Shootout. The drivers have already qualified, and Daniel Classing has won the pole. Congratulations Daniel and good luck to all the drivers today. This one-mile track is a tough monster!

The All Star Race is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 7. This will be a preview of what is to come in the 2013 Kannapian National Series season. The season starts on July 15, 2013.
